1. How to NOT steal stuff!

Any work with the tag “Free to use” (also known as “F2U”) means that they are allowed to be reposted, used in collages, edits etc. Just check if credits are needed!

*Important addition (that I can’t believe I had to add):

* “Why does this matter?” “Can’t you just ask where they got it from?”

It’s a question of politeness and fairness, yes, someone can ask where that piece is from but it’s not a guaranteed answer, people can lie and people can forget!

Also, people might see it and take it at face value, think the post belongs to that person when it doesn’t

Adding to that, there’s folks that do not want their work reposted for many reasons!

To top it off, heres the issue of the original creators not getting the attention they deserve, imagine that you spent hours on a piece just for it to be stolen and that post getting more attention then your own original post, that one you worked hours for it to, to be just the way you wanted it to be, that would upset you wouldn’t it?

Overall, crediting and asking to repost is just the polite thing to do

For Artworks:

Your first need to check if the artist allows reposting of their work or the use of them for collages, if they allow, then you link to their original post and state who drew the pics of art

For GIF’s + non-product photos:

Credit to the original post! Or at least as far back as you can find it!

Usually photos of products such as toys, plushies, accessories etc made by big brands are easy to spot and know where they came from (ex: blogs that post PNG’s usually don’t need to credit all their sources), but, small business/hand crafted works should always be credited!

Reposting moodboards:

Similar to artworks, first ask permission to repost, if allowed link to the original creator!

Then don’t do it! Even with credits! Don’t do it! Is as simple as that! Respect others right to say no!

2. How do I identify stolen work?

There are many giveaways of stolen posts, such as:

• Low photo quality

• Watermarks that don’t match

• Lack of information about what was made (for who it was etc)

• Unable to answer simple questions such as what brush they used or long it took

1. Inform the person that it’s your work and to either remove it or credit them

2. If it’s still not credited or taken down, report their post

3. If the report didn’t go anywhere or if the account is still doing it to yours and others content, please make an awareness post about it. Strength comes in numbers after all!

PRIVATE SYSTEM SERVER.

Hello. As a show of my ability, I have created a private system server template for you to use. While "private" is in the name, I have included two access roles (Friend and Trusted Friend)—however I have not done any permissions for them. There is a Bot role that has permissions for them, like access to the System Setup category.

And, like the last template, only traumagenic systems can interact with this blog and use my templates. Endogenic systems and their supporters get blocked.

Note that not every single channel is in this gif, just the ones I deemed the most important to show.

💬 mailbox - Essentially, I create a channel with a headmate's name and there are two tags: Read and Unread. Read means they've read the messages people leave for them, and Unread means they have yet to read them. It's a simple way to communicate with headmates who are not fronting.

All servers here are unable to be chatted in; only any member with the Bot role can do that. I enjoy setting up my PluralKit work into a few separate categories:

#resources - Easy access to Simply Plural, Notion, Evernote, or various places I get PNGs to set up PluralKit profiles—things of that nature and related to it.

#pk-setup - For descriptions and things.

#pk-pfps (not in gif) - To add profile pictures and banners. I put it in its own space because it's a different type of spam, image-based spam, than pk-setup, which is mostly text-based spam.

A post that's very much related to a separate post that's been going around the graphic side of Tumblr. (To the person that made the original, this is not in bad taste. I'm just stating opinions of my own and opinions that others may have in common with me. I genuinely have no intent on trying to make you look necessarily bad in any way. The first half is just kind of me rephrasing the original post because I thought it had a good point, but that point got lost along the way.):

Make a pretty blog because: you enjoy making it, having one makes you happy, looking at it comforts you, etc.

If making a pretty blog doesn't feel like something that would be worth your time or would make you happy, then don't.

Just have fun and be yourself, there is no standard to meet and you having a "non-aesthetic" blog doesn't reflect on you. People are here for YOU, not your blog aesthetic.

That being said, to anyone and everyone who DOES have an "aesthetic" blog, that's cool. I hope it makes you happy.

And I hope that some people realize that making and decorating a blog, even if it's super "aesthetic," IS a way to express yourself. Art is self expression, fashion is self expression, music is self expression, even book covers can be self expression. It doesn't matter if it follows a color scheme, maybe that's just what you like and what feels right.

And using myself as an example because I'm sure I'm not the only one, I don't make my blog appearance for ANY of you. I'm sorry. It's for me, because it brings me comfort. I like having a pretty blog because it helps with my anxiety, I enjoy looking at it, and it feels more like mine. And also, there are so many blogs I have made that I find "aesthetic" that are on private. They could not be less for followers or status.

"It's just copying" (<- paraphrasing here.) No idea is original. Listen to me: no BOOK idea is entirely original. Every story has technically been done before in one way or another. Does that mean the author has no personality? Does that mean the author has no creativity or is just trying to seem cool? No. There is no such thing as an entirely original thing. But they we're expressing their talent and what they like to do. Let people have fun, let people do what they want.

This same argument can and does happen in the artist community, the writing community, and every other form of art. This is not a new argument, it's just a slightly different context. If this was applied intensely to everything, no one would participate in hobbies anymore.

I love everyone who doesn't have "aesthetic" blogs. I love everyone who does. And yes, some people with pretty blogs get followers more easily, but those followers have minds of their own. If they realise "hey, this person isn't actually all that great of an individual," then they'll unfollow them. A color scheme and some pngs don't earn love and forgiveness. It's all for enjoyment and fun.

Please do be yourself. But be yourself in whatever way works for YOU. At the end of the day, it really is just pixels. So the appearance of your things or how cool you seem DOESN'T matter. But take that again with the context of this post: the appearance of your things or how cool you seem DOESN'T matter. So do what you want.

I am very aware that this post is much less than perfect. There are definitely parts that I could've phrased differently, and things I could've added to convey the message better. But I hope you can understand what I was trying to say. And it's more than likely that I'm wrong about a lot of this, and this entire conversation is up to debate. Aspiring artist here and super new to it, and absolutely no pressure, but I was wondering how you go about sizing your comics for best quality + sharing? Your art is always so CRISP and gorgeous what's ur secret to defeating the Compression Gods *eyes emoji*

Hahaha, I don’t really have a lot of Hot Tips but I’ll do my best.

When I’m laying out my canvas for a comic I’ll usually go by pixel and start with 850X9000. When I tried doing a little Webtoon for a minute the images they let you upload are 850x1100, and that’s really close to phone screen size so it’s a good starting place to make art for that size specifically.

I draft the comic by just handwriting and sketching out panels without worrying about spacing. Once I have a draft I’ll go through and organize it better, I start with speech bubbles cause they always take up a ton of room. Then I add panel frames and often I’ll move the sketches around to accommodate the speech bubbles.

Finally I go through and chop up the comic by cropping down on the panels I want to include for each image and saving it as a png which is a lossless format. I’ve varied the size I crop to depending on how long a comic is. Sticking around 1100 pixels tall is best because again it’s close to phone screen size and your art won’t get too crunchy.

Then I post it!

For non comics I make things very pixel dense, like 6000x6000 or more and always try to save as PNG. JPEG is a format that will always lose some data every time you copy and paste it, so some artists post those on purpose to make sure people can’t easily make off with their art. I’m a ding dong and I just post the high resolution most of the time cause ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Once I have a finished piece I’ll make a blank black panel at 850x1100 to position over the art and that’s what I crop down to to make closeups.

I have the right to post any commissioned work on any of my social media, portfolio sites, etc. - I may do as I wish with it.

The commissioner does not own the rights to the art I make. They only own the rights to any original character designs within the work.

The commissioner cannot repost the commission on other sites & claim it as their own work. They can, however freely use it as long as I have been clearly & sufficiently credited.

Any reposts must credit me by username “soft5ku11” on tumblr.

I have the right to sell any commissioned work as prints, stickers, posters, shirt designs, etc. The commissioner does not. This also applies to uploading the work to sites like Redbubble to buy items from the site using the commissioned artwork. The commissioner may, however, ask me to put the work on the site for them.

I have the right to deny a commission for any reason and I do not have to disclose that reason.

I will send invoices via PayPal which must be paid in full before I start working. Commissions are non-refundable unless I, for any reason, feel I cannot fulfil the brief given, In which case I will refund the money I received. (It won’t be a full refund since PayPal takes a small cut which they do not return upon refunding an invoice. It will be a refund of the remaining money after it's been deducted by PayPal, unfortunately.)

The commissioner does not have the right to withdraw or request reimbursement through PayPal at any stage unless for reasons listed prior in points 6 and 7.

This comic takes place when Jazz still works at Val's club and before Val and Angel's relationship 'got bad' AKA this one is in the weird space right before shit hits the fan and Angel is made aware of what kind of man Val really is. That Angel isn't even an 'exception' :(

(Which is why Angel can still talk to Val like Vox could. They're still 'normally dating' besides the contract and the boss/employee thing - "but hey! it's hell!" (<-Angie's inner thoughts lmao I genuinely wanna CRY over that little spider boy))

When it comes to backgrounds outside of full pieces, that will be subject to extra charges depending on complexity.

I'll be accepting commissions through PayPal, and DMs will be handled through my tumblr.

Commissions are first come, first serve. Communication will primarily be through Tumblr DMs, for the sake of convience. If you need the commision sooner rather than later, that will be subject to extra charges.

OCs will need a full reference sheet.

Depending on the complexity of the character design, an additional charge will be added.

I also encourage an idea sheet, like a stick figure drawing of what you want. It's not required, but will make the process alot easier for both sides.

I will need to accept the commssion request first. Once confirmed, payment is upfront through Paypal (USD), then I will begin your commission.

For all art, I'll send the sketch first for your acceptance/alterations/etc. I'll answer check-ins on progress, especially for full pieces, but it will not be the full png, only screenshots.

Turnaround will be 1 week for the sketch. Time will vary depending on the commission, but I will work to have it come ASAP. If time is of an issue, and this commision needs to be completed sooner, that will need to be made clear in the beginning and I will have to charge 20% extra. But, you will become a priority commission.

DO NOT FEED ANY ART TO AI. I will revoke the commision and issue a refund as I do not consent to my art being used to feed AI.

As stated above, I have the right to refuse requests for any reason and that is non-negotiable.
