how could you look at c!clingy duo, a literal duo who’re known to be clingy, and not get any underlying homoeroticism from them? whether romantic or not those two are destined to have a complex relationship. i always am flabbergasted by how little the fandom handled their relationship. it’s so fascinating cause just by the name of them together, they play such an important role in each others lives. why no one really delved into that in 2020-2021 i don’t know.

had a conversation last week with a 10 year old girl about the s5 finale and i can’t stop thinking about it. she said nathalie is the best because she loves adrien enough to lie to him about his father so that he stays happy. completely convinced that emilie was resurrected at the end and shocked when i suggested otherwise. i’ve been dying to know what the children think happened and it’s so interesting

Sonic 3 spoilers!!! Talking about the mid credits scene/what people have been saying about it under the cut
feeling like the only one who doesnt want reverse sonamy for the movies </3
or more accurately, fine sonic can have an obvious crush on her but i dont want ‘reverse sonamy’ to mean ‘amy doesnt have a crush on sonic.’ she can be lowkey about it or whatever (like sonic is sometimes in the games/other media) but to me part of Who She Is is that shes this super cool, super strong, intelligent fighter but shes also still a young girl who has crushes and believes in fate and is guided by her compassion, not by her strength or her mission or her love of adventure.
shes such a good character because while she is physically strong and possibly slightly magic, those are equally as important as her love and compassion and care for the world and people around her. preserving amys girlhood is important to me like loving sonic isnt her single defining character trait bc she ‘has to have a crush on a guy’ but it is a main character trait because thats just who she is. a loving person who sees the good in the world and wants to protect it and loves sonic because she sees him as the embodiment of that

Half of the evidence for jonsa is a reach, though...I do think they will reunite like in the show but to say that it will be romantic because Jon chopped of Jano Slynt's head /for Sansa/ (when he never even thinks of her) is a big leap. If anything, it's intended to show Jon embracing his Stark roots - which would mean he will definetly not want to be romantic with his sister.
if it was just janos slynt’s beheading linking jon and sansa then i would agree with you but the thing is that it’s not just that moment…there are so many combined moments linking them that i truly can’t interpret it any other way than romantic foreshadowing.
like there’s the ashford tourney foreshadowing sansa’s final betrothal to a targ. and jon and sansa having matching dreams about rebuilding winterfell and naming their children after their family (with the members not mentioned in sansa’s dream being mentioned in jon’s, so their dream is only ‘complete’ when placed together). and jon and sansa’s first loves resembling each other. and then there’s jonnel/sansa. and then there’s how the books are structured so jon and sansa’s chapters always follow each other whenever there is an emphasis on marriage/romance/children. and these are just off the top of my head, there are many more links that occur throughout the text.
i could dismiss janos slynt as just a reference to jon’s stark identity or a future familial relationship between jon and sansa. i could dismiss the ashford tourney theory as foreshadowing f/ageon not jon. i would have dismissed it if these were the singular, isolated instances that connect them. but when things begin to stack up and become a pattern rather than coincidence it starts to feel more and more like grrm is waggling his eyebrows suggestively and gesturing furtively all while mouthing ‘look over here’.

As a continuation of this ask that I responded to, all the things I mentioned are just parts of the overall issue I have with Blades…. which is that, in the grand scheme of things, I feel like MC is simply a plot device for the other characters rather than a fully developed character who has a fully developed and satisfying arc herself. It’s clear that Nia’s is the story the writers really wanted to tell considering how intertwined her characterization/development and the overall world building are. They basically even admitted as much.
So my question is why not just make her the MC if that’s really what you wanted on the not so down low? They still could’ve incorporated the skill mechanic. Why create a whole player character just to have us running to solve everyone else’s problems/support them while acting like everything that happens to us exists inside of a vacuum in the meantime? So far, all we’ve really been doing in this book is reporting where the group needs to go, telling them what to do, having heart to hearts with them when they need help moving to the next stage of their development, and then being spoonfed information through the lore tablets, which are apparently more for the players’ benefit than MC’s since they barely affect how we respond in game anyway. I’m fine with being the leader or the glue that holds everyone together, but to me it’s unsatisfying that that’s all we are as the main character.
We somehow become more competent due to the skill mechanic but no less clueless at the same time. We have all this terrible shit happen to us, but are only offered a few lines’ description of how that’s affected us. And then the rest of the attention goes to setting up the light vs. shadow conflict and our friends, who get to have personal and compelling conflicts of their own. I mean I feel like MC is more of an emotional support animal to them than an actual person with dreams, feelings, and a (minimal) background. Imo the only character who’s getting shafted almost as much as us is Imtura.
And all of this might make it sound like I hate Blades, but it’s quite the contrary actually. It’s still one of my favorite series and has a lot of fun moments and lovable characters. But I think at this point, its flaws have become too large for me to ignore. So that’s still affecting my enjoyment a bit and probably the reason why I’m so upset with how certain things are being handled. Of course I’m aware that Blades isn’t the only book that has some of these issues though. I think it’s just a little more disappointing because I expected more

i will say it Sure Is Interesting that i remember people making a big fuss over whether they would know or could decide in-game whether their elves were from an alienage/dalish/etc and the devs were quick to reassure people that had been taken into consideration.
but there doesn’t seem to have been any equivalent for a dwarf rook

feel like some people don’t comprehend that partially the point of tbosas is that you can sympathize with Coryo. It never excuses his actions nor does it try to, but it’s way more complicated than Coryo just being ‘psycho’

Classic internet stupidity.
"This character is bad and-" No, you just don't like them because they get in the way of your ship.
I’m a little confused if this is targeted at me or at the people I was talking about in the last post I made, but either way I’ll answer.
You’re right, this happens so much where a character is hated on in a way that the person hating thinks there is a logical reason to hate them. As in, they don’t hate a character just because they didn’t sit right with them(that’s a valid reason for hating a character), they hate a character because they want to find something unlikeable about them and turn it into their main thing. A character doesn’t have to actually be bad for people to not like them but when someone wants them to be bad because that way they feel validated for hating them it’s annoying.
And the reason they want to feel validated for hating them is because they feel like that character gets in the way of their ship. Like it’s okay to want a ship to happen and it’s okay to dislike a character for no reason, but that doesn’t mean the character is actually bad and everyone should agree with you.
I hope this answered your ask, even though if wasn’t really a question but a good point
