via NYPost: Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing to launch a “big f–king operation” across sanctuary cities — including Chicago and New York — immediately after President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, multiple sources told The Post.
Starting Jan. 21, multi-day “ground operations” will be launched across cities that have served as safe havens for migrants because the local authorities do not cooperate with the federal government when it comes to immigration issues, sources said.

mercy seems like a long shot here, so my prayer for inauguration day 2025: may they be incompetent. may they just be really bad at implementation. may their egos choke their effectiveness. may they drown themselves week by week with infighting and selfish posturing. may they be easily distracted. may the very governors and senators and agencies and religious leaders that the new administration expects to be friendly force endless stalemates to preserve their own power. may every delay turn into a three ring blame circus so chaotic that no one remembers what they were doing. may the good and necessary parts of government be too boring to draw attention and keep running quietly in the background. may the next four years be full of sound and fury and signify nothing.

reminders for today:
if you or someone you know might need it in the next few years, purchase plan b. the shelf life of plan b is 4 years, and we might not be able to access it as easily as we can now in the days ahead.
if you can, purchase books that project 2025 is looking to ban.
mass deportations are starting. if you see ice vehicles or agents, yell ice raid and la migra as loud as you can.
if someone asks who you voted for, keep your mouth shut. they’re fishing for traitors.
if anyone, anyone at all asks about your neighbors or their legal status in the us, you know nothing. don’t be the reason that their family is separated.
if anyone asks about your religion or lack thereof, keep it vague. this administration will look for any excuse to persecute you.
your friends are trans or queer? for the next four years they’re not. don’t expose anyone’s status as a trans or queer person to anyone else, even if you think you can trust them.
did someone you know get an abortion? no, they didn’t. it was a miscarriage if anyone asks.
in short, don’t be a snitch, and keep to yourself these next four years. we’ll make it through this even if it seems hopeless at times.
this is all i can think of at the moment, but i’ll be adding on to this as the day continues.
we can survive this. we’ve survived before, and we’ll survive again.

btw now is the best time to keep boycotting. the israeli economy has never been weaker. don't stop the protests or the demands for divestment. keep supporting organisations like the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Accountability Archive. ofc don't stop boosting and donating to Palestinians as Gaza is still uninhabitable.
enjoy this moment but the work has not ended

imagining that while rook is gone, about a week and a half or so in, there's one night where lucanis suddenly appears unannounced in illario's room in the way he has of doing that and which could scare anyone else to death on its own, but of all people in the world illario is the most inclined to only find it mildly annoying to look up from his bad boy Brooding and also facemask-equivalent beauty routine (can't be tragically denied even being doomed by the narrative if you ain't cute) to find his cousin -- now first talon of the crows at least in name -- suddenly staring at him intently and expressionlessly from a few meters away. and when illario (half-jokingly, half-seriously, all-yearningly because crows live bad) is like 'ah so is this finally it are you here to kill me' even with no vengeful purple glow in evidence lucanis just snorts scathingly to show all the seriousness with which he still takes that idea and illario has to wistfully be like 'no, I thought not. so to what do I owe the honour, then, first talon. I figured you'd be pretty busy out there by now'.
and lucanis doesn't say anything at all, just stands there silently for a while and then sits down in a corner of the room with his back against the wall and buries his face in his hands. you have to understand how crucial it is for my vision here that they Do Not talk about it. they never talk about it, not in that moment and not later. illario doesn't have the first idea what 'it' could even be, once he's asked 'is it -- caterina? did something happen to...' (feeling suddenly and absurdly as much like a little boy again as lucanis just had before covering his face) and gotten the slightest headshake in response, nothing else he tries to ask even gets a reaction.
everything is all fucked up and nothing is ever going to be like it used to and the fact that this is where lucanis thought to go about whatever has happened to make his eyes look like that is ludicrous on so many levels and in so many ways. but I do think illario eventually sighs and at least sits down on the floor next to him, leaving a bigger distance between them than he might have once both in self-defense and out of something like consideration. 'I'd ask if you'd like to talk about it, but of course I know you. you never do'. (even with everything else that has happened, illario still knows lucanis better than almost anyone in the world. few things could have convinced him that maybe it really is his cousin in there still quite like this prolonged and complete lack of communication lol.) in the silence they fail to keep each other company in the same way they have for years, but maybe they can at least be honest about it now.
and then when lucanis gets to his feet like this entire very strange silent last half hour never happened to brush dust from his clothes and say he has to go... what can illario really do but go 'sure. great talk, as always. happy to be of service' from the floor as he watches his cousin disappear again into the night. I imagine illario wearing some sort of opulent bath robe or something through this whole thing by the way I think that's an important detail to get in there

The memes are funny but tbh I can’t bring myself to find actual humor in this considering it’s actually so sad when you consider the fact that this was just like?? So fast?? Like do people realize how fast it is to find the guy in one week (assuming Mangione is even the right guy). Like that’s fast. Like that’s proof that the “justice system” can be fast - but only where white multimillionaire CEOs are concerned

Luigi Mangione was just charged with first degree murder and terrorism. While I have nothing to input in the conversation of him being charged with murder because he did kill a man, I honestly and wholely believe that him being charged of "terrorism" is an overstretch.
While there is no scientific and legal definition of terrorism, according to the United Nations Commission of Criminal Justice and under the pioneering of Alex P. Schmidt, in 1992, terrorism was defined as "war crimes" under the human consensus.
I would have understood if Luigi was urging other people and telling them they're obliged to do what he did, yet he didn't. It would be terrorism if he put out a statement for the public to execute other CEOs. It's not his fault if other people also wish to do what he did and that they sympathize with his actions so much because they were also wronged by the healthcare system. There is no message telling people to mimic him because the killing of the CEO is the statement within itself. It's powerful enough to send ripples of support throughout the masses and simply goes to show how wretched the system is—that it sometimes even forcibly pushes people to the brink of committing such unreconcilable acts.
Comparing Luigi's actions to the severity of actual terrorism is abysmal. I can use all synonyms in the book to list down how "crazy" it is and still end up not describing how thoroughly fucking absurd it is. It just comes to show how severe his sentencing is and that the people in power do not want him to see the light of day. A perfectly painted picture on how the healthcare system is heavily tied to the government, which illustrates what people in power do—do all it takes to stay in power. This has been going on, time and time on, and it's tragic.
My theory is that they gave him such a sentence because they believe the people will turn on the government and terrorize THEM. The people HAVE been doing this, ever since the dawn of time. These lunatics need to understand that the people have always been awake. The people aren't just gaining consciousness now because it's the contemporary era; there are revolutions occurring everyday on every crevice of the planet. It's just that these people who are "woke" are getting killed off, executed, and locked up for the best interests of the same government who have angered them. Now, when they have rightfully thought of fighting back, the government fears them and guise it under the label of terrorism to "protect" the innocent. How dystopian.
