So, I realize the intent in trilogies is to move a story forward, rather than back, but wouldn’t it be neat for a prequel storyline for Dishonored 3?

Like, whether it would follow some of the early Marked or focus on our resident void boy, it would be cool to see the world before the main storyline

Especially if it followed our void boy in the time before becoming the Outsider

I've been having a lot of thoughts about Poafa recently, and I'm gonna try and condense it into something comprehensible so bear with me for a second.

Poafa is afraid of trust. He's said it many times, but on top of that, he's said that Zam is changing that. Why? Why is he so afraid of trusting people, and why is Zam's actions the singular thing that makes him reconsider his past several seasons of self-isolation?

Poafa has never had the privilege of being important. Which sounds really fucking mean but let me explain for a second. He doesn't get involved in most conflicts in a super meaningful way, and he's never the one leading the charge. And that's just because he doesn't log on as much, to be meta about it (but let's be real, we can't talk about Lifesteal without being meta). But what that means is that his deaths ultimately mean less than people who are more prominent to others on the server.

When Poafa is killed, it's never a dramatic moment where people are upset that he is the one that's dead. For a lot of Lifesteal, he's served as the stand-in for "innocent bystander" that people kill when they want to make a statement about something. People kill Poafa when they need a body on the floor to make a statement, not because Poafa himself, as a person, has actually done anything wrong. Either that, or as a free heart. People kill Poafa to affect others, he's a proxy. And no one has ever really... cared? People get upset about it, sure, but only because of the aforementioned "innocent bystander" position he fills. The last time I can think of where he participated in an actual team was S3, and he's already said he never felt like he fit in with Poggies. And then there was Cleanup Crew, but, well... I think everyone remembers him mostly because of the shitshow THERE. People still make Medusa jokes about him because that's the big thing he's really known for, and you know what role he filled there? Strawman. Fall guy. Never really part of the team, just there to distract everyone else from the real masterminds. The important people.

(And PLEASE understand when I say important it's not to like. Diminish any of the Lifestealers, it's just a shorthand for "more active, more likely to stand out due to their willingness to make big moves".)

And Zam is guilty of this! He killed Poafa during the S5 impeachment of MinuteTech to make a statement. To kill an innocent player, to mess with Minute. Hell, he originally said he was going after Spepticle! The target didn't even matter, but it was Poafa who paid the price for other people's conflicts, and fuck, man, I'd self isolate too! If I was only ever seen as a pawn to be used to fuck with other people, and nearly everyone on the server was guilty of either doing it or falling for it, I'd have a hard time trusting as well! In how many of these situations do we see people going after Poafa and making sure he's OK after? How many people offer to help him re-gear or give him a heart back? Everyone's too busy dealing with the threat that used him as a demonstration.

But then Wemmbu jumps Poafa and he calls Zam, the only other person online, for help. And he immediately starts kicking himself for it! He says that he needs to be self-reliant, because asking for help only ends with people wanting something from him in return. But Zam shows up and helps out and when he does it's for Poafa. "Stay away from my Poafa, Wemmbu." (CRAZY sentence but that's beside the point here). And Zam DOES stick his neck out and DOES go out of his way to tussle with Wemmbu, and even tells Poafa to just run. He puts himself between Poafa and danger, and he CARES about Poafa making it out. Because he's Poafa. Because he's been building and repairing spawn, and Zam noticed, and he CARES.

And then Poafa reaches out to Zam saying that Zam can rely on him, even if he doesn't feel 100% like he can rely on Zam just yet, but he's considering it. And then The Incident happens. And Poafa is killed twice, by Wemmbu, because he can. Because Poafa is free hearts. But Zam did try and stop them and he GIVES HIS OWN HEARTS TO POAFA as an apology for not being able to save him. And suddenly his life means something to someone. He's not another death message in chat, he's not "aw man, not Poafa! He hasn't done anything :(... oh well!" It's "fuck, Poafa, I'm so sorry, I should've been able to help you." And Poafa is like. Dude. It's OK! You don't have to protect me, I don't want to be someone you have to take care of. He says that this is the way it's always been, and he's right! This is average treatment of Poafa, right up until someone actually gives a shit besides "killing innocent player at spawn >:(".

And like. Holy shit dude I really hope they interact more and continue to team up, even though they stream at different hours. Because oh my god. They've both been burned pretty bad by The CycleTM but I feel like Zam is going insane without anyone to talk to about all the shit he's putting up with and Poafa could really use a relationship on the server where he feels like he actually matters. Can anyone hear me. Please don't let this story line die out i will cry

Regardless of if you think that the egg tree man is gaster or not, I think it is very nice how polite the guy seems to be. Like in all egg man related events we have it has been nice.

Seeing how the tree man orphan page for the sweepstakes links directly to the Noelle egg post, I think it is pretty safe to assume they are somewhat related to one another. Just a little egg gift to have is all!

And if you do think of the egg guy and gaster as the same dude (and I guess the intro guy too lol) then the dialoge in the vessel maker intro scene saying that Noelle is “very, very wonderful” matches up pretty well with the idea that she would get a “special” egg gift.

Okay Spooky, PLEASE tell us about the Broken Shell AU lore (when you have the time of course). We've been seeing little bits of it for so long!

OHH, BROKEN SHELL AU MY BELOVED OLDIE

It must be I think the first or second AU I ever made for this game some years ago. It's the classic post-embrace the void ending AU.

Hornet, although reluctant and wary at first, helps The Hollow Knight and nurses them back to health in a little make-shift but in the Greenbath area, close to the Forgotten Crossroads for easy access to the hot springs which they used to heal. Why there? Idk, I think I just liked the greenery.

THK passes out for a good few days while Hornet takes care of them and when they finally wake up, despite being in an extreme amount of pain, unable to see and afraid, they still insisted on acting hollow. Slowly though, they recover, at least physically, and all the while she's taking care of them Hornet's also running all around the kingdom looking for Ghost and taking care of other things now that people are recovering and the dreamers are awake.

Once they've recovered just a little more though, something starts pulling on THK to go deeper into the kingdom, and when they can move finally they decide to follow that calling. Hornet of course tries to drag them back, but they're surprisingly strong even when injured and eventually, they end up at the junk pit. It starts with a little skirmish as both THK and Ghost are startled before they calm the hell down and realise who the other is. Hornet steps in, happy to see Ghost again even though they appear to be a shade now, and attempts to break the awkwardness by introducing them to THK - only for Ghost to float over and hug them, much to THK's surprise too as they had expected it to hate them or at the very least be angry.

So, long story short, the three siblings end up living together, eventually Ghost gets their shell fixed up by the mask maker, and they choose a name for The Hollow Knight - which was Shelly (because at this point I felt too mean calling them Hollow, so Shelly it is). They also bullshit about THK dying because Shelly does NOT want to deal with the emotional turmoil of meeting the Dreamers or Ogrim or literally anybody they know, at least while they're still recovering.

Eventually, though, they learn the truth, and much to Shelly's surprise and relief aren't angry with them.

Much later on, the question of who the next monarch should be arises and they eventually end up with Shelly being the only legitimate candidate (Hornet couldn't be thanks to some political mess between Deeonest and Hallownest, and Ghost would rather go through the Path of Pain 1000 times over than be a ruler of anything). At first, Shelly is terrified about the prospect and refuses, but after getting a ton of reassurance and with the promise of getting help from the Dreamers, they agree.

They couldn't bring the palace back from the dream realm so they just built a new one, a much smaller one in the City of Tears.

But it's mostly a classic healing arc AU for the three siblings tbh, mostly THK.

Also, it's worth noting that Shelly is disabled. They're completely blind in their right eye and can see some blurred shapes and light in the left one, which is the result of living with the fuckin sun in their head for god knows how long. They also suffer from chronic pain and back problems, and at their worst, they cannot take care of themself or even get up from their bed without assistance. They obviously don't have an arm either but eventually get a prosthetic one made for them. They still can hold up on their own in a fight - they're a god, after all - and even learned to fight by relying on their hearing rather than sight, but they're still not as strong or agile as they once were.

The bow covering their eye was from Hornet. When they were recovering she tied their bandages into a bow to cheer them up and they liked it so much they decided to do that with silk after their shell/eye healed. They also have a good relationship with the dreamers and even develop a fatherly relationship with Lurien, because they deserve a good father figure god damn it.

Oh, Ghost also eventually becomes Shelly's knight when they grow up. Hornet obviously takes over as the queen of Deepnest eventually and ever since then Hallownest's and Deeonest's relationship couldn't have been better, considering their rulers are siblings and get along swimmingly.

oh so HUGE fucking update. asked advisor if i was throwing away my degrees to go to trucking school immediately after graduation and he said im just adding to my skill set. called dad and asked for permission to renew my lease and go to trucking school and he said i can run free for 1 more year. so now im doing trucking school research so i can get my CDL hopefully by the end of summer 23. then i can long haul truck or milk truck for like 2ish years. then if thats super lucrative i'll stick with it to keep saving money, otherwise i'll put my degrees to use and get some management or quality job at a dairy plant. then still by 2030 have money for land and goats

Game Night: CHAIN ATTACK!!!

i am,,, withering away but ITS DONE ITS DONE IM FREE FROM THE CURSE (<<< still haunted by wips) clocking in at 32+ hours, this sucker has been getting pushed around for 10 months-

while theres some things i would have done differently if i could redo this from scratch, i still had a BLAST cramming in as much detail as i could tolerate >:) some highlights / cut ideas / ramblings are below the cut, but please zoom for details! (if tumblr doesnt shred it to bits)

gonna be real i locked so hard onto drawing ripped jeans that i forgot i could have just shoved legend into a skirt and called it a day

SOCKS. SOCKS. the amount of Joy anytime i figured out how to personalize them with game references: legend (hibiscus), twilight (ordon goats), and four (force gems)

i WAS going to put time in a turtleneck, but had an epiphany and started digging for the most obnoxious hawaiian shirts i could find,,, ft. a sea flower (wind waker) and a saturation boosted plumm (twilight princess)!

yeah so warriors got the sweater instead of the skintight shirt, sorry gang

speaking of if i ever say im going to draw a cableknit sweater again, somebody PLEASE shake some sense into me- warriors sweater was a NIGHTMARE since my art program has an astonishing lack of good brushes (and yet here i am still using it)

MOST of the text has been modified using the twilight princess cipher because yeah. i was procrastinating shading. also the other ciphers were in japanese- times shirt is cropped, but reads "its 5 oclock somewhere"

Fics that you should read before Arthur comes back: clown edition

Now I know we might all be clowns, and that they're probably playing with us as usual, but honest to God I don't care. I am going to get my hopes up because I have been doing exactly that for the past lord knows how long. So better stay consistent, ok? Better remain true to the cause.

Now here are some post-canon fics that the writers should put into consideration if they know what's good for them.

1. These Ghosts Might Be Mine by @peaceheather. 68K, G.

The only thing I wrote in my bookmarks over this was that it's "the ending we deserved". Pretty sure that sums up exactly what I want to say. It's not just your ordinary time travel fix-it fic, but one that is done with such brilliance that it leaves you marvelling in awe at times. You must do yourself a favour and read for this author if you actually want to get a good understanding of the characters past canon.

2. Seo Gaestlufe/The Soul's Love series by flowerofnettles. 180K, T/E.

I know how hesitant some are when it comes to series, but listen. This one is simply not long enough from how GOOD it is! I rarely read wip fics, (it's now complete) but I genuinely loved living a journey with the author while it was being written, and I felt the amount of love and passion the author spent on it. What a creation, honestly. It's one of the very best out there.

3. I will turn your fear into a handful of dust by @regulusrules. 1K, G.

I am biased, ok? I want my own happy ending for them. I want to see them grow old and weary together. I want them alive. And if what it takes is a 1k drabble of them lying together by the sea, then I'll take it. I'll take it every single time you guys.

4. Albion's last bulwark by Saturne. 92K, E.

You know when there's a halo around a fic that you intensely remember a scene from but never the whole? And the scene alone is more than enough to remind you how good of a fic it is? Yeah. Yeah it's definitely the case here. I vividly feel its effect still. Absolutely planning on rereading soon because of how brilliant it was.

5. And like the cycle of the year, we begin again by @katherynefromphilly. 207K, M.

And lastly, the fandom requirement. The one that we will throw fists for if we don't see a scene or two from. As much as I am always more into canon deviations than accepting the idea of immortality and Arthur rising after millennia, this fic was definitely a pro in trying to make me less in denial. It certainly set the expectations high for any adaptation they might make now, and for good reason.

Ok fuck it this is my blog and I talk about whatever I want.

The internet is disgusting.

“Charles did not congratulate Carlos in Mexico” yes he did, it’s the first thing he did as he got out of the car, the brush off spotted by the cameras was of Charles being called for weighting so he had to walk past Carlos.

“If Lando Norris wins a championship before Charles I am going to stop watching the sport” do it regardlessly, please.

“Lando said that Max had luck, not talent” yes because the interview was of course completely decontextualised, he said that the safety car being deployed without Max, Esteban and Pierre getting into the pits was luck, not talent. He then proceeded to praise Max’s race and even posted a story to congratulate him because it was objectively a good race.

“Lando is mentally weak and a crybaby” you are incredibly disgusting for this I hope every single day from now you will have to step on legos because calling someone mentally weak is awful. And if Lando is a crybaby you should go listen to all the other radios and interviews (dm me for suggestions, I have a lot).

“The FIA is favouring the British drivers” this is more complex than how simple some of these people are capable to understand. But let’s say that we first had a 10s penalty for Lando, and then the week after a 20s (that was harsh, I agree) penalty for Max. In the Qualifying we had a very delayed flag that did not favour Max and in the race we had a very delayed flag that did not favour Lando. So, no, they’re not favouring anybody, they’re just total crap.

“The media is favouring the British driver” now this is finally a true thing (the media is mostly made of british commentators, look at it!). And yeah, you would not even imagine how much the Italian media is biased about Charles, I might start watching the races without volume because the hate against any other driver that is not Charles is fucking disgusting. So, again, they’re just crap.

“Lando is not champion material” and yet he is consistently in the second place in the championship on the first ever season having a winning car under his hands, the same season in which he managed 7 poles and 3 wins (his first one included) so, yeah, he is obviously champion material.

All of you spreading hate against Max and Lando are foul and I even read people sending Lando death messages, you are the rotten part of this world and you fail to realise that this is just a fucking sport.

Whether Lando or Max wins does not change your life, just cheer for one or be sad for another, that’s okay, but that doesn’t mean you have to fo and hate on anybody that is not Max, or on anybody that is not Lando or, let me say it, on anybody that is not Charles.

They don’t care about us! We’re just the people watching! They care about driving and getting the money for it, there’s not a single one of them that likes the media part, nor a single one of them that likes to give answers to interviewers.

And by the way, saying that the media is biased and then proceeding to cut all of Lando’s words to your liking… let’s just say that a dictionary consultation would be good.
