I love the idea of Effects, I really do, but after learning about how webGL works, I'm quite confused why they released something that doesn't exactly work with their current system and without giving a headsup to the userbase. From what I understood, webGL is processed clientside, so while it won't strain the servers, it's highly dependent on what device the user is playing on. So, pretty much if you're playing on anything less than a modern, strong computer, you are either limited on some working or none at all. That means mobile only players are, for the most part, locked out of this feature no matter what.

As for system limitations. The way that the dragon layering works, they have to duplicate dragon lineart & shadows to be able to do those full coverage effects (pastel, void, moonrise/sunrise, etc.), otherwise you'll lose the dragon's feature and it'll only show as a silhouette, that's why it's fucking up linebreaking terts and eyes. The only way I can see them fixing this is making every possible lineart & shadow with each and every tert + eyes or just not have any near 100% opacity Effects.

I know staff were so excited about working with new tech and all the possible uses. I'm sure this would have been so perfect for things like animated npcs, events, and adventure mode. But they shouldn't have introduced it as a user customization option right out the gate when a huge amount of the userbase can't use it at the moment.

hello!! could i please request a full layout with a yume kawaii theme? also so sorry if this isn’t really specific enough! but thank you in advanced :D

I feel like ROTTMNT’s magic system hasn’t been explored nearly enough. Like, now that (most) world ending threats are gone, the turtles could totally learn more spells and explore more things they could possibly do with their ninpo and mystics. Since we know that future Mikey was “the greatest mystic warrior”, why aren’t potential future/additional abilities explored for all of them?

We see Mikey float, incinerate kraang monsters, open a portal through time, throw multiple large objects (including, but not limited to A FUCKING SKYSCRAPER) and he’s probably capable of much more with the proper training. I know that his kusari-fundo could catch on fire and that it had some sort of demon inside it, but it’d be sick if Mikey could just….spontaneously combust and become a flaming cannonball. Or just, become glow stick or some shit. Or even make other things float! Like imagine if the reason he could throw something as large as a skyscraper was because he literally made it lighter than air.

And like, we clearly see that Leo is able to teleport and make portals, but he’s also super fast? Even without powers he can move unnaturally fast (probably thanks to Draxxum) and even thinks quickly. Plus there’s that image of him at the end of the movie with the lighting which I desperately need more of because of course he has lighting! Also, there was a fic somewhere (a few actually now that I think about it) that talk about how actual teleportation is impossible but come up with brilliant solutions, for example: portaling through a pocket dimension to get somewhere else (Portal Pocket Dimension by DefinitelyaUseraname), or speeding up individual atoms in order to “disappear” and “reform” somewhere else (Neon Void by sugar pastels). Granted, one is a “safer” option regarding the fabric of reality but still.

Also, if the “Rise Medic Leo” headcanon fits the 2k12 thing where Leo has “healing hands”, I’m totally taking it and running.

Also, Raph and Donnie? I’m not quite sure what secondary skill Donnie might get but you can’t tell me that Raph doesn’t get some sort of illusion/size changing ability in the future. Like come on. He can literally make duplicates of himself that look exactly like him that can confuse the Shredder. And he can change the size of his full body construct too! If he can make a large version of himself, why can’t we get tiny Raph too? He could totally learn illusion spells or work with Donnie to figure out what the different types of constructs they can make. Maybe not Hypno illusions but something similar probably.

I was kinda thinking about giving Donnie some sort of x-ray vision or the ability to like- take a pencil and turn it into a rifle or something? But honestly, his aim is only second to April so maybe some sort of enhanced vision or even a tech-telepathy thing would be best? If the rest of the Hamato Clan had magic abilities like the turtles, what would they have? I just assume that the Hamato Clan always has the basic “turn x into weapon” and “Ninja Mind Meld” stuff, but it’d be cool if there were other abilities like healing that were specific to the clan member. Maybe these secondary abilities I’m thinking of (healing, speed, strength, etc.) are just that instead of a Yokai specific thing? Idk, magic systems are fun.

One of my rain world ocs. Some Place Warm belongs to the Winding Depths local group.

Background and Descriptions below

Personality: Empathetic, Self-Conscious, Optimistic, Naïve, Creative, Sweet, Warm, Emotional, Impulsive

Background: Some Place Warm was a construction unit repurposed into an iterator by the head house member of Unfathomable Depths, Veins of Gold. Due to a programming error in construction of a nearby iterator, SPW inherited the remaining parts, resulting in her superstructure being, roughly, twice the size of a normal iterator.

Yet, due to inheriting said error, her original body (the puppet) is not fully synced up to her superstructure. This causes her great pain when she utilizes over 20-25% of the threshold. While there is a solution to fully sync the two mechanical bodies, it would require a complete factory reset of her programming, which would cause her memories and personality to be wiped. Since the head of the household did not see this as mandatory (since SPW was still capable of doing her job and cooling her systems under her max threshold) she did not force her to undergo the procedure and left it as the iterator’s choice.

While she is programmed to solve the great problem just like other iterators, her priority is creating materials and repairing superstructures of neighboring local groups in the vicinity. However, after the destruction of Diamonds in the Sky and A Silent Orchestra, the transportation systems that linked her and other groups were destroyed and irreparable, making the task impossible.

With the eventual decline and lack of communication with her senior and other iterators—as well as many local wildlife dying due to climate change—SPW mentally breaks and decides to initiate the factory reset and have her puppet properly synced with her superstructure. With her memory wiped and her personality slightly altered, Some Place Warm continues to thrive into a new era no other iterator would be able to experience.

kinda sat on the update for a bit to get my feelings on it. big post, i'm sorry. i'm open to hear about what uses people have found for effects i'm not a fan of, though! i'd like to broaden my customization tastes, and i might be thinking too narrowly when it comes to uses they have.

Dragon Only

a few are really nice, and subtle enough that they won't deeply impact a dragon's appearance. foil, shimmerscale, and glitz are surprisingly neat, with glitz being on the more heavyhanded end but still makes for a fine alternative to the other two that would fit well on a few dragon concepts off the top of my head.

i'm not a fan of the void one as far as 'subtle' ones go; it looks too 'stock image' like for my tastes and feels like looking at one of those light projectors you'd buy for halloween. i'm sure someone has a use case for it. pastel pulse isn't great for me, either; its texture map is a grid of perfectly aligned circles of varying saturations, ending with some of them being warped and some swooshes with high contrast. the intensity of the pastel makes it really hard to see the effect, too, so it feels like another stock image situation. i suppose it'd make for an alright stained alternative if you needed to use the tertiary slot for something else, but it's so heavy on the pastel that it's hard to fill that role. maybe a smoother gradient could have made it an effective (ha ha) animated iri/shim. dearly departed is a super cool concept but the result is a little off. the foggy effect on the lower end of the image is neato, but it's miserable on dragons whose faces are low (mirrors, everlux male, female imp...), or are more top heavy so it doesn't show well. i'll probably get a copy anyway, and do have an idea of which dragon could use it. Apparel Only sheen absolutely could be used on almost anything. simple, effective, does what it needs to and doesn't overstay its welcome. it's personally the best of the bunch to me as an avid shiny-things lover (probably a crow). possessed possessions looks like it's best used on dragons with minimal apparel, since the effect heavily reduces the lineart visibility of each piece and can turn it into a big blob of purple slime. i wish it could be on select pieces instead of all of them, but it's one of those limitations we need to hope for a solution to. all the same, that big blob of purple slime is neat looking on some heavily dressed dragons if you coordinate the clothing right. also you need to imagine chicken/bird/snake/frog spirits. do it for your mental health. spooky chickens. All-Over:

sunrise, moonrise feels like it was their first attempt at something fitting the role of an animated skin, and it's so hyper niche due to the landscape part of the effect. a day/night cycle effect without the landscape probably would have had more use for a wider audience. it likely appeals to some of the folks who like landscape skins, though, and i live in fear of the ones who make it work really well. i can't tell if it's supposed to be an all-over one, though-- i can't see it affecting the apparel at all in its animations? (sidebar: living painting dragons seem like a neat idea that this effect can lean into) flutterby is really cute, though, and makes me excited to see what they do with the new system. i hope they can make effects similar to it most of all; gimme other little guys, or flowerfalls, or elemental effects like lightning, little meteor showers, or smouldering ash. floating books or NOTN living objects would be really cool! TL;DR: the idea needed more time to be polished, but i think it's an overall positive addition to the website. if they balance the kinds of effects they distribute (keeping in mind people who like subtler stuff as much as the grander ideas, as well as the spectrum between) and should they choose to expand their customization and layering systems in the near future, i can absolutely see this system being much more loved my the wider community and more users finding the benefits in it that suit their needs.

Intro to Our Plural Chaos and Queer Whimsy!

Friendly greetings to all beings of every shape, species, size, gender, sexuality, and expression!! The same friendly greetings to those who are formless, genderless, or lacking in species too!! All forms of existence and consciousness are welcome here. We’re a strange collective of wildly varied misfits. We’re here to log our findings as we work to understand the bizarre, otherworldly happenings in our cranium. Currently, more than half of our system is nonhuman in some way. The humans bouncing around in our headspace don’t feel particularly connected to humanity either. We all happily embrace Voidpunk!

Fluidity constitutes the heart and soul of our system. We are ever-shifting. Our structure can best be defined as consistently inconsistent. There are effectively four layers in our system, with each layer and each headmate/fragment within them having unique perspectives on everything around us, both within the headspace and outside of it. Freedom of personal expression is of the utmost importance to our entire system.

We have a profound fascination and love for space/the universe as a whole. As a result, our inner world and many of our headmates are based on space and various celestial bodies/formations. Formless voids, infinite abysses, and mind-boggling eldritch horrors mix together seamlessly with these more tame space themes.

We love cute and pretty things. We adore the macabre and the grotesque. We cherish skulls and body horror every bit as much as pastels, nature, and mushy adorable queerness. We’re a confusing, clashing kaleidoscope of everything anyone could possibly imagine and then some.

We’ve come a long way in listening to and understanding ourselves since discovering our plurality in 2018. As chaotic and strange as things get in our system, we’ve managed to form ourselves into a fun and loving family unit. We’ve put immense effort into learning how to work together with, accept, and love each other, to recognize that we’re all sharing this mind, soul, and vessel. We hope that at least some of what we’ve learned can help others feel validated and understood, or perhaps help them learn a bit more about themselves!

This time it's for a headmate who has the role of helping with addiction recovery (basically we're substance addicts who are going to have to significantly cut back on their use soon and are not looking forward to it and are hoping our next split can help us with that).

I'd like them to be either an anthro of some kind (i.e. like a fursona), an object head, and/or a void angel (just think like a "regular" Christian angel but from the Void/space instead of Heaven). I'd also like them to have some connection to aesthetics we like (you can mix and match from weirdcore, dreamcore, nostalgiacore, liminalcore, cozycore, lovecore, and angelcore) and/or science.

This would be somebody who is motivated by their love for the rest of the system and has better self-control/self-regulation than the rest of the system does. They have some kind of comforter/caretaker role as part of the addiction manager role.

Neopronouns and xenogenders are welcome! Maybe some kind of contradictory label like boygirl, gaybian, lesboy, etc. and/or aroace mspec gay?

tfa bulkhead x tfa prowl

Ohhh Bulkhead is over the moon when he finds out! He's been feeling sick lately, struggling with energon intake and being really lethargic and sore. He finally caves and goes to Ratchet and a single scan later reveals the shocking truth: a tiny little spark nestled close to his. Now, Bulkhead comes from waaay out in the commonwealth. He knows what sparklings are. He's seen old pictures but never actually met one himself.

And he is so excited. Runs out of the medbay--with Ratchet yelling behind him to, "Be careful, slag it! Don't overexert yourself!"--to find Prowl and tell him the good news. Dents his much smaller partner considerably with one of his huge full body best hugs: Prowl's pedes are dangling above the floor and he's being swung back and forth as Bulkhead eagerly tells him they're going to have a sparkling. A real sparkling, can he believe it?! There's a tiny baby bot growing inside him! He's all sunshine and rainbows and walking on cloud nine, he's so excited to be a carrier!

Prowl is really shocked cuz he didn't think such a thing was possible, but ultimately he's happy. He does everything he can to be supportive and help Bulkhead be comfortable, quietly going to Ratchet to discuss all the necessary action he should take as a sire. They're light years away from an actual hospital, and while he has complete faith in Ratchet's skills, a lot of things could go wrong. If the sparkling comes early and needs a NICU, if Bulkhead develops any kind of complication or deficiency, etc, etc. They even consider returning to Cybertron, just in case, but ultimately decide against it. Hospitals there aren't trained to care for newborns anyway, and Bulkhead really, really wants his newspark to experience the joys of earth.

He makes an entire nursery for the bitty, with plenty of help from Bumblebee and Sari, painting the walls with pastel cybertronian myths and star systems, making a mobile and cradle and little toys for them. Prowl pots several flowering plants to bring color and fresh air to the room, never mind the fact that they don't need oxygen 🤭 Ratchet's got some old parenting prep programs on his drives that he's glad to hand over, and Bulkhead watches them religiously.

He also gets hooked on cute human baby compilation videos, especially of them laughing and meeting family members for the first time. He can't wait to do all these things with his bitty! He can't wait to hear them laugh for the first time, can't wait for their first steps, can't wait for every single wonderful experience they're going to have and that he gets to witness. He's so in love with the little spark growing inside him, always holding both servos over his chassis and humming to them. He talks to them every night, telling them about all the great things he can't wait to show them. Prowl talks to them too, carefully draped over his belly and murmuring how proud and excited he is. He adores observing the cycles of life on earth, and now he's taking part in creating life from scratch? It's the greatest honor he's ever been given.

The bitty is born on a cold, frosty day in winter, when the skies are gray and the snow is falling in big cotton flakes outside. It's an uncomplicated emergence, thankfully, though Bulkhead spends several painful hours in labor pacing around the delivery room. Prowl is an absolute champion of a supporting sire, fetching warm towels and glasses of coolant left right and center, immediately there with hands to hold or with soothing words. Even Ratchet is impressed, most first time sires are a mess. Internally Prowl is a nervous wreck but he's doing everything in his power to be calm and supportive, and Bulkhead really appreciates it.

After nearly 9 hours, their precious little baby is born. An incredibly round, black-as-night little marshmallow, with their carrier's alt mode and a pair of sleepy blue optics peeking out of the void. Like one of those all-black kittens that just disappear on a dark rug. That's their bitty. Just the roundest softest little shadow. Bulkhead is sobbing, tears of joy streaming down his face when he holds them for the first time. He's never felt such an intense, choking sensation of love before, he didn't know it was possible to love something this much. It's pure euphoria and he feels like he's floating, spark singing in his chassis when he takes them in his arms and gets to look at them for the first time. He kisses their helm a dozen times, blubbering incoherently and welcoming them to the world. They're perfect, so, so perfect, and he's the happiest he's ever been. Prowl comes up beside the bed and his knees wobble before nearly giving out: it hits him all at once that he's a dad now and he almost collapses. He was composed throughout the entire birth but now that they're here? He's losing his cool. His mouth is hanging open and his optics are shining so bright you can see them behind his visor; he leans down to wrap shaking arms around both of them. The baby peeps in surprise and peers up at him in wonder, and he smiles so widely his face nearly breaks.

He greats them in a mystified, trembling voice, saying hello, hi there, I'm your sire, welcome to earth-

He has no idea what he's saying, he's running completely on autopilot, but one thing's for sure: this is the happiest he's ever been in a long, long time.

Intro

Spark is a name we voted on for online use. It is not reflective of any offline use and does not indicate any particular alter. This blog is more or less an experiment for us. It primarily serves to see if we enjoy interacting outside of our usual circles as openly DID and to watch how people see us. It is also, to a lesser extent, something we hope helps with the stigma of being open about severe/complex dissociative disorders while also not falling in line with the traditional “don’t ever switch, make sure to constantly insist the host is talked about so the other parts know they do not belong in this conversation” mindset. If that traditional mindset works for you, cool, go do that, hell, do that here if you’d like to interact, just don’t expect that from us.

The Alters

From the nervousness this experiment is bringing, we have decided to use pseudonyms for the entire system. This may change someday, it may not. Note: interests do overlap, we do not have one alter holding our entire love of cats, nor is there one alter for listening to music.

Elisa is a very speaks-her-mind type of person. She was discovered less than a year ago and amnesia barriers are still fairly high with her. Save data for Persona 3 exists under her switch profile, we were told by a friend that she enjoys playing Uno.

Davis seems to only front for art, he likes sketching and pastels, mostly of nature.

Max is one of the most active members. He really likes cats, wild and domestic, his favorites are servals and panthers (as in the genus panthera). He also enjoys looking up information on anything that interests him, especially cooking.

Clover is a mostly calm caretaker. She is very motherly and gentle, a bit formal in speech/text patterns, but is still excellent at upholding boundaries.

Taylor is mute, they suggested learning ASL in hopes it’ll feel more natural to them, but currently rely on gesturing and typing while we learn. Our friends have been very supportive of this and our room mate is learning ASL alongside us. They really enjoy pokémon and sonic games.

Ari likes coloring, drawing, connect-style puzzle games, and training our room mate’s cat.

Jamie is quiet, tends to shy away from the spotlight, and fae likely won’t be seen much here as a result.

Michael lives to listen to music, sing, and play rhythm games.

Mew is very bubbly and she’s probably on the toxic end of the positivity spectrum.

Samson can’t see out of his left eye, he sees little reason to interact with people or fellow parts. Because he doesn’t see a point to interact with people, he doesn’t front much.

Hilltop is very void of emotion, it exists to shut down anything and everything.

Myst is blunt and straightforward. She likes top-down dungeon crawlers and keeps mostly to herself.

Balto is, as of writing this post, a mystery. He has fronted once in front of my room mate and has promptly fucked off into oblivion.
