"(He so needed a redemption)"
On one hand, while I agree the show didn't handle him the best, saying he had to be redeemed is a bit much. On the other hand, it angers the people in the fandom who get mad at Belos' fans, so I don't mind people who say it.
Ok The Belos Talk
Tumblr media
Honestly, I'm so glad for the like-minded group of Owl House fans actually giving him his props for being a likable evil villain,
we haven't had Disney villains like this since its renascence era, they were scummy in a good way, for the sake of evil motivation which the show knocked out the park.
Tumblr media
but his narrative as a villain is over exagerated cause he's not the biggest baddy compared to previous
Popular story-driven shows like Voltron & Steven Universe,
however, him being straight forward and downright evil in the most asinine way is truly unacceptable,, cause it could've contribute to a lot of earth and BO lore & world-building.
(which ill be doing a fanfic soon.)
I say the whole start of it and how fandoms gravitate to him is when Matthew Rhys TALENTED VA who played the Voltron villain,
said this on the fandom site on Wiki that he's a misunderstood soul which I feel brought mixed theories of how he's handled, which seems like a missed opportunity to just waste such a Profound character yet give favoritism in certain areas that don't contribute to the show.
cause you know Discourse of (a certain ship taking everyone's spotlight, or certain characters not contributing to the story of the show isn't ok.)
i felt that had a lot to do with how the creator hated his character knowing we didn't get a proper origin of the Witterbanes.
ANOTHER TOPIC BELOW
Good sexuality doesn't mean good character either. (be it writing or personality wise.)
honestly in this day and age where the whole DEI concept takes root to how we perceive and write animation is taking it to extremes, yes you can have great characters who are of sexual orientation but good sexuality doesn't always mean good character (if that makes sense) and its kinda fraudulent how cartoons are nowadays, yes you can have lgbt content don't let it overshadow the show to writings work.
For more check out my blog and my many posts on YouTube and here too.
Thanks for sipping tea on the topic

Happy 5th Anniversary, The Owl House!
Today is the 5th anniversary of
Tumblr media
Disney's The Owl House!
Tumblr media
It has now been half a decade that we have seen fantasy and magic lover
Tumblr media
Luz Noceda came to the Boiling Isles and made her adventures learning about magic there. That's when she became friends with
Tumblr media
Eda the Owl Lady, and
Tumblr media
the King of Demons aka King Clawthorne, son of a Titan, becoming a trio of weirdos who stick together with
Tumblr media
Hooty, the Owl House itself.
Later on, Luz became a student at Hexside, and became friends with
Tumblr media
Willow Park the plant witch,
Tumblr media
Augustus Porter aka Gus, the president of the Human Appreciation Society
Tumblr media
and Amity Blight, her girlfriend (which I believe looks great with Luz) while dealing with Emperor Belos aka Phillip Witterbane and his "nephew", Hunter aka The Golden Guard, his other half as the Day of Unity was coming.
Tumblr media
Other time, Luz and Eda learned that Eda's sister, Lilith Clawthorne had cursed Eda into becoming the Owl Lady beast when they were going to be in the Emperor's Coven together. When Lily learned Belos had no intention of healing Eda of her curse, that's when she switched sides and shared the curse with her sibling.
Tumblr media
Also, Hunter had a change of heart as well in Season 2.
Tumblr media
Belos was going to release the Collector, but he didn't, until King Clawthorne released him and chaos ensued sending Luz and company back to the human realm, but they were able to get back and stop Phillip once and for all. Still, the last episode in the three-part finale rocked! Don't you agree?
So, for this today, i will be roleplaying as the main cast of The Owl House; Luz Noceda, Edalyn Clawthorne, King Clawthorne aka the King of Demons, Willow Park, Gus Porter, and Amity Blight.

A The Count of Monte Cristo AU with Eda in the role of Edmond Dantes and Raine in the role of Mercedes. The setting is mainly the Demon Realm, so most characters are Witches and Demons, but there is contact with the Human Realm by way of trading. The Covens exist, thought there is no mandatory joining and branding with Coven Seals - at least it’s not widely done.
Eda Cawthorne is accused of treason and sent to a horrible prison on the same night she was going to propose to her partner, Raine Whispers. The people who framed Eda are Odalia Bright, Terra Snapdragon, and Phillip Witterbane.
Philip wanted to discredit the respected Cawthorne Family, so he could get enough power and influence to become the ruler of the Boiling Isles, and one of them being accused of treason would ruin their reputation; Terra wanted control over Raine and felt that it would be easier without Eda’s influence on them, and because she wanted the two to suffer by separating them; Eda and Odalia were once friends but Odalia was secretly jealous and resentful of her power and skills, so she joined forces with Phillip and Terra to frame Eda.
Eda spends almost 12 years in the prison (losing an arm), until she learns about a great treasure and escapes. Not sure who could be in the role of Abbé Faria, but they help Eda escape at the cost of their life.
On her way to the island where the treasure is (Titan’s Hold), Eda meet Luz Noceda, an orphan human whom Eda takes in as her apprentice. Arriving at the island, they find baby King, along with the treasure.
Once they have the treasure, Eda and company return the the Boiling Isles. Eda reunites with her Lilith Clawthorne, her sister, and discovers that her parents are dead and that people think Eda died in prison. She also learns that Raine cut contact with Lilith/seemingly forgot about Eda to become Head of the Bard Coven.
(Terra is Head of the Plant Coven and seemingly a confidant to Raine, Odalia has achieved prestige due to Blight Industries (it’s thanks to her husband) while Phillip is well on his way to become Emperor, and fulfill his secret agenda).
Betrayed, Eda swears to destroy everyone who had a hand in sending her to jail. She spends the next 8 years plotting her revenge with the help of Lilith, Luz, King, even recruiting some other young witches who have been hurt by the elite (Gus, Willow, the Detention Track Kids).
20 years after her arrest, Eda infiltrates high-society as Marilyn, the Countess of Titan’s Hold. As she works to full-fill her revenge plans, Eda is reunited with Raine who doesn’t recognize her. Eda is surprised that Raine doesn't seem happy with their Coven Head position and that they still fondly remember Eda, even playing their song from time to time. Eda tries focusing on her anger at Raine, but she still has feelings for them.
Meanwhile, Luz (presented as Countess Marilyn’s daughter) becomes close with Amity Blight, Odalia’s youngest child. At first, it was to get some dirt on Odalia, but then Luz fell in love with Amity and helped her break free of Odalia’s control. Amity eventually discovers the truth about Luz, and decides to help her clear Eda’s name by finding evidence of her mother’s dirty dealings.
Eda discovers that the reason why Raine became a Coven Head was to the find proof of Phillip’s, Terra’s, and Odalia’s corruption to clear Eda’s name. Raine still loves Eda, and her apparent death nearly broke them, but they used it to fuel their determination to bring the corrupted elites down. Witnessing Raine’s devotion to her, Eda reveals her identity to them. Cue tearful reunion!
The rest is kind of predictable: they find evidence of corruption and destroy Phillip, Terra, and Odalia in satisfying ways. It might involves intense battle sequences cause these bastards won’t go down without a fight.
Eda and Raine finally marry, Lumity becomes official, everyone lives happily ever after. The end.
I’m changing the characters ages a bit to fit in with the story.
Eda is 24 when she’s imprisoned, around 36 when she escapes, and 44 during the main events. Raine is the same age as Eda. Luz, Amity, and the kids are all aged up to around 20-22 years. King is his canon age of about 8 years old.
People don’t recognize Countess Marilyn as Eda because of her now silver hair (she has orange hair the last time most people saw her), and because she hides her distinctive golden eyes behind sunglasses.
Eda still has her curse, but she made peace with the Owl Beast sometime after she escaped. Lilith still cursed Eda, but it was an accident instead of purposely.
I've never read The Count of Monte Cristo but I'll share this anyways

Note
It’s all about business & how far your media & series can go into a growing franchise at the end of the day.
(AND KILLING OFF YOUR VILLAIN IN A ASININE WAY THAT KICKS OFF THE MAIN EVENTS IS SMH😑, A phillip witterbane journal would be awesome.)
But we all know how the creator treats him sigh.
Do you think an Owl House book (not necessarily a Belos one since we all know how Dana feels about the character) could popularize the Owl House fandom again like the book of Bill is doing for the Gravity Falls fandom? The show has been trending on Tumblr for quite a while now.
Well, before we answer that, I think it's important to examine why Gravity Falls is "making a comeback." It ended nearly 10 years ago, and since then, it has a reputation of being a groundbreaking tv show that has influenced Disney TVA shows since then. Artists and writers who worked on GF then proceeded to make their own popular and well-regard shows (The Owl House and Amphibia). Even during the near-decade since it ended, its fandom has been chugging along nicely, making art, fics, and meme templates. To put it simply, GF has a larger fandom that is still interested in its world and characters.
In contrast, The Owl House ended just last year and while the show does trend on here occasionally, it's usually because of MoringMark (and even just looking at his recent comics, they're mostly rehashing plots and character arcs from the original). The wider fandom has mostly moved on to other media (except for the usual die-hards).
I think The Book of Bill is so successful because it provides so much: it is an interactive text, it has a website that is an extension of the book itself, allowing readers to decode riddles and learn more about GF's lore and characters. It's about a character people love and want to engage with. That interactivity has always existed on the show and now Disney can capitalize on audience nostalgia and provide a book aimed at an older audience.
Can the same be done with toh?
I'd argue no. The world building and characterization are far more limited in toh but besides that, I don't think it's likely we will see official toh content ever again. Alex Hirsch has an amicable relationship with Disney but the same does not seem to be the case for Dana Terrace. She left with her show cancelled and has even stated that the characters aren't hers anymore but Disney's.
Gravity Falls is founded on mysteries and ended with some to speculate on. Toh pretty much explained everything except for the Wittebanes and the Titan-Archivists War. Of those two, perhaps a Philip Wittebane journal would be the most lucrative since it's connected to the main plot and you can make it fun and creative. A book explaining the Titans would just be more lore. So when you have a world that's rather flimsy and characters who are more like archetypes, then it's no wonder that people have largely moved on.

Whoa, whoa WHOA. W h o a .
So how are the "Emperor Belos is Phillip Witterbane" people feeling about that ending?
I'm like "It MIGHT be him", but also I can't ever decide on Any One theory so I'm also like "He's his twin and they both have this... ....affliction?"
What was that writhing in his arm? Those glyphs? How did he embed those in his SKIN?
He IS human, yes? Rounded ears and all? So where/when/how did he learn to absorb palisman essence? Is he part basilisk, or imparted their characteristics on himself somehow?
And why is he after The Collector?
If that is Emperor Belos, why is he so utterly against witches and magic?
And what drew him from hating those who wield it, to wanting to subjugate it and control it?
Is this “Day of Unity” thing going to wipe magic out entirely?
(As you can see, I Have so Many Questions.)

[ID: Art of Phillip Witterbane and young Lilith Clawthorne. Phillip is a pale-skinned human with long brown hair. He is facing away from the viewer and holding a knife behind his back. Lilith has brown hair and glasses too thick to see through. She is holding the spell she used to curse Eda. The text below them reads "A Betrayal of Blood".]

LADS, SOMETHING I NOTICED
Luz is from Connecticut, as confirmed in last episode. Phillip Witterbane's diary was dated to the mid 1600's. Wanna know what was going on in connecticut in the mid 1600's?
Tumblr media
Is it just a cool easter egg or something more significant, who's to know, I just thought it was neat.
