eat to live
thoughts and wips under the cut
phew! the most ambitious piece ive done in a while. unsurprisingly employment reduces the time i have to draw for not-work things by a lot. unfortunately i have one weird trick to create more time to draw called stop playing guild wars 2 in the evening.
as is usual now i started with a quick blender mockup to sketch over because i dont want to think about perspective anymore... once i'm happy with the composition i quickly lay down colors and do my lighting to get a sense of what the final piece should look like
from there it's all rendering.. which historically i have struggled to lock in to do. though this time i didn't feel pressured to finish it within 5-7 days i was able to take my time rendering the food. as it turns out when i have good references rendering is quite pleasant. then after some final polish i called the piece done!

Rarely do anything for pride but this year I managed to make two pieces in my old style.
They're available as prints if anyone likes them enough (and it also supports your friendly internet queer raccoon!)
Find them here!

Went to AnimeNYC! Went insane! Went home!
This was our first time at AnimeNYC and we are definitely going to go again (probably in cosplay next time.) We only went Friday but you wouldn't know it based on the number of books and stickers and prints and stuffed animals and-
Anyway, we did a speed run all of the show floor / artist alley in one day! We only are posting our haul now because our bones hurt quite a lot and we've been wildly busy since. We are definitely going to spread it out over multiple days next time like we do with Comic Con.
Stay tuned for reviews for the best graphic novels and manga from this haul! Also we got volume 2 of Ballad of Sword & Wine and volume 4 of Stars of Chaos a whole month early and that alone would have made going worth it lmao
