JIYAN
Headcanons:
Ever since you and Jiyan started dating, his medicinal gourd has become your personalized first-aid kit. Allergies bothering you? He has antihistamines at the ready. Monthly menstrual woes? He stocks up on the best menstrual products and painkillers. Prone to migraines? He never forgets to carry tablets. Jiyan is always prepared to care for you at a moment’s notice.
Jiyan's keen senses pick up on your illness before you even realize it. The slightest change in your behavior or the faintest hint of discomfort doesn't escape his notice. He's there with a gentle hand on your forehead, a soft question about how you're feeling, even before you can put it into words.
Jiyan's cooking skills come in handy when you’re feeling under the weather. If you have stomach problems, he’ll make something light and easy to digest like a soothing broth or plain rice with some gentle herbs. If you’re suffering from cramps, he’ll whip up a meal rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as a salmon dish or chia seed pudding. For colds, his go-to is a hearty soup filled with anti-inflammatory ingredients like turmeric and ginger. His cooking isn't just delicious; it's a heartfelt remedy tailored to your needs.
The General in him takes a backseat when you're sick, letting the compassionate medic take over. Jiyan becomes incredibly attentive, constantly checking on you, ensuring you're comfortable and have everything you need.
Jiyan is always on top of everything when it comes to taking care of you. He keeps track of your medication schedule, making sure you never miss a dose. He adjusts the room temperature to your comfort, brings you extra blankets, and even stays up late to monitor your condition. If you have a fever, he gently wipes your forehead with a cool cloth, and if you're nauseous, he's there with a basin, ready to hold your hair in place while calming you down with soothing words.
To brighten your day, Jiyan will bring you a bouquet of your favorite flowers. He knows how much you love them, and their presence always brings a smile to your face, no matter how ill you feel.
Returning from your latest mission, you could feel every step weighing heavier than the last. The water you had drunk during the mission had left your throat feeling like sandpaper, and a fever had begun to creep up on you. But this was a busy time for everyone, and you couldn't afford to show any weakness. You pushed through, ignoring the throbbing in your head and the chill settling in your bones.
Jiyan was away in Jinzhou for some official business. You didn’t want to bother him with something as trivial as a cold, so when your Pangu terminal rang, you straightened up and forced a cheerful tone.
"Hey, Jiyan!" you greeted, trying to mask the hoarseness in your voice.
"Hello, love," Jiyan's voice came through, warm and comforting. "How was the mission?"
"Exhausting," you replied, attempting a laugh that came out more like a cough. "But nothing I can't handle. Just really tired, you know?"
Jiyan’s keen senses picked up the strain in your voice. "Are you sure you're just tired? You sound a bit off."
"Yeah, yeah, just tired," you reassured him, forcing a smile even though he couldn’t see it. "I’ll be fine after a bit of rest tonight."
"Alright," he said, though his voice carried a hint of doubt. "Make sure you get plenty of rest. Call me if you need anything, okay?"
"Of course. Talk to you soon, Jiyan."
You ended the call and sighed, leaning against the wall for a moment before pushing yourself off to file your mission report. The sooner you finished, the sooner you could collapse into bed.
You were slower than usual as you prepared the report, almost dozing off in between. What would usually take you an hour, took you three this time. As soon as you filed the report, you pushed yourself off the chair, ready to greet your bed. The sky was littered with scars and you could hear the chatter of the Rangers who were allocated to the night shift. By the time you headed towards your allocated room, your vision was starting to blur with fatigue and fever. You barely registered the figure waiting by your door until you got closer.
"Jiyan!?" you whispered, shocked to see him standing there with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
Before you could say anything else, Jiyan closed the distance between you and placed his palm against your forehead, his expression shifting to one of deep concern.
"You’re burning up," he said, his voice soft but firm. "Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?"
"I didn’t want to worry you," you mumbled, leaning into his touch. "You have so much going on already."
Jiyan shook his head, slipping an arm around your waist to support you. "You’re my priority too, love. Come on, let's get you inside."
He guided you into your room, helping you sit down on the edge of the bed. Setting the flowers aside, he went straight into medic mode. He placed a cool cloth on your forehead and fetched a glass of water.
"Drink this slowly," he instructed, holding the glass to your lips. "We need to keep you hydrated."
You took small sips, feeling the cool water soothe your parched throat. "Thank you, Jiyan," you murmured.
He smiled gently, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. "You don’t have to thank me. I’m here to take care of you."
Jiyan then moved to unpack his medicinal gourd, pulling out various items. He gave you some fever-reducing medicine and an antihistamine to ease your symptoms.
"Here, take these," he said, handing you the pills. "And I’ve got some soup cooking for you in my quarters. It’s got ginger and turmeric—good for fighting off infections."
You nodded, taking the medicine obediently. As you settled back against the pillows, you couldn’t help but feel grateful for his presence. "How did you get here so fast?"
"I took the fastest route I could," he replied, his eyes softening as he looked at you. "I knew something was wrong when we talked. I couldn’t just stay in Jinzhou knowing you were unwell."
Your heart swelled at his words, and you reached out to take his hand. "You’re amazing, you know that?"
Jiyan chuckled, bringing your hand to his lips for a gentle kiss. "I just care about you. Now, rest while I finish up the soup."
You closed your eyes, feeling the fever slowly begin to abate under his care. The scent of ginger and turmeric soon filled the room, and before long, Jiyan returned with a steaming bowl of soup.
"Here you go," he said, sitting beside you. "Careful, it’s hot."
He fed you spoonful of the warm, nourishing soup, and you could feel the effects of it. "You didn’t have to come all the way here," you said, feeling tears prick at your eyes
"Of course I did," Jiyan replied, his voice softening. "I can’t focus on anything knowing you’re unwell. Never think you're a bother to me," he continued, his eyes locking onto yours with an intensity that made your heart flutter despite your condition. “You mean everything to me," he said softly. "I hate seeing you like this."
"I’ll be okay," you assured him, reaching out to take his hand. "Especially with you here."
He squeezed your hand gently. "I’m not going anywhere," he promised. "I’ll stay right here and take care of you."
As you finished the soup, Jiyan continued to fuss over you, making sure you were comfortable and had everything you needed. He brought the flowers closer, their sweet scent filling the room and lifting your spirits.
"These are beautiful," you said, admiring the bouquet.
"I thought they might cheer you up," he said, a warm smile spreading across his face.
"They do," you said, feeling a surge of affection for him. "You always know how to make me feel better."
"That’s because I love you," he said simply, brushing a strand of hair from your face.
"I love you too, Jiyan," you whispered as you laid down, your eyes feeling heavier by the minute. "Thank you for coming back…" you said, your voice heavy with sleep.
"I’ll always come back for you," he replied. “Every time.” You felt his lips brush against your forehead as you closed your eyes. And with that, you drifted off into a peaceful sleep, knowing that as long as Jiyan was by your side, you’d always be well taken care of.
SCAR
Headcanons:
Despite his chaotic nature, Scar is utterly obsessed with you. If you so much as sneeze, he’s immediately by your side, eyes wide with concern and hands hovering as if unsure where to start.
The first time you fell sick, you didn’t expect Scar to be so devoted. His usual unserious demeanor disappeared, replaced by a palpable worry that made his antics seem like a distant memory. Even with just a simple migraine, he insisted that you see a medic, his anxiety clear in every word and action.
He constantly checks in on you, whether through calls, texts, or physically being there. He needs to know you’re okay, and his concern manifests in frequent, albeit endearing, interruptions to your day.
Scar is relentless in his encouragement for you to rest and take it easy. He’ll do everything in his power to ensure you don’t overexert yourself, including taking on your responsibilities.
Scar refuses to leave your side when you’re sick. He’ll camp out in your room, insisting on being there for anything you might need, and his presence, though sometimes a bit overwhelming, is undeniably comforting.
Scar's methods of care might be unconventional, ranging from brewing bizarre herbal concoctions to attempting ancient rituals he read about somewhere. Despite their eccentricity, his intentions are always pure—he just wants to see you well again.
Once you start feeling better, Scar continues his care with aftercare rituals that are part sweet and part eccentric. He might insist on daily massages or reciting protective chants to ward off any lingering illness.
The night had been restless, your stomach churning uncomfortably from something you ate the previous evening. As dawn broke, waves of nausea swept over you, accompanied by clammy sweats and uncontrollable shivers. By morning, you were pale and weak, unable to keep anything down.
In your dimly lit room, you clutched your stomach, hoping the queasiness would pass. Scar's usual chaotic presence was nowhere to be seen, which almost felt like a relief in your current state of misery. However, just as you began to resign yourself to a day of suffering alone, the door burst open with a bang.
"Guess what, little lamb!" Scar's voice echoed through the room, filled with a strange mix of excitement and triumph. "I managed to trick a few more Rangers into joining our cause! Can you believe it? They fell for the old 'lost patrol' routine like it was their first day out of the academy!"
You winced at the noise, trying to shield yourself from his exuberance. "Scar, not now," you managed to mutter weakly, your voice barely above a whisper.
But as Scar's gaze swept the room, his excitement faded into pure shock. His eyes widened as he took in your pale complexion, your trembling form, and the obvious distress etched on your face.
"What's going on?" he asked, his voice suddenly serious.
You barely had time to mutter a weak reply before another wave of nausea hit. You hurried to the restroom, barely making it to the toilet before retching once more. Scar followed close behind, his usual exuberance replaced by a rare seriousness as he knelt beside you, holding your hair back and rubbing your back soothingly.
"Are you... pregnant?" he blurted out, his concern mixing with his usual lack of filter.
You shot him a dirty look as you shuddered, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand. "No," you managed to mumble, leaning back against the cool tiles. "Ate something bad..."
"Little lamb, why didn’t you tell me you were feeling like this?" he asked softly, helping you to sit back against the wall.
"I didn’t want you to see me like this," you admitted, feeling embarrassed and vulnerable.
Scar shook his head, brushing a strand of hair from your face. "You think a little sickness is going to scare me away? Tsk.” He looked almost offended. He got up to leave you in the bathroom, only to return a few moments later.
He fetched a glass of water and a damp cloth, gently wiping your face and neck. "You need to stay hydrated," he said, his voice surprisingly gentle. "And rest. I’ll take care of everything else. Let's get you cleaned up, first, Hm?"
Throughout the day, Scar remained by your side, his usual antics subdued by genuine concern. He fetched cool cloths for your forehead, brought you small sips of water to keep you hydrated, and even attempted to brew some bizarre herbal remedy he claimed would settle your stomach.
"You know, I read about this plant that's supposed to cure everything from heartbreak to the plague," he mused, stirring a pot of leaves and roots that smelled surprisingly pleasant. "I figured it might help."
Despite your skepticism, his efforts were oddly comforting. Scar's presence was a constant, his chatter and eccentric care slowly easing your discomfort. He stayed close, ensuring you didn't feel alone in your misery.
As the day wore on and your symptoms began to subside, Scar insisted on continuing his aftercare rituals—massaging your shoulders to relieve tension, reciting what he called protective chants to ward off any lingering illness, and even preparing a simple broth to tempt your appetite. His care was unconventional—his attempts at chanting ancient healing spells were met with your amused disbelief—but his presence was undeniably comforting. He refused to leave your side, camped out on the floor beside your bed with a makeshift nest of blankets and pillows.
As evening fell and you finally managed to keep down some broth, Scar sat beside you, his usual chaos subdued to a quiet vigilance. He brushed a strand of hair from your face, his gaze soft with a rare tenderness.
"You really had me worried, little lamb," he admitted quietly. "I don’t like seeing you like this."
"I’m sorry," you murmured, feeling guilty for not letting him know sooner.
"Don’t apologize," he said firmly, his hand finding yours. "Just promise me you’ll tell me next time. I’m here for you, no matter what."
Despite his eccentricities and chaotic nature, Scar’s devotion to you was undeniable. His antics might drive you crazy on a daily basis, but in moments like these, you couldn’t imagine anyone else by your side.
"You should get some rest," he said gently, tucking the blankets around you a bit tighter. "I’ll be right here, little lamb."
You reached out to squeeze his hand, the nickname now a term of endearment. "I know," you replied softly. "And I appreciate it, Scar."
He smiled, a genuine expression that softened his rugged features. "Anything for you, even the world, should you ask." he murmured, his thumb brushing over your knuckles.
You closed your eyes, feeling the exhaustion pulling you under, but not before whispering a heartfelt thank you to the man who had barged into your life in the most unexpected and chaotic of ways.
"Goodnight, Scar," you murmured, already drifting off.
"Goodnight, little lamb," he whispered back, bringing your hand, closer to his lips, pressing feather light kisses on each of your finger. Scar stayed true to his word, watching over you with a protective gaze that spoke volumes of his love and unwavering devotion

for want of a mackerel
Summary:
During another side-operation, 2B suffers an unexpected lapse in judgement, forcing 9S to temporarily act in her stead despite his lack of combat prowess. What starts as an accident becomes an unintended bonding experience for the two androids. [Ending K]
Rating: T Genre: Hurt/Comfort Characters: 2B, 9S, Devola
a/n: For Day 30 of Whumptober: RECOVERY. Contains spoilers for NieR Automata in regards to 2B, 9S and their dynamic.

2B first received the mackerel in her inbox, attached to Jackass's letter. A long-standing favor she'd been putting off in the interest of pursuing more direct objectives. She directed Pod 042 to file it away.
Fish, 9S explained, were something of a commodity on Earth to androids and machines alike. The large or exotic specimens could yield enough money for a chip capacity expansion or a weapon upgrade. A few eccentric androids kept synthetic kilifish as pets, much to the incredulity of their commanding officers.
The act of fishing was not something 2B had taken into account. A handful of times, 9S would stop by a suitable body of water and demonstrate. Initially 2B concluded it was not necessary to their mission. 9S would contrast mechanical specimens from their organic counterparts. 2B had fished up more metal than live tissue, and a handful of junk that sold well enough at shops to convince her that it was not a pointless expenditure. At the very least, Command had no quarrel with him and 2B saw no reason to chastise 9S so long as the fishing did not impede their directive.
It was only after a couple side operations and an overdue trip to the supply trader within the resistance camp that 2B considered the mackerel and its intended purpose. She'd only meant to purchase a few restorative items. She paged down the holographic menu and noted the mackerel in her inventory. "How much for this?"
"I'll give you five-hundred." The Resistance android paused. "Say, is that a live mackerel?"
"Yes." 2B was unclear as to the desire for clarification. In her view, it was better to have one less item cluttering up her inventory. Jackass wouldn't press it, or else find another unsuspecting android to test out on. Her attention had drifted towards 9S, who was chatting with the unintelligibly fast-talking resistance member with pinkish hair. 2B chose instead to sell some boar meat for twice the value of the mackerel.
They spent the afternoon in the dunes, slaughtering machines. 9S had to remind her to send a status report to the Bunker, which necessitated visiting one of the terminals. There was nothing pressing left to do for the day besides a few side-ops, and Anemone insisted they take a break when 2B politely inquired.
In the spare room set aside for them, 9S shook the sand from his boots and grumbled to himself. 2B called on her Pod to analyze the fish.
Analysis: Mackerel is a common name applied to a number of different species of pelagic fish, mostly, but not exclusively, from the family Scombridae. They are found in both temperate and tropical seas, mostly living along the coast or offshore in the oceanic environment.
"Humans used to eat them," 9S said.
Affirmative. The mackerel is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids and was intensively harvested by humans. Sport fishermen valued the fighting abilities of the king mackerel. However, the flesh of the mackerel spoils quickly and can cause scombroid food poisoning. Accordingly, it should be eaten on the day of capture unless properly refrigerated or cured.
2B stared at the fish. Its eyes were glassy and the texture of its body a disconcerting combination of slimy and smooth.
Alert: Consumption of the mackerel by an android may severely compromise motor functions and is therefore unadvised.
2B pressed her lips into a thin line. "Androids are capable of simulating several human processes."
Affirmative.
"Well, yeah, we possess some capacity, but we're not exactly designed to digest things." She'd been working alongside 9S long enough. He would have rather been at the Bunker where they could take baths. But the Resistance Camp offered no such luxuries. 2B could go on without for a while. "There's a chemical in the mackerel's oils that reacts badly with our bodily fluids. If you're lucky you'll just be paralyzed." He buckled his boots and stood. "It's completely counterintuitive to our mission."
It was inadvisable to disregard 9S or her Pod. "Have the effects been documented on a combat model?"
9S frowned. "What difference does it make?"
2B waited for a direct confirmation. When it was not provided, she said, "I'll try it once. If something happens, backup my current coordinates to the Bunker."
9S stood up. "You're not seriously going to eat it?"
"There's no logical reason for you to eat the fish," said 2B curtly. "Are there any documented cases of death from poisoning in the archives?" 9S hesitated. "Then it should be fine."
The first hour saw no visible fluctuation in her battle performance or perception of her surroundings. Her limbs felt stiff but otherwise unchanged. They went off to the dunes again to sweep up any remaining machine lifeforms. 2B was having trouble dodging and took a blow from one of the bipeds.
Alert: Mobility malfunction detected.
9S was running over to her, kicking up sand. Somehow she'd fallen to her knees. "We can't both use the transport, we'll have to—" 2B seized up, her mouth moved soundlessly as she emitted a strangled, droning noise.
9S grabbed her shoulders before she could fall over. "Don't exert yourself any more than you have to." 2B struggled to comprehend the meaning behind the syllables. "Here—" he hooked her arm over his shoulder, and she attempted to brace herself, leaning against him "—okay. That's good for now."
Gingerly, step-by-step, they began to traverse across the sand. 2B's heels did her no favors in this respect. She had to stoop just to keep up with his pace and the longer they struggled the worse the pain was becoming. Her legs gave out and she pulled 9S with her into the sand, retching but unable to produce anything.
"2B!"
There was a pain in her chest, comparable to a physical compression. She managed to shove herself to a hunched sitting position, trying to breathe, but simply slid down the dune. As 9S reached her, she gestured to her mouth, unable to articulate. 9S grabbed her shoulders.
"What? What's wrong?"
Pod 153 chimed in:
Hypothesis: Unit 2B must expel the foreign agent to avoid further contamination.
"How am I supposed to do that?" 9S demanded, trying his best not to give in to panic. "I can't just—cut her open, there are too many variables."
Suggestion: perform manual override.
"You want me to hack into her?" It was risky in the best of circumstances; hacking a sentient was far more optimal when the subject was not malfunctioning. And a simple override didn't negate the problem of the raw chunk of fish stuck in her digestive tract.
Perform manual override.
9S tapped his fingers to one temple. A sudden lurching motion beyond her control. She fell to all fours, heaving. The meat came up chunky and undigested, smelling worse than it did the first time. If she were any more human-like, 2B might have vomited again from the effluvium itself but lacked the capacity.
She raised her head slightly, bumping his cheek. He didn't seem to notice how close they were. Without thinking, she whispered, "It was my fault."
"I'm just glad it worked," said 9S with a forced air of relief. "For a minute there it looked like we'd have to cut you open."
2B was already sitting up, wiping her mouth. Then lurched again. A dozen different alerts from Pod 042 fired off in tandem. Even with the mackeral out of her system, it was too late to stop the poisoning.
9S had not been programmed for combat. Whenever he tried to express that, she never seemed to understand, just as he had not understood Jackass blowing up the barricade. It was counterproductive to think about Jackass right now but his anger had no other outlet. He would never guess that consuming the fish was a form of flagellation. "2B, I should never have let you eat the damn fish."
2B made another funny noise, but she didn't look pained this time. "It wasn't so bad, you know. Exquisite."
"Shh. You don't want to overexert yourself," said 9S, because the less he heard about the stupid mackerel, the better. "I'm gonna hack into one of those machines and carry you to the Resistance Camp. It'll only take a second." She attempted to affirm but could only seize. 9S cursed. The other stubbies had noticed their activity, eyes flashing red. "Requesting authorization to sync control of Pod 042 with 153."
Pod 042 chimed in: Affirmative.
2B was barely listening. Haptic feedback muted, tiny grains of sand against synthetic skin. The biped came into her vision. She couldn't reach for her weapon at all. Maybe this was just, given what she'd done to him over and over. That he would be unable to save her from her own foolishness. It brought her more pain that enduring his anger.
"Whoa-whoa, it's me!" The biped reached out, its green eyes flickering. "I hacked into one of these guys."
2B couldn't help but exhale before the pain redoubled and she began to seize. The biped lifted her into its arms as if she weighed nothing at all and began to sprint across the dunes.
At the camp, 2B laid on the operating table while Devola got to work. The effect of the sedative was two fold; 2B was aware of her surroundings but effectively paralyzed from the neck down. The newer combat models processed an dopamine imitator but also a failsafe built into their self-destruct function. The digestive function was perfunctory at best and technically incomplete, as all the old records had been lost with the old world. The latest YoRHa models could ingest food but often had trouble breaking down the components as a live human would. Mackerel would congeal the fluid within an android and induce paralysis. Like shoving food into the port of a machine, it would gum up the works and possibly damage it permanently. What possessed their creators to design a fascimile, it was beyond Devola's understanding. A cruel joke at their expense or simple folly.
While Popola tried to get the story out of 9S, who insisted he didn't know what compelled his comrade to eat the fish, Devola was busy making sure 2B remained conscious. Opening up her abdominal cavity. A YoRHa unit possessed synthetic organs in a crude approximation of a human's. Her pale eyes flickered in the direction of the terminal. The spare room.
She had an alarming tolerance to the sedative. Combat models tended to plateau earlier than their Scanner peers, given that they were experiencing a constant influx of dopamine with each successful kill. An expirimental new E-Drug cooked up by some of the units stationed in the desert oasis. It boosted stamina and combat ability, but could produce auditory and visual glitches. Devola and Popola had already tended to half a dozen YoRHa and Resistance androids. No trace of the drug was in 2B's system.
She had eaten the fish of her own volition. Popola had the better bedside manner. Devola attemped the same bright tone that sounded hollow, "9S stopped by earlier."
2B gave the barest sound and her eyes wandered back towards the empty sky. As Devola removed a few half-digested chunks of raw meat from the crude instestinal tract, she said, "You know, it's not uncommon for androids to test the limitations of our anthropormorphic attributes. We were made in the image of our creators, after all. It's only natural we would try to understand them, even if it seem strange at times. Humans don't always act in ways that make logical sense."
2B said nothing. A deadness behind her pale eyes caught Devola by surprise. She dropped the act of geneality.
"Your model is inexpensive to replace compared to your partner. But that's not why you did this, is it?"
Devola wasn't interested in arguing to 9S that 2B was perfectly rational when she ate the fish and on the operating table. 9S's superior intellect precluded him from comprehending the simpler truth. With the capacity for independent thought and simulated emotions, these thoughts and feelings deemed inexpressible would manifest in "irrational" behavior that was, ironically, perfectly reasoned. The motive was not something 2B could articulate, or perhaps she lacked the capability to grasp why she'd acted beyond remorse itself. Dwelling too long on existential questions would not make her a better combat model.
"Well, I guess only you need to know the reason why."
She sewed 2B back up, blotting away the oil so like hemic fluid. With a few taps to her spine and nape, 2B was reactivated.
2B sat up with a muted groan. She turned to face Devola and said, "Where is 9S now?"
A tense silence awaited her in the spare room.
9S insisted on running diagonostics. If not for the stress of their mission earlier, 2B would have thought nothing of it. Laying on her back, 9S's hand on her temple, she heard him muttering to himself, "Maybe a logic virus? No, there's no symptoms...."
The note of frustration in his tone gave her no relief.
2B was already intimate with the make of his model and its vulnerabilities. She'd crushed his windpipe a dozen times, swallowing down the desire to apologize for what should only be duty. She'd run him through with her blade twenty eight times. He would understand one day, but that would mark the end of YoRHa. To him, she need only be a lowly combat model, unsophisticated despite her physical prowess. A superior to trust with his life as she trusted hers to him. She was not an intellectual to share and appreciate all the data he collected from their field missions. That was 21O's job. Another emotionally unavaliable model.
Due to the nature of their assignment, Executioners were subject to severe psychological and memory strain. 2B was the only E Model on record to expressly abstain from direct emotional attachment, both verbally and non-verbally. It was technically redundant as no other YoRHa model need expressly prohibit "emotion", though 2B was never penalized by Command or by 6O, the latter of which simply interpreted this as 2B's austere demeanor.
Killing machines helped to 'blow off steam', to borrow the human expression. Though she would never admit it to 9S or anyone else, 2B possessed ulterior motives beyond satisfying his concern for her safety. Whenever he tried to open up, she had to be cold and focus on the mission. But that didn't mean she was indifferent to him. If she did not appreciate his concern for her well-being and his capabilities, she would not have agreed to let him run diagnostics. She'd only let her guard down because of the damned fish.
"All right, you're clear." 2B got to her feet. 9S wasn't towering over her, but his frame radiated displeasure. "You shouldn't have done something so reckless."
"Your life is worth more to YoRHa. It was for your own safety." He opened his mouth to argue and she persisted, "Between the two of us, I'm far more expendible. The Bunker can afford to transfer a combat model's memories along the network without much fuss. This was a calculated decision in the interest of proving my resistance to mackerel consumption as well as poisoining. To ask you to take such a risk in my stead would be illogical."
9S seemed to relax a little, but it didn't reach his voice. "You're recovering faster than I expected."
"It was thanks to Devola and Popola," said 2B. "As well as you." She turned and tested her legs. No apparent malfunction. "Let's report our findings to Jackass."
"Are you serious?" 9S exploded. "After all the trouble I went through to keep you alive, you're just going to humor her?"
"We've determined the adverse effects of mackerel consumption. Once is enough."
9S's expression did not change. He turned away. 2B hesitated. Wounding him in such a way brought her no pleasure. "I'm sorry that I caused you so much trouble," she said. "I'm fortunate to be assigned to you, 9S. But I would never have asked you to take such a risk."
A faint tremor in his shoulders. 9S mastered it. "I understand that. I'll touch base with Command."
2B smiled to his back. "Thank you."

Natural remedies - storage of cure for ailments
Do you visit site here remember how your grandma used to fix a mixture and cure all your ailments? Whether it was cold, cough, fever or a simple wound, she had the cure for it all.
She would pull out ingredients from her secret box and you would be cured! Did you know that her secret box actually included some natural remedies that were passed on to her from her mother? For years people have been hearing about the benefits of fish oil. Earlier the only source was through fish but as time passed, this ingredient was converted into tablets and prescribed as supplement.
What is it?
This is a useful ingredient that is found in fish like trout, mackerel, and herring to name a few. It includes omega-3 fatty acids which usually help in heart and blood ailments.
What are the benefits?
This ingredient has numerous benefits. Some of them are as follows.
Protection
It has been proved by medical researchers that omega-3 fatty acids protects people from heart and blood ailments which are triggered by air pollution. With the air pollution on the rise, this is by far the best way to protect oneself from the hazardous effects of air pollution.
Anti-ageing
Studies by medical researchers show that proper intake of omega-3 fatty acids over a period of time helps fight ageing.
Slim you
Good news for all those who have been trying desperately to lose weight. It has been found that a diet; exercise and fish supplement is a great combination for losing weight. Therefore researchers state that the insulin-sensitizing ability of DHA, the anti-inflammatory benefits of EPA and the fat burning ability of both makes this supplement a good option for weight loss and healthy body.
Decreases symptoms of osteoarthritis
Inflammation caused due to swelling and pain can be cut down by taking proper dosage of omega-3 fatty acids.
Helps preserve lean muscle
The body burns calories even when we are at rest (sleeping). Therefore, your diet should include all the nutrients that will not lead to excess muscle loss during this process. It has been observed that those who include omega-3 fatty acids in their diets do not lose lean muscle mass when at rest.
Improved bones
Researchers state that omega-3 appears to be a vital element of healthy bones. Further it also helps maintain bone mineral density. Above all these supplements, one must also add in a regular strength training exercise routine to prevent osteoporosis.
Brain power and memory enhancement
Studies have found that there is a connection between omega-3 fatty acids supplements and cognitive function of humans. Those who had regular intake of this ingredient possessed better memory. They also showed better brain power and their thinking was deeper than the rest. Further, they showed better concentration than those who did not have omega-3 fatty acids. Thus, it can easily be stated that the lack of this ingredient can cause your brain to age faster. One can also lose memory and thinking abilities faster.

Alan Wake (revisited)
It's extremely Finnish that a company called Remedy has for its logo… a bullet.
2. Having interacted with the writer rots parts of the Alan Wake Experience. I still recall his annoying rebuttal to the effect of "we wrote it just for that one" after I personally told him the main game's alright but the DLCs feel like leftover shit.
3. NORDIC WALKING AND OMEGA THREE FATTY ACIDS ARE GOOD FOR YOUR HEART!
4. Point four is something we Finns had to endure, day by day, in our adverts and billboards for years standing during the 1990s. Suffer, fuckers.
5. The fucking thermos flasks! For the longest time you could only get these badly-designed glass thermos flasks in Finland. They'd stop preserving heat properly throughout the first 12 months of use and would eventually be outdone by basically anything you can pour a drink in, wait and consume. Including pewter wads.
6. It's a little miserable having read the Alan Wake writer's blog and interacted a little with him back in his days of activeness (the blog name was Fun Pastimes for Stupid Children, which was his view of video games, by the by, and these days it's just empty) and finding out all these tidbits of light that never got into the game – and would even out portions of it's dull surprise.
5. I still can't get over the fact that Sam Lake did that to his name (he's really Sami Järvi, dude just made up an English pen name) to the tune of David Cage. Yes, when you're playing Remedy games, remember that the company is basically a Finnish Quantic (Dream) Break.

Anti-inflammatory lifestyle update
As I said earlier on my blog, I want to follow an anti-inflammatory lifestyle. For someone like me, it's absolutely possible, and I just need some fine-tuning here and there. The true area that's going to need a lot of attention, care, and modification is my anxiety. Excess anxiety and stress cause inflammation which can manifest as eczema. My anxiety is not my fault of course. The fact that I might be on the spectrum and just found that out at the age of 29 goes to show I've never knew the root cause of my random anxiety and anger outbursts and thought there was something wrong with me.
The steps to following and living an anti-inflammatory lifestyle are as follows:
Eat an anti-inflammatory diet. Eating a diet rich in berries, leafy greens, broccoli, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, fish, unprocessed dairy, sprouted or whole grains, turmeric/black pepper, nuts, chia seeds, olive oil, avocados, dark chocolate, green tea, and foods rich in fiber will do wonders. I named a few of the anti-inflammatory foods I enjoy, but there are more. Also limiting intake of sugar, processed white bread/grains, foods cooked/fried in refined vegetable oils, too much salt, omega-6 rich foods, trans fats, and processed meats like hot dogs and bacon (I don't like meat so I'm not worried about this for myself). I do want to meet with a dietitian eventually to ask about how to add on to my anti-inflammatory diet and how to indulge/eat out wisely. Because my goal is to add and not subtract, but I obviously want to limit processed foods. I notice my skin is less inflamed when I eat the above anti-inflammatory foods. My skin is not clear now, but I noticed it clear up a bit when I started drinking green tea this week.
Supplement with anti-inflammatory nutrients that are hard to get from diet alone. These include vitamin D, omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA from fish), and even zinc in some cases.
Drink enough water. I already drink around 2 L of water daily. Also getting it in the form of green tea is fine (I drink plain green tea no sugar, milk, honey).
Avoid drinking alcohol. I know wine can be anti-inflammatory, but other alcohols can be terrible and I don't drink to begin with. I'm going to avoid alcohol altogether.
Avoid smoking.
Get enough sleep each night. From my experience, I need 7-8 hours.
Exercise. I walk a lot, around 8-10k steps a day. I also started exercising this week and did a no jumping HIIT workout for around 15 minutes, combined with a 5 minute warmup and 5 minute cooldown. It was a Youtube video and I felt like the difficulty was a 5-6 out of 10. I want to do some occasional workouts like this that allow me to sweat and challenge/build my muscles. But without overdoing it or experience pain. I'll go for a duration I can tolerate (15-20 minutes) and will modify, slow down on, or skip a workout I find to challenging (anything with side planks or leg circles for example). And the goal is to do these 2-3 times a week. Once again diet is way more important than exercise. I should mainly focus on my diet, and also exercise, but it's effects are not as important as that of diet. So the goal here is to exercise, but not to make it a top priority or a big challenge. I'm here to regulate my insulin/metabolic wellness, reduce inflammation, and build muscle, not to become a super athlete or power lifter.
Maintain a healthy body weight. Being in a healthy body fat/weight range maintains good health and reduced inflammation. From my experience, intermittent fasting helps so much with this. I've been intermittent fasting since last December. For 6 months straight, I want to say that out of all those days, I think I only broke my fast 4 days. A few times to take flaxseed oil in the middle of a skin flareup at night, the first few days I started IF because I got hungry in the middle of the night, on work days where I had busy mornings and couldn't eat until ~2, and on mornings where I had blood work done. Besides that I've been sticking to it for 6 months and do not feel deprived nor hungry nor dizzy at all. Even with a busy work schedule.
Stress relief. I think we all know that stress is super inflammatory. Unfortunately I do struggle with stress and anxiety and have for a long time. It's a combination of not being taught the best coping skills growing up, childhood trauma, and possible being on the autism spectrum (I'm going to do a screening for this soon). If I am autistic, then I'm going to get as much access to resources as possible so I can get the help I need. I know anxiety and stress and rigidity, social anxiety and hypochondria are going to be a normal part of my life, but I just need any help I can get.
Gut health. I've been working with a doctor to improve my gut inflammation so my eczema improves. From my experience I did notice some improvement. But at the end of the day, an accumulation of inflammation triggers it and not just 1 of these things. Gut health is one piece of the puzzle, but it is important. I'm still on the lookout for a go to routine/supplement that can help maintain good gut health. Edit: aloe juice!
Exposure to toxins. We are all exposed to "toxins" on a daily basis, including chemicals and metals. I'll speak to my doctor about this, especially in the context of liver health.
Be around those you love and avoid those who hurt and stress you out (much easier said than done and I'll add more to this).
Take steroid shots and prednisone when needed.
For now, I'll take my vitamin D, fish oil, and multivitamin. As well as the morning aloe juice.
I modified my diet this week to include more anti-inflammatory foods and am even going to try some healthy vegetarian dishes my mom and sister make. I know some people with eczema rave about elimination diets and how cutting out gluten, dairy, eggs, nightshades, caffeine, citrus fruits, and foods high in histamine cleared their skin. I know that some people out there have benefited from elimination diets, but I personally hate these diets. I would much rather focus on adding anti-inflammatory foods and limiting my intake of inflammatory foods like sugars, processed/refined oils, trans fats, and processed white bread rather than eliminating foods that random people on the internet said were "inflammatory". These foods can be a rich source of vitamins and minerals, so I'm really hesitant to exclude them from my diet. The goal is to add a lot of anti-inflammatory food sources to my diet rather than taking foods out.
There are many diets out there, but I believe an anti-inflammatory diet would be best for me to follow. Again I'm going to meet with a dietitian to get some tips and tricks on how to work with it. I've been hearing about different diets for years, but only heard about an anti-inflammatory diet last year when I went to my women's health doctor for a pelvic exam (inflammation causes bad period cramps which I used to struggle with but they've gotten better).
I already drink a lot of water daily and sleep well. I also do not smoke nor drink at all, and I'm maintaining a healthy body weight through IF and walking.
I see exercise as a way to improve my metabolic health and build muscle. It is anti-inflammatory. But it's not very high on the priority list like diet and body-weight is. But it's great for building muscle mass and sweating, both which improve overall metabolism and insulin sensitivity. I'm going to do doable workouts that are 5-6 out of 10 challenging. No jumping, no heavy weights. 2-3 times a week for 15-20 minutes including a 5 minute warmup and 5 minute cooldown.
I am susceptible to anger and anxiety, and I'm going to do an autism screening soon and will get the help I need to navigate in life. Knowing that autism may be a possibility lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders because it explains why there is something "unconventional" in the way I behave that isn't bad nor wrong nor problematic, nor is it a sign of laziness, failure, or incompetence. I know getting the help I need will help a lot with my anxiety, and therefore, inflammation/skin flareups.
I'll add more to point 12. Thankfully the people I interact with on a daily basis do not stress me out that much. And I'm happy I have a supportive community here and that I reunited with my old friends from college. I feel less lonely and empty.
My skin is getting better, and I know that adopting anti-inflammatory habits help. I know that adding anti-inflammatory foods to my diet this week (especially the green tea) and knowing that I might be autistic (lifted a huge weight off my shoulders) made me feel much better this week and my skin was less inflamed. Exercising is a great habit too. I'm going to heal and follow this anti-inflammatory lifestyle. The most challenging part will be the anxiety management and healing, which will take a lot of time. I have a lot to heal from, especially after doing a testing/getting a diagnosis. I'll be okay. My mom and sister are here to help. I also have hypochondria, which they will help with too.

What Is Hemp?
It’s A Trillion Dollar Cash Crop.
youtube
Hemp is a name given to a strain of the cannabis plant.
Hemp is a name given to cultivars of the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa) that have been selected over many generations for fiber and seed production. Most hemp cultivars contain less than 1.5% THC, a narcotic compound that has the potential for abuse in high concentrations. Cannabis sativa cultivars selected and developed for their drug properties, referred to as marijuana, or dagga, can have a THC content of 3%-25%. Hemp is a bast fiber, producing its fibers in the stalk similar to flax, kenaf, and sun hemp.
Multiple Uses
Hemp fiber and seed are used to produce a wide range of commodities including food and beverage products, fiberboard, insulation, paper, composites, textiles, carpets, animal bedding and feed, cosmetics, body-care products, soaps, paints, fuels, and medicines.
Hemp Seed Food and Beverage Products
Hemp seed contains about 25% protein, 30% carbohydrates, & 15% insoluble fiber. Hemp seed is reported to contain more easily digestible protein than soybeans. Hemp seed contains all 8 amino acids essential to human nutrition. Hemp seed is high in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, carotene, sulfur, iron and zinc, as well as Vitamins A, E, C, B1, B2, B3, and B6.
Hemp seed imported into the United States or Canada must be steam sterilized at between 180 degrees F and 212 degrees F for 15 minutes to prevent sprouting. Many US facilities receive imported viable seed under customs bond, steam it, and release it to the consignee or customer with a Certificate of Sterilization.
Hemp food and beverage products include hemp oil and seed, flour, pasta, cheese, tofu, salad dressings, snacks, sweets, hemp protein powders, soft drinks, beer, and wine. Hemp beer can be made from the seed, flowers, sprouts, and seed cake that is a by-product of oil pressing. Hemp beer is produced and sold in Europe and the United States of America.
Hemp Oil
Hemp seed is 25% to 35% oil, and is one of the oils lowest in saturated fats (8%). Hemp seed oil is the richest source of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids (80%). Hemp seed oil is the only common edible seed oil containing Omega-6 Gamma-Linolenic Acid. Hemp seed oil is very fragile and not suitable for cooking.
Pressed hemp seed oil must be bottled immediately under oxygen-free conditions, and must be refrigerated in dark, airtight containers.
Fiberboard
Hemp fiberboard tested by Washington State University Wood Materials and Engineering Laboratory proved to be two and one half times stronger than wood MDF composites, and the hemp composite boards were three times more elastic.
Hemp herds can be used in existing mills without major changes in equipment. Russia, Poland and other Eastern European countries already manufacture composite boards from hemp and other plant materials.
Pulp and Paper
The major use of hemp fiber in Europe is in the production of specialty papers such as cigarette paper, archival paper, tea bags, and currency paper. The average bast fiber pulp and paper mill produces 5,000 tons of paper per year. Most mills process long bast fiber strands, which arrive as bales of cleaned ribbon from per-processing plants located near the cultivation areas.
Composites
Until the 1930’s, hemp-based cellophane, celluloid and other products were common, and Henry Ford used hemp to make car doors and fenders. Today hemp herds can be used to make new plastic and injection-molded products or blended into recycled plastic products. Hemp fibers are introduced into plastics to make them stiffer, stronger and more impact resistant. Hemp plastics can be designed that are hard, dense, and heat resistant, and which can be drilled, ground, milled, and planed.
Hemp plastic products currently made include chairs, boxes, percussion instruments, lampshades, bowls, cups, spectacles, jewelry, skateboards, and snowboards.
Hemp Animal Care
Hemp horse bedding and cat litter are produced and sold in Europe. After oil is extracted from the hemp seed, the remaining seed cake is about 25% protein and makes an excellent feed for chicken, cattle, and fish. Chickens fed hemp seed on a regular basis have been found to produce more eggs, without the added hormones used in most poultry plants.
Fuels
Hemp seed oil can be combined with 15% methanol to create a substitute for diesel fuel which burns 70% cleaner than petroleum diesel. Hemp stalks are rich in fiber and cellulose, making them conducive for conversion into ethanol and methanol fuels that have a higher octane than gasoline and produce less carbon monoxide. These biomass fuels are also free from sulfur, and do not require the addition of lead and benzene used to boost octane and improve engine performance in fossil fuels. Ethanol holds condensation, eliminating oxidation and corrosion, and is reported to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 30%.
Hemp has been studied in Ireland as a biomass fuel to generate electricity. Hemp has been reported to yield 1000 gallons of methanol per acre year. Hemp stalk can be converted to a charcoal-like fuel through a thermochemical process called pyrolysis. Henry Ford operated a biomass pyrolitic plant at Iron Mountain, Michigan in the mid-20th.
Paints and Varnishes and Binders
Until the 1930's, most paints were made from hemp seed oil and flax seed oil. Hemp oil makes a durable, long lasting paint that renders wood water-resistant. Hemp herds have the potential to make glues for composite construction products that are non-toxic and superior to binders currently used. With this technology, industry can produce composite products where all components are derived from hemp.
Markets for Hemp Pulp
Some paper manufacturers already have the equipment to process decorticated hemp fiber into paper. The leading European supplier of non-wood pulp, Celesa, currently produces about 10,000 tons per year of pulp from hemp. The use of hemp pulp in blends with recycled fiber of other non-wood fibers is growing. Tests by several European pulp and paper producers suggest that hemp pulp may replace cotton cost effectively in several specialty paper applications.
Potential Markets for Medical Application of Low-THC Hemp Cultivars
Many cannabis medicines have been produced using cannabis cultivars high in THC, and there has been medical research into cannabis that is low in THC and high in CBD. CBD is a cannabinoid that does not have many of the psychoactive effects associated with THC. CBD has been used to treat the following medical conditions: epilepsy, dystonic movement disorders, inflammatory disorders, pain, chronic insomnia, chorea, cerebral palsy, and Tourette's syndrome. According to a July 1998 report by the National Institute of Health, CBD may hold promise for preventing brain damage in strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and even heart attacks and has been found to prevent brain cell death in an experimental stroke model.

The Nutritional Value of Quinoa Flour
You don't need us to tell you that quinoa is really really good for you, but just in case here's a recap. Rich in Protein Quinoa flour stands out in the world of gluten-free alternatives primarily due to its high protein content. Quinoa is in fact made up of 22% protein. Unlike many other actual grains, quinoa is a complete protein, which simply means it contains all nine of the essential amino acids. Pretty exceptional for a plant-based protein! Each serving provides a substantial amount of protein, making it an excellent choice for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone looking to add more plant-based protein to their diet. Unlike traditional grain flours, this high protein content also contributes to the feeling of fullness, making meals more satisfying and aiding in weight management. This powerful little pseudo-grain is a particularly potent source of the amino acid lysine, which aids in tissue repair. Vitamins and Minerals Quinoa flour is not only protein-rich but packed with a variety of essential vitamins and minerals. It contains significant amounts of B vitamins, a wide spectrum of E vitamins, plus a host of minerals including iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium. A rich source of silica, it can help keep skin strong and elastic. It also has powerful antioxidant properties provided by the E vitamins and flavonoids that appear in high concentrations. Omega-3 and Fatty acids Also rich in essential fatty acids, and particularly anti-inflammatory omega-3s, quinoa flour is a rich source of oleic acid which is thought to help lower LDL cholesterol. Fibre Content A fantastic source of dietary fibre. Fibre not only keeps everything moving along nicely but also helps to control blood sugar levels by slowing the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. Plus, high-fibre foods like quinoa flour can help to manage weight by promoting a feeling of fullness and reducing overall calorie intake. So, not only does it provide a gluten-free, protein-packed alternative to traditional flours, but can also contribute to digestive health, blood sugar control, and weight management with its high fibre content. Gluten-Free And of course, one of the best things about quinoa is that it is gluten-free. Is Quinoa Low-Carb? Quinoa is often thought to be a great choice for those following a low-carb diet. Yet it is important to understand that while quinoa is lower in carbs than some types of grains, it is not strictly a low-carb food. A cup of cooked quinoa contains around 40 grams of carbs, which is more than the daily intake suggested by some low-carb diets. That being said, it's a complex carbohydrate, which means it digests slower than simple carbs and offers sustained energy without causing a rapid spike in blood sugar. Therefore, while not a low-carb food in the strictest sense, it can still be a healthier choice compared to many other grains and is enjoyed by many people following a balanced, healthy diet.
Cooking and Baking with Quinoa Flour
So, while it is good to know just how nutritional this stuff is, what we really want to know is how to cook with it. Right? We will be looking at these things in more detail over time, but here's a quick overview to get you started. The basics of cooking and baking with quinoa flour In the realm of gluten-free flour, quinoa flour is high in protein and has a high absorption rate. If you remember from our in-depth guide to using gluten-free flours, these flours can be grouped into two categories. These are protein flours and starches. High protein flours often have more pronounced flavours than starches but they do lend strength and elasticity to a bake. Starches, on the other hand, contribute little in the way of flavour yet they add a fluffy light texture to the heavier protein flours. Just as some quinoa can be slightly bitter, but not all, the same goes for its flour. Again, the flavour can range from profoundly earthy to pleasingly nutty. As with most gluten-free flours, this flour is best used alongside other varieties to get the best balance between texture and flavour for your particular recipe needs. That said, your choice of flour will depend very much on what you are making, so there are times when you can directly substitute for all-purpose wheat flour. Substituting quinoa flour in recipes Getting to grips with using gluten-free flour is always a bit of a baptism by fire. Recipes and suggestions should be used as a guideline only, largely because such flours can be wholly unpredictable. There is nothing more frustrating than a tried and tested recipe that does not deliver results. There will be some cases where it is safer to begin with a 1:1 substitution for wheat flour than others. Remember that the protein content makes it denser, and also means it will absorb more water. Gluten is required to build strength, elasticity, and structure into a bake so it is really important in bread making yet can lead to toughness in a pastry. Cakes need little in the way of gluten, yet also require a certain amount of bulk and fluffiness. And then there is flavour. Quinoa flour has a pronounced flavour. If you find that it tends towards bitterness, then it can be toasted in a moderate oven for about 10 to 15 minutes before cooling and using. So, whilst you may not want to make a delicate Victoria sponge with quinoa flour, it could be perfect for that parmesan pastry you have in mind. Or a more robustly flavoured banana muffin. So our advice is to begin with a 1:1 ratio in recipes where it may seem appropriate. Like a pastry or a muffin. If you find it too dry, then use a little less flour, or a touch more liquid. Sauces and batters rely more on the liquid content of the recipe. So substitute your flour slowly, gradually adding more until you reach the desired consistency. Tips for cooking and baking with quinoa flour Test small batches first: Before using quinoa flour in large quantities, consider trying it in smaller recipes. This allows you to understand its unique characteristics and adjust your main recipe accordingly. Blend with other flours: Quinoa flour alone may not suit all recipes. Try blending it with other gluten-free flours to create a balance of flavour and texture. Adjust liquid levels: Quinoa flour tends to absorb more liquid than wheat flour. Keep an eye on your batter or dough and be prepared to add extra liquid if it seems too dry. Store properly: Keep your quinoa flour in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Proper storage preserves the flour's taste and extends its shelf life. Cooked quinoa flour: If the flavour of quinoa flour is too strong, try toasting it in the oven for 10-15 minutes before cooling and using. This can help to reduce bitterness. Use in savoury recipes: Quinoa flour can be a wonderful addition to savoury recipes like flatbreads, pizza dough, or pasta, where its unique flavour can shine. Healthy baking: Use quinoa flour in recipes where health is a priority. It is protein-rich and offers a nutritious alternative to traditional flour. Quinoa flour in bread-making It's a whole other subject, but the protein content of quinoa flour makes it an excellent contender in the gluten-free bread stakes. It will need to be used alongside other flours though so we will explore this more fully at a later date. To sum up, it would certainly seem that even for those without gluten-related disorders, quinoa flour offers a change of pace from traditional flours, allowing for experimentation with diverse, nutrient-rich alternatives in the kitchen. Have you seen our other gluten-free flours?

Animal Crossing Fish Dish Friday - #13
Brought to you by a marine biologist and one of those fishy buzzwords...
CLICK HERE FOR THE AC FISH EXPLAINED MASTERPOST!
Sardines in Oil
In ACNH: 1. Fish up an Anchovy. 2. Cook that 1 Anchovy at a stove.
In Real Life: from France, Spain, Portugal - lots of countries got in on canning their region's small, oily fish for the masses throughout history.
Fish of Choice: I'm not even going to provide a recipe here, because this is something you can simply buy for very cheap at the grocery store. However, I will say that reading the label is important here - lots of oily fish come traditionally in a can or jar, like sardines, but also mackerel and anchovies. Make sure you're getting the right thing.
Additionally, "sardine" is not actually a precise name for a group of fish, but rather refers to several fish that are canned as "sardines" - depending on where they come from, they can be herring, pilchard, or another small, oily fish. (This is not a case of illegal labeling, fyi.) In ACNH, the fish in the jar is actually an anchovy, which can happen IRL. You get the same benefits (as I outline under the cut) but they may be different in taste or texture, and for some people (not me) that is super important. So, if that's you, just be aware.
OK. So. You've heard that fish is really good for you. And if you've heard that, then you've probably heard this term before -
Omega-3 Fatty Acids.
It's something fish have and everyone says that you need it, but I realize no one really explains what it is or why it's important. So, I'm going to make the type of post I want to see in the world and EXPLAIN, as I do.
What is Omega-3 Fatty Acid? Without getting out the chemistry textbook, it's a specific, essential fat your body needs to function, just like vitamins and minerals and general calories.
What does Omega-3 Fatty Acid do for me? Omega-3's aid in the formation of cell membranes, and support brain, eye, and cardiac health, and helps in the development of these things in babies. However, the jury is still out about how effective taking Omega 3 supplements (like Fish Oil pills) actually is. There are a lot of sources that say a lot of different things, as per usual with dietary advice. My best advice is to get your Omega-3s and all other essential "body ingredients" through the food you eat. Eating healthier, like dropping the soda and fast food, and replacing problem areas in your diet with healthy alternatives is a great start. And remember that too much of anything, even a good thing, can be bad.
Where can I get my Omega-3's??? Just like with your vitamins and minerals, your body doesn't synthesize these fats on its own - you need to get them from your diet. There are 3 kinds of Omega 3 fatty acids, and each can be found in certain foods. Luckily, you only have to worry about one of them - ALA. Once you obtain that one, your body can actually use it to synthesize the other two - EPA and DHA. Omega-3s are synthesized within plants, and animals that are rich in Omega-3s get them from plants, too. So, when you're picking out your Omega-3-rich meats, you're going to want to choose animals that consume plants directly (like grass-fed cows or the small, planktivorous (plankton-eating) filter-feeding fish like anchovies and other sardines). Omega-3s are packed into nuts and seeds as well, so feel free to be a hamster about it, too.
And there you have it! Bon appetite!

Black Cumin Seed Oil: Uses & Benefits of this Powerful Medicine
(FYI-This is a blog I wrote years ago for my friend Sky Kubby's online store/blog "Medicinal Foods" and I just realized I never actually posted the blog on my own blog! I absolutely love Black Cumin Seed oil and believe in its healing powers.... Enjoy!)
Being a native to the Middle East and South West Asia, the cultivation of this Nigella sativa can be traced back over 3, 000 years, to Ancient Egypt. This seed is actually not even related to the “Cumin” seed that we know of, which resembles caraway, so its name can be misleading.
Even the prophet Mohammed proclaimed Black Seed as “a remedy for all diseases except death.” Black Seeds with honey, an ancient recipe, which was found in King Tutankhamen’s tomb, is still used my many people to this day for digestion, respiratory ailments and more.
Black Seeds are used in many dishes in the Middle East, as well as India, yet it is argued by some that the cooking of the seeds may decrease some of the medicinal aspects. Others believe that the tempering of the spice is what brings out the medicinal qualities.
Consuming the ground up black seeds can be helpful for easing digestive troubles, flatulence, clearing parasites, and have also become an alternative treatment to battling cancer. However, many prefer the oil for economic reasons and wider range of use. Simply, with the oil, you can get more of a potent dose with a smaller amount.
There are so many potential nourishing and restorative qualities of this precious oil, but one needs to know what to look for as the consumer to get a good product.
First of all, be sure the oil you use is cold pressed and organic, to assure the integrity and purity.
Second, due to certain chemical constituents present in the oil, such as the Omega fatty acids, this oil (similarly to flax oil) should not be heated as these constituents can be chemically altered and become disadvantageous to the body.
Third, the proper storage of this oil would be in a dark colored, preferably glass bottle and to keep it cool or refrigerate it, especially after opening. A daily recommended dose is 1 teaspoon of oil, and for more medicinal effects, not around too much food.
It can be taken in capsules, or simply swallowed from a spoon. Using this oil on the skin and hair is deeply nourishing, however the smell is quite strong (in a spicy and savory way) so combining essential oils may help to create a most supreme healing, anointing oil.
Autoimmune disease and cancer are huge problems in today’s society. Thymoquinone, one of the chemical constituent in Black Seed Oil, is of great interest to scientists, because its been shown to actually kill cancer cells, act as an anti-inflammatory and stimulate Opioid receptors which could help treat or prevent food allergies.
Even the big corporation Nestlé applied for a patent in 2010 which would protect their extraction process and the use of this chemical from Nigella sativa, which expectedly caused mass protest and controversy from upset people who felt a big corporation should not be able to own and control a natural chemical or people’s right to use it.
The knowledge and use of Black Seed Oil is becoming very common these days, just look it up on the internet!
There are oil pulling blends which use this oil , luxurious body washes, and even a “Kardashian Beauty” brand of oil for the hair!
The truth is, this oil alone can be used for a wide range of things, and is revered by the ancient and modern healers and scientists.
Lastly, I'd like to leave the readers with an image of this beautiful flower from which these precious black seeds come from. It may look familiar to you because, perhaps, its relative "Love in a mist" flower is already growing in your garden. If so, why not make some space in there for Nigella sativa too.

Did you Know? Spinach was first cultivated in ancient Persia and was introduced to Europe by the Arabs. It was first recorded in English as spinnege in 1390. The name 'Spinach' is thought to come from the Latin word 'Spinacia', which means 'spiny', a reference to the prickly nature of the plant. The name Spinage, or Spynage, is thought to have been used because the plants would be held together by the long tapering tender shoots and cooked up together.Spinach is an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, manganese, and vitamin A. Spinach also provides other vitamins and minerals in smaller amounts including vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium. Spinach has a high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which has been shown to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of death from heart disease. its helps for good vision, healthy skin, promote bone health and improve great immunity system to our body. #spinach #spinachforhealth #spinachfordays #spinachforstrength #spinachforspeed #spinachforskin #spinachforhair #spinachforimmunity #spinachforbones #spinachforall
