But I do care about the employees and former employees of QSMP and they deserve respect and dignity and credit, not slander or vague passive-aggressive accusations

Which I've unfortunately seen even from people I know and care about, even people I follow or used to follow here on Tumblr, even people I consider friends

So, I feel like I should just be honest here, idk how I'm gonna handle this diplomatically in order not to burn too many bridges unnecessarily, because I don't actually want to lose people over this, but I do also have principles

I had no animosity towards Quackity before this, I hope you can see that from my blog history; I've never been a cc!Quackity hater. Unfortunately at this point I do need to see him do better than this, because his employees and former employees deserve better

If he does actually try to make it all up for them, if he actually talks to them with respect and a willingness to listen to their concerns and their experiences, then I have no more beef with him

Call me cynical, but please remember that your employer is not your friend.

You may have friends at work, but your employer, the entity, is not your friend. Your relationship is, at best, transactional; at worst, it's predatory and exploitive. Your job serves profit and will always prioritize that over everything else.

No job should be treated as the exception to this. That's not to say that no job will ever treat you well; it is only to say that, if you're convinced that Your Job Is Different, you're already in a position to be exploited.

Stay wary. Know your rights as a worker. Keep your mouth shut about most things. Be grateful for a job that doesn't exploit you but never get too comfortable, no matter how many employee resource groups, mental health days, catered lunches or anything else they provide. Your employer is not your friend.

one of my friends organized a trans(*)-only lunch for people in the department which i had a shockingly good time at. partly because i have apparently already met and befriended the entire trans and nonbinary population of the biology department at ***

however, since there were several people there who have only recently started Considering Gender, we did get into like "how did you tell your parents, how do you handle coming out to people" type stuff

and since i firmly recloseted at work back when the alternative was trying to come out to ancient faculties members over zoom, my answers were all things like "just do things and don't explain them! personally instead of ever telling anyone my pronouns i just refer to myself as a man only when using the rhetorical third person! i see it bring the fear into certain people's eyes and then i do not address that fear."
