Carlos needs to reevaluate everything within his team. I understand he keeps family close and wants a Spanish team, but something has to give. Other top players like Jannik, Iga, and Coco made drastic changes in their teams when after experiencing devastating losses. He needs to do the same. Often times when he sees his opponents struggling, he let's them back into the game. He shows way too much sympathy on the court and it has been his downfall in the past. I'm not saying he shouldn't be nice, he just needs to turn up the aggression. He has to be ruthless. When Novak and Jannik see an opening in their opponents, they let them have it and show no mercy. Carlos has to do the same

A little advice for those first entering the workforce.

They're not your friends.

Management for one. No, not even the Nice Manager. They will guilt, blackmail and bully you into working overtime. Sometimes it's by hinting your job/vacation/promotion hang in the balance. These are the same people who preach about "sacrifice" but never seem to make any. They want you to "take initiative" but that really means "take on more work/projects". This might look good on your yearly review but it rarely translates into promotion/raises.

Your coworkers are not your friends.

No. Not even if you were friends before you started work.

These people will make you take up your slack, want you to take a shift or switch shifts but never help you. Some of them look for things to snitch on you for. They're also two-faced and badmouth you behind your back.

Be careful of what you say or do around these people. Maybe they're cool in their downtime but still not your friend. While you're defending your work buddy watch out for your good friend throwing you under the bus to save their own skin.

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

Well, that’s length-wise rather than height-wise, but yes! That would be the giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), fellow countrymen of mine!

In fact, saying they’re 170 cm (5’7”) from head to tail is lowballing it a little. Some individuals as long as 180 cm (5’11”) have been recorded! Which is longer than I am tall 😔

You might have noticed that giant otters have a bit of a big cat-like look about themselves. That’s the origin of their name in Brazilian Portuguese, ariranha, which is a term from the Tupi-Guarani language and means “river jaguar”. And, just like ground jaguars, giant otters are apex predators as well: they mainly eat fish, but will hunt anything from snakes, turtles and even small caimans if given the opportunity!

Besides their size, giant otters have other traits that set them apart from their smaller cousins. For one, unlike most mustelids, they’re social animals who live in familial groups of up to twenty individuals, which whom they communicate constantly through a variety of different noises. Also, unlike other species of otter, whose tails are thick at the base and pointy at the end, giant otters’ tails also start out with a thick base, but they end up flat, which helps propel them through the water. The interesting thing about it, however, it’s that it’s not flat in an horizontal way, like the tails of other semiaquatic mammals such as beavers and platypuses. It’s flat vertically, not unlike the tail of a newt!
