The world’s largest population of blind people lives in India. Over 8 million people, to be exact. The majority of them lack access to even the most basic medical facilities because they reside in the nation’s most underdeveloped regions. But did you know that if they had received prompt treatment, nearly half of them might not have become blind? Sightsavers India realises the importance of eye health and thus through its programmes ensures availability of affordable, quality eye health services in rural districts, urban slums, government schools and to the underprivileged community.

Saw a post being like “if a fundraiser is a scam who cares if some people lose $15 to a scam anyway” and it really has me caught off guard because it’s like ?? Any genuine concern is not for a few people losing out on some money - it’s that people in need, the intended recipients, don’t get the money. And they are not losing out on one donation, they get the cumulative effect of however many donations are instead scooped up by grifters. There’s only so much money people are able to give.
#this isn’t an opinion on who is legit or not because I’m not following it#just seeing some wild takes about charity scams#also imo it’s different than like interrogating random panhandlers imo because they are so much more limited in scope compared to online#also panhandling is much more work than having a gofundme so like … I imagine there’s less people trying to exploit it

Hello, I'm Mohmmed Akram, This is my brother Ahmed
We live in Gaza, which has been suffering from war for more than 10 months.
I had a lot of ambitions and dreams that I was working to achieve, but all that faded from the start of this brutal war.
10 months of bombing, destruction, suffering, displacement and death.
Our house was destroyed at the beginning of the war on Gaza and I had to flee inside Gaza at the beginning since the third day of the war before I was taken out of it (to the south),
So that all our fortunes, memories and lives will be smarted out before October 7th. The costs now are heartbreak and unspeakable and unbearable conditions, in a tent that cannot be described .
It was one of the worst days in which this cruelty and famine were thrown upon us. On that nightmarish day, a school housing a large number of displaced children and women was targeted in this place. My brother Ahmed was injured in the head as he was trying to make a living during these famines.
My brother Ahmed is injured
Unfortunately, due to the presence of many among them, shocks, cases of fainting, needs, medical care needs, problems and difficult circumstances, but your help, my friends, standing next to Ahmed Kakh, is for you. He and his family need help to enable them to overcome this disaster and suffering.
Thank you for your interest and reading, and I hope you can help, if only a little ❤

I can’t believe that one simple question of- “hey should I donate to this nonprofit organization that brings happiness to me and others” -has brought such fucking vitriol out of some of y’all…
..,if your cause is driving you to tell people to kill themselves because they thought about donating $5 to a fanfiction website, maybe you should go outside, touch grass, and rethink your morals, yeah?

negative connotations to Arabic phrase ‘God is Great’ incorrect. average praying Muslim does takbir (says Allahu Akbar) a minimum 95 times a day and should have been counted.
#minimum#like MIMIMUM.#each day#like that’s just for the 5 prayers#only the obligatory ones it doesn’t include the additional voluntary ones most people also tend to do at some point#it doesn’t include regular use of the phrase in conversation#the phrase is literally used as an exclamation#like if you say ‘Allahu akbar my shift is over! I can go home alhumdulilah!’#like I don’t know what to tell you#western news-media connotations are so weird#you literally yell takbir to celebrate as well#saw a thing where everyone did takbir every time someone donated a huge amount to charity like brooooooooo#people be laughing so hard and getting Allahuakbar Allahuakbar out while wheezing#you score a goal? Allahu akbar alhumdulilah#this is very normal culturally transmitted info#Christian Arabs use the phrase as well like it's Arabic come on western media you’re not even trying#it’s such a joke#95 doesn't even include the 2 calls to prayer#it doesn't count people who do the extra allahu akbar (x33) after each prayer#doesn't include anything recited before bed#like. these are not uncommon things people choose to do. like...... BRO???#if you've ever seen Muslims praying in a group the person leading the prayer does the takbir out loud. that's literally how it's done#there are like 7 or 5 'Allahu akbar's in each round of prayer#you can't NOT say that part out loud it's literally THE part that has to be said out loud in each prayer#this information is very available online#you can say it before doing anything idk why it became a big deal in the west especially#it's some strange xenophobic Islamophobic normalise killings in those regions of the world mix#I’ve been getting recommended so many Arabic anime edits idk what to tell you#call everyone habibi it’s good for you#one of the most popular world languages fr

showing up to anti-zionist community rosh hashanah services tonight like "hello i am ready to weep & maybe do some arson. does anybody want to burn anything down"
#i am tired i am sad i am terrified#i am also having some big feelings about online leftist tactics of guilt/shame/condescension when speaking to their own base/potential base#i am constantly overwhelmed constantly feeling helpless i do NOT actually need to be told i am not feeling guilty enough#or i'm never doing enough. that i owe everything always including relentless emotional attention to global atrocities#because traumatizing yourself with a 24/7 feed of death & disaster is activism and/or penance for the crime of living in the imperial core#please fucking learn how to motivate & engage people via shared empowerment#get the words mutual aid out of your fucking mouth unless you are ready to actually build supportive coalitions#if all you want to do is yell & shame people into donating to something that is not mutual aid. it's charity#it positions your audience as powerful & owing money out of pity/guilt to an underclass#which is whatever. people in crisis just need money to survive. but stop pretending you're doing revolutionary politics#if you can't be assed to treat people like comrades

‘I can’t find good clothes in charity shops! I have to buy from SHEIN!’
Brev I just got a slutty as hell top + a chunky bracelet + a carrier bag for £3 in a charity shop smaller than my bedroom. And they didn’t even charge me for the carrier bag.
Maybe the charity shops aren’t the problem. Maybe you just dress like a loser.
#‘I can’t find any in my size!’ DIY. I promise you your SHEIN leggings are gonna rip at the thighs#they may be sized for bigger bodies but they aren’t made for bigger bodies#‘there aren’t any charity shops in my area!’ get a bus. get the Vinted app. put a flier up on a local board for a drop off point for people#to donate their clothes. you can even specify if you want certain sizes.#I understand it isn’t accessible for everyone but I see a lot of excuses online and not a lot of education on alternatives

Hi, I wanted to ask your thoughts on idols and how there are many cases where excused from doing "controversial" stuff because theyre supposedly ignorant, not all fans do this but they are rarely held accountable for some things. Now I don't agree with attacking people for these things nor do I agree that ALL things I've seen pointed out are controversial, but surely idols need to be globally aware at this point? And have a PR team to filter through their ignorance? Even jimin who was already very cautious on social media said yesterday that he's being extra careful now that he's a soldier.
Hi Anon,
I'd like to ask you a follow-up question: what do you think Korean "idol" celebrities should be held accountable for?
Personally, I don't think "idol" celebrities are best placed to tackle political issues and take stands, first and foremost because they're not able to speak on issues in their own country, let alone ones happening across the world.
I also think a lot of Western fans have very Western-centric viewpoints that have them convinced that a person in Korea has the same kind of cultural knowledge as they do. I assure you they do not. Even people in the UK are very ignorant of sensitive political and cultural issues in Canada and the US, and they speak the same language.
Also, a lot of people who are terminally online have behaviour standards that do not match the real world.
So what do I expect? Let me put this in terms of my fav, Taemin. I expect him to continue making great art and making that his sole focus. And I expect him to listen and be earnest if he makes a public gaffe that may have hurt people — which is what he does, and then some. I don't expect anything more.
#this crazy terminally online behaviour standards are ruining people#they make performance of activism or political correctness more valuable than real life acts like charity work and fundraising

honestly fascinated by people on here who will spend money to blaze their bad fanfiction that nobody wants to see instead of donating it to any of the dozens of life-saving escape gofundmes undoubtedly circulating on their dash
#this is not me saying ''you should never spend money on yourself it should all go to charity''#or even ''if you can spend money online you can donate''#but it feels so disrespectful to me. there are people literally begging in people's inboxes for support to escape an ongoing genocide#and you're flaunting that THIS is what you would rather spend your money on? in their faces?#p

none of my business whether yall self ship with hazbin hotel characters or whatever, but since im seeing an influx of it (likely because of the new show) i'd like to remind yall to please boycott it (and pirate it if you must). it is being hosted on amazon, one of the BDS's pressure targets in the strike for palestine's cause– while it is acknowledged that you realistically cannot fully boycott targets like amazon (because of their monopoly over shipping), it will still be helpful to drop things sponsored by it that you ultimately do not need.
the self ship community has presented itself as an open and diverse community for years– prove it by being willing to stop giving profit to media that has a stake in hurting others.
support palestinian self shippers.
#this also applies to media such as: the last of us / percy jackson / stranger things / scream / etc#and the flag means death too btw. especially with what that 'charity' was saying about causes like palestine#understand that no one's asking you to fully give these things up but you should at least minimize it#and understand that while these medias and your f/os are sources of comfort to you they are still ultimately luxuries#luxuries that a lot of palestinians cannot indulge in rn#it might be easy for some of yall to dismiss them as numbers but theyre people just like us. they enjoyed fandoms they indulged in daydreams#they make art they write stories. but right now they cannot#one beloved artist in the jjk community (noury) recently lost her eye. she will not be able to create art the same way she used to#know that and acknowledge how lucky you are.#so many fandoms and safe spaces online fall into traps of individualism and justify it with therapyspeak#like 'im looking out for my mental health!' please dont fall into this trap too. remember you must care for others#long post#self ship#self ship community

Idk who needs to hear this but
Do not send money to that person on Tumblr who says they're going homeless, starving, dying, etc. It is probably not real, ESPECIALLY not if it's in YOUR ASK BOX.
I know it'll make you feel better to help. If you really want to help someone, take the time to investigate their profile for credibility.
Signs of Credibility
Posts are unique with noticable effort put into them - look out for copy pasting
Many original posts unrelated to their struggles, especially interacting with peers and/or communities. Even more credible if they have their own community. - If their whole page is dedicated to their struggle and boosting others, it's probably not real.
Other social medias linked, with activities spanning over a long period of time (unrelated to donation style content)
Does not overshare details about their suffering - they only say what needs to be shared i.e "medical costs, battling cancer, etc."
No set amount of money needed is stated
Photos are unique, not stolen
Grammer is concise and consistent - those who are seriously trying to get help are going to try and present themselves nicely / professionally
Tags are relevant to the post / poster
There are definitely more signs of credibility to be noted, so feel free to add in the comments. PEACE 👌

I found a place where you can put clothes you don't want anymore in a container and I assumed it's either going to get recycled or given to charities but when i looked closer someone wrote "don't steal the clothes!!" on it and it's like. people put the clothes in for free. how is it stealing if you take something people don't want. does the owner of this container profit from the clothes or something? do they think what they are doing is charity but if a poor person takes the clothes thats not charity?? very confusing
#time to look for a charity or sell clothes online etc#my grandma died two years ago and we still haven't donated her clothes im the only one in the family who started sorting them#and put away some to keep and some to throw away

Saw a video and it got me in a mood so i'm making this post.
I don't think people who have never been fat knows how fucking hard it is to find clothing for bigger bodies.
The first issue is finding stuff in your actual size. Because time after time after time and time again I've gone to a store and they only had small and medium sizes. Not even large. And this was not for a few clothes, no. It was for MOST clothes that I found interesting. And then the ones that were marked as large were simply not big enough.
And I know that the reason for that is that brands simply won't make clothes for fat people. It's that because it surely isn't because the large size is selling out fast. They just don't do it. And some people have the nerve to say 'well brands are not obligated to make sizes for everyone' yeah sure, but also, I can't walk naked on the street can I?
Like I don't get it. 'oh but we want our clothes to fit a especific body' so fucking make clothes that are supposed to fit bigger bodies. Doesn't have a to be a whole ass collection.
And then we get on the second problem which is making clothes for plus size people that are ugly as hell. It's always the same stuff: ugly florals, animal print that belongs in another decade, cold shoulders, that weird extra fabric at the end of a shirt to hide the belly, or just black/muted colors.
Like fun fact. If you have big boobs, the hardest thing in the world is trying to find a bra that comes in a color that isn't white, black or beige. Because trust me, I've spent 3 hours walking in the shopping mall and I couldn't find anything that fit my breasts that was like pink (and in that situation I needed a pink bra for a play).
It feels like most clothes made for plus sized people are designed with like 50+ year old white women in mind, and not even that demographic of people are wearing those clothes (my mom is a plus sized 50+ year old white woman and often talks about how ugly some clothes made for people her size are).
It's hard trying to develop your own sense of style when none of the clothes around you are in your size, and when they do, they are just not good looking to you.
But you wanna know what's the down right worst part? Do you know what fucking brand has clothes that look good and are amde for bigger bodies?
The goddamn cancer on this earth that is Shein.
I fucking hate shein. Fast fashion is killin the fashion industry, they literally have people working as slaves and many influecers buy shein clothes by the bulk only to then throw it in the trash. Shein is awful.
But. Unfortunetly, shein is the only place that I found that had clothes that fit me and looked good. I don't like that. I avoided buying from shein for the longest time ever, but jesus christ, when you can't find clothes anywhere else you get desperate.
I tried looking for other places. I tried looking at my local clothing stores and everything was too small for me. I tried looking at online small bussinesses but they either didn't make my size, or it was sold out, or the prices were very high. Tried looking at thrift stores, also didn't find my size.
I try not to buy too much from shein or to spend long periods of time in between buying, because again, I feel bad about buying there. I don't want to buy from there.
Clothing brands/stores gotta do better. And I don't think that's asking for too much.
#this is less polite as i usually am because i'm so fucking tired of this shit#like these brands make probably millions every year#why is it apparently too much to ask for clothes in bigger sizes????#like idk i think everyone should be able to buy clothes that fit them and look nice???#and like god i don't want anyone to come on here be um actually it's very hard for the clothing industry to be inclusive#bc this post ain't about that#this post is about how frustrating it is to find clothes when you're fat#and also don't come for me bc of where i'm buying some stuff from ok#i feel so fucking guilty every time i buy from there#and like my friends buy from shein like every other week practically#i usually buy from there every 6+ months or so#and it's usually like a dress or two#at least i know that I don't throw clothes in the trash#if there's something here or there that doesn't look amazing but it's workable i'll go to the seamstress#if it doesn't fit me at all (which is a risk that can happen with online shopping) i donate it#and i will wear clothes until i can't wear them anymore#and even when i can't wear them anymore they they are usually still in a good enough condition that i can donate it to charity#or to someone close to my family who might give it a better use#this is a very big rambling sorry about this it's just aaaaaaaaa#i probably should go sleep
