Sirius: Do you want to go out on a date with him? You got my blessing!

James: Sirius!

Regulus: Sure. Is Sunday okay?

Sirius: Sunday’s perfect. He can’t wait

Regulus: On the date, I will be able to talk to him directly, right?

Sirius: Yeah

Regulus: All right, see you Sunday, Potter *leaves*

James: Okay. What the hell was that? You know what? Don’t answer me

James, giggling: I have a date with Reggie!

june 2: night - 457 words - @jegulus-microfic

James couldn’t be happier. The three of them, him, Harry and Regulus, are sitting on the couch, watching WALL-E. He had been anxious to introduce Regulus and Harry to each other, but all seemed to go well. Harry insisted on sitting in the middle. He’s currently leaning his head against James’ arm, already half asleep.

As the end credits begin to roll James gently shakes him awake, “Say good night to Reg, Haz. It’s time for you to go to bed.”

“No!” Harry protests.

"No? Why not you already stayed up past your bedtime, remember our deal? You were almost sleeping just now.”

“Reg has to.”

“Really? You want Reg to bring you to bed?” James asks his son who nods furiously. He looks over at Regulus, gauging how he feels about this. Harry’s already in his pajamas, as part of their deal to stay up late, he only needs to brush his teeth, be tucked in and read to him before he goes to sleep. 

“It’s fine.” He stands up and holds his hand out for Harry to take. “Let’s go, bud.”

Harry hugs him, wishes him goodnight and hops off the couch to take Regulus’ hand.

He stays quietly sitting on the couch listening to the sounds upstairs. He hears the tap run; that’s Harry brushing his teeth. He listens to their steps walking from the bathroom to Harry’s room. He hears the ruffling of Harry’s blankets as he gets cozy.

After ten minutes of listening he goes upstairs to check on them.

“One more story, then. A short one, okay?” He overheard Regulus talk softly. When he reached the door he could see Harry, barely awake, snuggling with his stuffed lion wrapped in his blanket and Regulus sitting on the floor in front of him with three books for Harry to choose from.

A smile spreads over his face at the sight in front of him. He knew Reg must be great with kids, he has a cousin and a Goddaughter around Harry’s age that he sees frequently, but to see him interact so kindly with his own kid opens a new level of fondness in his heart for him.

It takes two pages before Harry is asleep. Regulus silently puts the books back on the nightstand and stands up. He silently pads across the room towards James, meeting him in a hug.

“What are you looking at, hm?” he whispers when he reaches James. He takes one more look at Harry’s sleeping form before he closes the door.

“Just my two favourite people in the world.” 

“You’re silly,” Regulus accuses him, “Harry thinks so too.” James hums, slowly nodding his head.

“Oh, Harry thinks so too,” he says seriously, “must be true, then.”

I genuinely didn't mind fanon Marauders and even fanon Slytherins, there are still some authors who write good fics and I am still there for good AUs. I am also aware that fanon personalities overshadowing and erasing canon to some extent is inevitable in fandoms. That being said, what the actual shit.

Every post I encounter goes like this: "Headcanon that Regulus can't cross a street or even walk into a straight line at all and if you tell him to, he starts hyperventilating, so James has to carry him in his big strong bulky arms and coo at him 24/7. James puts him in a baby stroller for twins: He puts Regulus in one seat and a child Lily popped out for them and then abandoned in another. But Regulus also starts hyperventilating when he sees the baby so James blindfolds him. Remus walks next to them and decapitates anyone who doesn't compliment Sirius' manicure."

Don't come at me, people can enjoy whatever ship in whatever form they want. I do not want a bitchy passive aggressive contest in comments and reblogs. It's just...I'm tired of losing braincells whenever I accidently read a post that turns out to be like this. I blocked the tag, it didn't help.

"What are you doing?" James drawled on as he, much to Regulus' shock, hooked his head on Regulus' shoulder and peered over him towards the laptop that lay on his lap. "Reg?" He continued after several seconds of silence.

"Hm?" He responded eventually, his focus on his writing long gone.

"What are you doing?" James repeated, slower this time, as he rested more weight onto Regulus' shoulder. He wasn't sure if James was aware of what he was doing to Regulus right now, he could actually lack the intelligence to acknowledge how crazy he was making Regulus, or he could be teasing him. Or-

Really, there were a lot of 'what if's' on that situation, he best not overthink it. What if he knows, and he's doing it purposely, to make fun of Regulus? 

Fuck.

He wouldn't do that, would he?

Well, two can play at that game, if James is going to be a tease - Regulus will make it even harder on him. "Why'd you ask, Potter?" He turned his head to the side, now face on with the other boy- who's pupils dilated, his cheeks growing dark and his words came out certainly less smooth than before.

"Was curious?" He paused, both of them sat disturbingly still while they stared at each other, waiting to see who broke first. Regulus doesn't even know what they're doing right now, he's pretty James doesn't know either. Regulus resisted the urge to pout when then James turned his captivating eyes away from Regulus and onto the screen.

"Are you writing?" He gasped out.

"Get off!" He attempted to snatch the laptop out of James' view.

"His-" The older boy started to read with a smirk, guffawing when Regulus elbowed him roughly in the side and snatched his laptop away. "You little shit!" Laughing, he held a hand to his chest. "Was that poetry?" Regulus started to shake his head, despite the fact that, yes, it was poetry, and you can probably guess who it was about. "You are so adorable, oh my god."

His fingers trace my feelings as I feel like I'm falling further translucent under his gaze.

His eyes examine mine like two orbs holding the world and myself in them, building more and more into the fields of perfection that I ever longed to feel.

The sons of Zeus could never once compare, the beauty of a prince that I'd never spare. He holds the heat that burned Icarus' wings in his very own palms, the same palms that could touch from my limbs to my lips to my once hurting heart.

it's a oneshot for my dearest iva as a christmas present. i wrote this vet reg microfic a while back and it's in the same universe just now as a couple. my poor baby reg is very sad about not being able to spend christmas with everyone because he will be on call but james will plan something very very special to make sure reg has the christmas he deserves

I was looking at my statistics on Ao3 (never a good idea) and I'm just. So fucking baffled that the jegulus I haven't updated since 2019 is my most popular fic out of all my fics. Like I've written for a ton of fandoms, yet the jegulus with 8 chapters has the highest stats out of EVERYTHING.

I stopped writing it because I was really, really self conscious of my writing and my headcanons, I didn't think anyone would like it because it was such a left turn from the usual jegulus takes. But I also started posting it in 2019 when there really was not a ton of content for them yet. Part of me wants to return to it, because I hate that I have an unfinished fic on my ao3, and I loved the story a lot, but idk... I'm anxious about it... and it's been so long.

What should I do, besties? Genuine question with the hopes of actual advice BTW 🥺
