But the writers better have been careful moving foreward bcuz I can def see a world where Angel's arc goes very wrong very fast-

Also while we're criticizing: wasn't a fan of the pacing. Especially in episode two. Like I can look past it, but the way they breeze past some plot points kinda bugged me

From the outside looking in, I think can speak to how compelling it is to pit Crosby and Ovechkin against each other. As your ESPN article puts it: "Crosby was careful, corporate. Ovechkin was unpredictable, borderline dangerous. The key word was passion, and even though Crosby had it inside, Ovechkin oozed it. He was the anti-Sid, possibly the better player, and soon a cult hero." (x, y) I know you're frustrated by this, but they do sort of exist in relation to each other. Maybe I've fallen for the propaganda, but it's very literary <3 You could write their story down and present it to a novel studies class, and the easiest thread to pull on would be all the ways in which they're each other's narrative foils.

IF you held a gun to my head and made me guess at the 'why' of it, I'd probably agree with Eric Adelson! It really does feel like Crosby's image is who hockey wants to be seen as. A Good Canadian Boy; humble, no conspicuous expressions of his wealth, no partying, and of course no on-ice flash! I think I can understand the backlash somewhat; in such a team-oriented game, one with all these arcane honour codes and the emphasis on humility and respect and not rocking the boat, I could see why the spectacle of Ovechkin's personality would've grated. Crosby's an easier pill to swallow for the conservatism of hockey culture. (And I specified 'image' because there's the reality of what it is to be famous, deified, and torn apart each time you don't quite measure up. I hate to be the guy who says there's another side to this but, like, I'm sure plenty of people who are more familiar with Crosby's story could come out and tell me about the unique challenges that come with being considered The Next One.)

I love villains who are obsessed with Ben Killing him, hunting him down, whatever. Watching villains shove aside whatever or whoever gets in their way to pursue Ben with single-minded fervor always hits good.

This fight between Ben and Alien X, up until he loses the Omnitrix, is probably my favorite fight in the special. Alien X was at his coolest and Ben really gave it his all, no matter how badly he got beat in return.

Okay, just finished it. Final thoughts? It was really cute. Is it good enough to get me to watch the rest of the reboot? No. It's definitely not as hype as some of UAF/OV's high points, probably in part because I still can't get into the art style and also because the fight scenes just aren't as good.

It had pretty good pacing! I was surprised by that, I thought 45 minutes was gonna be too short, but it ended up feeling right. (Also, I'm upset to say that Max's voice grew on me. Gwen is on thin ice.)

You can tell that this was made with a lot of love, both for the characters and for Ben 10 as a whole. It really does feel like a love letter to the fandom, and for that, it was a good watch :)

Final score: 7/10, not NEARLY as bad as I was expecting, worth a rewatch <3

okay so!! zoro x usopp!!!

i must say, i didn't even think about them as a ship until not long ago when i saw a fanart of them and i went "oh, damn, they're actually really cute!". that, and also that you can't go into the ao3 sanuso tag without finding sanji/usopp/zoro too. which i understand. i just don't usually read those much. but i know the ship exists and i appreciate it bc the three of them deserve love, and tbh at this point i just love the whole sanji/usopp/zoro/luffy poly thingy.

i love the zosopp dynamic. they're so,, so silly,,, and there are so many possibilities for angst too???? like, not my top ship but damn it has a lot of potential. and i'm easy to convince, so with a few fanarts and fics i might actually start shipping them for real. who knows. i'm just very specific when it comes to shipping zoro (meaning i only ship him with luffy, lmao. and sanji when the horniness takes over the critical thinking or when the art is just too good).

i love their scenes together and the whole "calm x anxious" thing that ends up turning into "calm one is actually stupid and anxious can't believe he's really that stupid". that also being zoro seeing usopp's potential and wanting him to grow as a pirate so he doesn't interfere when it comes to things like water 7 or personal growth, but admires him from a distance. while usopp is, like, there, admiring and kind of envying zoro's strength but also admitting that he's human too and has feelings and can act like a dumbass. i think zoro would be clingy with usopp in the sense of protectiveness because in canon he's already protective of him (and also would find comfort in him after knowing him for so long. east blue crew things), so them being a couple would only make him more possessive and caring. which is cute!!! like (and i also say this when it comes to sanuso) zoro knows usopp can protect himself. he just cares too much to let him on his own. and he might act like he's tired of usopp's anxious and panicking attitude, but he gets it. he lets usopp do his things. he stays there. zoro protects and loves and he isn't loud about it but he's like a gentle, big cat. and this is just me being a very violent sanuso shipper, but the three of them together would be good when it comes to protecting usopp and also hyping him up!!! that's their sniper!!!!! they love him so much.

but also, from usopp's pov (because for some reason we always talk about zoro's povs when it comes to shipping???? idk why. it happens a lot with zolu, too, idk) i think he loves zoro in such a silly, teasing, intimate way,,, the east blue crew will always hit different, man, but idk,, usopp loves teasing zoro and making him mad and somehow he always ends up making the swordsman participate in their silly, dumb shenanigans. and i think that's beautiful because it's not only usopp wanting to fuck with him, but also usopp wanting zoro to have fun instead of just being protective and first-mate-like all the time. does that make sense??? i think it does.

there's also the respect between them. like, silent respect. zoro knows usopp is capable of fighting and making his own decisions and yet still protects him when asked because sometimes he knows there are fights that only the monster trio can handle (same thing that happens with nami, basically). and usopp respects zoro's position as the first mate and admits that he isn't just a dumb swordsman. although he loves teasing him bc tbh stressed zoro being out of his comfort zone is just so funny--

besides, they're sooo domestic. i love the tiny bits of them smiling and hugging. soft zoro is rare, but when it happens??? it's my whole world. and i think usopp is one of the few people that can make him smile in such a cute way!!!

also they're chaotic af. since day 1. i love them. they have to be one of the most hilarious duos in this show.

Soft candle light filled the room, dust particles danced in the small spotlight of sun that creeped through the shut curtains of Astarion’s office.

Astarion sat pensively behind the massive mahogany desk. Scattered around him were paperwork related to objects he’s received from a source in Reithwin, Gale’s notes about his sister’s preferences, and some other uninteresting letters to answer. He couldn't really concentrate on the task at hand, his mind still a torment of anxiety and worry.

Octavia had been back for about two weeks and Astarion felt as if she was pulling away from him a little. He wanted to ask her what was wrong, but each time he tried, she would come up with an excuse to go back to work, or somehow change the subject. She would nervously play with her hands and stammer out a reason to hide from him.

Astarion kept running through his mind, trying to find whatever moment was the catalyst towards her change in affections. He was fighting with himself to come up with a way of talking to her, when he heard a gentle rapping coming from his office door. Astarion takes his mind out of his thoughts, he takes a sharp breath, and releases a long sigh.

He groans, steadying himself and walks towards the door. Astarion runs his hands through his hair, adjusting his jacket before opening the heavy door to reveal Gale on the other side. “Oh, good afternoon, Gale. To what do I owe this pleasant visit?” Astarion steps out of the way, letting Gale pass him and take a seat in front of the desk.

“Are you busy later?” Gale asks, as Astarion makes his way over to join the younger man. “Athena and Sirilius are able to stop by the museum today, if you were available? Athena mentioned that she would much rather view the museum instead of hearing about it at dinner, if you didn't mind. I already asked Octavia and she's on board, I know I should have cleared it with you first, but isn't it you that says ‘it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission’?” he chuckles with a skewed smirk, looking up at Astarion.

Gale nervously averts his eyes from Astarion, anticipating his response; but instead of answering him, Astarion asks, “Speaking of Octavia..is she..well, has she been acting any differently towards you?”

Gale’s head tilted back a bit in surprise, “I, uh…no? She's been her usual self with me? Although, she's been a bit overly dedicated to helping me with Athena…as if she's trying to distract herself…and uh..well..I'm not sure how much I should tell you.”

Astarion’s eyes widen, his dark gray brows knit together in a worried state. He swallows nervously and responds shakily. “Go on.”

Gale nervously fiddles with his fingers before hesitantly continuing, “She seemed rather distraught when she came back from her vacation, but all she's told me is that she's been feeling pretty mournful over the sale of her childhood home. Even if it's still within her family, she feels as if that's the last part of her mother that was tangible. Now that it's gone, she felt as if everything was moving on, except for her.”

Of course it was that. How could I be so blind?

Astarion bites the inside of his cheek. He turns his head away from Gale and clears his dry throat, feeling it tighten up a bit. “Has she said anything else to you?” Astarion asks quietly, his stomach twisted as the words left his lips.

Gale is immediately suspicious; he had noticed the slight change in Octavia’s mood, but didn't think it had anything to do with Astarion. At least, not until this very moment. His eyes narrow, “What did you do, Astarion?"

Astarion’s head whips back in defense, his frown deepens and his eyebrows tilt downwards. “I didn't do anything. She won't speak to me! All she does is stare at me as if she's afraid of me! She won't say more than a few words to me, and when she does it's always ‘I’m fine, nothing's wrong, I have to get back to work.’ it's driving me FUCKING INSANE!”

Astarion stands, slamming his palms onto the cluttered desktop, making the whole thing shake. “I don't know what to do, I can't figure out what to say, how do I get her to talk to me?” He exhales a long drawn out breath, slumping back down onto his chair; his arms draped over the armrests, ego completely deflated.

After a few seconds of silence, Gale speaks, “Well, have you tried just talking to her? Really talking to her? A back and forth, listening, and supporting conversation?”

Astarion felt the underlying shame of yet again disregarding the feelings of someone he cares for. Would it be so simple as to ask Octavia how she was doing? Was he really that out of touch?

“If I may be honest?” Gale’s soft voice breaks through Astarion’s catastrophic thoughts, his red eyes meet the deep brown ones looking back at him. Astarion nods for Gale to continue.

“Put yourself back to that time where you were alone. How utterly devastating it feels to lose your home, your family, your loved ones? Yes, she has her father, she has us, but what she's truly mourning is the loss in general. Astarion, her mother was everything to her.

Give her time to process the changes happening, be there to hold her hand when she's sad, to listen to her when she's feeling lost, and for the love of all the Gods out there, tell her how you feel. Everyone can see how much she means to you. Stop denying it, welcome it.”

Astarion stared at the younger man with an open-mouthed look. He never thought that he could have that much influence over someone as headstrong and brilliant as Octavia.

“Astarion, you can have the past to look fondly on, and to reminisce, but that does not mean that the future is something you have to avoid. Moving on is a hard, painful, and lonesome thing, but it doesn't have to be so. You can help her with that. Maybe the both of you can help each other.” Gale stands and walks over to the other side of the desk, he puts a hand on Astarion’s shoulder and gives it a soft pat.

“Athena and Sirilius will be here soon, I promised to meet them for lunch, so I must take my leave. Please don't let things with Octavia dissuade you from trying. I know it's difficult, but for someone like her, I can imagine that it is very much worth it.”

Astarion takes a short breath and places his hand on Gale's, giving it an affirmative squeeze. He turns to his friend and nods, “Yes, mustn’t keep dear Athena waiting. Gods know how your sister is going to transform my museum, I'd better make a good introduction so she doesn't change it too much eh, darling?”

Gale pulls back and smiles at Astarion. He shakes his head and laughs softly, walking to the door. Before he leaves, Astarion calls out “Thank you. I very much treasure our friendship.” Gale glanced back, a sincere smile grew on his face. “As do I, Astarion.”

They nod at each other and Gale exits the room. Astarion is left alone in his spacious office, he sighs and spins his chair to face the window. By this point, the sun was well over the other side of the museum. The light that streamed through his window is now concentrated on the gardens below.

He opened the curtain to let the fresh air in, the smell of the sweet flowers that bloomed in late summer surrounded him. In his musings, he picked up a particular scent mixed into the delicate bouquet of the season’s blooms.

Astarion approaches the window, peering down onto the garden’s courtyard. There, he notices Octavia sitting on one of the benches surrounding the fountain in the middle of the yard. Her hair is down, tied away from her face with a pink ribbon, the long, blue black tresses softly dance in the light breeze that blows.

She's reading a leather bound book, flower petals are blown gently around her. As she flips the pages of her book, Astarion allows Gale’s words to sink in.

‘You can have the past to look fondly on, that does not mean that the future is something you have to avoid.’

Octavia had given him so much already, could a future be in the cards for them as well?

He kept watching her silently as she brushed a stray lock away from her face. How he wished he could be down there, enjoying the warmth of the sun and her company. He longed to feel the way he and his beloved used to.

Would she allow him to sleep nestled with his head on her lap? Would she let him explore her body in the light of the sun? His desires would remain locked up tightly in the deepest parts of himself.

Astarion kept his eyes on her, fading away into his memories when he noticed Octavia had lifted her rounded sunglasses, her bright green eyes meeting his.

Her face softened, and she smiled at him, waving sweetly at him. She closes her book and stands, walking towards the nearest entrance.

Astarion rises to his feet, and sprints out onto the main hallway. If he walks quickly enough, he can run into her before she reaches her office on the farther side of the administrative wing. As he makes his way down the hall, he can hear Octavia speaking to Colette, one of the librarians from the research library. He lingers behind a wall nearby and listens to their conversation.

“So it's true then, Gale’s sister and her fiance are actually getting married here? Mr. Ancunin allowed it? How did they manage that?” Colette asked.

“Gale had a very convincing argument. I was there when he presented the idea to Asta- Mr. Ancunin…you should have seen it. He had it all together, the whole plan and execution was definitely a team effort on his and his sister’s parts.” Octavia replies, she was clearly downplaying her own part in swaying Astarion to agree.

“Wow, must've been some argument. Mr. Ancunin isn't usually one for allowing private events, but I guess Gale is one of his favorites after all.” Colette teases, giggling while Octavia sighs and laughs softly.

“I don't know what you're talking about, Cole. I’m sure I haven't done a thing to suggest otherwise.” Octavia’s voice sounded playful, coquettish even. It gave Astarion a bit of hope that all would be fine soon.

Colette scoffs, “Yeah, I'm sure. Well, I gotta get back to work, not all of us get to help with a fancy wedding and get to spend time with the incredibly hot and sexy heads of the museum. I'm super jealous by the way, you'll have to come to my place and spill all the tea one of these days.”

Octavia laughs a bit, each time Astarion hears it, the sound sends his undead heart into a flutter.

“It probably won't be after this whole wedding business is taken care of. I won't know how long it's gonna be until I have free time. Don't worry, though, I'll keep you in the loop. Gotta have our biweekly bitch sessions right?”

The two women laugh softly and bid each other farewell. Astarion quickly and quietly makes his way towards the middle of the hallway. He looks out toward the window to make it seem as if he was lost in thought, masking his eavesdropping.

Astarion can hear the soft click of Octavia’s heels grow louder as she makes her way towards him.

She stands at his side and looks out the window with him. After a few moments, she glances at him and breaks the silence between them.

“The flowers out there are beautiful. You did a wonderful job picking them out when you built the gardens.”

Astarion smiles, he turns to look at her and finds a small white oleander flower from the shrubbery in the gardens nestled in her hair. He reaches over and gently picks it out, brushing her hair behind her ear. Octavia shudders a bit and sighs. Astarion noted her reaction, a small blush grew across her cheeks and the tips of her slightly pointed ears.

His hand lingered on her face, his thumb softly brushing her cheek. He leans in close to her neck, his breath a whisper on her skin, “You feel warm, freshly sun-kissed. Radiant like the sun itself. Absolutely resplendent.”

Octavia was glowing in return, she hadn't felt this kind of affection from Astarion before. A side of her wondered if it was part of an act, more of the lies he tells to serve his own needs. The other side melted at his touch, it bled and breathed for him. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath and exhales slowly through her lips.

“Not at work, Star…” Octavia gently warns, she pulls away from him, trying hard to ignore the warmth that settled in her stomach.

Astarion bit his lip, he felt a small rush of anxiety run throughout his body. Calm down, she has a point. Don't want to make things more difficult.

“Right, of course, love. I’m sorry. You’ve just been so preoccupied with helping Gale. I’ve missed spending time with you. Missed being around you in general. You're kind of addictive.” He ends with a small smile, hesitant to ask her how she's doing.

“I’m sorry, Gale’s been so stressed about this whole thing going well. He wants to make sure Athena is happy and that you won't regret allowing this. He respects you so much and he doesn't want you to feel like he's taking advantage of your friendship by asking for everything he has been.

So I've been trying to lighten his load by helping him out. Athena and I have been writing to each other for a few days and I have taken the liberty of being her liaison. Half wedding planner, half museum staff. How about that?” Octavia shrugs with a tired smile. Astarion could tell both she and Gale were working themselves to the bone trying to appease everyone.

Astarion felt the seed of guilt plant itself into his heart, he is contributing to this and it's not helping anyone aside for himself and Athena.

“Don't. It should be me apologizing to you. You came back from your trip and I'm already throwing you into another complicated situation.” Astarion turns to face her fully, reaching out to hold her hand. “I’m still getting used to thinking about others' needs before my own, but I am here if you ever wish to confide in me. That has not changed. It will never change.”

Octavia keeps her gaze locked onto his face, while Astarion keeps his locked onto their intertwined hands. She tries to decipher his motives, unsure of what to say. So instead she leans in and kisses his cheek.

She pulls away and rubs her thumb on the top of his hand, feeling the small tremble that came from him slowly fade away. “How are you feeling about all of this? You'll tell me if it's too much, yes?” Astarion’s voice softly questioned.

Octavia nods, “Thank you. I will.” I'll tell you everything when I figure it out for myself.

Astarion relaxes and nods back. He glances out to the garden yet again, as he and Octavia hold hands in silence.

A few minutes pass when he feels a tingling sensation in the back of his ear, he hears Gale’s voice softly break through and speak.

~I’m back with our guests, meet me in the atrium? Bring Octavia with you, please. Athena is excited to meet her in particular.~

As convenient as those Send spells were, they always came at the worst time.

“Well, it seems our couple and Gale have arrived. Are you prepared to make this the wedding of the century?” Astarion asks Octavia, wrapping her hand around his arm and leading them towards the grand entrance of the museum.

Octavia walks beside him, matching his long strides after a second. She was a few inches shorter than him, but her heels made up for it. They walk down the hallway, a myriad of paintings and statues keep watch of them as they continue arm in arm. The hasty click of her heels muffled by the red carpets that lined the floors.

As they reach the end of the hall, Astarion turns his body towards her, pressing his back to the door. Octavia looks up at him, a puzzled expression painted on her face. “Why have you been avoiding me?”

“Astarion, I hardly think this is the time-”

“Then when?” Astarion responds, cutting Octavia off and fighting everything within him not to react harshly.

A tense silence fell between them, Octavia’s breath hitched and she huffs out in a frustrated hum. “How about tonight? After we do this whole act of being excited for people we don't know for a friend who has done so much for us?

It's the least we can do for him, and if it ends up being fun, then we go from there. I'm not trying to avoid you, really. I’m just going through a lot of shit right now, and it would be nice to forget about it for a minute? So tonight, if you’d like?”

The corner of Astarion’s lip twitches upwards, “Would you? I am willing to do anything you ask of me, have I not proven it to you yet? If I haven't, how can I?”

Octavia looked away from him, she wanted to confront him, to ask what his intentions with her were. Would he love her and leave her like he did to Tav? Would he stay? Was this even real to him?

Instead, she answers his first question, “Yes. I would. There's a place down the road from here. I used to go there when I was looking for jobs around the city. A little hole in the wall sort of place. They make really good blood sausage if you're the type that likes blood?” she ends with a smirk, attempting to push past him.

Unfortunately for her, Astarion is not only taller than her, but much stronger as well. Her efforts to shove past him end with her pressing into his chest as he blocks her way out. “And if I'm not? Would you oppose me possibly having my meal in a more intimate location? Perhaps we could have our own private tour of the grounds?”

Octavia sighs and rolls her eyes, laughing as she shakes her head. “You're shameless. Come on, let's go meet the happy couple. We can figure out the details afterwards.” she pats Astarion’s shoulder, prompting him to step out of the way. As she walks past him, his eyes linger on her body. Watching the sway of her hips and the taut fabric hugging her curves.

Trying not to stare at her was going to be difficult, good thing those sunglasses were for more than hiding his eye color. He pulls them out of his coat pocket and slips them on, the suave and aloof veil that easily becomes his face.

Ashley Snaps - Silver to bronze, is now called Nightmare on Ash Street, technically changed in that the description is tonally very different and moves to the more sympathetic view of that situation over the original's description, which is very interesting in and of itself, but it's the same thing requirement wise so I'm counting it

Trophies that have been removed for the remake

The Quicker Man - Gold, all the boys survive, makes sense as you can easily get this at the same time as the They All Live trophy

Four Daughters Of Darkness - Gold, all the girls survive, same thing as the above trophy, though I'm more bummed about this one because I really like the name and referring to the girls with it

Don't Scare Jessica To Death - Silver, Jess survives the night, this has been kind of replaced by a couple of other trophies which I'll get to in a bit, I liked that she was the only one with a sole survivor trophy so again kinda bummed by its removal but oh well

Instant Inferno - Silver, Sam immediately runs to the switch, this one I imagine is because it's right at the end of chapter 10 and annoying to replay the whole thing for since you can't do a all live or all die run and get this, plus it's a little out of Sam's character in most people's opinions, which kinda aligns with the change to Ashley Snaps i think

Fatal Grudge - Bronze, Chris shoots Ash, I think this one again goes with the tonal change made to Ashley Snaps, and also means that following that path gets you one trophy as opposed to two

The Exorcism of Emily and Let eM In - Both bronze, grouping these together because they're the same situation, it's very interesting to me they got rid of these two in favour for something else (which I'll again talk about further down)

New trophies added for the remake

It's Shining - Silver, collect all the new interactables, this one I'm excited for, I'm really intrigued to see what they added in, one other trophy kinda spoils that since i believe the item it mentioned isn't in the game already unless I'm forgetting seeing it?

We Need to Talk About Josh - Silver, achieved the best ending for Josh, this one has a lot of people excited based on the wording that he'll get a new ending where he can survive and make it off the mountain, and though my logical brain says that it's just gonna be for getting the journal and the ending where he turns, my Josh-loving brain would love to see a different ending for him!

The Cabin in the Blackwoods - Silver, completed a full playthrough, your bog-standard completion trophy, but I'm glad this and one other are the only ones and it isn't a chapter-by-chapter basis like some people were worried the trophies would be

Talk to eM - Silver, Emily slapped Ashley after the truth was revealed, I can only imagine this is replacing the other two because of what an iconic moment in the game it became within the fandom, and I appreciate that acknowledgement ngl, plus it's more incentive for players to keep Em alive in the basement as opposed to shooting her because they hate her, which I always like to see

When a Psycho Calls - Silver, Sam successfully escapes the Psycho, this one is like a 'yeah, this should have always been in the game' kind of addition to the trophy list, totally get this one being here, I like to see it

Blackwood Country - Silver, the group respected the wildlife of the mountain, I also like this one because it plays into the story and the background of the mountain, my guess is it's a series of not shooting the squirrel, not hitting the bird in the snowball fight, possibly choosing to comfort the dying deer that Mike and Jess find, not hitting the herd with the axe as Matt, and possibly not hitting Wolfie, though since his survival is its own trophy, he might not count

Fatal Destination - Silver, tried changing the past despite Dr Hill's warnings, this one is intriguing but I imagine it's solely for restarting and either replaying the full game, or just the prologue, since he already has a unique dialogue for starting the game again from the beginning (which, if someone has a clip of, please link it! I cannot find it!)

Only Others Left Alive - Silver, Matt and Jess only survive, I like this one giving some acknowledgement to the two that get pretty neglected by the game, it's part of the replacement for Jess's sole survivor one and gives Matt some respect too!

Carnival of Solitude - Bronze, shake the snow globe, this is the item I mentioned earlier that I cannot remember seeing in the original game? If it was there then my bad, but if it wasn't, I hope it's something either with like a cute picture of the Washingtons in it, or with a deer or butterfly in it and we find it in Hannah's room or something like that

Just Breathe - Bronze, Matt or Em successfully defended themselves with the flare gun, another one where you think 'yeah, this should have been in the game already', both are pretty hard shots to make iirc and deserve more acknowledgment outside of the butterfly effect they're part of

Our Host - Bronze, the Psycho's identity was revealed, this will ether be a general story progression trophy unlocked automatically when it happens, or may have something to do with finding everything in his workshop should Sam escape, though that's less likely

I Know What You Did Last Year - Bronze, completed the Prologue, the other general playthrough trophy, I like this one due to the rework and the expanded scenes that we'll get to see

Lodge Fever - Bronze, Matt and Em started separate confrontations in the lodge, this is I imagine for starting a fight with Mike as Matt but backing down before it reaches boiling point, so that Emily can come in and start her fight with Jess, so I'm intrigued by their choice to add this, though it could hint at the preorder DLC being added into the full game? maybe?

One Hour Selfie - Bronze, take a bad selfie with Jessica, this is a missable encounter on the cabin walk that I think can impact their relationship? it's got some funny dialogue and it's a cute little silly trophy so I like that they've put in something like that

Drag Me Through Hell - Bronze, Mike saved Jess without failing a QTE, the other half of the change to Jess's sole survivor trophy, this one is interesting as she can still die after, but can also live if you do miss a QTE - this is the most like. playing the game related trophy, if that makes sense? it's the most related to the actual controls of the game, and I wonder if you have to have certain settings or difficulty enabled to be able to achieve it or not

An American Survivor in Canada - Bronze, Mike successfully escapes the Sanatorium in Chapter 9, some people are theorising that Mike could have a new death now, which would be sick because his plot armour is atrocious, but again, I'm pretty sure this is just about him making it out of the building on his own, and Sam not needing to be in there to help him blow it up

Patient Sematary - Bronze, Mike picked up the odd figurine, another interactable spoiler, I've gone through all the clues and can't see anything like a figurine, so I'm really intrigued about this!

I just thought the changes and additions and removals were all super interesting, and I love getting to analyse and see if anything we don't know can be figured out from this stuff! Little Nightmares III, huh???

I was trying to avoid being excited about it because no solid release date and 2024 could be a few months from now or a year from now and Idk how long I can handle being so fuckin hyped for this game YEEHAW

BUT I CAN'T, I KEEP THINKING ABT THE GAME AAHAHHGAGA

so here are my thoughts, if you wanted to know

FIRST OF ALL, i am so glad that after we saw LTNM II we thought it'd be co-op but it was just an AI, that we finally get co-op! AND ONLINE TOO, i spent the first day worried it'd be shared screen same room situation since i wasn't trying to get my hopes up but then I realised I can just.. google it.. AND IT IS!!! ONLINE!! IDK WHO I AM GONNA PLAY IT W FIRST AAAAAAAA

anyways, you can definitely tell it's a new studio working on this game, the world feels mostly the same but the character designs themselves are definitely stylistically similar, but not the same. With Six especially, the MC designs were very simplistic and realistic but used colour (or for Mono, a single design quirk being the bag) to stand out against their backgrounds and against the enemies which are largely neutral colours. But these new ones feel... "over designed"? On their own they definitely aren't, but in comparison to Mono, Six, Seven, and even NPCs like the flashlight girl, they have a lot more going on (especially the little wrench kid, Idk which one is Alone and which one is Low yet btw OOP)

Despite it being a new studio and you can tell, new puzzles and environments, they're still doing their best to have the OGs vibes and whatnot to feel familiar, namely in the trailer they bring back the fuses, and the additional gameplay video there's a short scene with an environment with all the shelves you can find in LTNM 1s gnome section (the one with the cart that is affected by the Maws swaying).

But regardless, it still feels different enough my brain is still nervous about it. I also feel In A Way about Tarsier having LTNM II explode and their franchise getting the attention it deserves, only to have it stuck with Bandai and now it's going to likely explode again and they aren't involved. Idk how anyone on that team feels about it, but if it were me omg.

Also the only boss we've seen so far (i hope they add more and i def want some to be a surprise so im not gonna assume this is the only one for now) feels... out of place? it has the design qualities of a LTNM boss, but the size of it makes it more of a spectacle than a warped/corruption of an adult. All the previous bosses fit in their environment, we are the small ones and they are scaled to the world around them. This is the first time, outside monster Six who imo is a bit of an outlier anyways due to her circumstances, we're getting a boss who is this huge and doesn't even fit their own environment. I hope we get a lore reason for this in some way, because currently the boss doesn't have the same vibe as the others and it's throwing me off a bit. Don't get me wrong, it'll be terrifying, but looking at the picture as a whole they are sort of out of place for me rn. I don't hate the bitch either, I'm not gonna be like omg get rid of it or change it, but it does strike me as odd seeing it for now.

And yes the tall man is too tall for a lot of things, but he's not THAT big. He's more like yer tall guy who hits his head off doorways, which happens irl anyways LMAO

Little Nightmares primarily tries to capture the feeling of being a small child and how everything is big and scary, but a doll that huge is out of the realm of reality set up for us already. It's gone from scary corrupted animal to godzilla, if that makes sense.

This is an interview that for once is not only with Deats but with Clive Bradely as well, Nocturne's writer and Ellis' replacement.

Before I start, I love how they talk about *that* ending like it's the hypest thing to ever hype. They know. They know what the fans only care about.

It ends with a clear and ready indicator that team is ready to tackle arguably the most iconic Castlevania narrative of all time, Symphony of the Night, as Richter and his allies find themselves bolstered in the darkest hour by the arrival of a familiar face… well, to us, at least, even if our young heroes aren’t as up on their Castlevania lore as gamers are.

Fucking peak. I love it. The gang is ready to tackle the SoTN story because even though they were about to die badly, after losing Tera, Alucard is there to save the day. Goddamnit if you suck his dick any harder you'll vacuum it off his body.

Also lol and lmao they cannot adapt SoTN at all. Where is Richter grappling with the fear that after killing Dracula his life is now done, making him easy prey for Shaft's manipulations? None of this can happen. Dracula isn't even around!

The character of Annette, trapped in a castle, made me think of Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame—this extraordinary woman who sweeps into France. It seemed an obvious step to make Annette a revolutionary from St. Domingue/Haiti on that sort of model.

This... sure is a train of thought. I'll just say N!Annette fucking wishes she had Esmeralda's charisma.

Later we had a Haitian adviser on board, Cècile Accilien, who helped us with aspects of the history and culture. We wanted it to be as authentic and grounded in reality as possible.

I just loved the idea of Richter’s grandfather as this bitter old guy who’s been through hell, lost his magic (which at the point they meet is also true of Richter)—kind of the opposite of Richter, or an image of how Richter could end up if he doesn’t evolve into the hero he needs to be.

Fuck off. I've already ranted about this. My poor man Juste deserves better than being "that one stupid asshole that exists as a warning".

I just wanted to add that Juste is a really special inclusion in the series for me, and Clive brought him into the show in a really great way that resonates really well with the Castlevania fan in me.

I don't like Deats. I know it's mean of me, but the more I read him talk, the less I like him as a person, he's just so conceited. I don't know who is the bigger hack between him and Flynn now.

So there’s almost a bit of a debate about Alucard’s design and whether he has intended to have pale blonde hair or white hair in Symphony of the Night based on the artwork of him and even his character’s sprite in the game. At the time of designing him in the original series, though, I decided to lean towards the pale blonde hair in order to invoke his mother, which was appropriate to the story. His hair got more saturated during lighting/compositing than I had ever intended, though, which was a constant frustration of mine. But even back then I tinkered with the idea that if we were to jump forward in time, to show how time has passed by leaning more towards the white haired direction (this also had the added benefit of not being something we would have to worry about getting over-saturated during lighting!).

Well, there you have it. N!Alucard's hair got lighter in-universe. I wonder if he changed color naturally or he decided to change his appearance.

for Nocturne, we wanted to invoke his SOTN look while also reflecting that this is a version of him that’s been awake and fighting for 300 years

Mhh. So I was right. He did live on for 300 years and witness his friends' death, abandoning his castle and village and Trevor's descendants to fight by himself. I'll make sure to judge this decision once S2 comes out.
