BG3 Companions Social Media Headcanons Part 1

I was bored at work and couldn’t stop. 🤣 I’ll make another post with Halsin, Minthara, Jaheira, Minsc, and some NPCs!

Astarion - Pre-Tav, Astarion's social media is mostly thirst-traps for some kind of nefarious, Cazador-related money-making plot. They barely scoot past the TOS on lewd content. Very little real personal content, anything that isn't a thirst trap is heavily doctored lifestyle content to make it seem like he's living a much more luxurious life than he actually is.

After meeting Tav and getting rid of Cazador, he deletes all of his old accounts and opens up new ones. They're not exactly private, but he's much more careful about who he follows and who can follow him back. The posts become much more genuine. Still a lot of selfies, but they're sexy in the way of a guy just finally living his truth and being comfortable in his own skin. There's more shots of his daily life; waking up with his partner's obnoxious pets strewn across the bed, morning coffee and his current favorite book, new outfits that make him feel more himself. Tav features heavily in most of his posts, and there are probably as many pictures of them as there are of himself.

Karlach - chaos. No rhyme or reason. Lots of parkour and Jack-ass parodies. Constant flood of pictures of her stuffed animal collection. Stupid filters abound. There's several videos of her just flexing. Lumberjack videos. Seven hundred pictures of Tav, tons of selfies together. Videos of her literally sobbing over some cute stuffy she found or a dog she got to pet. "How many times can I say the fuck word before I get suspended." Memes. Memes everywhere.

Lae'zel - She follows three accounts and never posts anything, but somehow she's constantly scrolling through. What does she even do? Her profile picture is still the default. She doesn't have any profile information filled out. It just says "No." Her screen name is just Lae_zel. Every single item in her favorites is a cat video. She has One photo and its a gym selfie. All of her comments seem really mean at first, but they're all weirdly supportive things along the lines of "your teeth are sharp and your visage terrifying".

Shadowheart - total E-girl influencer vibe. Everything is #nofilter. She doesn't need filters. She's god's most perfect princess. You can't even be mad because it's not vanity its just how she Is. Ends everything with Prayer-hands-emoji hashtag Shar'sblessings or Selune'sblessings depending on where she is in that journey. Hairstyle and makeup tutorials and she makes it look so damn easy. "Dye my hair and cut my bangs with me." "Get ready with me" videos nearly every day. Every picture has a comment from Astarion that just says "oh fuck off" because even he can never hope to be as perfect as she is. Or at least that's what her forty-five thousand followers think.

Wyll - The official Blade of the Frontier social media account(s). Fencing videos and promos. "How to polish your horns for newbies" video that's been taken down twenty-seven times for lewd content even though it's literally for polishing actual horns. Accidental thirst traps because damn. Lots of disability advocacy, especially for visual impairments. Weekly Demon/Devil PSAs. Constantly featured in Karlach's vids and vice-versa. Buddy selfies. Once in a while a pic of him with his dad. Pics with Tav are rare, but when he does post them they're the sweetest pictures and he gushes about them for paragraphs. It's a little gross how gushy they are. Astarion comments with vomit emojis and Wyll just replies with an angry face emoji. The purest content. He's so wholesome. Not a swear to be seen. Lots of gentle hype videos. "You've got this. You can do this. I believe in you."

Gale - oh my god he has the most pretentious social media accounts. He's worse than Astarion. "Well, actually" videos with multiple parts because they're too long. Tea and bookshelves. Tara. So many pics of Tara. Tara napping on a book. Tara swatting a fly. Tara in the window. Tara on the kitchen counter. Tara laying in the sun. Tara doing nothing. He has one of those fancy cat terrarium backpacks. Magic tutorials. Mystra simp. Surprisingly few selfies but the ones he has are IMMACULATE. Pretentious book reviews. His only saving grace is that he is HILARIOUS. He's the only one with a reasonable about of pics with Tav as opposed to almost none or way too many, but the captions are always really sweet.

My art inspirations

William Heath Robinson- He was an English Cartoonist that lived though 1872-1944. Not only do I enjoy his drawings because of the fun elements that he would bring into them with machines, but I really like his use of line. His use of a single width for his line work and other artists have directly affected my own works. I also really enjoy the flat colors that he uses in his works.

John James Audubon- He was a American- French artist and ornithologist ( study of birds) who lived from 1785-1851. He recorded and painted many species of birds that are native here in America. I love his art. The composition, the colors, the accuracy of the birds is to die for. Huge inspiration when it comes to drawing birds. Recommend studying his art if your interested in bird drawing!

(Also the last bird picture is of a Carolina Parakeet, which was the only parakeet native to the southwest of North America)

(unfortunately it went extinct around the 1900's, which is a shame as it looks like it was such a pretty bird)

He also drew some mammals from America (tbh though some of them look a bit..... odd). This guy looks hella cursed lol

Joe Weatherly- He is a California based artist that focuses on animal art. His artworks are very dynamic in nature and I love his use of color in his artworks. He also has done multiple books on drawing animals and of his own art (first picture is of his book Animal Essence). I highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning how to draw animals!

I have always been a fan of brushwork in artworks and have always been inspired by Chinese brush painting and Japanese woodblock art. I've always liked nature and landscapes and flowers which tend to be the main subjects of this type of art and honestly I just really enjoy them ( I mean look at the brushwork its amazing).

So this was just a small list of some of the artworks and artist that inspire me and my art. Wanted to write this blog for myself as a sort of reference point and to show others different artists that they may not know of. Honestly this was so much fun to write! I mainly write a ton for college and it can be a bit taxing but it's nice to write something for myself and on a topic I really enjoy!

Honeycake

(Just cake baking fluff, sfw)

You decide to bake for the brothers and you know you want to bake a cake. But you want to make a cake that is suitable to all tastes. So you decide on honeycake, a flavor that isn't too sweet or too flavorless. With berry topping and powdered sugar, it's perfect.

The brothers happen to be out, either due to RAD student council duties or due to random events. For once you have time to yourself. So you get to work.

The brothers return home either from student council duties or their own events. They're excited to see you but are surprised when they don't see you near the entrance hall or in your room. Then... Beel smells it. He walks over to the kitchen, he can smell the traces of your baking despite how clean the whole kitchen was.

It eventually leads him, and the rest of his brothers, to the dining room. There you've got two large circular honeycakes decorated in fresh berries with powdered sugar. You greet the brothers and watch their reactions.

Beelzebub

The one who arrived at the dining room first. You had set aside a whole cake, just for him since you knew he usually ate in larger proportions. He could barely hold himself back from eating them both so he sat further away from the others. He wanted them to taste your work too!

He ate slowly, which he rarely ever does. You put in so much effort for this, he didn't want to spoil that by eating too quickly. It was perfect. Not too sweet. Not too heavy but still had a delicious flavor. He would be asking for more of this soon! And he might even just start calling you honeycake, since you're just as sweet!

Belphegore

Belphie knew something was up when he didn't see you greeting them and especially when Beel made a beeline for the kitchen. But to his surprise, you'd made some honeycake for them all, even making a whole cake just for Beel. Just when he thought you couldn't get any sweeter...

He tried some, wanting to get a taste before he fell asleep. He took a bite and his eyes widened in surprise. This was delicious. It was sweet and had a great texture. The berries helped add diversity to the flavor. It reminded him of the times he would visit the human world and eat some of their wild berries. He had a feeling this would become his new favorite treat.

Asmodeus

"It's so cute!!!"

He ended up taking a billion pictures for devilgram, mostly selfies with the cake, before he even took a bite. Though he did like the flavor he absolutely loved the aesthetic. However, he was pleasantly surprised when he discovered the cute treat not only looked good but tasted good too.

He adored the berries and the treat didn't require as much sugar as a regular cake would, using mostly honey. If he ever wanted a sweet treat that didn't have as much sugar or at least was a little healthier, he'd have to have a bit of honeycake. It did help the cake also brought him tons of likes on devilgram. Perhaps he'd have to give you a treat of his own later.

Satan

It wasn't unexpected for you to make a surprise for them when they were all out at once. But it was a bit of a surprise for you to bake a surprise. He'd wondered what you were up to, especially since the kitchen smelled like you had been baking.

You'd even arranged the berries in a little cat image for his slice of cake. It was so cute, he could only stare at it. He couldn't eat such a cute cat! Even if it was made of berries. Fortunately Asmo suggested taking photos so he'd never lose the cuteness. After that he was able to devour the delicious cake. He'd have to ask you for the recipe so he could add it to one of his cooking books.

Leviathan

"Omg it's just like a that episode on My Best Friend Baked Me a Cake from Honey and-"

Fortunately Mammon shoved honeycake into his mouth to keep him from rambling out a massive title. Leviathan enjoyed the berries and honeycake. For him, the texture was prefect and spongey. He was always about textures when it came to dessert.

He also took pictures but more for his own collection and less for devilgram. There was an anime that this honeycake reminded him of so it felt like an otaku moment, even if that's probably not what you were intending. Perhaps he could convince you to bake a version with ruri-chan on it?

Mammon

It annoyed him that you weren't there to greet him, the great Mammon, right away. He wouldn't admit it but there were times he wished to get a little more affection, yah know? His attitude changed real quick when Beel set off for the kitchen. When his eyes caught sight of the delicious looking cake, he couldn't help but feel happy.

Mammon wasn't usually a sweets kind of guy. He'd eat it but it was not as good as spicy foods. Yet with the honeycake he was surprised. It wasn't too sweet. He'd had tons of cakes that were just a mouthful of sugar but this one surprised him. And when he heard you say something along the lines of how it was made with love, he was desperately hoping you'd make it more often.

Lucifer

Unlike the others, he didn't mind that you weren't waiting for them at the door. Keep telling yourself that bud. You were a busy human who needed to get things done. Though, he didn't like the idea of you being sooo busy that you didn't wish to at least greet HIM. Then, he smelled the scent of something from the kitchen after Beel already raced off to it.

On the outside he remained calm and collected, as always. But on the inside it warmed his heart to see his brothers all gathered around a treat you'd worked so hard on. You even set aside a cup of coffee that would work well with the cake. He enjoyed the dessert with his brothers and contemplated on what to get you as thanks. After all, you deserved a reward...

I can't sleep so I'm just laid here and I started thinking about the Foxes that go on to play exy professionally and what they'd do after retirement:

Andrew

I know for a fact that this interaction happened during Andrews last press event after his last match.

Reporter: so Andrew, now that you've officially retired, what are you gonna do now?

Andrew: I'm gonna be a stay at home dad.

Obviously the reporters run w it and suddenly everyone's trying to figure out when Andrew had kids and who with all the while he's at home with the cats aka his children all day.

I also think he either starts coaching exy at a school or at a youth centre because he recognises the out that exy gave him and he's great with kids.

Neil

Neil's got too much of a mouth on him to go quietly into retirement so I definitely see him being a commentator and providing some of the highest praise and most iconic insults ever known to the sports channels.

I feel like he'd miss actually playing though so he'd probably become some kind of coach. Maybe even goes back to PSU to help Dan as assistant coach after Wymack retires.

Kevin

That boy was born and bred for his own sports related show. I like the idea of him and Jeremy hosting this exy post show where they go over everything that's happened in the week. Jeremy is ever positive, Kevin is harsher with his commentary but they've both got smiles made for prime time TV.

They have a 3rd on the panel reserved for a different special guest each week. Such special guests at one point include Neil, Wymack, and Andrew who only went on to see if he could get Kevin to crack and break character.

Matt

100% becomes a stay at home dad to his and Dan's actual human kids and their golden retriever. During this retirement press conference he says something about proudly being Dan's trophy husband.

Coach's his kids little league team, even if they're not playing exy. Makes homemade signs with the kids for when they go watch the Foxes play.

Buys Andrew a matching "best dad ever" mug the minute Andrew drops that line in his interview. When Neil teams up with Dan to coach the Foxes these two become random best buds, going out for food and and drinks together, sitting together at games, worldlessly teaming up to make sure Dan and Neil have lunch every day at practise.

+ Jeremy and Jean

The minute Jean retires he's done with exy. Jeremy goes on to do a shit ton of charity work and be on the weekly prime time exy show with Kevin but Jean is more than happy to stay out of the public eye.

They live on a farm or like in a super cute small town where nobody bothers them. Jean spends all day reading books, painting, takes up photography and becomes so good that he's hired by the locals for weddings, newborn pics, etc. He's a regular at the farmers market. Maybe if they live on a farm then he has his own stall selling eggs, jams, and family recipes that Jeremy passed down to him from the Knox family and that Jean has perfected over the years.

And they travel as much as they can! They have a second home in France and use that as their home base while they trav around Europe every chance they can get.

hello anon! I'd be glad to give you an overview and some tips for starting out! :D

Time Princess is what happens when all your childhood dreams of getting transported into a book come true.

At heart, the game is a set of continual isekai stories, transporting you to different "books" with the help of a magic desk and giving you "create your own adventure" options to see how the story plays out.

Your fairy companion Isabelle helps you learn the ropes, and you have to go through one mandatory book (a Marie Antoinette themed story) to get access to your room and the larger bookstore

For each chapter you complete, you earn 1-3 tickets. With these tickets, you can unlock new books! The more you play, the more you earn towards new stories.

The game currency works on a coins and diamonds system--you don't NEED to purchase anything to play (though it may make the game a bit easier in some areas)

You get free stamina to access books and crafting materials every 11 hours and the Time Princess discord server has codes pretty frequently for diamonds, tickets, etc.

I personally splurge for the Fashion Booster every 2 months because I know it helps support the game and the artists! I try not to use real money on the random outfits unless I REALLY want one bc it can get addictive.

One of my favorite parts of the game is that, as you play, you unlock "album" art (full color illustrations that tie into the story!!)

One other thing I love is that the game is very targeted towards Bisexuals, as there are TONS of queer wlw story lines (though because of the games' popularity overseas and censorship, often gets called "best friends" etc)

Another fun part is the variety of stories!!!! There's art history!! There's stuff based on old fairy tales like Swan Lake. There's fantasy stories like The Apothecary. There's a Pirate story!!! There's Chinese, Japanese, and Korean stories. There's a western cowboy story! There's futuristic scifi!!! There's a victorian flavored horror story!!!

Most, if not all, of the stories are with adult characters and have adult storylines!! (the books will also give you a content warning before downloading)

On top of the stories, there's plenty of other fun aspects--mini games, fashion challenges, checking in with your companions every day to earn crafting materials, joining a society, playing events, and just playing dress up with your outfits and taking pics for fun.

The discord community is great too, and there's often interview nights with some of the book authors and giveaways of materials and prizes (I actually ended up winning a plushie Lafayette one time!)

The discord server also has game guides and walkthroughs for everything!

Everyone who plays the game gets really into the stories and characters, so even though the tumblr presence of fans may be smaller, you have an immediate bond with the other players!!!

They've also done some really cool collabs with museums like The Louvre and the Flamenco museum. You get to earn clothes from famous paintings or historical ones during that event period!

Finally, don't forget to save your big clothing crafting for Saturdays! You get double the materials!!

ANYWAY. it turns out that even though attendants are a built-in part of the noble sweetheart playbook (cookie's title) and you're SUPPOSED to be using them... for me in practice, when i'm actually playing the game, i just keep totally forgetting lmfao!!!! :') rping with my other party members and chasing quests and stuff is so engaging that my brain is totally booked with just being cookie, let alone two additional npcs, so sadly dandy and velvet have not gotten a ton of screentime in the current campaign

BUT that really just makes me eager to one day play them properly in a different campaign, whether that's them each taking their turn as player characters like was originally intended, or when i'm GMing a campaign of my own (i'm trying to write up something for my friends, but i have no idea when it's actually gonna happen bc i'm so busy rip... but when i do, cookie and her attendants will def be npcs)

i honestly don't have MUCH i can say abt them, bc since i haven't played them much i also havent developed them much... i suppose i can give summaries tho!

in terms of vibes velvet is very much like, "guy who is brooding so hard that it stops being mysterious or having any gravity at all and is mostly just making people wonder if she's like? okay?????" like there is only so long you can spend with your back to the rest of the group clenching your fist and muttering to yourself before people just start kind of glossing over it and being like "oh haha that's CLASSIC sir velvet the unsmiling!!!"... mix this with a heady dose of "[nasal voice] UM, you forgot to collect the homework" and somehow you have created a creature ideal for wrangling cookie's effusive elaborate scatterbrained whims, somehow, most of the time. velvet is really similar to a different Brooding Goth Knight character i have wherein my formula is "make a character who looks extremely fucking sicknasty badass, then never ever ever stop making fun of them ever"

dandy is cookie's quartermaster, and so unlike velvet (who's usually assumed to be traveling around with cookie, even if i am constantly forgetting to roleplay that it's doing that) he mostly chills at chateau gorgeous looking after his liege's affairs and making sure the ppl who live there are fed + sheltered + generally taken care of. they are pretty much velvet's exact opposite in terms of temperament; EVERYTHING gets velvet's hackles up, NOTHING phases dandy. i need to be careful bc i am starting to arbitrarily ship them just from typing this. anyway, dandy is largely non-verbal; they're able to speak if really necessary, but they would just rather not, and if there's really no way around it they'd rather just sidle over to cookie and whisper it to her, and then let her communicate whatever they want to say to the rest of the group on their behalf; if cookie's not around, you're just gonna have to figure out how to communicate w him otherwise. which always works out fine bc dandy is very patient and used to getting along in silence!

of course! their relationship is one of my favorites in the series, and i love their development. some of these are from when they're really young and others in their teen years. hope you enjoy these. i did make another jameson and grayson hcs post if you want to check that out. its not specifically about them as kids, but there are some hcs about them younger.

they used to binge watch friends together. jameson was the only one who knew grayson loved the show. jameson's favorite characters were joey and phoebe and grayson's were rachel (and joey but he'd never admit it) (i honestly dont remember much from the tv show so like their fav characters might be inaccurate)

grayson used to love (and still does) ranting about his paintings and stuff as a kid to jameson. he'd drag jameson out of his room or wherever he is, take him to his art room, and start talking about the different colors he used, what he thinks he can improve, asking for jamie's opinion, asking jamie if he can paint him, etc.

gray once made this gorgeous painting and jamie really liked it but was too shy to ask grayson if he could have it. gray could see he wanted the painting and surprised him one day after school with it hung up in his room with a card saying 'a gift from your brother who loves you very much. never forget that' (this happened when they were like 11-12)

gray once admitted when he was 9 that he loves flowers so jameson went out to their garden and picked tons of flowers that he thought grayson would like/reminded him of grayson. he made a huge super aesthetic bouquet and put it in grayson's room. he didn't tell him it was him though cause he didn't want grayson to think he was soft (gray knew though)

jamie would run into gray's room after having a nightmare to cuddle with him. he think gray has a really nice, relaxing voice so he'd make him read him a story/talk to him.

they were both the face of this expensive kids' clothing brand when they were like 10-11 (they've probably been the face of many brands, i might make a post about that).

when jamie was a newborn, grayson absolutely loved to kiss jamie's cheek before he went to sleep. he'd literally cry until someone took him to jamie's room to let him kiss his cheek.

when gray was learning how to take nice pictures with his camera (ig he was around 10), he'd take walks in the blackwood and drag jamie alone bc jamie was always truthful about the quality of his pics. if smth was bad, he'd say it. gray appreciated his honesty.

grayson taught him how to put on a tie. he'd sit with him in front of a mirror for a week straight trying to get him to learn how (jamie was super uninterested in learning which is why it took him a week)

when jamie was younger, he used to kick off his sheets while sleeping. he'd always wake up shivering begging for someone to hug him to warm him up. gray used to sit next to him while he took naps, reading some kids book, and would pull the blankets over him when he pulled them off.

gray used to pick out jamie's little oufits when he was a baby (gray was like 3 and already knew how to dress someone nicely bc, well, he's a hawthorne). he used to sit in front of his closet on a stool cause he was too short, flipping through jamie's clothes.

when jamie was a like 7, he was so scared that gray would drown when swimming that he would sit hidden behind trees or smth, keeping an eye over him to make sure he wouldn't die.

jamie has always loved music. ever since he was like 10, he'd run into grayson's room whenever he found a song he thought he'd really like. he'd say smth like 'gray, gray, i found a song i think you'd like can you pls listen to it'

jamie would hide behind the door whenever he'd hear grayson playing the piano cause he liked the sound of it. he found grayson to be a really talented pianist and found the sound of him playing really relaxing. he especially loved listening to grayson playing the piano whenever tobias would tell him he wasn't enough. he found it comforting.

jamie would steal all of grayson's underwear and hide it on the roof. grayson would have to wear pants with nothing underneath or would have to call nash to get his underwear back. tobias would get super mad at jamie obviously, but jameson didn't care cause he thought it was worth it.

grayson has always hated the sound of nails on chalkboard. he's the biggest hater. jamie used to come up behind him with a mini chalkboard scratching it to piss him off. he stopped doing it after grayson hit him in the head with the chalkboard when he was 12.

jamie used to sometimes sit down in gray's room asking him about what he's currently reading bc he knows gray loves to rant about his books but is too shy to do it cause he thinks he's bothering people. gray would light up and smile and start ranting. jamie honestly couldn't care less about the books but loved to see his brother happy. he stopped doing that when emily started causing issues between them but recently started doing it again (gray cried the first time he did this after emily)

following my last hc, jamie has always loved formula 1. grayson used to look at the runs with jamie which usually happened very early on sunday mornings so nobody ever wanted to watch it with him. grayson always did though even though he didn't care about f1 (this has been going on since jamie was like 11, but stopped for a while after emily wrecked them, but they started doing it again a few months after avery came into the picture) (@ariscats)

when jamie was a child, he wouldn't be able to sleep with the lights off cause he hated the dark. he found the dark lonely (still does) and would always overthink in it. he used to go to bed with the lights on bc of this but tobias hated it bc he thought it was stupid. gray knew tobias got mad and it made jamie sad so he'd go into his room every night to turn the lights off after he fell asleep. as jamie got older (and wanted to please the old man more and more), he started going to bed with the lights off even though it made him feel like shit.

gray's hands would always get cold when they were really young in the winter but would always forget to bring gloves. jamie would remember though and bring him some in case he needed them when they went out. as they got older, gray slowly started to remember to bring gloves so jamie stopped.

FRAT BOY LANDO x ENGINEERING NERD OSCAR x LITERATURE NERD READER PLEASE OMG (i saw pics of oscar in a tux and lando with the backwards hat)

ummmm this was in drafts and it kinda goes w some other asks i got the other day ab frat boy lando and engineer oscar so im gonna go on ab oscar and reader meeting in the library.

oscar and reader meet in the library when all the other tables are full so he asks to sit with her, but she doesn’t hear him. she’s got like three books open along with her laptop and a ton of pens and highlighters, sticky notes and tabs all over the pages so she can add notes and save pages for later. it looks like a scattered mess to him, but she looks perfectly calm as she scrawls pretty cursive onto a sticky note and then carefully places it underneath a specific line. she looks up and jumps when she sees him waiting there, removes an airpod and apologizes for not noticing him. he would laugh it off and apologizes for standing there, then repeats himself. she agrees and pulls her books closer, reorganizes her pile of writing utensils and note pads so he'll have more room. he takes the invitation to set his stuff down and pulls out the seat across from her.

her airpod goes back in and he's relieved he didn't get stuck with w chatterbox because he really needs to work. the next few days follow that pattern, the library being full and him joining her at her table in the back corner after navigating his way through and not finding his own. after a week, he gets into the habit of going straight to her table and it becomes a kind of ritual. he doesn’t even ask anymore, she somehow sees him coming each time and shuffles her possessions around to make room for him and they study in silence until one of them leaves.

after a few impromptu silent study sessions he’s noticed she always carries snacks with her, and he’s buying himself a snack from the vending machine and sees the last of her favorites and buys it without thinking. when he gets to the table, pulls a candy bar from his backpack and slides it across the table, says it was the last one and he knows it’s her favorite. she’s like, “i’ve never told you that?” and he tells her she has one with her every time and he just saw it and got it for her. she’s trying not to swoon because they’ve hardly talked and he’s paying attention to her? knows what candy bar she eats mid study session?

then, he gets there after a month of perfect silent study sessions and there’s someone sitting next to her, clearly distracting her from her work. he stops in the aisle, a dozen paces from them and watches as he tucks her hair behind her ear and she bites her lip. it irritates him, watching the interaction. this is a library. meant for studying. not flirting. he suddenly steps forward, purposely slapping the sole of his shoe onto the ground so she’ll hear. like a dog hearing a whistle, her head jokes over and she grins, automatically rearranging the table for him. she speaks to him for the first time in weeks, “hey! i hope you don’t mind, we have a project together.”

oscar waits until lando leaves an hour later to ask if she wants to hang out some time, and she’d tease him about being jealous. he insists he was already going to ask her when he arrived but they’d been interrupted. she’d ask what he wants to do and he’d shrug and say, “i dunno, movies, dinner? a picnic? bowling? we can do whatever you want.” the hang out certainly sounds more like a date, so she teases him a little more, “are you asking me out on a date, oscar?” and he rolls his eyes and nudges her foot with his under the table and says, “yeah, yeah. whatever. friday?” and she kinda winces and says, “actually, i’m supposed to go to a party at lan’s on friday- you could come too though!”

oscar huffs out a laugh and says, “you’re inviting me to a party he invited you to? i don’t think he’d want me there. parties aren’t my scene. saturday?” she instantly nods and agrees, and they make plans to go see a movie and get dinner. oscar ends up going to the party even though he hates them, tells his friend logan about his date and logan drags him to the party because he’s convinced lando invited her to fuck and if he leaves her alone with him friday night there’s no way he’s getting his date. logan seems to be right because when he finds reader she’s with lando and he has his arm around her shoulders as he pours a drink into her cup. oscar interrupts by asking what she’s drinking and she’s on her third drink, hears his voice and gets too excited. she spins away from lando as he’s still pouring, the vodka spilling onto the tile as her cup moves with her and she wraps oscar in a hug. she’s telling him how happy she is he decided to come, lando's glaring at him and he's genuinely thankful his best friend dragged him to a party for once.

lando tries to steer her away from oscar numerous times, grabbing her wrist and pulling her with him, resting a possessive arm over her shoulder and walking away with her. each time she finds oscar again and they chat until lando finds her and grumbles that he thought she was getting a drink, or peeing. she's like "ohhh sorry, i saw oscar and got distracted!" oscar brimming with pride that she saw him and forgot what she was doing, forgot about lando. but then lando's steering her away again and he's watching them go, hoping she'll find him again soon.

she lets it slip where they're having dinner the next night, and lando conveniently shows up and joins them at their booth before either of them can stop him.. lando’s never felt better than when oscar’s jaw clenched as he slid into their booth, and dropped his arm over her shoulder like it belonged there, and asked it they mind him joining. oscar snaps that they do mind. but lando ignores him and asks her what they’re doing out together, like it isn’t painfully obvious they’re on a date. they’re both a little more dressed up than normal, wanting to impress the other, and he had seen the soft look she was giving oscar before lando appeared behind him and then sat next to her. it’s definitely awkward and lando is happy with the uncomfortable tension, smirking when the waitress comes over and says she didn’t know they had a third, and asks what he would like to drink and if they’re all ready to order.

Oh fave fics! I love talking about fics and books, though I feel I talk about fics everyone knows and have nothing new to offer, esp since I've not read much in the last 2-3 years. Still, narrowing it down to 10 is super hard, so I've looked at my bookmarks and chose the ten fics that I've reread the most.

1. Bound Skerry by Frayach (drarry, M, 2.3k)

I've read this a hundred times and I'll keep coming back to it. Possibly my most read fic. The reason it's one of my Forever Fics is the prose. Absolutely stunning writing.

2. House Proud by astolat (drarry, M, 23k)

The original House Magic fic and the best one. I particularly love the hints of dark faerie magic, the horror elements and the brilliant worldbuilding. Astolat's prose is super readable and the pacing is excellent.

3. with exactness grinds he all by thistle_verse (drarry, M, 6k)

An aching fic with beautiful, lyrical writing. I've reread this so many times.

4. Art in Life by northofallmusic (tofsla) (wangxian, T, 2k)

I feel I'm repeating myself but this has excellent prose and it's aching and tender and made me feel all the feels.

5. Out of the Dead Land by orphan account (stucky, M, 63k)

OK so this hasn't stood the test of time because I finished it a few days ago, but WOW. Absolutely brilliant. I'm not even a stucky fan or anything. But I kept thinking about it when I was doing other stuff and I set aside the books I was reading so as to finish this. Now it's days later and it's still on my mind. I can't remember the last time I had a book/fic hangover. A very angsty fic and a fantastic exploration of Bucky's trauma. This is by one of my top authors of all time, who's now orphaned everything.

6. Mr Webster's Wager by Fahye + orphan author (same one as above) (Ash/Webster, E, 27k)

Now we're getting into the horny fics. This one is based on a KJ Charles short story which is the best romance short story ever written in my not so humble opinion. This takes the original story and the horniness of that scene and expands it into many horny scenes. It's masterful, very very hot, and just a fantastic fic.

7. Unhook the Stars by jad (drarry, E, 70k)

One of the first drarry fics I read and one that made a huge impression on me. Super kinky, lots of sex scenes, I've reread this a LOT.

8. IDK My BFF Hermione? by lettered (drarry, E, 19k)

Extraordinary. Phenomenal. It will always have a place in my Top 10. Also, very filthy, which is a huge plus in my book.

9. a better happier st sebastian by halsinator (Jonathan Strange, E, 6k)

Another one I reread a million times. Stunning prose and vibes and beautiful yearning. I keep coming back to it.

10. live from new york by varnes (wangxian, E, 87k)

A masterpiece, a classic of wangxian, this is a Saturday Night Live AU, which is such a bizarre choice for an AU--and yet it works. I don't live in US, I have never watched SNL, but I adored the fic.

I've left out a ton of favourite works and authors I adore, but for more of my faves, my AO3 Bookmarks is the place to go.

I have to say, this exercise has been quite illuminating: I don't think I've ever had such a clear glimpse of what makes me tick. In short, sublime prose, an aching, yearning mood and/or filthy porn.

As for my username, here's the story: I joined tumblr a gazillion years ago (way before I got into fandom) and my first blog (still exists: @magpie-x ) was mostly what you'd call an aesthetic blog. I'd reblog cool pics and quotes and occasionally post a personal post about my life. I named it magpie because it was a place where I collected everything shiny, like a magpie. I rarely used it after a while tbh. Years later I read The Raven Cycle and fell heads over heel with pynch and knew that the only place I'd find fans was tumblr. I got into the nascent TRC fandom and soon I needed a space exclusively for fannish posts. I created a sideblog called magpiefangirling and when I later got an AO3 account I shortened the name. Years later I got into drarry, I became very active on tumblr again, and the sideblog wasn't enough so I deleted it and created a brand new blog with my AO3 name.

In short, magpiefngrl, means magpie being a fangirl. It was a random decision but it has now shaped me and I think of myself as Magpie in fandom spaces, and even chose that as my pen name for my future original romance books.

Geminism Trial, thoughts and observations

I just noticed Geminism's trial is out, so this will be a short post on my thoughts regarding it. I've been eagerly waiting for this game for a few years now, especially since I'm a massive fan of Sayonara wo Oshiete, and this brings back a ton of the staff from that era.

I've tagged some other games that are related / probably inspirations, so take that as you will if you're seeing this post randomly lol

Overall Thoughts: An amazing introduction to a game that I've been excited for, for a while now. The writing style in Japanese is absolutely amazing, unique and got me absolutely hooked, and the visual and sound direction are just phenomenal. I want to also note it has the best direction of presentation I've ever seen from a visual novel to date, with tons of cool cut-ins and effects. I cannot wait to experience the full version of this game.

There will be at least some minor spoilers with OOC screenshots and whatnot in the rest of this post, so keep that in mind if you read!

First thing I noticed was that the game is in Unity, so I wonder if it'll take advantage of effects and stuff at all? It makes sense for the CRAFTWORK staff that I know of to work in an engine like this though, since they have some wizards there.

I like that they open their eyes when you hover over the game button, this sort of presentation in VNs adds a lot since it's like the cover to a book or album, it gives something to the rest of the atmosphere that's hard to describe.

The settings screen is super neat, but also the "戦局" screen being there is super interesting. I think it's something like a TIPS page that some older ADVs have, so it serves as a reference as you read. I'm guessing who has what body part is going to be important throughout the work.

I also find it funny that Awasumi's voice is at 100% by default while the rest are like 60%, and I really wonder if that's because a certain famous someone voices him, who's using the pen name 杯瑠万花 (literally read as: Pile Bunker, I'm not joking)

The visual style reminds me a LOT of Ciconia, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a direct inspiration. The widescreen NVL format with the film grain + blurred backgrounds just screams that was an influence on this game.

The OP being called "twyndyllyngs ~Fuguai no Alice~" is kinda funny in mind with the last point too, since Ciconia draws a lot from TRianThology in turn as well.

The visual direction is indeed amazing, I haven't seen anything like this since going through some of Shumon Yuu's stuff ages ago. Should also be noted this game has proper scene jump as well, which is damn impressive to implement into Unity of all engines.

The writing style is actually really excellent overall, I love lines line this in particular. It's harder to read than say, SayoOshi though. It should be noted that it's getting an English release on the same day as the Japanese one too, so it's cool that it's going to be so accessible and something actually done by a first-party and not some underpaid localizer.

I just realized it's somewhat like Muramasa with the sprites, which is pretty funny when her main one looks so relaxed here.

And yeah, the writing is really damn good and funny so far. I've also realized the game is just mixed weirdly, which is why Sugita's character is 100% volume lol. He's doing a damn amazing job too, I wouldn't have been able to tell it was him if not for his voice PV which pointed out how obvious it was him with the lines they used.

The other 3 voice actors as well, Nakaya Shiho, Nakaya Naho and Sumeragi Mikado all do amazing jobs as well. I really like that the Nakayas chose their pen names to seem like siblings. Also it should be brought up that they do vocals for the OP, which I think is amazing.

It should probably also be stated that it's still 100% a CRAFTWORK game, so expect some extremely graphic and definitely triggering psychosexual content if you read this.

I can't get a pic that's as out of context as these, but the visual effects are pretty crazy. They definitely take advantage of having a more traditional game engine, which is pretty amazing since Unity is somewhat infamous in terms of VNs.

Another no pic thing but the choices are like Fallout 4, where it's just a truncated form of what you actually say, and I think that's kinda funny.

•Hawk probably wasn't out looking for single mom's, he thinks milfs are hot but he's not going out if his way to seek them out. It's not like a kink or fetish. But he is into any age milf that comes along trying to start something with him. The idea of them having a kid doesn't bother him in the slightest. If anything he respects them even more in a relationship for bring able to manage a kid. (Hawk definitely has a literal breeding kink, he actually wants kids, getting with someone who already has one is a plus in his book.)

•Probably meet her in class, they had to pair up for a class project and he got assigned to her. She was nice enough and pretty smart. She practically did the whole project by herself during class, he was just the worker. Though out class he couldn't help but keep looking over at her. After spending days together working on the project he starts to notice how pretty she is, even going as far to say she's hot. He even invites her to his lunch table during lunch.

•He noticed that she sneaks off during lunch and starts to wonder where she goes. He ends up following her and she ends up in the nurses office. After a few days he finally asks her why she's always sneaking out of lunch to go to the nurses office. She's shy about it but admits that she goes to the nurses office because she has a baby and she breastfeed's, she goes to the nurse so she can privately pump and store her milk in the nurses fridge so she can pick it up before school ends and being if home to feed her baby.

•Hawk doesn't try to shame her or even say anything, he just says he's happy she's not sick like he thought. The two of them just kinda smile at each other and go about their business. But Hawk then takes the time to walk with her to the nurse's office everyday. The two of them talking about random things or her baby.

•One day she finally asks Hawk if he wants to hang out. She admits that she would have to bring her baby because she wouldn't be able to get a sitter, but Hawk is cool with it. He tells her how he's been really interested in meeting her kid after they talk so much about them. They end up going to the pool together.

•After hours of playing with her baby, going to the kiddy pool area and splashing around. Hawk holds the little baby up as they wade though the water. He's smiling and laughing as the baby kicks it's little legs and giggles. The little one clapping it's little hands. Hawk hates to admit how much he loved it. He held them as Reader dried them off on the side of the pool. Reader takes a crap ton of pictures of Hawk holding the bundled up baby, Hawk laying in one of the chairs with sunglasses on grinning at the camera. She even snaps a pic of him spoon feeding the baby a spoon full of ice cream.

•The day ends well and Hawk drives them back to Readers place. He doesn't want to admit it but he wishes they could keep the night going, but he has to go home. Reader puts the now sleeping baby to bed and comes back out to talk to Hawk. The two of them talk for a bit before he has to go. Hawk can't help it when he swoops down and kisses her. It's a light kiss on the lips, not to hard but not to soft. Just a minute or two long kiss that makes him want more. But he stops himself and just holds her for a moment before saying he really wants to do this again sometime. He reluctantly slips away from her and leaves, but not before sending a smirk back at her.

•A few months later they are official together and everyone knows at school, even the kids at the dojo know that they are a thing. Everyone thinks they are adorable. The dojo kids love hanging around her. They start to question why they all don't hang out together outside of school. Hawk and Reader talk about it and decide that maybe they should tell the others about the baby, because no one at school knows that she's a single mom. They decide to do a group outing at the park so the dojo kids and Hawk can train.

•Everyone is surprised when Hawk and Reader show up with a big stroller with a baby in it, even more so when Hawk picks the little thing up and starts holding it and carrying it around. The baby giggles and holds onto Hawk like a lifeline. They are just shocked about the fact that Hawk is smiling the whole time.

•When they finally ask about the baby, Hawk just holds onto the baby and Reader and explains that, yeah, Reader is a teen mom and this is her baby, Reader is my girlfriend, and yeah I guess this is my baby too. Insert Sam and Miguel gushing over said baby, Robby is slightly terrified when Miguel hands him the baby but then doesn’t want to give it back. Burt, Chris and Little red are asking questions about what it’s like taking care of a baby ect. The whole thing turns into a giant “We are going to steal your baby for they rest of the day” while Hawk and Reader just watch them go crazy of her baby. It’s a great day.

(Kinda want to do more on this because Dad!Hawk is cute.👀)

It's been ages since I had a new book to post, but I finally got through my art block (craft block?) and finished some of the ones that have been languishing, cover-less, on my desk for months. To everyone who liked my last post about the copy of The Machine Stops that I made, thank you! But that was my first book ever, more than two years ago, and I make much better books now! Here, I can prove it:

See? This is Wine Fraud and Other Worthy Pursuits by ImprobableDreams900. It is (unsurprisingly, to anyone who knows me) a Good Omens fic that I asked to bind way back in February. It's a short-ish fic (14k, no slouch but on the short end for this size book), very well-researched and very in character all the way despite being an AU. Though if you're primarily coming from the TV fandom it will be a bit of a departure, as this is a book fic and predates the release of the miniseries. It's not overtly romantic and everyone has more bite than in TV!fic, more in line with book characterization. I love the romantic stuff but there's so much of it, and this was refreshing in comparison.

Endpapers have vintage novelty corkscrews on them. I saw this Florentine print on the Hollanders site while looking for something else and knew I had to have it for this project, it's perfect. And because it's a small book I have tons of it left. The actual front cover is lokta paper, which I hadn't worked with before and am not sure I liked. It's super soft and doesn't seem like it'll be very durable, and it didn't like folding around the board edges. It seemed to get very feather-y as it was handled, shedding little fibers. Though I also experimented with waxing and burnishing the paper to make it waterproof and that might have had an effect. The black spine is book cloth, and the title was done with heat transfer vinyl. This was only my second experiment with HTV and I feel like I still have a lot to learn.

Spot the oopsies! I got the book cloth misaligned and didn't notice till after it was glued down. It's straight but overlaps much further on the back than the front. You don't really notice it unless you look from the top down like this though. In the second photo, you can see where the text block slipped while I was trimming it and I ended up with one signature slightly shorter than the others; it's the last one on the right. Remember to glue before trimming, I guess. It doesn't really bother me; I actually forgot it was there until I took this photo.

Interior photos, title page and first page of text. The artwork was a free download from rawpixel, turned out very nice. I couldn't find any chapter ornaments I liked for this one, so I kept the typeset simple and I think it suits the story well. Understated. Elegant. Exactly what you expect to be there, like a good forgery.

I enjoyed working on this, and it's wonderful to have finished projects to post about again. I can't wait to share the next one.
