Me playing Tears of the Kingdom: As much as I miss the champions, it makes sense they're not mentioned much. It's been a hundred years since they died. Even if they survived the Calamity, most of them would probably be dead at this point. The only exception being Mipha, who would have been the only one that would still be alive if she survived the calamity due to her age. The reason they're still remembered so much in Breath of the Wild is because the Divine Beasts, one of the last remaining connections to them, are still active and looming in Hyrule. Impa also said that their spirits feel uneasy knowing their task of defeating the Calamity wasn't done. They were at peace when the Calamity was defeated and passed on. They're not brought up from that point on because them and their era are over and can be laid to rest.

Hey buddy one question, from your perspective who would be a better match for Grovyle? Dusknoir or Celebi? (It's for a project about photosynthesis)

I think a quick look through the actaeonshipping tag versus rendshipping tag in my blog should tell you enough about who I prefer with Grovyel xDD

I am VERY biased since when I first played the game I greatly disliked Celebi's characterization (pink = girl = boy crazy tee hee uwu) and didn't even care much about it until I played Special Episode 5. Hell, I almost thought it was unfair how popular the shipping with Celebi was because of a crush and 4 stray dialogues and one good final scene while Dusknoir got totally ignored despite being the catalyst for the Grovyle speech that leaves everyone mindblown and remembering this game forever.

I got around to appreciating them as a polycule, especially since I feel they can soften out each other's rough edges. But as separate couples I have a hard time imagining them seriously ngl. I feel like Grovyle would care so little about any romance that Celebi wouldn't make a move and their relationship would stay stuck in the status quo we saw in the future, where Celebi has a half-denied crush on him and Grovyle focuses on other stuff. And Dusknoir and Grovyle would die again before talking about their feelings willingly, so they just work all day on missions and reconstruction of the future.

But if I had to choose between the two ships, I can't say anything other than Dusknoir. if only because the relationship between the two is actually interesting and changing and evolving. Grovyle cares deeply about Celebi, which is cute. Celebi's got a little crush on his ugly ass, very cute. Then that's it. They're very close friends, it's very sweet, a lovely tale of love in a doomed world, sure. but idk, you have to fill celebi's character with headcanons a lot more than Dusknoir's. She has a beautiful hug at the end but she doesn't have an entire episode worth of development, and I value the latter one more.

I'm not good at character analysis and personality types and stuff like that, but I feel like Grovyle's dynamic with Dusknoir has much more potential and has even been a bit underappreciated, not in small part because it's basically all inside the special episode of a game that sold less than half of his predecessors. Boy, I wouldn't blame anyone who has only played Explorers of Time and Darkness for forgetting about Dusknoir.

The Interactions of Marx & Magolor

Some think I'm out of my mind thinking Magolor's castle (or “Magolor Land”) bears a resemblance to Marx, and even more crazy to think it will lead to an appearance by him in the remake. 

...And maybe they’re right!

But I would just like to see these two who have been hinted at knowing each other for nearly TWELVE YEARS to finally interact on screen together. Canonically. (Not counting Star Allies. Great as it is.)

So, with that in mind, let’s take a look back at all the times Marx and Magolor have canonically (or canon-adjacent) been hinted at knowing each other or otherwise been seen together!

1) Magolor’s “somebody” in the "Return to Dream Land" script

"By the way, I knew about you long before our fateful meeting."

"Kirby, the happy-go-lucky hero with the bottomless stomach."

"I even know somebody who knows you quite well!"

"If everybody would just get along, it would make things so much easier."

...I’m kind of sorry we lost out on hearing Magolor slyly call Marx an idiot behind his back in English! Maybe they’ll add it back in DX?

2) Marx shows up in RtDL’s Kirby Master cutscene

The rest of the audience is made up of duplicates of characters already in the game. Only Marx was included without having any other visual appearance in RtDL. Aka, he’s a new resource - for a half-second back shot in a 5 second movie. Now, he had a 3D model for the Super Star Ultra cutscenes, but that was years ago, and this still would have required porting him over.

There must be a meaning to all that effort...

3) They have a rare gold Rock transformation in Kirby Triple Deluxe

The game immediately after we learn they may have known each other, they appear together on a statue? Once again, this requires either making a new model for Marx, or carrying over his SSU model.

This rock transformation is used AGAIN in Planet Robobot, seemingly emphasizing that the two of them are linked in SOME way. The only difference is that the two of them have been downgraded to common granite...

I guess the gold foil wore off? Tee hee...

4) Marx appears again in TDX's Kirby Master scene. Only this time, he’s sitting next to Magolor! (And Galacta Knight, curiously enough.)

While getting the “somebody” line requires playing RtDL extensively, it really does seem that HAL were more open to the idea to revealing that the two had some connection by this point, thus, letting them sit together.

4) Magolor slips up, in talking about Kirby in a way he only could have known from talking to Marx in the text of “The Starcutter and the Lying Wizard” (an official novel adapting RtDL’s plot.)

 The novel adaptation drops the “I know someone who knows you” scene, but it includes at least one line from Magolor hinting at the same idea...

Now, the English text above is from my translation of the novel, but you can read my explanation of said translation and why I think it still supports Marx being the one here - if you’re concerned I’m biased. (I won’t deny the possibility exists, but it doesn’t completely invalidate the idea either.)

5) Official makers of Kirby Merch, Ensky, has the two of them talking!

Back in 2017, Kirby_Ensky ran a popularity contest, the goal of which was to decide which characters should get more merch. (Waddle Dee won, btw.) 

Now, each candidate got a little shoutout tweet of their own. And Magolor's made special mention of Marx! (No other characters got this kind of call out btw.) The highlighted text says: 

"He was seen talking with Marx in the waiting room. Are they up to some trouble again...?"

The use of “again” suggests they have a history of working together.

6) The official Kirby twitter portrayed them together multiple times!

Often, they’re planning mischief. In fact, three of the pictures create a little mini-story (stretching across several years!) where Marx and Magolor plot to play a trick on Kirby by telling the puff that circling those mysterious objects you see all over Popstar 25 times will turn them into chocolate. 

They grin, seeing Kirby fell for it completely, with the puff eventually exhausting themselves (and all of Channel Dream Land) out with all that walking.

 However, when the duo try again, this time telling everyone that the star blocks you see everywhere are actually made of cake, they're caught in the act and forced to make a huge pile of star block cakes for their lie.

7) Re-ment’s Kirby-themed Hanafuda cards. 

Each card has a Kirby character or reference to something in Kirby on it. Marx and Magolor each have their own card and are part of the same "suit." What this means is they can be grouped together to create a match.

Not every familiar pairing is grouped together via suit like this, but it’s certainly interesting that they were. Especially as their art appears to almost fit together.

8) Re-Ment’s "Garden of the Stars: Afternoon Tea" 

Re-ment is better known for their figures, and they released a sweet set that has Kirby in a little hat and Waddle Dee with a frilly headband enjoying tea and sweets in the garden of the stars! It even comes with a signboard that has Kirby and Waddle Dee welcoming guests to the party. 

HOWEVER, the sign board actually has a secret reverse side which Re-ment later revealed on Twitter, featuring Marx and Magolor instead! It almost seems to suggest the two have teamed up once more and are planning some kind of prank to disrupt Kirby and Waddle Dee’s peaceful tea party!

9) The 30th Anniversary Music Fest

For the 30th Anniversary Music Fest, Marx and Magolor are paired together in both the merch (sharing a keychain design) AND the initial promo video. The promo video is interesting, because the only other characters to be introduced “in a set” like they are is the otherwise indistinct Waddle Dee trio. 

They also play similar instruments: guitar and bass.

10) The Marx costume and Magolor costume interact in a humorous way in this Super Kirby Clash video!

This particular video was posted on the official Twitter to advertise Marx’s equipment, a late game unlock. In the end of the clip, "Marx" is seen playing a trick on "Magolor," causing him to get squashed flat by the Blocky.

Here’s my translation of Magolor’s commentary on said tweet!

"If you could wish on the milky way, what would you wish for? I'd wish for galactic conque....err, I mean, for my shoppe to thrive! 

This equipment comes from a guy who tried to make a certain planet his own. It's incredibly powerful, but it'll make you want to play tricks on people! Hey, stop giving your friend trouble!"

...Similar to calling Marx an idiot early, he uses a rather dismissive form of address to refer to him here. He’s probably still upset about being smooshed. (Interesting too that said “friend” could very well be Magolor speaking on behalf of the Magolor-costumed Kirby. Aka, treating them as “friends.”)

11) Magolor's "Marx" outfit is "lovingly dedicated" to Marx.

Okay, okay. This sudden seeming evidence of a deeper relationship between Marx and Magolor coming out of nowhere in Super Kirby Clash isn’t exactly what it says in the original. (Gotta say, for whatever reason the original line turned out this way, I unabashedly love this version of it!) 

Though I'd like to take this time to point out that there IS an interesting theory with decent evidence (in JP) that Shopkeeper Magolor in Super Kirby Clash is apparently Magolor from the main dimension, transported to the Dream Kingdom by some strange means...!

EDIT: Theory was apparently confirmed true in an issue of Nintendo Dream.

He's the only character to refer to Clash's Kirby as "Kirby of the Stars" - OUR Kirby’s nickname - and he makes a reference to his original villain speech, a reference no one but him could possibly get in this alternate fantasy world. (As you can see in the above tweet, Shopkeeper Magolor teasily mentions his ultimate goal in RtDL something that doesn’t mesh with his friendly, unassuming “shopkeeper” role in SKC.)

 Meanwhile, Marx doesn't make an appearance anywhere in Dream Kingdom, meaning the costume and the jester's exploits the costume speaks of may be Magolor bringing information about Marx from the main timeline into the Dream Kingdom-verse. 

So... Magolor knows Marx’s story AND what he wished for.

12) This official clip promoting Dream Buffet shows them interacting

Yet again, the two appear together in an official promo video. I heard it suggested this one could be "revenge" for the Super Kirby Clash clip, as it’s “Magolor’s” turn to interrupt “Marx” feasting on strawberries. This seems to imply that when they can't find other characters to troll, the two troll each other!

13) Lastly, the towers of Castle Magolor/MagoLand resemble Marx’s Wings

I initially thought that more of the castle’s design could be a reference to Marx, such as the shapes on the tower body resembling those on his hat, but as higher res pictures of the boxart have come out, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. (There is a blue and red spot near the entrance that has a sun symbol on it. No telling if there’s another tower with a moon symbol...)

But we can see the colorful tiles much more clearly, and they and the flags do bear the same rainbow pattern as Marx’s wings are shown to have in his official art, a pattern that Magolor otherwise has no relation to.

Will this coincidence lead to anything? ...I guess we’ll find out!

Phew! I do believe that's most all of it! You could also compare their attacks, which have some similarities, although that doesn’t say anything about them having met. Now, I may have missed some interactions elsewhere though, because as you can see, there are a few really obscure places where they show up as pair. 

(And there some that are so tenuous I didn’t think they counted, like the two of them having their Poyo Poyo Cushions announced together, or both being on the “villain” side in the Kirby werewolf board game. There’s also some of the Star Allies celebration pictures and other group pics that have both of them, sometimes even in proximity to each other, but I left those out since the concept of the Dream Friends blurs the line of who knows who somewhat.

Only mildly related, there’s also this clip from a Nico Video stream about Kirby Clash that says nothing at all official about the two of them, but is completely hilarious as two men on the right come to the awkward realization that Marx and Magolor’s plushies have fallen down in a very “suggestive” manner and how are they going to adjust them without drawing more attention to it.)

...And there you go! They’re hardly inseparable (as the above video shows, they’re VERY separable! XD )  but seeing them hanging out causing trouble together is a strangely common sight. Whether or not they knew each other in the past, it’s safe to say they “know” each other now.

Here’s hoping that these two villains with a history stretching back for over a decade will someday enact their lovable mischief together on the same screen!!

@robotmothpie is the most wonderful person I've ever met. They say I'm biased, but I wasn't biased when I was first getting to know them several years back—and fell head over heels.

This is just an inky dinky appreciation post for Moth because a proper one would fill a bookshelf. (And somehow, I've never made one until now.)

Moth has saved my life in more ways than I can count. They have often been the fiber that holds our friend group together. They're always going out of their way to be kind, even when the world doesn't seem to give much back.

Moth's example has taught me that love is always worth it. When you choose love and the rewards don't appear, you can be sure that life is preparing something better for you. Keep looking. Keep waiting. Keep doing what’s right. By not giving up, you're turning yourself into a person who's ready for the best life has to offer.

I wish I could give the world to Moth. It's hard sometimes, being long distance and having the financial / career struggles I have, because there's so much I can imagine doing that's just out of reach.

Anyway, Moth reads like a maniac and has become an even better writer than they were when we first met. They ramble passionately (but coherently) about super fascinating fandom lore. They only recommend good media (Wolf's Rain, Transformers, Legally Blonde, Tuca & Bertie, etc...). Their common sense is astounding at times. They make me laugh out loud when I least expect it. They scam me in pet sim games as a love language. They listen to all of my over-wrought ideas and pick out the gems. They've personally lifted my main project, Selah, out of the garbage, dusted it off, and given it new life more times than I can count. And there are so many irl things I want to rattle off, but we ain't about that on Tungl.

Anyway, yeah, if you're glad the Chimalus Mianite of today is still kicking around and making stuff, you have Moth to thank for a big part of that. Maybe someday we'll tell the story of how Mianite brought us together, but that's a whooole other thing.

- that chapter was 7.2k words?? No fucking way dude. It was so good that I was rereading certain paragraphs during the first read, but nonetheless, the chapter went by so quick bc of how good it was 😭😭

- PAIGE AND AZZI FINALLY STOPPED PLAYING?? No more blue balls Paige omfg 😭 I know she was thanking every god in existence for that night LMAO

- I loved how you chose to let Paige receive first and then Azzi. I feel like Paige was more apprehensive of pushing boundaries with Azzi, and that she wouldn’t have initiated sex unless if Azzi did. Player P becomes Putty P when it comes to Azzi (and this is true IRL as well lmaooooo). I loved how soft that moment was for them and the words of affirmations you included for both sides.

- Azzi being self conscious of her body after having Stephie?? Azzi you will always be the most beautiful girl out there no matter what, and I am so glad that Paige was there to reassure her of that 😭. God, the way that you wrote that scene was PERFECTION

- Azzi talks about the times they had sex before (after Azzi had Stephie), and that they had the lights off one time and then the other time, Paige was too drunk. I know one of the times was after the UConn vs Notre Dame game and I’m assuming that’s the “Paige being too drunk” time, when was the other time??

- Katie clocking Paige staying over at Azzi’s?? You gotta love Katie Fudd lmaooo the biggest Pazzi shipper one might say in this fic??

- I also loved how you included the children (Ice, KK, and Jana). KK being slightly pro-Paige and then Jana being slightly pro-Azzi. It just shows how P+A’s situation highly affected those around them as well.

- And Stephie is back!! She is so spoiled haha, getting whatever she wants! But hey, we know that Paige cannot say no to Azzi, and the same goes for her with Stephie as well.

Hbomberguy's and Todd in the Shadows' videos about James Somerton reminded me of when I got suckered in by a lie that appealed to my brain, my biases.

There was a guest on Boonta Vista, an Australian politics and news podcast who claimed that the CIA was involved in Gough Whitlam's dismissal from office. It's referred to as a bloodless coup.

And it's interesting and you see how it's plausible, but it's not the truth. There's definitely aspects that are reality but the bald faced claim that the CIA was responsible, is not true, and saying that it is real excuses British influence in Australian politics.

Whitlam himself says it isn't true!

But it was presented as an undeniable truth, and I didn't fact check it at the time because it had enough basis in reality that I didn't question the parts that were a stretch.

And I didn't question it until I got annoyed at a dumbass post on here talking about how 'Australia doesn't need to get rid of the monarchy because they don't have power here'

Which is a huge fuckin red hot anger issue for me, and I had this screed typed out and I reblogged it and then felt the instant mental zing of

'if I'm making a claim about history, I better get my facts straight! Time to google to get a source!'

And the way I felt from being instantly debunked... I was so annoyed and ashamed for taking something so big at face value.

And man, if this is one of the things that in ten years time the CIA are like whoops here's a coup we did tee hee, like they love to do

Nonbinary. Predominantly he/him but fine with the occasional they or she. Butch Lesbian. To me. To me. Idk if anyone will see what I see here but this is all I see.

Helmet can come off. I'm assuming the drill and energy/jet pack can come off for the sake of maintenance and whatnot but it's a hassle and his hand is legit gone

I mean he's got other helmets in his office?? but meanwhile he's apparently worn the same sort of stuff for like 20 years (painting/photo in the mansion) and i feel like most of the dialogue points to it not being removable but Im. not sure if im convinced there. It also acts like he doesn't have a spare hand so. idk.im sure he could take off the drill and engine pack in case repairs r necessary. but ig he just doesn't for one reason or another

probably bc he's stupid and stubborn and holding out for a chance to tear someone apart. too bad he's only really tearing apart his own work

That and i'm sure atp it's all low grade cyborg stuff. The green bit the drill attaches to is embedded in his arm and i'm sure there's ports and plates n wires all up somewhere in him where everything attaches.

In and out of sobriety. He's. Not really sober atp but he was trying and I'm sure he still said so that he wouldn't get dragged back into full throttle addiction and so garm wouldn't get on his case abt stuff. too bad most people can see right through his lie.

Smokes too. Smells like space weed, dead furgle, dirt and sweat most of the time. Doesn't really drink though.

Got sober after a while of dating his wife, really got serious abt it after marriage + once his workload increased. Fell back into old habits once. yknow. all that. And he fell hard. Beforehand it got bad sometimes but after everything it was less of a bad habit and basically the only way he'd even feel close to alright.

Total cheapskate, lifelong haggler. If he can’t steal it or get it for free/cheap he won’t buy it. Also a bit of a hoarder, takes all sorts of freebees and scrounges up scrap material n junk that he thinks he'll get around to using for something later

Spiteful lil bastard. Feels entitled to much more than he’s got generally but is especially pissy about his space on the ladder rung. Envious of most others. Will never NOT complain about something.

Not conniving enough to work out some brilliant plan of sabotage but he's certainly a bully who has knocked others down a peg and screwed up what he can to get what he wants.

Weak in comparison to the other officers, and generally out of shape/rusty, but he’s still relatively strong and can hold his own. Definitely stronger and more durable than humans and other common alien species, even if it’s not by much. A bit sickly from piss poor sleep and eating habits.

Minimal combat training but he fought a lot in his youth and isn’t totally helpless. Certainly not happy with how the others seem to ignore all this and regard him as the weakest link. Even if it may or may not be true.

Violence is not the answer it's a question and if you're dealing with someone who has nothing to give you the answer is of fucking course. cleans moplet guts off his drills, shoes and Gus daily.

Not the brightest, certainly not as "brilliant" as some of the others but he wasn't born yesterday either. Street smart and he knows his way around.

Workaholic but work ethic leaves somethings to be desired. Certainly has spent hours just staring at his computer wishing he was anywhere else. Or bitching over the loudspeaker/hologram messages. Not to mention that he digs in to the harvest a bit too often.

Also not very organized. Not a total slob but everything is "organized chaos" that is just teetering on that edge of even being considered organized

No free time these days but his "hobbies" mostly consist of debauchery and causing mayhem. He is rather handy tho, enough to fix himself up decently. Does not go to mechanic or doctor like ever until he's totally sure he can't do shit abt it. should really take better care of himself either way.

He knows he has a problem. He knows he has many problems. He just lacks any drive to try and fix anything. Like he's legit given up.

Sticks with the cartel bc it's all he really knows and he's holding out what little hope he's got. That and generally has that mindset that you stick with whoever's looked out for you and though what happened with Giblets and Garm's incompetence have tested that loyalty it's still been such a huge factor of his life

And he's mostly cool with Nipulon even if he's said some choice words about Garm around him. Really Krubis has some respect and admiration but doesn't get why he still answers to Garm. Hell he wishes Nipulon was in charge of all this instead!

Distant from the other officers but has a shaky...friendship ...ish? with Douglas and the Skrendels. Closer with Douglas. As ive said before it's very weird and on and off but he just can't stay mad at Douglas bc he looks at him and sees his younger self. So if anything he's worried and would like to try and tell Douglas to wisen up before it's too late. I think they mostly mention each other in their dialogue bc it's wild that a g3 officer was killed and word spread like wildfire and YOURE HOLDING THEIR GUN TO SHOOT EM WITH more so than them necessarily being close but no one else seems to really care in this regard so i will say it's not like they're *not* friends or whatever. May or may not know what he looks like out of his suit. i'm between Krubis legit not knowing or keeping the half-open secret for douglas's sake.

As for the Skrendels. They want him to lighten up and Krubis wants these dumb fucks off his lawn and for Garm to explain why the hell these meatheads get so much of Zephyr. Eternal jersey-new york rivalry. But they're all from rougher walks of life and on the occasion that Krubis isn't stewing as deep as he usually does in his bitter envy for everyone else they can kind of chill together

I feel like of the three Angela is a little less confrontational or generally chill so he actually gets along with Krubis the best outta the three. Jonathan is charismatic but very brash and generally obnoxious and meanwhile Mona is pretty serious and the least social of the three. Jonathan is generally cool with Krubis even if he thinks he's totally cranky but Krubis finds him overwhelming and the two both get fired up easily so it's not the best mix. And Mona doesn't really like him. Mona does not like a lot of people.

His relationship with his wife was faltering before Giblets slept w/ her because of increasing disagreements. She found Krubis to be pretty headstrong even when he didn’t really know wtf he was talking about. In general things sort of just stagnated with Krubs workin all the time,, no communication nothing new,, etc etc.

But!! They were pretty happily married for some time, at least like 5-10 years. Sickening sweethearts at one point.

He was pretty pissed about the cheating and divorce (and probably said some things to her that he shouldn't have) but he was much, much more hurt by her death. In his eyes Giblets practically stole her away just to kill her and didn't care about who he hurt.

He was totally planning to kill the guy btw. Or at least ruin his life right back. Never got around to it. Bc paperwork

I don't know if he'd ever truly *like* Giblets but once upon a time he was willing to give the guy the benefit of a doubt and was even able to muster up some kindness. Certainly saw he was smart and figured maybe he'd just gotten a bad rap. Never Fucking Mind!!!

He's angry with her too, a little. But most of all he's angry with himself. For never being there. For not fighting harder to win her back. For letting her die like that. Everything that went down made him much angrier than he was beforehand (even tho he was always sorta like this).

Kind of found the Gatlians cute and interesting in general. Not enough to be against what happened to them though.

I do think if he stepped back and saw the extent of damage that the G3 has done he would feel guilt but in the end he'd rather keep his head down and keep going along with things.

Of the group he's on the best terms with Kenny. Gets along with all of them though Gus and Sweezy wish he knew why they were (and still kind of are) mad at Kenny.

Also got some bonding time in with Lezduit before he went off with BH's parents. They take solace in the shared experiences of being lab rats to horrible people.

The other Gatlians have tried to fill creature in on what life on Gatlus was like. He was sad that he had forgotten everything and he felt bad abt not really having that same connection.

Bounty Hunter told him about Pikmin and he is enamored with it.

12. maybe a super unpopular headcanon, but i like to headcanon that while in the public eye or in front of others, megatron would, of course, prefer to be in full control and shown to be indomitable, but when she's behind closed private doors and with her significant other, she likes to let loose, let go of the reins and let her partner take care of her, be a little submissive, even. always being in constant control gets tiring and stressful, after all! :)

14. i… may be just a little (a lot) biased, but i love to imagine megatron in east asian traditional/oriental clothes, like a korean hanbok or kimono. or silky, flowy fashion. those kinds of threads just have such a graceful and elegant air to them, and i think they suit megs so much. like, i just absolutely love imagining megatron with all kinds of flowing sashes and ribbons on her… 🥺 bonus points if there's a futuristic/cyberpunk twist to the dresses. but a really, really close second fashion aesthetic would be techwear. megatron would absolutely rock the techwear look. hell, in an au of mine, i quite literally put her in a fusion hanbok with techwear mixed in. my tastes certainly show 😂 more projection, tee hee

i may as well start with a more recent acquisition, the zebra sarasa clip, specifically the milk color set in 0.5 mm. jetpens shills HARD for zebra sarasa clips. anyway theyre mid as hell and are not representative of the gel pen experience - cheaper pens in novelty shapes write better than the zebra clips, but they do have a very nice almost pencil-y tactile feel because of it. in plain text, they're scratchy. the colors are wonderful though, EXCEPT for that damn white gel pen... if you wanna go really matte with your white pens or be able to write on dark paper, get a gelly roll or use a paint pen because god damn the zebra sarasa pens are TRANSPARENT AS FUUUUCK despite being advertised as being able to write on dark paper clearly. SCAM!!!!!!! but i do really like the colors and when i want a more pencily feel i go for them. they also make really fine, textured lines, which is nice for getting your crunch on (making ur art look purposefully crusty)

also. i am a believer in the tombow brush pens. my school had a sketchbox subscription they kept forgetting to cancel and so they had a few of them laying around and me and the other art girl were always passively slapfighting for them with psychic mind games. i finally bought one for myself and despite me usually not liking brush pens...... lads... its good.... its one of the first brush pens i've had that doesn't fray after using it like three times. so i can actually use it for fine AND thick lines without having to work around the shitty nib. looking at you faber-castell brush nib.

i have a couple different fineliners (felt tipped, water based ink) and theyre pretty alright. le pens are a great choice for writing, not so much for drawing. i like the staedler tripluses a lot, they're just handy for workhorse writing and consistent thin lines. stabilo point 88s are also good. i cant really tell the difference between fineliners a lot of the time because they're all very similar, le pens are the most distinct ones i've used because of their softer tips. you have to really baby fineliners so the tip doesnt get squished which kind of makes them a pain to use. oh also i used to love the faber-castell pitt artist pens for their consistent lines and firmer nibs but god damn they do NOT play nice with other art supplies. and as someone who swaps between mediums a lot it just isnt. ideal.

i used to be a rollerballhead but i've fallen in love with gel pens... they may smear easily but god damn are they goopy........... fuck yeah...... i'm SUPER biased towards gelly rolls just because i'm the most familiar with them, but they're super fun for doodling and have really vibrant colors!!! i also like them because sakura was the first company to make gel pens in the 80s - gel pens are super recent compared to other writing tools which i think is cool as fuck. theyre like. the future...... plus theyre just a smoother writing experience. shitty gel pens are 10000x better than shitty ballpoint pens. the pilot g2 is the best of any commonplace office pen fuck everybody else pilot g2 is my best friend

microns are fine i guess. i used to like them more in middle school but they're so sensitive to getting smushed that using them comes with Fear. i've never smushed one before, but i HAVE had friends ruin my microns when i lend one to them for like five seconds. i think they're copic-proof which is why people like them? i dunno. they're prone to fraying, the nibs just arent very good compared to other options

i REALLY wanna try a pilot frixion but i havent gotten any yet, i plan on buying a set early next year! they're erasable pens that use heat and friction from a rubber eraser to disappear the ink, which is super cool. but a warning: because they're heat sensitive (and their ink comes back when exposed to temperatures under 14 degrees fahrenheit!) the ink can all activate in the pen and become transparent if you leave it in a hot car. or your notes can disappear if you leave them in a hot car and you'll have to pop them in the freezer to get them back

OH OH OH OH i have generic brand paint markers (tooli-art) and they're great until they explode. i use the white one a lot because it's handy to have what is essentially a pen of white-out on hand, but i don't use the colored ones nearly as often because they're messy and...... a few of them have kind of exploded at the nib which makes them drooly and gross. the only posca i have is a brush one and the brush poscas are shittáy

FRUITS BASKET S2 EPISODE 24 (SEASON 2 FINALE PT 1!!)

Ahhh... yes. I'm finally here. A slow, crawl to catch up but I'm getting there lol. These last two episodes were pretty great and fluffy and then just ended with a crescendo with Kureno that just... abruptly moved me at 1am in the morning! (I didn't ask for it, except I did by just watching this show)

Anyways, let's get into it!

But for real, I love that Yuki makes such a real effort to make sure Machi is included. Even if it is kinda his responsibility, you can really see the side of him who's desperately nice towards people because he really wants people to like him. However, with Machi specifically, it's the same attitude in a slightly different tone... I wonder why.... <3

- Also, I love Kimi but she sidelines Machi so hard in this episode, like why, dearest, why?!

- Yuki and Kakeru's easy friendship makes me smile almost as much as Kyo and Tohru's cute moments

- The english VA for Machi's mum hit extra hard for some reason. It felt so mean! Great performance, but damn dude lol

- Machi and Yuki noticing each other silently from afar is killing me with it's cuteness and it's so old school romantic? Yet so delightfully awkward as well, it's amazing

Damn, Machi... Fruits Basket's depictions of depression and anxiety have always been pretty spot on through the visuals and through the expressions and metaphors used to describe it. I just really appreciate that Takaya-sensei was so honest with the portrayals of different factions of mental health while still making the story something you still want to come back to.

Ritsu gets no. 2 in Outfit Appreciation because you can tell he tried and it’s vibrant and prettier than Hatori’s and I feel bad for not putting him first because of my FEELINGS.

He’s a bitch but he’s right. It was from here that I started to suspect that Shigure’s energy this episode was a little bit more shifty than usual...

Ah... my baby boy. I’m so happy he got this moment. To make it a 100% clear about where and who he is now despite the oncoming backlash. At first, I was a bit concerned about him taking the complete blame for all the abuse that people put on him when he was a child (and technically still is, for now) but I also think in a way he’s trying to be gentle with his approach of being honest with Akito in the hopes that she seeks redemption too. 

As a certain doctor says later, “You’re so kind.”

- Akito’s reaction of course was on brand. But, it was pretty stylistic with the call back to Kureno’s curse breaking

- There’s something about Eric Vale’s performance of Yuki in this episode that’s so... human? I know, that’s a weird way of saying it but Yuki’s so normally put together (on the surface) and it has shown in his voice pretty much since the start of the anime. But slowly, Eric has been adding different and more expressive fluctuations and tones in Yuki’s voice episodes since the beach arc and it feels like in this episode he just completely let loose and it’s now completely slipped into Yuki’s casual conservational speak now. It’s just neat :)

And, I think I can say the same for Hatori’s VA Kent Williams. This is the most expressive Hatori has been in this show so far! It’s great. :3 Although, I think for Hatori he’s only stoic when he feels he has to distance himself to keep himself together from either the situation or the person. Very Doctor-like.

But back to the story, I appreciate that Takaya-sensei thought to tie up their relationship with each other and have them be cool because honestly? I even forgot that Yuki didn’t trust Hatori around Tohru for a while. This moment was so nice and warm! <3
