i get that the barbie movie didn’t show a lot of gender nonconformity or diversity with its characters outside of weird barbie and allan but the emphasis on barbies and kens not having gendered sex organs means that all of these very traditionally presenting men and women still don’t meet the terf criteria to be a man or woman because it’s an oversimplistic and reductionary way to define gender
#barbie#barbie movie#barbenheimer#weird barbie#allan#anti-terf#barbie is woman because that's how she chooses to socially present herself#not because she's a woman biologically#because technically she isn't!#the barbie movie really said you can be whatever you want to be#it handles a lot of topics well but one movie can also only be about so many things

edit: turning off reblogs because some of the people that are reblogging are extremely fucking moronic. holy shit
#anti jk rowling#anti harry potter#1) she's not being removed because 'she spoke up about biological sex' she actively influences anti-trans policies#2) it's not misogynistic to remove her. the fact that she's a woman doesn't have ANYTHING to do with her removal#3) the people reblogging this in approval don't 'cry when an artist isn't credited' this isn't the same fucking thing.#this is as the article says (if you know how to read 🤭) the quickest solution to reduce her impact#this bitch doesn't just hurt trans people. it's clear in her books that she's a white supremacist and she's also antisemitic#and she said dumbledore is gay for clout. it's fucking obvious. stop defending this woman and get a life-#-or get involved on the side of trans people#or just generally drop the fucking series you read as a middle schooler. nostalgia isn't more important than the lives of trans/jewish ppl

Maybe it's just me and I just don't understand the arc. Or maybe this arc will get some grand conclusion I'm really starting to doubt. But like I'm sick and tired of Tashigi being used as Zoro's misogyny proxy. Like the "a woman swordsman could never beat a man" belief and trauma made sense for both Kuina and Tashigi and was a very valid fear way back in the East Blue when they were still fighting relatively normal people and had no scope of how big the world is
but at this point where there are literally 20 feet tall dudes and people can blow up a whole city with just Haki the only reason Tashigi is still weak is because she is being written that way. Which is really hard to understand because it seems now more than ever One Piece has been getting more and more strong female characters so I don't know why every time Tashigi is on screen with Zoro we have to rehash this. It's even worse cause all she does in the scene is prove Zoro right by getting in a fight that she can't handle and needing saving. It's such a confusing message and honestly doesn't really apply or come up anywhere but with Tashigi and Zoro (outside of that one time where Zoro yells at enel for blasting Robin because she's a woman which was weird because Robin's been in a lot of fights before but seemed there just so enel could point out just how ruthless it is.)
Hell with the exception of the G5 all being in love with her. She is treated like a regular character and not just "the woman"
It honestly feels like both Tashigi and Smoker got lost in the narrative and Oda just doesn't know where to put their arcs. It feels like she was being written to help Zoro overcome whatever mental block Kuina's death instilled in him about facing female opponents with his sword. But she is just sooooo far behind him it renders the point moot and strengthens his convictions (it's weird that he will literally crush a woman's face rather than use his sword and is the only reason I won't say he doesn't fight women he does he just seems to have a mental block about cutting them down especially if they fight with anything blade like) but also we've only ever seen him face female character he knows can't challenge him it would have been interesting to see what he'd do in a fight against someone like big mom, tsuru or smoothie doubt that will happen though. But here's to hoping for Tashigi to have an actual arc.
#I'm just tired of this woman in fantasy situations still needing to be physically weaker than men#not to actually explore misogny but just because#like one dude tried to argue that Maki is inherently weaker than toji because she's a woman#like what? we are talking about a world where a dude literally has infinity at his disposable biology doesn't matter#stop infecting it with your misogny#or maybe she has this huge final role Oda is the god of bringing back random characters and leveling them up after all#like we are talking about a world where there's a dude literally made of fire I do not want to hear about the biological reality#this isn't reality#youre female characters arent strong because they aren't written to be strong and that's a you problem#I like tashigi 95% of the time she's a great character. But can women just be “weak” without it being because they are women?#can we just do that#been having so much fun in the mishanks/cross guild section of the fandom#I genuinely forgot how much the portrayal of women in one piece irritated me and was a big reason I stopped keeping up in the first place#here's my rant I guess#op#one piece#ranting#mini rant#roronoa zoro#tashigi#feminism#one piece women#I do like that it's a least alot better now with inclusion of more female characters#I do acknowledge that most of this manga was written in the early 2000s but come on Punk Hazard was literally not that long ago#one piece thoughts#women

saw your most recent post about really good fics that contain uncomfortable kinks and i immediately thought "ah, biscia must be reading the mpreg soriel fic" and almost left a reply talking about it but i stopped myself because i realized that would be an insane assumption to make. needless to say i felt so vindicated when i saw you link it in an earlier post.
like. HELLO?
HELLO???????
#answered asks#''I fear nothing good ever comes of it when it does'' is straight up SEARED into my brain as the toriel line of all time I've ever read#there's some character interpretations I don't share there. like i said i don't think either of them would cry that easily#and while the different conception (badumtss) of sex/gender in various monsters was interesting#i felt like it didn't quite deal with the ramifications of not strictly binary reproductions on social perception of gender like I could've#eg the part about boss monsters being closer to humans in how it works and thus having a different concept of mom/dad compared to skeletons#was pretty nice. but if you establish that skeletons work like ghosts but distinguish she/he ''for some reason'' even though all of them#can bear kids. and then you make a comment about ''the child possibly growing into a woman considering the shape of the pelvis'' it's like#why??????? why. whywhywhy. why would that be a factor. even hypothesizing a certain physical dimorphism. WHY pick the one tied to pregnancy#the ONE ASPECT that you decided was shared between both ''male'' and ''female'' skeletons#it's also like. objectively an argument that is leveraged to hurt and deny trans people irl so it was just. unbelievably uncomfortable#this is what we mean with mpreg and transphobia btw#not that the concept is inherently transphobic or hurtful to trans people#but that that kind of alternative biological worldbuilding implies an alternative social conception of gender role for the characters#that a lot of authors just. straight up miss. because their view of the world is still very cis/perisexist#BUT!!!!!!!!!!#it was still over all a very good fic. I'd rec it to pll not into that for the initial 2 chapters alone

When a TIM is so shitty even his TIM call him out
When an actual lesbian has preferences for real women it's transphobic but when a TIM does it's because sex is a biological reality. So glad the women are calling him out.
#Reddit#Actuallesbiansover25#TIMs know the difference between men and women when it comes to wanting kids#He is incapable of love#He only wants an actual woman for what she could do for him#So he just wants kids because he grew up with couples who had kids?#Men want kids for the fatherhood privilege#The autism trans connection#If he's not going to medically transition or go on HRT how is he even trans?#He is just a crossdresser?#No one is entitled to biological offspring#He doesn't even want to consider adopting

Is this fanfic friendly? I feel like an outlier.
I guess this is my sign it's time to throw together a FAQ post to link to lol.
Yes, every event for this blog is fanfic friendly :D
Though as I mentioned on my Ominous October post, for events that include multiple short stories, I encourage everyone to flex their creativity and take one of their planned short story fanfics, and at least *attempt* to turn one of them into something entirely original; rebuilding a character and story from the ground up to stand on its own two legs is no easy feat, and that is what makes it so fun!
It really gets your creative gears turning, to make an "au of an existing material" to be something entirely original, and you can be pleasantly surprised about the things you come up with!
As a few people say, its not just a matter of "filing the serial numbers off" -- you have to add in just as much *or more* as what you take out when you are turning a fanfiction into something that is original and completely divorced from its original source material / inspiration, and that is a hard, but very rewarding challenge!
Obviously, this is not a requirement (there's no hard requirements for any of the challenges, other than no cheating, including no using AI),
but if you would like an extra challenge for the short story events and you're planning on doing entirely fan-fiction, I highly recommend trying it out at least once, and seeing where it leads you--
you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by what you find down that rabbit hole!
#replies#novella november#long rambly tags to follow lol#including anti royalist / anti billionaire shit#ominous october#this is what my novella november is going to be#something that WAS a huge earth-shattering fanfic AU#but before I even got past a WIP Oneshot I'd already realized that what I was planning was going to turn canon so far on its head it would#be unrecognizable and it would be much better off and more coherent if I made it entirely original#so now it is!#not only does this involve changing every single characters name#everyone is now a completely different species other than human because thats always fun#and of course we're also tackling all the issues that had annoyed me in omega verse fics since I was like 14 and liked the#creature aspects but hated the biological essentialism and misogny / caste systems#if your fantasy people have an enforced caste system you gotta actually treat that like the horror and systemic oppression it is#not just say 'biological = right' like dude what do you think people have been saying about real women this whole time????#people literally insist women are biologically inferior to men do you really think supporting that idea is going to make you sound#progressive just because your main character is a tomboy independant woman?#also like she lost all her independence as soon as she found a man to marry so uhhhhh#what happened to being ready and willing to hit the bricks if people kept talking down to you and condescending you for being a woman????#why did you go from independant badass tomboy to fainting damsel who spends all her time worrying about failing to produce an heir#so her husband can take power#instead of just straight up telling your husband#'hey I don't want to deal with the bullshit from your father how about we do the-#- socially acceptable thing and just go off to make our own independant settlement with some of the villagers who are on your side'#like your husband would literally be escstatic about this idea of finally getting out from under his dad's tyrannical thumb#and its more like way more than half the villagers would go with you not just a handful#theyve been sick of the kings shit for years and only your husband's potential rise to rule kept them in check#cus he actually cares about the villagers and goes among them#while still clearly having some biases to work through when it comes to class and gender equality

Fuck whatever terfs and transphobes are treating the term 'socialization' as if it's evidence for bioessentialism or whatever as if it isn't literally the exact opposite, fuck them for taking a useful term we should be aware of and poisoning it so now people think whoever uses it is a piece of shit.
#its a real thing and a useful term to know and it literally means#'certain behavioral traits being associated with certain sexes isnt the result of biological differences but rather#subtle ways each of us were 'trained' to conform to our agab our entire lives'#its literally saying 'see gender is just social shit and is not biological'#and also hey lets all be aware of this and deconstruct it. even cis people#cuz shit i have cis guy friends who i can tell are still reluctant to do shit for fear of being seen as feminine#even though theyre gay or whatever#and on the more extreme [but still very normal and not uncommon at all] end this shit can be seriously damaging#like the idea that 'men' need to bottle their emotions#but like. i didnt get offended when my anthro prof teaching a gender anthro class told me 'thats your female socialization telling you#to not value yourself!“#because she wasnt calling me a woman. she was reminding me of a dumb thing society taught me that i should deconstruct

had the most braindead repetitive conversation/argument with my parents. buzz cuts are too masculine but if you dye a design on it it become effeminate which is bad because then you look weak and if youre weak then society falls apart (all societies ever that have fallen apart for any reason are actually because of feminine men) and we start sacrificing babies. and also all mental illness is invented because only 4 people had anxiety in the 90s and covid was made up so that we would all become gay and trans and then the government can control us better and be joe biden's little sex slaves. and also i need to keep my hair long because my father finds it attractive. what
#lolaa.txt#what do i even tag this with . my mother wouldn't let me leave and i kept asking for sources and she kept saying 'i'm your mother!!!'#'i wouldnt lie to you!'#okay. say that to someone maybe who doesnt know you lie to them all the time.#its tiring going around in circles with her.my father is better because at least he admits when he doesnt have a reason for feeling some wa#also what got me. she said 'do you own research if you want!! but im right!!!'#yeahh not seeing anything about anything you just said. i think you made that up.#i have a theory that my mother secretly hates herself because she believes all women are weak and must serve strong men#and my father has so so much trauma and anxiety that he cant be that strong man#so now she feels like shes betraying her very biology when she has to step up.#and also because i am stronger than her now and my hair is long and far far denser than hers and i have a younger face#that she feels that im wasting my precious femininity that she could be using. does that make sense.#shes so miserable trapped in her idea of what makes a man and a woman what they are. once you stop caring about what makes someone somethin#you dont have to worry about anyone else.#im queer because i dont really feel that connection to biological and social ideas of gender that my parents seem to#never really have#im not gonna theorize 'ohh shed be happier nonbinary' or stuff like that because it is up to you and you alone to define who you are#if you spend your whole life trying to fit a box for the sake of fitting the box#then when would you have any space for self discovery#youve invented personality traits to go along with your box. now you can never ever change or grow as a person. congrats#and you know what? one day she will die. and that will be the end of that.#and i will live and i will probably shave my head a thousand times. and come up with new names#and new ways to be a better person that makes me feel happy#and i will dress like a boy because its all made up anyways. who cares.#and if you care? that much about what im wearing or how i look?#then thats your problem and i wont be responsible to maintain your happiness.#SORRY RANT OVER.#im just so flabbergasted. what a sad life someone can lead poisoned by jealously and reactive rhetoric.#tw homophobia#tw transphobes

Is Nate technically a carnivore since he has fangs?
While this would have worked for other variant species, Nathaniel doesn't abide by the rules of nature in any respect, especially as an atypical-form shifter.
His body has a predisposition towards humanoid forms, so it's safe to assume he'd have the same overall conditions that a human would- omnivorous. He's made a nutritional plan for himself that incorporates more veggies and less saturated fats. Ew! boring!
(Can you tell I love talking about Variant physiology)
#devarambles#nathanieltag#red or fatty meats don't sit well with his digestion. Lol old man old man#I say. as a vegetarian.#Nathaniel's form is so compiled and messy because he's got a bunch of junk DNA in him.#His biological mother had given him away not knowing she was the cause for his deformation#He would later find his mom and plaintively watch as she didn’t even recognize him. Didnt even think of him. She fed him to the wolves.#Then she moved on. He even took on a form that would most resemble himself as a human.#His father divorced and remarried a human woman. Family of five. Nathaniel has family! But he can never see them. He can never hold them.#And they will never know what became of him after that. Thankfully he has a family now. It's small. And disjointed. But It's his now.#This is also partly why Nathaniel has always wanted to be a father. Sera would rather fry and eat her wings than be a mother. Whew. How did Lexa react when she found out about Clarke's dick
Okay okay so about this I have thoughts!
Because of the way June has such a view about men being inherently violent and given her trauma, Lexa was taught that their violent ways, especially their sexual violent ways, came from their dick.
Now, being a lesbian like her grandmother Lexa, both never thought she'd sleep with someone with a dick unless there was violence involved. She was sheltered and fed narratives from a deeply traumatized woman, and as much as she sometimes down right hates her grandmother, she knew there was some truth to her view from the life experiences of the women around her and her own father.
So I think Lexa is at first shocked, like a bucket of cold water was thrown on her. Almost like a fear of what being with a woman who she loves has a dick could mean for her - as if Clarke was to end up hurting her for the simple fact of her having a dick.
It's clear from her reaction to Clarke that Lexa might not want to do this with her anymore, and while the reason /why/ is clear, Clarke does try not to act like it affects her.
Their first time would be desperate and slow as well. When Clarke starts getting dressed and telling Lexa it's fine if she is having second thoughts, Lexa feels panicked at the thought of ruining things with Clarke. Not sex, but the idea that now that her and this amazing woman are finally developing their relationship, she is about to ruin it for a trauma that isn't even hers to carry.
Lexa pulls Clarke back to bed and kisses her, apologizing to her about her reaction. Maybe Clarke would have had a different attitude towards Lexa after her reaction if Lexa didn't look so damn honest and vulnerable and so in love with her. Because when Lexa apologizes she never once looks down, instead staring right into Clarke's eyes.
It is different from what Lexa was accustomed with Costia, but Clarke is gentle with her, reminsing her she does not have to do anything she doesn't want to, but Lexa has this burning need to be as close as possible to Clarke. And that kind of surpasses all the things she was told over and over again by her grandmother because even with their relationship just starting Lexa is most sure of something and that is that she loves this woman more than she ever did anyone and that she feels a safety with her she last feel in her mother's arms.
#letter opened#do i think june and the flowers are outright transphobic? no#but i dont think thornfield would be a place where a trans woman would feel fully safe tbh#and June would definitely be VERY untrusting of Clarke#but Lexa refuses to let her grandmother's trauma dictate her life#she loves Clarke too fucking much to have June try to poison her against her#even if at a distance#is thay makes sense#i have a lot of thoughts about June and how she'd handle a trans woman at thornfield#traumatized woman with a deep fear of men who all but seem to believe men are biologically made to be violent#surrounding herself with women with rhe same experiences as her#who raised her son always expecting him to show his true colors and when it did she felt like it was just confirmation of her thoughts#she couldn't even take her grandson in#thats why i love how June is portrait#because you see the way she acted with her son and you dont support her#even knowing how he turns out#she was a woman traumatized by men who surrounded herself with women traumatized by men#who has such a hatred towards men#im rambling

it’s really weird being trans and going to the doctor when you don’t plan on transitioning medically
#marzi speaks#i have no interest in t or top surgery atm so for convenience my doctors know me as a woman#which like. that isn’t. incorrect. but it’s not all of me#idk. i’m someone who typically just despises being closeted#i’m privileged to be able to not be closeted in my daily life but like. i just hate hiding myself yanno#but if i mark myself down as ‘other’ on those forms then everything just gets so much more complicated#plus even if i say i’m comfortable with all pronouns i’ll likely still just be she/her-ed. maybe she/they-ed if i’m lucky#so like. there’s no point in complicating things for myself like that#but it’s weird. i’m not staying closeted because i’m afraid of my doctors not caring for me#(although i do worry about systematic biases)#but instead because it’s just. easier. and doesn’t that kind of suck#being fully myself in a medical setting is inconvenient. it gets in the way#because the medical system isn’t built to accomodate me. so i fold away those parts of me to make it easier#idk. it’s kinda fucked but it mostly just makes me feel weird. i feel like i’m lying when i tell them i’m female but it’s my easiest option#plus i’d hate to be asked if i’ve transitioned medically at all and have ‘biologically female’ written on my chart when i say no#i’d rather just see an F on the gender marker than be told my body is that of a woman’s

Some people are confused about my gender so for your convenience - it's none pronouns left she
#I am biologically female but my language has no gendered pronouns so the pronoun 'she' means absolutely nothing to me#Neither does he#I am non-binary you can call me a man a woman or a potato#The only reason I use she is because I'm used to it and I don't care enough about gender to wage war against society and insist I'm a they#chatterbox

how do terfs grapple with the fact that they're white supremacist losers who think that women are weak essentially like adult babies but that they also bear the apparent brunt of all human pain... liiike ok which narrative are we going with
#you can't have it both ways and i thought the whole point of a 'women empowerment movement' (they aren't that. don't worry. ik)#was that women were strong and capable of doing anything... but then they complain about women losing sports#like first of all why is SPORTS of all things the crux of your entire argument on gender theory#and second of all sports are not cooshy soft shit anyways... they've always been incredibly violent (varies depending on the sport ofc)#like especially if you're going to the olympics for boxing i do not know why you'd expect not to get hit hard LMAO??? it's not like she died#it's this narrative of women's fragility that really only comes into play with white women bc let's be real here... terfs are mainly white#and also is so funny to put into a sports argument because not only are you making women look bad by essentially saying they#aren't good at whatever sport they're playing and therefore need to have a strict sex-based caste system in place so they can win#and also never get any injuries??? in sports??? which are highly competitive and where most injuries happen???#but also you're saying that physical strength is directly proportional to gender which is also very much not true. if that dumb bitch#was up against a different woman who was like a bodybuilder or weight lifter she still would have lost because she fucking sucks#meanwhile so many men have fucking noodle arms. it's just ridiculous to push this narrative like someone being biologically male doesn't#make them better at sports or stronger just like being biologically female doesn't make you worse at spoets or weaker#people are sooooo fucking different more than you could even imagine with your little peabrain#but you wanna be racist and evil so bad because you don't like cock and balls on women#this is just embarrassing at this point like some people aren't born completely one way or the other and some have hormone imbalances.#doesn't make them any less of whatever they are.#i don't understand why fucking genitalia gets people so tripped up but of course of society is so sex-based how can it not i guess lmao#imagine getting so scared that someone w/ a penis is going to rape you on a constant basis that you basically say we need to be eugenicists#you realize you can hold men who rape people accountable AND be a decent human being... right? it's actually very easy

yeah cause on one hand Shiv being a mother would kill her and staying with Tom is a very bad idea but on another hand it is what people do, they stay in bad marriages and raise their kids awfully and it wouldn’t be unrealistic for them to fall into that trap and on this other hand i found on the cruise ship if Shiv had an abortion then maybe she and Tom could reconcile but on Logan’s dead cold paw they should never ever be near each other again and also maybe Shiv should have that baby on her own because does she not want to be a mother or is she just afraid that she is her mother and anyway uh love is real but also it is not enough
#I’m so compelled by Shiv and motherhood#it wasn’t like an active choice to not be a mother imo#like I love women who see babies and are like ‘oh god. no way not for me.’#but idk if Shiv doesn’t want to be a mum or just believes she’d fuck it up so bad#like does she not like children or does she just not want people being reminded that she’s a woman#is she being asked to give up something she wants because it would remind people of what she is biologically of her unforgivable weakness#shiv do you not want a baby or do you just not want a baby as much as you want to keep your dignity#like oof. I love women not wanting to be mothers. but there’s something so dark and sad#about the narrative of a woman who wants to be a mother but not be seen as a woman. would shiv have taken the option of being a father#if that was a possibility#anyway AHHHHHHHHHHHHH#succession#shiv roy#tom wambsgans#tomshiv

Mother stop calling me your “biological daughter” challenge and using that to explain why you’re so upset at trans women competing in sports (impossible)
#I have watched videos and read essays on white feminism and Jesus fucking Christ my mom was hitting like every fragile point#it’s so UNFAIR when trans women compete in sports :((#as the mother to a BiOloGiCal DaUgHTEr#like shut the fuck up#I’m just like … I don’t actually care if trans women compete tbh#and her just going like ‘well I don’t think it should be used against Those women in that particular case’#when I argue that is disproportionately affects black womeb#or her obviously not believing me when I say that trans women face harder difficulties than she probably does#like it does not matter that you don’t think the rules should be used in that way#they WILL be used in a way that is detrimental to women and they have more so than your hypotheticals#I swear to god it’s the same argument for abortion#‘well I do think a woman should have an abortion if carrying pregnancy could be harmful to her but not other women’#if it’s illegal it WILL be used against that woman#how can you not see that#like the law will be used in a way that’s demeaning to women#but because it’s not the women you care about it doesn’t matter#also side note#and completely unrelated#can she stop implying that I’m less beautiful or don’t want to be beautiful because I’m transmasc#that would be great
