Is everyone cool now. Can I say I think Belos was in love with his brother, that his level of obsession is not normal or healthy or remotely familial, that everything he does is him taking Caleb's name in vain to commit an atrocity entirely based on heartbreak, can i say that yet. Because Belos's obsession with Caleb is everywhere once you know where to look for it.

The grimwalkers, yes, but also tiny things, like how witch children play games of witch hunter and witch, or how Caleb's art is all over the Emperor's Coven.

Deeper down, how he hates witches because Caleb left him for one, how Caleb didn't want to spend the rest of his life in that shitty little shack in that hateful little village with his evil little brother forever. They're a reminder that Caleb didn't love him enough to resist sin, that Caleb didn't love him enough to dedicate his entire life to him. Belos wants revenge for that more than anything, more than ego or accolades at their demise.

Even Belos's love of the human realm isn't without his lingering feelings, because what made him love the human realm in the first place? Surely not the villagers who would have turned on him in an instant, or fighting to survive famine and cold winter. It was Caleb, because Caleb always kept him fed, and Caleb kept him warm, and Belos wanted Hunter to come with him and be that for him- because one thing about the coven sigils is that without the eclipse, they don't work, and if Hunter came with Belos to the human realm, he would be fine once they got there.

Belos needs Caleb to be around, he can't live without it, so he revives his brother over and over again in more ways than one, desecrating his corpse and everything he made and loved. At this point, the citizens of the boiling isles are living on Caleb's corpse as much as the Titan's.

It's so utterly terrifying how all consuming it is. Caleb can never have anything sacred because Belos takes it all in vain, just to surround himself with the comfort Caleb used to bring him. It's one of the most horrific aspects of Belos's character, and also one of my favorites, so I wanted to talk about it.

I'm not saying everyone has to agree with the viewpoint that Belos is capable of romantic attraction (in my specific interpretation he's gay) but I get confused a lot when people talk about belos being incapable of romantic love due to being a "narcissist" (abelist) or him being aroace when discussions of his relationship to Caleb and Hunter come up and people try to talk about his obsession in any manner other than "he is black and white evil and obsessed for no reason". On the one hand I think it's very harmful to portray characters you headcannon have NPD as sexless monsters, on another hand I think separating belos from his uncomfortable obsessions and ignoring the boundaries he breaks in a decidedly innapropriate manner is erasing an interesting interpretation of his character, and on the third hand I have inconceivably summoned: This is literally him

Liking Caleb as much as I do is hard because there's not a lot of art of him that isn't ship art... I don't really look for Caleb art anymore though because I get all lightheaded (he's very handsome okay.) but I try to draw the Calebs I want to see in the wild. I was also thinking about posting more analysis stuff about him but my problem is I am so biased in his favor because of the massive crush that I fear I'll have a bad take or two. Sigh.... I really like your work and your no demon realm au but I implore you to remove the detail of Evelyn being casually naked both around Hunter and in public because that would just get her put on the sex offender registry, a little more serious then just a little woopsie with the law and more, her doing the sex offender shuffle even if she had no bad intentions

Gee it's almost like it's not real and her being naked as a gag has no bearing on her life because in fake fictional worlds you can pretend like things that are illegal in the real world like digging up your brothers corpse and reviving him and adopting a 5 year old entirely off the grid aren't important enough to be acknowledged. It's almost as if nudity isn't inherently sexual to her and she is literally hunters biological mother so it's not like it's particularly shocking since you know she changed his diapers so it's not important to them. It's almost like she's on fucking house arrest as indicated by her visible ankle monitor in my drawings of her and she cannot leave her legal property and also it's kind of implied she's on house arrest because she's a nudist. It's almost like you people jumping to insane conclusions about things that don't matter and aren't real are getting on my nerves or something. Wouldn't that be interesting.
