One of the dumb things I do at home is walk around while reading (something I'm fairly adept at but does cause consistent minor to occasionally major issues)
Due to a natural disaster I now temporarily live in a state with something I have a phobia of (again), and have encountered several times in the house in just the week I've been here, so now I have to carefully scope out the entire room every time I walk around and maintain a situational awareness that is truly exhausting to maintain
True home is safety, and true safety is the safety to do silly things without fear of disproportionate consequences
#Helene made my home unhabitable for an indefinite amount of time#so now I live in Texas again#somewhere I swore never to move back to#because it has hurricanes and cockroaches and bad laws#and twice in my life in the 10 years I lived here I woke up with a cockroach on my face#and there's been so many cockroaches in this house already#when I lived here I had constant situational awareness at home because abusive home life and cockroaches#and these people aren't abusive but they are my in-laws and very stressful even though they're great in many ways#I am so tired#and miss home#had a serious internal debate today about moving back despite the conditions#it would be stupid buuuuuuuuut#not living with extroverts#the amount of things I can do while simultaneously reading is impressive and stupid#it's been a week and a half and I'm already homesick RIP#high revelations as I deal with homesickness yay#yes I said something

So the thing that gets me about Starlo — the thing that really gets me — is how much this guy hates himself.
It's not something you notice the first time you're playing, because he's so confident and enthusiastic. He'd almost be cool if he wasn't such a dork. But after replaying the game with the context of where he came from, — and I'll admit, after reading some very interesting, in-depth fanfics and analysis about him, I'll try to link them if I find them again — his character becomes a bit... blurred. How much of this is Starlo, and how much of it is North Star?
Because- because the whole point of his sheriff persona is that he gets to be someone else, isn't it? When he's out there rootin' and tootin', acting out his hero fantasies and trying to imitate the characters from the westerns he admires, he becomes someone much cooler than himself. North Star is everything Starlo wishes he was: the fearless leader, the cunning cowboy, the confident sheriff who saves lives and wrangles bandits and hangs out with humans. Not just some nobody farmer who could disappear in the corn field without anyone noticing, not the son who wastes his time on daydreams.
He craves praise so deeply. That's the big difference between Star and Papyrus, I think, because Papyrus is just so unapologetically himself, while Star... he starts spending more and more time with this mask of greatness he made himself. Because people like North Star. Not Starlo.
North Star is a real sheriff. Not Starlo.
North Star is the one who brings help and hope and fun to monsters. Not Starlo.
North Star is the one worthy of being appreciated. Not Starlo.
And like... he wants to be liked so badly. So much effort is put into making sure North Star is good enough that Starlo tends to assume people hate him. He assumes his parents hate his life choices (they don't; they're proud of him and know he cares), he assumes Clover will laugh at him when he shows his face to them (they don't; despite everything, it's still him), he assumes the reason he fell out with his friends is because he wasn't a good enough sheriff (he knows damn well it wasn't actually Clover's fault, he's not THAT stupid. But he's still desperately grasping at the last pieces of his shattered persona, so if he just works harder, if he does what a real sheriff does and captures this human, then everything will be alright, won't it?)
I really wish we could have gotten more insight on Starlo's relationships and personality before the whole Wild East thing consumed him. Ceroba and the Feisty Five say they miss the old Starlo, but we never really get to know who the old Starlo was. And I don't think he knows either.
Wake the hell up, Star. People started liking you before you were North Star. Go eat some corn and calm down.
Point is, the impostor syndrome goes hard and that's such a mood. He was supposed to be the cool and silly cowboy guy, what the fuck–
#at first I thought Star was like my polar opposite#because he's clearly an extrovert and I'm so introverted I might as well live under a rock#but after staring at him for long enough i think it's more like...#two sides of the same coin#running away from yourself eh? wishing you were enough eh?#he's such a wet cat#I'm insane about this game don't mind me#rabid and feral#they need therapy your honour#of course this is just my interpretation of it though#i'm not projecting you're projecting#Undertale Yellow#UTY#Starlo uty#North Star#welcome to my TEV Talk

Do you guys ever think about how hollow and isolating certain things about Hope’s life must feel? When she was a little girl she was promised to be protected by her dad and treated like a princess and she had this image in her head of growing up and being a powerful witch and doing all of these things. And then she gets older, her parents + family members die/split off, ‘always and forever’ is dead in a way, most of the supernatural community either thought or still thinks she’s a danger to them, and then by Legacies we know that she also is faced with having to become immortal in order to stop something that’s going to kill what few friends she does have. She doesn’t want to be immortal. She’s been kind of an introvert and a loner and for all intents and purposes, her existence has been a huge disappointment. She doesn’t see being a vampire as some cool thing, she sees it as something that will at worst, make her more isolated because everyone thinks she’s a monster like her dad. And then that’s before you dig into what the trauma of Greta and Roman did to her. She was told that who she is is wrong and is going to hurt people. She’s been trying not to live up to all these horrible expectations everyone has of her because one of the things her family (propogated by Elijah and even Klaus when he tried to keep her from falling asleep to the Hollow) seemed to believe is that her existence would somehow fix everything and she would miraculously be a good person. So not only is becoming a vampire scary because she doesn’t want to become the worst version of herself and prove everyone right (therefore also reliving all of this trauma she has from other peoples’ expectations of her) but she also has to be alive forever in this sort of lonely state. She doesn’t have ‘normal’ things to look forward to that normal kids do. She’s been told her entire existence will suck for her and everyone else, actually. We even have the firstborn Mikaelson witch thing that posits she will suffer from the strength and uncontrollable quality of her magic. Idk… it’s just crazy how miserable and depressed she must be sometimes
#I actually just think about how lonely her existence must be#Not just as the only one of her kind but#Put in the role she was#As young as a child#And then she can’t ever live up to it#And she knows she’ll let people down eventually#Especially because she HAS to be a vampire#And Hope isn’t someone who’s extroverted with like a zest for life lol.#So a lot of life’s more fun parts are probably not enough to combat her broody nature atp#I don’t think she particularly makes a ‘good’ vampire#I think she would be angsty and broody and sad and have anger issues#study:hope#hope mikaelson#legacies#tvdu#texts#texts:m

(part 1)
part 2 of Joseph Woll at NHLPA's mental health first aid program First Line
I'd say my journey throughout my pro career I've spent a lot of time figuring my own way of being out and I think that's been very important for me.
And you forget that you're a part of something bigger and in a weird way, I do think that the more focus you have on other people the better you end up feeling. Just in the same way like the more love you show to somebody the more love you end up feeling.
It's about inspiring action, I think that's the real drive of it. But I think that, you know, being able to navigate that better is really important.
more on the program

reverse verse where soap takes on the mask instead of ghost. he wears his red skull mask so you can see the lower half of his face and his chin scar extends along his whole jaw to look like exposed teeth
#his chin scar is so gnarly and i think we gloss over it just a little too much#i like reverse verses but i think they can change just a little too much#like i wouldnt have soap act like ghost#if anything id have him act the same just more unhinged#hes still extroverted and will talk to people but people find him very unnerving#theres just this edge to everything he says and does that lets you know just bc hes being civil doesnt mean he wont rip your throat out#with his teeth#and hes just brutal in the field#preferring hand to hand wanting to get up close and bloody#very berkeresque where other soldiers learn not to go near him or interrupt him bc he cant always differentiate friend from foe#except for one deadpan brit who had a soldier’s eyes long before he ever joined the military#dour and depressing until he cracks a messed up joke and everyones shovked when they hear a scottish voice laugh#just soap who goes through roba and simon whos still ghost after living through his fathers abuse#just slightly less self isolating since he still has his family#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#soapghost#ghostsoap#ghoap#john soap mactavish#soap cod#simon ghost riley#ghost cod#we’re a team. ghost team

🔥Hot take: Anna is the true heroine of Frozen and was done dirty by the creators and is still mistreated by the fanbase too. She deserved more screentime and to be her own person instead of always running after Elsa, she also should have been the 5th element (ice makes no sense!!). Elsa is more selfish/self-centered and co-dependant of the two
Strongly agree | Agree | Neutral | Disagree | Strongly disagree
So I agree in part with this, but I also disagree significantly so it makes sense to split my answer down the middle. I agree that Anna is significantly underrated and underutilized by both the fandom and the creators. I would also agree that Anna is more of the actual protagonist than Elsa, though I'm not sure I would go so far as say one of them is a "true" heroine while the other isn't. (Elsa was narratively an antihero/antivillain in the first movie but her intentions were heroic (if misguided) enough that I don't feel comfortable saying only Anna is "truly" a heroic character).
I also agree that "Elsa (ice) as the fifth element" was monumentally stupid, and it would've been more interesting if Anna had turned out to have powers of her own. (Though not necessarily in the "elements" plot as is). But then again, I think pretty much everything about Frozen 2 is monumentally stupid (though not irredeemably stupid in the way Toy Story 4 is. Frozen 3, you can fix this mess. I believe in you!)
The thing that drives me absolutely off the wall is that the thesis that orients Frozen 2 is the antithesis of that of Frozen 1. (Frozen 1 is oriented around Elsa and Anna learning that they can rely on each other and not be afraid to be part of each other's lives. They don't have to be alone and in fact, can never be alone because they have each other. Frozen 2 is like... "um actually... Elsa is just 'too different' to stay in Anna's life permanently, even if that's what they both want. It's more important for her to be special and magical in isolation. She doesn't have a choice; it's her destiny even though Elsa feeling different and alone for so long is what has historically caused pretty much every problem for both her and Anna in the past. Support systems are for wusses; real peeps embrace rugged individualism." Thanks I hate it.)
Where I disagree with you is that I think you are being a bit unfair in your characterization of Elsa. (Although I will admit to being far more of an Elsa fan than an Anna one...but I do love both, I promise). Elsa is a character that I would describe as being "selfless to the point of selfishness." She has been conditioned into believing that her emotions--and by extension, herself--is always the problem. It's her fault; it's her responsibility. She's trained to see herself as the "most important" but only in the sense that she's the most "dangerous to herself and others."
And while she categorically does not want that, she inevitably ends up centering herself in everything so that she can protect everyone around her. She's probably aware that keeping away from Anna during their childhood hurt them both, but she's been raised to believe that Anna's safety is THE most important thing and therefore, she'll have to do whatever she has to do to maintain it.
I think it's important to remember that Anna's initial accident happened, while she and Elsa were playing and were happy. It's not just anger or sorrow or fear that impacts her powers. It's any and every strong emotion. Elsa believes that the only way to avoid hurting anyone is to keep her emotions as small, concealed and mild as possible. Is it unfair that Anna did not get a say in any of this? Absolutely. She is the one who should've gotten to decide whether staying close to Elsa was "worth the risk." But again, that is the parents' fault just as much as it is Elsa's.
Send me your fandom hot take and I will say what I think about it!
#disney#frozen#elsa of arendelle#anna of arendelle#frozen 2#anti frozen 2#as you may be able to tell; i project onto elsa A LOT and so that impacts my view of both her and frozen 2 as a whole#f*ck frozen 2; all my homies hate frozen 2#tfw when the walt disney company spends an entire movie telling us a mentally-ill and/or neurodivergent-coded and/or queer-coded character#is just 'too different' to ever be accepted amongst the 'normal' people she loves and she needs to go live in the woods like a hermit#even though they'd spent an entire previous movie telling us the exact opposite#also something something; introverts are inherently 'bad leaders' and therefore they need to step aside and let extroverts take over#as though it wasn't perfectly possible for elsa and anna to rule as team and utilize the unique skills they both have#also i'm too white to have much authority to speak on the northuldra plot but i get the impression that wasn't handled well either

Cat pair owners, do your 2 cats fall into the pattern of one being a really clever active hunter who constantly wants to explore and is really extroverted with new people, and the other being quieter but an absolute baby lap cat cuddle bug when they trust you? I feel like every cat pair I've had or met has been like this.
Also it's not that they lack one of the traits of the other type just that they tend to prefer the other. Like a quiet baby will still go wild for a toy but they ask more for cuddles than they instigate play. And an adventurous cat will still curl up for a cuddle but most of the time they want to play and explore
#cats#cat pairs#polls#cat dynamics#kittens#kitten pairs#pets#cat#for the record the two i had as a young kid Thomas was quiet and Tabatha was extroverted#then as a teen Bob is insanely extroverted and Arty is my little baby cuddle boy#now with Ada and Peep. Ada is so lively and exploratory and Peep is quieter and more cuddly#even with friends cats one of my friends has 2 and ots the exact same dynamic. minnie is friendly as hell and tiger is way quieter#ace attorney
