ever since they dropped the video in 2023 I have been so obsessed with the funko pop line up where will was seemingly with the women, what it means, and hoping that would actually become a real scene because the shot itself would be so interesting for will's character - and now it looks like we finally have it!!

I feel like it's safe to say it was about this sequence, though I won't complain if it's not and there's another similar one! gimme all the bad bitch line up scenes

BUT NOW it leaves me thinking I was on the right track with what I always thought about those funkos, that the male funkos around them were still a part of the scene but it was intentional for will to be with the women

from any small context we have so far it looks as though the boys go out and spy on the military who are doing burnings (which is different to my initial thoughts that the men were keeping an eye on the perimeter of whatever building I assumed the female funkos might be in), and that involves at least mike, lucas and steve so far. it's hard to tell if hopper is also involved if if his small clip in the trailer is out of context because #editing

regardless, the reason I've been so excited about the funko video is because it felt like the duffers were really using an opportunity to remind the audience will is different to other boys, again it just felt so intentional. he's forming plans and being an active participant in the group, they trust him and execute his ideas, but he's still his usual odd one out self. his role in the group isn't what might be expected, especially now that he's moved into this victim-hero/final girl arc for season 5

I'll be curious to see if they give any reason why all the women are grouped up together and staying at the radio station and with will, because they don't often split groups off by gender this much, or if it's just meant to be the symbolic character informing moment I always perceived it as for will! idk I just didn't expect it, it made me hopeful back then given how some of the fandom treated will/lacked respect for who he is, and I find it sooo interesting I could talk about this all day, will's character is so cool!!!!
