I think 8 episodes is a perfectly acceptable length for a TV season, but it is all wrong for shows like Rings of Power, House of the Dragon and Wheel of Time because all those shows have so many characters and storylines that they struggle to do them all justice in just 8 episodes. 22 wouldn't work either because that's too many. Arc driven shows need to be tight so they don't drag. 10-15 episodes is probably the ideal length for these types of shows.
