I just read Yue Qingyuan talk with Shen Qingqiu AND I'M SO CLOSE TO CRYING. I knew this would happen, I've been spoil to everything, I knew from second one but it still hurt !!!

Like why. I'll run with the headcanon that Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu are reincarnation just to pretend he can have this. I need them to have a happy ending in my mind.

Also I don't understand the Yue Qingyuan haters. Yes he fuck up, but come on he suffered enough. I was so excited to read the 79 extra in book 4 but now I'm scared.

Really between, the fact that Binghe's fucking mad right now and that Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi Lang are DYING on the ground, Mobei jun is my only comfort.

Really he is so funny without meaning to. Luo Binghe is so clearly not well but he still obeyed so fast and the fact that he made Zhuzhi Lang shut up by punching him ? Hysterical !! Then he just got yeeted.

Shang Qinghua I now understand why he's your favorite. All his scenes are so funny to me.

yknow how when you spend a lot of time with someone you start picking up some of their little language idiosyncrasies without even meaning too? yeah i think binghe would do this with shen qingqiu’s modernisms and references like he doesn’t know what they mean mean but he’s just picked up from context (because he’s a very smart boy) — neither binghe or sqq realize that that is what’s happening bc it just sounds natural to them, and it’s not until shang qinghua is over for tea (and tea) and he realises that binghe knows lots of words that he Should Not Know and that he’s actually keeping up with cumplane’s otaku talk and he’s just like “you shouldn’t know this why do you know this” and binghe just tilts his head at him bc what is this shishu on about now? it’s such a shock to sqq too tho because he didn’t even realise how comfortable he was with binghe like to the point that he was regularly forgetting to speak like a xianxia immortal master and he just like. hides his blush behind his fan. and refuses to comment

Shen Qingqiu is Binghe’s Shizun, Binghe’s husband and sometimes he feel like he is also Binghe’s mother. Because you know how people would go to a child’s mother to say “do you know what your son/daughter did?” and proceed to tell said mother all child’s misdoings?

Yeah, that happens to him lot.

Every time Binghe causes some havoc, the suffered party or any witness (especially if they are a cultivator) seem to feel obliged to come to him with complaints. And Shen Qingqiu has to listen to every "do you know what your Luo Binghe did?".

What do they even think, coming to him with all those comments? (Probably that he is the only person capable of reasoning with Luo Binghe, which is not wrong). But still, why?

So every time Shen Qingqiu would assure them, that of course he will not ignore this matter (sure thing he will) and that Binghe will get what he deserves (care and praise, obviously).

Because why do these people even think, that he, Binghe’s husband, will try to "reason with him" or something? Obviously he is an accomplice.

I think why I find myself not really enjoying Bingliushen, even though the concept could be interesting, is how often art and fics really focus on Liu Qingge. I get it, people loving Liu Qingge is a big reason Bingliushen is a ship, but it can feel ooc and honestly miss a lot of comedic opportunities.

In my mind, Liu Qingge and Luo Binghe would be like a first wife and a second wife to each other, with Shen Qingqiu, the husband (even though Shen Qingqiu wouldn't ever number them lol). They would begrudgingly agree to it because, in this scenario, they both love Shen Qingqiu, and Shen Qingqiu has feelings for them both. Luo Binghe would go full scheming concubine but only in the most inane and harmless ways because he if fully tried to do permanent bodily harm to Liu Qingge, Shizun would be mad. Liu Qingge would stumble his way through each encounter, possibly being dense enough not to even realize/be bothered by Luo Binghe's meticulous plans.

Shen Qingqiu is just happy they're getting along so well!

At some point, they may begin to like each other or something.

This is one world where the Joker dies. The Joker sees LBH walking around and thinks it a good idea to kidnap and/ or murder Bruce Wayne’s husband as a joke. LBH, remembering all SQQ’s rants about how he fucking HATES the Joker and wants to kill him so bad, but can’t because he’s not allowed to, goes 😈😈😈. LBH is sure that his husband will appreciate getting the Joker’s head in a box as a present. Jason can have the rest of the corpse.

Ahhhh your read my mind! Batman is contractually obliged (read: forbidden by the system on pain of punishment protocol and/or a true death) not to kill, but that doesn't stop the ancient demon Empress scholar warrior from having Opinions™ on who should frankly kick the bucket. Another idea though: lbh wouldn't wait for the joker to kidnap him. He sees Bruce's tight expression when talking (infodumping) about Gotham, he sees the way the children glance at Jason whenever they hear his name, he sees how his husband scowls helplessly whenever the topic of future breakouts comes up.

"Shizun..." Usually, at the first sign of being wanted back luo Binghe would be dropping everything and running. Not tonight. He's finally found what he's seeking. "Forgive this tardy husband, but I will be a little longer. There is something I've been looking for."

"Looking for?" shen qingqiu echoes, and he waits while his clever husband's mind works. If shizun truly wanted him to stop and leave well enough alone, he'd tell him, but luo Binghe thinks that this time that won't be the case. "Looking for what, Binghe?"

"I found something peculiar the other day, and given how much shizun cares about his city, this one thought it would be best to ensure it wasn't dirtying up the streets. It's making quite the joke of itself."

He heard the sharp inhale on the other side. He waited. Then, softly;

"Ah," shen qingqiu breathed. "Well then, dear husband, be sure you don't get lost wandering the city. It's quite dangerous. In fact, I feel it might be better if I sent Jason along with you. Just to make sure you're safe. He's been positively desperate to get out."

Of course, their second eldest. The one the joker had brutally killed. The one whose death still gave his too kind husband nightmares.

SV fic where Shen Yuan rationally decides to be gay. For rational, strategic reasons. He has to do it.

Reason 1: every woman in the world has pretty much been reserved for the protagonist. trying to get with anyone would seal his fate as a rival, on top of a villain! he's basically either got to spend the rest of his life a bachelor or find another option.

Reason 2: obviously as a straight man Shen Yuan would prefer the bachelor option, but that's just leaving him wide open to attacks! Shen Qingqiu already did a poor job of cementing any alliances, having no family to speak of and pissing off the majority of his sect siblings. frankly he's left Shen Yuan in a bind that only some kind of concrete financial and social alliance could solve!

Reason 3: no man wants to die a virgin, right?

Reason 4: increasingly progressive standards in fiction have actually made it gauche to kill off openly gay characters. while a stallion novel might still go in that direction, it's not like he could make his fate much worse, so it's worth a shot, right?

anyway this all leads to Shen Yuan carefully reconstructing the image of Shen Qingqiu into the token complicated gay character. obviously he's not going to put the moves on any of his disciples (he doesn't want to fall into those gay stereotypes!), but to cement the image of himself as a gay man he's going to need to put the moves on someone.

it's a shame that the OG was so well-established in his enmity towards the sect leader. Yue Qingyuan seems like he might have at least entertained such interest, although he's also more of a brotherly type and probably not gay, so perhaps it's for the best in the long run.

luckily, another option falls right into Shen Qingqiu's lap (almost literally!) when he saves Liu Qingge from a qi deviation.

Liu Qingge is actually the perfect target for an unrequited crush. it recontextualizes some of his and the original's enmity, Liu Qingge was dead in the original story so it's not likely to mess up anything worse than him just being alive does, Liu Qingge is beautiful enough that it's believable anyone would be secretly in love with him, and a war god is almost certainly straight, which gives Shen Qingqiu time to adjust to the idea of living as a gay man for the rest of his (hopefully long) life. y'know, before he finds an actual gay to partner with!

the only downside is that coming on to Liu Qingge might discourage him from protecting Shen Qingqiu and repaying his debt in the long run. luckily, that doesn't seem to be the case! despite his face frequently turning red (from anger?) and him sometimes literally fleeing at Shen Qingqiu's awkward attempts at flirting, Liu Qingge never misses an appointment to cleanse his meridians, and seems to take his safety and well-being very seriously.

what an honorable man!

shame that Luo Binghe doesn't seem to like him, though. Shen Qingqiu's not sure what to make of all that. that's your future brother-in-law, Binghe! at least make an attempt to win him over! oh well. at least he's not ruining a relationship between in-laws that otherwise could have been good, as he makes extra sure to subtly bemoan, in front of Luo Binghe, the tragedy of his deep unrequited love for Liu Qingge. for like the third time that week.

on a completely separate note; shizun luo binghe with a disciple shen yuan who fell into the abyss??? *thinks about LBH canonically stealing SQQ's corpse for 5 years* he'd hallucinate i think. like, like visual and audial hallucinations.

Keeps thinking he's seeing SQQ in the corner of his eyes, or wandering between the trees, amongst a group of disciples. Thinks he hears him calling for him, but its just the wind or another disciple.

Gets Xiu Ya reforged but patently fucking refuses to make a sword mound. Because his disciple Is Not Dead :))) There was No Body. He's Not Dead. And If You keep Insisting That He Is, He's Gonna Skewer You :). He's holding onto Xiu Ya so he can return his most favored disciple's sword when he returns. It's on his hip right next to Zheng Yang where it's supposed to be.

Also this motherfucker?? does not sleep btw. He has the image of SQQ, wide eyed and hysterical and standing at the mouth of the abyss burned into his fucking eyelids. Can't use the dreamscape to escape it either because he keeps trying to save him and either he does and it's an incredibly cruel trick to wake up to, or he doesn't and he gets his heart broken in several different pieces again.

There is no convincing this man that Shen Qingqiu is dead. Absolutely nothing at all. He is buried so deep in denial that moles would be jealous of how deep he is. He keeps making tea for two in the bamboo house only to remember that it's just him. SQQ's fans are hiding everywhere, little reminders of his presence. He goes to wake up SQQ on the mornings he sleeps in-- only to find the room empty.
