I think the best part of finishing Burrow's End is the moment about six or so hours later, where you're chilling in the shower or in the middle of dinner, and you suddenly realize that the tape—you know, that tape—wasn't all five of the Firsts dog-piling and murdering Dr. Winnebago, but literally just Phoebe. And just that one stoat was enough to cause the carnage the kids found in the store room and turn the doctor into a Meat Dave when she didn't even know how to speak human yet.

woah!! new guys for the superhero au?? meet our other two heroes!
dianne zelenov, more commonly known as miss morph, shapeshifter extraordinaire, is a much more well-established hero, having been in the business for years at this point. she prides her identity as a hero, embracing the celebrity that comes with it...and perhaps the most annoying part about it is that it's deserved. she's fought the syndicate multiple times over, and tends to dismiss and treat solarflare as a naive upstart. sol's idealism clashes a lot with morph's more tactical (and maybeee just a bit arrogant) approach to fighting crime, so they nearly always butt heads when they team up, and have formed a bit of a rivalry as a result. though, deep down, morph really does respect sol, and is secretly grateful that sol's there to counter and challenge her worldview: one that's largely become cynical due to all the years in the hero business. NOT that she'd ever admit it.
and you can't possibly mention morph without mentioning felix murphy, her, uh...sidekick? assistant? weird roommate? no one's really sure what to call him, but he's an old friend of morph's who provides help from behind the scenes with his handy-dandy D.R.E.A.M. console. he can provide intel by hacking into syndicate files, keep track of info received from morph's previous battles, contact other heroes if things get dicey for morph solo, and also provide completely unnecessary live commentary via holo-screen while morph fights crime. and, sure, maybe with his tech prowess he could go out and fight himself, but also, are you crazy? he doesn't have any powers! it's way safer for him to provide from the sidelines. he's been doing so for years...and especially so ever since the syndicate popped back up three years ago. with solarflare and kuiper on the scene now, too, will our heroes finally have the upper hand? and what would that even mean for them?
next up...who exactly are the supervillains in this infamous syndicate, and why have they come back after supposed defeat? only time will tell...
(check out context for joy, sadness, and anxiety in this au here!)

Guess im sticking with TotK a bit longer now and uh.
I don't think I was supposed to brute force the Thunderhead Isles, was I?
Like, was there something I was supposed to do to let me see more than 5 inches in front of my face? I mean, i got through it with the medallion portals and good old fashion launching myself blindly through the air but like. I looked up a few screenshots today and that doesn't seem to be what's supposed to happen? I was having to use Riju's thunder dome to highlight the environment avoid walking off cliffs. Fighting the robo miniboss was impossible because anything above its kneecaps was out of my vision! I only managed it through bullheadedness and the shrine radar. Couldn't even find the western end shrine! I was on that isle for like 20 minutes but god is it hard to find an entrance to anything when I cant SEE! Fighting 3 Like-Likes in a flooded room where I have to be able to hug them to see them at all! In the end I just launched myself off the piston on top of that isle until I caught a ping from the other shrine up there because I was convinced there'd be something near the eye of the swirly thing on the map!
10/10 Link Simulator. All the courage, not a single drop of wisdom! Whatever the hell you're supposed to do to make that area playable I'm glad I didn't do it.

So I'm replaying Ray's After ending rn, and it got me thinking that what I adore so much about Rika as an antagonist is just how damn scary she can be. I always found those who cause harm with good intentions (at least in their point of view) much scarier than those who hurt you with pure intention on hurting you. I think the best example of it is this CG in particular:
Look at that. Such a loving, gentle expression on her face. Probably kissing his forehead. Because she loves him. Heck, without any context, this CG looks even sweet, if you think about it. And yet, all that is while Saeyoung is forcefully sedated on a powerful concoction of drugs even a trained agent like him can't do anything about (and Saeyoung WAS definitely trained to deal with this sort of thing, hence it's mentioned that this is a 'special' kind of drugs). He looks miserable. Bags under his eyes, his expression pained and troubled, even his hair is paler than usual. All that as a direct result of her actions. But she's utterly blind to it. What's scarier, is that she knowingly shuts off her understanding of what's really happening. She's not oblivious to it at all. She just chooses not to see it that way. Simply because she doesn't want to.
Rika is the type of antagonist that will cup your cheek into her warm hand with the most loving of smiles on her face, all while you are getting elixir poured down your throat. Even whispering to you that you're doing great, that the pain will soon pass, and that she can't wait to see you reach the happiness she knows you deserve. I won't be surprised if she even cried genuine tears of compassion during some ceremonies for her believers. All while being the sole reason behind their suffering.
And that's... God, that's terrifying to me. I love that about her.
Rika Kim, they could never make me hate you

"evan, i find you adorable". adorable as in able to be adored. as in capable of being adored. as in i find you worthy of adoration. adorable, from the latin adorare (to worship) to adorabilis (in the sense 'worthy of divine worship') to the current day adorable. as in maybe if we had made it to the movies or if eddie didn't show up, i could've showed you just how much i want to worship you. as in i look at you and there is a font of adoration in my heart for you. adorable as in i flew into a hurricane with you and yet this date is a thousand times more thrilling than that. adorable as in there is a person in your building who saw me jump up and down like a little kid in the lobby after i had kissed you for the first time. adorable as in i kissed you and immediately thought fuck i could do this forever if he lets me. adorable as in i want to press kisses to your birthmark. adorable as in i spent the entirety of the days leading up to our date wondering about you, if you liked your coffee with two sugars or one. if you liked storms or if the lightning strike had put you off on them all together. if you liked cats or dogs or if you were the kind of weirdo who liked goats instead. if you thought about the kiss as often as i did. if your stomach tangled into twisted knots as saturday drew closer. if you would be agreeable to sitting in my lap. if you would blush as prettily as you did the day i kissed you. if your world also realigned when our lips met. if our orbits had matched up now that we flew into a hurricane together. if the gravitational pull between us had finally been too strong for either of us to resist that night in your loft. or maybe, more simply, adorable as in, "evan, i find you adorable."

The fam @ dick out of work hours: bullying, ribbing, "he's just a sopping wet loser", he fumbles every charisma check because he loves his baby birds and bats so very much and they walk all over him
The fam @ dick during work hours: afraid. So afraid. Don't let him find out if you got shot because you might unleash a beast into Gotham worse than most villains. Give your reports and don't show fear. Follow instructions and don't let him down or else Disappoint Gotham's Best Man.
