the curse hasn't lifted, hasn't carried over, he is still the canary, no matter what he does.

but he's learning and getting out of the cage, and someday he'll finally be free from the coal mines and be able to breathe fresh air

I am officially back! I have been thinking about Off Script over the last few months and I truly do miss it, but as I have graduated and I am currently looking for a job, I must warn you that there will be a slow yet steady progress with the game. However, I have decided to edit the prologue since I have worked on the plot more in detail and I need to ensure that it follows things through. Additionally, since it's been over a year since I went on hiatus, I need to reacquaint myself with the IF set up as well as relearn everything I had learned about UI in order to code the game and make it aesthetically pleasant so unfortunately the prologue will likely take a while to be published.

Still, since I need to shake the cobwebs regarding the IF and the ROs/their personalities, I will be answering asks for the next couple of days for those who are interested! That is to say, my inbox is officially opened again.

been thinking about c!scott and his relationships with others lately throughout the life series

the flower husbands, they were never married. but scott still cares, he sill holds on tight to it all, he hasn't stopped caring. he never left the flower valley, but jimmy's forgotten it completely until scott brings it back up to him. scott did everything he could to keep jimmy safe, did everything for jimmy. his attempted deal in limited life, an attempt to see who jimmy held close to his heart, for just the slimmest chance that maybe, just maybe, jimmy still cared for him more.

mean gills… an odd and unlikely pairing, after scott and martyn were constantly at each other's throats in every series prior, yet they worked so well. yet scott, despite all the trust and care he had for martyn, was eventually stabbed in the back. he knew it was to happen anyway.

then there was impulse. and gem too, though despite how much she cared for both her scotts and was a great leader of the team… impulse hits a little different to me. the way he kept himself from harming scott, even though it would have helped with achieving his new task, unlike gem, who lept at scott once he was no longer giving them gifts.

joel is a peculiar one, and i don't think i have to speak much about him. always, always after scott no matter what, possibly aware of his ability to just survive, and unwilling to let him win again. or maybe just because he doesn't like c!scott. who knows. i, a scott viewer, don't.

there's pearl, of course. started off good, then in double life, things had just flipped. maybe it was from his experience with jimmy, getting close and then being distant in the next game, that when he found out it was either his closest ally from the previous game or his enemy, he went a bit cold. maybe he was expecting him and pearl to split and distance from each other, just like he and jimmy did. their relationship wasn't romantic but it was just as close of a relationship, just platonic. maybe he realises, as he stays friends with cleo in limited life, that it's not always going to go wrong, and as he tries to grapple with this, pearl retaliates with a slightly similar relationship to theirs from the season prior (double life). things seem to be lightening between them though, as more seasons pass.

it feels like sometimes, "outsiders" treat scott just a bit better than his old teammates did. he keeps giving and giving and giving and every now and then he takes, not enough to make up for what he gives away. allies, not the close allies/teammates but other teams who are simply allied with whatever team scott's a part of, support him a little more. compliment him. they give back and try not to harm him. so do scott's newer teams. (kind of.)

i don't know. maybe it's just me but this is just how i feel (looking from a character perspective) about them…

1. bubbles: (almost every smp) sausages puppy. follows him to every reincarnation and universe. is in charge of keeping balance throughout every timeline and multiverse. based off his irl dog

2. xornoth: (empires smp s1) the champion/reincarnation of the god exor. was sausages mentor and apparent boyfriend (toxic yaoi). taught sausage magic and corrupted him. was very evil

3. the blood sheep: (empires smp s1) used for magical sacrifices and came from a world unknown. unrelated to exor and xornoth but have evil capabilities. all hail blood sheep

4. joel: (empires smp s2) was sausages baby daddy. the god of thunder and lore

5. hermes: (empires smp s2) joel and sausages child and a demigod. able to manipulate time and weather. no specific age, somewhere from toddler to preteen. has no set gender (he/they pronouns mainly used)

6: pearl/santa perla: (empires smp s1 and 2, afterlife smp) s1 sausages best friend who died in his arms. became a saint represented by sunflowers. sausage was one of her angels in afterlife. s2 sausage devoted his life to her and created a religion worshipping her. they follow each other through every life protecting each other

7: the watchers: (bcg smp) sausage found a watcher sword and the fandom ran with it. he is not officially canon to evo/life series watchers (yet)

8: the fates: (sos smp/minecraft sos) controlled that specific universe and blocked out any lore related to other smps. specifically hated sausage because he constantly broke the rules of that world. frequently targeted him

9: nat and dem: (border smp) two gods fighting over the devotion of sausage. nat had a specific connection to spruce trees. dem attempted to kill nat (was unsuccessful). both speak to him through notes and give him gifts. each claim the other is evil. nat is short for nature, dem is short for something unspecified (probably demon)

10: sun god bdubs: (empires smp s2) god of the sun that sausage and gem worshipped. had a silly rivalry with santa perla since she was associated with the moon. the main worshipping was just making sure to always sleep at night

I like thinking about other's artstyles cause really that's them putting down how they view the world and how they view different concepts in pure image form, someone can replicate it sure someone can take inspiration from it yes but it's still how THEY personally see something. No two people are gonna draw the same thing in the same exact way even if it seems like they did

On the matter of ChoiceofGames. Back when I first went into hiatus, most IF writers had moved to itchio and I was wondering if that was still the case? And if so, does anyone have a list of resources on how to begin coding in itchio? I remember having them saved but I can't seem to find them.
