So I followed you years ago for the first season of tua. It has been years and now tua has come to an end. I just watched the final season. Did you or will you watch it? I might not be able to recommend it. Which is such a shame. The first season was amazing and will be forever one of my favorite shows.

I will forever stand by the thought that simply “being online” and consuming or even posting content, takes a completely different amount of energy than messaging or interacting with others online does.

but that’s something I had to train myself to acknowledge and learn. because it used to hurt and make me overthink when i’d message someone and they wouldn’t respond, but would still be active or posting. like I wouldn’t say that to them, but it overtook my thoughts.

then somehow I just stopped and realized- maybe they’re just tired. or maybe they’re scrolling on the phone in their 5 minutes of free time. maybe they’re in the middle of 3 conversations and are trying their best. maybe they’re in the middle of making a post and didn’t see your message. maybe they’re deep into searching a topic and can’t be distracted. or maybe they just don’t want to talk to you rn, and that’s perfectly okay and valid.

all that to say- it can still hurt sometimes, but giving people grace and thinking the best of them and their intentions, and sincerely hoping they do the same for you, makes life so much more enjoyable, and I highly recommend ♡

What frustrates me most about western attitudes towards feminism (both from feminists and anti-feminists) is seeing feminism as complete. The “what more could you want” trope. First off, very little countries are completely gender equal, but even more to the point, it’s such a self-centered take. Because what you actually mean is that America, Canada, a lot of Europe (still not including all), and Australia/New Zealand have greater equality between men and women. Which is all that matters in your mind.

Feminism doesn’t stop where you live, you realize that right? Feminism hasn’t been “completed” until every woman in the world is treated equal. Which is absolutely not the case in, arguably, more countries than less.

I took an intro to WGST two semesters ago and my professor was a woman from India and she was still deeply connected to her family there. A student once said that feminism was “mostly complete,” and it was heartbreaking to see my professor’s reaction.

The most obvious case being Afghani women under the Taliban, but the state of how women are treated in most non-western nations, and even many western nations, is sickening. Countries that treat women mostly equal to men is the minority. It is beyond to privilege to view feminism as “complete.”

It’s a lot easier to pretend that how women are treated in your country is the same around the world. But it fucking isn’t. That’s reality. Fucking take your head out of your ass and look around you.

#I just saw this take on here of all places and it just makes me so mad #it’s probably one of the most frustrating takes #keep in mind I don’t say the west in here because mexico the Caribbean (that’s in North America) and South America have huge equality #problems #and I don’t say Oceania as the majority of nations also have severe inequality #while it ofc includes the stereotypical countries that come to mind #which should be enough to show you feminism ‘isn’t complete’#it’s everywhere #people genuinely view women as less than far more often than not #and I apologize to everyone on here #especially people who identify and present as women #from countries such as these having to deal with this take constantly #fucking shut up #rae’s rambles #feminism
