♡ Hanzo has never been one for love like Genji was. He watched him live his numerous teen romances from afar, a yearning feeling resting in his soul as he grew older.

♡ Upon meeting you he begun feeling different, his hard shelled exterior faltering when you smiled, laughed, spoke, or even looked his way. He pushed the warmth that brushed across his cheeks down in order to focus on his missions, that’s what he told himself at least.

♡ He wanted to shut you out, push you as far away as possible to keep you safe, it was all for you. He didn’t want to burden you with the weight of his sins, his mistakes, his grief.

♡ Despite his frigid exterior you pushed on, pulling him closer whenever he pushed away. He felt angry with you at one point, condemning you for your stubbornness.

“Why must you be so persistent? I do not want you to worry yourself with my heart.”

He asked, voice echoing throughout the empty training facility. He glared at you from afar, heart aching as he spoke. He wanted to let you in, to let himself become soft, to let himself breathe, but he felt undeserving of that privilege.

In his eyes he was a monster, a body that only knew violence, a soul that couldn’t be mended.

He didn’t care to hear your response, he wouldn’t have believed what you said anyway, he left the facility with heavy steps. You managed to catch up with him as he left the locker room, hand grasping his tightly as you begged him to listen to you for a moment.

“Please… just let me show you what love can be”

You pleaded, hands cupping his. Your soft skin was warm against his calloused palms. He couldn’t bring himself to look at you, his gaze locked into the floor.

“I can’t do this to you, please give me up. You will only get hurt”

He said sternly, subtly pulling his hands from yours with the chill on his skin returning. He just wanted you to walk away, to leave him to be long like he deserved, but you wouldn’t let him go, not this time.

Placing a hand on his cheek, facial hair pricking the smooth surface of your fingers, you turned his head to face you. Your gentleness sent aching pains into his chest, cracking at his exterior like you did every moment he saw you.

“Please just leave…”

He pleads, leaning into your touch while he begged for it to cease. The way you looked at him, the way your gentleness never wavered even when he treated you like a nuisance, the way you didn’t give up on him, it all was far too much.

Tears prickled at his eyes as he found your gaze. He saw only love in your eyes, a passion that burned through the metal cage he built to keep everyone out.

“You know I won’t do that Hanzo..”

You whispered, leaning closer to show you ment it, forehead pressing against his while a familiar heat fell over his cheeks, he welcomed it this time.

Silently he tilted his head so his lips could meet yours, experimental and scared as you reciprocated him. He could’ve sworn that he was dreaming, that this would all fade away and he’d be alone again but it was your touch that reminded him that this was real, that he was real, that he was a human, that he could be loved.

It’s always frustrating talking about shipps in fandom (not just this one. Every fandom is the same, nowadays), because people are used to get carried away by their own biases and preferences and end up loosing the point of, not just the shipp, but of the story in its entirety.

Because sometimes, the shipp is the point. Sometimes, the romance, is the point. Sometimes, the best way to convey the themes of a story, is through a love story.

Christian Linke said something similar in a interview, that he didn’t set out to turn Vi and Caitlyn into a couple, but in the process of writing it, he found that the best way to convey the story he was trying to tell (opposite sides, Undercity and Topside, finding common ground and unity in the face of their differences. That this union is possible, to begin with) was through love. Romantic love. And Ekko and Jinx work in a similar manner.

Like, why is ep 7? Why is it like that? What is doing for the show Arcane and the character Ekko? Why have him fall in love with Powder to begin with?

Ekko is someone that since he lost everyone that he loved, put upon himself the responsibility of saving the Lanes from Silco and the oppression of the Enforcers. A noble endeavor, but after years of fighting, without realizing he became jaded and suspicious and closed off. His fight was not as much about saving the Lanes as it was about protecting his little community and allowing in, only the ppl he deemed deserving (btw, this isn’t a insult to Ekko. I think it’s a great conflict for the character to go through). He had lost hope.

Ep 7 is about reigniting Ekko’s will to fight by showing him a reality in which the Undercity had been fixed. Notice that, in this reality, the Undercity had been build to be like that in the span of 10 years, since VI’s death. It’s supposed to show Ekko the potential the Undercity has to be a wonderful city. And Powder it’s important because…she is Zaun. I mean, Jinx is paralleled with Zaun, the place, in a lot of ways, since season 1 and it didn’t stopped in season 2. The song “I Am The Monster You Created” is not just about Vi and Jinx, but about how Piltover created the conditions that allowed Jinx to exist. She is the final embodiment of all that neglect and violence. She is the unpredictable reaction to Piltover’s actions.

Jinx embodies all of Zaun’s values: she is broken, chaotic, unpredictable and dangerous. She is also brilliant, inventive and strong. Much like the city, she didn’t need the Sun to thrive. Jason Spisak in season 1 even talked about how Silco sees Zaun in Jinx and vice-versa and that’s part of why he loves her so much. She is all he loves about his city, the good and the people in it. That’s also why it is Jinx who ends up as the symbol of Zaun and not Sevika, Vi or even Ekko.

And who in that AU is also completely different, reflecting the changes in the city? Powder. In that reality, she is helpful, reliable, good-natured and also brilliant in her inventivity. And, notice that Powder is a community leader of sorts, always helping everyone’s projects and managing everyone’s lives, paralleling Jinx becoming Zaun’s symbol of resistance in the OG universe, with the potential of becoming Zaun’s leader too.

Ekko needed to fall in love with Powder, bc it represents him falling in love with his city again. The way Ekko gave up on Jinx, choosing to believe that she was dead and belonged to Silco (just like the Undercity also belonged to him), unbeknownst to him, he was also giving up on the Lanes. Ekko says it himself, Arcane is not a subtle show. He says “I gave up on the Lanes, gave up on you”. He’s talking to Powder here, but he is also talking to Jinx, which means, in his head Powder and Jinx are not necessarily different people.

That’s why I think it’s bonkers that ppl are running with the ideia that Ekko only loves Powder or that Powder and Jinx are different people (I mean, they are, but only as so far as how they had different lives). If he only loves Powder, than ep 7 looses its meaning. It’s not about finding the will to save his city, but now about…what? That ep it’s about Ekko seeing the potential of the Undercity, to have hope again, and that passes through Jinx. Jinx has the potential to become like Powder. That’s why the first thing he does when he comes back is go after her.

Another way ppl miss the forest from the trees is when they say that “the shipp is impossible bc she killed his friends. He could never forgive that. Imagine dating a girl who killed your friends, such unhealthy relationship”. I never quite know how to answer things like that. It betrays a lack of curiosity, a lack of imagination that is almost tragic, I think.

Not saying that the show needed to just forget that, but that’s not a reason for Ekko and Jinx to not become romantically involved, it’s actually a great way to tell a story about forgiveness and what it entails. That’s also a theme in Arcane and something the writers wanted to hint at to Ekko specifically. Like…why do you think Silco appears in the AU and says what he says? “The way thing you can do in life, is finding the power to forgive”. Again…Arcane is not a subtle show. That’s also why I would love to have a least one scene with Jinx and Ekko bc I wanted to see that: Ekko finding within himself, the power to maybe forgive Jinx for the hurt she caused him.

And that’s why I think Ekko and Jinx are canon, and the arguments against it are missing the point of the show Arcane in its entirety.

I've a piece of advice for everyone who trying to shifting/void whatever just give your self 3 days

For the next 3 days spend your day reprogramming your mind look ik going to void /shifting is easy you don't need a whole ass method or whatevaa but as we have certain believes and perspective towards life so initially it's a bit hard to just accept something new for our subconscious it says (no that's not true)

But just imagine you are at a new place so obviously you don't know the routes right? But what if someone keep telling you again n again that this way goes to hotel, this way goes hotel after few time you'll be like ohhh fuckk ik can you plz stop

Same way we have to let our mind get familiar with this new route

But firstly you should believe that shifting/ void do exist don't be like ohh is it even real it seems unreal to you because you haven't heared it from your childhood but that's doesn't mean it does not exist, so first of all stop questing yourself about it's existence

Now what you have to do is select 3 days from your preference and keep it in your mind that on the third day you are going to shift another thing during these 3 days at the initial 2 days don't try to shift I'll explain you later why you should not.

Day 1- just take a piece of paper or your phone anything it's up to you there should be two columns first believes second disbelieve now what you gonna do is on the believes section write things which you actually believe such as water keeps us hydrated but along with these sentence put some shifting/ void sentence repeatedly such as I can shift, shifting is easy for me, regardless of everything I'll shift, and much more it should be in a way which seems natural to you that's why I said put basic things which you actually believe in between first line should be any basic thing which you believe then about shifting then something else then again shifting like that and on the disbelief side write down things which you don't believe keep it simple like ghosts, black magic, and so on once you done go through this list throughout the day and lock it down in your subconscious that yeah this is what I believe and this is what I don't okayy?

Day 2- so this day you have to show gratitude towards whatever you believe like God or may be universe or whatever your superpower your guardian angel it could be anything show gratitude that omg I'm so grateful I came to know about this concept I meant to fulfill my desires or I deserve to live my DR that's why out of millions of people only few people know about this and I'm one of them also you just have to stay excited of course not the whole day but whenever you can because one day has already pass you are on the second and finally tomorrow is the day when you entering your DR so stay happy cheer the moment, feel excited about it you get it right?

Day 3- FINALLY YOUR DAY HAS ARRIVED TODAY IS THE DAY MY KUDOSSS!

This entire day you have to think that everything every single thing whatever you are doing throughout the day is bringing you closer to your DR let's say you are drinking water you'll be like ysss this water helps in my shifting, omg I'm taking a nap this brings me closer to my DR and stuff like that also keep reminding yourself that today is the day every second every minute that passes bring you close to the time when you are going to shift and enter in your desired reality.

Now at night do whatever method you follow for shifting and just enter like yess ENTER IN YOUR DESIRED REALITY GOOO DO IT!!!

An insane 100k word ride that is a long, alternate version of S3 in my heart. The characterizations, writing and everything is so on point that it literally feels official in every way except formatting.

This was written in 19 days, but it's so masterfully crafted that I genuinely find it to be one of my favorite NOVELS of all time. The only fic I've ever actually downloaded just in case it gets lost for whatever reason. SO. MUCH. HAPPENS. IN THIS FIC. AND IT'S ALL FANTASTIC.

Nothing I could say could properly describe how incredible and wild the plot is. Trust me. It'll cure all your S2 aches and give you one of the best fanfics, nay, stories of all time. Just. In general. Butt clenching moments, laughs, tears, excitement- it's a rollercoaster.

No slog, fantastic pacing, so many twists and turns that still always make sense and are so fun and compelling... I read this in less than a day and am already re-reading it and will occasionally do so for the rest of my life. This doesn't only build off of Good Omens with love and care, in some places, I'd say it transcends the source material.

This fic is already blowing up for good reasons, but I think it deserves as much love as possible, so I'm submitting it to your wonderful blog and hoping more people can discover this brilliant gem.

ben 10 2006 kevin arc: addicts arent good or bad. they can be kind and good and pure and everything a person 'should' be and circumstances can still align and draw them to addiction. kevin is a sweet kid who wants to make friends and is continually shown to be kind when sober, but even in his very first moments it's seen that his trip can drive him to hurt others and himself. he doesnt have any other choice though, because he couldn't survive without his addiction and the power that it gives him. this is understood, and yet ben's arc is about understanding that no matter how much you may care about an addict or a mentally ill loved one, no matter how many chances you try to give them, there comes a point where it is lethal for you to keep trying to help someone who cannot be helped. Ben gives kevin mercy, tools to help himself, and while their might be animosity about it, he really only wants kevin to be ok but even if you believe in someone with all of your soul, you cannot stay with them if they can't value you in the way you value them. Addiction is not a fault, but it is also not an illness that breeds nice people, and continuing to try and help someone who will hurt you for trying is less helping and more self-flaggelation.

I hate season 7 of "Buffy the vampire slayer"

Let's get this straight, I like these series. They are fun and entertaining (and I only started watching it because of Spuffy). But I HATE season 7.

First of all, what is the deal with those guys? Out of the blue all characters (Spike excluded. Love him❤️) start doubting Buffy and her leadership. This girl saved all of you hundreds of times, and when the world is on the edge of collapsing, you turn your backs on her?! If she's such a bad leader, then why did you put all the responsibility on her shoulders? Why did you bring her back from heaven? To tell her, that she's not better than you? I'm sorry guys, but your crew is: a whining bitch-boy, magic (read as 'drug') addicted witch, a blorb of energy, a former vengeance demon and a killer watcher. With your list of deeds, I have bad news for you: none of you goes to heaven. NONE. She IS better than you.

Second of all, what is their sudden problem with Spike? In the last season all Scoobies want to kill Spike and say that it's because he's dangerous. Well, he is. Just like all of you. Your killer count talks louder than you (he killed because he was souless and he feeds on blood. You killed because you could. There is difference). They keep saying that he should be taken out because he is dangerous, and yet remind me, who held him by their side while he was useful? And did Scoobies thank him even once? (I actually don't remember. Tell me, if they did) Buffy is the only person who actually tries to be reasonable and accept that Spike has changed. In return she gets a potential slayer,a school headmaster and her own father figure being all mad at her, saying that she is the problem. If you want to kill him so badly, just do it already and stop making Buffy responsible for your own wishes (not like I would forgive them if they did)

Point number 3. Again with the hypocrisy of Scoobies. Faith comes back, sees that girls can't stop complaining and decides to take them out clubbing. Buffy sees that and gets mad (logically). Later on everyone decides that Faith should be the new leader. Why? Why would a former killer and a traitor be a good leader? Because she took a bunch of teens drinking, when you should all be ready to fight? If I recall, it was almost considered a crime for Buffy to rest, when there were better times. Now, when Buffy is tired and stressed from constant responsibility, all the potential slayers say that she's "not cool". Scoobies just can't be more hypocritical. Faith killed people out if her own free will. She teamed up with a villain, and she enjoyed it. Buffy made one mistake of attacking one villain. What do Scoobies get out of that? "Buffy is not better than us. Faith is. 🎶Let's put this guy infront of the crowd🎶". And let's be honest with that: Giles acts petty in here. The only reason he stands against Buffy, is because she got sick of him lying to her and telling her to kill Spike, so she honestly told him that she can't trust any of them. He got offended by her disobedience so much, that he decided to get rid of her. That's not a nice thing to do to a girl who is like a daughter to you.

Btw, Faith deserves a second chance and Spike doesn't? Spike was SOULESS. He wasn't supposed to be good and yet he almost died just to be the better version of himself. At the same time Faith was supposed to be the protector of people, yet she decided to join the homicide. She was creepy enough to SMELL THE KNIFE. And yet we get a whole storyline about "bad Buffy still thinking of her as a killer." The hero we deserve, I suppose? Btw, Faith IS a killer. She enjoyed it. I don't know why Scoobies want to forgive her so badly and give her a bunch of teens, taken away from Buffy, but they don't trust Spike.

And my favourite. The cherry on top. THEY KICKED HER OUT OF HER OWN HOUSE. Giles had his own place. Xander has his own place. Willow wasn't homeless before she moved into the Summers's house. And yet, when they needed a place to put all the potential slayers, they took them into Buffy's house. And then they kick her out. The "good guys".

Buffy needs no enemies with friends like that.

“W-what?” He stammers nervously, in disbelief at your compliment. It feels as though his heart is going to beat right out of his chest at this point, dizzy from your words of praise, stars painting the edges of his vision from the alacrity of his racing pulse.

“I said you’re pretty, Co-Co. You’re just so pretty. Your heartbeat is so pretty. Everything about you is so pretty. And you’re mine.” You tell him, feeling the way his heart stutters, palpitating in his chest as he lets out a whine, whispering a string of desperate little thank-yous. Yes yes yes, your words are pure ecstasy. He wants to be all yours so badly. He wants you to keep him and never let him go.

You relish in the feeling of the rapid thumpthumpthumpthump against your cheek, you can literally hear his blood being pumped from atrium to ventricle. He’s so vulnerable like this, and you’re grateful to be the one he allows close enough to do this. Copia’s heartbeat is a clear window into what he feels for you. You can feel his deep love for you with every strong pound, you can feel his shy nervousness with every fluttery palpitation that leaves him breathless. You can read him so well, just by listening to his beautiful heartbeat. It’s so incredibly him, so distinctly Copia, you could recognize it anywhere.

I hate how much bummy shippers downplay and minimize Eddie's trauma in comparison to Bucks. They both have distinct traumas and coping mechanisms, but it's clear that many bummies vilify Eddie when he encounters shit that triggers him and past traumas resurface, causing him to react in a specific way.

They will stop at nothing to protect Buck, very few, if any, will criticize him due to his trauma. That's all well and good, but it's irritating that people are so eager to give in and coddle Buck, while simultaneously condemning Eddie for doing the same shit.

I understand that Eddie is a very private and reticent person, and in contrast to Buck, the writers do not really go into great detail about Eddie's trauma compared to Buck. So, while many of us have a better grasp of Buck's past and his trauma, that doesn't change the fact that Eddie too suffers from deeply ingrained trauma from his early years. similar to Buck.

Every time the writers decide to put buck through more shit and he’s back juggling trauma again it’s,

“Why can’t buck be happy!”

“Stop putting buck through shit!”

“Buck deserves to be happy!”

“Buck deserves to be loved!”

“Buck deserves a fun time!”

Which, sure, I agree with completely, but I wouldn't be irritated with it, if the replies to when the authors put Eddie through more shit and he's back juggling trauma weren't,

“Eddies a dick!”

“Eddies needs therapy!”

“Eddie needs to get his shit together!”

“Eddies not a good friend!”

“Buck deserves better!”

There is an obvious bias. Like, why are some of you unable to treat Buck and Eddies traumas equally? Why is it that some of you have to discuss Buck like he has superiority over Eddie with such a blatant undertone?

Why does Eddie have to work hard and figure out his shit, whereas Buck needs everything and needs it handed to him? This season, there were plenty of examples. Many of you exposed your real selves, and I now understand how you feel about Eddie. It's obvious, in my opinion, that none of you genuinely cared about Eddie.

Y’all seize every chance to vilify Eddie, paint him in a negative light, and denounce everything he does, while continually pointing out his shortcomings and faults, but you will place Buck on a pedestal and treat him like a saint, while disregarding what he has done because "He has trauma and deserves to be loved🥺"

And they only do that with buck btw.

In 7x04, they still found a way to make Eddie the asshole💀.

Yes, he was the asshole because he was innocently enjoying himself with his new friend, with whom he shares interests with. However, Buck couldn't handle that and chose to ACTUALLY hurt Eddie before going to make out with the friend Eddie was hanging out with.

But Eddie is an asshole, right? He's the asshole because he didn't invite Buck to trivia, despite the fact that Eddie has asked Buck several times to play basketball with him, but Buck declined. But as soon as Eddie found a friend eager to accompany him, Buck chose to act like a big dick and hurt Eddie, but Eddie is the asshole in this circumstance, correct?

But the bummies are just cool with it because it worked out well for Buck. so we can overlook the fact that Buck harmed Eddie, because at least he got to kiss a man, so it's all good!

Tommy had barely been here for a minute, and despite the fact that his behavior had nothing to do with trauma at all—rather, he was just a big asshole, Sexist, and a racist—bummies were fighting tooth and nail to defend his actions, but were eager to blame Eddie for his triggered response to Kim, despite the fact that it was prompted and stemmed directly from trauma.

The difference is that they feel comfortable defending Tommy because he has a direct relationship with Buck. If he wasn't with Buck, no one would be fighting to keep that man on the show. If Buck had been a direct victim of Tommy's conduct in season 2, and Eddie ended up with Tommy in season 7, their asses would be mad as fuck.

The truth is, they never truly wanted queer Eddie. They just wanted him to be queer so Buck could have the pleasure of kissing a man. It was never about representation for the both of them; it was only ever about Buck. Which is why they stopped pushing and supporting the idea of queer Eddie the moment Tommy kissed Buck.

They don't like him as a standalone figure. They like him as a stepping stone for Bucks' character.

So, moral of the story, they enjoy disregarding and discounting Eddie's pain since he expresses it and deals with it differently than Buck. So as a result, its very hard for them to really perceive Eddie as his own character with depth and complexity because for the longest time, they only viewed him as "the guy that could give us buck kissing men."

• the sanji bit threw two thoughts into my head and it's both the "I love women (romantic)" thing and "i love women (trans)" thing.

Romantic: Sanji starts off all laughing at the overdramaric misery of his friends being step-clowns (new insult courtesy of him), but then, as he's serving Robin and Nami some snacks, he catches sight of the loose papers pile. He offers to assist with organizing it so Robin can enjoy her book and Nami can enjoy her newspaper and drink. They graciously accept, and he takes his place there with a smile, begins sorting them between fliers and bounties.

Then he finds a certain article.

The One That Trash Talked Buggy For Being Trans.

Oh that shit is NOT gonna fly. Sanji is livid. Not only is that just.... mean, but he may have been in his own variant of ""hell"" on the okama island, but he met so many people between his training, and there's nothing WRONG with it. Women are women and women deserve RESPECT, damn it!!

Then, as he's frothing, he finds a bounty - updated since her coming out, name still the same, amount still higher than most expect, but the picture is changed.

He doesn't even realize his nose is bleeding until a drop falls on the paper.

Poor Sanji has to play off the heart flutters and face flush and nosebleed as sheer Respect Women Juice Induced Anger and not a flutter crush on a clown.

Nobody believes him but he still gives it the old college try.

It only really "comes out" as it were when the crews wind up meeting. Luffy is immediately tucking himself into Buggy's personal space with big smiles and bigger laughter, wrapping around his auntie-mom happily. She huffs but let's him cling, a sign enough on its own that she isn't all that bothered. And the eye roll, the half smile, the gruff hair ruffle-

Oh poor Sanji is gone. He is swooning, is spinning, is presenting a snack and affirmations. The other Strawhats are rolling their eyes, casual flippancy, fond exasperation.

Crocodile and Mihawk are Processing, Buggy is flustered and astounded, and it winds up bringing out a slight possessive streak in the two dark haired former warlords and it is HILARIOUS.

Trans route:

Sanji gets SUCH gender envy, and things go fairly similar to the above, but they wind up actually becoming something really soft and sweet with Sanji carefully hedging questions and Buggy just going "due are you a fucking dumbass, your crew loves you, they'd defend you to the ends of the world, they'd never be mad that you're a woman"

Sanji: I'm trans.

Ussop: oh I'm nonbinary! Neat!!

Nami, a lesbian: I AM THRIVING

Luffy: mmm good food

Anyway yeah that's it and ai am soft for Sanji and Buggy becoming friends or at the very least Awkward Friends.

Honestly, Sanji falling for fem!Buggy makes sense because fem!Buggy is just-- She is stunning. Gorgeous. Perfect. The only reason why she isn't transfem canonically is that it would be too much for this world to handle. And of course, Sanji, being the lover of women he is, would absolutely fall for her. Who wouldn't???? Sanji wants to die a little bit after the realization, though. If Luffy and Zoro ever find out, he won't be able to deal with the embarrassment.

My favorite is honestly Genderfluid Sanji but the point here is they find out thanks to Buggy and it's the most unexpected thing in the world. Hilarious, even. Hello! Not a question, sorry… Just wanted to say that Exposure is quite literally the best fanfic I’ve ever read, so thank you for writing it! And I’m sooo excited for the continuation! (Although don’t feel pressured or anything! Take your time!)

Also you wrote in a reply earlier that some people don’t like this fic since it’s so heavily “Nathan-centric” but to me that was the BEST part. And that’s why I’d always recommend this fic because I think Nathan deserved to be much more fleshed out in the game but for obvious reasons he couldn’t have been… However in Exposure I love that you did what the devs couldn’t: give Nathan an ACTUAL story, actual feelings and actual persona—and perhaps a chance at redemption.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that even though this is a Grahamscott ff the reason it got me hooked years ago was because you did such a fantastic job at writing Nathan—and all of the other characters. I feel like he’s so hated in the fandom, which I’ll just never ever understand—did these people not play LiS through the end? Yes, Nathan did bad things, however everyone seems to forget that he was barely even in control of himself, his actions. I personally never disliked him: if LiS taught me anything it was that no one is what they seem to be. And Nathan is so damn misunderstood in the fandom by so many people, it frustrates me so much…

Anyway (God, why did I write so much, sorry…) I finished my reread of it today and I still only have praise for Exposure. :)

Nathan's treatment in the narrative and by the fandom was one of the main reasons why I started writing this in the first place. I fully hated Nathan in my first playthrough of Life is Strange, until the twist in the second to last episode.

I find his character super interesting and multi-dimensional. It was really upsetting how he was written off by the devs after the reveal of Jefferson as the twist villain.

I wish we had learned more about him in the game, but alas. That's what fanfic is for. If he had been more fleshed out I may not have written Exposure, so in a way, it's good that they didn't say much about him. It opens the door to many headcanons and fanworks.

I just wish the general fandom was more receptive to works that explore his mindset and personality. People tend to assume that if you enjoy a "problem" character, it means you agree with them or think they did nothing wrong. I just think they're neat.

People assume that he raped Kate and are quick to point that out. I personally don't think he did. The game wanted the player (and Max) to believe that, so I don't blame anyone for believing it. The twist near the end of the game opened the door for me (and others) to question that assumption.

Toxicity

We only see toxicity in others but not in ourselves.

I was thinking about Sydney today and how everyone seems to think wanting "the best" for her means overruling her feelings, her choices, and her free will. And how toxic that behavior is.

And ultimately, how much it belittles her.

Since S1, she's been giving us clear signs of always, no matter what, choosing and trusting Carmy, even when she knows for a fact he’s not perfect, even if their relationship is not perfect either, as no relationship is btw, even if he has a lot of work to do and even if he doesn’t deserve her, she has always chosen him. Now, her fanbase thinks that because they are "protective of her ", or because they love her and because they say they want the best for her, that gives them some kind of greenlight to completely ignore her will and her choices. Her autonomy as a person. I know she's a fictional character, but symbolically speaking, that is.

If someone did that to us we could clearly see how that would be wrong, even if they had their best interests at heart. Right?

There's a difference between respecting someone and enabling their toxic behavior and those who do this are making it pass for "protectiveness" when it's actually infantilizing her in a sense. It's a protectiveness based on the assumption that Syd doesn't know what's best for her, she can't make her own choices, she just doesn't know better, and she's not smart enough to know what/who is best for her. In other words, it's another way of invalidating her choices that may or may not be right, like anybody else's but are only hers to make, independently. Showing her real respect would be supporting her and hoping for the best, wishing her the best even when we might fear that may not be the final outcome for her if she takes that course of action we'd advise her against "for her own good", but the truth is we don't know... What we do know is that there's love in the meantime and that her heart is still in it. So that should be enough for us if we really trusted her.

I think the worst dichotomy and what I have a problem with the most is not all I just mentioned because I can see the heart of those who are soooooooooo wrong being in the right place despite being absolutely off the mark, BUT what really sends me is the double standard of say 60% of the fandom (?) who are great and really quick to spot the toxic behaviors in Donna, the C person, even Richie or the Faks but when it comes to themselves, they perceive themselves just as "Team Syd/ Protectors of Syd", as if she needed bodyguards to guard her against Carmy, and against her own inability to wisely choose what's in her best interest. They just don't even think about any of the other factors I pointed out. Not to mention the sanctimoniousness of the implicit oxymoron: "If they did that to me I would fucking hate it but since I’m the one who’s doing it to a fictional character, that I’m projecting onto, that makes it OK". I mean...

At the end of the day, the writer is the one who decides what to do or not with that character, we can have our opinions and preferences, of course, but what I’m saying is if you’re coming from a place of judging a character, projecting onto it your belief system and your own frustrations, preferences, fears, etc, then at the very least admit it.

And once you do, please note that:

You are not being protective of Sydney, you are making it all about you.

Don't get me wrong, we all do it. I do it all the time with the C person, for instance, I totally project onto her my absolute intolerance for people like her IRL. I hate them, I fear them, I do not respect them, I get the fuck away from them, I protect myself from people like her, I expect the very worst from them and act accordingly. That character reminds me of those who are that way and thus I feel this instant rejection for her. That being said, I gotta keep it fair, if she does something right, I will give her that. If she fucks up, like she did on the show, I will 100% call her out on that too because since I know I project, I keep myself in check enough at all times to make sure that my projection and personal bias against her do not prevent me from actually watching the show so when I analyze her scenes I make the conscious effort of separating my projections from my judgment and then dissect her scenes and come to XY and Z conclusions. I do not let myself get in my own way and that's how I know her character was and always will be unnecessary for the plot. I THINK it was a wrong creative choice from the very get-go, but since I gotta go by what the writer says and shows me and implies on screen, I do not let all that interfere with my watching experience and subsequent interpretations. Meaning: it's not about me, or about the kind of people I like or not IRL, it's about the C person, the character, and the writer that is writing her into existence, and from that standpoint I can say that I do not want her on the show, that I hate the relationship she had with Carmy. I don't think she adds anything really valuable to the plot, especially considering there is a character like Sydney in the equation who could add sooooo much more and so much better storytelling material if given the chance, but none of that would ever stop me from really seeing what Storer delivered - a character who enabled Carmy to see all those things about himself and his past that no longer serve him, and who therefore will be one of the catalysts of change for him - whether I like her or not.

I hope I made myself clear. This is not throwing shade, it's more like a manifesto against the patronizing ways of "supporting" Syd's character that I have been seeing all over since June 27.

But if I didn't make myself clear enough, here's the bottom line in a nutshell:

I get the genuine concern about Syd, I get how relatable her character is, especially for WOC, and I get the protectiveness, I just simply do not think any of those things are more important than trusting her judgment and if he's the one for her, then he's the one for her. I wish we could all agree on that and unite in the Sydcarmy wing of this awesome fandom, for the cause of not only wanting the best for the characters, both, but also for the respect they deserve, understanding by respect the opposite of condensing bias for or against a character, or at the very least the equivalent of support and trust in her process.

In Sydney Adamu I trust. She knows better, not me. (Yes, I am taking a leap of faith here, I am aware).

I'm so immensly moved I'm struggling to find the right words. Thank you doesn't even feel enough! I feel beyond happy and honored that I've managed to help, inspire, motivate and comfort people. That's what I want to do and if I manage to, it fills my heart with so much gratitude and joy!

But really, without you guys, I wouldn't be standing where I'm standing with my blog at this point.

I loved Magnifico from the moment I first saw him on screen and as soon as I understood enough of his story, it was more than clear to me, that I had to not only create a safe space for fans who - just like me - realized that he isn't a villain but also a place where I can fight against the very toxic stance against traumatized people and mental disorders.

And no! Never feel bad or silly for loving something because of your age! Age doesn't matter. I'm in my late 20s and one of my friends is already 30 so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Who's to tell us we cannot love certain things anymore just because we aren't kids/teenagers anymore? People who spread such information aren't better than all those other bullies and they're obviously wrong. You can be a 100 years old and still love plushies and dolls, or Legos, or disney - it's not just for kids!

Also, while I'm more than pleased to see that more and more people start siding with Magnifico and becoming vocal that he's not a villain but a traumatized protagonist, I'm also greatly concerned by people still shaming, ridiculing, belittling and villainizing trauma.

The fact that Disney itself has pushed those toxic stigmas is beyond me! Just like one of my greatest fellow defenders stated : When did bullying a traumatized person into uncontrollable rage become acceptable? When did it become acceptable to villainize traumatized people? Since when does the message "true love breaks every curse" matter no more?

When did people lose so much compassion and became ok with pushing hate and unforgiveness?

Standing up for trauma and defending those people is not justifying wrong actions! It's calling awareness! Compassion and love! It's explaining and drawing a big difference!

There are so many toxic statements I hear people make toward traumatized people and people with mental disorders. And I think it's one of the cruelest, most disgusting and heartless things!

Magnifico has become a symbol for so many and a beacon to rise awareness to trauma and the toxic stance of disney and some people out there.

Btw, Japan has even created a hashtag that celebrates Magnifico. The japanese have been stressing from the start that Magnifico isn't a villain. The japanese amazing! ✨️

Least favorite thing about them: Nothing. Only when he gets really mischaracterized by official writers who don't understand him, which happens A LOT

Random headcanon: He can do ballet and it's because it's something Talia taught him while he was growing up in the league and being trained to learn many other things. He's a skilled professional at it now because of this and also bonds with his sister Cass over it and will sometimes even join her in her dancing. He also tries teaching Jon too, which can become fun for them both, and his other friends sometimes as well whenever they get curious or don't actually understand it that much like they think they do. Damian also owns a pair of green ballet slippers, but usually keeps them put away in his closet to keep them safe and clean and only takes them out when he really does want to use them.

Unpopular opinion: Okay sooo, a lot of people believe that Talia's character just gets only more ruined because of Damian's existence or whatever, but I don't believe that at all. Damian may be her son and is big part of her life because of it, but his character itself has nothing to do with hers like that at all when it comes to hateful writers choosing to write her horribly and just as another evil, lunatic villain and whatever else. Some people even say that he stole her story, but he did grow up with her during those 10 years of his, so of course he's gonna have the same life she dealt with and is also gonna have to get through certain issues from it now too because of it. But the point is that if anyone's gonna get blamed for Talia's usual trash characterisation, it should be the writers who hate her, NOT Damian who has many writers of his own who don't even treat him that well or like him that much at all either just like with Talia. Trying to pick on him is never going to fix anything about her. If Talia's ever gonna get anything better that she deserves in comics and other things, it needs to be done by writers who actually have care about her character and don't have anything weird against her that just only causes bad intentions of messing her up and then THAT'S what will finally start doing justice for her. And this not meant as an argument towards anyone or whatever btw, this is just me stating my opinion and beliefs about the whole thing

Song I associate with them: Self love by Metro Boomin & Coi Leray (Mostly because even though Damian may always put on a very confident act and always seems so prideful of himself a lot of the times, he actually has a lot of insecurities underneath all of that and doesn't actually always think so great of himself as a person)

Favorite thing about them: I really always liked his leadership style, especially in the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon, which I grew up with

Least favorite thing about them: Only when he's potrayed as a dumb, clumsy guy in some canon stories just to lift up other characters and put them in a bigger spotlight instead. It makes no sense because he's a professional acrobat and always has been that way since he was a little kid, so how could he ever be so trippy all over the place as if there are invisible banana peels getting in the way everytime?! And he is very smart, especially with all of the important experience he has from his many years of hero work, so he's not dumb either and if he was, he wouldn't have made it so far with this kind of life because of it or ever get much done like he did because he has to overly depend on others knowledge

Brotp: Dick and Starfire, Beast boy, Raven, Cyborg (I know he's friends with many others too, but this is the group I grew up with and am more attached to, so they're my fave to see together)

Otp: Dickkory because they bring the best out in eachother and have so much love for one another too

Notp: DickBabs because I just don't think they really fit that well together at all and most times Barbara just makes Dick feel bad in a lot of ways with how she usually treats him in a romantic relationship, and that's not a healthy thing to deal with at all. And then there's also Batcest and Slade x Dick (which I don't even get at all because Slade is just such a horrible, gross and very toxic guy)

Random headcanon: Years ago, back when he would used to have long hair still, he one time had it tied up in a ponytail and then a villain chopped it off in half while fighting him. Dick was pissed and really kicked their butt for doing that

Unpopular opinion: People always think of Dick as the positive, sunshine guy and then there are the ones who get very mad about it and say that he's actually the angry, tough guy because him being super friendly and happy is just too "ooc". I don't listen to any of that stuff, because I believe that he's actually both. He IS a friendly guy with a warm, charming, humorous attitude that easily attracts others, and is very much an inspiration to many because of his positive, sunshine vibes as a great, hardworking hero, but none of it makes him dumb, weak or gullible, because he IS also the type who can become very serious and gets mad when he needs to be, also doesn't actually take bull from anyone, can be chaotic and crazy, works a LOT, is independent, does have a lot of intelligence and especially experience that should never be forgotten about just because he's nice, and also definitely has the determined mind to take care of things and get them done even though others will sometimes try to tell him what to do, but he doesn't actually listen because he's not the type to easily be controlled that way like a puppy would be and if he believes it's something that needs the attention and it's what should be done and no one else is doing it, then he will do it

Song I associate with them: Annihilate by Metro Bommin, Swae Lee, Lil Wayne & Offset (because it's about being fearless, embracing self strength and individuality, and becoming a much more independent person, and I think that totally fits Dick because he's not the type to fear much and hates being stuck under Batman's shadow and having independence is something that always had an important role in how Dick's life goes)

It's very nice and really shows the struggle he goes through as a hero a lot of the times. Also, I really always liked the way he draws Dick, because he doesn't just look like everyone else and isn't sharing same face syndrome with his brothers and Bruce either, it's just a look that's unique to only him and it fits him very well. It's the exact way I always imagine him looking like whenever I envision him in my mind, even the hairstyle that's given to him by this artist too!!!

oh goodness gracious... well we do have Some thoughts and we dunno if they match your own concerns since, we purposefully don't go out looking for whatever the creator has said but yeah even from a distance it's. definitely has his own takes on certain characters, headcanons, and the like. it was silly at first but as time went on and the more effort he put into pushing negativity over certain things the less fun it became. we think, if you want people to dislike a character, you try and make them dislikeable within the context of the story and then let people form those opinions. rather than being weird about the fact that there are still people who do like the character and punishing them by denying them the most basic things or even involving them in the story at all because Doesn't Deserve It. yes this is primarily about unple/asant

related but... too much of a reliance on telling stories with twitter or other unofficial platforms. did we learn nothing from the dumbledore is gay tweet. like a huge amount of information on the wiki that is very important to understanding the characters are just is NOT in the game, like if you played the game fully you'd still need to rely on the wiki to be able to participate in fandom. honestly a large part of that is why we're so biased towards certain characters! unple/asant and infe/cted are the only characters with lore and trivia and such that we've bothered to go on the wiki for and memorize. we've played the game for hours and hours but that doesnt mean much lol. once again, unple/asant especially, it literally DOESN'T TALK or participate in ANY of the active dynamic story because Doesn't Deserve It but there's still things to know about unple/asant and people who like the game just want something!! like dunno the overuse of social media in storytelling just makes it so much more unfun, we don't like how information is released and the fact that we need to rely on external material that... is sometimes taken back because the creator has gone on record Just Saying Shit. favorite example vv

Which is really funny considering it has 1 piece of dialogue on the game. So it can physically speak, and is also not "mewing 24/7" by result of having that dialogue (pretty sure the creator was just encouraged to say that without giving a fuck but, whatever). but the things that happen in game are second to the creator's twitter feed AMIRIGHTFELLAS

3. the,. the ableism. we've heard people tried to bring it up with the creator in the past and they were ignored so we feel comfortable mentioning it lol. bi/ve is a stereotype of someone who suffers from paranoia really, we mean we love her but... lol... and we will say it again pe/st should not canonically have npd or aspd. like omggg the evil character that robs people has two pds negatively stereotyped as belonging to evil people we're sure there was no bias in this decision. maybe we'd be less bothered if people didn't treat it as so serious and pretend to be cluster b allies like "you have to give him some understanding cuz he has aspd and npd 🥺" like no because he's evil, also maybe it wouldn't hurt to care about real people with those pds instead of a caricature. also the half-hearted throwing around of the word "mute" for unple/asant has been pointed out as ableist by a lot of people.
