kim is such a funny little guy like he emphasizes how little the rcm salary is when you ask about it (5500 reál annually- 460/mo) but here he is with his nice electronic sports watch and his little instant camera and his fancy revolutionary cosplay for plainclothes and he's living in the GRIH which can't be cheap and he's got his fancy little mnemotechnique notebooks which are like the moleskine of elysium i guess and his fancy little ballpoints that he does NOT want to share with you which i bet is because they cost him like a week of salary. and this is the rcm he's not getting stipends for supplies or watches or housing or probably even the gas for the kineema. poor as fuck but he is going to buy himself his little treats god damn it. if he lived in our world you know he'd be out getting himself a $9 vanilla soy milk half caf dirty chai iced latte every morning on the way to the station and eating instant noodles every night to claw out room in the budget for it
#'kim is a black coffee kind of guy' false he drinks black coffee at work solely for appearance#given the choice he's like the typical iced latte extra caramel sauce 27 pumps of vanilla and whipped cream type of girlie#he won't admit it though. so he drinks it black at work. with one (1) sugar if he's feeling zesty#kim buying himself extremely nice and overpriced notebooks every couple weeks justifying it with 'it's for work'#he will justify any purchase to himself with 'it's for work' wherever possible#which results in insane feats of mental gymnastics. and yes that would include the $9 soy chai lattes#harry is broke bevause he spends r400 a month on booze.#kims budget is r110 kineema gas and mods r150 stationery r150 rent r20 pen ink refills r20 tailoring supplies and r10 food & misc#creature of pride indeed. love you kim#kiwipost#kk meta#kim kitsuragi#harry makes fun of the expensive pens until he writes with one then hes like no yeah this is a nice pen. im sorry for ever doubting you#actually even better if harry thinks its shitty. he'd prefer the cheap dollar store bulk pack 50c plastic ones#kim gets really defensive of his pens too. unreasonably defensive. personal insults may or may not be slung at this point#kim is sooo funny yes sir you are so so normal average sane mundane usual orthodox plain unremarkable spoilsport etc. whatever you say babe

Thinking abt skl life with bakugo
This is acc just me projecting guys im sorry academic bkg is my only motivation rn with uni like every time I procrastinate I can hear him yelling at me to focus
How you guys would always be studying at each others houses
You falling asleep at your desk and he’d put a blanket over you before walking back home after a long study session
How he has such strong ambition to do well and he values how much you share that ambition so he genuinely cares how u do with ur grades
How he’d let u doodle on the corners of his pages when u get bored and he’d pretend to be annoyed but never rub them out bc he likes the reminder that u were there
How he’d force u to concentrate by aggressively removing ur distractions
He’d throw ur phone across the room if u we’re scrolling
Or he’d come over to u watching tv and then turn it off without a word
“Hey I was watching?!” “not anymore” he replies with crazy sass in his voice
How he’d always let u know about useful seminars/events or resources even though he’d usually gate keep them from his classmates bc he (unhealthily) wants to be the best
How he doesn’t like to ask anyone but you for help on school stuff because he doesn’t wanna look dumb
Anytime he doesn’t get something in class he always makes a mental note to ask u abt it later
When u do explain smt back to him he’s such an active listener and isn’t afraid to ask u to re-explain things
He returns that favour to u and u get love heart eyes anytime he goes into a nerdy explanation bc it’s cute since he doesn’t usually talk for long periods
He gestures with his hands and everything with his reading glasses on to explain stuff to u and u only process it bc he’s so nice to look at so u ask him to explain things twice
How he bought you blue light glasses for ur bday bc u we’re always complaining abt getting head aches from staring at a screen all the time to study
How u guys would bulk buy stationary together and have matching notebooks pens pencil cases LOL
How his mum would always make u guys fancy snacks when u we’re studying at his
“Mitsuki u really don’t have to make something fancy everytime, im here every other day anyway”
“But isn’t that even more of a reason” she beams at u
How you’d take off his glasses for him when he falls asleep on his desk

Getting Started: Junk Journaling
So you want to get started with scrapbooking/junk journaling? This is a craft, like many others, that you can get started on with very little supplies! However, we'll get a little deeper into stuff as well for some additional tips and supplies that might be fun or helpful.
What You Absolutely Need
Scissors / Cutting Implements - If you can, buy a nicer pair of scissors for your own sanity, but any scissors will do starting out! Detail scissors specifically are really helpful. Exacto knives can also be helpful, but you'll also need a cutting mat if you don't already have one. This category is worth investing in because dull scissors are a nightmare.
Adhesive - ZipDry is designed for paper so it doesn't bleed through thin stuff and it dries quick and clear. Double sided tape rolls are also very helpful, especially with large areas or gluing a bunch of stuff quickly. This is an area worth investing in earlier! Thin paper and magazine paper will have bleed through with certain glues.
Notebook/Paper - Use what you have! If you, like me, have a million journals lying around, use that! As you get deeper in, you might find it helpful to specifically look for notebooks that lie flat when opened. You can also use sheets of art paper if you want to go more independent collage style rather than journaling. Watercolor paper/notebooks are nice because they are thicker, but you can use whatever.
Materials to Actually Cut/Glue/Use - Okay, here's where you really can do whatever you want forever and spend as little or as much as you want. You can cut up books and magazines you have on hand. If you have a printer, you can print stuff out! People sell really amazing curated mixed packs of materials (you can support some great shops on etsy doing very cool and niche stuff! If you are really on a budget, amazon sells some bulk packs as well).
Material Tip
If you don't have a husband that works in a mailroom (we are very lucky) and you don't have a lot of magazines on hand, try going to your local post office and dig through the recycling bin! A lot of people will throw out magazines/ads/catalogues there and you might find some gems. You can also get a free trial for some magazines and just cancel once they want to charge you money. Nic finds Vogue and GQ helpful for people. National Geographic can be helpful for backgrounds and animals.
Leveling up details below the cut!
Level Up
Slide Cutter - Make sure you get one with a replaceable blade! Super helpful for bulk cutting out big shapes.
"Okay, but I see people online with fancy stuff and I want to get in on that action!" you may say. Here is some fun stuff to play with!
If you see someone whose junk journaling content you like, you can also just reach out to them! A lot of people are happy to share links to the stuff they use and a lot of junk journalers online run their own shops/have affiliate links to the stuff they use!
Fun Junk Journaling Variety Packs - truly this is where a lot of people spend a lot of money because you can buy all sorts of fun niche packs depending on the vibe/focus you want to go with. You can also buy packs of quotes / letters / sayings. This can be helpful especially when doing character focused stuff. My wife really likes the packs from PengellyCrafts on etsy.
Washi Tape - People really like using washi tape, especially the transparent ones. These can be surprisingly expensive.
Transparent Stickers - These are fun because you can get a lot of detail and layering without intricate cutting. If you are careful with detail cutting you can cut the white border on normal stickers if you can't swing transparent ones.
Stamps - Like transparent stickers, this can add fun depth and layering, though with perhaps slightly less detail. The best part about stamps is that they are infinitely reusable and you can get all sorts of stamp pads. The downside is they are surprisingly expensive. You can even get stamps that help you make backgrounds like stars or wood texture. There are also "container" stamps like jars and bottles that you can put stuff in!
Embossing Powder - You can pair stamps with a glue stamp pad (or get glue markers) to use with embossing powder and a heat gun to create embossed details that add depth and texture. Make sure you are careful about what order you do things in when using heat!
Distress Ink (or Distress Oxide) & Blender/Diffuser - Make things look aged! This is a stamp pad you can use to make any paper or image look older than it is. Make sure you also get the little foam blender they also sell for application since it'll go on too thick if you try to use it directly on the paper.
Wax & Wax Seals - Wax can be fun to play with because it is both an adhesive and also adds dimension. Note: a lot of embossing or wax in a journal can make it hard to close a notebook.
Old Books - You can buy used books or use books that you don't want anymore for backgrounds to cut out words. Things like recipe books and encyclopedias can be especially helpful/vibe-y.
Fun Edges / Frames - You can get scrapbooking scissors or edge punches to add fun details and shapes to paper edge. It just depends on whether you like that look! Something like a simple round edge punch can be helpful.
Have Fun With It
Do you do other crafts, like painting or cricut? You can pair so many different crafts with junk journaling to make a cool multi-media piece. The most important thing to remember is to use what you have and have fun with it! Don't put off starting because you want all the bells and whistles or think you have to spend a bunch of money like the people who create junk journaling internet content! Create joyfully and lean into the chaos.
Please let us know if this guide was helpful and if you'd like a more specific buy list or tutorials on anything! We are here to help make crafting more accessible <3 You got this! Go junk journal!
If you want to see Nic's junk journaling, we are going to queue some in the next few days. Check our pinned post to find our junk journaling tag for inspiration!

Hello Mr.Haitch!
How are you??
I have me some questions today-
1) how do you keep your diet clean? I’m not one to indulge, but I’m such a picky eater that when I don’t like something I either go hungry all day, or ditch the food to binge on chips/ cup noodles etc. and I want to really break that cycle
2) if you were ever in a situation where there are two Haitchs, what will you do, or how will you differentiate the doppelgänger from the real Haitch?
3) what is something that you own, that you can absolutely go without but you still keep close/ insist on keeping/buying. (For me that would be my stacks of unused notebooks that I compulsively collect. I find them too pretty to write in😭)
4) call it morbid curiosity, but do you and Haitch ever go through the accounts that follow you? (Because I was scouring through my stuff sometimes thinking…what if they saw this or did they see this…is it cringe etc)
5) this is entirely optional and you can skip this, but Haitch’s handwriting is beautiful. Can you also do a handwriting reveal :0
That’s all!
Have a great evening!
1) At the moment, my diet is anything but clean. I'm naturally skinny so building muscle is a hard slog of constantly eating, constantly upping my intake. The boiled chicken, rice, and broccoli lifestyle gives me the creeps so focus on keeping my macros more or less where they should be and try not to go overboard. When I'm not bulking: I love salad and soups, and will often make my own.
2) If it's a clone situation- well, I'll look at that later. If it was the case of two people looking identical, to differentiate I'd have them watch me put the washing away.
3) Definitely the same - my ever increasing mound of notebooks.
4) I can't speak for @pseudowho, but yes I do occasionally flick through people's profiles.
5) This is a quote written on the board in my classroom which I occasionally use as a teaching tool:
My handwriting is pretty appalling. The other quotes are arranged in a kind of arch around the edges:
"Keep a fire burning, no matter how small. No matter how hidden." - Cormac McCarthy
"Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future." - Oscar Wilde
"Invent a flying machine or invent nothing at all, that is your own affair. You are pursuing an idea, that is enough." - Pyotr Kropotkin
"If you walk through life without helping anybody, then you haven't had much of a life." - Fred Hampton
"Stand for something, or you'll fall for anything." - Skindred

I had an idea and nothing to do with it so I'm sharing it: Pianist!Reader who becomes a neighbour to Gaz and Soap.
Soap: demands Reader plays Flower of Scotland at all hours of the day
Gaz: slips classical music suggestions under the door, denies having done this
Soap: battles that bitch Karen at 1A who complains about constant noise by assembling and disassembling guns As Loud As Possible
Gaz: goes with Reader on the long, ardous quest to buy a new piano (is armed with a bag that contains three water bottles, snacks, tissues, random collection of sheet music stolen from Reader, a notebook and pen, a recorder, measuring tape)
Gaz and Soap and the rest of the 141: somehow get dragged into carrying a fucking baby grand up five floors of stairs with Reader screaming at them DON'T DROP THIS PLEASE THIS COSTS MORE THAN MY ENTIRE LIFE LOOK OUT FOR THE CORNER DON'T SCRATCH THE WOOD!!!!!
Ghost: about murders Reader. Gets piano up the stairs instead.
A BABY GRAND, ANON??????

You aren’t going to pull your hair out. You’re not. You’re so stressed you’re almost not breathing, but you can be calm. So calm. You’ve never been so calm in your-
The big guy, Simon, grunts and shifts his weight, and the bulk of the piano tips, ever so slightly toward the wall.
“Please-”
“If you ask me to be careful one more time,” he grunts up at you, before you can say anything else, “I will throw this thing back down the stairs.”
Above Simon, Johnny and Kyle are looking more than a little winded. They’re so close to the apartment, just half a flight and a couple of meters of hallway. You have faith that they’ll make it. You have to. It’s not like they can stop. You’re trying not to hover, at the top of the stairs, but it’s so fucking hard.
A firm hand takes hold of your elbow and draws you away, toward your door. You try to resist, but John, the other man you met today, is guiding you away.
“Let’s clear the hall so that they have the space they need when they get up here.”
Something gives an ominous thump behind you, and you try to turn back. “But-!”
“Nope,” he says, clamping both hands on your shoulders and marching you away.

Palestine With Keffiyeh Patterns
My best friend (the best person I have EVER known) is Palestinian, and a lot of his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. ALL PROCEEDS from these designs will go first and foremost to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely, and after that helping his other loved ones weather this war.
These six keffiyeh pattern maps are now available in my shop. I like the top left in particular, the folds of the fabric follow the shape of the country nicely. Available individually or in a sticker pack containing smaller versions of all six. Designs are also available on other products like shirts, hats, notebooks, etc. The shop will randomize which product it shows you, click on them to see more options.
Thank you so much to the anonymous Canadian customer who bought the keffiyeh wearing dove on a sweatshirt this morning. You are a wonderful person.
I've seen a lot of people buy stickers from various sources or make their own to hand out at protests (personally I was thrilled to receive handmade solidarity stickers from a kind woman at my last union action), so if you're looking to take advantage of Redbubble's bulk deals I might suggest that use.

Things That People With Kiddos Should Know As Someone With Kiddos
This is by no means an extensive list of things parents/guardians/caretakers should know and take into account when raising and taking care of kids, nor is this telling you how to run a household or parent, however, from my experience, these things can make your life SO MUCH EASIER and make the relationship with your kiddos and you much smoother. I'm mostly going to be focusing on more adolescent-specific topics, but a lot of this advice can be applied to kids of all ages. Some of these things that I mention might work perfectly for you and your kiddos, and some of them might not. Some of them you might have to practice working on or modify them to fit your situation. Not everything on here is golden for everyone, and not everything on here is trash either. What works for one situation might not work for another.
With that being said, let's get to it.
Take your kids clothes shopping in person as much as possible. Make them try everything that they pick on. Kid's measurements are weird and are going to be changing drastically throughout their lives. Find the clothes they like and fit into in person and buy them online for cheaper (or in person. Whatever floats your boat)
Do not waste money on surprises unless you know FOR A FACT that they're going to like it! What does for a fact mean? Well, they've either explicitly stated that they want the item, or dropped some obvious as hell hints! Do not go guessing and buying based on what you think they'll like, or what you like. That's setting you, and your kid up for failure.
Be interested in things they're interested in. Your kid likes Taylor Swift? Cool! Your reaction should be "awesome, you wanna listen to the Era's Tour setlist in the car?" or, "what's your favorite album, let's listen to it together!"
Similarly, if your kiddo creates (art, music, poetry, stories, crafts, woodwork, videos, coding, etc,.) BE INTERESTED IN THAT. Consume their work! Show interest in it! Ask to read their writing, ask to see their art, ask to listen to their compositions. They might not say yes, but make it clear that you want to, and that's something that excites you. This will bring your kiddo joy.
DO NOT. AND I REPEAT. DO NOT. BELITTLE THEIR INTERESTS. Remember: You were once a kid with wacky interests, too. Kids are always searching for validation, whether they exhibit it or not. And even if they aren't? It's just a dick move to make fun of them for something they like.
buy pencils, pens, and notebooks in bulk. You'll need them.
Oh, and sticky notes.
If your kiddo comes to you for help of any kind, academic or otherwise, you damn well help them. "I need help studying for my math test tomorrow," ok, whaddya struggling with? How can I help? Do you just need a body double here, or should I do some problems with you?
give them notes. In their lunches, on their desks, in presents, on the fridge- hell, stick it on their doors! It doesn't have to be anything long- just a simple "morning!" or, "have a great day!" works, too.
Tell them you love them and that you're proud of them. Regularly. I know there are some people who think that makes their kids soft but I assure you, you're doing the exact opposite. By building your kids up, and regularly telling them that you love them and are proud of them, they know that they are valued and worthy and loved. This will set them up for success later in life and make them emotionally intelligent and flexible. Also, kids don't hear it enough these days.
They're going to see some scary shit. You can't avoid it. This past year I had to report three attempted suicides and many more cases of self-harm that came from other peers and people I was very close to. I initially was not processing the fact that someone so close to me was hurting themselves or trying to kill themselves, and the reporting process (sometimes even involving police) was extremely traumatizing. When I finally did cry, it came days later, and even today someone might say the name of one of these people and I will immediately shut down and change my whole demeanor. And I know our kiddos are experiencing these things, so please, be there for your kids and always tell them that telling adults when someone they know is hurting themselves or trying to end their life is important and could save their friends and loved ones.
Be prepared for your kids to have some kind of mental illness or learning disability. Do not try and gaslight them by saying that it's "all in their heads" (no shit?) or that they're "making things up." take everything seriously. "Mom, I think I have adhd," alright, let's see a doctor and do some research. "Tia, I'm so tired all the time and I just want to disappear," darling, that's not healthy, that's a sign of depression- you're important and loved, how about we set up a session with a therapist so you can talk to someone about these feelings who can help you better than I can?
Always be prepared to help your kiddos and reach out to licensed professionals who can help them.
carry snacks with you everywhere. And not that healthy shit, either. Within your kid's eating restrictions, get something like a chocolate chip granola bar or a Reese's cup and stick it in your going-out bag. It will save your life when hungry time comes around.
Don't be surprised if your kids are queer in some shape or form. Support them, love them unconditionally, make sexuality puns as needed ("if you're not dating anyone rn, does that mean you're on stand-bi?") and do your own research in regard to sexuality and gender.
help them get ready for school dances and stuff. Makeup, hair, clothes, pickup lines, the whole ordeal. I promise you they're going to love you for it.
Make the puberty/sex talk a casual yet thorough thing. You want to cover all the information, but you don't want to make it so uptight that they never want to talk about it again or ask any questions. Pull up diagrams, do the whole shebang, but make it clear that they don't have to memorize everything in that very moment. Questions are ok, even after the fact.
Take them to the library.
For all your menstruating kiddos out there, stock up on pads and tampons and anything else they use every month/every other month depending on how much they use. Don't make it seem like a hassle, don't make difficult, just do it without question. If they tell you they like a certain brand or type/size/etc, adhere to that and respect it. Menstruating is uncomfortable as is, don't make it worse by not listening to your kid's needs.
Give them this thing I like to call Cuddle Days (or sensory overload days, or Overstimulated, Get Me Outta Here days). These are the kinda days that can show up on weekends after a long week and basically it's a ton of movies, pillow forts, blankets, and comfort food. And lots of cuddles, of course.
Don't guilt trip them for existing having needs. Your kids are going to need a lot and do a lot and they are grateful, but it just feels weird to express that feeling of gratitude as a teenager.
And, most importantly, let them be kids. Let them have pillow fights, and roll on the grass. Hang fairy lights up and tell them stories. Giggle about their crushes with them, and paint your nails together. Play Mario Cart and eat takeout together. Kids are so complex and amazing and it would be a shame if we took away the part about being kids in the process of them growing up, because one day they're not gonna be our babies anymore.

After Christmas sales... what is everyone getting?
Haley loves a good deal! She will stockup on her favorite cosmetics and pick up photo solution for her dark room.
Alex has finally saved enough money for an autographed gridball card. He's been saving all year long.
Sebastian is down to shop for computer parts so he can finally make the upgrades he wants.
Sophia will browse the bargain bin animes.
Sam is looking for a rad new skateboard. Maybe some new guitar picks too. And oh! Some CDs of his favorite bands. Wow! His Fave holiday movie is on sale. Oh and batteries. Can't miss discounted batteries in the checkout aisle.
Shane doesn't really care for sales. Unless it's pizza coupons. Yeah, he'll take an XL pepperoni and extra packs of spicy red pepper flakes. Maybe a 2 liter of Joja cola and a side of cinnabread for Marnie and Jas.
Leah always enjoys browsing the art store for extra paints, and random craft projects. Maybe she will stop by the blacksmith for a new chisel too.
Penny and Claire ride share so they can both pick up new books. 99cent paperbacks are hard to beat. A collection of historical fiction and a tawdry romance for Penny. The history of dance and a book on birdwatching for Claire.
Maru... head in the clouds. Always thinking about robotics. She might grab a spare part here or there for her latest project. Maybe a belated gift for Harvey.
Harvey will grab his favorite bulk coffee and maybe he will even splurge on a discounted pair of aviator goggles. Just for fun.
Victor is looking to add notebooks to his collection, for his building calculations. Oh and maybe a nice fountain pen.
Olivia is a girl who loves jewelry. It's not in poor taste to buy discount, is it? She is happy to save a few dollars, which she donates to the Santa collecting for charity outside the mall.
Abigail is beyond thrilled to find her uni textbooks for a steal. Normally they cost an arm and leg.
Elliott picks up some sheet music on a lark. He is determined to learn new songs in the new year to come.
Emily comes home with an armful of yarn. Winter is in swing. And everyone needs warm sweaters.
Magnus is not fond of shopping. But he does pick up a pound of birdseed to feed the cardinals at his doorstep.
Lance needs a good pair of winter boots to traverse the snow on his many adventures.

In my au where bro strider is the kinda fucked up uncle figure who's trying alpha Dave is definitely the single father who doesn't fully know what he's doing but is holding it together with a couple parenting books and observation
Like I could see that man finding out about Bluey, turning it on because it's a kids show and Dirk might like it, and then watching himself because he's actually getting parenting tips from it even though Dirk would rather be watching my little pony
That aside he definitely has a notebook to make notes on anything Dirk enjoys/milestone so he can't forget it
Oh Dirk said a certain brand of juice tastes better? Noted
Dirk lost his seventh tooth? Noted with a polaroid of said tooth
Dirk said he likes this very specific pen with this very specific line thickness because it's great for detailing drawings? Made a note to keep that shit stocked up, mans probably buys it in bulk

hi! which kind of pen do you think it’s the most comfortable to write with, fountain pens or rollerballs? i’m still learning about pens and i tried googling the differences between them but some websites say that fountain pens are more comfortable and others say that they’re basically the same thing, but rollerballs are more practical. also, do you think fountain pens are a lot of work? i heard someone saying that fountain pens are not worth it because the ink doesn’t even last a week and it leaks and you have to buy the right kind of paper and stuff like that… i’m still curious about fountain pens though, and i wanted to hear your opinion about it! :) thanks in advance!
Heyo, my fellow stationery lover! 🥰💕🖋🖊
It's so nice of you to ask about this, and I totally understand how it all sounds confusing depending on who and where you take your information from. I, myself, had a long run over the years to learn the differences and what works best with my writing style.
So, I'll start retroactively and sort of correct your friend there, because fountain pens and rollerball pens both need good paper to give their best performance. However, as a beginner I'd tell you to work with what you have, which means adequating your chosen pen nib to the paper you have at your immediate disposal.
As an example: I started writing on printer paper and normal everyday notebooks (those you buy in bulk from dollar store to be more precise). Sure, I didn't have the luxury of writing on both sides of the pages, because both fountain pens and rollerballs are usually heavy on the dispense of their inks in this kind of paper, but it taught me about size and flow.
Tip/Nib Size:
Fountain pens work on the range of Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, Double Broad and Stub (stubs often go from 1.0 to 3.0 size, the bigger the number the larger it'll be, they're usually associated with Goth Style calligraphy). The stub nib is also known as the italic nib, it writes thin on the horizontal and diagonals, but when doing a vertical, downward stroke, it becomes thick. (You can see some different nib sizes on the image bellow)
Rollerball pens work on a range of 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0, 1.5, and 1.9 tips, with the easiest tips to find going from 0.3 to 0.8. And their tips will always be just simple round ones with not much variation in terms of colors. (I'm sorry for not having a photo to explain this one, but my rollerball has given up on me this Monday morning and ran the last of its drops of ink 😂 I need to get a new one)
Flow:
Fountain pens and rollerballs work in kind of the same manner in terms of dispensing their ink, they work through capilary mechanisms and gravity. You have to have them down in contact with the paper to make the ink go down to the tip/nib in order to make it work.
The flow usually derives from the kind of ink that are being dispensed and the kind of nib/tip on your pen. The bigger the nib/tip size the more ink will be dispensed on the paper and so the faster you'll need to fill the fountain pen back or buy a new rollerball/refill your rollerball.
About fountain pens not being worth it...
That's a common misconception, because in today's world a lot of people prefer to exchange customization for practicality.
Fountain pens require a little bit of maintainance, because most aren't disposable, the biggest number of them, even the cheapest ones, are meant to last if you don't simply throw it in your bag and have the bag be benchpressed by a rollertruck or be in the way of an explosion (et me tell you, I've yet to find an every day hurdle that can break a Lamy Safari PBS body and stainless steel nib @-@ it scratches and fades, but doesn't break, and I have this baby for around 10 years now, it faced two college degrees with me). A fact that becomes more evident when you see the fact that most brands design converters for their pens.
Most fountain pens can be customized to your liking, from the nib, to the feeder (the part that brings the ink from the cartridge/reservoir/converter) to the nib, to the body, to the ink you write with. They become a sort of statement of your style.
From top to bottom:
- Majohn Moonman C1 (10USD) (can be used with a converter, but I prefer to fill the body with ink for maximum capacity, around 5ml)
- Lamy Safari (20-30USD)
- Wing Sung 3008 (5USD) (built in piston sucks the ink into the pen for maximum capacity, around 2.5ml)
- Pilot Kakuno (15USD) (with Con-70 converter, around 1.7ml)
- Jinhao Centurion (10USD)
- Jinhao 9019 Dadao (10USD) (biggest converter I've ever seen, carrying up to 3ml of ink)
- Jinhao 82 (3USD)
- Tramol T100 (4USD) (full body holds 2ml)
A comparison between the nibs of the Jinhao 9019 Dadao, Jinhao 82 and Majohn Moonman C1. As you can see, I have the heartbit limited edition fine nib on the Dadao, while the 82 has a dual color nib and the Majohn has a long and slightly narrower nib. These are all customizations.
As you can see, there are fountain pens for all styles, likings and price ranges. From the thicc ones with double and triple Cs (I'm looking at you, Dadao) to the more minimalist and sturdy ones, like the Lamy Safari, which is a model that's been around in the market since the 80s and, if you want to be even more conservative, there's always the Pilot 78G and 78G+ that's been around since 1991; if you're one to love traveling, it's hard to go wrong the brass body Traveler's one too.
About the ink not lasting, spillages and all that jazz...
When you buy a fountain pen, they usually come with an ink cartridge, which in my experince last around 2 weeks with me writing daily for 8 hours a day (for my daytime job). However, that depends on the size of the cartridge, smaller ones won't last as long, but they're often the ones you can find more easily on your local stores, since this makes for a bigger compatibility between pen and cartridge due to the thickness of certain barrels (some brands have their own style of cartridges, like Parker and Pilot).
Personally I remedy this by simply having a bottle of Noodler's Ink (this one of the link even comes with a nice beginner friendly pen in the package) on the side and a make-up siringe to suck all the ink from the bottle to the cartridge that comes with the pen. It's much more enviromentally friendly than the rollerballs that usually aren't refillable.
The whole spillage happens because of mishandling. I personally only had one single episode when I was a newbie and brought a fountain pen on an airplane, the pressure change made the ink go kaboom in the pen, but my cap held up well and all I had to do was wash it once I landed. I know some people who are heavy handed also have ink spillage accidents, but again, that's due to mishandling, as fountain pens don't require pressure to get the ink writing on the paper. And, of course, like any liquid, if you shake it hard enough, it will, eventually, spill everywhere in one way or another, but that is a risk that also exists on rollerballs.
Which one is better: Fountain Pens or Rollerball Pens?
I can't emphazise enough that this is an opinion and I enjoy most writing instruments, for each has their very own beauty.
Personally, see fountain pens as a long-time commitment while the rollerballs are more of a shortterm "save me in a pinch" type of pen.
Fountain pens often help correct writing vices that cause harm to the hands and wrists, they train you to slow down for a moment to mind your grip and angle, and in exchange give you the beautiful experience of premium writing with an instrument that's all your own, if not by nib and body, by ink, because every single fountain pen lover has their very own favorite (if not beloved) shade. They give you a freedom that other pens don't usually give in terms of color, you can even like a simple everyday blue, but you can choose from a Pilot Kon-peki to a Waterman Inspire Blue, and don't get me started on the inks that change shade once they dry out or that have metalic shimmer mixed in their composition.
Rollerballs will save me if I don't have my fountain pen with me (I carry a Lamy Safari everywhere I go) and need to jolt down some quick notes, but not write for a long while. They don't feel so good, because my angle of writing (near 45°).
In summary: I wrote this post defending the fountain pens, because I know the discourse of them being obsolete and inpractical that's everywhere, but I see both rollerballs and fountain pens as excellent writing instruments that deserve equal space in our lives, pen pouches and pencil cases 🥰💕🖋🖊
I hope this helps you a little, my fellow writing friend.
Happy writing!

One thing thats fucked up looking back on it is back when i was in elementary/middle school there were 2 booths in my schools garden. One was for food items, snacks, drinks etc and basically that was how you fed yourself during recess but the other one was for pens, erasers, notebooks etc. but MAINLY they would bring weird toys every now and then and it was like, this odd hierarchy to be able to buy these weird toys. ESPECIALLY STICKERS were so popular, they would bring them in bulk and there were always people begging for you to share one with them. For some reason thinking about a bunch of elementary school kids being coerced into spending money on weird knick nacks during recess just feels wEIRD. (These were a part of the school btw. So since you couldnt leave school grounds you could only buy your shit from here)
#is this a thing in other countries#i so clearly remember these like. weird coin purses#i was obsessed

Summer Goals 2024
Personal goals while i'm here
get back on track for my 12-book reading goal (starting a nonfiction book last month grinded my progress to a halt, gotta catch up) (prob w SJM)
crochet one (1) item of clothing (preferably in a public park, a la "the most interesting girl in the city" ofc)
learn mosaic crochet so I can finally make a Journey scarf (but the cream and gold one bc mosaic can only use two yarn colors at a time)
keep up with coding! probably just working on my game(s) for fun hehe
hit da club - technically complete 11 may
flirt with ONE man - complete 25 may
export all R code from my undergrad dropbox
clean up my undergrad gdrive
read Nightwing Vol 1: Leaping into the Light (2016(?)) (and also the rest of that run bc the pinterest images have me hooked omg (though apparently it hasn't ended yet which,,,, ugh is annoying))
if not Nightwing then the Hawkeye run which my photo-friend believes is what Nightwing was in response to - complete 24 may
start learning music theory
try regular workouts at home or at the campus gym to gain upper body strength and improve cardiovascular health
cut out/assemble the pattern for that dress i wanna make
go to a classical music concert
open a HYSA!!!
Academic goals
brush up on my chimpanzee knowledge (1-2 articles a week) to prep for the class in the fall
go through the bioinformatics lectures on youtube from the class at this uni which is no longer taught but is apparently excellent (??? hours per week)
set up my coding environment and learn how to do basic bulk transcriptomic/epigenetic analyses
histology!!! (also fill out my lab notebook omg)
learn how to fully use a citation software (should only take a week or so)
Goals for when I visit home
make an indexed pattern binder so i can see every pattern i have up front and stop buying new ones that do the same things as ones I already own
assign many/most of my fabrics to particular projects
finish the black half circle skirt (waistband, bound buttonhole, hem!)
floral sleeveless mock neck top (mock up first?)
finish the trouser mockup
play my uke
play my flute... and earnestly attempt improvisation
binge pjo binge pjo binge pjo binge pjo binge pjo bi
The sewing ones are admittedly a little ambitious, as always, but I think the others are very very very doable, if a little crowded. The most challenging will probably be keeping up with python, working out regularly, music theory, and also finding the confidence to flirt (but who knows? maybe I won't have to force it). I don't anticipate being able to hit them all (I never do!), but it's nice to have options.
I think if I want to hit a lot of them though, I'm going to have to be structured with my day/week. Set up various curricula, timelines, (flexible) deadlines. Plus, some of these goals are very short-term, and should only take a day or week at most. I can totally sketch out what gets done when, and should have enough wiggle room in case things need to shift.
(also i did have 2023 goals i just never published them bc i forgor)

Here's a story. When I was growing up, I was convinced that fairies were real. I read every book I could find about them. Obviously, since I was little, the books started out fluffy and light, but when I'd made my way through the content available to me at the library, I moved towards folk stories, the older, weirder stuff.
I created an in-depth fantasy world about all the different kinds of fae I'd read about. I made myself a part of it; I had to be a changling, after all. Nothing else made sense. My parents swore I wasn't adopted, so being a changling was the obvious conclusion.
I wrote stories upon stories of this world. I came up with dozens of characters. I filled out dozens of notebooks- my mom used to buy notebooks in bulk at the beginning of the school year for 5 cents a piece, can you imagine?
I wrote. I read. The cycle continued. When I found Sailor Moon, the stories took on a more magical girl feel to them.
It sounds dedicated, but looking back, it breaks my heart. Everything else about my world, my real world, was wrong. I was bullied by teachers and students alike, and my home life was horrible. I was a perpetual outsider everywhere but my own inner world.
To me, none of it was fictional; it was real. I thought about it constantly. I had conversations with the characters. I think the word for it now would be "maladaptive daydreaming."
I stopped a couple months before my fourteenth birthday. A couple years later, I stopped thinking about it at all. Some kids found one of my notebooks, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed. My parents were mad at me for being so foolish, for letting myself get embarrassed.
Can I be honest with you? I know it wasn't the healthiest coping mechanism, but I miss it so much sometimes. I miss being able to believe in magic. As a teen, I even tried practicing witchcraft, I researched pagan faiths, tried to believe in something again...and nothing ever filled the void. It felt nice to have something.
I still try to write, but I've lost the fervor of my youth. We do some tabletop roleplaying, and it's fun, but I just...feel so detached from everything.
Now that I have the word autism...now that I'm a adult...it's different. Sometimes I wish it wasn't. I have this fantasy...it only pops into my head every once in a while, but I have this fantasy where those old stories were true. I've thought about writing a story about it. How funny is that? Writing a story about a story.
I've heard other autistic adults having similar thoughts during their own childhoods. That feeling of not belonging, of not being right for the world, of being alien in your own home...some days, I feel it more strongly than ever, but now, I know I'm human, even when I don't feel it.

The 3 R's of Waste Management
Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
The 3 R's are the necessary foundations of conservation and waste management techniques for a more sustainable lifestyle.
Sustainability, in its environmental definition, is the ability to maintain conditions supporting biological life on Earth by preserving natural resources. The continued prevalence of diminished natural resources due to the rise in greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide and methane, from human activity over the past decades has impacted our course of sustainability on planet Earth. However, reducing, reusing, and recycling materials will lessen energy consumption instead of mining, extracting, and producing new goods with raw materials. These forms of waste management will allow trees to be planted in areas to lessen the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that would otherwise be used as landfills for trash.
Reduce
Overconsumption of products that yield mass amounts of trash can contribute to the problem that waste management is trying to fix. Being aware of the issue at its roots and diminishing the need to throw away items can better sustain and handle the waste output that one is producing. Reducing the amount of discarded waste can also lessen the need to reuse or recycle items constantly.
Some ways to reduce and use preventative measures are to:
use reusable forms of everyday daily items such as reusable beeswax food wraps, washable utensils, electric lighters, metal razors, and recycled grocery bags
compost compostable foods at compost centers in your state
shop at zero-waste grocery stores in your state
avoid throwaway items such as single-use cutlery and dishes
replace paper items with fabric or cloth options such as fabric napkins, dishcloths, and cotton paper towels
buy products in bulk as opposed to small, single-use containers
Reuse
Often, it can be easy to discard packaging or items that no longer work or have a use for them. Instead, one should put creativity into practice when thinking of ways to reuse an object instead of throwing it out entirely and increasing waste output.
Some ways to reuse common thrown-away items are to:
turn used milk, coffee, juice, and water cartons into birdhouses
grow seedlings in empty egg cartons
use empty plastic milk jugs for your garden in creative ways
clean out glass jars or containers and repurpose them as a storage component
sell or donate old clothes, furniture, appliances, etc., to those who can use it
reuse grocery bags to cover small trashcans or on your next trip to the store
utilize newspaper as a way to cushion fragile items for storage
use leftover wood as fuel for bonfires
donate old notebooks and books for children who are in need of them
Recycle ♻️
At times, it can be easier to throw away used goods rather than recycle them and allow them to redirect potential waste from landfills, conserve energy, and reduce the need to extract new materials for new products. According to the EPA, "recycling one ton of paper would save enough energy to power the average American home for six months, save 7,000 gallons of water, save 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by one metric ton of carbon equivalent (MTCE)."
Some ways to get started with recycling items can be to:
buy items that are made with recycled materials so that once it is used up, you can recycle them and restart the process
educate yourself on the plastic recycling symbols and learn what they mean and if they can be recycled
be aware of the fact that not all plastics can be recycled at certain facilities
clean out hazardous/unrecyclable contents before recycling items
choose to buy things that are made with water-soluble solutions instead of chemical-based solvents
look out for materials that local recycling facilities are accepting, and start collecting recyclable items
use public blue bins that indicate if they accept paper, glass, or plastic for an easy-access recycling system
Efforts to start being sustainable might seem to make a slight difference amongst the tons of trash thrown away daily, but having one person reuse, reduce, and recycle, can make a big difference in a healthier Earth.

[Image description: a reddit post in r/ADHD by u/Phaesporic that reads:
When you buy things, pay the ADHD tax upfront
[plain text: When you buy things, pay the ADHD tax upfront]
I've seen a lot of posts about the ADHD tax-- the late fees, the groceries that go bad, lost items, impulse purchases we never touch... you get the picture. It's real, and it sucks.
One thing I've noticed lately, though, is how sometimes, you can get away with paying a smaller ADHD tax if you plan ahead when you buy things. Hear me out.
1. I could buy a whole crown of fresh broccoli for like, $1.50, but I won't get around to washing, cutting, and preparing it. A $2.50 bag of pre-cut, pre-washed broccoli will get eaten. Instead of a $1.50 ADHD tax for broccoli I won't eat, it's a $1.00 tax for broccoli I will eat.
2. A cute planner or notebook with a great layout is worth $30 if I will actually use it. An awkward-to-use planner that I'm not motivated to ever touch is useless, and not worth spending even $5 on.
3. With vitamins, if they're not gummies, I won't maintain the habit of taking them. I'll pay extra for the gummy vites that I will use versus the regular ones I will waste.
Other things include: paying for Spotify Premium because I know that ads (or going to find music elsewhere) will distract me. Only buying clothes from stores with really long return windows, even if it's pricier (REI lets you return things for a full year, bro). Paying more for a phone with a really long battery life so it's not dead half the time.
As someone who was raised to be frugal, a lot of this stuff feels kinda shameful almost? But when I stop and think about it, I stand by my assessment that it's actually cheaper this way.
Edit: thank you! but please don't spend money on awards. spend it on pre-washed, fresh cut broccoli, pals
Edit 2: Y'all make some great points. The encouragement and understanding in the comments is making my whole week.
After some further reflection, some things really stand out to me:
Viewing willpower and energy as limited resources is critical. Purchases are cost + willpower + energy. Whole, unwashed broccoli is lower on cost but higher on willpower and energy demands.
-> I feel like we can punish ourselves for wasting time. Like I convinced myself "don't buy pre-prepped veggies if you're gonna waste 8 hrs on video games, you can spare the time." But that's basically punishing myself for having ADHD by depriving myself of vegetables I'd actually eat.
-> Besides, maybe the 20 mins I save by having pre-prepped broccoli means I have enough mental energy to wash some dishes after I eat, which means washing dishes on Saturday takes 40 minutes instead of an hour, which means I have enough energy to clean my room, and so on.
2. Frozen vegetables & fruit, meal kits, and bulk purchases help. I will also add: did you know you can freeze bread?? Then toast it and it's good!
3. Point of caution: spending more on something doesn't necessarily mean it's more likely to be used. We have all been there. But if something will genuinely be more usable or more functional at a higher cost, it might be really worth it.
