Okay Spooky, PLEASE tell us about the Broken Shell AU lore (when you have the time of course). We've been seeing little bits of it for so long!

OHH, BROKEN SHELL AU MY BELOVED OLDIE

It must be I think the first or second AU I ever made for this game some years ago. It's the classic post-embrace the void ending AU.

Hornet, although reluctant and wary at first, helps The Hollow Knight and nurses them back to health in a little make-shift but in the Greenbath area, close to the Forgotten Crossroads for easy access to the hot springs which they used to heal. Why there? Idk, I think I just liked the greenery.

THK passes out for a good few days while Hornet takes care of them and when they finally wake up, despite being in an extreme amount of pain, unable to see and afraid, they still insisted on acting hollow. Slowly though, they recover, at least physically, and all the while she's taking care of them Hornet's also running all around the kingdom looking for Ghost and taking care of other things now that people are recovering and the dreamers are awake.

Once they've recovered just a little more though, something starts pulling on THK to go deeper into the kingdom, and when they can move finally they decide to follow that calling. Hornet of course tries to drag them back, but they're surprisingly strong even when injured and eventually, they end up at the junk pit. It starts with a little skirmish as both THK and Ghost are startled before they calm the hell down and realise who the other is. Hornet steps in, happy to see Ghost again even though they appear to be a shade now, and attempts to break the awkwardness by introducing them to THK - only for Ghost to float over and hug them, much to THK's surprise too as they had expected it to hate them or at the very least be angry.

So, long story short, the three siblings end up living together, eventually Ghost gets their shell fixed up by the mask maker, and they choose a name for The Hollow Knight - which was Shelly (because at this point I felt too mean calling them Hollow, so Shelly it is). They also bullshit about THK dying because Shelly does NOT want to deal with the emotional turmoil of meeting the Dreamers or Ogrim or literally anybody they know, at least while they're still recovering.

Eventually, though, they learn the truth, and much to Shelly's surprise and relief aren't angry with them.

Much later on, the question of who the next monarch should be arises and they eventually end up with Shelly being the only legitimate candidate (Hornet couldn't be thanks to some political mess between Deeonest and Hallownest, and Ghost would rather go through the Path of Pain 1000 times over than be a ruler of anything). At first, Shelly is terrified about the prospect and refuses, but after getting a ton of reassurance and with the promise of getting help from the Dreamers, they agree.

They couldn't bring the palace back from the dream realm so they just built a new one, a much smaller one in the City of Tears.

But it's mostly a classic healing arc AU for the three siblings tbh, mostly THK.

Also, it's worth noting that Shelly is disabled. They're completely blind in their right eye and can see some blurred shapes and light in the left one, which is the result of living with the fuckin sun in their head for god knows how long. They also suffer from chronic pain and back problems, and at their worst, they cannot take care of themself or even get up from their bed without assistance. They obviously don't have an arm either but eventually get a prosthetic one made for them. They still can hold up on their own in a fight - they're a god, after all - and even learned to fight by relying on their hearing rather than sight, but they're still not as strong or agile as they once were.

The bow covering their eye was from Hornet. When they were recovering she tied their bandages into a bow to cheer them up and they liked it so much they decided to do that with silk after their shell/eye healed. They also have a good relationship with the dreamers and even develop a fatherly relationship with Lurien, because they deserve a good father figure god damn it.

Oh, Ghost also eventually becomes Shelly's knight when they grow up. Hornet obviously takes over as the queen of Deepnest eventually and ever since then Hallownest's and Deeonest's relationship couldn't have been better, considering their rulers are siblings and get along swimmingly.

Game Night: CHAIN ATTACK!!!

i am,,, withering away but ITS DONE ITS DONE IM FREE FROM THE CURSE (<<< still haunted by wips) clocking in at 32+ hours, this sucker has been getting pushed around for 10 months-

while theres some things i would have done differently if i could redo this from scratch, i still had a BLAST cramming in as much detail as i could tolerate >:) some highlights / cut ideas / ramblings are below the cut, but please zoom for details! (if tumblr doesnt shred it to bits)

gonna be real i locked so hard onto drawing ripped jeans that i forgot i could have just shoved legend into a skirt and called it a day

SOCKS. SOCKS. the amount of Joy anytime i figured out how to personalize them with game references: legend (hibiscus), twilight (ordon goats), and four (force gems)

i WAS going to put time in a turtleneck, but had an epiphany and started digging for the most obnoxious hawaiian shirts i could find,,, ft. a sea flower (wind waker) and a saturation boosted plumm (twilight princess)!

speaking of if i ever say im going to draw a cableknit sweater again, somebody PLEASE shake some sense into me- warriors sweater was a NIGHTMARE since my art program has an astonishing lack of good brushes (and yet here i am still using it)

Fics that you should read before Arthur comes back: clown edition

Now I know we might all be clowns, and that they're probably playing with us as usual, but honest to God I don't care. I am going to get my hopes up because I have been doing exactly that for the past lord knows how long. So better stay consistent, ok? Better remain true to the cause.

Now here are some post-canon fics that the writers should put into consideration if they know what's good for them.

1. These Ghosts Might Be Mine by @peaceheather. 68K, G.

The only thing I wrote in my bookmarks over this was that it's "the ending we deserved". Pretty sure that sums up exactly what I want to say. It's not just your ordinary time travel fix-it fic, but one that is done with such brilliance that it leaves you marvelling in awe at times. You must do yourself a favour and read for this author if you actually want to get a good understanding of the characters past canon.

2. Seo Gaestlufe/The Soul's Love series by flowerofnettles. 180K, T/E.

I know how hesitant some are when it comes to series, but listen. This one is simply not long enough from how GOOD it is! I rarely read wip fics, (it's now complete) but I genuinely loved living a journey with the author while it was being written, and I felt the amount of love and passion the author spent on it. What a creation, honestly. It's one of the very best out there.

3. I will turn your fear into a handful of dust by @regulusrules. 1K, G.

I am biased, ok? I want my own happy ending for them. I want to see them grow old and weary together. I want them alive. And if what it takes is a 1k drabble of them lying together by the sea, then I'll take it. I'll take it every single time you guys.

4. Albion's last bulwark by Saturne. 92K, E.

You know when there's a halo around a fic that you intensely remember a scene from but never the whole? And the scene alone is more than enough to remind you how good of a fic it is? Yeah. Yeah it's definitely the case here. I vividly feel its effect still. Absolutely planning on rereading soon because of how brilliant it was.

5. And like the cycle of the year, we begin again by @katherynefromphilly. 207K, M.

And lastly, the fandom requirement. The one that we will throw fists for if we don't see a scene or two from. As much as I am always more into canon deviations than accepting the idea of immortality and Arthur rising after millennia, this fic was definitely a pro in trying to make me less in denial. It certainly set the expectations high for any adaptation they might make now, and for good reason.

So. That was Arcane. As a whole.

Best episode of the season was episode 7. I might be a bit biased thanks to Silco and Vander living it up as their older selves but also, Ekko is truly the mvp of the show.

I hmm. Well. Victor. I see what was going on there. I see the vision. I loved lot of it. I had the sudden realizations of "that's Victor, right" before it happened....dude looked more like Jesus than ever before too. But uhh. Hmm. Hmm. There is like a chapter missing between s1 and s2 with Victor. Or more like mid season 2 chapter. Love my boy still. I did not care for his Machine Herald look. I liked the idea of the face being split. It hmm. I feel like they said, instead of showed, a lot with Victor this season.

My controversial opinion: Isha was unnecessary. The black rose mage stuff was unnecessary. Same end result could've been achieved with other means. Vi was just there to experience things and be sad. Jinx can't have shit and should suffer all the time, I guess.

My man was a positive voice for Jinx. Uhhh in a way. Kinda made her go suicidal but like, he was trying. He is always trying. Even after death. Maybe after his hallucination talk people will understand that Silco wasn't just a evil dude with evil things to do, he was as trapped as everyone else in Zaun and wanted to break free.

Tho, I doubt it. The main enemy in Arcane is the class divide. In my eyes.

I do love the exploration of Hextech and how using magic in a technological way can be super dangerous and fuck shit up. I wanted to see that. And I did see that in season 1, when Jayce realizes how dangerous the hextech weapons are! Exploring the time loop and how abstract magic is, was great! I just.

I love this show. Very much. Season 1, no notes. It's made for me.

Season 2 seems like a people pleaser. And I am pleased! Yet I also wanted something different.

I am still happy because I got my vindication. Zaundads is canon, fuck yeah! No man looks at another man like that and is not in love with them!

I loved that they kept that Vander still tried to kill Silco. Silco went "yea ok that ass too good to quit. What is little murder between lovers, anyway. Come here bby"

Only thing. Silco should've interacted with Jinx in the alternative timeline. A simple "you look beautiful" when she has her entrance or "hey here's snack have fun building whatever you guys are building. Don't make too much noise, your father and I need to get up early tomorrow ok bye bye my perfect little genius"

“Charles did not congratulate Carlos in Mexico” yes he did, it’s the first thing he did as he got out of the car, the brush off spotted by the cameras was of Charles being called for weighting so he had to walk past Carlos.

“If Lando Norris wins a championship before Charles I am going to stop watching the sport” do it regardlessly, please.

“Lando said that Max had luck, not talent” yes because the interview was of course completely decontextualised, he said that the safety car being deployed without Max, Esteban and Pierre getting into the pits was luck, not talent. He then proceeded to praise Max’s race and even posted a story to congratulate him because it was objectively a good race.

“Lando is mentally weak and a crybaby” you are incredibly disgusting for this I hope every single day from now you will have to step on legos because calling someone mentally weak is awful. And if Lando is a crybaby you should go listen to all the other radios and interviews (dm me for suggestions, I have a lot).

“The FIA is favouring the British drivers” this is more complex than how simple some of these people are capable to understand. But let’s say that we first had a 10s penalty for Lando, and then the week after a 20s (that was harsh, I agree) penalty for Max. In the Qualifying we had a very delayed flag that did not favour Max and in the race we had a very delayed flag that did not favour Lando. So, no, they’re not favouring anybody, they’re just total crap.

“The media is favouring the British driver” now this is finally a true thing (the media is mostly made of british commentators, look at it!). And yeah, you would not even imagine how much the Italian media is biased about Charles, I might start watching the races without volume because the hate against any other driver that is not Charles is fucking disgusting. So, again, they’re just crap.

“Lando is not champion material” and yet he is consistently in the second place in the championship on the first ever season having a winning car under his hands, the same season in which he managed 7 poles and 3 wins (his first one included) so, yeah, he is obviously champion material.

All of you spreading hate against Max and Lando are foul and I even read people sending Lando death messages, you are the rotten part of this world and you fail to realise that this is just a fucking sport.

Whether Lando or Max wins does not change your life, just cheer for one or be sad for another, that’s okay, but that doesn’t mean you have to fo and hate on anybody that is not Max, or on anybody that is not Lando or, let me say it, on anybody that is not Charles.

They don’t care about us! We’re just the people watching! They care about driving and getting the money for it, there’s not a single one of them that likes the media part, nor a single one of them that likes to give answers to interviewers.

And by the way, saying that the media is biased and then proceeding to cut all of Lando’s words to your liking… let’s just say that a dictionary consultation would be good.

I love both versions of Eric Draven.

Yeah that’s right I said BOTH. Both versions of the crow bring different things to the table and I understand being a bit biased due to nostalgia, but just cuz you don’t like it doesn’t give you the right to shit on everyone involved with the movie without giving it a chance or at least acknowledging that it’s at least gonna urge/encourage younger generations to go look for the og film which should be considered a good thing cuz it means more ppl are gonna discover how amazing the crow as a whole is.

I’m elder gen z and was introduced to the crow by a goth couple on YouTube(it was either before or after I heard about the remake.)It wasn’t until I heard about the remake that I finally stopped procrastinating and watched it. And I loved it. It was rlly good. As for the more recent one. I don’t necessarily hate it tho there are some things I wish they had done differently.

But maybe it’s cuz I like the 1994 one a bit better. I still enjoyed the crow 2024 tho. And I also understand the whole loyalty and respect to Brandon Lee cuz he died durimg the making of the crow.

But I don’t think Brandon Lee would appreciate you guys using him to put down another actor’s hard work if he were still alive today. He wasn’t even the only person to play Eric either. Someone else who wasn’t Bill Skarsgard played Eric in one of the other films.(I think. Feel free to correct me)Not to mention I think we’re all forgetting that the og source material isn’t the 1994 movie. The Crow was originally a comic book series.

I’m not here to tell you what you should or shouldn’t like. But I am here to tell you to maybe calm down a bit. It’s fine if the crow 2024 isn’t your cup of tea or if you like the 1994 movie better.

What isn’t ok is shitting on/slandering Bill Skarsgard and everyone else involved with the 2024 movie, getting genuinely angry that others enjoyed the 2024 movie, saying that newer fans who got into the crow franchise because of the remake aren’t allowed to like the crow franchise and accusing them of being posers(even tho goth is a music based subculture and there are loads of different types of goth styles but ok. Plus you don’t necessarily need to be goth to enjoy the crow.), and getting genuinely angry at ppl writing fanfics for 2024 Eric Draven.

Both versions of Eric are unique in their own ways and I wish people would stop being so mean about this.

You're nearly as strong as Satoru, not to mention how hot and handsome you are, and don't try to deny it because we both know that girls try to pick you up even when I'm right beside you." you pouted playfully, gently squeezing his cheeks. He huffs at the mention of girls trying to hit on him. It was true, sometimes girls tried to talk to him just because of how he looked. “That’s not-“ he started to protest, but he couldn’t deny that it was true that girls tried to flirt with him. “… I’m not trying to deny anything,” he muttered, giving in to your pouting. He sighed again and closed his eyes, burying his face in the crook of your neck. “Alright, alright, you win. I’m handsome and attractive,” he said, huffing, “But still I don’t think I’m good enough for you”. You hummed taking hands away and patting his head, “Yeah, good because you're more than that.” He chuckled at the feeling of you patting his head, leaning into the touch. “Of course, you’d say that you biased thing,” he teased. “You think I’m better than I really am. I’m just… you could have anyone you wanted, but you chose me.” You nuzzled your nose against his, “I could have anyone I wanted so I chose you.” He let out a small laugh at your words, lifting his head just a bit to give you a warm kiss before resting his forehead on yours. “You didn’t have to say it like that” he mumbled, a small pout on his face, “Like I said, biased.” He leaned back against the couch, bringing you with him to straddle his lap. One of his hands was on your back, holding you against his chest, while the other reached up to caress your face. “I love you,” he murmured, his eyes tracing your features as he spoke, “You know that, right?” You smiled widely, leaning in and giving him a smooch on the forehead, "I love you too, my perfect soon-to-be husband.” He smiled when you called him that, his heart filling with warm emotion. “Perfect soon-to-be husband. I like that,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he repeated it. "But let's get trad clothes, ok?" you said resting your head on his shoulder. He hummed in agreement and wrapped his arms around your middle, leaning his head on top of yours. “Traditional clothes for the wedding, got it. I can’t wait to see you in kakeshita.” You nodded, "And you'll be in haori." He nuzzled his face into your hair while humming, “Mm… Haori, huh. Sounds good to me. But only if I get to pick your clothes” he added, grinning smugly. "Really?" you pulled away and looked at him, "Why?"

He chuckled and pulled you closer so that you were firmly planted in his lap. “Because,” he said, a hint of smugness in his voice, “I just want to pick out what dress or whatever you’d wear. So I will be choosing your kakeshita. I want you to look and feel like an angel on our wedding day, baby. Any objections?” You shook your head knowing he won’t change his mind no matter what. He paused for a moment before speaking again. “Can I be greedy again?” he asked, tilting his head as he looked up at you. "Depends on what you want," you hummed, twirling a strand of his hair around your finger. He shivered a little when you twirled his hair around your finger, the act both endearing and a little provocative. “Mm, just a simple request,” he answered, his eyes closing for a moment. He took a deep breath. “Can I pick out your wedding lingerie too?” You smiled before leaning and whispering into his ear, “So lewd.” He shivered again as you whispered into his ear, his arms tightening a bit around your waist. “Maybe I am,” he said, the words coming out a little huskier than he had intended. “Can you blame me for wanting to see you in something pretty and lacy on our wedding day, love?” He nuzzled his face into your shoulder, his voice dropping to a quiet mumble. “Besides, it’s only natural for a man to want to see his beautiful wife in something like that… it’s my right to get you something I think you’ll look heavenly in.” You pulled away and chuckled softly, “So what can I pick by myself for the wedding?” He hummed as he considered your question, his hands still holding onto your hips. “Well, I’m going to choose the clothes, the venue, the food, the rings, the cake, the guests…” he listed slowly, his eyes looking off to the side as he spoke. “I guess you can pick out… the flowers, I suppose.” You looked at his face feeling surprised by his answer, "So I won't have any job?" He huffed in amusement and nodded at your words. “That’s right. I’m going to plan the whole thing, just the way I want it to be. You just have to relax and look pretty, baby” he chuckled, nuzzling his face into your neck. He left a few kisses on your neck before speaking again. “Besides, I’m going to spoil you so much that the wedding is going to be just the beginning of it” he mumbled, pressing a warm kiss to the side of your jaw.
