What's one hobby you have that you'd recommend other people try?

Oh I have so many this is hard to answer.... I think maybe just simple hand sewing skills? Just because a lot of it is really easy once you get the hang of it, and it's incredibly useful and multi purpose. You can make new stuff or save your old favorite things! I love mending my clothes a lot (saves money in the long run and saves me the heart ache), and there's plenty of different kinds of hand sewing skills you can learn depending on what you need them for. I recently even learned scotch darning to save my favorite sweater!

(Sewing is probably my oldest hobby too? I remember being very little and denied real sewing needles so I made my own out of Christmas ornament hooks and fixed my brother's stuffies with them and made my stuffies clothes. I got my needles not long afterwards.)

I prefer visible mending for most of my things, but I practice making it unnoticeable too. I've fixed bedspreads, clothes, bags, and all sorts of things! I've also made new clothes and other trinkets out of scrap material, and decorated things too! (<- personally obsessed with patch work things lmao.)

Admittedly if you get into sewing as a major hobby a sewing machine is very helpful, but I still prefer hand sewing where I can bc I find the machine to be a little stressful. I usually use mine on bigger projects to save time, but I mainly hand sew.

Also I know you quilt so I dunno if that was the answer you were looking for lol... I don't know much about quilting but it is still sewing, and really cool to me. (Long arms look terrifying to me however.) But yeah knowing how to sew by hand is really helpful and fun! It's relaxing for me when I have the energy to focus and feels fulfilling. Even if it's not a good hobby for everyone, if it's a skill you're capable of learning, it's very useful.

I actually met an older woman who left her career to stay at home. I met her when I worked in a specialty food shop, where she'd come in to shop for little fun food snacks for her and her husband to enjoy together once he was off work. She didn't think she would end up ever not working, but she and her husband were in a phenomenally rare position to get more time together so they were going to treasure it.

What I liked the most is she acknowledged that surviving on one income is so rare, but also didn't rub it in my face that she could go buy little treats while I had to work to sell those treats.

So uhhh... good news, for those who like some parts of stay-at-home... it is possible, and probably more possible with your partner when you're both older if one partner really finds a way to progress their career. It may be rare, but you know... maybe???

But no matter what, please be nice to people you interact with, especially if you come from a place of privilege against those who won't have those kinds of chances.

He will still tell things as they are, even if it's someone he cares about. That means he isn't an enabler, he isn't going to let people walk all over him. Not only will he speak up for himself but he will speak up for YOU, or to you

One of the many wonderful things about Kyle is he's adaptable. He knows how to make the best of the situations he's in or he'll sure try. Sometimes he may fumble a bit but each time is a learning experience he always takes to heart. Everything he does is genuine and he always strives for better

If you need him to take the lead? Sure, he's your man. The Captain brings him near everywhere and keeps Gaz near him for a reason. Need him to help? He often memorizes what products you use and will restock them when he knows you're running low or if he's about to be deployed. He's just trying to give you one less thing to think and worry about while he's gone

ɣ is the voiced velar fricative, a ghhhh sound, similar to the German and French rrrrr

ð is the voiced dental fricative, essentially th as in mother, there, this and so on.

Transliterating with ph instead of f for no other reason than in order to help you see the etymology more easily, i.e the words philos (friend) and adelphos (brother) and then together they make the name of the city Philadelphia meaning brotherhood and so on. Another example is the bride which I transliterated as niphi to keep the pronunciation correct. If I had kept it more strict to the written transliteration I should have written nyphe, and then it would be easier to realise it comes from nymphe (nymph). I could have just written “nifi” but that would make etymological realisations even harder. That’s why I kept the “ph” since it sounds just like “f”.

There are no word differences for the relationships with the mother or the father's side of the family.

The words for son and daughter-in-law are essentially the words for groom and bride. So i.e a mother-in-law will say "my groom" or "my bride".

The words for boyfriend and girlfriend that are αγόρι and κορίτσι (technically meaning just boy and girl as in, he is my boy or she is my girl) have some unofficial age restriction and are less used after your 20s. After that age the other words for BF / GF become more common and even more so the words for partner, as they seem more serious and age-irrelevant.

There is also another couple of words for boyfriend / girlfriend slash lover. It's ο γκόμενος / η γκόμενα - o gómenos / i gómena. However, those are slang, street speech, often degrading or even vulgar. Some younger people use them lately for their partners cos they think it makes them cool for some reason but in truth it is cringe as fuck. I mean, I wouldn't like to be introduced like that to somebody lol. So if you are speaking with devotion / respect about a SO, better avoid them.

In Greek there are no words for husband and wife. There is only the word spouse which is common between the genders. However, Greeks very often say "my man" and "my woman".

It is also common for people to use "ο άνθρωπός μου" - "o ánthropós mu" - "my human" as a term for a longterm romantic partner. While it is used among heterosexual partners to stress the devotion and seriousness of the relationship, it has been lately used more and more by LGBT+ people as an all-encompassing term because Greek is heavily gendered. The reason the word for partner can't be used in this case is because σύντροφος might be a common word between the genders, however its article changes depending on the partner's gender. On the contrary, the word άνθρωπος (human being) is masculine regardless if it is used to describe a man or a woman, so it is preferred when the speaker does not want to specify their SO's gender.

I find it so disturbing that people /the law makes a distinction between rape and spousal rape. Just the fact that that distinction is made is disturbing. There is no reason to make a distinction between rape and spousal rape/ think of "spousal rape" as a separate type of rape or something unless you believe that marriage makes a woman into property. Of course, the reason people make this distinction is I guess because women WERE legally considered to be property in marriage, so people didn't believe it was possible for a husband to rape his wife, because she was his property since she married him. The fact that people and law still even make a distinction tho, and the fact that the law in many places for spousal rape is different than nonspousal rape, speaks volumes that people still consider marriage to be property ownership. Like, do y'all realize that (I didn't know this either til I researched it) it was a serious academic debate whether or not spousal rape should even be illegal? Like serious academic scholars did not think spousal rape was possible, bc a woman becomes property once she is married, point blank. Seriously. This was a serious debate that congressmen were torn on. Like do you realize marriage makes people see us as property. Do not get married. Ever.

I get such a satisfaction from not being married it's not even funny. Like the way people are like "you've never been married?" I know subconsciously they're thinking "oh you don't have an owner? So I have to consider you a free woman. A human being. Disappointing:(" the way I can see the gears turning in doctors' heads like "oh, so you don't have an owner I can consult, you are literally in charge of your own decisions....damn:(" people are really like "you've NEVER been married?" meanwhile I can have a partner if I want, get all the benefits of that, get all the companionship and sex I want, and still be considered a free autonomous person under law. I can't believe western women even still get married. Like stop getting married. If you're worried about needing someone to put down to make your medical decisions in a terrible situation or whatever so it doesn't default to your parents, put whoever you want down to do that in legal paperwork. Don't give a man anything without serious thought, first of all. But I hate how they say the trad shit about marriage, like not getting married is actually a joyous act of self love if you're female.
