hi friends!

going through my ask box, it's come to my attention that i have a handful of doodles in notebooks asks which leads me to believe not all of my readers are adults.

That being said, I wanted to clarify that this blog is strictly for my 'Neon Void' AU-- I will try to keep it as SFW as possible (with the occasional swearing whoops) however, TNV deals with some heavy topics, as well as some graphic displays of violence. So please use discretion while reading or choosing to follow my blog.

I'll also be transparent that I am an adult. I understand that this may make a handful of people uncomfortable. Please feel free to block or not engage if you feel this way!

With the holiday season approaching I thought I would put out this quick gifting PSA:

Do not, under ANY* circumstances, give any of the women, mothers, or wives in your family appliances, household goods, or things for the family/kids.

It is rude, dismissive, and sexist.

Gifts for birthdays and holidays are supposed to be about the person receiving them: giving a woman one of the above gifts sends the message, intentional or otherwise, that you do not view them as a person beyond whatever role they have in the family (homemaker/wife/mother).

Objectively, this also applies to any man, fathers, or husbands, but honestly I have never seen that happen to them.

I've seen plenty of wives and mothers be given new can openers or toys for their kids, but I've never seen a husband or dad be gifted a diaper bag or toaster.

Additionally, if you are going to buy makeup or beauty supplies of any kind for the women in your lives, for the Love of All that is Good and Holy (and to save you time, effort, and stress) bring the item with you**. The lipstick she likes? Bring the one she has with you. Her favorite shampoo? Take a picture or bring the empty bottle with you; don't worry about looking weird for carrying around trash or half open items from home, employees see it all the time. Trust me.

(*The only exception is if she looks you Directly in the eye and Explicitly says 'I would like [specific appliance/child care item] for the holiday i.e. playpen or new washer)

(**it's just like going to the hardware store: if you need a specific size screw, fixture, filter, or whatever, it is so SO much easier to bring the item you're replacing or need with you. It means you don't have to try to remember or describe to a helpful employee what you need.)

Oh! And one final note before I leave you: if you have any artist or crafters or hobbyists in your life (knitting, crochet, embroidery, beadwork, painting, woodworking, etc) do not just buy them something related to their hobby. Unless it is someone very new to the hobby who is just learning the ropes, I guarantee they have specific brands or tools or such that they use or need or want. And because many arts, crafts, and hobby things can be a bit pricey, it is safer and more efficient all around to either ask them very specifically about anything they want or need, take them with you, or simply get them a gift card to the store they prefer.

hey I really enjoy your style and brush packs! I've bought a couple of the packs, and I wanted to ask if you have any tips for using your brushes/getting the most out of them? Like what sort of brushes would you say work best for coloring/shading/lineart - some are obvious (ex liner for lineart) but I struggle with picking ones to use and what works!

Hello, thank you very much for the support! Let me know which program you got 'em for and I could try to highlight some particular ones from there.

I like to try to use the lineart brushes both for sketching, lining and coloring, especially the brushes that are like "Thick Tone Pencil"(or similar) or have coloring changing features to them!

Also, this is a more general answer:

🔶 I usually use brushes named around the word "Shale" for lineart and I usually sketch and color with those too. If you use Procreate the Personal Shale from this free set is my most frequently used:

I try to treat it like a very springy, multipurpose brush pen.

I've first tried to make something similar for Photoshop here(and later on re-made the brushes for CSP and Procreate):

From the sets above I like to use the Dried Up Ink/Dry Ink brushes both for lineart and for painting. I draw over loose paint strokes with it to define shapes or to re-make what I painted over! Those sets also contain painting brushes such as Flat Varnish Oil/Painty, Textury, Triangly/Oil Brick which could work well if you want to go for a thick, mushy oil pastel/oil paint texture. For thin, precise sketching, I like to use the Concept Art Lad!

🔶 I also like sketching/lining/coloring/painting with the coloring changing tone brushes such as the ones from these sets:

When painting with color changing brushes, I like to color pick from what the brush randomly generated for me and build up on that!

The brush sets above have a brush called Wispy Sketching Brush which I use for bold and loose brush strokes! It's like a sable brush but covered in graphite(that also changes colors with each stroke).

🔶 There are also a lot of flat, tone brushes for shading in those sets too and a few more in here:

That one above contains a series of Blocky Marker brushes that I like to use for fairly much everything.

🔶 There's also this free PS brush pack which imports decently in Procreate and CSP that has a brush called Soggy Pencil. It behaves like a regular sharp pencil tip, but if you make it bigger, you can create dusty, blurry or out-of-focus effects:

[DESCR- After a long day, Kai and Lloyd cuddle.] Before you read this, just a quick PSA; THIS IS NOT GREENFLAME.

Kai gently rubbed Lloyd's back as he was wrapped in a blanket, pacifier in his mouth and his eyes half-closed. Lloyd had a rough day, he got hurt while training, he almost slipped during a mission, and he barely had two seconds to relax. It was around eight, nearly bedtime, yet he was sleepier than usual.

"Lloydy, are you doing alright?" Kai asked as he looked down at Lloyd. Lloyd nodded, his green eyes looking up at Kai, making a smile form on his face. Kai chuckled and continued to rub Lloyd's back, comforting him further. "Hey, do you wanna tell me how old you are, little guy?" Kai asked, waiting for Lloyd's response.

After a few moments, Lloyd tapped Kai once. "One year old? Aww, you're the littlest little guy in the whole world, aren't ya?" Kai kissed the top of Lloyd's head, earning a giggle from the blonde. Kai looked at the time; 8:43. He might as well get Lloyd ready for bed. He stood up and carried Lloyd to his room. He turned on a nightlight and then turned off the actual lights, then put Lloyd down on the bed.

Kai quickly found some pajamas for Lloyd; a pastel purple pair of pants and a matching green shirt. He helped Lloyd change, giving the little boy a kiss on his head. "Nice job, buddy. Do you want anything else before you go to sleep?" Kai asked. Lloyd thought for a moment, then grabbed his stuffed bat, which Lloyd had named Starlight. Lloyd then made grabby hands up at Kai, surprising the brunette.

"Me?" Kai asked, sitting next to Lloyd on the bed hesitantly. Lloyd wrapped his arms around Kai, his tired head resting on Kai's shoulder. Starlight was still being held, of course. "Ohh." Kai gave a quick nod to himself, then laid both him and Lloyd down on the bed. He pulled the blankets up over their shoulders, holding Lloyd close. "Goodnight, green bean." Kai whispered as Lloyd closed his eyes. "Sweet dreams."

PSA (Sorry that it's so long)

As everyone knows, today (at least in the time of me making this post) is May 5th, aka Greenie's bday. That being said, she recently had her purpose reworked to where she actually travels into decaying AUs and she would pollinate flowers and what not to restore the outdoor environments of these worlds at least. In some cases, where the damage is really bad, she'd temporarily have to root herself into the ground and go into her sentient greenhouse building form. That being said, her object head form and her puppet form still has butterfly wings. I decided that she's still based on a greenhouse as well, that being said, press keep reading so that I can get to the PSA.

In honor of Greenie existing for approximately one year, I have decided that starting today, I will hold a contest for her new design, just make sure to include the features about her that I mention below. And don't worry, you guys will have longer than a day, you'll have precisely a week at least, so like next Sunday. Her object head form will likely be the new pfp, so the winner of that would have their drawing of object head Greenie as the new pfp, and they'd be credited in the new pinned post, of course. The winner of building form Greenie would have their picture of that as the background, again, with credit. Also just to let you guys know, you don't HAVE to do a full body pic, just the neck and head, and if you want to, the chest works if you can't do the rest for her object head form. Now onto the features that I would like included:

~Object Head form~

-Her head is in the shape of a normal Home, but it is made of glass and wood, basically looking like a greenhouse material wise

-Which means, most of her body is windows, so her eyes wouldn't have windows over them, but they'd still be where normal Home's windows are if that makes sense

-Basically, reference the current pfp if you're stuck, but maybe make the reds, blues, and yellows more pastel looking

-As I said above, she has butterfly wings on her back, you may decide what butterfly the wings represent although if you are curious: in her original concept, she had pink glass wing butterfly wings

-She wears some sort of dress with vines on it, vines are also growing up her neck a little

-The goop on her body is clear colored, so like whiteish-gray or something idk how ya'll would do that but it forms her complete lower body, even the hands

~Building form~

-Basically, a bigger version of her head on the ground

-This form of her's is covered with a lot of vines usually

-No wings in building form, this form isn't able to move really

PSA to Spanish Learners: Learn About Intonation.

To the linguists, I am aware intonation is the incorrect term for what I'm about to say, but it is the most accessible term to non-linguists.

Please learn where you're supposed to put the emphasis on a word. If you don't understand what I mean, read the following sentence: "Where's the record maker... thingy? I need to record something."

Did you say the first 'record' the same way you said the second? Chances are, you probably said the first one as 'record' and the second one as 'record'. In English, if a word with more than one syllable can be said as both a noun and a verb, the stress will differ depending on which you're using it as.

Now that we know what we're talking about here...

Why should you learn about it?

1). Why not learn about intonation? Did you learn to roll your r? Did you learn to pronounce 'j' as 'kh'? If you want to learn a language, why would you draw the line here? If you use an English 'r' instead of a rolled one, you'll probably still be understood. However, if you use the wrong stress, that can cause legitimate problems.

2). It matters, like a lot. Where you put emphasis on a word can change what you're saying. There's small stuff like 'papa' (potato) and 'papá' (dad), which is easy to distinguish from context, but that's not always the case. For instance, let's say you're asked about who paid the bill on a date you just went on, and you say:

"Pago la cuenta"

If you put the stress on the first syllable, as is written, you'll have said 'I pay the bill'. If you put the stress on the second (so 'pagó') you'll instead have said that your date 'paid the bill'. Where you put emphasis on a word is important for the present tense forms and their past tense forms of a lot of verbs.

On top of that, it can help you predict some of the patterns of irregular verbs. You know that word 'dormir' that for some reason goes to 'duermo' but also has the form 'dormimos'? Well, that's just an intonation thing. In 'duermo', the emphasis is on the first syllable, so you change the letters. In 'dormimos' the emphasis isn't on that syllable, so it stays as 'o'. Try it out on some other verbs. If you don't know where the intonation would go then lucky for you...

3). It's so easy to learn. Here is everything you need to know about: a). If there is an accent on a letter, the stress goes on that syllable. Ignore all other rules, the stress will always go where there is an accent e.g. 'camión', 'teléfono' b). If the word ends in a vowel (a,e,i,o,u), n or s, put emphasis on the second to last syllable e.g. 'entonces', 'baloncesto', 'joven' c). Otherwise, put the emphasis on the last syllable. e.g. 'pastel', 'celular'.

That's it. That's literally it. That's all I want you to know. Remember it. Use it. It's good. It's useful. Please.

Let’s be real: Disney didn’t just buy Star Wars—they neutered it, slapped it with glitter, and handed the reins to writers who probably think the original trilogy is “problematic.” What used to be a testosterone-fueled space opera has devolved into a pastel-colored girl-brand where the Force is female, men are morons, and any trace of male empowerment has been sent to a galaxy far, far away.

And now, we have The Acolyte: a masterclass in how to make straight men everywhere vomit in their popcorn. Let’s talk about it.

1. Lesbian Space Witches: “We Don’t Need Men, Except to Kill Them”

So, The Acolyte introduces us to the concept of “lesbian space witches,” because apparently Star Wars wasn’t edgy enough. These witches spend their screen time practicing dark magic, wielding the Force, and reminding us that men are the root of all galactic problems.

Disney didn’t just go for girl power—they went for girl annihilation. It’s like they sat down and said, “What’s the quickest way to alienate the OG fanbase? Oh, I know! Lesbian witches in space!”

It’s not that lesbians in space can’t work—it’s that these characters feel like someone’s feminist revenge fantasy brought to life. And when you pair it with the next atrocity, you get a franchise so off-brand it makes Ewok adventures look like cinematic genius.

2. The Acolyte and the Jedi Love Triangle of WTF

Let’s not forget the main storyline: a girl falls in love with a dude who MURDERED her entire Jedi shift. Like, brutally. I’m talking lightsabers and limbs flying everywhere. And instead of vengeance, she decides, “Yeah, he’s kind of hot, though.”

Excuse me, what? Is this Star Wars or Twilight fan fiction? Who decided that the best way to tell a compelling Jedi story was with a romantic subplot pulled straight from the “toxic relationships are sexy” playbook? Oh, but wait, there’s more!

3. The Simp Jedi: Master Sol, King of the Weaklings

Master Sol deserves a whole section to himself. Here’s a guy who raised the main character like a daughter, only to be Force choked to death by her while he whispers, “It’s alright.”

IT’S ALRIGHT?! My guy WTF? She’s killing you, and your last words are basically, “You slay, bitch!”? This isn’t character depth; it’s a PSA for male submission. Master Sol’s entire existence is a Disney wet dream of what they think men should be: apologetic, weak, and ready to die for the sake of “female empowerment.”

4. Harvey Weinstein’s Ex-Assistant: The Icing on the Shit Cake
