I hate to say it, but almost every time I see one of those People of New York fashion images--where they stop some supposedly random, fashionable New Yorker on the street and ask them about their clothes--they almost always look Not Great.

It's always someone wearing the most cobbled together assortment of disparate items, as if they dressed blind and half drunk in a strangers closet that morning. And when asked, it's always like "vintage Versace jacket that cost 3 times your mortgage payment, leggings I won off a drunk supermodel at fashion week, and a clearance rack mini skirt from H&M."

Blüdhaven becoming Nightwing’s base has kind of overshadowed the fact that Dick’s first several years as Nightwing were in New York City with the New Titans.

In the 80s and early 90s, even Gothamites associated Nightwing with NYC enough to question why the New Yorker hero was in Gotham when he came to save Bruce one night.

Importantly, Dick lived in Manhattan during the entire time Jason was Robin, at least in preboot timeline. Jason associated Dick with NYC.

Enough that when Jason came back and Blüdhaven was blown up and Dick was nowhere to be found (traveling), Jason went looking for Dick in New York, expecting him to be there. And Dick did move to New York again, without even knowing Jason had anticipated that.

Blüdhaven certainly has its own special place for Nightwing, but so does New York. It’s one of the places Nightwing was born.
