The fact that most European companies treat their non-European employees like shit- despite the fact that Western Europeans enjoy the highest level of workers' rights in the world- just because they can get away with it in the United States or whatever is proof why regulations are needed.

European workers are only treated better than their American counterparts because there are laws protecting them, not because European corporations are so much more humanitarian than American companies. Everytime I see discourse about kink or nudity at pride I get reminded of the time I went to pride a few years ago with my mother and my sibling- who was 17 at the time and is somewhere on the ace spectrum- and about halfway through, the march went under a gatehouse. Some inhabitants were sitting in their open windows watching the parade. Right before we crossed under them, one of them decided to just... take her shirt off. She wasn't wearing a bra. And you know what happened? People whooped and cheered, and then kept walking. That's it. And there were kids around!! They didn't care. My sibling didn't care. My mother, a cisgender heterosexual woman in her 50s, did not care.

This stuff stops being such a big deal when you go offline. It was basically the same amount of boob you'd see in any perfume ad. No one was like 'what about the children?' And if you didn't wanna see it and looked down, no one would've called you a puritanical prude for that. And it helps to remind myself of that everytime I see kink at pride discourse getting rehashed because at actual pride, people don't care.

I know you it's not your job to educate me and have no obligation, but if you don't mind, could I ask what your experience of views towards asexuality in Israel are? I'm an American asexual with Israeli family I'm just getting to know since we were in different countries and weren't really in contact until recently. I'm wondering how asexuality is viewed there and what to expect about social attitudes towards it?

honestly I got no clue, the only people who really know I'm ace are my queer friends (who are already educated from western media on what lgbtq is), and my mom.

my mom is all "don't label yourself because you're putting yourself in a box and blocking yourself to new experiences, you're you and that's what matters (also asexuality isn't a thing you're just childish)", I don't know if her views are an accurate example of what the average Israeli thinks, because I'm pretty sure she's somewhere under the NB and bi umbrellas and just doesn't feel the need to use labels, but she's the only "negative" experience I had with coming out as ace, other people probably wouldn't care about your lack of sex life.

also my dad is a whole other story but I gave up on explaining to him what queerness is, he tries to support at least, in a way of "I have no idea what this is and I don't really like it, but it's your life and I can't control what you do with it, I'm gonna give my opinion sometimes (aka scoff and say it's bullshit) but I'm not gonna force you to do anything". which is better than nothing! I can't force him to understand what non binary means or why I want top surgery (he's against all cosmetical surgeries not just gender), and he can't force me to be Normal™, win win ☺️.

i need more irrelevant details about the darren-dating-leilah-and-sera-living-with-them situation, because, while the whole wanted terrorrists thing is ofc very sad and stressful for them, it is also absolutely hilarious. like, imagine you just found out that your ex-school nurse, a grumpy, eternally tired man who you honestly thought would die single, is dating your (canonically) hot kind older sister, who you hadn't seen in years because she ran away from your abusive parents. also, she and him both sorta work for a terrorrist organization now. the same organization that stole your ability. your sister actively helped to develop the drug that disabled you. her solution to the problem of your ability loss is to also join the terrorrist organization. the terrorrists backstab you and disable your best friend. you decide to betray the organization, but then you're declared a wanted terrorrist by the government so you hide in your sister's apartment. that she shares with your ex-school nurse. before he quit, you spent more time around this man than around any of your actual teachers. then the government busts your future brother-in-law's door down and you have to go on the run. with your sister and her boyfriend.

do leilah and darren do a lot of couple-y things? does sera see them kiss and immediately wishes for the sweet release of death or at least some fresh air, only to realise she is stuck inside with these two for the foreseeable future? is it like the covid lockdown but worse?? at least covid never shot you on sight if you ever left the house on a grocery run.
