not to be buck wild but:
astarion x LG!paladin!Tav scenario. (cw: spanking, mild brat taming. minors dni)
he’s tired with how damned good you are, how nice and always trying to do the right thing, and yes maybe he seduced you into bed a little while ago and it was amazing and afterwards you held him and looked into his eyes and stroked his face and he felt more seen and protected than he had in two hundred years but —
but—!
you’re so… bloody… ugh. you’re so you. and if he looks at himself in your light for too long he begins to realise how small he is. how pathetic.
how could someone like you really feel anything for someone like him?
so one night he goes to do a bit of light pilfering at the emerald grove. it’s not too far and he can sneak in over the walls, they’re not that well protected after all, and picks the things he thinks nobody will miss. a few gold here, a necklace there, a couple of potions—
and he thinks he’s gotten away with it until he comes back and finds you waiting in his tent.
you look softer without all that armour on, but no less broad. he can see the way your muscles glint in the low candle light. it makes him salivate, and not just for the blood he can taste from here that’s thrumming through you.
you ask him where he’s been, and he tells a lie (of course he does). you see right through it though. he finds himself obeying when you tell him to empty his pockets. the look of disappointment on your face is worse than any anger. he starts to defend himself, asking what you expected of him, he prides himself on sneakery, and —
you interrupt him by telling him to “come here”.
he obeys. he can feel himself getting hard. he’s so humiliated by it, but he knows the first time you touch him he’ll be gone.
slowly you pull him into your lap, then over your knee. his cock stirs in curiosity as you put your hand on his arse cheek, telling him clearly he’s going to have to learn with a slightly firmer touch. if he’s going to be a brat he’ll be treated like one.
you look into his eyes for consent. even now, you care. care about him.
he nods.
the first smack steals the breath from his lungs - breath not needed but inhaled when he saw you in his tent. his cock goes from half-mast to full.
the second has him mewling, rutting against your thigh. you move it just far enough to stop him and he realises he has become desperate embarrassingly quickly.
by the third he’s moaning, arse smarting but each little sting dancing through his body like lightning. he begins to leak in his britches, impossibly aroused just from this.
you keep going until he’s a blubbering mess across your lap. all he can do is lie there as his head empties, desiring only your touch.
eventually you ask him if he wants to cum. he begs, fucking begs, but he’s too blissed out to care how needy he’s become - as your hand snakes round to cup him it only takes a couple of strokes over his trousers until he’s releasing in them, cumming in his pants like a teenager.
you stay there for a moment, still, until eventually he feels you using your Lay on Hands to heal the ache in his cheeks. he grumbles - he would have been happy to carry about the smarting feeling - but then you sit him up and check he’s alright. touch his face and mutter how good he is, asking if he’s seriously hurt.
he thinks once again: even now, you care.
he’s never had that before.
the next day you make him return everything he stole. he can’t look at your thighs without wanting to be laid out over them again.

Opinions of KH2 novels that happen that are funny/interesting
I saw a lot of sections recently
Riku Axel & Namine are a trio
Their interactions are nice
It's something I didn't know I needed
I love seeing them do stuff in the background while Sora does basic (game moments), instead of focusing what happens in the games during Disney worlds, it shows them
Axel being a grey character
He doesn't know himself if he's bad or good
But some of the others noticed it and gladly call him their friend.
Also when Goofy "dies" he helps him to see if he's alright and even gives him a potion
Instead of initially kidnapping Kairi, he does so with good interest in mind, thinking she's in danger because the organization is after her— Riku and Naminé were going to her but got caught up in a battle with Saïx.
Then Saïx fought Axel and won, obtaining Kairi.
Also Naminé helps heal Axel after he lost to Saïx.
I love his banner with Riku
At one point Mickey is like, I'm glad you're not alone Riku, Riku responds, He's my friend, but then Axel says, Nobodies don't have friends, it's not exactly word for word, but similar.
Axel comments to Riku
Riku eating ice cream and Axel is like is it good, You're like a little kid even though you look like a mean old man. Then Axel steals his ice cream and Riku like bruh really dude there is plenty of ice cream in there.
After Land of Dragons, Axel tells Riku, Seeing Sora made you that happy, and Riku is like I don't feel like telling you. Then afterwards he's like it's creepy how you smile with Ansem's face.
Mickey and Goofy can smell
So Pluto is in the novel sometimes around Axel and of course Kairi. When Mickey first sees Axel after Riku leaves, he sniffs him and is like oh it's you I thought it was Riku but you smell like Pluto.
Then later when Axel helps Goofy after his "death" he is like you smell like Pluto and at this point Axel is like AGAIN!?!?
Maleficent and Riku
Honestly I find this kinda charming and kinda nice.
At one point she calls Pete useless and how Riku was so much helpful and even got him what he was trying to do and gave him Kairi. She then admits that she was using him, but it made her kinda sad or a "thorn in her heart" that he left her without hesitation.
Then at one point Riku goes to see Maleficent and Maleficent is like oh you're alive and he says I see you came back from the dead. And it's great exchange.
He wanted to see if she'd fight the nobodies/ organization 13. But when he goes to her he wonders if he is betraying Mickey by doing that and he thinks it's all for Sora.
Riku opinion of DiZ request
So DiZ got Riku to do some things... that isn't great and afterwards he wonders if that was right.
After seeing how DiZ treated Naminé and views nobodies he is like Should I have fought Roxas? He was thinking Should I have destroyed him for him to go back to Sora? What if there was another way so he could still be here?
And I wanted to point it out that he obviously questions whether it was right and he was just following DiZ because he wanted Sora back and thought it was the ONLY way and much would have rather Roxas to stay as a person too.
DiZ offers Naminé ice cream
At one point Naminé goes back to the mansion in the middle of KH2 and she finds DiZ which she is surprised by. DiZ was harsh and mean to her at the beginning of the game and is weary of him,
But this dude straight up offers her sea salt ice cream like he didn't want her destroyed or want Riku to get rid of her (which Riku was like NAHHH I won't because he saw them as people and Sora was waking up). And then he says there are plenty more, you can share with friends 😀😁 LIKE COMPLETE SWAP
Saïx fight Riku and Naminé
First when Riku and Naminé is fighting Saïx while Axel gets Kairi, Saïx slaps Naminé and causes her to fly back.
Then he is like oh you're trying to protect your home from darkness (assuming he might corrupt it or by getting Kairi) and then he's like but you did that once before. LIKE 😭😭😭 THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR
And then he tells Riku he sold his Soul for Power. JUST wow, great character but man is he cold sometimes.
I never want Saïx to touch Naminé again though... Saïx over here hurting Axel and Naminé.
Donald and Goofy no longer tease about Kairi
So... In KH2 there are moments where Donald and Goofy tease Sora about Kairi with possible romantic implications
(though I'm not exactly sure since that is the English version which could have some transaction errors and there's a lot of added romantic moments because of English version)
In Halloween town, Sora also imagines himself dancing with Kairi when Jack and Sally dance, but in the novels none of these things happen. Donald and Goofy don't tease him about Kairi.
Shang and Mulan = Sora and Riku
So in land of the dragons when Sora sees Mulan and Shang he tears up and thinks of himself and Riku cause he missed him.
This does happen in the game, but it's more explicit here that he missed him and thinks of Riku and himself when he sees Shang and Mulan.
Sora always wanted to fight by Riku's side
In the novels throughout the ending battle Sora is so excited and is just glad to fight by Riku's side and he had always wanted to have him as an ally.
He states how he always hoped and dreamed he'd be able to.
He feels so excited and just glad to be able to do so.
Also want to point out that they feel better together and they're okay in the dark realm because they have the other
Sora doesn't care as long as Riku is okay
At one point Sora says, so what if he's in organization 13, it's fine.
Donald is like it's not they're a bad group of people.
This just shows how much he cares about him.
Axel pretends to betray Riku and Naminé to help Kairi
He told them he was going to and would give them their location and reassures them that he doubt Xemnas would come over.
And Xemnas ends up being the one going over....
#kingdom hearts#riku#sora#soriku#axel#Saïx#namine#ghost trio#axel namine and riku#kingdom Hearts 2#kh2#kh2 novel#Love Riku interaction with Maleficent#too bad dark riku and Maleficent didn't interact more in kh3#Saïx please don't slap Naminé#Naminé has more going on in the novel than Kairi 😭😭😭#If Sora ain't gay then why he picturing him and his BEST FRIEND when he sees Shang and Mulan — a couple#The added content eith Axel Naminé and Riku is so great#I love it#Goofy and Mickey smelling Pluto like Riku smells darkness 😭😭 😂#sea salt ice cream

A Game Novice's Baldur's Gate Log, 148 Hours In: Two fights I ultimately couldn't avoid, and also two more
Masterpost
(Note: this will definitely contain spoilers for all I've played through, and probably quite of a bit of the later stuff I've also seen.)
I have been very aware this week that not everyone who plays through this game is in much of a hurry to rescue whichever of their companions ends up needing it. And that's very understandable. There was more than one moment during the week that I thought maybe I really should've gotten the party up to level 12 first.
But sometimes when you create a character, she will inevitably take the story over. Sara had now been in agony for days over not going immediately. She wanted Lae'zel back, and she wanted the cultists that were killing her neighbors in the park at least mostly dead, and it just felt impossibly wrong to delay her doing it much longer.
It also felt kind of wrong, honestly, when she initially tried not to fight Sarevok, given that a century ago, she was one of the ordinary inhabitants of the city he terrorized. But she needed to get the location of the Bhaal temple out of him. During my first go at that scene, she more or less let Minsc provoke a fight, I discovered just how hard he was to hit while dealing too much damage, and I ended up exiting without saving and deciding I'd do that scene with Karlach instead.
But really, I should've known it wasn't going to be as easy as that. That even if her companions allowed Sara to claim herself as wanting in and having killed the people whose hands we'd looted off Dolor, she was never going to pass the deception check necessary to convince him. So I found myself with that fighting happening for the second time, wondering if I'd just made it worse for myself with two barbarians who were both struggling to hit Sarevok.
But once it became clear that damaging Sarevok wasn't going to be easy for my casters either, I decided to once again try a little more spell variety, and had Shadowheart break out the bless for the first time. It was the perfect situation to do it, too, since he seemed oddly fixated on killing Sara and didn't attack the others, so with his minions downed quickly enough concentration wasn't a problem. He still wasn't the easiest thing to hit, but we did it enough to win.
Even more to my relief, he had the map to the temple on him. Except then I very quickly realized it was pointing us straight to the scary fight with the delayed Power Word Kill I'd reloaded out of earlier. Still, having had time to think about said fight, I found myself coming up with about 12% of a plan for it, and thought it might now be doable. After a long rest.
So, after a meeting with Dammon, which was nice but a little sad because he still couldn't fix Karlach, I decided to honor Minsc's request to deal with the Zhentarim he'd set on the Guildhall. With him rotated back in, we went there, listened to Roah Moonglow's spiel, and since Sara didn't really like either side she left the decision of what to do to Minsc. When he declared he was siding with the Guild for this one, we duly fought her and her allies with the Guild's help, which was probably worth it just for being able to loot a whopping 10,000 gold off of her afterwards. Money for more arrows, healing potions, and other useful things may not be a problem for a little while.
Of course, then I had to keep Minsc from then going after Nine-Fingers Keene, too, since we were by now in no shape to fight everyone left in the Guildhall. Fortunately I just made that check, Minsc confused everyone, himself very much included, by even speaking about working with her in the future, and we got out of there with no further harm save his having an existential crisis.
We went back to the tavern after that. Sara did her best to talk Minsc through said crisis, though she certainly isn't the best person for that. Since my plan for dealing with the Farslayer included Astarion, I had him feed off her that night. I took him, Minsc and Shadowheart to just before where the fight would trigger. I ended up pausing there, and spent the next day writing a little piece featuring Sara and Gale that took place on that night before.
My plan was to speed Astarion to wherever the Farslayer was located, and use either his sussar dagger or one of his arrows of arcane interference to break the Power Word Kill. And on all of my attempts at that fight that lasted long enough, this plan actually worked. But I hadn't quite realized just how many minions he had on hand, and just how much damage they could do while not being in the best locations for hitting.
After my second attempt failed, I swapped out Shadowheart and Minsc for the druids and their AOE spells. Which resulted in another rant about the city from Halsin; Sara might actually be losing her patience with him over that. I also decided to first go back up to the streets and see if I could buy more elixirs of fire resistance, since I couldn't even find the one I knew we had. (Much later, I eventually spotted in Jaheira's inventory.) I couldn't find any, but we went back to Jaheira's family's house, since I now knew how to get to her underground hideout, got her things, equipped Halsin with the staff, and even bought him some new armor and a couple more healing potions before returning to the Undercity.
The AOE spells actually didn't help as much as I had hoped. But I did, at long last, figure out how to make good use of their wildshapes. That cave bear really can do a crazy amount of damage, and I got Jaheira across the bridge alive largely because she was being an invisible panther. Though by the time the whole party was across, we were all in bad enough shape that with one of the ladders up where the Farslayer had been and the invisible minions still were destroyed, I took everyone under the structure just to give them cover. When the Farslayer was also hiding there, it was ultimately quick work to kill him.
At which point everyone else poofed, and the fight was suddenly over. Rather disoriented, and thinking they might still be hiding nearby, I short rested, had Halsin heal Jaheira further before swapping him out and Shadowheart back in, and then went looking for either Orin or more trouble. I crept through the adjoining building continually expecting to run into more trouble, and didn't. I did the same to the environs outside the temple entrance, when I found them. Then, when I discovered I couldn't lockpick through that door, I went around again to see if there was another way in. Finding nothing, I looked it up, and read about needing an amulet. Fortunately we'd looted it off Sarevok.
I had also read beforehand that there would be a difficult check to keep Lae'zel alive, but we could avoid it by provoking a fight before the cut scene played. I got us to partly down the stairs, and then was left to decide who would shoot at Orin first. There, my shipper heart ended up prevailing, and indeed, all four times I provoked the fight, I did so by Shadowheart throwing a guiding bolt at her. It actually hit on the last successful attempt, too.
The first two attempts went south pretty quickly, as on realizing I really had to stop the sculpture from restoring Orin, I made an attempt each time to destroy it, both of which came to nothing. Ultimately I would have to look that up, and read a suggestion from someone to thunderwave all the sancturied cultists off the platform to shut it down. I tried this on my third attempt, but didn't take that many out before I had two people down and was looking very bad, and so reloaded again.
I then decided to see if I could get the party closer, to at least give Shadowheart a better chance to hit at the start. I got too close, and triggered the cut scene. I actually tried to get Sara to intimidate Orin not to kill Lae'zel immediately, a check it wasn't impossible for her to make. But when I rolled at 8 on it, I reloaded without even waiting for the guidance die to roll. It was only an hour later I remembered the existence of inspiration. If I had in the moment, I might have tried using it.
But by the time I remembered, I'd won the fight anyway. It wasn't easy to keep Jaheira up long enough to knock everyone off, though Astarion at one point used the two thunderwaves he had available to take two minions out of the fight. Once the sculpture stopped restoring Orin, it was a simpler matter all of us just hitting her until she croaked. Sara actually went down literally right before Astarion was able to run over and deliver the final blow, which was definitely the kind of dramatic moment that would've done quite well in an action movie.
Fortunately Jaheira then quickly got Sara up before either of the remaining two skeletons could kill her, and we killed them quickly enough. I left off last night having just gathered Orin's netherstone and short rested. I haven't even woken Lae'zel up yet. There will definitely be more fic about that next week.

If you’re still looking for fic requests, how about Han Yoojin’s experience with his leg? How becoming newly disabled for the first time and having people look down on him not only because of his F class status, but also because he physically can’t work for that long before needing a break. His struggles to do simple things like walk to the bathroom, or running.
Then there’s the little things he does after regression because even with his leg healed he still operates with that mental pain. Leaning on things he’s next to, being amazed every time he runs after Peace, or a little sigh of relief every time he’s allowed to sit down.
(Sorry for being long winded, it’s just I always feel like canon could go more into Yoojin’s disability and how it affected him, because he had it for years and it definitely shaped how he currently interacts with the world.)
Yoojin sits in his hospital bed and thinks about his options for a long, long time.
See, this wouldn’t normally be an issue. Yoojin is very careful about budgeting his money: he makes sure to look up any existing information on the dungeons he’s planning on going into, he estimates how much he needs for the week or month or however long he’ll need to last until his next dungeon, he makes concessions for any armor or weapons that he’ll need to buy, he adds in whatever recovery items he’ll need afterwards, and he ensures that he meets that threshold while he’s in the dungeon.
And yet, here he is sitting on a hospital bed for the second time in as many months, almost too woozy from pain to properly sort through what his choices are now.
After all, no one pays a hunter that goes down at the beginning of a dungeon.
“Han Yoojin-nim,” a nurse greets, rapping politely on the door. After checking his IV and vitals, she nods to herself. “Your recovery is going as expected,” she says with a smile. Yoojin can’t bring himself to return it. “We usually try to operate as soon as possible, but it says on your records that you’re a hunter.”
“Yes.”
“We generally encourage hunters to purchase healing potions. They heal much more completely than conventional medicine now.”
Yoojin grits his teeth. He knows. “That’s… not an option for me right now,” he admits reluctantly. He bought a new weapon for this dungeon—he’s out of extra funds for at least a month or two.
There’s a downwards twist to her lips as she continues looking down at his file, one that tells Yoojin that she understands the situation that he’s in right now. “Surgery is the only other option then.”
It’s the answer that he expected, the conclusion that he’d come to a few moments before she’d walked into the room, but it’s still not what he wants to hear. “Fine,” he says, staring up at the ceiling. Surgery will be cheaper than a healing potion, even if the recovery period afterwards is much longer. He doesn’t have the money to support himself while he’s recovering. He’ll probably barely have enough to cover the surgery itself.
Fuck.
The nurse nods once perfunctorily. “We’ll schedule you for the surgery right away then. Have you already been briefed on all of the operations that we’ll need to do?”
“Yes.” And hadn’t that been a fun packet to read through. A comminuted break in his lower leg and a broken kneecap. Recovery might take anywhere from a few months to a year. Just his luck.
“If you need anything, you can always hit the call button.” She points to the remote on the bed next to his arm.
“Thank you,” he says, mostly too tired to be any ruder, and watches her shadow leave the room.
After another moment, he slowly reaches up and balls his fists into his eyes, needing the pressure to keep him grounded. Fuck. Fuck.
Someone had left his cellphone on the bedside table, and he can feel its presence mocking him even with his eyes closed and hunched over on the hospital bed. He knows it’s there, and he knows what he has to do. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t even entertain it as a possibility, but he’s genuinely not sure what he’s going to do once he’s out of the hospital.
Oh god, what is he going to do?
After his breathing calms down to a more reasonable tempo, he leaves one hand knuckling his eye ridge and uses the other to fumble for his phone. His thumb pauses over a contact that he hasn’t used in a long, long time.
He taps the contact.
The line rings for much longer than he expects it to. Not that that’s surprising anymore. The line connects. “Hyung, I told you to stop contacting me.”
Ah, the voice that he’s so missed hearing.
“Yoohyun,” he says. He wonders what he must sound like to Yoohyun. He wonders if Yoohyun can even hear the nuance in it anymore. “I need your help.”
The pause that comes is painfully long. Yoojin works on unraveling the hem of his hospital-issued blanket. “What happened?”
Yoojin takes a deep breath. “I was in a dungeon—”
“Didn’t I tell you to stop going into dungeons?” Yoohyun interrupts sharply.
Yoojin glares at the opposite wall. If Yoohyun just listened— “Regardless of whether you did, it’s not any of your business anymore.”
“Doesn’t it become my business when you call me to ask for help?”
This was a mistake. “Never mind,” Yoojin bites out, resigning himself to finding some other avenue of procuring money. He can try taking out a loan at the bank. If nothing else, he’s sure that there are people out there willing to lend to someone dripping with the sheer amount of desperation that Yoojin is.
He hangs up without waiting for any other acknowledgement from Yoohyun and ignores the one attempt at a call back afterwards.
-
Seok Simyeong unfortunately finds him a few hours after his operation. “Han Yoojin-ssi,” he says, like the name leaves a bad taste in his mouth.
Yoojin huffs as much of a laugh as he’s able to. The painkillers make him feel much better, but he’s also so tired. “Seok Simyeong-ssi,” he greets. It’s perhaps the most polite he’s ever been to the man, and it shows in Seok Simyeong’s expression. “Why are you here?”
“The guild leader told me that you called him recently,” he says, still lingering unpleasantly at the entrance of Yoojin’s room. Yoojin hopes that he gets chastised by a nurse for doing so. “I came to find out what you wanted.” And make sure you don’t bother him again goes unsaid.
Yoojin wheezes out another laugh and turns his head towards the window. Maybe if Seok Simyeong had showed up a day or even a few hours ago… Well, there’s no use in dwelling on ‘what if’s. “My surgery went smoothly,” he says, raising an arm as if to say ‘you see?’ “If Yoohyunnie wants to give me a few hundred for the next few months so I can eat, that would be good.” He’s not even being sarcastic. “Maybe throw in another hundred for delivery fees.”
Seok Simyeong presses his lips together like he’s trying to hide a frown. Yoojin wants to tell him that he ought to work on hiding his annoyance better, but that’s not really his problem, is it? “I’ll let him know,” he says stiffly. And then, just like that, he leaves.
Yoojin gives a mental shrug. Well, if he got what he came here for.
Sometime during his physical therapy in the weeks afterwards, Yoojin decides to wander over to the financial administration department of the hospital and finds out that his bill has been transferred to a different party and that any of his out-of-pocket costs will be covered. Yoojin looks down at the paperwork and can’t suppress a laugh.
So, good enough to pay for his hospital costs but not good enough to come and help his hyung with recovery, huh?
-
Recovery takes forever.
Yoojin hates every single second of it. Each moment that he spends languishing in boredom and pain is another moment he feels himself getting weaker and another notch on his anxiety towards going back to dungeoning. He has enough for now to keep himself afloat in relative comfort, but sooner or later he’ll have to return to being a working hunter, and there’s nothing that he dreads more.
Some days, he almost wishes that the pain never stops.
-
“Hey, Yoojin-ssi,” Kim Minchul booms, clapping a heavy hand to Yoojin’s shoulder enthusiastically. Yoojin hisses a curse when his knee buckles under the weight, enough that he stumbles over the even ground outside the dungeon gate. “Whoa, there! Still getting your feet back under you?”
Yoojin gives him a weak smile. There’s no furtive way to rub his knee to ease the ache, so he just leaves it, even though the pain is almost driving him to distraction. His doctor technically hasn’t cleared him for heavy physical activity yet (which, on a scale of fitness, probably lies somewhere below dungeoning), but Yoojin can’t wait any longer. “Not enough to keep me away.”
Kim Minchul beams. “That’s the spirit!” He gives Yoojin another painful slap on the back and wanders off to talk to the other party members.
Kim Minchul is one of the good ones, Yoojin thinks, wobbling over to the nearest chair-height surface and sitting down. It’s why Yoojin chose him as the leader of his first foray back into a dungeon. Yoojin needs someone who won’t mind picking up his slack—or, even if he did mind, be polite enough to not point it out.
The dungeon goes… fine. Painfully. Yoojin is usually flexible enough to switch between the watch group, which checks for any stragglers that the initial dungeon clearing team might have missed, and the mining group, which collects any items that might be valuable, but this time he’s firmly assigned to the mining team. Even that’s harder than it should be, and Yoojin begins lagging behind after an hour of work.
Three hours in, and he feels a hand on his shoulder. “Hey, Yoojin-ssi,” Kim Minchul says with a frown. “I think you should stop.”
Yoojin is drenched in sweat and is wishing desperately for some painkillers, but he can’t stop here. “I can keep going. We still have over half of the job left.” No matter how slow he’s going, it still has to be better than being down a person.
“We do, but I’m worried about your health.” Kim Minchul looks him up and down critically before nodding decisively. “I’m sending you home.” He must spot the look on Yoojin’s face because he adds, “I’ll make sure to send you your share, okay? Just go home and rest.”
So Yoojin goes.
A week later, he gets a check in the mail. It’s definitely less than he should’ve gotten for completing a job of that size, but it’s more than fair for the amount of work that he did. Fair, but still not enough.
Yoojin manages to stick it out for another month before he’s back to dungeoning, this time with someone who’s less likely to step in out of compassion.
-
Yoojin’s leg heals, eventually.
Yoojin’s knee does not.
“Post-traumatic arthritis,” his doctor explains after Yoojin finally gives in and schedules an appointment. “It’s not uncommon after knee injuries. It seems like you have a relatively mild case, thankfully. Try to keep your movement to a comfortable level, and come in again if the pain gets worse.”
And Yoojin tries, he really does. The idea of chronic pain for the rest of his life terrifies him whenever he stops to think about the possibility, and he wants to avoid it if at all possible.
He starts to learn his tells, the way his knee is sometimes stiffer than usual in the morning, or is more prone to buckling under his weight, or pops uncomfortably if he sits or walks for too long. It’s a slow, uncomfortable process, relearning his body like this, but he doesn’t have any other option other than to live with it, so he does.
It gentles, eventually, or maybe it becomes so familiar that it fades to the back of his mind. He learns to budget around his lower income, preferring to err on the side of whole and healthy than richer but debilitated. It sits between his shoulder blades like an itch, the idea that he’s not doing enough, but he grows used to the habit of letting his body decide what’s enough instead of his mind, and he tentatively decides that he’s healthier for it.
-
And then Yoohyun fucking goes and dies for him.
What the fuck.
-
The fact that he literally went back in time doesn’t really sink in until Yoojin’s second day back in the past, when he wakes up and shuffles to the bathroom, and doesn’t get an ache in his knee from standing in the shower.
Even then, he brushes it off as the start to a good day until it’s nearing bed time and he realizes that his knee hasn’t so much as twinged the entire day. Oh, right, he thinks faintly, hand clasped over the knee that fractures three years from now. That hasn’t happened yet.
Still, that moment of enlightenment isn’t enough to break years worth of habits. Yoohyun looks at him concernedly when he chooses to sit instead of stand most of the time, but he never comments on it. Yerim calls him an old man for holding on to the railing whenever they have to go up a flight of stairs. The first time that Yoojin goes for an entire day training (playing with) Peace, he’s genuinely shocked at the end from how good he feels. Tired, but bearable. Normal.
It takes no time at all to accumulate new injuries and wounds to make up for the ones that were washed away by time, but even after weeks and months, he never quite forgets this one that his body doesn’t bear anymore.
#definitelyhuman10#sina writes#sctir#s classes that i raised#fanfiction#ngl I 100% forgot that was a thing that happened and was like ‘yoojin’s leg???’ when I got this ask#even tho I reference it in like every pre-reg scene that I write for the extra angst#i did a decent amount of research on the medical side of this#not only have I confirmed that I definitely do not want to be a doctor#this is also (probably mostly) medically accurate#probably.#my suspicion is that canon yj either had a comminuted (multiple) leg fracture that healed really well#or he used a really nice healing potion afterwards#for him to be able to brush it off this easily

What are the tf2 character’s Pokémon types/partner Pokémon?
How do you think they’d run their respective gyms?
I’m gonna work throughout all regions and ignoring type statistics because it’s more fun. Also, I’m choosing pokémon for them based within on their types rather than out of every pokemon.
Medic
He's a professor but also runs a flying-type gym. It’s an easy badge.
His whole team is generally flying or flying/something except for his Audino.
Tranquill is his partner, nicknamed Archimedes, who is always lurking around him, and his second in commands are Audino and Drifblim.
His Audino is an evil little bastard, which he finds adorable and hilarious. It could stab you and he’d go “aw, nice to see you guys bonding.”
He runs his Gym with a very playful and gleeful attitude. He’s far more interested in a compelling match than he is in winning. He actually gets REALLY exited when someone beats him and demands a chance to go over each of their pokémon to observe and gather data.
His research is revolutionary in both healing and strengthening pokémon. He’s created several potions.
Heavy
Steel type master gym leader. He’s a pokémon master. His gym is one of the hardest to beat and he does not go easy on anyone.
He’s made a lot of kids cry just from doing his job without any sugar coating, but he is genuinely helpful when it comes to advice on how to improve.
He is overjoyed to see people come back stronger and makes sure people who beat him understand how much they deserve this win.
His partner pokémon is a stoic but amiable Bastiodon who’s only friendly to him and Medic. It’s nicknamed Sasha.
His seconds are a Lucario and a Metagross.
Engineer
Electric gym leader. He’s not technically a professor, but he goes far beyond regular gym leader duties.
His gym is probably the second hardest after Heavy’s.
He doesn’t really have a partner so much as he has three: An Alolan Raichu, a Rotom, and a Jolteon. (Based on a dispenser, teleporter, and sentry respectively.)
They have personalities that match this with the Jolteon being very protective/agressive, the Raichu having a caretaker personality, and the Rotom always alert and on the go.
Despite being one of the most difficult leaders to beat along with an intense and stunning reputation, he’s really friendly. His gym has an extremely hospitable and casual air to it.
Pyro
Fire/Fairy. Their gym is purely Fire based but they have a lot of fairy types around, even if they don’t use them in battle.
Their partner is a Sylveon who was actually a twin Eeevee of Engie’s Jolteon. They rarely fight with it, however.
In the battles: their main three are a Rapidash, Pyroar, and a Litten, who is very powerful despite not being evolved (and not wanting to). (Shut up statistic nerds I’m using anime logic for this one and yes it’s because I hate Incineroar’s design) /lh
Their pokémon are all ones that love to be pet and hugged but don’t know their own strength, so end up causing a lot of accidental injuries.
Their gym is really intimidating but of lower-average difficulty.
Scout
He’s a new bug-type leader. He’s just barely been appointed a gym leader.
His parter is a Ninjask with his seconds being a Syther and a Ledian. His Ledian is really playful and loves to play ball with him, though isn’t as strong or skilled as the other two.
Most of his pokémon are actually bug/flying and speed is top notch priority in his gym. They may not pack a very big punch to pretty much half of all types, but they are incredibly hard to hit. Most attacks made without slowing them will miss.
That being said, his gym is still very much in beginner territory. In a game, his probably the second or first badge you’d get, next to Medic’s which could serve as something of a tutorial.
He talks smack and does not lose graciously. If you interact with him afterwards he’ll treat you like a homie, though.
Spy
100% runs a dark-type gym.
His partner is a Liepard that’s basically just the pokémon version of him.
Suave, arrogant, skillful, and generally tired of every stupid thing constantly going on around it.
His second is a Thievul who’s also just like him but more interested in playing tricks/humiliating others, and a Greninja.
His gym is fancy and haughty, but you will be insulted like you’re in a school yard fight. Probably the first gym in the ‘oh shit this is really hard’ section.
Sniper
I’m surprised at how easily I came to the conclusion Snipes would run a psychic-type gym; I thought I’d be going back and forth as to what type he’d have.
His partner is a Meowstick. Not just because Espurr is my favorite, but also because the restraint pokémon with keen eyes ability is is fitting for obvious reasons.
Gallade (also fitting for its courtesy) and a Wobbuffet (i cant resist giving Sniper one of these guys, I’m sorry. Plus, Wobbuffet is the “patient pokemon” so i’m calling it as justified.)
He also has a Meditite he just barley hatched from a an egg.
His gym is physically difficult to navigate. It’s not one building so much as it is several hidden nooks and krannies of floating rocks. Surprise battles are customary.
When in an actual battle, it’s of medium difficulty.
Demoman
Dragons.
His partner, though not his strongest, his a Shelgon. He is absolute best friends with it. His seconds are a chaotic/destructive Rayquaza and Hydreigon
Not part of his gym, but he runs a nursey for voltorbs/electrodes on the side. He gets blown up a lot but heartily laughs it off.
If this were a pokémon game, I feel like you’d fight him in a friendly match very early on. He’d fight only with his Shelgon and some voltorbs.
His gym would come later, as a surprise, and is on the upper-middle difficulty level. Like the last gym before you get into the difficult difficult stuff.
Soldier
Fighting gym.
His partner is a dogma Blaziken. His seconds are a Hitmonchan who’s as reactive as he is and a Bewear who’s just as crazy.
His Blaziken acts like a commander to the other two and is nicknamed Sergeant.
His gym is set up like a boot camp and the pokémon are trained as such. His gym is after Pyro’s in difficulty.
So, in order, a game/anime would go something like this:
1. Medic or Scout (you’d have the option of choosing which to go to first)
2. Medic or Scout (whichever you didn’t go to first)
3. Pyro
4. Soldier
5. Sniper
6. Demoman
7. Spy
8. Engineer
9. Heavy

First Impressions and predictions based on the coven Leaders
After a full first season their fame adorning the banners and walls, who they are being hailed, yet they themselves being kept in the shadows we now get first looks (and throughout 2a will meet) the emperors top dogs: The coven leaders. I will not lie as a group... these guys dissappoint me. Making the majority of them very human in appearance for me is a big no. Compare this group to the many colorful and fantastical creatures that are shown teaching at hexside and the hexside teachers are far more creative, unique, and fun. Maybe the artists decided to make the coven leaders look more like normal people so the audience would have an easier time understanding their expressions and body language. Maybe the more humanoid whitches are a higher class and have a easier time climbing higher than the more beast and demon like residence.? We will have to wait and see.
Seperate this group into individuals (like how we will hopefully meet them) and most of them become far more interesting, So below lets take a look at each coven leader individually, where the artists may have taken inspriation, and what What kind of characters they could maybe turn out to be.
The Beast keeping coven Leader: One of the only two that are not humanoids. What type of animal is he? At first I was sure he was a hedgehog, but maybe he could also be like a chipmunk or a squirrel. I get the feeling he might be partially inspired by Sonic from Sega. I was really into Sonic back in middle school. I liked the cartoons and read through the archie’s old comic series. But I kinda out grew him since then. I know from helping to take care of kids though that he is still popular with the younger generation. That’s kinda how I thin the Beast Keeping Coven leader will be: less interesting for older viewers, but a real fun charcter for kids.
The Healing coven leader: Now this guy looks like fun villain all around. Is some kind of witch docotor? a Dark Priest? The size the purple Grin, he looks like the phantom boss from those horror films where you get trapped in nightmares. Tell me he has scary theme song music and talks in a very high pitched voice. I’ve heard some people wonder if he could be Selena (oracle girl from hexside)’s dad. I don’t thinks so, the macaroni crescent shape n his head looks more like a fancy cowl than part of his actual head. Also him having a daughter in Luz’s class could be used as a reason for him to change sides, I want this guy to stay as a villian/antagonist. We all know that with this size group some will stay with the emperor and some will defect to Luz’s side (possibility a couple will die, we haven’t seen yet just how dark Dana is willing to go). Personally my view with redemption arcs and if a character “deserves them” is it depends on what it will do for the story/character afterwards? IF redeeming them opens more doors for the characters and directions the story can take, do it. IF it closes doors leave them as they are. I absolutely hate when clever and well written bad guys get “redeemed” in to boring, plot useless, weebs. The only reason I could see having this guy change sides is for him to “cure” Eda and Lilith’s curse, and I would much rather see the two of them gain control over their forms than be “cured” of them.
The Illusion coven leader: Another fun looking antagonist. My third favorite of these nine. If the healer guy is horror movie based. This guy is Disney based all around. Looks like one of those Vegas suave showmen styled character. Love it. I guarantee you he does not actually look that young or slicked back, but is using illusion magic to make himself more pretty. Not sure if he will stay with the emperor or not. Illusion is Gus’s track and I could see Dana having the leaders of Luz’s friends tracks be the ones to stand by them. If so I am fine with that (in the case of the abomination leader I will beg for it). Gaining the respect of someone as high up as a coven leader could be really great for Gus’s character. Just as long as I get plenty of laughs from Gus and this guy both along the way.
The Potion coven leader: My second favorite and in my opinion the most creative idea of the whole bunch. A mosquito that works in potions! Does he suck them up with his nose and carry them in.. whatever it is mosquitos store blood in. Also he looks angry. Like everyone else is either amused or board. This guy is fed up and ready to do something about it. Not sure if it is the Emperor, the other leaders, or the owl gang he is mad at, but it should be a worthwhile show down.
The Abomination coven leader: Yes this is my favorite design. Yes it is because he is such a beautiful man. Would never have expected someone who creates mucks (the pokemon) with legs would be so fine. Its more than that though. He looks the most kind. Their is no malice or guise in his smile and his green eyes are bright and relaxed. I wondered what the purpose of the Abomination track was and why it had “more opportunity” all last season. Well slight spoilers if you haven’t seen episode 2x02 it is the industrialist field. When you learn about Industrialization usually the idea is that it is done to help the human race reach its full potential, and it is up to each individual to decide what to do with that potential. Whether you call that the passion of a creative mind or the carelessness of a fool would also be up to you. But I really don’t want this guy to be all bad. If for no other reason that more spoilers for episode 2 * with the interest/caution the emperor is showing the blights I expect this guy to show up to their house, probably meet Amity, and we really do not need another not so nice adult in her life. She has had enough.
The Oracle coven leader: What is this? He’s got nails/caws at the ends of dread thingys like Kikimore, so is this her father? Does he have anything to do with her being in the Emporor’s coven? But this is my least favorite. Like what was the inspiration behind this guy? With so many legendary oracles in mythology and we get this guy who mostly looks saggy, washed out, tierd, and just Blah. Hope thier is more to him, but here is one who I am not holding my breath for an episode on.
The Plant coven leader: based on her banner I was expecting something like the Swamp Giant from ALTA. Instead they went in the direction of a very traditional witch desgine: An old women with a wrinkled face and really messy hair, who probably lives alone in the woods, with maybe the exception of a cat, and dances around a fire at night. Okay. She is definitely going to become an ally of the owl gang. This is the only female of the group, and it is neither in Dana’s message nor would it be popular with her target audience to make a villain or even an antagonist out of a women who managed to climb the later into a male dominated success level. I am actually looking forward to seeing her, because it will probably be in a Willow based episode, and after 2x02 (which I personally feel should not have been a luminaty episode but rather a Willow and Amity one finishing up their reconciliation arc), Willow deserves an episode with potential centered around her. An episode where she goes against the Plant track Leader would be that. This witches Grin isn’t exactly friendly, but its more mischievous than wicked. She gives off vibes as one of those people who like to test the mains, and if you pass her tests than you earn her respect. I have no doubt Willow could win at her little games, and doing so would be a huge boost the confidence she has spent the show building.
The Construction coven leader: Oh joy here’s the other one I am unimpressed with. Unlike with the Oracle guy I know where they got his design. To everyone saying that we first saw him at the convention, your not backing far enough up. If you have ever seen any cartoon ever where the main character wanders past or onto a construction sight you have seen this man. Every trio of workers sitting on a iron frame eating from a lunchbox. Every pig that makes a catcall at a disgusted women. Every exhausted worker who watches as your slapstick mains chase each other past at quitting time... they all looked EXACTLY like this guy. This is really the character leading the track Dana herself has said she would pick to join? They could have done a Golem made of brick an stone that resembles a palace. They could have done some kind of humanoid ant with super strength. They could have done a wizard with shapes and mathematics on his robe who carried a scroll everywhere that he compulsively scribbled blueprints onto. But instead we get Mr. Generic here.
The Bard coven Leader: This is R, Eda’s old friend from her hexside days. Did I save R for last because of this connection? Partially. I am also unsure what R’s pronouns are. To me R looks physically male. I have seen other posters use “she” when posting about R. One person posted that Dana had confirmed R uses “they” and if so awesome, I would really like to see that tweet. What ever R’s pronouns though their appearance in the show will be tied with Eda, er past, and what she had to give up in order to live free. I look forward to this new insight onto her character

The Sister (Neville Longbottom) (Part 2)
MASTERLIST
PART 1
pairing : neville longbottom x potter! reader
summary : you’re the overlooked potter twin, but as you grew older, you grew more graceful and cause people to finally looked at your way, but you didn’t realize that a herbology genius has been looking at you for some time now.
word count :
a/n : i have been trying to find harry imagines to read but i feel like i’ve read most of them, but i know that there are some gems hidden. please send me some works of other people for me to read! anyways, here’s the second part!
you can admit that it took a while to find your happy place. six years was extremely long to some people to find happiness. but to you, all was worth the wait.
it made you feel more grateful of the people you surrounded yourself with, and made you realise how important time is, and to not waste a second of it.
but seriously, some days you did lay on your bed and think about how long it took for you to be comfortable and confident in your own skin.
but that didn’t matter anymore, you have found amazing people and you appreciated it.
confidence can really make a huge change, now that you thought about it. people only spoke to you, came up to you, smiled at you only when you finally came out of your shell and exerted your confidence.
thus, you were happy that you took the right path, there’s only one more year of hogwarts, and you didn’t want to waste it.
you sat in the great hall, next to your brother this time, instead of hermione, talking about random stuff about potions and the classes you had earlier when you heard dean thomas cheering.
you and your brother looked up to see the small commotion, curious to know what the cheer was for.
you saw dean thomas and seamus patting neville on the back. wait, more like slapping it, really, with how hard they were patting it. you were sure he would get some bruises afterwards.
you looked at harry, sharing the same look with each other, with even more confusion. what was it they were so loud about?
“what are you lot screaming about?” ron, seated opposite of harry, who just was shoving food into his mouth.
“our neville finally kissed a lady.” the boys around them cheered louder.
your heart dropped. he did what?
the confusion on your face contorted into a sad, gloomy look. you looked at your brother again, knowing very well that he probably would be looking at you too.
and you were right, your eyes met each other. he gave you a look of sympathy, something you hated over the years that you learnt to love yourself. but this time, it felt worse.
it felt like a thousand needles were going through your chest, puncturing your quick pumping heart.
“oh no.” hermione whispers to herself. but you heard it, and so did ron and harry. they knew exactly what she meant with the tiny whisper she let out.
you gave your friends a small smile, to show that you’re fine, that they have nothing to worry about, especially not you.
“it’s okay to not feel okay, you know?” your brother whispered to you.
you gave him a tight lipped smile, stood up and got out of the great hall, walking to your dorm to get some rest.
the moment you sat on your bed, a single tear left your eye, dropping to wet your cheek. although you felt safe enough to cry and wail in the safe space of your dorm, you didn’t want to feel weak. you hated the feeling.
so you sat on your bed, wiped your one tear off your cheek and sighed.
you heard your door open, footsteps coming in, and the door closing. you knew it was hermione so you turned to look at her.
“it’s okay to cry.” hermione coos as she walks closer to you.
“i know, but i don’t feel like it.” you told her.
“you’ll feel better after, i promise.” she tries to tell you again.
you held a lot of hurt in your heart. you really liked neville, even before you became someone. you might even say you love him, with how much care you held for the nerdy boy.
but somehow, you didn’t want to show it,. you didn’t want people to know how much you were suffering with what just happened out there.
you hated the feeling of being weak. you felt it too much years ago, and now, you’ve grown.
“no tears.” you simply told hermione.
she comes to sit next to you, not before glancing at you to look at your face.
she rubs your back, trying to offer comfort to you, although you seem to be okay, she knew you weren’t.
neville saw you walking out the great hall, and hernione following you closely behind. sure, he did kiss ginny and he was initially happy, but now, he was more concerned.
you were his first crush after all. it’s just that, he felt the need to move on from you. many boys he knew, even girls wanted you now.
not that he felt he had the chance years ago, but no one really saw you like he did all those years ago. and now that you received all this new attention, it was a matter of time before you found yourself a good looking partner.
and he couldn’t live with that thought, he felt like knives were stabbing into his heart. all he felt was pain.
so he did what he thought was the best choice for him, and he followed what his friends told him to do. move on.
so he tried to fall for ginny, to catch feeling for her, to love her, to care for her as much as he did you.
but he couldn’t. so he did what his friends told him to do, kiss her. to go on a date with her.
and like any other group of teenage boys, they’d make a huge fuss over a small kiss. and ginny’s friend did too, since it had been both your first kisses.
when neville first leaned it, he thought that this was going to be it. that his stomach would be filled with butterflies, just like he imagined what yours and his first kiss to be like.
but it wasn’t. although he felt regretful the moment his lips touched hers, he couldn’t just run away. that would make her think that he’s a weirdo. so he acted calm.
but she saw it right through him.
“i know how much you love her.” ginny told him.
he was shocked. did he make it too obvious.
“it’s fine, i’m not hurt. go get her while you still can.” he was told.
he felt relieved. relieved that she understood him, that she didn’t feel used. although he knew he was using her for the time being to heal himself.
“she doesn’t like me like that.” neville told the girl standing in front of him.
“you don’t know that.” she tried to tell the boy.
“she has so many options, ginny. i’m no one to her.” he sighs.
“then you must not realise how she looks at you.” ginny told him, walking out of the common room.
neville stood there shocked at what she told him. but he didn’t believe him. a million people could tell him the same and he wouldn’t believe them.
he woke up the next morning, on a saturday and all of a sudden, the news had already spread like wildfire. everyone knew what had happened.
and he had to act like he liked it, the attention. but at some point, he glanced at ginny, who had the same look on her face. confusion, yet sympathy too.
she felt bad that everyone now knew about them now, and that you were one of them.
you. he looked at you, too.
and he saw the confusion on your face before it changed to a funny look when you found out just why his friends was cheering.
you turned to look at your friends, while your brother told you something. neville could see their faces change, too.
they seemed sad, like they knew something about this mad you sad, or mad. neville couldn’t really tell what they were feeling. they weren’t looking at him or at anyone else, really. they looked at each other, as if it was a matter that only the four of them knew.
neville’s heart broke, he didn’t want to see you sad, or mad, or whatever you were feeling at that point. he wanted to be there for you.
and at that point, he felt useless, seeing you leave the hall in some kind of hurry, hermione following closely behind.
neville looked back at ginny when he felt her gaze. she gave him a look, a look of sadness, like she felt bad. she saw you walk out, didn’t she?
neville shook his head at her, to tell her that her running out had nothing to do with him, not even a little.
ginny gave him a look, a look like she didn’t believe him. that look made him feel like he was missing something. something everyone saw and he didn’t.
there was no way you liked him, did you? if it had been so obvious, dean and seamus would have told him. right?
and you still sat on your bed, hermione beside you, no tears. yet she was still ever so understanding.
how couldn’t she? she knew how it felt, when ron kissed lavender when she clearly had feelings for the weasley. you were glad that you had someone who completely understood you, even if hermione had been telling you that you havae it harder than her.
you had to move on, and you knew that. sure, he saw you as you at some point, both before people knew you and after. but that didn’t matter.
it wasn’t like he liked you like that. he was probably being nice to you, since you are a potter after all.
but somewhere in you, you knew he wasn’t like that, that he didn’t just acknowledge you because you lived a killing curse. he couldn’t.
you sure did seem miserable in the few weeks after that day. you weren’t sure if everyone could see it through you, but you knew your circle of friends knew for sure.
but you thought wrong, apparently. everyone saw right through you. they could see the anger, the sadness, the resentment, the huger in your eyes as you walk past them.
but apparently none of them opposed to it, the anger looked good on you.
it changed you as a person. no, you weren’t snappy or grumpy, you just had this different look in your eyes.
you didn’t look pretty anymore, to them, you are now hot. they loved it.
you smiled, just not as brightly, not as often. you laughed, just not as loud. they saw it all, but it looked amazing on you.
you sat next to hermione this time, messing up a first years’ hair as you walked to your seat. you felt the entire school stares on you. you were no longer oblivious as you were years ago.
“you know, i like this version of you.” ron started.
you looked up to him to see harry elbowing ron’s side. you laughed, you knew what he meant.
“as much as i hate to say this, i agree.” hermione backed her boyfriend.
“wait, no. you weren’t supposed to encourage this.” your brother spoke up.
you smiled at him, giving him a teasing look, like he couldn’t win this time.
“majority wins, sorry bro.” you teased him some more.
harry rolled his eyes at your teasing. it was clear that this was not what he had planned in his head for the conversation to go. but even harry couldn’t deny, you did suit this version of yourself.
so moving forward, no one ever spoke about the change of your appearance ever again.
it was weird after a while, when slytherins started talking to you. don’t get it wrong, you were still kind, the only thing changed was your looks. you thought maybe your new look did attract slytherins.
not saying that any of them were mean to you, aside from the name calling that every gryffindor recieves, but they’ve never been this nice.
you even started getting close with blaise, one of draco malfoy’s best friends. and although you and draco never saw eye to eye, your friendship with blaise was too strong for someone to come between.
yes, before anyone thinks differently, you and blaise are strictly friends, best friends, even. but never more than that. blaise knew how hurt you had been from neville and he spoke a lot about his player ways.
you two just knew if feelings were to get involved, it wouldn’t work.
but of course, it is a school full of teenagers, they didn’t understand how two genders could become friends and not catch feelings, so rumours did arise.
not that you two ever cared, anyways.
neville watched carefully, like he always did. you were mellow for a while, and then you became friends with blaise.
he saw how blaise made you happy, how your smile would brighten every time he was in the same room as you. that made neville happy, at first. and then he realised that you two had something special.
just like what he thought before, he never had a chance and he never will. and it proved him right when you got close with blaise.
it was weird, though. although you two are close, there hadn’t been series of public display of affection following it. unless the usual forehead and cheek kisses blaise gives you every time you meet each other and part ways.
besides that, everyone can say that they have never really seen you kiss or held hands. you two did squeeze each others hands when one of you are anxious, but nothing more.
again, it was non of neville’s business, so he didn’t think it far.
but that didn’t stop him from watching you.
“and the couple arrives.” dean says loudly, purposely loud.
you and blaise looked at each other, smiling after hearing what dean said. you two are clearly used to the comments people make.
blaise and you separate, you sitting with the golden trio, blaise sitting with his group of slytherin friends just the table opposite you. he let you walk to your table, not before giving you a kiss on the forehead.
“i can’t even get my boyfriend to do that.” hermione sulks beside you when you finally settles down.
“trouble in paradise?” you teasingly asked ron and hermione.
“shut up, will you?” ron snaps.
“fiesty.” you mumbled, still laughing, now along with harry.
you nudged hermione’s arm, to find out what the couples’ fight is about. to which she mouthed “later” to you.
“you and blaise seem close” harry starts.
“you jealous?” you asked.
“what? no? i’m curious to what’s going on.” he tells you.
clearly you interpreted it wrong. you thought he asked since you and blaise have a closer relationship now rather than you and harry. a sibling relationship, not the other kind.
“we love each other like siblings, nothing more.” you told him, seriously. you didn’t want anyone to misunderstand.
“you two would be cute together, though.” hermione chimed in, ron and harry nodding along.
you turn back to where blaise is sitting and caught his attention.
“they think we’d look good together.” you told him, smiling, waiting for a response. you knew he had the same sense of humour as you did.
“we would make beautiful babies, huh?” his tone very much joking.
“we sure would.” you joked back, turning back to your group as blaise does the same. you could still hear him laughing at your antics.
you shrugged your shoulders to your brother, who seemed tense that he made eye contact with slytherins.
“wait. you two are not together?” you heard pansy shrill.
now you’re confused. you and pansy are pretty close, if you said so yourself. so you were wondering how could she not have known that you and blaise are friends?
you turned back to look at them, blaise already looking at you, asking for help. you shook your head to pansy.
“damn, i was planning a wedding for nothing?” she said, loud enough for people close to hear.
you and blaise shook your heads at her stupidity. there was no way she was actually planning a wedding ahead for people, was there?
well, she is one unpredictable woman.
you looked at blaise again. “well, might as well make use of that wedding.” you clearly joked.
he laughed along with you. you saw draco roll his eyes, but smiling slightly. he was envious of the relationship you two have.
blaise stood up by the second, signalled a fourth year next to you to move as he sat down next to you.
this was a common occurrence , him eating with you, so no one said anything. he ate from your plate and utensils, clearly have done this a lot now, with how comfortable he is with sharing.
he conversed with your friends, catching up with some gryffindor drama that he hadn’t heard from you.
he would feed you at times, when he was too busy listening or talking to eat. that was his way of showing he cared.
you felt the stares, even hermiones. the stares were of ency, but hermione’s was different. hers was teasing. you knew what was to come later.
“i won’t have to cancel that wedding after all.” you heard pansy said as she saw blaise trying to make you drink water.
neville got up abruptly. “NO” he shouted so loudly, his voice bounced off the walls of the great hall.
blaise ceased his movements, putting down the goblet containing water away from your lips.
now the attention was on neville. what was he trying to do, anyways?
blaise gave you a look. you knew what that meant. you shook your head, not knowing what this was about but you were as curious as he was.
“no wedding.” neville said, this time softer.
you saw his friends beckoning him to sit down, to stop embarrassing himself.
“and why not?” blaise tried to encourage him to speak. you nudged him, silently telling him to stop.
“because-.” neville started but stammering over his words.
you stopped looking at blaise, now focusing your full attention on neville instead.
neville’s eye moved to look around, making eye contact with one person and then jumping to another. and then his eyes landed on yours, making eye contact.
you raised your eyebrow as he kept stumbling on his words, not really saying anything that made sense.
“because i love her. i’ve loved her from the day i saw her on the train with harry.” neville rambled.
your eyes widen. and then confusion clouded your brain.
so why had it took him this long to even make it seem like he noticed you?
you heard blaise laugh under his breath, but sounded like a scoff to the people he didn’t know.
“took you long enough.” blaise said, now smiling from ear to ear.
“wait, what?” neville becomes shock, now clearly uncomfortable with being in the spotlight.
“you really hurt her, man. but you can change that.” blaise stood up from your side, patted him on the back and came back to you to kiss your head before giving you a not to subtle wink.
“you might be needing that wedding after all, just not for me.” blaise jokes.
“oh, shut up.” you rolled your eyes.
you didn’t even have time to comprehend before neville reached you.
he came down to your height, since you were still seated. and in the matter of seconds, his lips landed on yours, not giving you enough time to understand the situation.
you relaxed into him as he place one of his hands on your face, the other on your cheek.
as you two broke apart, it was hard to ignore the stares.
you looked away from his eyes, gave a glare to the others, rage in your eyes overtaking the love that had just been there a second ago.
“what are you idiots looking at?” you snarled, to which shocked people since you weren’t the violent type.
but still, they looked away to give you two some privacy.
neville guided your face to look at him with the hand that was still on your cheek to kiss you once more. the red in your eyes disappear as he calms you down.
safe to say, blaise made some calls after your graduation together. he was the main sponsor of your wedding.

A long time (Sirius x Reader)
Summary: It did take a while for you and Sirius to find your way to each other – and then you lost him when he was landing himself in Azkaban. But will you find each other again?
Warnings: blood, injuries and a bit of screaming
Word Count: ~ 4.700
Being best friends with the Marauders came with good and bad things.
You started to get really close to them when you figured out their little secret. They thought they were so clever, but if you looked closer and if you put together the signs it wasn’t really hard to figure out. Remus Lupin was a werewolf. How else would you explain his look every full moon? Him becoming restless before it and exhausted afterwards?
Sirius Black, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew were also strange when the full moon was near. They fussed about Remus, became somehow protective of him and especially the first two started picking more fights than usual. It wasn’t also pretty hard to figure out that three of them planned to become animagi, especially when they carried a mandrake leaf under their tongue for a month.
That is if you really paid attention. And you did. Not because you wanted to get their attention, but because you were worried about Remus and were impressed what his friends were willing to do for him. You liked Remus, because he never failed to help you when he noticed you were struggling. And he always wished you a good day when he walked past you in the mornings. Or he just shoved the coffee in front of you, when the pot in front of you was already empty. He had soon noticed, that you despised tea.
And because all of that you noticed that the lot of them looked more ruffled than ever. You decided to help in your own way. You read about healing spells and how to make potions to help with their injuries. After the next full moon, you waited in the common room. You noticed that the portrait opened and were sure you heard something, but couldn’t see anyone.
“I know you’re there,” you said and hoped it would do the trick. Nothing. “I know why you sneak out every full moon.” Again. Nothing. Okay, maybe that did nothing to reassure them that you wouldn’t rat them out. “I have some ointments for your injuries and am pretty good with healing spells.” Still nothing and them finally the head of Peter appeared.
“Could you have a look at my arm?” he asked.
“Peter,” Sirius and James hissed at the same time. But the damage was done and so they got rid of their invisible cloak while you patted the seat next to you on the couch. Peter plopped down and showed you a gash on his arm.
“Why are you doing this?” James asked suspicious.
“Because I like Remus and I want to help,” you said simply. That didn’t ease their minds but they let you patch them up and soon it became a habit when they went out on their nightly walk. Slowly a friendship started to form when they realized you wouldn’t rat them out.
James greeted you when he sat down in front of you and Sirius stole a piece of toast from you before he took the seat next to you. “We may need your help,” he said with his mouth full of toast.
You made a noise that you heard him and he should continue while you were chewing your eggs.
“You know that we have problems running into teachers and prefects for a while, right? So, we thought we could create a map,” James said.
“A map of what?” you asked and took a sip of your drink.
“Hogwarts of course,” James said.
“We’re going to put a spell on it, so we can see where someone is at that moment. So, we can get faster to Moony.”
“Sure, that’s the only reason you want this. Okay, but what should I do?”
“We want you to draw it for us. You have way more talent. Come on, please?” James tried to bribe you. “For Moony.”
“Okay, but I need some time. I have to write that essay for Professor Binns and my homework for potions and there’s the Hogsmeade trip on Saturday.” Finally you agreed to help them Saturday afternoon after your trip to the town.
Somehow you knew that you’d regret that decision. You walked into the common room, your cheeks still red and your thoughts were somewhere else, when you heard your name.
“How was the date?” James wriggled his eyebrows.
“Well, the astronomy tower isn’t that creative,” Sirius gave his input. You stopped.
“How the hell did you know?” you walked closer to them and saw that James tried to hide a suspicious looking paper under his charms book. Remus didn’t look up from his homework and Peter tried to suppress his giggle.
“YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLE!” you exploded. “HOW DARE YOU?”
The boys looked shocked at you and Peter stopped his laughing. You had never used that tone with them.
“Give me that,” you grabbed the Marauders Map from James book.
“Hey,” he protested.
“I helped you to help Remus.” You lowered your voice. It wasn’t as if you want to expose your friend although you were angry. “I didn’t expect you to stalk me and I’m so disgusted by you. How dare you to betray my trust like that? I don’t want to see any of you right now.”
“But, but... the map?” you heard Peter behind you.
“You get it back when you need it,” you yelled and stormed towards your room. You had a nice evening, but now it was all ruined. There were tears in your eyes because you were so angry and the boys had seen them.
The next morning you saw the four boys sitting at the Gryffindor table when you entered the Great Hall. You walked past them and ignored their greetings.
You sat down almost at the other side, but it didn’t take long for a hand with a coffee to appear in front of you.
“You don’t get it back,” you said and grabbed your own cup to fill it with coffee.
“You can’t keep it forever, we need it,” you heard Sirius voice.
“And when you need it, you’ll get it.” You said simply and took a sip of your drink. It was too hot and you burned your tongue, but you didn’t make a face and acted as if nothing had happened.
When you didn’t add anything and started to pile some food on your plate, he left you alone after he placed the cup in front of you. They tried a few times to get the map from you, but you didn’t give in.
However, on the night of the next full moon you sat in the common room in front of the fire, the map in front of you. When you saw the guys you gave it to them and simply said “Take care”, before they left the room under the invisible cloak.
You waited for them to return just like always. But it took them much longer to arrive than usual. And when they walked into the room without the cloak on you realized why. They had problems bringing Sirius in. They couldn’t bring him to the infirmary – what should they say? We became illegal animagi so we could help our werewolf friend shift?
That Remus was a werewolf was no secret so he could go to the infirmary and were escorted to the common room, but his friends? They were at your mercy.
“What happened?” you asked. You tried to wake yourself faster and even slapped yourself in the face. Your next thought did the trick. “You’re not bitten, are you?”
“No, it was an accident. He ran into my antlers,” James said and let his friend down. He aimed for the sofa but instead Sirius sat in front of it.
“Okay, okay. Let me see,” you said. “I’m going to undress you, yeah?” you said. When you didn’t even get a sassy reply you started to worry. “Are you still with us?” you fumbled with his jacket but his Pullover started to get a bigger problem as it was also in the wound.
“Wouldn’t miss this for the world,” you heard him and relief flooded you.
You turned towards the other boys. “I need some time to clean this. The others will wake up soon, can we move him to your dorm?” The three of you somehow managed it and Peter went back to get the evidence of the accident.
“Okay, okay. I don’t even know where to begin,” you talked to yourself. James started to say something, but you shushed him. And then you got to work.
It did take a lot of time, so much, that you weren’t even nearly finished when the first lesson started. You stayed with Sirius when James and Peter walked towards class, working on an excuse for the both of you. Remus walked into the dorm when you were still working on his friend. He looked like death, but he was startled when he noticed Sirius condition.
He asked how he could help you and when you finally finished you were so exhausted that you fell asleep sitting on the floor with your head on Sirius bed.
You woke up, when someone shook your shoulder and called your name. “We brought you something to eat,” you heard James voice. “And you need to get up, this can’t be comfortable. Sit down on my bed.”
You agreed and walked slowly towards the bed he had pointed at and took a bite of the offered sandwich. “I’m really beat. I don’t think I’ll make it to my dorm, would it bother you much, if I sleep here?”
James told you you were free to use his bed and you didn’t even finish the sandwich before you passed out again – sandwich still in your hand.
“Hey, do you want to sit with us?” Sirius asked the next day when you walked into the great hall.
“No, thank you. I think I’ll sit with the girls today,” you replied. “I also need to copy yesterday's notes.” You walked further towards your dorm mates when Peter came and sat down next to the boys.
“Sirius, the newest gossip is about you,” he started. Sirius made a noise that told him he was listening but was not really interested. He’d heard a lifetime of gossip about himself.
“It’s about you and her,” he pointed towards you with his head as his hands were busy with the food, “and why both of you weren’t in class yesterday.”
“Seems like McCallan doesn’t like it also, he’s shooting daggers at you with his eyes.” James piped in.
“He’s the guy she dates, right?” Peter asked.
“Sirius, don’t,” Remus simply said.
“What?” Sirius started.
“You know what” Remus finished.
Sirius smirked and stood up. He walked towards you and put his arms around your shoulder from behind so his face was at your ear. “Can I get those notes from you?” he asked.
“Why don’t you ask James? He doesn’t need to copy them first,” you asked not surprised.
“Because nobody can read what he writes. Come on, give me yours,” he nudged your shoulder before he grabbed your cup and took a sip from it. He noticed that the girls you were sitting with stared at him.
“Okay, fine. You’ll get it tonight.” He thanked you and gave you a light kiss on your hair before he disappeared again.
“What was that about?” Marlene asked.
“What?”
“His behaviour around you? I thought you said there wasn’t anything going on between the two of you?” she asked further.
“There isn’t. Sirius is a big flirt; he does that always. And I’m not the only one on the receiving end, so it doesn’t really bother me.” You shrugged.
“Well, I know at least one person who is bothered,” Lily said and looked right at the guy that James had also mentioned. You turned around and waved, but received just a glare.
“Sirius is just a friend,” you said again.
Not everyone believed you. A few days later McCallan and you decided you wouldn’t see each other anymore. He was bothered by your friends and told you you shouldn’t see them anymore. You didn’t want to hear any of that. Even if you wanted that how should you pull that off? You were in the same house. And you didn’t want to do that. If someone didn’t trust you then what’s the point?
“It's not easy being friends with you,” you sighed when you sat down on the couch in the common room.
“Oh, we know. But why exactly?” James asked.
“Because every guy has a problem with me being friends with you guys.” You threw your arms theatrically in the air.
“There is an easy solution, you know?” Sirius said and looked up from the game in front of him. “Date one of us. We can actually stand each other.”
“Yeah, right.” You scoffed. “But I need to ask you something else. Can someone help me with Defence Against Dark Arts? I really need your help. I swear I couldn’t save myself if my life depends on it.”
“That’s why everybody has different talents. But we’ll help you. Tell us what you struggle with,” James offered while Sirius looked back at the game played with Peter and Remus.
“Okay, what’s up with Sirius?” you asked finally when you sat down next to James in the classroom.
“What?” he asked confused and turned to look at you, after he suddenly closed his book so you couldn’t see what he has written in there.
“I asked what’s wrong with Sirius. He doesn’t act like himself.”
“He likes you,” he said as if it were as simple like that. “I’m surprised you haven’t noticed before. Didn’t it struck you as strange, that whenever you interacted with someone interested in you, he was near and touched you in some kind of way.”
“I thought he was still acting like this because of that map,” you said confused.
“Sometimes you’re a helpless case,” James patted your head while he laughed in your face.
You thought about James words the whole day. But it was James who had said something like that and what if this was some sort of a prank? If you had to be sure you needed a second opinion and you were sure that Remus would be honest with you.
“Hey Remus, can I talk to you?” you asked him when all of you left the table in the Great Hall. He nodded and the others looked curious at you while you stayed behind.
“Does Sirius like me?” you asked when the others were out of the hearing range.
“Why are you asking?” He wasn’t sure what he should answer.
“Does he? I asked James why Sirius acted weird and he told me he liked me. But I don’t want to make a fool out of myself in case this was a prank, so I’m asking you. Does Sirius like me?”
Remus nodded. You let out your breath slowly. You hadn’t thought so far and what you’d do with that information.
“You don’t have to act on it. Think about it and see where it leads you,” Remus suggested and that was what you did. Sirius and you didn’t become a couple overnight. You started touching here and there – an arm thrown over your shoulder, your knees touching when you sat next to each other and finally you’d take his hand when you were walking to the same class. You didn’t really talk about it; it seemed natural that one night he kissed you goodnight before he went to his dorm and from then on it was sealed that the two of you were together.
Dark. That would be the best word to describe Grimmauld Place 12. It was dark and depressing. You were astonished that Sirius had managed to live her as long as he did.
After you rang the bell you heard screaming and shouting from the inside. The door was opened and you were greeted with a wand almost in your nose. You looked surprised at your old school friend Remus Lupin, just a bit older and more beaten up. Behind him someone screamed blood traitors.
“What happened the first time you tried to heal me?” Remus voice was darker than you remembered.
“You had cut your hand in herbology and hadn’t told anyone about it. I thought I was a genius for making Murtlap essence but had used the wrong ingredient and you had to go to the infirmary because your hand started to get purple and there were blisters between your fingers.”
Suddenly the wand disappeared from your nose and a smile showed on Remus face. “Come in, come in,” he ushered you inside and closed the door quickly behind you. The noise was almost deafening when you were inside. Remus closed some curtains in front of the painting and when you heard the words only muffled you realised that the woman in the portrait screamed them.
Remus threw an arm around your shoulder and led you to the kitchen. You were greeted with more eyes than you had anticipated and one of them caught your eye. “Lily,” left your lips before you could think about. “I’m so sorry, this must be so weird, but your eyes.”
“No, it’s okay. I hear it a lot actually,” Harry said. Remus didn’t need to point out who he was. You had recognised him at once even if you hadn’t seen him since he was one.
“I’m really sorry, that we haven’t been there for you. Really sorry.” He didn’t say anything. It wasn’t okay. Remus introduced you to the others: Weasleys over Weasleys, Harrys school friends and Sirius cousin Nymphodora (who told you she would hex you, if you called her that).
“It’s so good to see you again,” you looked at Remus when everyone sat down. Molly offered tea, but someone interrupted that you only liked coffee. Your eyes went immediately to the door. There he stood – Sirius. You couldn’t say anything. You had imagined what you’d say to him, but now no words would come out.
“Well it’s a long time since we have seen each other, huh?”
It was suddenly so quiet you could’ve heard a needle drop. You weren’t sure if they knew about you, but the tension was filling the room. That was until you exploded. “That is the first thing you say to me after all this time? You couldn’t think of something dumber?”
“Well,” he started slowly, but you weren’t done yet.
“You weren’t the only one who lost someone. Remus and I lost our friends too. We lost all our friends, not just Lily and James. But you couldn’t have thought about us, have you? If you had thought about Harry for a moment.”
“I THOUGHT ABOUT HARRY. HE WASN’T SAFE WITH PETER STILL OUT THERE,” Sirius interrupted.
“HE COULD HAVE BEEN SAFE WITH US! Look where it got you. Twelve years of Azkaban and you would still be there. What did you think? That I’d welcome you back with open arms after you left us?”
“Well, isn’t it nice? You’re all reunited, well almost all,” you heard the voice of Severus Snape. Snape would have been the next one who would have gotten an earful of you if Remus hadn’t put his arms in front of you. “Calm down,” he whispered.
“Would everyone who isn’t in the order leave now, so we can start the meeting?”
“Stupid asshole,” you muttered, but Ron heard you and snickered. You left the room with the younger ones and didn’t look at Sirius as you walked past him. They signed you that you should be quiet when you walked past the portrait.
When you were upstairs all of you took place in an unused living room. You sat down on the couch and dust came out of the cushion. “Cosy,” you joked.
“You aren’t in the Order?” Hermione asked when nobody knew how to start the conversation.
“No, I never was. I never had a knack for defending let alone attacking, although I had really good friends who tried to teach me. But it never really worked. I was sitting at home waiting for everybody to come back and to tend those injuries.” You shrugged.
“But the Order isn’t only about fighting,” the young witch continued.
“That’s true. But we figured it was better when I didn’t know some things. So, I stayed back, first alone and then I looked after Harry.” You smiled at the boy.
“Were you good friends with my parents?” he asked.
You nodded. “We went to school together. Your mom lived in my dorm and I befriended the boys. When we graduated, we stuck together. Your mom and dad moved in together, got married and had you. Remus, Sirius and I moved in together while Peter still stayed with his parents.”
You talked about an hour with the kids. “Were you and Sirius close?” Harry asked finally the question he had wanted to ask for a while..
Before you could answer a voice from the doorway answered for you. “We were in love.” You looked up to see Sirius standing there and you hadn’t imagined the pain you were feeling in that moment when you looked in his eyes.
“I need to go,” you said suddenly and you weren’t able to sit there any longer.
“We need to talk,” Sirius grabbed your arm and his touch startled you.
“We do, but not right now. I didn’t know what I expected when I followed Remus invitation. I’ll come back tomorrow and we talk, okay?” He nodded and reluctantly let go of your arm. You smiled at Harry before you walked out of the dark house and made your way home.
Remus put his hands on his friends' shoulder. “I told you she wouldn’t make it easy on you.”
“But it used to be so easy between us,” Sirius sighed. He didn’t expect you to look like you did and he was a bit insecure how he looked. He knew he didn’t look like he used to. Living on the streets and caves had left its marks on him.
“Dinner will be ready soon,” Remus announced to the young witches and wizards, squeezed his friends' shoulder and made his way back downstairs.
A tiny owl was sitting on your window sill. You probably hadn’t heard it as it was raining so much. Swiftly you opened the window to let it in. You got an old towel and a piece of bread, spread the towel on your table and put bread crumbs in the middle before you sat the owl down and freed her from the letter it had carried.
You sat back down and opened the letter. You recognized the handwriting immediately.
Darling,
Can you believe that I’m writing a letter to you? As if you were a distant family member? We could always talk about everything. I remember that I used to sit down next to you, laid my head on your shoulder and when you started to put your hands through my hair, I started to spill my secrets and worries. Or later when I’d join you in bed and you put your head on my stomach and I’d put my arms around you, just to feel that you’re still by my side?
You know that I’m selfish and it kills me to think if you’ve found someone else. Do you lay with them now? I don’t know if I should be happy or not. Because I shouldn’t wish for you to be alone and miserable all those years and still, I have that hope that you might have waited for me.
You were right, it wasn’t fair of me to leave you behind. But no one knew we switched the secret keeper. How was I supposed to know that Peter was the little snitch? Would you have believed me when I told you? I don’t think so. But to be honest I was filled by this rage. I had to make it right and not once did I thought that I would end up in prison.
You know of all the things James had done for me. He took me in, he was like a brother and I needed to take revenge. Of course, I should have thought more about Harry. But I thought I put him in good hands. Honestly, I thought they would bring him to you and Remus. And all those times I thought you’d raise him.
I’m so sorry for burdening you with everything I did. I know I promised you other things. And when I saw you today, I couldn’t help myself to see everything that I could have had. We would have been married by now, we would have raised Harry like our own son and maybe we could have even one of our own. You know that I never saw myself like that, but when Harry entered the world all I know that if I would have a family it would only be with you.
I know it has been a long time, but when I saw you, I felt the same as the last time I saw you. I had this huge longing and it hurt me to see your hurt. I wish I could have taken it away.
But it doesn’t matter what I want, the only thing I can (and will) ask of you is that you don’t shut Harry out – even if you can’t stand to see me. He has to stay here for the break but if you want to see him without seeing me, just say so and I will stay out of your sight.
Yours forever,
Sirius
The next day you stood in front of that dark house. You weren’t sure if you should ring the doorbell or if it was better to not wake that awful portrait. The little owl in your hand took matters into its own wings as it wiggled until you set it free and it flew up to a window and started picking it with its beak. It took a while until you saw Harrys wild hair and it took a while for him to notice you.
It didn’t take him long to reach the front door and he opened it in his pyjamas. “I’m sorry I have woken you,” you smiled sheepishly at him. To be honest you couldn’t wait to see Sirius again. “How about I make you breakfast as a peace offering?”
He nodded and quietly the two of you walked into the kitchen. “He really misses you; you know?” he said suddenly when you were busy mixing ingredients in a bowl.
“I know,” you admitted. “I don’t want to offend you, but this is something Sirius and I have to figure out on our own, okay?” you turned around and looked at him to show him you weren’t angry at him. It didn’t take long for others to appear in the kitchen and Mrs Weasley was surprised and couldn’t really handle that anyone else was doing the breakfast so she took over step by step until you sat down next to Harry.
Sirius stepped into the kitchen and stopped in his tracks when he spotted you laughing with Harry.
“Won’t you sit down?” you pointed towards the empty chair next to you. He nodded and walked slowly towards you, almost as if he was afraid, he would frighten you and you’d jump and run.
You still made light conversation with Harry while sneaking a glance at Sirius here and there. Every time you were looking at him, he was staring at you. “Okay, so would you like to talk to me privately?” you asked him quietly.
“I’d do many things to you in private, but talking is okay for now,” he answered in your ear and your loud laugh startled the others in the room.
“You’ll never change,” you stood up and left the kitchen with him.
“Do you want me to change?” he asked and boldly took your hand to guide you into the direction of his bedroom.
“Never,” you admitted. It wasn’t everything settled between you and you still were angry at him, but in this moment, you knew that you’d get over it. You had missed his touch and his hand in yours, your fingers intertwining was the best you had felt in a long time.

mice on venus (1.1) (you are here) | far (1.2) title inspo: (spotify link) (youtube link) idk if this will go on ao3 but here’s a spot for editing
— — —
Patton’s voice tears from his throat in a raw and terrified shout. "Roman!" He screams, hands outstretched uselessly, as Roman tips backwards over the edge of a ravine, and disappears.
Logan is there, barely a second later. He rifles through his bag, finds what he needs, and throws it with all the force he can muster. Gravity won't let it hit the ground before Roman does, but it will help when it arrives nonetheless. He hurries to stand, turn, and face —
"What happened?!" Virgil asks breathlessly, daggers drawn and at the ready.
"Roman fell into a ravine," Logan answers with so little tact that Patton would scold him for it if he were paying enough attention to overhear. The color in Virgil's face drains. "I threw a Splash Potion of Healing after him," Logan reassures without pausing, "but we need to get down there."
"I knew I should've stayed home," drawls their final party member, sounding awfully bored despite the situation.
Patron does hear this and he rounds on Janus with fire in his eyes. "How could you be so cruel?! Roman might be dead!"
Janus raises an eyebrow. "Were you not listening just now? Our local brewer lobbed a potion. Roman's seen worse. He'll be fine."
Patton's lower lip trembles but it's hard to tell whether he wants to cry or to berate. Maybe both. He looks for Virgil, only to find him at the ravine's edge with a bucket. Water is flowing from where it's been poured, creating a safe passage for them to traverse down in once safe.
Roman, meanwhile, is falling.
His only warning had been the horror dawning on Patton's face and even then, it came after his foot met air instead of solid ground like he expected. For some inane reason, his first thought as he went plummeting was "who put this ravine in the middle of a forest?" Next, it was panic and "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH—"
With the wind stinging his face and his blood roaring in his ears, Roman knows he has mere seconds to figure out how to make this suck less. He struggles to right himself until he's facing the ground that is rushing up to meet him. He pulls his shield from where it is strapped to his back and thanks Jeb that he'd had the foresight, as their fighter, to give himself something sturdier. The rickety thing the others use wouldn't have done much for him here but the curved, solid iron plate he tucks himself into should absorb most of the impact.
That doesn't mean it doesn't still hurt like hell. He can barely cry out with how his breath is knocked out of him. Pain shoots up his ankles and legs, lighting every nerve along the way. He tilts over, gritting his teeth and trying to see beyond the stars that swim through his vision. He isn't safe… There could… Mobs…
Glass shatters next to him and he flinches from it. Please not a witch, please not a witch, please not a witch —
As opposed to the nauseous kick of poison or the heavy weight of slowness, however, warmth of healing washes over him. In his shock, he'd forgotten anyone had been with him but of course, Logan would have been right behind Patton, with his emergency potions. Relief floods over everything else. He isn't alone. He has help.
"— an idiot!" is the first thing Roman hears when he comes to. He opens his eyes to see Virgil pacing beside him, flailing his arms, and apparently mid-rant. It's probably Logan at his feet, wrapping his ankle in a splint. Ah… the pain from it being jostled must've woken him… He's glad he doesn't remember it.
"Honey," Patton's voice whimpers, close to him, choked and scared and none of that will do —
"C'mere," Roman croaks, reaching for his beloved. Patton catches Roman's hand and holds it almost too tightly. Roman isn't sure which one of them is shaking. He brings Patton's hand to his lips and kisses his knuckles. "I'm okay, sweetness. Don't cry. Please. You know a smile will help me recover better than anything."
"That's not true," Logan pipes up, deadpan.
Patton gives him a tremulous smile anyway.
"Learn to watch—" Virgil stops. Freezes. Looks up. "Oh. Great." He's rifling through his supplies before the others even have time to ask him what's wrong.
The sudden realization of dimming light answers them well enough, though. Janus wastes no time in beginning to help Virgil, moving with him to the ravine's wall to back their makeshift base against. Sunset brings with it monsters and they certainly aren’t in the best place to handle that.
"You need to sleep before you get back on your feet," Logan tells Roman as he packs away his med kit. "No adventures for at least three days."
Roman gasps, as if Logan has just told him his birthday is canceled.
"Logan's right, dear," Patton intervenes, pulling one of Roman's arms over and around his shoulder. He helps him stand slowly, making sure Roman favors weight on his less injured ankle. "It's okay, I'm gonna stay with you! It'll go by so quick, you won't even know it happened."
Roman wants to complain further but he’s lightheaded from his now-vertical position. With practiced ease, Virgil and Janus have a lean-to set up to keep them safe from the nights terrors. Unfortunately, there’s only enough materials for two beds. Fortunately, they sleep in shifts anyway. It takes some coaxing to convince Roman that he doesn’t need to stay awake for one but once his head is on the pillow and Patton is combing a hand through his hair, he’s out.
Logan sits up for the first two hours. Forty minutes in, Janus leaves to explore the ravine. The others know better than to even try stopping him. He returns, laden with coal and iron ore.
“Roman’s shield is gonna need repairing,” Janus says matter-of-factly as he takes over for the next watch.
Logan groans. “I suppose, at least, the painting will keep him busy while he’s grounded.”
“He’ll last…” Janus pauses, considering. “I give him no more than a day and a half.”
“If he wants to sustain his injuries, sure.”
“Bet you he’ll try stealing an Instant Health potion.”
“Not if he knows what’s best for him,” Logan snaps.
Janus smiles with too many teeth which isn’t to say he has too many teeth, just that normally his smiles are close-lipped. Logan scowls before ducking into their small shelter to try and get some rest.
The next two hours pass without trouble. Virgil takes his turn. The howling screech of an enderman startles Logan awake but just as quick, Virgil is peeking in on the party and waving the concern away with an ender pearl clutched in his fist.
“Didn’t wanna pass up the opportunity,” he whispers, before returning to his post.
Patton sets up for the last watch. Virgil makes Logan take the free bed, which doesn’t take much convincing seeing as he’s half-asleep already. Roman begins to toss and turn so Virgil sits on the ground beside him, reaches up, and holds his hand.
“Sap,” Janus says from the corner where he’s been making torches.
“Have you slept at all?” Virgil asks instead of taking the bait.
When Janus doesn’t answer, Virgil frowns. “How long has it been?”
Another round of silence.
“J, what the fuck? We don’t need phantoms on top of everything else!” Virgil raises his voice without meaning to. Logan stirs at the sound of it; he’s always been a light sleeper.
“Hush,” Janus hisses. They wait a few moments more until Logan has settled. “I will when we get back home. I’ve got at least one more safe night.”
Virgil’s glare sharpens but he doesn’t push any further. Janus goes back to his crafting but Virgil notices now how slowly he works. Instead of staring and letting his concern build, Virgil leans back and shuts his eyes, focusing on Roman’s warm hand in his.
Sunrise means a quick breakfast of bread and crisp apples. They share amongst themselves before Logan and Patton take down the lean-to. Janus returns to the top of the ravine, making sure to dispatch any mobs lurking in the shade of the trees. Virgil remembers the leads Patton had brought with him, for if they had come across any horses, and suggests tying Roman to one of them, just in case things go wrong on the swim up the waterfall.
Roman, ever full of bravado, insists he would be just fine on his own. Looks of concern and frustration come from his boyfriend and queerplatonic partner, respectively, and he quickly gives in without much fuss. Janus joins them again and offers to build a ladder back up, especially since there’s no short supply of wood; Logan disagrees, worried that it would take too long and they’d be caught out once more at nighttime.
Eventually, they do all get up and out of the ravine. Roman’s splint needs redoing now that it’s wet and heavy but afterwards, they are on their way home. He relies heavily on Patton and Virgil to help him, careful to not put too much weight on his injured foot; he hates needing so much help, but he supposes it’s mostly alright, what with Patton keeping him entertained with stories and Virgil teasing him about dumb little mistakes made in the past.
Slow going as as they are, they make it just as the sun is beginning to set. The lanterns are lit at the village they had set up nearby roughly a year ago and their neighbors are gathered at the bell for gossip and trade. Patton wants to swing by to say hello and offer some cake but Roman is really struggling beside him now.
“Oh, sweetpea, you must be so tired,” Patton murmurs, shifting so that he can take more pressure off of Roman. “I’m gonna get you the best dinner… And hot cocoa, too, how’s that sound?”
“We haven’t got a steady supply of cocoa beans yet,” Roman says without much conviction.
“I’ll cocoa bean anyone that tries to stop me,” Patton insists.
Virgil stifles a laugh behind his hand and pretends he didn’t hear the thinly veiled threat disguised as a pun. He makes a note to kick their search for a jungle into first gear and wonders if Janus would be up for a trip to the west. It is the least explored direction and their terribly empty maps remind them every day. In the meantime, he’ll help Patton to get Roman comfortable and settled. He makes sure Janus goes to bed that night, keeping him company until he’s well and truly deep in sleep.
After one last sweep of the perimeter, Virgil retires to his and Logan’s room. Logan is waiting up for him, reading by candlelight. Virgil changes into his night clothes and slides in under the covers. Logan is warm and, with a fond eye roll, compliant as Virgil tugs at his sleeve until he eventually puts his book away. Logan lays on his back with Virgil splayed half-across his chest; the sensation has always put Logan at ease, having his partner’s presence so physical and grounding and there.
“Will Roman be okay?” Virgil asks in a voice so small that Logan almost doesn’t hear him.
“Like Janus said, Roman has been through worse.” Logan hesitates but not long enough for either of them to actually start thinking about it. “As long as he is careful, which I’m sure Patton will help him be, he’ll recover in no time.”
The tension flows out of Virgil in one slow exhale. “Thanks, L.” He shuffles deeper into the blankets and Logan’s embrace. “Love you.”
“And I you,” Logan responds with a hum, pressing a kiss to the top of Virgil’s head.

When You Get Hurt
Child of the Nein (Mighty Nein & Child!Reader)
I'm sorry if it’s taking me so long to get my works out recently, but unfortunatly life doesn’t slow down so it can be hard to find the time to write sometimes. I’ll still do my best to work on my writing whenever I can tho, I don’t want you to think I’ve quit on y’all 😁
Jester
You could be a little clumsy sometimes getting scrapes on your arms and knees, but Jester's always there to help kiss your boo-boos better. Now getting attacked and injured when engaging in battles was an inevitable outcome and while she tries, Jester can’t always be by your side in those situations. However, thankfully you knew some of your own healing spells, just in case, and you knew how to defend yourself pretty well too. Though if you were to fall unconscious she’d use as much magic needed to make sure you were stable, before she’d call down the wrath of the Traveler himself to exact her revenge on the sorry soul who dared to hurt her sweet little trickster. Once you wake up you'd hear a joyful, and familiar squee as Jester showers you with hugs and bunny kisses, and you’re always happy to return the sentiment.
Nott
You are very nimble, squeezing yourself into spaces people wouldn’t think to look in when doing recon, often getting scrapes on your hands and knees afterwards. Nott will always check you over twice to make sure there isn’t any concerning cuts on you that may have been overlooked. When it comes to battles you prefer to stay back and watch, waiting for the right moment to strike then quickly hide again. You're also extremely hard to hit, being a smaller target and able to hide most anywhere, but that doesn't mean you’re unhitable. It doesn’t take much to knock you unconscious either, you may be small and fast but you were also weaker then everyone else. When this happens, it doesn’t matter how drunk or sober Nott is, the second you’re out her instincts kick in and she’ll go mother bear on anyone who tries to get close to you until you’re in the safe hands of one of the clerics. When you wake up, you normally find Nott at a tavern bar trying to drink away her worries, once she sees you she'll scoop you into a hug and check you over again, one can never be too sure if you’re really ok or not. After that you both might go out and snag some shiny coin or trinkets from some miserable, snobby rich people.
Caleb
You try to watch your step and be careful but even still you’ll sometimes end up getting a small cut or scrape on you, Jester or Caduceus normally help patch it up, you already knowing Caleb wouldn't do stuff like that, being so reserved. Since Caleb never taught you any attack magic you played the role of support, staying as far from the fray of battle as possible but still close enough to give someone a boost or potion if needed. Despite your best efforts enemies still sneak up on you, wanting to take down any support the group has in hopes of gaining the upper hand. Caleb goes into a panic mode once he sees you’ve fallen unconscious, breathing becoming heavy and freezing on the spot, then like a flip of the switch he’s using any spell he can to take out the enemy and get you to safety. The first thing you’ll notice when you wake is the slight pressure on your chest where Frumpkin is laying, he'll then get off you and wait for you to follow him to where Caleb is distracting himself in a book. It may take awhile to gain his attention back, but when you do he puts the book down and places his hands on your shoulders asking if you’re ok. You'd then spend the rest of the day with him reading to you, a smile on your face knowing that while he won’t always show it publicly he still cared a lot about you.
Caduceus
You could easily treat to or heal your own wounds with some bandages or spells, but it was still nice to have Caduceus treat to them for you. In battles you have a tendency to help others before yourself, but when the situation demands it you knew how to defend yourself pretty well. Of course there are times when the enemy overwhelms you where you can’t defend yourself and fall unconscious. Upon seeing this Caduceus will waste no time warding off the enemy and getting you away from the fight, treating any concerning wounds first before focusing on the others. When you open your eyes again he’ll be there with a nice cup of tea ready at your bedside, but not before some well needed cuddles and forehead kisses, thankful that the Wildmother granted you a quick recovery.
Fjord
An adventurous soul is one that can get into a lot of trouble if your not careful but you’re used to getting little cuts and scrapes, brushing them off like they’re nothing. Fjord knew it could be tough growing up in an orphanage, but that didn’t mean he always liked the mindset it left you with. You’re no stranger to fighting either, making you think up a strategy and execute it with decent results, not every plan is perfect after all. Sometimes your little strategies backfire and can give the enemy and advantage against you, causing serious damage to you or you falling unconscious. This will put an unseen target on the attacker by a very pissed off half-orc, not knowing what they’re dealing with until they’ve been hit by 2 consecutive Eldritch Blasts. When you wake again at first you’re a little disoriented, not knowing how your suddenly in some inn bed. You’ll normally find Fjord sitting in a chair having nodded off, so naturally you get up and poke him until he wakes. When he sees you he’s filled with relief that your alright, then laughs as you playfully continue to poke him until he makes you stop.
Beau
Beau’s not very good at the whole emotions thing so normally when you get hurt she’d tell you to walk it off and come back stronger, easy enough for you. Beau doesn’t worry too much about you knowing you’re good in a fight, using the skills she taught you to the best of your ability. However, if you were say… knocked unconscious, then she's throwing hands at the one stupid enough to do so, beating them to a bloody pulp and getting one of the clerics to heal you before worrying about her. When your back on your feet again your sure to hear her boast all about how she beat the ever living hell out of the one who caused you to fall unconscious in the first place. To you it’s just nice to know that Beau secretly does really care about you, even if she doesn’t say it outright.
Yasha
Getting hurt never felt like a big deal to you, after all you were a mini tank getting close and personal with the enemy many a times. It’s not easy to take you down, especially with the rest of the group to back you up. You weren’t always with the group though, you and Yasha going off on your own for one reason or another, this is where you could run into trouble. You may be small but you were tough, that doesn’t mean you can’t get overwhelmed though leading to the possibility of you falling unconscious. On the rare times this happens, Yasha will sprout her bony wings, hair and eyes turning black as she cuts down the few enemies that remain before gently taking you into her arms and using Healing Hands, praying it’s enough to keep you stable. When you manage to open your eyes you’ll see Yasha lost in thought, adjusting yourself to sit up from the ground will pull her away from her thoughts as she pulls you into a hug. You can feel her body shake as she apologizes for letting this happen, you know she’s lost a lot, you both have, so you assure her that you’re ok and that it’ll take much more to keep you down.
Molly
You’ve lived a harder life then you’d openly admit to many, and being in a circus for 2 years of course you’d get some scrapes and cuts from doing tricks, nothing you can’t easily laugh off though. When it comes to combat you’re a lover not a fighter, leaving the action for everyone else, only stealing the spotlight when absolutely necessary. Now if anyone dares to make you fall unconscious, you can bet their gonna have an ice covered blade through their chest the next moment, the last thing they’d see being two ruby eyes bearing into their soul. When you wake up you'll see Molly casually playing with his tarot cards before he looks over at you, having noticed your movements. At first he’ll simply place a hand on your shoulder saying that he knew you were in good hands and would be alright. After looking over his shoulder to check that no one else was present however, his grip tightens a little and your suddenly pulled into a hug, you know he’s not really familiar with being attached to people so you say nothing and just return the gesture.

Anders + a touch with an apology?
Absolutely! Here’s some Anders and Merrill friendship for @dadrunkwriting!
He was being an ass. He knew he was being an ass the moment he opened his mouth but he just couldn’t seem to stop himself. No, that wasn’t quite right, Anders corrected himself as he navigated the narrow streets towards the Alienage. He was being an ass and didn’t want to stop, because he was angry and bitter and thought that snapping at Merrill would make him feel better.
It didn’t. It made everything worse. So Anders packed up a basket with some spare supplies- bandages, potions, a book he remembered Merrill looking at- and he made his way to the Alienage and Merrill’s house.
“Oh. Anders. This is, ah, a surprise,” Merrill said cautiously when she opened her door and saw him. Anders shrugged and held the basket up to her.
“Sorry. I was angry and short with you, which- you hadn’t done anything wrong,” Anders mumbled. “So here. And if there’s anyone in the Alienage who needs healing, I can... well, I can help. If they want it. Need it. Sorry.”
Merrill was cautiously poking through the basket, as if she expected a snake to be lying in wait under all the items he stuffed in there. Anders winced, guilt flaring sharp and hot under his skin. His fault, really. He snapped at her, told her that he didn’t have time to answer her questions and he wasn’t going to take advice from a blood mage- and he had promised Hawke he’d try to get along with all of their companions. He promised, and then turned around and snapped at Merrill immediately afterward.
“Oh! Are these...?” she asked.
“I transcribed some notes of mine from when I was a Warden,” Anders replied, and when he reached into the basket his fingers brushed against Merrill’s hand. “I... that was what you were looking at. It’s pretty boring, lots of information on healing and some Darkspawn sketches. None of them are good, Na- one of my fellow Wardens was the better artist between all of us, but still...”
“Thanks, Anders. It’s... that’s thoughtful of you,” Merrill said, and she gently placed her hand on his shoulder. “Would you like some tea? Or water? I haven’t got much else at the moment, but I’d love to have you over. As a guest.”
“That would be nice,” Anders replied, and he awkwardly placed his hand on Merrill’s and squeezed it. “Sorry for being an ass, Merrill.”
“I accept your apology, Anders,” Merrill replied as she stepped away and reached for her tea kettle on her shelf. “Now, tell me about that sketch in the corner. Did your cat really have a little hat?”

remus lupin finally snaps
CW: some bad language
---
It was cold, and his bones were stiff. When he walked up the stairs to the dormitories it was a slow and painful experience that wasn’t helped by his mood. Every time he stumbled or took too long to take a step up Remus Lupin grumbled. He was not in the mood to deal with his lycanthropy tonight, and why the fuck couldn’t he manage a flight of stairs for Godric’s sake? It had been two whole days since the night of the full moon, a particularly bad one judging from his aches, but nonetheless he didn’t see why he couldn’t manage the stairs. He had been in bed for the entirety of those days and taken every unnecessary potion Pomfrey shoved in his face. So why was he still in pain?
By the time he reached the door to the marauder’s dorm he was thoroughly pissed, and in the mood for a fight. He knew that someone behind that door would most likely oblige him if he only prodded enough, and so, using the last of his energy he kicked the door open dramatically and stalked inside.
Three heads turned to him briefly, noted his expression, and then promptly turned to face each other once again. Remus could practically smell their confusion, it almost made him laugh. He sat on his bed and shut the curtains violently, laying down and stretching his entire body out.
And then he waited.
He knew it was only a matter of time before one of them tentatively peeked through the curtains and tried to ask him what was wrong. If he wasn’t in such a bad headspace he would recognize how nice that was of them, and that really, he had some damn good friends. But now, he thought it annoying, and an invasion of his privacy. He prepared to shout at whoever opened the curtains just that point.
Anxious whispering could be heard from James’ bed, which Remus rolled his eyes at. God they were so fucking nosy. A few minutes passed and the voices rose to a crescendo, though Remus couldn’t make out any individual words. He heard the dorm room door open and swiftly close, but the presence of one person remained, Remus could smell him.
A few seconds of tense silence lapsed between the two boys. One who was nervous and had clearly been left with the job of talking to Lupin, the other waiting for him to do so, and ready to rip him to shreds no matter what he said.
Not the healthiest of arrangements really.
If Remus was to take a guess at who was behind the curtain he would probably say Peter. If it was James then he wouldn’t have hesitated this long, and he probably would have been the one to start the fight, telling him unless something very wrong had happened he was being a dramatic prick. If it was Sirius he would also not have hesitated, and probably would have just hopped right in and started fighting with him.
Plus there was the added fact that if James and Sirius both didn’t want to talk to Remus there was nothing stopping them, and Peter would be left to sort the mess out almost one hundred percent of the time.
It was because of these assumptions that Remus forgot about his anger for a moment when he saw Sirius of all people peer through the gap in the curtains.
Why had he hesitated?
When Remus didn’t immediately bite Sirius pulled back the curtains more and sat across from him.
He attempted casualty at first. “Alright mate?”
“Yes everything’s peachy.” Remus snapped.
Sirius didn’t immediately respond, which Remus found to be strange. Normally he would have an almost instantaneous retort and then the fight would begin. Why was he being so cautious?
“Did something happen or are you just grumpy from the moon?” He pressed, resting his chin in his hands as he watched his friend.
“‘Just grumpy from the moon’?” Remus growled. “Have you ever transformed into a fucking monster and lost your mind for hours on end and then been in horrible pain for days afterwards?”
He was shouting already, but Sirius seemed unfazed. He actually chuckled at this. “Yeah fair point I guess.”
Remus felt like he could turn into the wolf again he was so pissed off. He wanted to reach forward and throttle Sirius but at the same time he looked so beautiful in the soft lamplight of their room that an equally strong desire to just kiss him overcame him too, and it made him angrier while also making it hard to stay angry.
“Why can’t you take this seriously?” He snapped. “And don’t you fucking dare say you are Sirius or I swear to Godric-”
Sirius laughed. “I actually wasn’t going to say that but now you’ve done it for me. Nice one!”
Then he had the audacity to reach for a high-five. Remus glared at him and he promptly lowered his hand. “Wow your knickers really are in a twist tonight.”
“My knickers are perfectly fine thank you very much! And stop changing the subject.”
“What?” Sirius smirked. “Trying to stay angry are you? Looks like you’re struggling. What are you even mad about?”
“I’m mad that I’m a fucking werewolf and that I’ll probably die young because of it and that my life won’t even be fulfilling in the meantime because everyone will be unable to see past what I am!”
Sirius opened his mouth to speak but Remus wasn’t finished.
“And it hurts EVERYWHERE and I’m sick to death of you!”
Sirius blinked at him. “Me?”
Remus didn’t know why he added that last bit, but he knew for sure he was now bordering on dangerous territory. If he wasn’t careful he might just let his feelings for Sirius slip and he would finally have something legitimate to complain about.
But he couldn’t deny that the fight was already making him feel better, and he was still angry enough that any common sense was long gone. He tightened a fist around the bedsheets they sat on and stared Sirius dead on.
His voice grew dangerously quiet. “Yeah. You.”
“What did I do?” Sirius matched his tone. Any trace of laughter was gone and he finally looked concerned.
“Godric you still haven’t fucking noticed have you? You’re so blind and oblivious it actually hurts. Do you have any idea how infuriating you are?”
Sirius clearly still had no clue what he was saying, though he looked almost scared to admit it. “Very?”
Remus threw his pillow at the boy, who swiftly caught it and returned it to its place on the bed without breaking eye contact.
“You know what? I thought you might have finally caught on this year but you’re still prancing around like nothing’s changed. It’s been four years, Sirius how ignorant are you?”
“Four years since what Remus? Clearly I have no idea what you’re talking about so just tell me!” Sirius said, finally losing his patience with the werewolf.
But Remus wasn’t listening, he was on a roll and he didn’t feel like stopping anymore. Any punishment that ensued would be worth it because he was finally voicing the anger that had been building up for years.
“I couldn’t have made it more obvious if I tried! Honestly I drop at least a hundred hints a day, you haven’t seen me with anyone literally ever, despite the fact that I’ve been asked out numerous times.”
Sirius was speechless.
“But worst of all is that you just haven’t noticed. If James was in my place you would have figured it out the day it all began but with me you just didn’t see. Like it made sense for me to be acting weird around you all of a sudden and flinch at your touch and blush at your gaze. And then when I gained enough confidence to attempt flirting with you for fucks sake you still didn’t notice. ‘That’s just my Moony, best friend, telling me I look beautiful this morning and stumbling over his words.’ I thought that even if you didn’t feel the same way you might have the decency to pull me aside and tell me rather than letting me flounder in my love for you but as time went by I started to realize that the problem wasn’t your lack of reciprocation but rather your complete and utter obliviousness. Even now I bet you still haven’t fucking realized it have you?”
He was finally done, and rather than the soul sucking fear he anticipated he might feel when he finally told Sirius his deepest secret he felt relief. It was over. No matter how he responded now at least there were no more secrets between them. Sirius was staring at him with a look that even Remus couldn’t decipher. There was either a complete lack of emotion behind his eyes or there was too much going on that they looked utterly glazed over.
And then Sirius spoke.
“What?”
He was shaking his head in confusion and Remus felt like screaming again. What did he mean ‘what’? Did he need more fucking clarification? What else could he do to make it clear?
Before he even finished thinking that he knew, and he decided to do something very stupid indeed.
Without thinking about the consequences Remus suddenly lunged forward, ignoring the stabbing pain in his body, and grabbed Sirius’ face, pulling it towards his own. Their lips crashed together forcefully and all of a sudden nothing else mattered. Remus’ anger disappeared, replaced by nothing short of joy when he felt Sirius kiss him back, fisting his shirt and pulling him desperately closer to him.
Remus chanced a brush of Sirius’ hair, tentatively reaching up to run his hands through the messy waves, and heard a tiny hum of pleasure from the boy in response. He smiled into the kiss and deepened it, and he faintly realized that he should be in pain right now from crouching so awkwardly in front of Sirius, but in fact he was far from pain. Holding Sirius in his arms and having him hold him back was better than any healing potion Pomfrey had ever given him. It was addicting, he was getting high off its effects.
All too soon they broke apart for air, both panting slightly but grinning nonetheless.
“Is that clear enough for you?” Remus raised an eyebrow.
And Sirius actually blushed, looking almost apologetic for not realizing until now. “Clear as day.”

Read Part 1.1 here! All Parts can be found on the Masterlist!
______________________________
The end of Robin's first year at Hogwarts had come sooner than expected. She had done fairly well in all of her exams, even defense against the dark arts, despite her previous concerns. After the incident in March, Professor Morgan actually had as good as ignored her for the remainder of the school year, and merely given her grades slightly worse than she believed she deserved. Nothing out of the ordinary, and the same could be said for the other subjects. She had made efforts however, since that night, to become better in charms, and it had paid off in terms of both grades and knowledge. It still hadn't sufficed to beat herbology, leave alone potions, but she felt comfortable with more spells than she had learned in class, and that ought to be enough.
Thus, when summer had finally forced Robin to return home to her parents' house, she had actually felt content with her overall progress of the past year, but also desperately ready for a break in all the learning.
That sentiment however had lasted for a mere week, and without the possibility to borrow books from her favorite potions professor, Robin soon had found the necessity to find other methods to keep herself busy, and distract herself from missing school. Those methods mainly had entailed sitting in on summer classes at the university her parents worked for, and while a twelve year old wasn't really the intended audience for any of those classes, Robin had been surprised to find that she actually had understood quite a lot of the entry level subjects. Thus her summer had been filled with classes on history, cultural studies and art –which had turned out to be more about architecture than about art after all– and she had learned a lot while yet being systematically excluded from everything not class related by both the regular students and the professors. Her parents hadn't been any better, as they had been working day in day out as always, ignoring her as always, saying "that's nice, sweetie" as always.
Only upon her return to Hogwarts for the beginning of her second year, Robin had actually felt like she belonged once more. Both the castle and the landscape gave her a feeling of finally being able to breathe again, after a long time of existing in a room with too little air. Sure, seeing her parents had been nice to some degree, but only at Hogwarts did she actually feel like a person of value again. At her parents house, she was an asset in a game that wasn't hers to play. At Hogwarts however she was Robin, and the master of her own fate. Even if to the others she was still the muggle born Slytherin who spent more time with her books than with her peers.
And just like that, she happily threw herself back into her classes and assignments, picking things right back up where she had left off last term.
The members of her study group started talking about their O.W.L.s and about fairly little else quite early on, and Robin soon found herself annoyed by them more than she appreciated their company. Thus she started to spend more and more time studying by herself instead, and eventually also eating by herself as well. Unlike last year, she actually didn't mind not having a permanent group, or anything that came even close to friendships. There was always someone she could sit with, should she choose to do so in the first place, even if that someone was only a brief acquaintance from one of her classes.
Her habit of borrowing books from Professor Snape had to her great luck survived the summer, and right after the first class of the term he had dropped a thick tome about preserving and properly storing different kinds of ingredients on her desk. Not the most interesting read, admittedly, but she would gladly take anything she got. It was still better than those books in the library that all basically said the same thing with different words. She found herself wondering more than once if perhaps they had all been writing by the same person, under different synonyms.
Thus for the following weeks in potions class, whenever they weren't actively brewing anything in particular, Robin would read in that book instead of listening to a lecture about some thing she'd known for half a year already, and to her surprise Professor Snape hadn't complained nor given her an odd look for it even once. Robin soon had realized that they might just have come to the silent agreement that she would learn more if she stuck to her books for now. Well, his books, but nobody needed to know about that. It was an unspoken agreement between them to keep this arrangement to themselves, as well as the quite good terms on which they were with each other at this point. Well, 'good' in Snape's terms at least, which meant that he mostly just let her be for the duration of class and she asked any questions she might have about her reads afterwards.
Eventually this habit, and this particular book especially, had led Robin to discover what she would put into the locket she had been wearing ever since the previous Christmas: a branch of dried dittany. Admittedly, fitting an entire branch into a locket of less than the size of her palm might have posed a problem, had Robin not done her research properly and come across a spell that allowed her to expand the space within the locket to a much greater size than the outside would let on. A simply extending charm, really, but very useful as she found. That only had left one issue remaining, and after having a frank conversation with Professor Sprout (whose favor Robin had gained last year by being the only Slytherin student who actually cared about herbology), Robin had been indeed allowed to take a branch of dittany from the greenhouse. In the week following upon that, she had carefully followed the instructions in the borrowed book and dried the plant while (hopefully) preserving all its qualities, therefore turning her nightstand into the best improvised laboratory she could manage.
At the end of her efforts, she'd actually been quite proud of the outcome, and that is exactly why she had kept the whole endeavour to herself and simply had gone back to wearing the locket every day like she used to, only that now it hid one of the finest healing plants the country had to offer. She'd have to see if she could get her hands on dried mandrake too, at some point. But for now, the dittany would do.
______________
The peace and quiet of her life at Hogwarts lasted for exactly two and a half months after term had started, right up to the point when Professor Morgan decided that it was time to mess with Robin once again. Honestly, while she hadn't really seen it coming this time either, she had indeed known that he eventually would start causing her problems again. And it just happened to be a lot sooner than she expected.
"Miss Mitchell!" His exaggeratedly cheerful voice brought Robin to an immediate halt, and an immediate spark of panic to her heart. It was Saturday night this time around, but yet again right after dinner and in the emptiest and dark hallway Hogwarts had to offer outside of the dungeons. Robin was spotting a scheme here.
"Professor Morgan…" Robin half sighed and half stated as she turned around to face the man in question. After over a year of having to listen to way too many girls fawning over him, she still couldn't understand how anyone could seriously and in good conscience consider this sleazy individual handsome.
"What a strange déjà vu to be having… Feels like it was ages ago that you messed up my classroom." He smiled innocently and shook his head to himself.
"Funny, to me it seems like just yesterday." Robin replied with the most neutral face she could manage.
"Ah, you and your… witty… remarks, how I have -not- missed those over the summer…" He sighed and raised his chin for a moment, peering down at her over the bottom rim of his reading glasses, which he wore only whenever he wanted to look particularly authoritative. Or that's what Robin thought, at least.
"What is it you would like from me this time, sir?" She asked as calmly as possible, while her hands were getting clammy again nonetheless and she had to resist the urge to wipe them on her trousers. That would've been a dead tell of her anxiety, and she didn't want him to see any of it at all.
"You will assist me in class on Monday. I will be demonstrating a spell that seeks out the other's deepest truths. Much like that famous potion, actually, what's it called again…"
"Veritaserum?" Robin suggested with a frown, keeping her face otherwise neutral while her anxiety went through the roof. He seriously wanted to force her to speak whatever truth in front of the entire class by using magic?! Was that even allowed?
"Exactly! However what I intend to show to the class is called legilimency."
"Never heard of it…"
"That is because it is not commonly taught at this institution."
At that, Robin's heart started beating even faster in nervousness. "But… then why would you teach it to us now, sir? And- and why do you need to demonstrate it on me, out of all people?"
Professor Morgan let out a small snort in return. "I'm not teaching it to you, don't be ridiculous… I'm merely using it to demonstrate something. And I chose you to demonstrate it on, because you are an obvious choice. You were so very intent on your honesty and truthfulness last year that I see no reason as for why it should bother you to speak the truth yet again."
"What if I don't want to assist you?" Robin asked quietly, with a lump in her throat that simply refused to be swallowed down, and her only hope was that the darkness of the hallway hid the fear in her eyes at least.
"Well, I would absolutely hate to force you to do it, Miss Mitchell, but I'm afraid you have no choice." He smiled sweetly, with just a touch of feigned sympathy. "Don't worry, it will be over in a blink."
"But-"
"You see, I told you about this beforehand because I came to realize that troublesome young children such as yourself need a role model for their actions, if we ever want something to become of them." He said with another self sufficient sigh, looking around the hallway as if dwelling in the righteousness of his own statement. "I believe one day in the very distant future you will thank me for every lesson I teach you now. So consider yourself lucky that I allow you to participate in this… lesson."
"Yes, sir." Robin gave back in a neutral tone, while her insides however were both on fire and frozen over at the same time. This was Morgan's late revenge for what had happened last term, it had to be… He'd waited until she felt safe, only to strike now. Petty move, honestly… and still Robin felt sick to the stomach.
"Very well!" Morgan was back to cheery. "I will see you in class on Monday. Have a lovely rest of the weekend." Without wasting another glance on her, he turned on his heel, clasped his hands behind his back nonchalantly and walked off into the direction of his classroom.
Robin however remained standing in her spot for a little while longer, heart beating frantically while a cold rush of adrenaline washed over her body in the most uncomfortable manner. Bloody hell, that man scared her more every time she had to interact with him, and it had only gotten exponentially worse since the detention incident. Tears started stinging in her eyes upon the mere thought of going to class on Monday, but she obviously didn't have much of a choice. Even if she found a reason to avoid class on Monday, he would just come at her with the same threat the next class or the one after that, and she couldn't avoid defense against the dark arts classes for the next five years to come. She also didn't want to, she actually liked the subject. It was only Morgan that she despised.
As the adrenaline slowly decreased and made room for rational thoughts once more, Robin also rediscovered her ability to move. Without even having to think about it, her feet carried her down to the dungeons and right to Professor Snape's office. Yet once she was about to knock on his door, her fist stilled mid-air as she finally paused to think. This wasn't a good idea… well, sure, he had told her to find him if she ran into any problems with Professor Morgan, but then again… she really didn't want a repetition of last time. More so for his sake than for her own. Also, she couldn't just come bursting into his office like the frightened idiot she was, hoping to be shown an easy way out of this the very second she asked for it. No, if she was to drag him into this again (and that was a big IF still) she better come to him with a plan already at hand.
Robin pulled her hand back and dropped it to her side with a sigh, then walked backwards until her back gently touched the cold wall on the opposite side of the hallway. What on earth was she even doing… She was a second year student, and Professor Morgan was… well, a professor. A bloody bad one, to her luck, but still… what kind of chance did she stand against him? Especially in regards to a spell that she hadn't even heard about, leave alone knew how to read up on if it wasn't something she was even supposed to learn about in the first place. She wasn't brave enough to go into the restricted section of the library, and the open one only had books appropriate for standard school topics. She couldn't refuse to partake, couldn't use any sort of shielding spell against him… Hell, if he'd just give her good old veritaserum, at least she would know what she was in for. There even were antidotes for that stuff! Actually… Morgan had said that the spell was rather similar to veritaserum. Robin crossed her arms over her chest and started pacing up and down the hallway, passing by the door again and again on each way.
Maybe… maybe she could make the antidote to veritaserum, and take it before class on Monday. Did that help against legi… what was it again? Gosh, she really couldn't concentrate whenever her anxiety got the better of her. And remembering technical terms wasn't all that high on her list of priorities when she was fighting with blind panic on the inside and not showing any of it on the outside. It was an unfair battle, really…
Antidote. Yes. It could work, it had to… it was the best plan she had. Again she walked by the office door, and right past it towards the end of the hallway yet again. How was she supposed to get the recipe for that antidote though? Or the necessary ingredients?! Making veritaserum itself was a rather advanced procedure, and even if Robin was far ahead of her class, she wasn't that good, not even close. The antidote would require even more precision and knowledge. Robin turned around once she reached the end of the hallway, and headed back into the opposite direction. She couldn't do it alone, couldn't do it at all maybe. But she also couldn't just sit by and do nothing while Professor Morgan would make her blurt out every secret she has ever had in class on Monday. Bloody hell…
"Will you stop pacing and come in already?" Snape's deep voice brought both Robin and her thoughts to a sudden halt. She froze in her step and finally lifted her gaze off the floor to see him standing in the doorway a mere two steps to her right, giving her that trademark pretending-to-be-annoyed frown.
Heat rose to Robin's face immediately, and she felt both embarrassed and relieved as he turned to the side to make room for her to enter.
"I'm sorry, sir, I just… I didn't want to bother you." Robin finally remembered to speak, as she sat down in the by now familiar chair across from his own.
"Now that you did, you might as well tell me the reason for it." He replied calmly as he took his own seat with an expectant expression. Robin held his gaze for a moment, then let her eyes wander around the room like she always did, until something caught her sight.
"The small jar with the green liquid in the third shelf from the bottom, second from the right… it stood on the second shelf from the bottom, last time I was here." She said quietly, before she could really convince herself not to. It was a stupid observation, without any meaning probably, but saying this was easier than answering his question.
Professor Snape's frown deepened as he followed Robin's line of sight, before it vanished and his eyebrows rose up high as ever. "It would indeed appear that it was… misplaced."
"Now or then?"
"Why are you here, Miss Mitchell?"
Robin looked down at her hands, as they were nervously fiddling with the edge of her grey jumper on their own accord. Darn it… she didn't even have any real reason to keep secrets from him anymore. He'd seen her cry, seen her desperate and seen her being a complete dunderhead. Snape was probably the only person in Hogwarts she had ever been entirely honest with in the first place, and when she thought about it, she had no intention to change that now.
With a still fragile certainty, she looked up to meet his eye again. "I'm here because I need the instructions for a potion."
His eyebrows lifted even higher, and he almost looked amused once again, but seeing as Robin herself didn't smile even remotely, the brief expression vanished in a blink. "Which potion?"
"The antidote for veritaserum."
"Why, pray tell, do you believe I would simply give it to you?"
"I do not."
"Then why are you here?"
"Because I had to try nonetheless." There was no insecurity in her voice, which surprised her a little, but it didn't come unappreciated. This was a serious matter to her, and he might as well know that. At least he hadn't straight up denied her request and thrown her out of the office already.
Instead his eyes narrowed and he sat up a little straighter as he seemed to grasp the gravity the issue held for Robin. "Why do you need that antidote so desperately that you risk asking for it so boldly?"
"Self-preservation." As he merely gave her a look in return, she added, "I was asked to assist in a class on Monday."
"And that justifies your request because…?"
"It's Professor Morgan's class." Robin's voice went down in volume by more than she intended, but she couldn't care less because Snape's face showed an immediate expression of understanding, then question, and irritation at last.
"I see. What did he say to you, exactly?" He asked a bit too darkly for it to be nonchalant or even neutral, and Robin felt an odd sense of relief to see him still disliking the defense against the dark arts professor as much as she did. She only could've hoped that he had not changed his mind since March, and obviously he hadn't. So far so good.
"He said he wants to demonstrate a spell on me that reveals my deepest truths, and that the spell reminded him of veritaserum. Well, actually, I suggested veritaserum as a comparison because he couldn't remember the name." Robin shrugged and Professor Snape rolled his eyes theatrically, but Robin got the impression that it wasn't directed at her as much as at Morgan.
"Did he say which spell?"
"He did, but…" Robin bit her bottom lip for a second, reminding herself that he had indeed seen her panic before and there was no reason to not tell him about another instance now. "He did say which spell, however I… was too busy not dying over anxiety to pick it up and remember what it's called exactly." The annoyance she had expected to see on his face didn't come, which pushed her to continue on. "But I remember that it's something that's not taught at Hogwarts. He doesn't want us to learn it, just… just demonstrate it himself for some reason. I believe it started with an I or an L… I'm sorry, sir, I honestly don't remember. I should have though, I know…"
Oddly enough, Snape's reaction still was none of annoyance, but he rather stared right past Robin, lost in thought. Had her information not been completely useless after all? Anyway, she almost felt calm now that she had opened up to him about the situation. At least she wasn't alone with it anymore; someone knew of her concerns and actually took them seriously. That was a huge step towards getting out of this entire thing relatively unharmed. Her heartbeat slowed down significantly, and she didn't feel sick anymore. Good… Now, that other jar also had-
"Miss Mitchell?"
"Huh?" Her eyes snapped back to her professor and her cheeks gained in colour once again. She really needed to stop zoning out whenever she was in his office… Snape however kindly ignored her flustering and went right on as if nothing had happened in the first place.
"Was what Professor Morgan mentioned by any chance titled 'legilimency'?"
"Yes!" She blurted right out, eyes widening a little in surprise that he had actually been able to make any use of her poor information. "Exactly that!" The look she received in return however made her wish she hadn't answered all that enthusiastically, as it sent a chill down her spine in an instant.
"Are you absolutely certain?"
"Yes, yes I am… Why? What kind of spell is that, professor? Why are you asking like that?" She asked in an almost insecure manner now, but didn't receive an answer as he got up and went to retrieve a book from one of the shelves in the far corner of the room. After flipping through the pages for a moment, he turned the open book around and handed it to Robin before moving to sit back down in his chair in silence.
Robin scanned the page to get the overall gist of it, and her eyes widened in sheer horror at every word she read. At last she placed the book on the desk between them and simply stared at Professor Snape in both shock and fear. Morgan wanted… and he really was forcing her to… no!
"That is why I'm asking like that." Snape sounded almost as displeased as Robin felt, even if he had no reason to in her eyes. She was glad that he shared the sentiment nonetheless.
"Can't… Is that… Is that even allowed?" Robin's voice was but a whisper, a plea almost to whoever would hear, to at least make this wrong.
"The use of veritaserum on students has… unfortunately been prohibited, however I'm not aware of any such rules regarding legilimency. As it seems, the ministry has as of yet turned a blind eye to it."
"And… and the headmaster?"
"Will hardly see a fault in a mere demonstration of the subject. He has always been quite… liberal."
Robin's face fell even more, and she stared down at the words on the page in front of her as they began swimming together slowly. Then however she frowned at a different issue. "Professor… It may be completely stupid of me to say, but… this spell does not sound like anything I know about veritaserum. I mean, sure, it both reveals the truth in a way, but if I understand correctly, this… is more than just a means to finding out the truth. It's a hellfire being compared to a match. Which leads me to believe that –and I do apologize for being so direct about this– Professor Morgan either has no idea about this spell, even though it falls into his supposed area of expertise, or he doesn't know a thing about even the most basic basics of potions."
"I'm led to believe that he isn't proficient in either." A small pause, and Robin managed a half smile at his fairly direct insult before he continued speaking. "And you are right, Miss Mitchell, legilimency has fairly little to do with veritaserum, or more precisely, nothing at all. Which is why I will not give you the instructions for the antidote."
While his words definitely made sense, Robin also felt her heart sinking and squeezing together painfully. It had been her only chance… or had it? Another idea sprung to her mind suddenly, and even though she knew that it was extremely inappropriate and straight out wrong, it was an idea born from desperation. "What if I poison him?"
Snape's expression did show a small but honest reaction upon her words, a mixture of astonishment and a hint of being impressed, but more words fell off Robin's lips before he could shut her up. "Maybe draught of living death, so that he doesn't show up to class until I graduate, or forgetfulness potion to make him forget that he ever asked me to do this, forced me to do this even, or a hate potion so he shows his TRUE self in front of the entire school, or-"
"That's quite enough, Miss Mitchell." He interrupted her with a scolding tone, and Robin sobered from her rant in but a second. Oh no… had she really just said all of that? Out loud?? To Professor Snape??? As he continued, his voice took on a more neutral tone again, but his eyes conveyed the same graveness nonetheless. "I'm giving five points to Slytherin, for your remarkable knowledge of admittedly rather suitable positions for the occasion. And I am giving you detention, for suggesting to poison a teacher."
"What?!"
"Come to my office first thing after breakfast tomorrow morning. You will be here the entire day, so don't expect to be indulging in any other… activities tomorrow."
"Tomorrow is Sunday." Robin frowned at him, and felt a little betrayed after all. She had a serious problem at hand and he was giving her detention?! However justified it was, for her impulsive blurt of a desperation born thoughts, she had hoped for a little more understanding at least. Also, there was no detention on Sundays. Usually.
"I'm well aware." He replied to her surprise, giving her another of those looks that said more than his words did. Only that this time Robin had no idea what exactly it was that it said. But she didn't question him, as much as she wanted to, for he wouldn't give a reply anyway. When Professor Snape demanded something to be done, it would be. That's just how things were, and Robin found herself admiring him for it even. He wore an armor of dangerous intensity for his daily robes, and it suited him better than anyone else.
"I'll be here, sir." She finally replied in a quiet voice, and her eyes went back to the book on the desk. Would he at least let her borrow it until Monday, so that she could prepare for what was coming her way?
As if he was reading her mind now indeed, he gave an answer to her internal question. "The book won't help you, Miss Mitchell, nor will any potion. I suggest you spend the night resting instead of pondering over either option."
"How did you know I would?" Robin asked with a half amused and half embarrassed huff. Did he actually read her mind? He probably did, and yet she had the sudden feeling that detention with Professor Snape wouldn't be all that horrible. Not for her, at least.
"Because I would. Given your point of view on this issue, it is the most sensible thing to do." He replied with a risen eyebrow and a pointed look. "However from my point of view, I strongly advise you to rest. You will fare better with energy rather than pointless knowledge in tomorrow's… detention."
Robin frowned at his cryptic statement, but he seemed rather unwilling to say any more on the issue and thus Robin took a deep breath before she went to reply in his trademark neutrality. "Very well. No books for me tonight, I'm going straight to bed. Would that be all, sir?"
"Careful, Mitchell. You wouldn't want to risk detention over your wit."
"I thought I already have detention, sir."
"Get. Out." He drawled in a low tone, and yet the not-smirk tugging on his lips didn't escape Robin's notice as she rose to her feet and walked to the door.
Somehow she felt better than she knew she should in the light of getting detention, leave alone what would be happening on Monday. But here she was, having to hide her smirk as she turned around to Snape once again. "Goodnight, professor. I'll be on time."
"You better be." He mused with another gaze louder than words. "Tomorrow."
As Robin closed the door behind herself and stepped into the dark hallway, turning into the direction of her dormitory, she allowed a small smile to grace her lips at last. Things still weren't exactly working out in her favor, but after talking to the quite possibly darkest person she had ever known, the world seemed an odd lot brighter nonetheless.

Ooo alright ! (Sorry this gets kinda long, I rambled a bit and I wrote this p early-)
i loved all the characters they all just, *pop* in their own ways and thay makes them all too loveable to pick just one-
I loved Nord and Atlas' relationship and their interactions, it was really adorable (and i knew right off the bat they were dating so that was a really funny moment of 'aha!' for me)
and the second time you interact with them and the trolls story? I really enjoyed that, i liked the drama and the tiny details like depending on what you did affecting how well you can heal afterwards !
also the communication and the development with Nord is just ! so good !!
I really related to him a bit so seeing him finally stand up for himself at the end was just so nice to see :)
And Atlas is just, him ! He's very friendly and strong, giving off a protective and safe vibe that I really enjoyed :)
i don't have the words to describe him but definitely love him as well !
Moth is the fun one because at first, I didn't like him (which is funny since i adored his personality at the same time-)
I don't know exactly what id was, maybe his overall sass, or his dramatics but eventually I warmed up to him along the way
Then I played his route and and *whoa*. If I hadn't come to like him before, I did then!
The adventure was and the clues were already amazing, then the vibes you get when somethings wrong (and it was) and then the house sinking ? it was all amazing, and by the end of it with him giving us a pen, i had to put my phone down for a second-
and then the end end with the date night (which i love the detail that he's the only one that says no unless you interact with him, that was very cool!) where he talks about putting on a mask and being vulnerable, was just !!
Blossom was one of my favorites, but again I can't express why-
She's just a strong and independent POC! And she takes care of animals and she can knit 🥺 (which is one of my favorite hobbies)
Aleth holds a spot right beside Blossom too as a fellow Enby :)!
Also they're route just made me soft in general, especially at the end with the truth potion (and at the beginning with the miscommunication with Kaileen and Aleth) they just have my whole heart
And them and their family meeting up was just a little detail but it was so adorable!
as well as them not letting their curse change how they live their life, learning to express things without words ! just, them ❤
Kaileen was a Major Favorite though, since I probably related to her the most on the outside
She's hyper, loves to ramble on things she loves, snd is a plant lover ! (though i can't grow plants to save my life-)
I just love her in general, from her design to her personality, to how she interacts,
She's just, so cool ! And i personally strive to look as snazzy as she does one day as a bonus !
I know I've talked alot here but theres alot more about the game i liked such as
-The Ghost Hunt Scene (Love the mythology input, i was so excited when i guessed thats what it was!)
-The End Credits (Including the No Date one, that was so adorable!)
-The King after the Trolls thing (Really left me in suspense, though I think we all know what happened-)
-The Campfire Story changing based on the events (which is something that is expected i think but its still really cool !)
-MC dabbing during the dance and the memes throughout the game (just, yes)
and way more !
Sorry for the big big ramble but yeah ! I really love this game and I can't express how happy I am that I got to play it :D !!
Awwww THANK YOU for the big ramble!! This makes me so happy TuT
What's funny is that many of these observations match my own experience while writing. Nord and Atlas were characters that have been with me for ten years, so the foundation for a very personal story was already there.
I really fell in love with Moth during the writing process because he's a bit of a hidden gem - He comes across as materialistic and posh at first glace, but if you spend more time with him, he gets a lot deeper than that. A good boy <3
I could go into depth about each one, but I also want to save some trivia for the artbook that I might release sometime soon. There's a lot of it XD
Also, about the rejection sequences! It's actually possible to get rejected by every character when you ask for a date, and in multiple ways too, depending on how you acted. One is to not hang out with them after the prologue (they don't know you well enough), another would be if you picked a very hurtful choice during an interaction, and so on. Is it worth it to explore the rejection scenes? It depends. Some of them give a neat bit of extra characterization, others are just functional, but it's certainly not necessary unless you feel like it.
(And you recognized the memes!! WOOHOO)
Now I gotta stop myself from rambling too XD Thank you so much for sharing your feedback!! It really made my day <3

Session 39 Notes
(Skipping ahead so last session notes are in time for a quick read before next session) The Silver Scale Pack split up: While group A confronts The Superb Owl one last time, group B falls for a cryptid and gets teleported to the other side of Bouldergap from their recon mission. Plus: Shopping. Again. lol.
@gher-bear @aradow @telurin @epimetala
On this day The Silver Scale Pack's split missions get critical. Diem and Ixayl'anu have to battle it out with the The Superb Owl and her mob of charmed Bouldergap citizens.
Ultimately they win by deceit and successfully chase The Superb Owl off, back to The Iron Heights (mountains) without any loss of life or nonconsensual fey abductions.
The Bouldergap citizens are pretty grateful once the distance shakes off the last vestiges of charm and begin getting back to their lives, cleaning up the mess of a spontaneous tournament, and finding/checking on loved ones lost in the crowd and/or forgotten in their bespelled states.
In other words, nobody we know of is angry at us for chasing off the pretty owl. They're all pretty aware it was a spell that made them love and admire her so much.
Meanwhile, group B meet one of the near-mythical cryptids called a ropen up close. This one seems to be super ancient and magically potent with decorative colorful jewelry and tattoos that commonly get mistaken for "colorful plumage" in the rare (and doubted) accounts of sightings.
When first attempting to communicate the ropen (accidentally?) deals 3 psychic damage to the safety-bubbled forms of Rana and Fee. It sounds like the angels from Supernatural. Once it corrects this, it's voice still holds tangible power and sounds like an ancient being of immense power speaking to children.
It tells them both they are not safe here and that they have the situation contained and are handling it. Then puts them both to sleep and sends them safely to the other side of Bouldergap out into a field where they wake up about an hour later.
Just in time to hear Diem communicate through the stone that the owl has been handled.
The pack reunites and reports everything to Lawmaster Eldeth. They agree to gather in the morning for another trip out to Stoneroost with the help of two guards.
Their free night until then is spent shopping for gems and supplies. Afterward, Rana and Fee play a training game with their ratties and chill in the Temple of V'kandis until they wake there in the morning and procure another helper for the trip out in the form of a dwarven priestess who offers her healing skills in exchange for being able to check in on her family in Stoneroost.
Ixayl'anu spent the night in the stables with her newly resummoned elk. Diem went off to find and presumably spent the night with the other disguise-loving storyteller The Superb Owl had suggested they have a nice chat with.

Initiative order starts with Ixayl’anu and then Diem; Ixayl’anu goes first and casts moonbeam on the Superb Owl (it really is a fey owl; though a typo does turn her into the super bowl instead. Just a thought.). Ixayl’anu then runs her 30ft south along the fence.
Diem has to run to catch up as Ixayl’anu shoots past them. “Fly, Ixayl’anu!”. They cast fly on them both as soon as they manage to catch up to her in about 30ft.
5 villagers jump the fence to try and grab us.
One guy across fence to her right manages to grab Ixayl’anu and yank her a little off balance and out of the reach of the guy coming straight at her who’d jumped the southern fence to follow the owl’s orders.
Two guys of three more guys who also jumped the southern fence manage to grab me - one to each arm.
The Superb Owl not only takes half damage from a save (8dmg) by staring her turn in moonbeam, she actually pretends she created the moonbeam as an awe-inspiring spotlight for attention. She spreads her wings and flies straight up in it, showboating a little, and says, in an enunciating announcer voice: Bring them to me and I will deal with the heretics!
Practically everyone near the owl by the northern gate of the square arena and out in an oval of about 40 ft east and west is gazing in star-struck admiration at the owl.
Ixayl’anu struggles to get loose and succeeds her strength check, gets loose and flies 30 ft up and 30 ft east.
Diem uses fey presence to go all Galadriel-style-you-would-have-a-dark-queen visage and voice to inspire fear (16 wis check): Not me you fools!
This works on four out of five of the guys around them, but the one who resists just happens to be one of the guys holding on to them, who actually tightens his grip in half panic as Diem tries to fly away with him still attached (contested strength check failed). They only succeed in lifting him a few feet off the ground.
Diem to Ixayl’anu: Get out of here, go get the others!
A new guy enters the area from the south gate and helps the first pull me back down to the ground as those other four continue to cower a few feet back from me.
The owl takes 4 dmg starting in moonbeam again and doesn’t care, the barely-felt pain is worth the extra awe-inspiring beauty of her spotlight. She is hovering there at about the same height as Ixayl’anu (about 30ft off the ground): Keep that one contained, I will get the flying one!
She’s sad to leave her moonbeam, but flies after Ixayl’anu and misses both attacks. Screams: Look at me! (tries to charm Ixayl’anu and fails)
Ixayl’anu screams right back at her and lands all 3 attacks plus a level 2 smite: 45 total damage. “Never trust owls!”
The Superb Owl screeches again.
Diem goes completely limp and in the owl’s voice says: I have possessed this one, you can let it go. (23 deception)
Everyone buys it and lets Diem go. They immediately zoom 30 ft up and 30 ft toward Ixayl’anu, flying with her between me and the owl.
Guys who let them go realizing their mistake: Oh shit!
(3D chess for everyone now!)
The Northern portion of the crowd begins surging toward us as well, both guys who had Diem are running after them even though they’re 30 ft up.
Korial, the feathered dragonborn from one of Ixayl’anu’s home islands (who had been in charge of and enlisted in the fighting competition) had come out at some point, disappeared in his tent again, and is now coming out, handing off nets to capable-looking people nearby so he can take a shot with his bow at Ixayl’anu. He hits her for 10 dmg
The Superb Owl screams in Ixayl’anu’s face again and tries to grab at her for a grapple. 18 slashing damage and a strength check of 20 vs 21. Ixayl’anu pulls herself away from the grapple at the last minute, which is ruled one reason why the claws hurt so much - made the wound worse pulling out of the grasp.
Ixayl’anu’s next attack misses, but her 2nd does 15dmg plus another smite for 9 more dmg (total 24dmg).
Diem still doesn’t want to hurt the owl if they can avoid it, it’s chaotic good, but just doesn’t understand the concept and finality of death for mortals or why consent is important for the little honor guard it’s trying to create. They are out of big spells, but still have a lightning bolt in their ring if it comes down to it. However, the people also need to know this fey is willing to kill them for the sake of convenience anyway. It’s not outright evil, but inhuman enough it will kill them as easy as praise them.
As such, totally trying to create some doubts and tarnish the awe, show a little truth in a dramatic way, Diem moves their hands in front of their face as if they’re casting a spell, conveniently blocking anyone able to see their face from seeing their mouth move as they mimic The Superb Owl’s voice again, as loud as they can supervillain style and say: I will kill anyone who fails me! (21 deception).
A good amount of people around the South fence pause a little bit at this, including the guys who let them go during the last deception.
After that, Diem shoots Northwest and up 60ft to get above and behind The Superb Owl without flying close enough on the way to cause an attack of opportunity (essentially 20ft behind the owl to the northwest and 30ft up for a total of 60ft above ground and away from Korial’s bow).
They cast an eldritch blast but their heart still really isn’t in killing this pretty fey creature yet (Ixayl’anu is definitely not holding back for sure). Their first blast of crackling iridescent magic misses entirely as a result, and the other is held back too much, doing only 3dmg.
The guys who got nets from Korial are now close enough to throw them at Ixayl’anu, but both nets go wide without accidentally ensnaring any of the people under her instead.
Korial shoots at Ixayl’anu again, but misses.
The Superb Owl: Get more archers! Stop using the nets!
She disengages from Ixie and flies a bigger circle away. She goes up to about 80ft off the ground and take a commanding view of the whole area.
Ixayl’anu has seen birds of prey do this maneuver - she’s getting height so she can do a dive at Ixayl’anu (from 50ft above her now/20ft higher up than Diem is). Diem is clueless what this means for Ixayl’anu.
Ixayl’anu drops moonbeam and downs a potion (16 healing) on her way to get behind the owl and in front of me, close enough she and Diem both get the advantages of the bless she casts in moonbeam’s place (add a d4 to any attack roll or saving throw for a minute - 10 rounds).
Diem casts message on The Superb Owl, speaking directly in her head in sylvan, using their patron’s voice: Harm my pets and mark my words you will have an archfey hounding your immortality, making sure no one anywhere ever even thinks about worshipping you ever again (Intimidation check of 26).
The Superb Owl’s wingbeat pauses and she dips down a couple of feet in reaction. She’s still for the moment.
Diem yells out as loud as they can, in part for the Northside audience this time (and in their own voice): This is your last chance, do this the right way, no one’s taken by force and no one dies if they refuse!
24 performance for the crowd gets another big circle near enough to hear who are beginning to doubt. This includes Korial who has run forward enough he heard Diem’s yell. He also pauses and shakes his head a little bit.
The owl takes a good look around at the chaos and doubters, she screams an angry and hurt sound: None of you were really worth it anyway!
She disengages, picks up speed by dropping about 30 ft (still about 50ft from the ground though) and books it back toward the iron heights.
Ixayl’anu misty steps after her and crackles lightning effects, swiping at the air in the Superb Owl’s direction, making noises to reinforce driving her away and generally trying to be intimidating “You better run!” style. She rolls an 11 for intimidation. She can’t see the owl’s face for obvious reasons, but feels like she did a good job.
(The “Victory Speech” No One Asked For)
Diem flies lower toward the ground and makes themself look like an autumn-and-firey-sun themed archfey with a slightly higher voice than their patron’s to address the people around then. Their impulsive goal here is mainly to check on the hostility levels of the crowd while also trying to make sure a the presence of an archfey makes it into some stories. Just in case any of those get back to The Superb Owl in the future. They don’t use their own patron’s looks because they don’t know how their patron would feel getting that credit. They do go for a fiery-autumn look thinking this heavily V’kandis sun god religious area might attribute the deed in story to V’kandis instead, or an archfey follower (vague spur-of-the-moment possibilities for how this story gets retold over the years lol). Their performance is only a 16 for this though and it’s ruled that most people are simply distracted by the charm suddenly getting dispelled, becoming worried about loved ones and children/parents, etc. no longer in sight. Either way, everyone clearly knows what happened now (insofar as being charmed goes). Diem finished the story with what the owl had been planning, that it wasn’t just harmless (to hopefully discourage later retellings from making the owl out to be something to be tolerated the next time it comes around. Like no, it was definitely planning to take people against their will and seriously considering killing anyone merely for refusing to go with it. As they see the mood of the whole crowd shifting toward deflated sadness and seriousness, they end with what they hope is an inspiring message to find their loved ones and celebrate the return of their freedom. Diem knows it’s not their best work for sure, but they think it went over reasonably well for people being understandably distracted by suddenly remembering all the things and people and tasks the owl made them forget. They do notice Korial is standing there just listening and watching, head tilted after the hold on him was also dispelled.
At the end, Diem then pretends, for the benefit of whomever might still be watching, to be released by the mysterious autumn-fire entity who’d possessed them, their own visage fading back in as they get their bearings and look up at Ixayl’anu. They pull out their sending stone and say into it: Owl taken care of, we’re on our way to you guys in Stoneroost, let us know if we shouldn’t.
(Rana and Fee are falling!)
Fee makes a perception or investigation of 23 right before they start falling, they both hear a crack of thunder even though the sky isn’t stormy. Arcana check of 2 - Fee thinks it’s thunderbird thunder, there might be a thunderbird nearby she just doesn’t know.
Rana was showboating a little like “look at my mountains!” before she fell.
They feel cocooned in this nice little bubble of antigravity and have a slow descent that stops right above the trees like levitating above the treeline.
The ropen are following their descent with intent. 30-40 ft away still, it has embellishment on it - what Rana assumed was a natural coloration, it’s a paint/tattoo and jewelry situation.
These details make no difference to Fee.
Rana has an arm extended toward Fee about to cast a polymorph, but then they’re slowing down to a stop. “Fee are you okay?”
“Yeah, you?” Fee was also reaching for her hand and they manage to grasp hands.
When they stop, Fee tries to see if she can swim in the air, but she doesn’t move.
Rana: were you hit?
Fee: No you?
Rana: No
Fee: Can you become an owl again?
Rana: No...well, yes, but not the same way and I don’t know what knocked me out of owl to begin with (Rana is watching the Ropen as they talk - it’s taking its sweet time to get to them like a turkey vulture rather than any bird of prey about to swoop down and snatch you motions.
Fee looks for the ground through the trees and asks something I missed.
Rana perceives 18 trying to see if there are any other ropen around. 100 ft or so and getting closer (overiding the shorter distance earlier). She casts speak with animals and calls out: “Hello!?” (holds her hands out in peaceful gesture, rats freaking out with “What the fuck is happening?!” type chatter in her ears now).
Rana and Fee must make a con save, both fail (7 and 9, respectively). Both begin to hear ringing sounds in their ears - it’s SPN angel speak type noise. It crescendos to the point it hurts, all in their head, past the point of unbearable for a half second before it cuts out and they take 3 psychic dmg.
The ropen is close enough to hover in front of them after that and they both hear an intense psychic voice “This is not a safe place to be so I am going to bring you back to the nearest settlement - you should not be here until we handle it.”
Rana: We can’t go back, we’re here to figure out what’s going on.
Ropen: We’re taking care of it, their invisible bubbles of levitation start moving both Rana and Fee back the way they came.
Rana makes one persuasion check of 6 before the ropen puts them both to sleep. The whole time the ropen made them feel like they were being talked to as a child by an ancient, one that radiates strong magic.
(The zone you tried to access is down for maintenance; have a portal, take a nap)
Both Fee and Rana wake up feeling like it was really brief, but find themselves in a field outside Bouldergap. (Tournament was southwest of Bouldergap, they wake up northeast of Bouldergap - slightly farther away from town, and directly North of the road in.
Wisdom saving throws: 13 Rana, 20 Fee; Rana wakes up without memory of why she’s even here, the last she remembers she was an owl flying to Stoneroost. She tries to point at the empty air like the ropen is still there though.
Rana: Look, look that’s the thing I saw!
Fee: Yeah we both saw it…?
Rana: Yeah it’s right there! (the air is obviously empty though)
Fee: Uuuhhhhh…
Rana: Wait a minute, why are we back here? (She checks on the rats, who she can no longer understand, but that’s okay because she doesn’t remember casting that spell anyway.)
Fee: Oh, I see, what’s the last thing you remember, friend?
Rana: Flying
Fee: And then we were falling.
Rana statues.
Fee: Here’s what I think happened, I think your bird demons have some kind of bubble around Stoneroost because you somehow became not an owl and we were plummeting toward the ground and they slowed our descent and they made this awful noise screaming in our heads or maybe just my head and then talked to us like kids and were like “No we don’t need your help, we got this dudes.” (She retells the whole thing with more words than this but this is all I got transcribed live).
Rana looks doubtful: I think I’d remember that...
Fee: Yeah you would think…
At about this time, Diem’s voice comes through on the sending stones.
Diem: Owl taken care of, we’re on our way to you guys in Stoneroost, let us know if we shouldn’t.
Fee picks up almost immediately: No, don’t go to Stoneroost - fly to the other side of the tournament just out of town, we’re, well...marco polo or something when you get close until you find us and we’ll catch you up on--
Rana interrupts: Meet us at the gate into Bouldergap.
Fee: Yeah. That probably works better.
It will take Diem and Ixayl’anu about 5 minutes to fly to their destination.
In the meantime, as Rana and Fee walk toward said gate, they talk about what Rana doesn’t remember. She is very VERY interested in everything Fee has to say about the ropen. Fortunately for her, while Fee didn’t care about all the details of the ropen, she did take note of them with her high perception and was able to describe them pretty accurately to Rana - including the detail that they aren’t naturally colorful so much as wearing paint or tattoos and decorative jewelry that glints in the sun. Rana doesn’t know enough about ropen to say whether any of this was normal or not.
The lore for them is only that they’re brightly coloured pterodactyl-like creatures. No one’s gotten close enough to realize it’s not a natural thing and Rana thought they were just animals until now.
They do both remember getting just past the area where we saw the abominations on the road before they were stopped and ported away.
(Together again)
As Diem and Ixayl’anu approach and land, they find Fee and Rana both looking pissed, Rana has her map out, half plotting a route through the mountains instead.
Diem: How’d you guys get over here? Nevermind because…(they proceed to excitedly tell how things went with the owl - including the bit Ixayl’anu was not yet aware of about the message spell convincing the owl that their patron promised retribution if their pets, plural, were harmed)
Ixayl’anu preens with pride over her actions and shining moments during the story. We did not highlight, live, that she would be hearing the message that chased the owl off for the first time though, so there’s no noted reaction to that bit.
Rana (after Diem concludes the story): I hope the Ropen gets it.
Ixayl’anu: Ropen?
Rana looks at Fee: Well, since I don’t remember what happened…?
Fee: Yeah...remember how Rana was gonna carry me safely and we were gonna do this recon mission…?
Rana glares into the open air at nothing over the whole situation.
Fee: Once we got a little more than halfway to Stoneroost, just past where we were before we hit a bubble or something I don’t know but that big Rope-Roc bird thing flew in and Rana got switched back and we were falling then we were not falling and then the bird thing screamed in our heads and it hurt. Then was all like, “Don’t come over here I got this.” and then I don’t know yeah that’s when we were put to sleep and moved over here. I guess Rana mustve been dropped too hard because she doesn’t remember it all.
(Again, there were definitely more words used than this, more things said, all amusing retellings, but this is all I got transcribed live)
Rana: They’ve never stopped me going through the mountains before, so I’m thinking we go through the mountains and hike out there in the morning. (She also notes that they didn’t see abominations on the road though, at least).
We talk about possibly going by road one more time, but this time, coming out silver scale first to see if that gets us in the door with these Ropen. Among our options is Rana just straight flying out there again with one of us on her back, Ixayl’anu riding on her elk, or possibly hiking back out there and flying for the last 10-20 minutes. All with the silver scale and letter ready to show as a potential vip pass.
Diem pulls out their sending stone and starts to catch the guard captain up on everything as we head her way to check in.
Eldeth: Just meet me at the guard house, this is too much to take in over sending stones.
(At the guard house)
By the time we get there Eldeth says she’s heard many different stories but they all start with YOU (here she points at Ixayl’anu) breathing lightning all over the damned thing.
Ixayl’anu (not in the least as guilty as she should be lol): Yeah…
Eldeth: (nods to self like “Alright then.”) Well we hadn’t tried that, but it worked.
Diem fills her in with 25 performance on every little detail of everything tried first and failed and why etc. including visual demonstration of the archfey they tried to put in the story for retelling in case anything got back to the owl at least some versions might have an archfey involved.
Eldeth seems to appreciate all the details: Well, we had a deal and you handled it, but I’m not gonna lie I’d prefer to help you through to Stoneroost in the morning.
She calls in two guards for us though - a dark blue skinned goliath barbarian type named Mash Jufrin who has a pegleg (Mash was one of the dumb guards from the other day) and a reddish older looking warrior tiefling named Tioshikio Ayibi. Eldeth introduces them and says, “These are who I can spare - they’re the best at smashing things.”
Mash (laughing): Yeah I’m best at smashing things.
Diem: Delighted to meet you (to Eldeth after looking at the rest of their party) I’m definitely for the morning though too, I could use a short rest?
The others nod agreement.
Tio: In that case, I’ll go help out with breaking down all the festival havoc and meet you all at the gate out toward Stoneroost in the morning.
As Diem notices no one is telling the Stoneroost route story, they message Fee to ask why they’re not telling their story.
Fee out loud: Oh yeah you should totally do that!
Diem (also out loud now): Me? Oh...okay *tries to remember everything Fee said and does a 26 performance on telling their story*
Only because of that performance do they not laugh at Diem outright for talking about sky bigfoot but Eldeth is still looking at Rana (the local of our group) like “Seriously?”
Rana gives a look back like yeeaaaah...it is though, I know how it sounds. (She’d been wincing and frowning at every mention of ropen during the story.)
Eldeth believes us but points out that she wouldn’t otherwise if not for the owl and everything crazy that’s been going on of late. She recommends Tio to get more supplies to that end from the armory. We all part ways, Diem getting their extra sending stone back after announcing they have a date to get to.
(Free evening for shopping and more!)
We get the evening to do whatever we like. Rana needs a 300 gold diamond, so she’s going to go shopping. Since it’s on the way to other places we’re all headed, we all go with. Rana gets distracted by all the shiny pretty gems, Ixayl’anu has to pry her away eventually. Rana picks up 2 diamonds and can’t help herself, picks up 2 rubies, a sapphire and an emerald. Loose stones that call to her. Handful of rubies and pretty things.
Diem forgot in the live session but since it was determined they were there for the shopping on their way back to Emmen’s festival tent, they have been approved for also picking up some pretty stones and would have been just as enthralled by the pretties as Rana lol. Gem haul (whopping total of 1500gp lol): Includes 3, 10gp titanium rainbow peacock kyanite feathers, a large Iolite/Cordierite sample that is dark blue with white and clear crystal clusters in it at first glance - looking closer at various angles reveals the whites to shift into shades of silver that blend in with the blues that also shift with lighting into shades of black and violet as well (300gp for a small “brick” sized uncut chunk). Another normal-sized sample of this same uncut stone for 50gp, a water opal with an imperfection that looks like a crescent moon, worth 1000gp (the two big ticket items are to be gifts for their patron, if anyone asks), and topped off with a pouch of additional, hand-selected rough cut samples of asst other stones mostly in shades of teals and purples (basically would look like a small stash of rough fluorite, quartz, etc.). They also pick up a little amethyst cat figuring worth 100gp (because gifts to the fey should always come in threes).
Ixayl’anu hauls us out of there before we spend ALL of our money there (I mean for her goddess’ sake, it’s not like they’re the teeth of a rare and impressive beast or something) and goes off to find a shop with healing potions where she buys two common healing potions (100g total).
Diem gets 2 greater healing potions for 150 each.
Rana says she’s going to the temple, everyone but Diem is gonna join her there. Diem splits off from the rest to find their aforementioned “date.”
Ixayl’anu resummons her elk in the temple courtyard. It takes her 10 minutes to do so. He bugles frantically as though no time had passed since he was attacked and Ixayl’anu is there with horse girl hugs and affection that he appreciates as she calms him down.
Mutanamri quietly comes up to her during this: So while you’re welcome to stay here, and we appreciate all your help recently...your steed does have to stay outside the temple...it’s a little bit of a sacrilegious thing, so if you could put it out in the stables please?
Ixayl’anu nods and says she understands. She and her elk continue their affectionate reunion on the way to stables. She spends the night in the stables with her elk, sleeping together.
Rana floats the idea with Fee to do a find the item and retrieve course for the rats outside the temple somewhere. Fee agrees. Rana hands Fee a frickin ruby for this game and uses a frickin emerald for Hamlet, hiding them for retrieval. These are the games of the rich, people lol. Rana casts speak with animals and they send the rats out on their missions. They make animal handling checks of 8 for Rana and 17 for Fee 17. Horatio wins! It does help that he recognizes the “retrieve” game through practice a little better than Hamlet does.
We confirm that tiny animals stopped speaking draconic about a couple miles out of Longview. So Fee can also speak to and understand her rat through her ring.
Afterward Rana settles down by the flame and Fee with her, presumably.
(In the morning…)
In the morning, after everyone’s gotten up and performed early morning mass, Alka Briskfizz, a dwarven priestess in green, gold, and cream-colored robes, her orangey-red hair in pigtails approaches Rana and Fee: I heard you helped with the owl situation and I know you talked to Mutanamri a little bit about that already. I’m actually here right now because I’d like to offer my services for your other trip - I’ve got some family in Stoneroost as well. It would be nice to go up and see them with your group, make sure everything’s alright. I have some healing capabilities.
Rana nods: We’ll take all the help we can get.
Fee: Yeah…
Alka: Good - though...I thought there was more of you?
Rana: Yeah, we have to go collect one of us somewhere in town and the other is sleeping in the stables with her elk.
(some missed conversation for sure)
Fee: Have you heard anything more about what might be going on?
Alka: Every time I’ve been on the road it’s been uneventful, so this is new to me.
Fee talks about how the road was creepy and Alka says that’s definitely not normal for the pass.
Rana talks about what to expect on the road, mentions the ropen but frames it like, ‘yeah, we know it sounds crazy, but with everything else that’s going on, why not an impossible cryptid too?’.
Fee chimes in every now and then.
Alka’s listening politely. Rana insight checks at a 12 on her reactions - she seems skeptical but open to there being something best described, for now, as a mythological cryptid.
They swing by the stable first to pick up Ixayl’anu and that’s where the session ends.

Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand review
The SNES was a console with many great RPGs. From popular classics like Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Earthbound, to hidden gems like Live A Live, Terranigma, Secret of Evermore, and Shadowrun, it’s a library with a lot of enjoyment to offer. Of course, not every RPG on the system fared so well, with quite a few mediocre and forgettable games scattered about, and unfortunately, Ys V, Falcom’s second attempt at revamping their classic series, after Ys IV backtracked to using the original bump combat system, is among these. Even today, about the only notable thing about Ys V to a modern fan is the current lack of any remake, unlike IV, or the similarly flawed Ys III, which was enough to rouse my curiosity and drive me to give it a fair playthrough. While I did have some fun with it, there’s certainly a reason there were no new Ys games for nearly a decade afterwards, and the specifics on why that is is what we’ll be looking at today. Note that while Ys V was never released outside of Japan, it does have an English translation patch, courtesy of Aeon Genesis, in what was apparently one of their most difficult hacking jobs ever.
Story: About 4 years after the events of Ys I & II, Adol Christin, or, as he’s come to be known, Adol the Red, arrives at the port town of Xandria on the continent of Afroca (yes, literally just fantasy Alexandria and Africa), rather suspiciously without his constant companion Dogi, and on an intact ship, at that. The normally aimless Adol has been lured to Xandria by rumors of a mysterious Phantom City, said to contain amazing riches. After being contacted by a wealthy merchant named Dorman, however, Adol is given the truth: the so called Phantom City is actually the lost city of Kefin, a prosperous nation that wielded tremendous power five hundred years ago through the power of alchemy. Recently, the Kefin desert has been expanding, consuming many towns within the area, and monsters have become numerous and aggressive, leaving Xandria at threat of becoming a barren waste. Wishing to gain access to the secrets of Kefin’s alchemy in order to halt this desertification, Dorman hires Adol to find six elemental crystals that are said to have the power to unlock the way to Kefin. Unfortunately for Adol, he really has his work cut out for him this time; many of Afroca’s citizens are fearful of him, due to ancient legends telling of a red haired man that will bring great havoc upon his arrival, and he’s harassed by a band of thieves called the Ibur Gang, who are out to take all the crystals for themselves. Though Adol makes several allies as well, such as Niena, the adopted daughter of the great adventurer Stein, who disappeared three years ago looking for the crystals himself, Massea, a woman who possesses knowledge of alchemy matched by few others, and Stoker, the spirit of a man who lived five hundred years ago, he also comes to find that several other forces are conspiring to use Kefin’s alchemy for their own destructive purposes, and that his client may be less trustworthy than he initially seems.
While most of the classic Ys games had quite cliche stories, if understandably considering their age, Ys V is actually a fair bit more original, with some pretty decent moments toward the end of the game. Unfortunately, before that point, most of the story just consists of just wandering around finding all the crystals, with the random interferences Adol encounters being the only things spicing it up, such as being forced to undergo a series of trials, or being blown off a raft by a sandstorm and washing up in a different town, keeping the tradition of boating accidents in Ys alive and well. Despite the amount of important supporting characters around, most of them barely even show up for most of the story, which makes for a pretty underdeveloped and forgettable cast, with only Terra of the Ibur Gang sticking out thanks to reappearing in Ys VI. It also just feels very disconnected from the rest of the series, with Dogi completely missing, and a lot of plot elements that feel out of place for Ys. According to the book Ys Complete Works, a lot of plot elements had to be left out of V, which certainly explains why it feels so underbaked, and leaves a lot of potential for improvement if a remake ever materializes, but until then, while a neat step forward for the writing of the series, Ys V’s story ultimately just doesn’t fare very well overall.
Gameplay: Here’s where things really start falling apart. The bump combat system is gone once and for all now, with Ys V using a dedicated attack button like Ys III, a system that remains in place even today. Unlike Ys III, however, the general gameplay is still much more similar to the other titles, overhead perspective and all, with the change in combat instead feeling a lot more like the 2D Zelda titles. Along with swing his sword, Adol can also now use his shield to actively block attacks. There’s also a jump button, though there’s not much platforming to be done. In theory, this isn’t a bad change at all, but in practice, combat is extremely stiff and awkward feeling. Unlike in Zelda, where Link always swings with a nice, wide arc, Adol is stuck jabbing things for most of the game instead. Each sword has a different range, with exactly one that actually has a proper swing, and the ones you’ll use the most, the second and last swords, only being capable of stabs. Annoying as this is, it wouldn’t quite be a deal breaker, if it wasn’t for how frustratingly precise you need to be when attacking. If you’re even slightly off center, you’ll just whiff. Meanwhile, attacks from enemies are given far more leniency, and even using the shield, you need that same level of precision in order to block anything. Needless to say, this gets very frustrating.
Aside from just attacking physically, magic, or to be more accurate, alchemy, is also available, with spells being made by collecting elemental stones and having an alchemist combine three at a time, with six different elements and eighteen possible spells, which can then be attached to Adol’s weapon and slowly charged up until the magic meter reaches 100, at which point attacking will cast the spell and drain MP and spell charge. While a neat idea in concept, in practice, almost everything you can make is downright awful. Not only are many spells nearly identical to each other, but most of them are just really, really bad, with absurdly long casting animations, during which enemies are free to continue moving around and out of the spell’s range, wasting both your time and MP. About the only useful spells are the ones that hit everything on screen, which take an absurd amount of MP, and the basic fireball, which has no casting animation, and is mandatory to get anyway. Several enemies will also just absorb magic entirely and gain HP, so using it can often be an outright detriment. Even worse, the game basically forces you to use magic by separating EXP into two different types: physical EXP, obtained from defeating enemies with the sword, or from bosses, which boosts physical power and defense and magic EXP, which is gained from killing enemies with magic, and boosts magic power and defense, meaning if you ignore magic, any enemy using magic attacks will quickly wreck you. The stones needed to make the spells, along with a few other items like coins to be sold, are also mostly hidden across the different areas, and can only be found by rubbing up against every wall and object in sight, which is really annoying, and you really can’t afford to miss any of them if you want to make most of the available spells.
Bosses are pretty dumb too, with a lot of them just coming down to standing in one places and stabbing until they die, chugging heal potions until they die, and considering the most basic healing item heals 60% of Adol’s HP, it’s not hard to do, either. In general, the game is overly forgiving. While still pretty annoying, the level system means it is pretty easy to end up overleveled with physical and magic levels combined, and rather than just dropping a set amount of gold, enemies instead drop gems, which can be sold to merchants for varying amounts. While this wouldn’t make much of a difference on paper, the gems are worth so much, and certain merchants have high enough exchange rates, that you can make a lot of money pretty easily, and considering the third and second best weapons in the game are sold in the first two towns, it’s even easier to break the game wide open. Most areas are also really short, with several dungeons literally just consisting of three or four small rooms, so you’re rarely ever in serious danger traversing them, with most of their length just coming from forced backtracking. While an improvement from how grind heavy most of the early Ys games were, the easiness just makes the experience even less engaging, to the point Falcom had to make a second version of the game, titled Ys V Expert, due to complaints.
Graphics: The visuals of Ys V, to put it bluntly, barely even resemble the rest of the series, to the point it’s basically indistinguishable from any other SNES RPG. It doesn’t look outright bad, but whereas Ys usually uses a super deformed style with lots of colors, Ys V uses a more realistically proportioned style with really dark, dull colors, to the point that Adol’s usual distinctive bright red hair looks more brown than anything. Most areas are pretty forgettable, with pretty generic caves and ruins, but there are a few neat areas, like the rainy marshlands, which actually carry a pretty strong atmosphere, and the bosses look kinda cool, if a bit samey. You also get to customize Adol a bit, being able to change the color of his clothes and armor in the menu, along with his hair color, if you find a hidden NPC fairly late in the game, with the default option actually giving him his usual hair color. Overall, though, the visuals are still pretty unspectacular.
Music: In yet another change from series tradition, Ys V forgoes the usual rock style of the soundtrack, and instead takes a much more orchestral approach, again making it stand out even less from its competition, only retaining a few traditions like the item collection music and the Theme of Adol. In this case, however, I can’t complain that much about the change, because the resulting soundtrack, in usual Falcom fashion, is still fantastic. From the peaceful Foresta Village, to the melancholy Misty Lake, to the mysterious Oasis, to the dark Sand Castle, to the adventurous Wilderness, there are a lot of great tracks to be found, and it’s absolutely worth looking up the soundtrack even if the rest of the game would drive you away.
Conclusion: Overall, Ys V is not recommended. It’s not an outright bad game, and can still be decently fun. It’s short enough that it’s not much of an investment to play through, and it was still an important step that allowed Ys VI to fully modernize the gameplay of the series. As a whole though, it’s still a pretty underwhelming and clunky experience that’s almost completely divorced from the rest of the series. You’re not missing much by leaving it alone, and perhaps with the release of Ys IX, a remake of V could be next on the schedule. Either way, that’s about all I can even say about this game. Till next time. -Scout
