Did 3 back to back days of stairmaster workouts last week (10, 12, & 13 minutes) and as a result I can now stand up without putting my hands on the ground in my roller derby class! At the beginning of the first 6-week class, they said you need to go from taking a knee to standing while you're hands are in the air, and I struggled to get up from the ground at all. We're now stating the next round of 6-week classes and it's such a stark difference! This is such a great non-scale milestone!!!

read this to transform your life
hey guys! today, we’re diving into something that can literally transform the next 20 years of your life. why? because pluto has officially entered aquarius, and let me tell you, this is huge. if you’ve got aquarius anywhere in your birth chart like i do, you’re probably already feeling that intense energy—the urge to level up, get things done, and completely reinvent yourself. i mean, look at me: this is my second vlog today and i’ve been non-stop posting since yesterday. it’s like this cosmic shift has supercharged me, and i know it can do the same for you.
but don’t worry, even if you’re not an aquarius, this energy is hitting everyone in some way. so whether you’re ready for it or not, pluto in aquarius is here, and it’s bringing transformation on a massive scale. now, this blog is part of my series called the “game of life”, but since this pluto shift is so major, i’ve decided to make this a crossover between the two themes. we’re going to talk about how to actually use this energy to change your life, level up, and play the long game to completely transform the next 20 years and beyond. so, if you’re ready to tap into this cosmic power and take control of your future, follow along because this blog might just change your life.
just before we dive in, i want you guys to check out a blog i posted a couple of weeks ago—it’s all about the first steps to getting your shit together. it’s a great starting point for understanding how to lay the groundwork for your transformation journey. if you haven’t seen it yet, head over to blog “first steps” and give it a read. trust me, it’ll help you get a solid foundation before you dive into the next level of this process.
avatar
okay, now that you’ve got your basics down from the previous blog, let me introduce you to the game of life. this is where things get fun. first, we’re going to focus on creating your avatar. now, if you’ve read that earlier blog, you’ll remember i talked about building an alter ego. for example, mine is called livia wildrose. she’s my vision of absolute perfection the version of me i aspire to be. this is your chance to go wild. grab a journal and start designing your alter ego and how her life is. i don’t care how crazy, bold, or unrealistic it might seem this is your imagery of perfection. who is she? how does she look? how does she act? what does her life look like? write it all down. get creative draw her, make a mood board, whatever feels right. this is your blueprint. now, here’s the twist: in the game of life, you are the avatar. your current self, with all your flaws and strengths, is the player in this game. your mission? to become your alter ego. think of it like this: your avatar (you) might not have everything your alter ego has right now. maybe she’s more confident, more successful, smarter, richer, or better-looking. but that’s okay because she represents your end goal. every step you take toward embodying her, every choice that aligns you closer to her energy, earns you points in the game of life. the idea is to bridge the gap between who you are now (your avatar) and who you want to be (your alter ego). every time you make progress whether it’s a mindset shift, a small win, or a big milestone you’re leveling up. this is how you win the game.
for example, let’s say your alter ego is this ultra-rich, world-famous singer, idol, and total icon. she’s confident, magnetic, and lives her dream life effortlessly. that’s your end goal that’s your alter ego. now, your job is to build her. create her personality, her habits, her lifestyle, her goals, and most importantly, her mindset. think about it what kind of mindset does she have? does she radiate confidence? does she have unshakable discipline? does she take no for an answer, or does she turn every rejection into motivation? for me, my alter ego, livia wildrose, has a queen-like, goddess-like mindset. that means every single brick life throws at me, i’m gonna build a castle out of it. scratch that i’m gonna build a shrine. nothing breaks me; i only get stronger, wiser, and better. that’s how livia wildrose operates, and that’s what drives me every single day.
imagine you’re playing a game where you have to build a village from scratch. when you start, you don’t just dive in blindly—you go around and observe how other players have built their villages. you notice their strengths, but also their flaws. maybe someone’s village is too cluttered, or their defenses are weak, or their farms are in the wrong spots. you take mental notes: ‘okay, that’s not my vibe. i’m not gonna do that.’ this also brings me to the point that learn from other peoples mistake too. my friend right now is going through a very tough break up. and the guy is being a total asshole. and the more she talk about the relationship to me how it was, and we try to get the cues like “oh we could’ve realised back then when he said this particular thing” that he is not the one. (the fact he was a total sexist asshole) i realised that when i get into a relationship, and if i see my future boyfriend having these traits, i will leave. why? because I learnt from her mistakes of letting things slide, and not noticing the minor red flags that later became worse.
(back to the topic) then, you create an image of your ideal village in your head. you don’t copy anyone, but you take inspiration. you think, ‘this is my aesthetic, this is how i want my village to function.’ you make a mental note of all the details where the farms will go, where the population will live, how everything will flow. and then you start building, step by step, upgrading, improving, and making decisions based on the vision you created. now apply that same concept to your life. create an ideal version of yourself (alter ego) in your head. imagine your ideal life, your ideal personality, your dream self. think about who she is, how she thinks, how she acts, what her daily habits are. don’t just copy someone else’s life take inspiration. maybe you admire someone’s confidence but not their style, or their work ethic but not their priorities. fine. make mental notes and adjust it to fit your vibe. every time you make a decision or work to improve yourself (your current avatar), use that ideal version of yourself as a guide. ask yourself, ‘what would she do? how would she handle this? what choice aligns me closer to her?’ take inspiration from her and let her energy fuel every upgrade you make. step by step, you’ll start building a life that’s completely aligned with the vision you’ve dreamed of. for example in pubg. the end goal is to become a conqueror so what you do every single time when you play that game is make sure that you’re good with your teammates, you get the most kills, you win every single match, because that is what will bring you to your end goal.
the bars of life
1. health bar
health is the foundation, the core, the absolute main bar. without health, nothing else matters. it’s like playing a survival game if your health is low, you’re dead in the water, right? you can’t progress, you can’t fight, you can’t level up. every single step in your journey starts with taking care of your body and mind. health is everything. make sure you’re eating right, sleeping enough, working out, and keeping your mind in a positive, stable place. the healthier you are, the more you’ll be able to conquer in all aspects of life. keep this bar maxed out, or you won’t even have the energy to fight for your dreams.
2. physical bar
now, let’s talk about the physical bar. this is all about how your body looks and feels. how’s your physique? toned? fit? are you putting in the work to make sure your body is in shape, or are you letting it slide? it’s not just about the gym though—it’s about how you present yourself. do your clothes flatter your body type? are you dressing in a way that highlights your best features? are your nails done, your hair styled, your makeup light but on point? when you walk into a room, does your physical presence demand attention and admiration? this is about taking pride in your appearance and making sure your physicality aligns with the highest version of yourself. everything from your posture to the way you dress, this is how people will notice you. own it.
3. mental bar
the mental bar is all about your mindset, emotional health, and mental well-being. how do you show up in the world every day? what is your internal dialogue like? are you a powerhouse of positivity and productivity, or are you letting negative thoughts control you? this bar is about building a mindset that propels you forward, no matter what life throws at you. like i always say, every single brick life throws at me, i will build a castle out of it—or a shrine. i don’t care what happens, it’s all fuel for my fire. this is the mental toughness you need to develop to grow.
if you’re facing challenges—whether it’s dealing with stress, anxiety, or depression—take care of your mental health. if you need a therapist, get one. if journaling helps you unpack emotions and thoughts, make it a habit. every step you take to improve your mental health is a step toward leveling up your life. every time you choose a positive, productive mindset, you’re not just surviving—you’re thriving. strengthen this bar, and everything else in life becomes more manageable.
your mental bar is not just about surviving the chaos—it’s about learning to navigate it with grace, strength, and an unbreakable belief in your ability to create your dream life.
4. spiritual bar
the spiritual bar is your path to alignment with yourself and the universe. this is where you connect with your higher self, your energy, and your beliefs. spirituality isn’t just about religion—though it can be if that’s part of your journey. it’s about meditating, doing yoga (especially Kundalini, like i mentioned), and tuning into the deepest parts of yourself. when you start aligning your chakras and balancing your energies, you’re strengthening this bar. it’s about connecting to something greater than yourself—whether that’s through rituals, prayer, or mindfulness practices. this is the bar that ensures your spirit is nurtured, your energy is clean, and your soul is grounded. if you’re in tune with yourself and aligned with your truth, you can face anything the world throws at you.
5. financial bar
now, let’s talk about the financial bar. this is where you track your wealth, your earning capacity, and how financially empowered you are. how’s your financial situation? are you getting paid what you’re worth? are you bringing in new streams of income? every single time you land a promotion, secure a new deal, or create another source of income, this bar rises. even small wins matter—getting that side hustle going, saving a little extra this month, investing in yourself. all these things count. this bar is about actively working toward your financial freedom and success. if you’re serious about leveling up in life, this bar has to be taken seriously. wealth isn’t just about money—it’s about abundance in every area of your life. when you strengthen this bar, you give yourself the power to live the life you want
6. career bar
the career bar is all about progression, ambition, and success in your professional life. every time you take a step forward—whether it’s landing a promotion, launching a side hustle, or expanding your business—it’s a win for your career bar. it’s not just about the outcome, but about the process too. when you learn a new skill to level up in your field, or when you push yourself to take on more responsibility, this bar grows. every single action you take to further your career—no matter how small—contributes to building the empire you want. it’s about building something that lasts and ensuring that your career serves as the foundation for the life you envision.
7. social bar
the social bar is about how you connect and interact with others. it includes your relationships with family, friends, lovers, and colleagues, as well as your social media presence. every time you make a meaningful connection, whether it’s through a new friendship or strengthening bonds with existing relationships, your social bar grows. it also covers your social media footprint—every time you post something, earn followers, or engage with your audience, you’re building your social presence. the way you show up in the world, the vibe you put out, and how others perceive you are all part of this bar. what’s important is that you’re intentional about your social connections. it’s not just about quantity, but quality. how do you carry yourself? how do people feel around you? remember, you can always adjust the way you’re perceived by adjusting how you act. we’ll dive deeper into how you can shift your social presence to your advantage later on.
8. legacy bar
the legacy bar is about the impact you leave behind and how you’re remembered. while you might not need to focus on this too much at 17 (like me too), it’s still something that will guide your actions as you grow older. your legacy is like the final level of your life game—it’s the impression you leave on others, the tangible and intangible things you pass on to the next generation. think about it like this: your legacy could be how generous you were. maybe you donate to charities, help the less fortunate, or fund scholarships. maybe you leave behind a family with strong values, or set up a business that supports others and creates opportunities. or even, it’s the homes you buy and the wealth you build that your kids will inherit. that’s a form of legacy too—creating something that endures, that your children or loved ones can benefit from long after you’re gone.
you want to make sure you’re giving back—whether it’s in terms of charity, helping your community, or creating something that continues to benefit people beyond your time here. it’s about living with intention, creating something greater than yourself, and making sure that when people look back, they say, “wow, she did something good.” when I think of my legacy, I want to be known for making an impact on my country, helping its economy grow, and providing jobs. so, always think about the ripple effect your actions will have not just on yourself but on the world around you, long after you’re gone.
9. environmental bar
okay, so let’s talk about your environmental bar. this is pretty much everything around you: where you live, who you hang out with, and what you’re consuming—whether it’s people, media, or food. your environment shapes you more than you think. if you live in clutter, your brain gets cluttered. if you’re surrounded by negative energy or toxic people, guess what? that negativity starts rubbing off on you. toxicity? it’s contagious. trust me. this is why i always say: your environment is EVERYTHING. let’s say you’re stuck in a place where people are draining your energy, or your room looks like a hurricane hit it—what’s happening? your life starts feeling chaotic. but if you clean up your space, set boundaries with toxic people, and start surrounding yourself with supportive, positive vibes, you’ll see that your life follows suit. if you’re surrounded by success-driven people, guess what happens? you start moving differently too.
for example, i know my current living situation is toxic. but, once i move out, that’s going to be my environmental grace. i’ll finally have the space to thrive, away from negative energy. maybe for you, it’s as simple as clearing your workspace or unfollowing people on social media who bring you down. the key is that you’re actively creating a good environment for your growth. declutter, move people who don’t vibe with you, and make sure everything you interact with is aligned with your goals.
10. fun and recreation bar
listen, life isn’t just about hustling and grinding, okay? it’s also about having fun. and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. people always forget that joy and peace are important parts of growth. hobbies, fun experiences, and doing things that bring you relaxation and joy are just as vital as your career or health bar. sure, you might not make money from every hobby, but if it brings you peace or helps you unwind, then it’s worth it.
like me, i might not be making millions off of drawing, but damn, it’s relaxing. it’s something that i look back on and feel proud of. the point is, don’t skip out on fun. go out with friends, explore new things, travel, dance, create. don’t just work to live—live to enjoy it. make time for meaningful parties, exploring new places, or just learning something new for fun. trust me, it will make you feel whole. it’s the only life we’ve got, so might as well enjoy it. while also being productive (im sorry had to add this 😭)
11. intelligence bar
okay, this one should be obvious, but let me make it clear: your intelligence bar should always be leveling up. this is the bar for everything you do to expand your mind, whether it’s learning a new skill, reading a book, acing a test, or just getting smarter from life lessons. it’s not just about school or formal education; it’s about constantly seeking knowledge. every time you learn something new—whether it’s about physics, psychology, or how to make the best goddamn smoothie—your intelligence bar grows.
never stop learning. school isn’t the only place for growth. you’re an adult now—take control of your learning. buy books, watch educational videos, take courses that interest you, and dive into everything that can help you grow intellectually. intelligence doesn’t stop when you leave school, it grows with you, forever. always be leveling up your mind.

cheat codes in the game of life
read this blog by me first
life is full of cheat codes if you know where to look. one of the easiest ways to hack your life and manifest your desires is by using subliminals, grabovoi codes, eft tapping and even customizing your ChatGPT. these tools are like magic spells, designed to align your subconscious mind with your goals. for example, grabovoi codes are just numbers, but when you write and repeat them, they can bring about extraordinary shifts in your life. subliminals work and eft tapping the same way reprogramming your mind while you go about your day. and with ChatGPT, you have a personal assistant that can help you navigate any life situation, offering advice and insight whenever you need it. these are your personal life hacks use them to transform your reality with ease.
okay, let’s dive even deeper into these cheat codes, because once you start using them, you’ll realize how easy it is to shape the world around you. let’s talk about altering your social image—this is like an advanced life hack that many people, especially celebrities, are already using, but they’re not telling you how. you know how celebrities act on social media, right? that perfectly curated, almost “too good to be true” persona? the thing is, that’s not really them. most of them aren’t as perfect as they look in front of the camera, and they sure as hell don’t act the same behind the scenes. think about the people who might’ve bullied you in the past. they might have treated you like crap, but when they’re in front of others? angels. they put on this sweet, charming persona to get what they want. it’s all about duality—using different faces to your advantage. so why not do the same?
you can reinvent the way people see you. perception is everything. for example, let’s say you want to be perceived like a star, like an icon. one of the biggest secrets to this is creating a unique persona—something that screams you, but is captivating enough to make others want to be around you. think about how a lot of idols have such a distinctive style or energy. that is the cheat code. they don’t just wear the coolest clothes, they embody a vibe, an energy that makes them stand out in a crowd. so, how do you do it? first, know what you want. if you want to be that calm, collected, alluring figure who commands attention without even trying, start by adopting a few things that you know fit that style. if you want that dark, sultry energy, you need to own it—the way you talk, walk, dress, and even the way you hold yourself should exude confidence.
take someone like Dakota Johnson she has this quiet-chaotic energy about her, right? she speaks slowly, her words dripping with this almost sultry vibe. she doesn’t try too hard. it’s not about being overly energetic or trying to impress; it’s about confidence, calmness, and an air of mystery. she can make something as simple as a joke feel funny and seductive because of the way she says it. that’s the magic. it’s not about being loud or brash to get attention, it’s about learning how to carry yourself in a way that leaves people wanting more.
here’s the trick you don’t need to be a different person; you just need to refine your vibe. create a version of yourself that’s like an upgraded avatar. and then, simply start to live like them. how would your alter ego talk? would they speak with more authority? would they be more laid back, or would they be mysterious? do they have a sultry, slow tone when they speak? model yourself after that, and it’ll become second nature. this is where the pluto in aquarius energy comes in if you’re an aquarius (or have aquarius placements), this is your moment. you have the power to reinvent yourself in ways that you never thought possible. take this time to shift your self-perception and how the world perceives you. you can break out of old habits, behaviors, and expectations that others might have of you. this is your chance to become the best version of you, the version that’s unstoppable.
how do you get started?
1. talk like her: figure out how your alter ego would speak. take note of the cadence, the tone, and the vibe they exude. do they talk slower? more deliberately? maybe they joke with a certain confidence that makes everyone laugh, but also feel intrigued. learn to replicate that tone.
2. dress the part: style matters. you can’t be a fashion icon if you’re always dressing like a potato sack. find a style that feels unique to you, but also gives off that vibe you want—whether it’s sleek, bold, or soft. make sure your clothing complements the persona you want to show the world.
3. be unpredictable: people love mystery. don’t always let them in on everything. make them wonder about you. embrace the chaotic quietness—be the person who seems calm, but you always have something up your sleeve. keep them intrigued.
4. embrace the duality: you can be whoever you want to be. show one side to certain people, and another side to others. be strategic about how you present yourself in different scenarios. this is how you gain control of your social image.
5. confidence is key: once you start showing up as this new version of yourself, your confidence will shoot through the roof. people pick up on energy. if you believe in the persona you’re creating, others will too. and that’s how you start changing how people perceive you.
the beauty of this is, you’re not just faking it. you’re becoming it. you’re tapping into a version of yourself that’s always been there, just waiting for the right moment to step into the spotlight. the more you practice this, the more natural it becomes. “fake it till you make”
so, here’s the game plan: figure out your alter ego, start speaking like them, acting like them, dressing like them, and above all, own it. no one can compete with a version of you who’s fully aligned with your highest self. this is the cheat code to creating your dream life and stepping into the role you were always meant to play. use mindmovie, vision board, manifestation books to keep yourself aligned with your desires and goals
yeah, seriously, take this game of life really seriously. it’s not just about coasting through, it’s about making moves that align with your goals and dreams. your environment plays a huge part in that—where you live, who you’re around, and what opportunities are available. if you’re in a place that doesn’t nurture your dreams or support your growth, it might be time to think about moving. i’m in the same boat—i know the dreams i have won’t be fully supported where i’m at, so i’m already planning my next moves. but remember, everything is strategic. you have to play to win, baby girl. don’t settle for anything less than the life you deserve. make the changes, take the risks, and keep leveling up.
life’s like a game, and there are plenty of players trying to win, but how do you outsmart the competition? it’s not just about luck—yeah, that plays a part, but it’s also about skill, strategy, and having the right people around you. you can’t level up on your own, and just like in any game, teamwork makes all the difference. think of it this way: the kings and rulers in history didn’t get where they were alone; they knew how important it was to have the right team by their side. whether it’s friends, mentors, or business partners, you need good people who can support, challenge, and push you forward. surround yourself with those who elevate you, not drain you. build a strong, skilled, and loyal team because with the right crew, you’ll always be ahead of the game. just like the environment you choose—quality food, media, and surroundings—your team matters too.
notations
life is like a mix of different games, okay? think of it like the Sims where you have the ultimate free will. you can literally do whatever you want, and it’s up to you how far you take it. want to be a singer? start posting your singing videos everywhere—Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and even Twitter. manifest it, use subliminals, grabovoi codes, EFT tapping, and let ChatGPT help you figure out the algorithm and best ways to grow. life gives you all the tools, so use them to build your dream life.
but life isn’t just the Sims, it’s also like Chess. you have to be strategic about when and how you move. be nice but not naive, be a bitch sometimes too period. don’t throw out your best pieces too soon keep things lowkey and make others underestimate you. right now, I’m not the top student in my class, but I’m playing the long game. I’ll show people my pawns first—small, safe moves. later, when it’s the right time, I’ll pull out the knight or queen to checkmate the competition. keep people guessing. be mysterious. don’t tell anyone what you’re planning until it’s already in motion. keep your moves quiet, let them think you’re just playing small, and when the time comes—boom, you’ll show them exactly what you’re capable of.
this is where your team really comes into play. think of it like playing PUBG—if your team sucks, you suck. you can’t lead a squad full of lazy players and expect to win. it’s like trying to win a game while everyone else is just chilling. that’s why you have to be super selective with who you let into your inner circle. the people you’re building your success with need to be on the same level as you, otherwise, you’ll just drag each other down.
i’ve mentioned this before i literally asked a tarot reader to read the people around me, and she pointed out which friends weren’t good for me. guess what? those people turned out to be exactly as she said. so, don’t ignore your gut feelings. these are the people who will be there when you make it big, so make sure they’re the right ones. remember, in life, you don’t often get to choose your teammates, so be super careful who you let in. if you’re young, like 17 or 18, this is the time to build those lifelong friendships. trust me, pick wisely, because they’ll either help you level up or hold you back.
if i were to start a new life from today, this would have been the blog post that would have helped me reach that level. so, thank you so much for reading it through and through, and i hope you like it. also, i’m gonna pin this blog, and from now onwards, every single blog that you’ll see on my channel, on my account, will be somewhat similar to this. i’ll be using this blog as a centerpiece in future posts, building on it and referencing it. so stay tuned, because there’s a lot more to come, and this is just the beginning of the journey. and i’m gonna be doing all these again with you guys too. :)
also, happy 20 years of success as pluto returns to aquarius. love you guys.

Mindset shift #2: Plateaus are part of the process and key to the success of longterm weight loss.

Plateaus are not roadblocks—they’re milestones. They show that your body is adjusting to the progress you’ve made so far. Instead of seeing them as failures, view it as a reward for your hard work. As your body giving you a break so you can recharge and reevaluate.
Why Are Plateaus Important to Your Weight Loss Journey?
When you lose weight, your body needs time to recalibrate:
• Metabolism: Plateaus prevent metabolic adaptation, where your body slows down calorie-burning to preserve energy.
• Hormonal Balance: Hormones like leptin (which regulates hunger) and cortisol (stress hormone) stabilize during plateaus, reducing stress on your body.
• Muscle Preservation: Slower weight loss during plateaus gives your body a chance to retain muscle mass.
What to Do During a Plateau:
1) Don’t Rush to Make Changes: Give your body time to adjust to recent weight loss before altering your diet or exercise routine. Sometimes, patience is the key to moving forward.
2) Focus on Restorative Acts: Prioritize sleep management and stress management, as both play a critical role in weight loss. Poor sleep and chronic stress can disrupt hormones like cortisol, which can hinder progress.
3) Celebrate Non-Scale Victories: Progress isn’t just about the number on the scale. Look for improvements in strength, stamina, mood, energy levels, or how your clothes fit.
4) Reflect and Reassess:
Use this time to observe your journey without judgment. Ask yourself:
• What has been working so far?
• What feels difficult, and how can I make it easier or more sustainable?
• Have I become too restrictive or too lenient?
• Are my diet and exercise routines still aligned with my goals and needs?
Plateaus are a chance to adjust and refine your habits to better suit your lifestyle.
5) Consider Upcycling Calories:
Upcycling calories involves alternating higher and lower calorie days to prevent your metabolism from adapting too much. For instance:
• Increase your calorie intake slightly on one day with nutrient-dense foods like healthy fats or complex carbs.
• Return to your usual calorie range on the following days.
This strategy can help reset your metabolism and push past a plateau.
6) Reassess Your Workouts:
Once you feel ready to adjust, start by varying your exercise routine:
• Incorporate new movements or activities to challenge different muscle groups.
• Ensure your workouts include strength training, which boosts metabolism.
• Avoid overtraining—intense workouts with insufficient recovery can increase cortisol, working against your weight loss goals.
7) Review Your Diet: Plateaus are a good time to take a closer look at your eating habits with curiosity and without judgment. Ask yourself:
• Are you eating enough proteins and fibres to help you feel full and well nourished? Did you eat enough healthy fats to ensure proper satiety?
• Are you eating more calorie-dense foods than you realize, such as cooking oils, granola, nuts, nut butters, cheese, or avocado?
• Be careful of low calorie foods. These items are often ultra-processed with artificial sweeteners. Sugar substitute can negatively impact your gut microbiome and insuline response—paradoxically causing you to gain weight. Focus on fresh whole foods and bake your own little treats, even of they are higher in calories they will be more satisfying.
• Have recent stressors, celebrations, holidays, or vacations led to more indulgences than usual?
• Are you underestimating portion sizes or the amount of food you’re eating?
If you feel comfortable and it won’t negatively impact your mental health, consider tracking your food intake for a couple of weeks. Focus on accuracy by weighing your food rather than using cups or spoons, especially for non-liquid items. Be gentle and non-judgemental. The goal is to understand not punish.
If tracking feels too overwhelming, focus instead on visual portion control (e.g., smaller plates, filling half your plate with veggies, or limiting high-calorie extras like dressings).

The SS Great Eastern, launched in 1858, was a monumental achievement in 19th-century engineering, epitomizing the era's rapid technological advancements. Designed by the visionary Isambard Kingdom Brunel and built by John Scott Russell & Co. at the Millwall Iron Works on the River Thames, she was the largest ship ever constructed at the time, symbolizing human ambition and innovation.
The Great Eastern featured a revolutionary iron hull and a unique propulsion system that combined sails, paddle wheels, and a screw propeller. Designed to carry 4,000 passengers, she was built for long-distance voyages, including non-stop travel from England to Australia. Brunel's vision was to transform global transportation, making both passenger travel and trade faster and more efficient on an unprecedented scale.
Despite facing significant financial and technical challenges, the Great Eastern achieved lasting recognition for laying the first successful transatlantic telegraph cable in 1866, a milestone that revolutionized global communication. Though her early years were fraught with difficulties, her immense size and groundbreaking design influenced future shipbuilding and engineering. The SS Great Eastern stands as a testament to human ingenuity, determination, and the relentless pursuit of progress.

Alright, I guess this is my "yap about the Fall of the Mutants" post? This is my first major milestone completed while I'm running this blog so I'll ramble for a bit. This isn't really an event in the traditional sense, like, none of the X-titles actually cross over in meaningful ways other than a member of one book learning about the goings-on of another book via the news or something. So there isn't a grand narrative to comment on, the connecting thread is thematic, I guess. It's really just a glorified status quo change-up, which all events are in theory, but it doesn't actually really have the crossover element of the event which is kind of the selling point, so??? either way I'll talk about each book one at a time
(Uncanny X-Men #225-227)
May as well start with Uncanny. Shockingly, I don't have a ton to say. I think it was fine, but not amazing. Tbh I feel like Clairemont's writing falters a bit whenever he's writing about 'end of the world' type stuff on a cosmological scale. The Phoenix Saga is great, but beyond that when he does these 'end of the universe' things it's all very similar, like a mini-Phoenix Saga repackaged. He's in love with these sweeping concepts of the world being in balance, very New Age, and he gets sort of lost in it. I don't have a great way of articulating it, though, and I'll save some of my deeper thoughts on his writing for a big fat Clairemont era post once I finish his run. Some cool visuals anyway, and I'm glad that Storm has her powers back. We'll see where the 'world thinks the X-Men are dead' stuff goes, but I'm guessing it's not going to last very long.
(Power Pack #33)
X-Factor, also fine. Also not a ton to say. It was probably the weakest of the 3 overall, but not for lack of trying. I just find these early Apocalypse stories kind of dry? They aren't really saying much with his character, at least not yet. Not a fan of the 'dumb Beast' stuff either, no idea how long that last. I hope this leads to a power reset with him and getting his blue fur back, I really don't like looking at hairless Silver Age Beast. That being said, thank GOD X-Factor as Mutant Hunters era is over. Jfc what a bad concept. Simonson did her best to salvage it but you can physically feel her grating against the concept with every issue she writes. I feel so bad for her for inheriting Bob Layton's mess.
Oh I almost forgot; I hate Caliban in this?? Like, I really don't buy his turn to Apocalypse at all :( Probably the only part of this event that made me a bit irritated.
Every non-X-book tie-in was related to X-Factor, for some reason, also. It's really the only part of all of this that feels like a big event, but it's downplayed. Power Pack and Daredevil all the clear standouts. Really good. Pictured above, the Power Pack issue does a phenomenal job of selling the scale of it from a kids' perspective. Everything is on this incomprehensible scale and watching this giant rectangle of a spaceship knock into stuff in New York really sells how big of a threat Apocalypse is. And Daredevil is an on-the-street version of that, moreso focused on how New Yorkers react to this battle and think that the end of the world is here. It's a very human story and I really should read Nocenti's Daredevil run sometime, it seems pretty good.
The Fantastic Four tie-in was painfully average and the Captain America one was awful. Avoid them lol, they are very mired in their own continuity. Luckily I was familiar enough with the F4's history that I caught on quick, but they are in a VERY weird era here. No Reed or Sue, the Thing is in his pointy rock-skin era, She-Thing just got made, Doctor Doom has been ousted from Latveria... just madness. As for Cap, it's more comprehensible but it's just not very good. They're in the John Walker era and Steve has been forced out of the role (and is wearing USAgent's future costume), but he and Falcon and... *checks notes* Demolition Man a.k.a. D-Man and Nomad-but-not-the-Steve-Rogers-one,-the-Jack-Munroe-one (alright?) go and stop Famine from destroying a fuckton of crops in Nebraska or something and that's it, that's the whole tie-in. No mention of X-Factor iirc. Really weird book.
(New Mutants Vol. 1 #60)
And now, the New Mutants. Once again the BEST X-Family book. I'm a New Mutants girlie, I will stan them until my dying breath and that is THAT. I have so much to say. The book is great, Sunspot and Warlock are back, and the falling out with Magneto and the death of Doug actually sells the event!! It really feels like only they go through a status quo change worthy of the name 'The Fall of the Mutants'. It's a fairly average adventure for them to start with, and there's a bit too much fixation on a fairly uncompelling villain for my liking, but at the end of #60, a switch flicks. Doug dies in a really brutal, unceremonious way. He's just shot by the villain of the arc and that's it. He's dead.
(New Mutants Vol. 1 #60)
(New Mutants Vol. 1 #61)
I love. LOVE. Watching Illyana go demon mode on these guys. No notes. Please more of this before she's uh, out of commission until like 2007 lol.
(New Mutants Vol. 1 #61)
And then #61 is mourning. Everyone lashing out at each other and Magneto... being Magneto, ultimately pushes everyone away out of fear. I don't think my screenshots can capture it, it's really great stuff. (Also, that panel of Illyana crying about pretending to be a normal kid while sitting next to the body of her dead friend? Art.)
(Uncanny X-Men #227)
I almost forgot about this, but in Uncanny #227 we get a checkup with Kitty and Kurt, who are back! The sigh of relief I let out omg. I didn't even realize how much I missed them or how long it's been. Excalibur soon!!!!
Overall, it was alright! I'd say it's a step up from Mutant Massacre at least, which I thought was a bit all over the place. Events were a new concept back then though, and very clearly an editorial mandate, so I guess that's to be expected. I'd say read it if you're a Clairemont era fan or an event completionist, but otherwise, eh. Not terrible, not mindblowing.
Except for New Mutants. That was great. Did I turn my Fall of the Mutants post into a New Mutants shill post? Yes I did and I won't apologize

Effective Strategies to Crush Your Weight Loss Goals in 2025
Are you ready to make 2025 the year you finally achieve your weight loss goals? With so much information out there, finding the right strategies can be overwhelming.
This guide will simplify the process and provide you with actionable, science-backed tips to crush your weight loss journey this year.
1. Set Realistic and Specific Goals
The first step to achieving your weight loss goals is defining them clearly. Instead of vague resolutions like "lose weight," aim for specific and measurable targets, such as "lose 15 pounds in 3 months by exercising 4 times a week and eating 1,800 calories per day."
Why it works:
Helps you stay focused and track progress.
Encourages long-term lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes.
2. Prioritize a Balanced Diet Over Extreme Dieting
Fad diets may offer quick results, but they are rarely sustainable. Focus on a balanced diet that includes lean proteins, healthy fats, whole grains, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Limit processed foods and added sugars.
Pro Tip: Incorporate more plant-based meals, as studies show they can help with weight management and overall health.
3. Make Meal Prep a Weekly Habit
Meal prepping helps you control portion sizes and resist unhealthy choices when hunger strikes. Dedicate a few hours each week to prepare nutritious meals and snacks in advance.
Benefits of meal prep:
Saves time and money.
Keeps you consistent with your calorie and nutrient intake.
4. Stay Active with a Mix of Workouts
Exercise is key to burning calories and building muscle. Combine cardio workouts (like running or cycling) with strength training to maximize fat loss and boost metabolism.
2025 Fitness Trends to Try:
- High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).
- Online fitness classes for convenience.
- Group sports to keep workouts fun and engaging.
5. Track Your Progress
Using a journal or app to monitor your food intake, workouts, and weight loss progress can help you stay accountable. Apps like MyFitnessPal or Fitbit offer tools to track calories and exercise effortlessly.
Pro Tip: Celebrate small milestones to stay motivated, whether it's fitting into an old pair of jeans or reaching a fitness goal.
6. Focus on Sleep and Stress Management
Poor sleep and high stress levels can hinder weight loss by increasing hunger hormones like ghrelin. Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep per night and practice stress-reducing techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing.
7. Stay Hydrated
Drinking water not only keeps you hydrated but also helps with appetite control and metabolism. Replace sugary drinks with water, herbal teas, or infused water for variety.
Quick Tip: Drink a glass of water before meals to avoid overeating.
8. Build a Support System
Having friends, family, or online communities supporting your weight loss journey can make a huge difference. Share your goals and progress, and don’t hesitate to seek professional guidance from dietitians or personal trainers if needed.
9. Be Patient and Consistent
Weight loss is a journey, not a sprint. Plateaus are normal, and progress may vary. Focus on consistency and celebrate non-scale victories, like improved energy levels or better mood.
10. Leverage Technology and Tools
Use wearable fitness trackers, calorie counters, and AI-powered apps to personalize and optimize your weight loss journey. These tools can provide insights into your habits and suggest improvements.
Conclusion
Achieving your weight loss goals in 2025 doesn’t have to be daunting. By setting realistic goals, maintaining a balanced diet, staying active, and using the right tools, you can stay on track and see lasting results. Remember, consistency and patience are key.
Start implementing these strategies today, and watch yourself crush your weight loss goals this year!

9/22 - 9/29/2024
Aaaaand several months later, Renji 11 is complete (again).
Which brings me to a couple additional milestones:
1) I finished a full draft of my banner!
My idea here is that each chapter would get some little icon that relates to something about the chapter, as well as the narrating POV's division flower. I'm trying to decide whether it matters if the item is, uh, legible. That's supposed to be a baggie of manju but they kind of look like tomatoes. Is it weird that the two images are totally different line weights? And even if it is, do I trust myself to draw 20 different glyphs with the same line weight?? The stamp effect/weathering could probably be more intentional--for now I quickly took a dry media brush to a Layer Mask to see if it could effect what I wanted. It's because I am bothered by the vector-smoothness of the weathering in the font itself when the text is that large.
Apparently I did the low-res mockup for this on December 14, 2023, so at least it's been less than a year?! It also means that I've continued to like this design, even after 10 months. (Here's the partial V2 I didn't move forward with.)
2) It's my first time in the six-figure club! Which is impressive to me, because I don't generally consider myself a longfic person, and I've never written a singular fic of this scale before, for any fandom.
At this point, this project is causing me a lot of cognitive dissonance, ngl. Because this fic represents the majority of my Bleach fandom experience (I've been working on it since 2021, and it's the sequel to my first two Bleach fics, which I wrote before we made this blog). In my mind, it basically IS my Bleach identity. But it's not meaningfully reflected in this blog, which is... well, it's us? B3 IS our Bleach identity? Not that our original posts are what the majority of people follow this blog for, but still. What an identity crisis!
The obvious solution is to post it, and I do feel like I've moved on emotionally enough from Part 1 that I could probably survive that! But I also kind of feel like, don't I already have plenty of things to survive right now? 🫠
--
I'm undecided on what I want to tackle next. I'd like to finish my revision round for Rukia 7 / Rukia 10 / Renji 11, but that's the kind of thing that requires more unbroken time, and that does not really work with my current "oh god 10 minutes, GO" state of being. So I feel like if I want to try that, I also need an additional place where all I need to do is drop in and write lines. They can't be in Hitsugaya 12, though, because I've written as much of that as I can without knowing how the Hisagi 9 revisions pan out.
I have distinct memories of having very pleasant daydreams about how those revisions should go (very specifically on US 127, in weather non-conducive to daydreaming), but I looked over those scenes last night and HAHAHA. I HOPE I WROTE NOTES FOR THOSE DAYDREAMS because while I do remember writing them as written, I do not have any distinct memories about how they needed to be changed, rip

Something that mod packs like better than wolves or games like vintage story don't seem to understand is that suffering in video games is fine, but there needs to be SOME kind of pay off to getting through the suffering.
Progression is an important part of survival/open world games, there needs to be some level of "you've passed B milestone so now the A tasks are considerably easier but you've also unlocked C tasks which match A tasks original difficulty but allow you to work towards D milestone which unlocks E tasks etc etc etc"
Minecraft does an ok enough job of this even though BTWtards will pretend otherwise for reddit updoots. But, as can be said about any topic around video games, factorio does it best. Start off hand crafting, move to hand feeding, then basic automation, oil processing, alternative power sources, logic circuits, trains, scaling up, beacons and modules, robots, artillery, spidertrons.
Each of these paths are not only unlocked through the overall progression but are made easier by embracing the other paths. Scaling up is easier once you start using bots, trains or move to nuclear power. Which are all easier once you embrace advanced oil processing. Beacons and modules can make pretty much anything easier but require sizable automation to use at bigger scales. Robots are such a huge milestone they essentially divide the game into pre and post bot but you can also go the entire game without crafting a single one.
At the start of the game realizing you need another belt of iron plates when your current iron latch can't support another belt is a big task. You need to locate a new patch, manually take out the biters with a tank or turrent creep. Manually build a new mining post on the ore patch, bring all the ore back somehow (trains or belts, which both bring their own time to build). And then you need to actually smelt the iron which means a building a new furnace stack by hand which means either more power drain or more load on your coal patch which it might not be able to support which starts this whole process over again.
By the end or even late game it's a whole new scenario, noticing you need a new belt of iron is never more than three blueprints and a spidertron away from a solution. You can have everything building and running in the background while you work on more stuff that takes more thought than basic copy and pasting. By the end game you spend more time designing than actively building.
Minecraft does ok at this even though some milestones are laughibly easy. Making a mob farm makes collecting stuff like gunpowder easy. Making an iron farm makes building anything big that uses hoppers actually viable. Villager trading halls turn good enchantments into something you can work toward rather than rolling the dice at the enchantment table 400 times.
Trash like better than wolves fails at this. You will be scrounging and toiling away for food every single in game day until you beat it, there's never a point in progression where some core part of the game becomes a non-issue, if you're lucky it just gets 0.5% easier. What once was a task you had to sit and hold right click for five minutes while holding an item can now be accomplished by right clicking a block once and waiting four minutes. Whoop dee fucking doo.

Tomiko Itooka: The World’s Oldest Person at 116 Age
Tomiko Itooka, a 116-year-old Japanese woman has been officially recognized as the world's oldest living person following the passing of 117-year-old Maria Branyas Morera. https://twitter.com/PopCrave/status/1825979850886086722

This was the same year that the Eiffel Tower transmitted its first radio message and when the Wright Brothers made their public flights in Europe and America. Raised in Osaka, Itooka grew up alongside her siblings and attended both elementary and high school in the city. At the age of 20, she married and eventually had four children. Tomiko Itooka worked as a manager in her husband’s textile factory, which was located in South Korea during World War II. This role would have required responsibility during such a period. Tomiko Itooka’s husband passed away in 1979. During World War II, Tomiko managed the office of her husband’s textile factory. This responsibility showcased her ability to go through one of the challenging periods in modern history. The war had effects on her and her family, but her resilience helped them to recover in the post-war era. Tomiko’s love for physical activities, particularly mountain climbing is one of the extraordinary aspects of her life. She scaled Japan’s 3,067-meter Mount Ontake twice. She climbed the mountain in sneakers instead of hiking boots. Even into her 70s, Tomiko continued her passion for climbing. Her dedication to staying active extended beyond mountain climbing, she completed the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage twice in her 80s. This involves visiting 33 Buddhist temples across the Kansai region. At 100 years old, Tomiko Itooka continued to defy expectations by walking up the lengthy stone steps of Ashiya Shrine without the aid of a cane. This ability to remain physically active at such an advanced age is considered one of the factors contributing to her longevity. Tomiko Itooka’s extraordinary life gained international recognition when she was named the world’s oldest living person at the age of 116. This title came following the death of Spain’s Maria Branyas Morera, who passed away at the age of 117. The Gerontology Research Group known for validating the ages of supercentenarians confirmed her birthdate and age, placing her at the top of their World Supercentenarian Rankings List. https://twitter.com/ThePopFlop/status/1825869923064619506 Also Read: The Hidden Dangers of Stealthy Saturated Fats and Sugars Since 2019 Tomiko Itooka has resided in a nursing home in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture. Despite her advanced age she remains mentally sharp and communicates clearly, though she has become hard of hearing. Every morning, Tomiko Itooka starts her day with a popular yogurt-flavored drink called Calpis. Her favorite food is bananas, which she enjoys regularly. This simple diet combined with her active lifestyle may have contributed to her longevity. Tomiko Itooka celebrated her 116th birthday three months before being recognized as the world’s oldest person. The celebration included receiving flowers, a cake and a card from the city’s mayor. At the age of 100, Itooka demonstrated her enduring physical strength and independence by walking up the lengthy stone steps of the Ashiya Shrine without the aid of a walking stick. This feat underscores her physical vitality and determination to remain active well into her centenarian years. Itooka reached the milestone age of 110 in May 2018 she earned the title of supercentenarian. The Gerontology Research Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to researching human longevity. Following the death of Maria Branyas Morera at the age of 117, Tomiko Itooka has been officially declared the world’s oldest living person by Guinness World Records. While Tomiko Itooka is the current oldest living person, she joins a list of supercentenarians who have been recognized by Guinness World Records. The previous titleholder, Maria Branyas Morera lived through the 1918 flu pandemic, two world wars and the Spanish Civil War. The oldest verified person in history, Jeanne Louise Calment of France lived to be 122 years and 164 days old, passing away in 1997. https://twitter.com/shanghaidaily/status/1826074107492127115 Also Read: Cholera Outbreak in Sudan has Killed At Least 22 People

I just hit a major milestone: 200 lbs down. In 13 1/2 months.
I’m honestly just…crying with relief and joy and pride and so much love for myself and this journey I decided to take. 🥹🥹
At the beginning of this year, I set a series of goals for myself. Some were weight-related, some were non-scale victories I wanted to achieve. This particular milestone, based on what I was predicting my rate of continued weight loss would look like, I had put as wanting to hit by my birthday, in September. It’s exactly 3 months from my birthday today, and I’m already here.
And this puts me only 10 lbs from the lowest (recorded) weight I got to during my first weight loss attempt in 2018. So soon, I will be in completely uncharted territory with my lowest weight as an adult, and I’m so freaking excited.
I’m going to Disney this weekend to celebrate. Just got a brand new annual pass, so this trip will mark my triumphant return to my happy place that I haven’t been to since 2019. And honestly, that last trip was anything but happy for me due to some unrelated bullshit happening in my personal life at the same time, so I’m very much looking forward to reclaiming my joy and making it magical for me again. I’m gonna get a celebration button, take allllllll the professional photos, ride the new rides that have opened since I was last there…basically I’m gonna celebrate my face off because I FREAKING LOST 200 POUNDS AND I DAMN WELL DESERVE IT!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

❤️ - This is so hard. A few options b/c I can't choose!
from castles crumbling chapter 2
I want to scream, but I can’t get the air into my lungs. This isn’t fair. If Malek had to take anyone, he should have taken me. Not this innocent child. Not these people celebrating their gods. Me. A murderer. Someone who so long ago lost my humanity that I barely even remember what it felt like to be human.
This line from the present, the past, and you in between:
The war was long, but my life with her has been longer. I used to say that I've lived on borrowed time, and I accepted that my life was destined to be short. Then I began to pray to Malek, begging to borrow more, all to spend with her.
Combined with this line:
I begged Malek for more time, and he gave me too much.
From Did Someone Say Shots?:
Instead, I slept with her when I knew how horrible of an idea it was, and it fucking destroyed me when, in the morning light, she called it a mistake. Look at me, dealing with the consequences of my own actions.
Last but definitely not least, from chapter 6 of castles crumbling:
I laid my old self to rest a long time ago, but he is still there at the wake, trying to make sense of her demise.
🎁 - a lil blurb from an unpublished one shot, if it pleases the court :)
Then Xaden walks into the conference room. He has the kind of presence that makes people shut up and pay attention, and I hate him for it. The chatter that permeated the air dies away instantly, replaced by the silence of worshippers waiting for words from their god on high. I guess Xaden fulfills that role here. Those golden eyes of his find me almost immediately, and I school my expression into a glare. I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. That's the message I want him to receive. Instead, he only smirks, and then turns to retrieve a folder from Bodhi, who followed him in. Xaden takes a seat at the head of the long table, sitting as casually as one would in their own living room. He props his elbows on the table, the movement causing the muscles of his arms to bulge under the rolled up sleeves of his black button up shirt. I hate that he looks that good without even trying. I hate that I know what he looks like under that shirt even more. As if sensing that I was thinking about him, about That Night, he meets my eyes again, and his grin this time is downright filthy. "Shall we begin?" he asks. "Sorrengail, you're up. Tell us how you plan to save our asses, and try to make it quick." Oh, fuck him. I plaster on my most fake smile, and stand. Liam gives me a look from where he stands, that basically says Don't do something you'll regret. Luckily for me, I've about expended my regret reserves when it comes to Xaden Riorson. If he wants to be an ass, then fine. I'll be an ass in return. He needs me a whole lot more than I need him.
👻 - IDK if it's a headcanon, but I like to think Xaden sometimes needs assurances that she's not going to leave and that she loves him because he doesn't think he's worthy of her. Not in like, a toxic way, or in the "I need to know you'll be there" way that he brought up in IF, but more every day, like "Hey I'm feeling x right now, and need to hear that my brain is creating scenarios that aren't real." IDK if I'm making any sense.

Rewarding XP for Exploration
Following from that Megadungeon discussion I watched yesterday, I’m just thinking about how you would go about awarding XP primarily for exploration within D&D 5e.
Combat XP is easy because you’ve a nice simple number from the monster stat block to divide among the party, but the game doesn’t provide quick reference numbers for non-combat XP. Instead, what you get is the following advice:
“NONCOMBAT CHALLENGES. You decide whether to award experience to characters for overcoming challenges outside combat. If the adventurers complete a tense negotiation with a baron, forge a trade agreement with a clan of surly dwarves, or successfully navigate the Chasm of Doom, you might decide that they deserve an XP reward. As a starting point, use the rules for building combat encounters in chapter 3 to gauge the difficulty of the challenge. Then award the characters XP as if it had been a combat encounter of the same difficulty, but only if the encounter involved a meaningful risk of failure.” (DMG 2014)
“NONCOMBAT CHALLENGES. You decide whether to award XP to characters for overcoming challenges outside combat. If the adventurers complete a tense negotiation with a baron, forge a trade agreement with a guild of surly smiths, or safely navigate the Chasm of Doom, you might decide the characters deserve XP. As a starting point, use the rules for building combat encounters in chapter 4 to gauge the difficulty of the challenge. Then award the characters XP as if it had been a combat encounter of the same difficulty.” (DMG 2024)
So going over to the encounter building advice, essentially you take the party’s (or possible hazard’s) level, you decide whether the challenge was low/moderate/high difficulty (OR easy/medium/hard/deadly in 2014), and you get a number of XP for the challenge based on that. In some senses for non-combat challenges this is easier, as for combat you’ve got to multiply that number by the number of players to get a budget for monster XP, as it’ll have to be divided among them at the end, while for non-combat you can just take that number as the amount of XP awarded to each player after successfully completing the challenge. And hey, at least we have that table to give ballpark amounts.
[Sidebar: Or you can go milestone, but some of his points from that discussion do make sense to me in that regard: you want to have fixed areas of deadliness within the dungeon so that the party can choose when/if they want to try more dangerous levels, not level the various areas of the dungeon to the level of the party when they arrive. The general rule being: the deeper, the deadlier (and weirder). So if a party finds a secret shaft down to level 5 from level 2 and wants to try their hand, they can, and get pasted off a wall (or not!) for it if they want. More challenge = more reward, so you scale the magic items and other rewards to the area of the dungeon as well. I do like this idea. So you probably do want to be running some form of XP system as opposed to the more generalised milestone system, so that you’re directly rewarding them for the challenges they’ve chosen to take on, rather than selecting challenges for them based on your decision of what they can survive]
If we wanted to incentivise exploration above everything else, we do want a good firm structure for exploration XP, and we want to reduce the focus on combat XP. So a party has to get at least as much XP from exploring as they would from combat.
Now, combat XP isn’t necessarily awarded for purely killing a monster either. “When adventurers overcome one or more monsters—typically by killing, routing, capturing, or cleverly avoiding them—they divide the total XP value of the monsters evenly among themselves.” (DMG 2024, emphasis mine). Vs DMG 2014: “When adventurers defeat one or more monsters-typically by killing, routing, or capturing them-they divide the total XP value of the monsters evenly among themselves.” Which leaves out the avoiding them option. So if we use the 2024 rules, we already have a precedent for a party getting just as much XP for managing to sneak past a monster as for killing it. So you fully can have monsters as obstacles to exploration, and give the party full XP for either killing OR going around said monsters. I would add an option to negotiate as well, for equal XP.
The main problem, if you want to make exploration (and/or social) gameplay the focus of your adventure/campaign/megadungeon, is that they don’t give real examples of what to award said XP for. Well. We have the glanced examples of completing a tense negotiation, forging a trade agreement, and navigating a chasm. Which, to be fair, I could interpret all of those as exploration elements, if you choose to negotiate your way past local inhabitants instead of killing your way past them, and if you want to make trade agreements along the way for logistical reasons to enable further exploration. So basically, if you want to have an exploration-focused campaign, what you need to do is nail down a list of actions on the part of the party that you consider exploration actions, and that will earn them XP based on that table in the Building Encounters section of the DMG. (Based on the party’s level or the level of the area of the dungeon, mind you, is a further consideration, but let’s leave that until later).
Basically, if you were running a megadungeon campaign, what activities would you consider appropriate to earn XP, and how much, and are there enough of them that it would at least equal the amount of XP earned from monsters? (Although, if we’re using the ‘also avoid or negotiate’ rules for monsters, that should handle itself, you’ve already de-emphasised combat as the only option, you just have to make that clear to the players).
So. A couple of thoughts for actions that could earn XP in an exploration campaign:
Preparation Stage
Learning/seeking out information on an area to explore (the dungeon, access to new levels, etc).
Choosing to seek out and enter unexplored territory (a new area/level/region), because I do think it might be worth rewarding the decision to go exploring.
Making adequate preparations for exploration (supplies, guides, contacts).
Scouting to locate an entrance to said area.
Discovering/creating items (keys, magic items, boats) or spells (and yes, I fully do mean granting XP to the whole party if someone chooses to take water breathing or spider climb or fly, they went out of their way to gain a tool, they can be rewarded for it) that enable access to previously inaccessible areas.
Main Exploration Stage
Entering a new room/area/region/level. This one is going to be the bread-and-butter in a lot of ways, so judge how often you give it, it probably doesn’t have to be room-by-room (though it could be), but definitely give good XP for entering a new level or themed area of a level. And there is then a question of if simply going down there (descending the stairs to the level, opening the door to the room) is enough, or if they do have at least fully enter and contend with an initial element of the area before retreating to earn the XP. But I think taking the chance on going there and at least evaluating their chances of survival should be enough, if they nope out early it’s fine, so long as they only get the XP for going into any area once and once only.
Negotiating obstacles (traps, hazards, monsters).
Discovering information about the area (solving puzzles, investigating, uncovering lore, talking with locals).
Discovering alternate routes and secret areas.
Negotiating passage through an area (though this arguably falls under ‘negotiating obstacles’).
Making safe areas within the dungeon to enable resting (choosing good locations, barricading rooms, use of spells like Alarm or Tiny Hut or Rope Trick).
Gaining supplies from within the area (finding and taking equipment from previous adventurers, acquiring supplies from creatures within the area, finding and using water sources and checking if they’re safe, etc).
Discovering treasure within the area.
Having An Effect on the Area/Dungeon
Permanently destroying/disabling/otherwise making safe traps and other hazards.
Making alliances with a native faction or creature in the area.
Playing multiple factions against each other to gain access to new areas.
Aiding a faction in the area to victory and/or destroying a faction in the area.
Negotiating things like passage and alliance not just for yourselves but for others who come after you (making a deal with a dwarven clan to allow traders/adventurers from your city to pass through their section of the dungeon, for example).
Mapping the area as you go (if someone has or chose to acquire proficiency with cartographers tools, that could be rewarded), as well as leaving copies of said maps in strategic locations so that others could benefit from them. Alternatively, compiling disparate maps you might have discovered en route into a more complete picture of the area.
Setting up permanent safe zones and base camps by whatever means (agreements, traps, spells like Hallow, Forbiddance etc).
Setting up, or arranging to have set up, permanent accessibility points (arranging guides along river routes, setting up teleportation circles, etc).
Causing a permanent change to the layout of the dungeon (flooding a level, permanently filling a chasm, digging a new passage through an area, etc).
This is off the top of my head here, there are obviously other things, and some of these might not suit depending on the play styles of your party. But generally, you want to give XP for things the party does that involve them exploring new areas, making preparations to explore areas, gaining access to hidden or blocked areas, interacting with the challenges and inhabitants of the area, and setting up systems or access points for either themselves or others to continue to access the area later.
The next step is to decide how much XP they get for each action. You don’t want to give too much and catapult their character up in levels, so if we’re going to consistently be giving XP for exploration challenges as well as XP for combat, we probably want to … maybe halve the numbers for everything? Including the monsters. If they have multiple consistent sources of XP, we’ve got to tone down how much they get for any single action. I have no idea if those numbers will work, but it’d probably be worth the try, and could be tweaked from there.
So if we take that table, halve everything on it (as well as halve the XP granted on every creature stat block), and then start judging the difficulty of our tasks.
And I do think this should be based on the level of the obstacle more than the level of the party. This works automatically with monsters, a CR 7 monster is still CR 7 regardless of the level of the party going against it. The encounter building table is just for you to gauge what CR to send against what level, but if we’re setting up areas of various difficulty in our dungeon/campaign, we’d have been ignoring that part of it anyway. (This does make the numbers funny, as a CR 7 monster, for our purposes, would be a moderate level 5 challenge or a low level 7 challenge, once we’ve divided it by the number of party members (I used 4). Sidenote, the 2024 DMG gutted the ‘making a monster’ section? The handy table with the expected XP per CR of creature is gone. But you can still get it in the 2014 DMG).
So, as per the original advice, when it comes to concrete things like overcoming obstacles like traps or hazards, you give the hazard a level and a difficulty, like you would a monster. The difference is that you’re not doing that based on the current level of the party, but on the level you would expect a party to have to be to solve it (or possibly the level and HP the party would have to be to survive it, in the case of some more lethal hazards?). So, maybe a flooded area of a dungeon might be level 5, as it would take a level 5 party of have access to the water breathing spell. Or if an area is controlled by a certain CR level boss monster, you’d give the area in general the monster’s level. And once you have a level for the area around the obstacle, you give the obstacle itself a difficulty of low, moderate or high, and give XP accordingly.
That works for concrete obstacles, but not as much for things like exploration bonuses for reaching new areas, or more ephemeral things like mapping an area, or setting up waystations, or negotiating treaties. Particularly the ‘entering somewhere new’ action. For the first … I think entering a new area should give you the low difficulty reward for an obstacle of that level? So just entering and evaluating a level 5 area will give you 250 XP (keeping in mind that we’re halving all the values). If the area is a lot higher level than you were previously on, say you managed to find a path from a level 2 area straight to a level 5 area and decided to risk it for a biscuit and go down there, then you might get the moderate difficulty or even high difficulty XP reward (550 XP (high) might be a bit much just for going down there, but 375 XP (moderate) for chancing your arm might be reasonable). And other actions … you probably want to stay at the low difficulty for most more minor actions, like setting up camps or gaining supplies or mapping the area, and go for higher difficulty on more far-reaching actions like interacting with factions or changing layouts.
This is all just spitballing, though. And it definitely does make me realise how difficult D&D 5e makes supporting anything that isn’t combat, just in terms of … there’s no numbers. There’s no easy reference. You have to make it all up yourself from basically scratch just to try to let players advance their characters from anything other than bloodshed. Which. 5e has so many tools for characters to use to explore, they just don’t get any reward for it. The amount of work a DM would have to do to get even a skeleton structure for alternate sources of XP is. Well. *gestures back up the page* This is definitely where the lack of support for non-combat options shows in this game. You know how much XP you get for killing any particular monster, but there’s no handy list for what you get if you go where few have ever successfully gone. Negotiating a treaty that stops a war should have equal XP to killing a dragon, and reaching a sanctum that none save a high mage have ever reached should have equal XP to fighting said high mage, and maybe you’d think that’d just be common sense, but there’s no numbers, no quick reference so someone can make that instantly possible as a reward. You have to laboriously go through and assign numbers yourself by trial and error.
But. If anyone did want to make the effort to reward the other pillars of play, exploration and social interaction … It might be doable? Even nailing down a list of actions and some ballpark figures for XP to go with them might do a lot.
Other things to consider in that regard: don’t make treasure only available in monster lairs, where killing the monster is the only way to get it. Put treasures in hidden areas, or across difficult hazards, or as rewards to be won for negotiating with or performing tasks for factions in the area. If your party wants to use other tools, make sure they can get equal rewards for it. A party who took water breathing to explore a flooded section of the dungeon should get as much XP and cool treasure as a party that decided to kill the young dragon lairing on level 5.
But. This has been an interesting exercise? And definitely an illuminating one.

Avoiding scope creep: How to precisely define project scope and objectives
In modern enterprise project management, scope creep is a challenge that cannot be ignored. Whether dealing with small projects or large-scale enterprise initiatives, scope creep often affects timelines, budgets, and quality. Defining the scope and objectives of a project accurately is a critical issue that project managers must address during the initiation phase. This article explores the root causes of scope creep and provides solutions, using the 8Manage PM project management tool as a reference, to help project managers effectively prevent scope creep and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
What is Scope Creep?
Scope creep refers to uncontrolled changes or continuous expansion of a project’s scope during its execution. These changes often bypass formal evaluation, approval, and resource allocation processes, which can adversely impact project goals, budgets, timelines, and quality standards. Common manifestations of scope creep include frequent requirement changes, task additions, and unclear objectives.
In project management, scope creep is not just a “change in requirements” problem; it often leads to deeper management challenges. For instance, project teams may lack the resources to accommodate changes, or the project’s original intent may deviate due to the new requirements, ultimately leading to ambiguous goals and unmet expectations.
Major Causes of Scope Creep
To prevent scope creep, it is crucial to understand its common causes. These include:
1.Unclear Project Scope
Scope creep often occurs when the project scope is not well-defined during the initiation phase. Poor communication between project managers and stakeholders can result in unclear goals and expectations, leading to unnecessary changes during project execution.
2.Inadequate Requirement Analysis
Thorough requirement analysis is essential in project management. If requirements are not fully investigated or understood, ambiguities or omissions may arise, causing the project scope to expand due to later additions.
3.Frequent Stakeholder Interventions
Frequent requests for new requirements or modifications by stakeholders (clients, team members, suppliers, etc.) can also lead to scope creep if project managers fail to control or assess the impact of these changes effectively.
4.Lack of Change Management Processes
Without an effective change management process, project scope can spiral out of control. A robust process helps assess the feasibility, cost, and impact of changes to ensure they align with project objectives.
5.Time Pressure and Team Capacity
Sometimes, under tight deadlines or heavy workloads, teams may concede to unnecessary requirements to meet delivery schedules, causing deviations from the original project goals.
How to Precisely Define Project Scope and Objectives
To avoid scope creep, project managers must plan thoroughly during the initiation phase and maintain strict scope control throughout the project lifecycle. Key measures include:
1.Clearly Define Project Objectives and Scope
Collaborate with stakeholders to establish clear, measurable objectives and define the project scope comprehensively. Using tools like 8Manage PM, project managers can document and communicate objectives effectively, ensuring consistency among team members.
2.Develop Detailed Requirement Documents
Compile detailed requirement documents that include functional and non-functional requirements, timelines, and resource needs. Use platforms like 8Manage PM to track and approve all requirement changes systematically.
3.Establish Change Control Processes
Implement strict change control processes to evaluate the impact of every modification. Tools like 8Manage PM provide automated workflows to manage and approve changes, preventing unauthorized scope expansion.
4.Deliver and Assess in Phases
Divide projects into phases with specific deliverables for each stage. Use milestone reviews to identify potential issues early and prevent scope expansion.
5.Strengthen Communication and Stakeholder Management
Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, scope, and progress. Tools like 8Manage PM offer collaborative features to promote transparency and reduce misunderstandings.
6.Manage Team Expectations
Align team expectations with project goals, avoiding deviations caused by overambitious or irrelevant ideas. Assign tasks clearly to ensure focus.
7.Monitor and Control Project Progress
Use project management tools to monitor progress and detect any deviations. Regular reviews can help identify signs of scope creep early.
Strategies to Mitigate Scope Creep Risks
1.Risk Identification and Assessment: Identify potential risks of scope creep during project initiation and prepare mitigation strategies. 2.Communication and Negotiation: Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to avoid frequent changes. 3.Training and Guidance: Educate the project team on scope management practices to prevent unnecessary additions.
Conclusion
Scope creep is a significant challenge in project execution that, if uncontrolled, can lead to budget overruns, delays, and unmet objectives. Project managers can mitigate this risk by defining clear goals, conducting thorough analyses, implementing effective change management processes, and leveraging tools like 8Manage PM to ensure project objectives remain on track.
By integrating intelligent project management tools and sound methodologies, project managers can achieve project success while minimizing the risks of scope creep.

What do you expect us to get from this jealous buck? Does it lead to anything since it is an important episode for the show?
OH, I hope so. I hope it leads to some forward progress for Buck.
I have a million theories. I could see Buck probably accidentally injuring Eddie on the basketball court because he is jealous that Eddie is spending more time with Tommy. Chimney might pick up on that, and Maddie and Chimney might help Buck get to the heart of what that may mean.
I'm REALLY excited for that Buck, Maddie, and Chimney scene.
A friend and I have been discussing theories basically non-stop. And I could see Eddie saying something like, "No matter who I hang out with, including Tommy, you're my brother, Buck." But I hope that's not how it plays out. Or if it does, I'd be curious to see if that's another sign that helps Buck be like, "Hm, maybe I do feel something more for my best friend than just jealousy that he made another male friend he's spending time with who is not me."
On a broader scale, I'm also curious to see how this storyline (and the other ones in the episode) does or doesn't commemorate the milestone of 100 episodes. That kind of feat does not happen every day on TV, especially in its current landscape.
So, even without the possibility of Buck and Eddie actually being on their way to becoming something more, I'm excited to see how this episode celebrates 9-1-1.
But, really, I could write about what I want to happen in this episode.
