“Do you know anyone willing to date a ghost-touched woman over 6ft tall?”
Barbara Gordon blinked slowly at the lanky teenager who asked the question. His arms were full of astronomy books and he was leaning in close as if it was a serious question.
“It depends? I’m a librarian, not a matchmaker.” she replied, holding her hands out for the books to scan. “Why are you asking? It’s an awfully specific criteria.”
Daniel Nightingale was the name of the boy before her. Just registered in the library system a little under 3 months ago. 17 years old and with that black hair, sky blue eyes and scars on the hand partially covered by a fingerless glove- Wayne adoption bait.
“My older sister is great and all.” he said, fidgeting with his sleeves, “But I think she needs to live a little you know? She’s so.. So….” he made a compressing motion with his hands, like packing a snowball.
“Repressed?” Barbara suggested, scanning the book on the Hubble Telescope.
With a snap of his fingers he grinned. “Exactly! Now if only I could find a guy for her that is ghost-touched…” he muttered under his breath.
“What do you mean by ‘ghost- touched’?”
“Oh you know,” he mimicked the paddles of a defibrillator, “Clear!” he chuckled.
Did this lady have a heart attack? Heart problems?
“I died but it didn’t stick, so someone who is like me would be good. Then we wouldn’t have to explain the whole thing.”
“Oh, I see.” the redhead said, not understanding much at all. “Due date for the books is in one month. I’ll keep an eye out for your sister?”
Danny nodded and gathered all the books into a beat up backpack. “You can’t miss her. Long red hair, super tall, looks like she’ll either have a nervous breakdown or murder someone if you bump into her.”
Barbara could only nod in agreement to the boy as he seemed to float out of Gotham Public Library.
~~
Jazz was ready to shove her little not-quite-dead brother into the Fenton Thermos. She was doing well at her counseling position at the University, but Danny had insisted that her newfound hours of free time should be used in romantic pursuits.
“If you had friends you hung out with I won’t pester you. But Jazz! You need to do something fun!” He had said from the kitchen counter, hair glowing and eyes like two green beacons. “Live a little! We’re already part dead! Let go!”
So she trudged her way to the Public Library. If she had to get out of the house to shut her brother up, she’d at least be an introvert about it.
Jazz put on her best pleasant face and made her way to the librarian’s desk to get registered.
The woman behind the counter was like looking into a warped mirror. Glasses, hair just a shade brighter, and eyes the wrong color looked back at her in mirrored surprise.
“Bad hair day?” the mirror image guessed, pointing at the slouchy hat and messy bun that contained the mass of copper hair that Jazz hadn’t cut in the last year.
“Uh yeah. Little brother was pestering me about going out, so I’m here for a library card.” Jazz rambled, doing her best to not play with the strap of her purse.
“I’m Barbara, and welcome to Gotham Public Library!” The woman smiled warmly.
When Jazz handed over her ID for Barbara to input the required information in the database the lady smirked. “I met your brother a few days ago actually. Tall, scrawny, likes space?”
Jazz groaned. “I’m so sorry about him.”
The librarian’s glasses were white from the monitor. “Oh don’t worry about it, I know how younger siblings are. They mean well, they’re just annoying about it.”
Card squared away, Jazz went in search of a quiet corner to read a trashy romance novel in.
~~
Jason took his rare day off to visit the Library. He was also going to drop off a coffee for Barbara, and maybe sweet talk some info out of her.
He needed some blackmail to lord over some birds.
“Jason! How good to see you in the daylight! Oh! Coffee! Gimmie,” his favorite tech person greeted.
Coffee offering made, Jason and Barbara traded information.
“You should take a load off.” She suggested, waving him away towards the adult fiction shelves as some patrons came to check out. “See you at dinner Sunday!”
The building was warm today, rare sunlight coming through the skylights and windows, making his leather jacket too hot to wear indoors. And there was nothing else pressing on his schedule today, so why not read a bit?
Austen novel in hand, Jason made his way to his favorite reading nook. Instead of the two empty armchairs he’d push together into a lounge, there was a woman already there, firmly in the ray of sun that made her red hair look like fire.
Her long legs were stretched out, boots cluncking together in a slow rhythm as she read.
“Oh,”
Bright green eyes startled and looked at him dead in the eyes. He blinked, and they were no longer green but a calming ocean blue.
“Sorry,” she said, folding her legs back to let him pass.
“Nah, it’s okay, I kind of want to soak in some sun too. Mind sharing?” Jason offered, fully prepared to leave the tall amazon alone. But deep down he felt something warm and grow fuzzy.
“Sure,” she scooted her chair over and pulled the other closer so they both shared the spot of sun. “I’m Jazz.”
He sat down next to her and the scent of her shampoo reminded him of the herby bread that Alfred made with soup. She stretched out again and he realized that her legs were much longer then his.
“I’m Jason.”
Inside the pit barely rippled.
Her phone beeped and she opened the beat-up thing to scoff. “Danny for Ancient’s sake,” she typed something out only for another beep to immediately reply.
Jason frowned. “Danny your boyfriend?”
Blue eyes met him in an exasperated roll. “No. He's just a little brother who can’t mind his own business. Now he wants a selfie to prove ‘I’m not alone being a cave troll.’ Just a sec.”
She started to angle away to send a picture of her flipping off the phone, but Jason pulled her closer and let his arm be visible around her shoulders in the selfie. He hadn’t thought, just acted.
There was a surprising amount of muscle under that sweater.
The pit purred in pleasure and Jason wanted to melt into the floor.
Jazz giggled, her smile showing teeth that were just a little too sharp. “Oh he’ll be happy with this I think. Only thing that would be better is if you had a big black motorcycle. That’d send him through the roof.”
His breath hitched. The sun must’ve been too hot, and he felt himself grow warm under that bright smile.
“Would a black and red motorcycle do?” Was this flirting? Was he flirting? Was it working? He hoped it was working.
Those eyes lit up again and she tossed the book onto the chair, towering over him. “That’s perfect. He hates the idea of me on a motorcycle with a biker boyfriend.”
Jason stood up and tossed his jacket to Jazz with a feral smile. “Let’s get you some pictures riding a motorcycle my lady.”
The pit crowed in happiness, a rare thing when not caused by blood or murder. He made sure to get a few pictures of her on his bike with his own phone before remembering it should really be on Jazz’s phone, to send to Jazz’s brother.
Not wanting the fun time to end, he put his helmet in her hands. “I know a good burger joint. Want to stay out late? See some sights?”
He was so focused on the redhead woman in his leather jacket straddling his bike, he forgot about the other redhead with access to the security cameras.

I’m so glad everyone is having the same visceral reaction to episode 4 like I did. I thought I was being too sensitive but fucking no. It is painful. It is horrid. Knowing that this type of abuse actively happens to sex workers and those who are trafficked. It’s jarring because I didn’t expect to see this dark and explicit depiction in a cartoon that jokes about penises every 2 minutes. It’s like when light hearted coco melon shows start talking about death, it was just unexpected because I never took this show serious. I’m going to share more of my thoughts below! Trigger Warning: Mentions of SA ⚠️
I don’t think it’s my place to deny or confirm if the ‘poison’ scenes were fetishized, I personally believe it’s subjective. I know how I feel but I think no matter where you stand, you are right in your own way. Many things can be true at once. What we can all agree on, is that it was harsh. In a way, I hope the audience is able to understand how exploiting and non glamorous sex work is. There is nothing fun about having your body used multiple times a day by people you do not know and having said scenes recorded then plastered all over the media. Of course all forms of engaging in or creating adult content are different, I am specifically talking about sex workers who have no say or control over their bodies and finances. Like Angel. Let us put emphasis on WORK in sex work.
It is demanding. It is laborious It is scaring. Remember that and remember the unheard voices who must do this to simply survive.
There is a lot of criticism about angel’s personality and yes I agree it is annoying but you have to understand, it is a trauma response. Hypersexuality is a common trait among those who are sexually abused. Angel just outwardly expresses it all the time because it is all he knows. This thought process is the only way to tolerate his behavior. I say thought process because it is only an interpretation. It’s very obvious viv just adores writing sexed up characters with zero nuance or depth but let’s just pretend she can actually write male characters that think beyond their cock and balls. Let’s pretend that Angel Dust is a two dimensional character and not (grits teeth) fetish bait.
Now, let’s talk about Charlie. Alright great, she saw her friend being mistreated and was about to stand up to his abuser, ok good good. The victim (Angel) gets upset and wants her to leave because he was beaten. Yes, average response of someone who is an abusive relationship, he is afraid and wants to avoid more conflict between him and Val. The situation at hand couldn’t be more than obvious. How does Charlie respond? She cries. And not because she is frustratedly concerned for the safety of her friend. It is because he yelled and rejected all her poor attempts at helping. Charlie is weak as shit and I think that interaction was weirdly written. I wish she had the mental fortitude to understand how much danger Angel’s life was in at that moment. I cannot enjoy her ‘aggressive kindness’ cutie do no wrong baby girl type of character in a moment like that.
And I feel the same about Husk’s song. Out of all the responses you could’ve made, this is what made it to the final cut? Do better. I don’t care if I lack the mEdIa LiTeRaCy twitter keeps yapping about. It’s bad. You just showed a sexual assault montage and the rebuttal was basically “my uncle broke his neck tap dancing once :/“ lol we’re both losers and that’s ok, suck it up buttercup, I like you regardless. This was the best response to an SA victim? No degree in media literacy would ever help me think that was an acceptable response. I dunno about ya’ll but I major in common sense at the university of using my eyes and fucking ears. Now imagine, if that entire segment, when Husk and Angel are at the bar plus the musical number; imagine if all of that was placed BEFORE we see Angel and Val interact and then poison plays as the final song. It would be 10x more impactful because then the audience sees how deep and stuck Angel actually is. Trauma olympics is never acceptable but neither is trauma participation trophies. It is not right to make Husk’s issues be seen as the same as Angel’s issues. They are not the same and it is ok to acknowledge that Angel has it worst than Husk. It’d be more genuine if Husk were to just hug him in complete silence after dragging him out of the bar and have Angel tearfully embrace him back. The first non sexual and benevolent interaction between them. The first physical act of care with no ulterior motives of lust.
I grind my teeth at the wasted potential.
#sorry for randomly dropping that trolls reference but it’s exactly what husk’s song felt like!#i hope my statement about sex workers didn’t come off as bashing anyone!!!#it’s just important to know it hard and can be extremely dangerous#don’t let some onlyfans girl with a pink wig trick you into thinking it’s fun just because she used her check to buy disney tickets or smth#sex work is (and i cannot stress this enough) WORK. LABOR.#anyways teehee thank you for reading!!!#anti vivziepop#anti hazbin hotel#vivziepop critical#vivziepop criticism#hazbin hotel critical#hazbin hotel critique#hazmat hotel#🍯

I saw the post about respecting it/its pronouns users and I wanted to ask a question. I am genuinely curious and want to understand better so I’m sorry if I miss the mark. Personally my discomfort with referring to someone with it/its isn’t from the idea that I don’t personally want to be referred to that way, but from feeling like even though it is being specifically requested, it feels dehumanizing. I think it would be a similar feeling if someone named themselves something that is typically a slur or hate speech. I wouldn’t call them the wrong name but I don’t think I would be able to use their name if that makes sense? It deeply uncomfortable to refer to someone in a way that I see as dehumanizing. I don't know how to get over this thought process. Do you have any suggestions? I want to be able to fully respect people’s choices and pronouns properly and understand.
hello thanks for stopping by!
since i get this exact question constantly, let me phrase it like this:
this is hypothetical, i don't know your real pronouns. but let's say you started telling people "my pronouns are they/them, please use those for me, i only use they/them." and everyone around you went:
"i can't use they/them for you. i won't do that, that feels dehumanizing to me. it makes me uncomfortable."
are those people justified in misgendering you because they are uncomfortable?
all of those things you said:
all of these things are about you. you are are thinking about yourself and your own feelings here, not someone else's.
you cannot project your own personal discomfort on to a total stranger like that. they asked you to be referred to by it/its. you are misgendering them if you refer to them by any other pronouns. that is dehumanizing. instead of getting caught up in how you feel about being referred to as it/its, think about how you're dehumanizing someone else by misgendering them instead!
it's never okay to misgender someone because of how you feel about a pronoun set that genuinely is harming no one. it doesn't matter how you feel about those pronouns as you are not the one being referred to by them. the thing is, you are not being called it/its in this scenario. it is the other person who you are calling that. they told you and asked you to do it first. it's not a bait and switch, you're not getting baited into misgendering someone. it is misgendering when one refuses to use that set of pronouns
my suggestion is question why you felt it was appropriate to consider your comfort over someone else's. do you approach people who use they, he, and she this way? if so, that's something you must address, as those pronouns are also used to dehumanize intersex and trans people every day. every day trans women are dehumanized with he and trans men are dehumanized with she. those can also be deeply dehumanizing pronouns, the focus shouldn't be on it/its
the more you use them for people who want them used for them, the more comfortable it becomes. also, it might be good to just.. ask that person how those pronouns make them feel, what they like about them. it might give you a better perspective on it as opposed to a negative assumption
hope that helps! feel free to ask any more questions you may have. all in all, don't make someone else's queer identity about you. that's the best way to approach any identity that someone asks you to be called that isn't outright appropriative or actually harmful or dangerous.

Agatha all along spoilers

Okay okay sure
First off! I’ve seen people on Twitter already going mad but I think I need people to understand, this show was never targeted at a specific lesbian ending, yes! Very queer show and of course lots of Agathario but Rio is death, I always thought a kiss of death would happen because otherwise we’re being silly with ourselves it’s not queer baiting and it’s not helpful to be mad because marvel wont want to do things like this again if we start getting angry, the cast and crew were so proud of this and we should be too (we can vent a little and I plan too but I won’t tag actors or creators because I’m not weird)
But! I will say dying for Billy (technically I know she did because of Nicky because Billy got into her mind like a loser and a bitch and she wanted to redeem herself or whatever) is a bit strange I guess I get people saying ‘oh well of course lesbians get screwed over’ but you know for a marvel show to have actual canon lesbians who are kissing, yeah it’s scraping a barrel but if it’s received well I have no doubt they’ll do it again, I mean in the comics agatha gets resurrected and who’s to say that won’t happen? Anyway I’m ranting and yeah a little sad about the ending because it does feel like the killing eve ending but! Let’s get into the two episodes
Alice! My love, my baby I’m so sorry! Rio was right you died doing your job as a protection witch but it still hurts! I hope the afterlife is good to you and treats you well I love you 🥰
Jen! My beloved you did it! You got your powers back, I can’t believe agatha bound her that’s so funny and messed up! God agatha were you that low on cash???
“He’s an abomination” Damn right Rio get him!
Also the change in agatha a little about not wanting to see Rio when she died like yeah it’s a quick change but I think it’s Agatha putting her shields back up, she does want Rio back she definitely does but also it’s like ‘oh actually I’m putting my guard back up because I’m scared and you did something that hurt me’ (she is my scar!)
Rio being pissed off that agatha doesn’t want her and that she loves it when she’s like this unfortunately ladies this foreplay went a little too far and got ruined by a man (fucking typical) them basically flirting through their whole fight was great too
Also going back to episode 1 where Rio said ‘so take my power’ and Agatha replied ‘cute, but you know that would kill me’ BECAUSE SHE HAD TO KISS HER TO TAKE HER POWER! Did I get it right? Pretty sure I did so I declare that in their private moments agatha never kissed Rio but just started at her neck so not to accidentally kill herself during sex (dramatic lesbians)
Also in ep 4 when Agatha tries kissing Rio but then Rio stops her, I have a depressing feeling that Agatha was so upset at being reminded of what happened to her son she was willing to take the kiss of death I guess? Or maybe Rio can control stuff like that and kiss Agatha fine if she holds her power in but thinking she’s death I think it’s the first one
Rio cutting the road and stepping through I’m not gonna lie I was shocked! I gasped guys and I don’t do that often like obviously they knew was fake but I didn’t I love just thinking about Rio stepping in and out of the road but also where is the ‘road’? Is it just Agatha’s house? Have they been walking around in circles this whole time, god the citizens of westview may need to start looking for other places to live
The Salem era! I loved it (I do want more backstory but I think we’ll get some interviews explaining it so that’ll be fun) born from scratch’ beautiful line Rio turning up I was like ‘oh daddy’s here to help with the birth’ then I quickly remembered she’s death and agatha begging not to take him and then I realised daddy isn’t here to stay for good reasons (like most dads)
Little Nicky was adorable! Such a cute kid and helping his mother trick witches? Putting him to work agatha, I like it! Start them early I say
Also they created the balled! So cute and heartbreaking since Agatha had to sing it all the time when killing these witches constantly being reminded of her son
Also her killing everyday then the one night she doesn’t rio takes their son??? God Rio give her a fucking day don’t you have like billions of other souls to take?? Just walk very slowly 🙄
Billy carrying the trauma of killing three (that’s right I count Sharon too!) witches because he created the road makes the ending worth it actually (not by much) because he has to suffer the consequences and deal with ghost agatha, get recked!
Rio and Agatha will definitely reunite (source: Me) Rio says she hates ghosts but only because she’s death and ghosts probably don’t want to move on, be a bit like trying to round up cats. HER AND AGATHA CAN FINALLY WALK TOGETHER FOR ALL ETERNITY
Anyway I have work in an hour and I’ve been up since 4 it’s now 6 and I’ve slept about 3 hours soooo if this is all ramblings I’ll try to add things later but yeah I loved the last two episodes yeah we could’ve gotten a bit more Agathario but I truly think they didn’t anticipate the overwhelming reception for them (Kathryn and Aubrey did though definitely)
I’m up for any discussion too I love talking about this stuff but works been hectic recently hence why I’m watching the episodes before work because after I’m just knackered but I’m off this weekend so I can reply properly to people

Assuming Laudna will open up to Imogen about killing Bor’dor/Delilah possibly still lingering, I wonder if it will cause friction between them. I don’t know why it would but maybe I just want drama between them to make them interesting to me lol. Anyway, It is gonna be interesting to see how the bells interacts after this cause they all have had some growth and regression. You know what I mean?
So I agree that the reunion is going to be really interesting. While I actually think the parties are on roughly the same page (though Imogen and Laudna might not be; Imogen is still kind of a lone holdout on "but what if I don't care about the gods") they did have wildly different experiences, and I do love drama.
Here's my opinion: I don't actually think Team Issylra regressed. I think there's a very common false equivalence of violence=regression that pops up in the fandom, and I think it's 100% wrong given the setting and genre conventions.
I'm reminded actually of a lot of discussion about the Ted Lasso finale a few weeks ago - there's a good post here, the gist of which is that sometimes a part of recovery is looking less happy. Laudna's entire deal is that she compartmentalizes and suppresses and tells herself it's all uphill from here. Orym has heard multiple people - people who like him, even, who'd consider him a friend or ally - openly say the group that murdered his husband and father-in-law who was basically a father to him and who used his leader (whom he's sworn to protect and who said husband and father-in-law died protecting) as nothing more than bait might have some good points, and he's mostly kept quiet. Even Ashton, who has been in somewhat better shape this arc, believed himself to be undeserving of anything good.
So yeah, Laudna might possibly have reawakened Delilah, but she's actually letting herself experience some emotions and talk about them. It's a pretty major step forward that she's spent so much time admitting to anger and fear, and her feelings about betrayal, and crying on Ashton's shoulder instead of constantly pretending everything is totally fine so that she can be the shoulder to Imogen. Orym's moment with the locket is not, to me, an act of cruelty. It's him saying "why do I keep trying to understand and sparing the feelings of people who never once gave me that grace, and who will use me or murder me without a second thought?" And while Ashton isn't immediately running to Hishari right now because, understandably, they are prioritizing the reunion and stopping the Vanguard, their moment about realizing this is anger and the past was self-pity feels like a breakthrough. He's confronting that past (speaking of false equivalences, there's a similarly common one of "choosing to go along with the main party-wide plot instead of one's own specific hooks=avoidance") and is letting himself whole-heartedly support the party after spending years refusing to have friends because friends leave.
Team Issylra is in the messy part of growth, but they've grown immensely, and that's actually the biggest thing I want to see Team Wildemount respond to.

“I am no where near equipped for what you are asking of me.” You speak firmly to your father, fighting the intense urge to stomp your foot against the shiny, glassy floor like that of a child.
“If I didn’t see you fit, I would not send you.” Your father says to you, sounding just as sure of his plan as ever.
As always.
“I will not be used as bait for one of your enemies.” You straighten your back, holding his blazing and frustrated stare. “You’ve lost your sanity, father.”
“I have not asked you, I have told you what you are to do.” He remains stubborn and firm. “I expect him here no later than morning. Don’t disappoint me, dearest. Now, you best be off.”
Your face twists in the purest form of anger as you turn away from your father to leave him be at his throne. You storm across the palace, back to your own room.
“How could he put me in such a dangerous position?” you mutter to yourself, gathering up a new dress to change into for your days journey.
“Sending me off to find some god forsaken ship, to hunt down a man for him,” you continue to ramble to no one other than yourself and the over-decorated walls.
Or, so you think.
“Let me guess-“ The cook of your palace stands in your doorway. You have grown quite close with her, given she is one of the few women around anymore. “-You’re being sent off on a mission, per your father’s orders again?”
“Yes,” you sigh heavily, undoing your corset. “I must be off shortly. I’m essentially being used as bait for the captain of some ship, Jacob Kiszka.”
Her eyes look as though they are going to fall out of her head, “Do you not realize who that is, Princess?”
“I haven’t the first clue who he is, no,” you admit.
All you know is that his ship would be arriving sooner rather than later, and Jacob is after a specific sword of your father’s. You are not sure why the sword is so significant, all you know is that Jacob is indeed after it.
“I’m sure he’s some gross old man-“
“Far from it, actually. He’s quite young if I remember correctly,” she informs you, laughing lightly at your shocked expression.
“Young?” you scoff in disbelief. “There is no possible way…”
“Oh, but there is. He could only be a few years older than you,” she continues and laughs lightly at you, unintentionally adding to your frustration more. “Not to say that I am at all on board with your father using you, but I understand why he’s asked you. He’s just a young lad.”
“This is just absolutely ridiculous,” you huff. “Sending me off to capture some boy, who could probably still kill me with one hand, regardless of age!” Your arms flail around you in dramatic emphasis. “How do you even know this information about him?”
“He’s actually quite well known,” she answers, eyes falling to the floor. “But… how I know him personally is not relevant.”
A heavy silence falls over the two of you for a moment.
“I know very well that your father has taught you to be an incredible fighter,” she speaks up, softly breaking the silence. “…Perhaps if you’re truly so worried, you should take another man with you. Daniel, maybe?”
You think on her suggestion for a moment, ultimately deciding it isn’t a bad idea after all.
“Will you please retrieve him for me?”
“Of course, Princess.” She nods to you politely. “I should not distract you any further. Good luck to you, dear.. I shall send for Daniel for you at once.”
“Thank you,” you mumble under your breath, sending her a rather forced smile.
Gathering the rest of your things, you are going off to find Daniel yourself, but you realize he has finally come to you, by the soft knock at your door.
“Princess,” he greets with a charming nod of his head and a smile that can undoubtedly melt the coldest souls. “It was brought to me that you are in need of my assistance.”
“Yes,” you start, casting him your undivided attention, just as he is giving to you. “My father wants me to capture this Captain…Jacob Kiszka. He is after something of his and Father wants him taken care right away.”
“With all respect, Princess, shouldn’t you be demanding he send someone else to do such a job?” Daniel’s face turns immensely concerned and fearful on your behalf. “Jacob is a very skilled and clever man. You have no business-“
“-I’ve tried to change his mind all I can, but you know how he is,” you speak warily, cutting him off. “But that’s why I’ve asked for you. I would love for you to join me.”
Daniel’s eyes widen and the Adams apple of his throat bobbed as he swallowed thickly.
“Princess, I truly don’t think this is-“
“-I have no other choice, Daniel!” You firmly cut him off once again. “Now… Are you coming, or are you going to stay here as though you are some sort of coward?”
Daniel is far from a coward and you know that without a doubt, but you have to convince him somehow.
“When are we to depart?” He caves, speaking through a sigh of defeat.
“Right now.” You nod curtly, grabbing your belongings and walking right past him.
He mumbles to himself from behind you, taking long strides to keep up alongside you, “What have I gotten myself into…?”
“Just look at it as an adventure, Daniel,” you jest in attempts to lighten the mood.
“And suppose one of us gets hurt? What shall happen then?” Daniel questions rapidly, speeding up to reach the door of the palace before you. “Ah! Do not dare to touch that door.”
“I am about to capture a thief and you are concerned about me opening but a single door?” you chide lightly, cocking an eyebrow as he opens the door for you anyway.
You step out first, waiting patiently for him to follow after you.
“And stop thinking in such worrisome ways,” you add, once he joins at your side. “You are quite frankly putting a thorn in my side.”
Your light teasing brings a small smile to Daniel’s face and he huffs a soft laugh before changing the subject entirely.
“How would you like to travel, princess?”
“On foot,” you tell him, taking off in the direction of the area in which Jacob and his ship are suspected to be coming to.
He looks at you with shock filled eyes, “Alright, you are officially out of all of your senses.”
“It is not that far from here,” you roll your eyes, the pair of you walking farther away from the palace. “They’re going to anchor at the closest point they can, but far enough away as to not be perceived from the palace.”
“And how can you be so sure?” He’s full of never ending questions.
“Enough questions, Daniel, seriously,” you sigh in slight annoyance. “It would be in your best interest to simply trust me.”
The two of you walk in silence for quite some time, taking in the nature around you and putting mental marks on things that you walked by, as to not leave any chance of getting lost on your journey back.
“How much farther are we going, Princess?” Daniel breaks down and asks yet another question.
You open your mouth to answer him, but the sounds of various voices shouting about, swiftly interrupt you.
“Stop.” You place your hand out to stop Daniel in his tracks beside to you. “Voices. I hear voices. Do you hear them, Daniel?”
He looks around, listening intently and after a moment or two, the same shouting fills his ears as well.
“I hear them.” Daniel nods, confirming that you are not losing your sanity.
Quickly, you put your plan of attack into motion.
“Daniel, whatever you do, do not leave my side.” You tell him, giving a curt nod as you made your way towards the tree line that followed the edge of the river bank.
The closer you get, the louder the voices become and the more your nerves threaten to overtake you.
You and Danny make your way through the trees, stopping just out of view of the surprisingly nice ship haphazardly docked just before the shoreline.
A beautiful, fit and young man treads his way through the shallow water and up on to the sand, looking far more put together than the rest of the crew surrounding him.
“That must be him…” you point towards him, Daniel’s eyes following your index finger. He nods, confirming your guess.
“Princess, please, let me take care of this?” Daniel pleads quietly. “There are far too many of them to take on alone.”
“Nonsense. I shall do what I was sent to do,” you insist. “We must figure out how to capture him without the rest witnessing. They will surely come looking, if they see us leave with him.”
“Not to mention that we walked here,” Daniel reminds you. “I suppose that means I will be carrying him back, surely?”
“You have always been incredibly smart,” you tease and answer his question all at once.
“Now, then! Now, then!”
Soft gasps are shared between you and Daniel, as who you presume was Jacob, starts to loudly gather in his crew.
“Now that I have the undivided attention of all of you dandy crewmen, I shall be off in attempts to get in to the King’s palace at once!” he begins to explain, voice somehow much louder and firmer than you expected it to be. “I hate to break one’s heart, but all of you are to return to the ship and remain there until I return! I cannot risk my plans being tampered with. Am I clear to all of you?!”
They all express their understanding in almost perfect unison.
“That will be all, then! Please, return to the ship right away!”
Like well trained animals, everyone files back to the ship as Jake stands around to watch on, ensuring not one person is staying behind.
He is so breathtaking… It almost drowns out the hatred that you already hold for him.
You shake your intrusive thoughts of the captain away, putting on your brave face to continue on with a new plan.
“Come, Daniel!” you yell in a whisper, creeping your way back out of the trees.
“Come on!”
Once you both make it out, he begins his frantic questioning once more, “What ever are we doing now, princess?!”
“Hush,” you silence him. “We must go back towards the palace. I believe it best that we ambush him there.”
He simply shakes his head in understanding, glancing over his shoulder quickly to be sure no one has spotted either of you and is following.
You stop at the bushes near the entrance of the palace, breathing heavily and shaking your head in exasperation as the two of you duck down out of sight.
Daniel lets out a frustrated and tired huff. “We are back where we started, princess. I’m starting to question your oh-so elaborate planning.”
“You are being such a sore thumb today. I beg of you to just do as I say.” You send him a pleading look.
Silence fills the air around the two of you for a while, until the cracking of rocks beneath boots captures Daniel’s attention.
“Princess,” he nudges at your shoulder. “The Captain is upon us.”
You peak through the flowers and leaves, eyeing him as he makes his way carefully up the path.
You catch yourself gawking at him again; the way he walks, his long tresses and the beautiful dagger hanging from a strap across his chest.
“Your majesty, please,” Daniel begs, knocking you from your trance. “Please, tell me what you want me to do.”
“I… I want you to wait until he walks by us. If we stay here, he won’t see us right away. Once he passes, we will attack from behind. I need him unconscious,” you explain quickly. “Once he is unconscious, I will tie his hands and you shall help me carry him to the cells.”
Just as you finish and Daniel gives you his quick, verbal understanding, Jake passes through the gates and bushes, slowing his pace and ducking every so often to avoid possibly being seen.
“I will tell you when,” you whisper into Daniel’s ear and he nods once.
The captain walks a few more feet up the pathway, ducking down behind a rose bush and unsheathing his dagger from its case.
Daniel copies him, pulling his own dagger from its casing.
“Now,” you mutter with unbridled urgency.
Daniel has Jake plummeting to the ground within seconds. You watch on for only a moment, before fear takes over and you feel the need to join him.
Groans and curses are being hurled between them, swings and bone crushing punches being thrown along with their noises of pain.
Jake holds his dagger backwards, swinging the handle towards the side of Daniel’s head.
“NO!”
You bolt towards them, taking Jake to the ground upon your collision - sparing Daniel of the bone-crushing blow that was mere seconds away from colliding with the temple of his head.
Daniel recovers rather quickly, throwing you off of Jake and taking your place on top of him.
One strong and well-timed swing from Danial is all it takes and the Captain falls limp against the ground as he goes unconscious.
Daniel falls away from him, chest heaving and covered in small droplets of blood here and there. His hand clutches over his chest, as he fights to recenter himself.
“Are you alright?” you ask frantically, pulling the rope from around your waist and tying it securely around the Captain’s hands.
“Just perfect, Princess,” Daniel chuckles sarcastically, dusting himself off as he stands to his feet. “Here, allow me.”
“I think not.” You swat his hand away. “Rest for another moment. I will take care of this.”
Once you have the knots tied, you stand up and let Daniel take over again. He scoops him up like a rag doll, throwing him over his shoulder as though the Captain weighs little to nothing.
You bend down and pick up Jake’s dagger, shoving it down into your pocket and following after Daniel as he starts making his way up towards the palace.
“How long do you think he will stay unconscious?” you ask, making your way through the lower levels of the palace.
“Not much longer, I’m afraid.” Daniel answers, stopping at the large cell at the end of the cold, dimly lit hallway.
“Just put him on the bed. I shall take it from here.” You order rather gently, confident that he can’t hurt you from behind the bars of the cell.
“As you wish.”
Daniel drops him down onto the bed and unties him carefully, tossing the rope to the side thoughtlessly as he goes.
Just as he finishes Jake lets out a low groan of discomfort and Daniel quickly makes his was back out of the cell.
You close the door and lock it, watching Jake for a moment to find that he is still mostly out of it, when there isn’t another sound to be heard from him.
“Do you wish for me to inform your father that we have the Captain?”
“No!” You look up to Daniel with panic-filled eyes. “I will tell him myself. He doesn’t know that you accompanied me and I would rather him not.”
“Understandable, Princess,” Daniel says. “I shall keep my doings to myself.”
“I am most grateful for you,” you smile up at him, placing a gentle hand on his bicep. “Thank you.”
Removing your hand from his arm, Daniel brings it up to his lips in a gentle kiss as he bows, “You are most welcome, your majesty.”
He releases your hand, standing upright and beginning his way down the hallway.
Before he gets too far, he turns back to face you with a serious look. “Princess?”
You whip around to face him also, “Yes, Daniel?”
“If anything is to happen and you need my assistance again, you know where I reside.”
Not awaiting an answer - knowing you understand without having to say so out loud - he disappears through the large door. The loud sounds of it closing sends an eerie echo around the concrete walls and floor.
You slowly turn back towards the cell, watching and listening to Jake intently for any signs of movement or noise.
“Bloody hell,” Jake’s voice rumbles in a low groan, his arms struggling to push his weight away from the bed he is sprawled across.
He finally gets himself upright, looking around in a pure panic at his surroundings.
Stumbling up to his feet, he spins around and freezes in place when his eyes land upon you.
“Oh, well is this not just lovely?” you speak rather tauntingly. “The captain is finally awake.”
“And you are?” Jake saunters up to the door, rough hands wrapping around the cold bars.
“Princess of The Garden, at- well… I am not at your service,” you stumble over your formalities, forgetting that you owe him not a single one. “Not much of a kingdom we have around here, more so a small, royal family on secluded land.”
“I am very well aware of practically all of that.” Jake bites matter-of-factly, full of anger.
There are a few moments of intense silence, the loud and unsteady breathing from Jake being the only constant sound.
“Would you be so kind as to remind me how I managed to get here?” Jake questions bitterly, clearly trying to contain his rage.
“Me,” you smile at him with hardly contained pride. “Well, me and another accomplice.”
“Quite weak of you to have to bring a companion along just to capture me.” Jake smirks, his face noticeably contorting in discomfort as he assesses with his fingertips, the bruises that Daniel had left on his jaw. “Someone ought to teach you how to fight.”
“You know nothing about my fighting skills,” you say dryly, sending him a death glare through the bars of the cell. “I would be a fool to travel alone, regardless of how well I fight.”
“You seem to be a bit of a fool anyway,” Jake chuckles, glancing up at you with bold eyes.
If you could smack him across his careless mouth, you absolutely would.
“Letting your father send you into such danger…” Jake shakes his head, giving you a judgmental once-over. He turns and walks towards the hard bed in the corner. “You aren’t cut out for such violence.”
“I wish you would stop speaking as if you know me.” Your arms cross over your chest. It isn’t a very good response, but it is as good of one as you can seem to gather. “You know absolutely nothing about me.”
Jake ignores the comment entirely.
“If I may ask, why are you still lingering, princess?”
The name falling of his tongue is like a drug. The most addictive drug one could find. Somehow he makes the most flattering and important name, sound so degrading.
You stand frozen in place for a few moments too long, struggling to find a genuine reason for staying around - of which you do not have.
He hums to himself, head tilting back slightly, “Just as I thought. You haven’t any good reason.”
You open your mouth to attempt some sort of protest.
“If I may, your majesty,” Jake stands to his feet and saunters back to the door. “You are quite the gem. So exquisite and beautiful…” he trails off for a moment, a sly grin spreading over his lips as he looks over you. “Too bad you are too feisty and disobedient for my liking.”
Your whole body begins to boil with various emotions; you’re flustered, angry and immensely intrigued by him. He is setting you ablaze in a foul, but irresistible way.
“And… you are much too disrespectful for my taste,” you seethe, faltering for a moment so short, you hope it goes unnoticed. “Speaking to royalty in such a despicable manner…”
“And yet, the royalty herself, seems to be enjoying it.” Jake grins wickedly.
You can’t tell if it’s your body’s attempt to be intimidating, or seeking closer proximity to Jake. Regardless, without really thinking, you step forward, “What makes you believe for a second that I am enjoying any part of this?”
“Many reasons, Princess…” Jake starts, speaking low and hushed. “You’ve taken at the very least five steps closer to this door. You could have left the second your… ‘accomplice’ dropped me in here.”
“You are terribly-“
“-Quiet, Princess. I don’t take well to being interrupted.” Jake cuts you off abruptly, holding up a single finger that you can not seem to tear your eyes away from. “I would almost say you enjoy being spoken to this way, don’t you? Everyone gets tiresome with constantly hearing praises… And I’m sure praise is all you know, is it not?”
“Perhaps.” The word leaves your mouth bitter and clipped. He is very much right - you both know that very well.
“Mhm, as I thought.” Jake grips the bars of the door above his head, leaning forward as far as he can go. “You know… I could show you so much more. Make you feel so much more.”
“And what could you possibly be hinting at with such words, Captain?” you question, attempting to throw his title back at him the same he had yours. Only to sound much more breathy than you intend.
“If only I had the keys to open this-“ He gestures to the large door, the only thing keeping the two of you separated. “-I could show you much better than I could ever tell you, your majesty.”
“Never in a million years would I consider letting you out,” you scoff, shoving the key that is now damp from your sweating hands, back into your pocket.
“Who said anything about letting me go?” Jake asks you. “Just join me. You have the key to leave whenever you so please.”
“And… if I do choose to join you…?” You narrow your eyes, taking in his blown out pupils and all the little details surrounding them.
“Then I shall do just as I have said and show you things you will never forget.” Jake promises lowly, leaning in closer. “Things you will never want to forget,” he adds.
Your faces are as close as they can possibly be, you can feel the warmth of his breath as he speaks to you.
Without once looking away from him, you hastily retrieve the key from your pocket and unlock the door.
Jake steps back, allowing you the proper space to slide the door open just enough to squeeze your body through and get into the cell with him.
You turn around and close the door, closing your eyes for a split second in attempts to slow your pounding heart and process what you have just done.
As you turn around to finally face Jake, he immediately outstretches his hand towards you and bows before you ever-so-slightly.
Hesitantly, you place your shaking, sweating hand in his and he brings it up to his lips, “‘Tis quite the pleasure, Princess.”
Jake places the first kiss to the top of your hand, holding your stunned gaze. He shifts his hold up to your wrist, his lips following and placing another kiss higher up.
He continues the same actions, kissing all the way up your arm, until his hand reaches your shoulder and his face is inches from yours.
Slowly, he backs you up until you can feel the uncomfortable firmness of metal bars against your back.
“You are truly quite the brave one for joining me.” Jake whispers against your ear. “Just to make things sort of even, I fully plan to tease you until you’re begging and pleading for my mercy.”
“And what leads you to believe I would ever beg someone like you?” You tilt your head back defiantly.
Jake only smirks In amusement, “Is that a challenge?”
“If you can make me beg, I will let you go and tell my father you didn’t dock where he expected,” you bet with him rather smugly… and stupidly.
“My, my. The princess is going to beg me like a whore and lie to her father?” Jake tsks with a faux disappointed shake of his head. “It seems I have corrupted the sweet, royal, princess already. And suppose your accomplice -as you called him- goes back and tells him…? What lie should be grand enough to cover us then?”
His nose is practically brushing against your own, a tension so unbearable further blooming between the two of you.
“T-That is not his place. My father didn’t know that I took him, nor will he. I asked Daniel not to speak of his hand in helping me, or even that we have you,” you inform him truthfully. “It was my duty to capture you and bring you here, not his. I shall be the one to tell my father what it is he must know.”
“Well, then, I suppose I can have my way with you.” Jake purrs, teasing his lips over yours. “Is that what you want, your majesty?”
“So many words and promises, but you’ve yet to show me a thing.” You just barely chase after his lips.
Grabbing each side of your face with both of his large and calloused hands, Jake connects his lips with yours roughly.
It takes you a moment to catch up to his pace, especially with losing every bit of air from your lungs within the very second his lips met yours. Your tongues move against each other, fighting for dominance as whimpers flutter from you and into his warm mouth.
He pulls away, breathless and practically hissing out his next words, “Sweet, sweet princess. You do not know a bit of what you have in store for yourself. Stay right there.”
Jake steps back from you with a finger pointed to the floor where you stand, bending down to pick up a lengthy piece of rope that you and Daniel had him tied up with not so long ago.
“Do you trust me?” There’s a twinkle in his eyes, amusement behind them as he asks you the ridiculous question.
You stare down at the rope outstretched before you - shocked, but you remain shamefully aroused by it all the same.
“Trust- trust you? You are nothing but a complete stranger,” your voice wavers.
“Nonsense. We have spent at least few hours in one another’s presence, now, haven’t we?” His crooked smile sends waves of heat to your core. “Stranger? yes, in some sense. But I’m not a complete stranger anymore.”
You drop your eyes from his, back down to the rope in his hands. Jake pushes it out a little closer to you, eyes deeply studying your cautious but curious face.
Slowly, you lift your hands up and lay your wrists over top of his hands, looking up at him in question as if to say, ‘is this right?’
Jake holds your burning stare and starts to wrap the rope around your wrists, binding them together tightly, but still comfortably somehow.
“Outstanding,” Jake hums, walking off to a corner where another small piece of rope has been discarded.
“Just one last thing,”
Jake makes his way back over to you, placing a hand on your shoulder and pushing you back a few steps until your back collides with the cold metal bars.
His hand travels from your shoulder, down your arm, until it reaches the rope around your wrists. Grabbing it, he watches your breath quicken as he lifts your arms up and over your head, securing them to the bars with a second piece of rope.
“Mm-“ you clear your throat nervously. “-And how do you presume you will be able to remove my dress in such a position?”
“Lovely of you to inquire,” Jake smiles wildly, pressing his body against yours and leaning in closer to your ear. “I just so happened to see this-“ his hand travels the corseted curve of your side, dipping into your pocket. “-the handle of my dagger shining, while you were standing outside the cell. Not only are you a princess, but a little thief.”
“Well- I...” you stutter weakly, feeling mindless for forgetting to leave it with Daniel.
“You what?” Jake presses, biting at the shell of your ear.
Your only response is your labored breathing, unable to form an intelligible response.
He unsheathes his beautiful dagger from your pocket, resting it over your chest.
“You think too little of my schemes, princess.” He places a kiss over your nose. “I already planned to take my dagger back to use just for this moment. Why take your clothes off with my tired hands, when I could cut them off?”
“Jake,” his name rushes out of your lungs in a heavy sigh.
He grabs you by the waist, turning you around to face the bars and skillfully cut the strings of your corset.
Turning you back around to face him, he pulls it off of your body with ease and continues on with cutting away at your other garments.
Each piece is slowly pulled from you, neatly cut and haphazardly tossed to the side by Jake’s calloused hands.
As he yanks the last piece away, you are then completely naked before him - eyes never lifting to meet his burning gaze upon you.
“Breathtaking, your majesty,” Jake all but whispers, seemingly a little lost in the site that he is beholding.
You draw in a deep breath, exhaling it even slower than the slowness at which you had taken it in, “I’m sure I look far more suitable than anyone you have ever laid with.”
Upon your overweening remark, your eyes finally meet with his and you swear you see fire flash within them.
“How witty of you, princess,” Jake snaps sarcastically, pressing his body into yours. “Haughty of you to assume you are not the one that I would graciously turn away.”
It stings, but somehow you know he doesn’t mean it. Part of you hoped he didn’t, at least.
“Your mouth is foul and full of disrespect,” you snap quietly; silently wishing your hands were free, so that you can act on the resurfacing urge to smack him.
Jake stays silent, bringing the handle of his dagger down against your stomach and slowly dragging it down. The golden handle makes goosebumps form across your skin, your hips writhing about ever so slightly in anticipation.
Just when the end of his handle is close to your heat, he jerks it away entirely.
Instead, he dips his own finger down farther to feel the wetness pooling between your legs himself.
Jake glances up at you with wild eyes, flashing you a wicked smile. “The princess, so proper and poised and innocent… soaked as though she’s dipped into the river.”
Adjusting his careful hold around the blade, Jake lays the handle right where it had stopped before he pulled it away. He continues its slow descent down to your clit, where it halts to rub in the slowest, softest circles.
“Oh, Jake,” you gasp, pushing your hips harder against it.
“Oh, that’s just lovely,” Jake smirks, leaning in to place kisses over your exposed chest. “My name sounds beautiful coming from that pretty little mouth.”
He uses his own hips to hold yours in place, so he that can move the handle of the dagger at whatever pressure or speed he so desires.
“Let me hear it again, princess… ‘Jake,’” he repeats his own name to you, as though you don’t know it.
“Jake,” he repeats again.
Trying to hold onto your defiance and composure, you harshly bite at the inside of your mouth to keep from doing as he asked.
“This won’t do at all, your majesty,” Jake clicks his tongue, moving the handle in faster circles, while his other wraps around your throat. “Did I not say I want to hear you again? Come now, let me hear what pretty noises you can make. I’m sure you’re fantastic at it, little whore.”
He presses the handle harder into your bundle of nerves, drawing firmer circles against you. It’s untamable; the noise that erupts from your lungs, echoing through the cold cell and likely even through the long hallway.
“So beautiful. Keep going…” Jake encourages, tilting his head back as he watches on to your pleasure.
Jake leans forward, his free hand securing itself around your jaw to tilt your head to the side. His lips meet with your neck, biting roughly at the tender skin and soothing the sting with the softness of his tongue.
A soft laugh floats out of him each time you whine or struggle against him and the rough ropes that secure you in place.
“Jake,” you whimper through a labored exhale. The feeling of sweet release is already beginning to bloom in the pit of your stomach.
“Is the princess getting close?” Jake questions with a sly cadence. “Already, your majesty?”
You choose not to answer him, in light of climbing to the peak of your orgasm without chance of interruption.
Alas, Jake is the least bit stupid.
“Are you trying to fool me, princess?” Jake asks lowly, slowing the circles that the handle of his dagger are making.
The urge to relent and beg him is already far greater than you anticipated, but you are determined to stand your ground.
“Not trying to fool you, only avoiding the act of begging a thief,” you speak breathlessly.
“That’s a shame,” Jake grins, trailing his hand down your body to your arousal. A single finger plays at your entrance, “I would let you cum if you were not so hell bent on being a stubborn little brat.”
Just to antagonize you further, he sinks his finger inside you, purposefully curling it upwards just shy of the sweet spot within you.
“Mm…”
A tight lipped whimper tumbles out of you, your body arching into his touch ever-so-slightly.
“Oh? Do you like that, princess?” Jake taunts, looking down the bridge of his nose as he watches you. “You love having attention on your pretty little pussy, don’t you?”
“I…” You aren’t really sure what you had planned to say, or even what you want to say. All thoughts are either jumbled, or lost entirely.
“You what?” Jake pries, sliding the handle of the dagger through your folds to collect more of your wetness.
The second the handle returns to your throbbing bundle of nerves, something snaps inside of you.
“Jake,” you whine, tugging at your restraints despite the incessant burn of the rope. “Jake, please!”
“There it is.” Jake’s smile is pleased and cocky.
Feeling ever so gracious, he pushes in a second finger and deepens their rhythmic thrusts.
Jake presses his lips to the corner of your open mouth, “Tell me how good it feels, princess. Tell me.”
“I-it feels s-so good. Feels so good,” you stutter, tempted to turn your head and capture his lips in a kiss, all on your own accord. “Please!”
“Please?” He parrots mockingly. “Please what, your majesty?”
The feelings of your impending climax finally starts to build once again. This time, you are not going to give it up.
“Please let me cum!” You nearly sob, rushing every single word from your mouth. “Please, captain, I’ll do whatever you want… J-just please let me cum.”
“Give it to me, then,” Jake demands. “Right now.”
The band of pleasure breaks within you, sending you into an earth-shattering spiral of bliss that you could not have ever prepared yourself for.
Your knees buckle beneath you, leaving the ropes binding your wrists to be the only thing holding you up. The sting of the rope not even registering, as cuts and burns surely form around your wrists.
“What a good girl you are for me, princess,” Jake praises you, removing his fingers from you first to wrap his arm around your body, holding you up.
“J-Jake,” you choke out, squirming in his hold against the overstimulation that he was beginning to cause you. “I- It-s-“
“Shhh,” he silences you, a little reluctantly pulling his dagger away from your core. “I know, princess.”
Studying your face, he takes in your half-lidded eyes and flushed cheeks. The slightest bit of pity took over him.
Jake tucks the dampened handle of his dagger beneath your chin, tilting your head up to meet his gaze. “Will you be a good girl if I untie you? Hm?”
“Y-yes, sir- I mean, Captain,” you answer him, correcting yourself once more just for good measure. “Yes, Captain.”
Flipping the weapon around, he drags the tip of the dagger down your throat with only enough pressure to make it resemble a feather, making your breath hitch in your chest. Fear starts to rise back up inside you, along with adrenaline. The combination is intoxicating in a dangerous way.
“Will you truly?” Jake cocks a single eyebrow at you.
The sharp tip moves across your chest and down your stomach, goosebumps forming as you shudder.
“Yes! Yes,” you promise, breathing uneven and more labored than it has been so far.
The tip dips into your belly button, eliciting some sort of choked whimper from your throat.
Jake smirks at that, “Feels nice, doesn’t it?” He begins to trail it back up your body, the same way it had descended down.
You’re struck silent, unable to manage a single word.
Finally reaching your bindings, with two flicks of the dagger, the ropes fall from your wrists.
Your body immediately collapses forward into Jake’s. He tosses his dagger to the floor with a high-pitched clink, just in time to catch you.
“Falling at my feet so soon, princess?” Jake snickers, hauling you back up and guiding you to the bed.
“You forget yourself,” you scoff, clearly displaying your distaste for the thought of being at his feet. “One place you will never find me is at your feet.”
“No, your majesty-“ Jake tangles a hand in your hair, yanking your head back. “-You have forgotten yourself.”
Letting go of your hair, he hastily works to undo the buttons adorning his vest, pulling it away to be discarded onto the dirty floor of the cell - his shirt following directly after.
“What happened to being my good girl?” Jake inquires, stepping closer to you, his face mere inches from yours.
Your response is quick and confident, “Being your good girl is only applicable if you’re pleasing me, Captain.”
“Oh, is it, now?” Jake places his hand over your sternum, sliding it up until it splays around your throat and tightens there. “Is that not what I just did? Please you?” You struggle to draw in air as his grip stays unrelenting, his hold never once wavering as you slowly sink to your knees. “And you’re so needy and desperate that it still wasn’t good enough for you?”
He leans down to be eye level with you as he fires questions at your flushed face, “You’ll take what I feel so inclined to give you, your majesty.”
Jake releases his grip, standing straight up as he watches down on you, gasping to refill your burning lungs with air.
While you work on regaining some form of control over your own body and mind, Jake begins removing the rest of his clothes.
You look up, watching him attentively through your lashes. The perfections of his body are not lost on you.
“Perhaps we should try this again,”
Jake suggests, taking himself in his hand. Your mouth waters at the sight of him. His free hand cups your cheek, “Are you going to be my good girl?”
All you can muster is a nod, unsure that your voice can even function to its fullest abilities.
His thumb, gentle and featherlight in touch, traces over your bottom lip before sinking into your mouth, “Prove it to me, then.”
Your hands are reaching up to wrap around him, before your brain can even fully process the movement.
A kiss far too innocent for the actions you wre about to take part in, is placed over his tip. You hear the shaky breath Jake draws in, encouraging you to repeat the same little kiss once more.
You drop one of your hands down to your lap, sliding your hand down to his base. Sinking your mouth down over the rest of him, you can tell that his whole body shuddered from the pleasure you’re providing him.
“That’s it, princess,” he encourages you, his hand coming up to tangle into your hair.
The twitch of his fingers against your scalp, serves to enlighten you on his urge to push you further. Taking a deep breath, you take him as far as you can go, breathing through the urge to gag around him.
“Fuck,” he curses, hips jerking on their own volition. “Your mouth is too good for me, angel, but you look absolutely lovely taking me like a little whore.”
A whimper sounds from your throat, sending the slightest bit of vibration through him. You start to find a steady rhythm, his hand still resting in your hair.
Every so often, his grip will tighten when you do something he particularly likes. Within a minute or so, he is throbbing inside of your mouth.
“Fuck, alright- enough.” He pulls you away abruptly, breathing significantly more labored.
He takes a moment to gather himself, staring up at the ceiling, as if fighting to hold onto his composure.
“Stand up,” he demands, releasing his grip on your soft tresses.
You scramble up to your feet, dizziness plaguing you for a brief moment.
Jake takes no more than a single step closer to you, eyes scanning over the expanse of your naked body that is displayed before him. He reaches up, dragging the back of his knuckles along your temple, letting the gentle touch travel its way down your face, your neck and to your breasts.
The tip of his finger grazes over your nipple, causing your eyes to flutter closed as your breathing increases.
“Oh, the ways I could ruin this flawless body…” Jake trails off, dragging the tip of his finger down your stomach slowly. “So perfect and not a single blemish or mark in sight. A true beauty, you are, aren’t you?”
With every word that so gracefully purrs its way out of his mouth, he backs you closer to the bed.
“M… mark me.” The words fly out of you before you can stop them.
In one quick movement that you are far too dazed to notice, you’re laying beneath him. His cock rests against the inner part of your thigh, hard and still throbbing softly every few seconds.
“Mark you?” he repeats your words back to you in question. “How could I, your majesty?”
There is a playful cadence to his tone, very clearly telling you that he will gladly oblige to the idea.
Jake quirks a single eyebrow at you, “And how do you suppose I do so?”
Given the fact that you hadn’t meant to say it, you haven’t thought that far ahead. Visuals of the silver blade of his dagger lightly grazing your skin, replay in your mind. Along with the imagines of bite marks and bruises that you will surely have to find the means of covering.
“Speak up,” he grumbles, lips ghosting over the center of your throat.
You quickly come to the conclusion that you will allow him to do whatever he pleases, as undeniably insane as it is.
“Do what you wish.”
Jake sits up, bold, widened eyes boring directly into yours.
You stare at each other for a few long moments, before you watch the corner of his mouth twitch and curl up into his increasingly familiar smirk.
“Mmm,” he hums in acknowledgement to your words.
Both of his hands smooth over your hips and up to your breasts, where he cups them and brings his mouth down to capture one of your nipples in his mouth.
“Jake,” you whimper, gripping at the firmness of his bare shoulders.
“I refuse to mark you permanently just yet…” Jake says against your skin. His left hand retreats from your chest, palm harshly colliding with your thigh. “Temporarily, of course-“ his palm cracks against you once more, surely leaving a red tint in its wake. “-I suppose, will do for now.”
You inhale and exhale shakily through your mouth; hung open in shock and the slightest hint of pain.
“Take me, please,” you beg him pathetically.
“Take you where, your majesty?” Jake inquires, a teasing inflection to his voice. He knows.
“Right here,” you sigh, pressing your hips up into his. “You know what I want.”
Reaching between your bodies, he glides his fingers in between your folds - still completely soaked.
“Perhaps I do.” He toys around at your entrance, paying your clit the slightest bit of attention afterwards. “There’s a chance that I don’t, though.”
A low, sinister laugh erupts from his chest as he watches you squirm underneath him.
“Tell me, princess,” Jake demands, voice low and raspy. You can feel his cock teasing your entrance, just waiting for you to say the filthy words he wants to hear so badly. “Take. You. Where?”
Pathetic as it may be, a sob tears its way out of your lungs, “Take me right here, please...I want- need you inside of me.”
“She needs it,” he taunts, barely pushing into you. “Sweet little princess just needs to be fucked…turned into a filthy mess.”
“Oh, god- fuck-“ Your nails dig deeper into the skin of Jake’s back.
“Princess is no good for anything but getting ruined by the man she’s supposed to be capturing.” Jake pulls out almost completely, only to drive himself back inside of you roughly.
The moan that rips its way out of your throat is anything but pure and elegant, bouncing around the walls around you and likely beyond.
“Quiet.” Jake places a hand over your mouth, his other holding his body above yours as he starts to sharply thrust into you. “God forbid you get us caught… Get ME caught.”
Jake begins working his way up to a steady, brutal pace. The depths at which you can feel him is sending an almost unbearable pleasure through you. From the center of your body, out to the tips of your fingers and toes; the pleasure completely consumes you.
You can’t help the volume that your moans have taken on.
Jake attempts to silence you by capturing your lips in a hungry kiss, but it proves to be of very, very little help.
He pulls away abruptly, hand wrapping around your throat, “Shut. Your fucking. Mouth, princess. Will you?” He rasps into your ear through gritted teeth. “We can’t possibly have His Majesty hearing how much of a whore you are for a thief.”
Your head lulls back, face contorted in concentration and immense pleasure as Jake continues to fuck into you relentlessly. Mercilessly.
“Good girl,” Jake praises you, starting to lose control of his own breathing.
The hand wrapped around your throat, travels up to your face; a bruising grip forcing you to look at him.
“I want you to cum for me. Quietly,” Jake growls, adjusting himself above you to bring his other hand between your two bodies. His fingers find your swollen clit, “You can do that, yes?”
“Mhm,” you hum your response, afraid that if you are to open your mouth too much, the unholiest of noises are sure to free themselves from your lungs.
“Come on, then,” Jake urges, pinning your body in place on the rather uncomfortable bed with his own. “Let me have it.”
You feel that addicting burn spreading through the pit of your stomach, mere seconds away from taking over your whole body.
As soon as Jake watches your eyes roll back into your head and your mouth fall open into the perfect little ‘o,’ he crashes his lips into yours to ensure that all possible noises are muffled.
Even he groans lowly into your mouth, forcing your to swallow it down as he continues kissing you with mind numbing passion and fervor.
Your lungs start to tingle, your body buzzing and thrashing all at once; riding out an orgasm unlike any you have ever had.
Jake’s orgasm is only seconds after yours. He spills inside you, gasping to refill his lungs with air when he pulls away from you.
“Damn it,” Jake moans. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”
Bliss has overtaken the both of you, leaving you to bask in stunned silence for what felt like an hour.
“I… I must say,” Jake finally speaks up. “You are quite something, your majesty.”
For once, his tone doesn’t have any malicious intent or taunting cadence behind it. It seems genuine.
You gaze up at him, slightly shocked. “Thank you…”
He removes himself from above you, laying to your side closest to the wall, leaving you the space to leave the bed.
Staring up at the ceiling, hands on his chest, he reminds you of his previous promise, “You’re free to go if you please, I shouldn’t keep you here any longer, your majesty…”
You blink a few times, struck speechless by his sudden change. You think over your next decision carefully before speaking.
“I… I think I would like to stay here with you…” You tell him, settling back against the worn blanket.
Jake has turned to look at you, now, “What?”
Moving closer to him, you cuddled into his arm, “I want to stay here with you, Jake.”
<>
You blink a few times, trying to rid your eyes of their sleepiness.
Suddenly, the loud slamming of the cell door startles you nearly senseless. You roll yourself over and sit up, all in almost one swift movement.
“Jacob?!” you yell, anger and fear flooding your entire body as you scramble up to your feet. “What ever do you think you are doing?!”
“No hard feelings, my Darling,” he starts with a faux, pitied smile. “You were absolutely magnificent. I almost brought you along. I’ll let them know to come retrieve you as soon as I step foot back on my ship.”
You mouth falls agape, your chest becoming dangerously tight as it heaves up, then shakily back down.
Jake pulls the key he had stolen from the pocket of your dress out of the lock, taking a few steps backwards before bending down and laying it gingerly on the ground.
He straightens, kicking the key just so. It slides towards the door with a few high pitched clinks, stopping just out of your reach.
Jake smiles brightly, shooting you a sly wink, “If we ever cross paths again, let’s revisit this…escapade, shall we?”

how do i reconcile being religious (catholic specifically) while also being pro-choice? I’m sorry if this sounds like a bait question, it’s not i promise! But recently i’ve been grappling with my faith again and trying to immerse myself with god again and i feel a bit….dissonant i guess? over having strong opinions on abortion and then on the other hand being religious. i don’t feel grief about being pro-choice, it’s something i believe proudly and w integrity. but it seems like i am in between two opposing great forces which demand of me to choose one over the other? do you have any kind words on how i could possibly reconcile with these? thank you x
i just finished writing research close to this topic, specifically on the problem of mary's consent. which of course comes back to issue of bodily autonomy which is central to questions of abortion. and mary is a problem: theology can neither acknowledge the problem of rape nor accept a consenting woman. to not consent is to be raped, to have control over your body, to say "yes," to consent, is to show a yearning for sexual pleasure, for oneness, and to innate acknowledge that a woman has control over her body before Go does. women must be both and neither: that is why we have the virgin mary. according to contemporary understandings of consent, mary simply could not consent: effectively God has autonomy over her body before she does.
the historical mary is a woman: she is jewish, poor, young, unmarried, and pregnant, and is the ultimate embodiment of liberation theology’s “preferential option for the poor.” but she is absolutely absent of any sexuality. when marcella althaus-reid states that poverty is a bodily and sexual matter, mary cannot be included in this statement. mary is never indecent: her existence is pinioned on the concept of her decency. she is the “right” version of all women, the perfect mate for the god-man: she is submissive, and receives him without becoming distracted by the matter of her self-determination. mary is never overcome by a profane hunger. theology requires this ultimate model of femininity to measure against all other women.
elisabeth schussler fiorenza calls attention to the danger to ecclesiastical and political authorities if mary is rendered as a self-determining single mother: a single woman who is “god-empowered, god-protected” and “filled with the holy spirit who exalts the violated and makes the fruit of illegitimacy holy.” if mary was rendered as excitedly or joyfully consenting to the act of impregnation by god, she would not suit the dominant narrative of women’s sexuality in theology: her joy can only be vocalised after she has already submitted to the masculine-penetrative god-man.
a woman who leans into the oneness and pleasure of union with god because it is pleasurable, out of the locus of her body and her sense of self-determination rather than a sense of duty or submission, has no defined place in christian theology. she can only be appropriated and co-opted by dominant patriarchal narratives, talked over, and silenced. a mary who found pleasure and joy in her impregnation, who readily and excitedly agreed to the divine directive in full knowledge of its implications, implies a femininity which cannot be controlled.
i mention mary because mary is the nexus of most catholic arguments about abortion, whether she is specifically named or not. she is the excuse used to block anyone regarded as "receptive" to patriarchy from having control of their body. i personally read the lucan narrative as mary consenting: let what you have said be done to me. this is consent, though we may debate whether or not it was informed or coerced. but i cannot imagine that christ would have come into the world through an unwilling mother. nor does God force belief on those who do not consent to believe: only people, only dogma, forces itself on the unconsenting. so in this way i can say that God cannot exist to us without consent. violation is a human creation: it is humans who violate God at the crucifixion. as such God cannot exist to us without bodily autonymy, without allowing us choice- it is the human creation of fascism which denies choice, and i hold that dimension of denial absolutely separate from God, because it is not part of God. God may be used to excuse it, but God cannot deny the natural choice and autonomy of his creation without also violating his own existence.
as for catholicism, it is old and it loves augustine. the idea that abortion is wrong is a fairly new invention in the cahtolic church and really only comes from fears that all babies are destined to hell. medieval catholicism saw life as beginning at the "quickening," which could mean anything but was seen as the first movement of the child in the womb. quickening was seen as the moment of ensoulment, and church views of abortion dictated that after ensoulment, a baby would be condemned if not baptized. it is this bizarre and exceptionally antiquated view that is the foundation of contemporary abortion debates: but even contemporary ideas of "human at conception" are ludicrous in comparison to how medieval catholicism understood when a person became a person separate from the person of the one bearing it. christianity dispelled with the judaic idea that the mother's life was more important than the fetus: it is typical of christianity to dispel of its own humanity.
effectively what i'm saying is that things change. the church changes: we find ourselves in unfortunate epochs, but the catholic church is prone to evolution and i appreciate that. but i don't feel, in any way, that being pro-choice and being catholic are at odds with each other. your morality is simply beyond where the magisterium can currently gather itself, and that's okay. the church has always been like that and probably always will be. it is the body of believers, those in the grassroots, those out in the world, who matter the most: over and above canon law, since all law (unlike God) is subject to editing and change. maybe that's a bit controversial: i don't believe it is. jesus didn't live in the temple, he lived on the street. he loved his religion, but he also knew that certain aspects did more harm then good. and maybe he felt conflicted over his love for his faith and his conviction about humanity. you walk where he treads: be proud of that.

before anybody has to bleed
"May I suggest, Master, that we give Kenobi one last chance? The support of a Jedi of his integrity would be invaluable in establishing the political legitimacy of our Empire."
"Ah, yes. Kenobi." His Master's voice went silken. "You have long been interested in Kenobi, haven't you?"
"Of course. His Master was my Padawan; in a sense, he's practically my grandson—"
"He is too old. Too indoctrinated. Irretrievably poisoned by Jedi fables. We established that on Geonosis, did we not? In his mind, he serves the Force itself; reality is nothing in the face of such conviction."
— Matthew Stover, Revenge of the Sith novelization

Her comm blinks through the dark.
She’s half asleep, half alert, and thinks it might be a dream – because only one person has the frequency of this particular secure comm device, and he’s never used it, not once.
Until now.
Satine struggles against the duvet for a second before managing to reach the ornate bedside table. She answers the call and sits up, and the last of her dreams leave her.
“Obi?” she says, in quiet disbelief.
“I woke you,” comes the voice from the other end, usually so calm and centered but not so tonight. “Of course, I apologize; my timing is terribly inconvenient – ”
She cuts him off. “That is inconsequential,” she says, shifting her legs so her feet can slide into the slippers next to her bed. She stands and shrugs on a robe. “What has happened? Are you alright?”
Obi-Wan breathes out deeply. “Not in the commonly-used definition of that word,” he eventually says.
Satine waits, knowing if she asks more questions, he’ll give her more non-answers.
“I just returned from Serenno,” he begins, and Satine stills. She reminds herself to keep breathing as he continues. “It was not the original destination I’d been sent, but it became apparent rather quickly that whatever threat the Jedi thought they would address on this mission…it had been manufactured precisely because the Jedi would address it.”
“The Jedi were baited?”
Obi-Wan doesn’t answer right away, and Satine hears sounds of traffic around him, and then the sound of rustling fabric.
“Where are you, Obi?”
“Lower levels of Coruscant,” he says, and she understands immediately what he doesn’t have to say: he can’t be overheard by the Jedi.
Satine bites her lip.
“To answer your question: yes, we were baited. But the bait was specifically for me.” His voice drops in volume. “The leads I had led me to Serenno. I knew why I was going before I set foot on the planet.”
“Risky,” murmurs Satine.
She can hear the wry smile in his voice as he responds, “You would have done the same.”
“Perhaps,” she says. “I assume this was Count Dooku’s plan? Whatever would he want with you?”
Obi-Wan breathes in. “On Geonosis, a couple standard years ago, he…” He clears his throat. “Dooku asked me to join him, to defeat the Sith. He said the Republic was under the control of a Sith lord. A complete lie of course,” he says quickly, as though to convince himself.
Satine hesitates.
“Don’t tell me you believe him?” asks Obi-Wan, incredulously.
“Dooku is a liar,” says Satine firmly. “But that does not mean that every sentence he has ever uttered was false.” She tries to make her tone gentle, but she’s not sure she succeeds. “What else did he tell you on Geonosis?”
She can almost hear his eye roll through the transmission. “That the Dark side has clouded the vision of the Jedi. That the Sith were the root of the corruption in the Senate. That we could weed out the corruption…if I joined him.”
Satine leans against the transparisteel of the door to her balcony, blissfully cool against her hot skin. She feels her heart pulse. “Obviously, you refuted him, or we would not be having this conversation,” she says. “So I presume him luring you to Serenno was more of the same?”
“Precisely,” says Obi-Wan.
“And again, you must have refused. So what do I owe the pleasure of this late call?”
Obi-Wan’s silence slices through her ribcage, piercing her heart.
“You did refuse, did you not?” she whispers.
“I didn’t agree to join him,” hisses Obi-Wan. “But I didn’t refute him, either.”
“Ben…”
“My master trusted this man, Satine. You heard how Qui-Gon spoke about him. And this forsaken war – it drags on. And on. Whenever we feel we are close to ending it, we find out we’ve been outwitted. And even though Dooku was saying more of the same, I began to wonder…could he be right? Is that why we haven’t been able to make headway? Are we being played from the inside?”
“I could have answered that question for you before the Republic joined the war,” says Satine, and she makes no effort to hide her acerbic tone. “All war is a game. There are no winners – just players.”
“I’m well aware of your feelings on the subject,” says Obi-Wan, and it’s clear he doesn’t have time for a lecture. “I called you because I want someone to tell me I haven’t gone mad for considering he might be telling the truth about this.”
The tension leaves her shoulders. “You haven’t gone mad, Obi-Wan,” she says gently.
“Do you think he’s lying?”
Satine closes her eyes. “Would Qui-Gon think it is a lie? What would he tell you to do?”
Obi-Wan half-sighs and half-laughs. “Qui-Gon would tell me to look for the truth, even if the Council are convinced they already know it. He would tell me to look for the truth precisely because the Council are convinced they already know it.”
“He was wise, Obi.”
“I miss him.”
“I do, too.” Satine smiles sadly and opens her eyes. “But he passed that wisdom to you. Use it.”
The disbelief in his tone is clear, despite the static of the transmission. “Are you suggesting I tell Dooku that I accept?”
“In a manner of speaking,” Satine says. “I am suggesting that you present this to the Council, similarly as you did to me – though I would also suggest that less is more with them. Tell them an opportunity has arisen to spy on Dooku. It would not be the first time the Council has tried to gather intelligence on him.”
“You know about that?”
“Asajj Ventress is at the top of most governments’ Most Wanted lists, so yes, we know about that.”
“Never doubt Mandalorian intelligence,” says Obi-Wan, and she knows he’s impressed.
“You need the Council’s support if you are to infiltrate Dooku’s circle,” says Satine. “Mainly, it would be impossible to hide an extended period of absence as this would require. And your former apprentice would probably track you down if he thought something was amiss.”
Obi-Wan chuckles. “You are…not wrong about that.”
“You will need to frame this carefully,” Satine continues. “They will pull you the moment they suspect you think Dooku has made a valid point. They are so focused on not losing the war that they are losing sight of how best to end it.”
He is quiet for some time, and Satine listens to him breathe.
Then, he says, “I fear I am as well.”
“That fear is why you are not, you know.”
She suspects he’s smiling, just a little. “The war must end,” he says. He’s on the move again, and the sounds of the city around him almost drown out his words. Satine strains to hear. “So that there can be an after.”
Satine has indulged herself of countless plans for this after, from abdicating her title and facilitating free elections to retiring to Kalevala. She knows Obi-Wan would have made a fine Duke Consort, though he would have despised it, and that was only one of the many advantages that had occurred to her of abdication.
She thinks he too, perhaps, dreams of such a life.
“Obi,” says Satine, pulling him back to her. “Do not forget whose side you are on.”
His reply is immediate, his calm palpable.
“Yours, Satine. I’m on your side, and it would be nigh impossible to forget that.”

This is my absolute favorite scene in RE3R.
Reaches out a hand to him in concern.
Her hesitance to shoot him.
And I always wondered why something so sickly in nature felt so heartwarming to me.
It’s personal
We are able to get into Jill’s mind and truly figure out how she’s feeling, just like in the beginning of the game, there's another dream sequence. The dream sequence that is played at the beginning of the game starts with Jill in her room. Jill makes her way into the bathroom and looks herself into the mirror. Suddenly, she turns into a zombie.
Then she pulls the trigger.
This is obviously a reference to the Spencer Mansion incident, as she clearly has unresolved feelings from that very night. But what I find interesting is what both the hospital dream and this dream have in common. I don’t think that the two dreams are similar in a way that they both deal with the Spencer mansion(safe for the bathroom dream), it’s because-
Jill and Carlos turn into zombies.
I think that the hospital dream signifies something else. They both end up losing control over themselves and succumb to whatever virus that they have. Jill shoots herself, Carlos attacks Jill, they both are sudden and unexpected. The fact that she’s having this dream means she is scared, not only for herself but for Carlos. Since he’s present in her dream, it’s obvious that she’s awaiting his arrival.
The question is, how’d she know Carlos was the one who brought her into the hospital? Well, she had to have been semi-conscious as he hoisted over to safety.
“You’re gonna be okay, I promise.” Probably rang in her head the whole time. So she wasn't completely unconscious enough not to pick up on that. She could understand that he was going to help her, but most likely just didn’t know exactly how.
Initially thought Tyrell gave her the vaccine, since he was the only one she saw as she woke up.
Face of realization.
At this point, she asks herself, “Oh, he did all of that?”
That promise clearly meant a lot to Jill. That time she was sitting in that hospital bed, she had subconsciously made that notion that she could finally trust Carlos. Although there is another moment when trust was tested.
Before Jill boarded the subway(this is before the hospital section), Carlos saves Jill yet again from Nemesis, he’s actually the only one to go out and save her. So this moment was significant for both of them. Interestingly enough, Jill didn’t like Carlos touching her at the start of the game, now at this point. She actually welcomes it, of course there wasn’t much time for question as they now both became the target to Nemesis at that point since it’s clear that they had to haul ass. Not only does she welcome it, but she also actually initiates the contact herself.
After escaping Nemesis, the two have a brief yet very telling exchange.
Right here, right here is where their relationship completely shifts. She’s quite literally telling him, “I'm ready to make amends with you.” This is where Jill finally lets herself have an open mind to Carlos. She gives herself a chance to accept him. The lie that Jill initially believed that Carlos was not someone who she could find alliance in, then this lie gets tested once the event described above happens. Accepting Carlos, meant that she had to shove past her bias against him and see him for who he truly is. He didn’t have to tell his team to wait for her, as she was the only one out there alive and basically used herself for bait. Yet, he did, he came back for her as she radioed him out of sheer panic.
This even comes from Carlos’ side as well, he admires her for altruism because he too, also genuinely cares about the people, they both have that common goal.
“You’ll be safe.”
As a U.B.C.S. it may be his job to protect people, but with Jill it’s different. He felt the need to announce that Jill specifically would be safe. There’s some hidden meaning behind this, why he felt like he had to say it. He wants her to know that he cares about her too. And you can tell that he’s pretty happy that she had revelation with him.
This moment is also sincere because it shows depth in Jill’s character and their relationship overall, Jill can find the strength to forgive and accept someone. But, just because someone accepts you, that does not immediately mean that they trust you.
Like acceptance, trust is normally built through a bond. Yet, having trust with someone is a closeness with each other, when you trust someone you can put your life on them. When you accept someone you can fully embrace their differences with you. This is why I think her trust came later, because it truly meant something once the “find and detain” mission for Dr. Bard became “find and obtain”(Vaccine). Once Jill was infected, that was all Carlos could worry about, trudging through hordes of zombies just to secure a vaccine, all just for one woman he had only known for hours.
His desperation truly showed by the way he laid her ass down into the hospital bed after finally obtaining the vaccine.
Gingerly turns her over
Desperately wanting her to come to.
Carlos hung his head low. He couldn’t think of anything else but Jill, and even waited for her just to wake up. Almost as if he was guarding her.
And him immediately springing up, proves how deep in thought he was as he instinctively pointed his gun towards the door.
Regardless, just because something is intimate, that does not mean that it is always romantic, neither does that negate any possibilities as such. Intimacy is a shared closeness with another person.

how do you think Emma (post cannon or otherwise) and ashye would interact? I don’t think Ashye would hate her just because she’s Norman’s friends since she gets along with Ray in the side story decently enough
Ayshe definitely wouldn't hate Emma. While being raised by a demon, she's not misanthropic; she just hates a specific group of people.
I talk about this on my Gildayshe musings post and this recent poll, but the first conversation Ayshe has with Don and Gilda has them reacting like this:
(Chapter 139)
After she just told them Norman was behind her father's murder—someone who was her whole world—they're in tears at the thought of not being in conflict with him. Even when considering the possibility that Norman ultimately plans to kill Sonju and Mujika after they bring them to the paradise hideout, if there's a chance of negotiating with him, they'll take it.
It goes even further when Norman betrays them and uses them as bait just like they suspected in chapter 135.
(Chapter 144)
Gilda still pleads with Mujika, after Norman just tried to have her and Sonju—her companion of 700 years—killed, to help them stop Norman before things become irrevocable for him and everyone around him. She still considers him her older brother after all of that. Don looks empathetic and in agreement with her while Ayshe is left in open-mouthed shock, because she could understand if Gilda didn't want anything to do with him at this point.
But she also understands family, and her new companions have made it clear that her father's murderer is still important to them. She doesn't begrudge them for it.
(Chapter 167)
And she doesn't hesitate to save them when they return to Grace Field.
She has known them for ten days.
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 7)
Within the span of four days, she's willing to have this conversation with Ray:
(Chapter 169)
This is after Emma has made it clear how close she and Ray are with Norman:
(Chapter 161)
She's conciliatory to Don and Gilda when she says "it's true that he ate humans, but to me, he was my father" and here. Despite acknowledging that familial connection she feels toward him, she gives all of them an out. 'You don't have to spare my feelings. I understand why humans hate demons.' Knows most demons wouldn't think twice about eating her if given the opportunity. She's downcast and gives a light sigh of resignation because she's aware of how bizarre this would look to another human. They can conceptually see why she feels the way she does, but not how profound that loss is for her, so she'd rather skip the attempt at sympathy.
It's why she's so shocked at Ray's blunt declaration reaffirming her love for her father as valid and gives her full attention to him in earnest. She follows it up by saying their parents were also good people.
Given their prominence in the story since the start, I'm fairly confident the figures on the left and bottom center are Norman and Don respectively so all five of the oldest Grace Field kids are included here and poignantly attached to her sentiment. It's possible she's lying to Ray to be reciprocally kind or mentally separating the kids into differing levels of good with Norman at the bottom to still technically qualify him, but with less reason to lie to him between the validation of her feelings and the intimacy of the setting I'm disinclined to believe the former, and with the latter he's still included regardless.
(Chapter 181)
With all that in mind in addition to how she's willing to let Norman and Vincent hold her dogs' puppies post-timeskip, it would be very bizarre for Ayshe to hate Emma. If anything she'd think Emma's too good for Norman lol
I also imagine there would be a lot of overlap between how she interacts with Emma and Ray.
(TPN Light Novel 4: Films of Memories - “Don and Gilda”)
She reacts this strongly to Don and Gilda even thinking about being burdens in the post-canon. Despite lacking those memories, there are still convictions she holds that are etched into her very being. If she was given a rundown of Ayshe's history, she'd also conclude that her father's species was irrelevant if he saved her and provided her with unconditional love, possibly more forcefully than Ray. It wouldn't come as a surprise to Ayshe, given her interactions with all the other Grace Field children at this point, but it'd be comforting all the same, that reinforcement of why Emma's friends and family cared so deeply for her and spent years searching for her. There was never really tension between them, but it makes Ayshe feel more at ease around her all the same.
I'm also a very big proponent of wlw Ayshe, so I enjoy @dyslexicsponge's take of her having a crush on Emma (intimidating Norman by going to hang out with him because he's so obvious about his crush on Emma and Ayshe's so smitten she doesn't know who else she could possibly commiserate with optional lol).

i forgor i had this in my docs bc i was too focused on my guardian angel au… um this is based on that one angelic blood = drug fic w the straw (WOW HOW SPECIFIC) :’)) the premise was supposed to be jealous lucifer baiting alastor w his blood the entire time,, i’m posting the start here bc i still find it rlly cute but im not sure abt finishing it… it’s unedited also so just a head’s up 😔🫶
Warnings: blood drinking, drug use, mild cannibalism, domestic fluff
Lucifer and Alastor’s little understanding does not prevent their bickering. If anything, their understanding just makes the bickering even more frequent! Alastor just exists to irritate him no matter what, apparently beyond amused by his annoyance and proud at his ability to tick him off.
(“Did you really have to put my blood in a toy teacup?”
“It’s classy! Besides, Nifty gave it to me. Who would I be if I were to not use such an auspicious gift? Look. It even matches your eyes! Ah, ah, ah. Kindly please don’t melt the teacup, Lucifer.”)
Charlie thinks that their interactions are sweet and that she’s glad that they’re getting along, but Lucifer would like to disagree. They can barely stand to be in the same room apart from feedings at night where he can cling to Alastor as much as he wants, relishing in the free physical intimacy and comfort that the radio demon provides while he eats.
(“You’re squeezing my ribs too hard.”
“You’re literally eating my shoulder. If anyone has a right to complain, it’s me!”)
It makes Lucifer feel less lonely about Lilith leaving him as he finds comfort in Alastor. He knows very clearly that Alastor mostly sees him as a food source, the king of hell that lives right across the hall, and Charlie’s dead beat dad, but it’s fine. Alastor can be strangely sweet at times, even if he shows them in unconventional ways.
(“Here! I have made you some dinner. It’s very delicious, so you can stop eating those pancakes now.”
“Oh, thanks? But why?”
“Your blood sugar is too high during feedings. It leaves a taste.”)
Besides, even if whatever they have can be strange to him, Lucifer is okay with it. He knows that, in some way, he’s special to him. Alastor very rarely allows people to touch him, especially so closely (only his friends he’s had for years, even Charlie at times, but never men, for some reason). He knows that he holds Alastor’s respect and it bothers him whenever Lucifer says something condescending or doesn’t pay attention to him (Alastor likes the attention and the ability to hear the sound of his own voice, but Lucifer honestly just thinks he’s a narcissist).
However, it’s Lucifer’s blood that he’s really after. As the only Seraphim in the Pride Ring—and Hell itself—Alastor understands that being able to drink so freely from him and so often is something he won’t easily trade away. It leads to Alastor being especially territorial over him, especially when eating, and Lucifer—while fully capable of protecting himself—finds himself with a more than capable bodyguard. It also provides some assurance that Alastor keeps Charlie and the Hazbin Hotel in his best interests.
Their understanding is unconventional and manipulative on both sides, but it’s nice to have and the security is comforting.
Until that security is threatened.
((By the way, the angelic blood = drug fic series mentioned is the one with Snake in the Grass, Apple of My Eye, and the Silly Straw, which are all by anon.))

While I can understand people being frustrated with Alicent’s writing this season, I do have to admit that some people seem to take it a little bit too far. Like I literally had to leave the green Reddit because people were being straight up nasty towards Alicent.
So people can still enjoy Aegon and Aemond despite the shit writing they’ve been given but fans aren’t allowed to like Alicent anymore? Again, I understand people not being happy with the writing for Alicent (trust me im pissed too) but idk some of things said makes me uncomfortable.
I don’t know, I feel like as an alicent fan (and even as an alicole shipper) the fandom just feels… less inviting know, ya know? I now just enjoy her S1 and book characterization but seeing how much hate Alicent is getting honestly makes me both sad and mad cause it means that Ryan Condal making her a rage bait this season essentially worked.
Sorry if im bothering you, i just needed to vent to someone😅
Her writing this entire season has definitely just been rage bait and it's working for both her critics and her fans.
For me, it's just completely turned me away from the show, and particularly the Dragonstone scene in the finale is the last straw in terms of her character being completely ruined. This writing choice has made her objectively one of the most pathetic and despicable characters in my opinion in ways that the real Alicent is not. I've kind of separated her characterization this season and particularly the finale, which is ultimately rage-inducing and worthy of criticism, from her real character that exists in the books and was hinted at in moments in season 1.
Her show character is not something I can enjoy at all post-Dragonstone, and while the character assassination has been strong for show Aemond and show Aegon (and all the other Greens), it has yet to be so completely illogical that it absolutely breaks the story and character and the role they play in the story. So this might be where other people are coming from when they say they can be fans of other Greens but not Alicent anymore.
I'm just checked out and can't even go along with the idea that any version of Alicent would do what she does because it goes completely against everything essential to her character. If I was still able to have immersion in the story and the ability to try to think through or justify her choices and motivation or find any connection or coherency in her character change over time, I might have more to say about her, but that's gone for me. It is just so transparent what the writers are trying to do with her, the Greens, and the Blacks that I no longer have any buy-in with this show as something that feasibly could exist in-universe. It's like I can see the writers manipulating and changing the story so strongly to fit their specific vision in every scene that I can't even view the story or characters independently from that anymore.
So yeah, I'm not a show Alicent fan anymore (nor am I a show fan after this). But book Alicent will always be supreme. That's the real Alicent. And I prefer the book versions of basically every other character as well.
I suppose people can still be a fan of show Alicent and try to justify her choices, but it definitely will continue to get harder and harder to defend her because the writers are clearly and so transparently determined to completely humiliate and butcher her character to uplift Rhaenyra and fans will be continue to be critical of her because of this targeted writing, unfortunately.
And the sad result is the fandom will just get more toxic 😓 take care out there and definitely feel free to avoid spaces that are getting too hostile or leaning into the misogynistic hate that the writers are inviting fans to direct at Alicent through their misogynistic writing.

It’s wild to me how many r*ylos are in “established” fan positions and so many of them are having interviews with Lesyle and actual Star Wars creators. And I know because I see them on Twitter and they always ask about osha x Qimir and make their headlines specifically about that ship
Anyways the reason why I brought this up is because she yet again mentions that OSHA and Qimir are equals. I really don’t get it because it felt clear he’s manipulating her. Is she doing some kind of bait and switch? Does she genuinely believe this? I’m confused and I’m actually a little scared for the finale lol. I was happy for manny getting a prominent role but if his role is now kylo but poc idk death would be kinder for qimir
Yeah, that's the power of racism and white women lmao. Nearing ten years of what was originally a crackship and they produce the same bland hegemonic takes that they did in 2015.
The most diverse Star Wars show to date and the "gayest star wars show" has a significant portion of its audience's energy going towards a cishet ship that's just a non-white rehash of straightest, whitest ship in Star Wars history. A cishet, white relationship rife with problems was the inspiration for the main romantic pairing. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover how I feel.
Osha and Qimir...I can see how they're not as bad as reylo, but it's still like they're saying nothing. Osha was once a Jedi, but we haven't seen any lightsaber skills from her and she struggled to use the Force the one time she did attempt it back in episode one. Yeah, the ship was there, but it was across part of an ocean and high tide was coming in and we don't know how strong a swimmer Osha is. Yes, Qimir was totally naked and thus vulnerable, but he's still a skilled fighter. How do we know he wouldn't be able to evade or disarm Osha? use the Force on her to shove her away or freeze her? How many times did we see Osha miss her target already by this point?
People who insist he isn't manipulating her, Headland included, kind of confuse me. They seem to think manipulation can only happen through lies and deceit. You can manipulate someone with the truth -- preying on someone's insecurities, fears, or misgivings with the specific intention of leading them somewhere that's not good for the is manipulation in my book. It's like those "friends" who say your family hates you (true) and we like you (also true) so you should hang with US while we rob a bank. Qimir says something along the lines of the Jedi thinking only their way of understand the Force is the right way (true) but then even while acknowledging that, he implies/outright says (I realy can't remember, sorry) his version of freedom in the Force is the ideal one. The dark side is freeing.
I don't know if this is just Qimir talking or if Leslye herself thinks there are pros to the dark side that the Jedi aren't considering. As many problems as I have with her, I don't think she'd say all of that. Some reylos and their adjacents in the audience are definitely saying that. But people keep forgetting that the thing with the dark side, whether you think it's a power-boosting poison or a pool you end up drowning in or anything else, is that it's corrosive. It corrupts. There is no good that can be found or had or really done with the dark side. The entire point is that it consumes and its selfish and arrogant and violent and greedy and the Sith code was based on mein kampf lmao.
People insist that there has to be nuance with the light/dark side distinction, but the way they go about applying this "nuance" is by making the Dark Side less than what it should be. Not saying leslye is doing this btw again like Force philosophy is not my strongsuit, I'm talking about the audience now. But they say "oh, well, what if you were freed by the dark side." Nobody can truly be freed by it, that's the point, everyone who joins up with it is either wildly power-hungry and destructive or deeply traumatized and not coping with it or both. The nuance about the Force isn't/shouldn't be (at least, not to me) "We need both the light side and the dark side in order to achieve equilibrium". Remember that the dark side advocates for killing innocent people! Hurting people! Chaos and pain and destruction!
The nuance should be understand why people might choose the dark side but not condoning it or saying that well then the dark side can't really be that bad. the nuance with the force, the balance with the force, should be a healthy mix of every emotion (yes, even the negative ones. sadness helps you move past things and anger can be righteous and push you to correct a vile wrong). you're not totally detached but you don't also give in to every single feeling and you don't let the negative ones eat you alive, like anger. Moderation! Balance! Being normal, really, if you think about it!
But again this shit isn't my strongsuit. Reylos are getting their way and its ruining star wars, etc etc etc. Nothing I haven't said before. Wish we could get a good idea with good writing in star wars instead of derivatives and rewrites. How many star wars shows have been created to justify and explain some aspect of the ST by now? The final season of TM, TBB, Ahsoka maybe (I haven't seen it)? And now this. And they're not even saying anything with Oshamir.

The harry potter discourse annoys me
Like “the game is offensive” okay and how does harassing and suicide baiting, or assuming the worst out of people who like it, especially trans and jewish folk who like it, help?
And don’t even get me started on the people getting hate for using it to cope with their mental health problems
I’ll start with the disclaimer that harassment and suicide baiting is never okay from any side. If you see someone playing the game then simply block them because at this point if they’re playing the game and promoting it in social media then they already know about the issues and are willing to let them slide so it’s not worth engaging.
However you seem to misunderstand something here. The biggest issue isn’t that “the game is offensive” (although it certainly is). The issue is that the money is going directly toward the oppression of trans people in the UK.
The Harry Potter game isn’t the only offensive game to exist and JKR isn’t the only bigot out there. However people either don’t understand or don’t care about just how influential she is. It’s not just her spouting transphobia on twitter and writing bigotry into her stories. The money she gets from her Harry Potter properties she uses to directly fund anti-trans legislation in her country.
Were you aware that at the start of the year Scotland was set to pass a bill to help transgender people in their country? It would have incredibly eased the struggle trans people go through to transition legally and be recognized as their gender by the law. It was passed through by the Scottish Parliament! But then the UK for the first time in history used their veto power to block this law from going into practice. This is the sort of legislative decision making that your money is going to when you buy the game. Because JKR talked extensively on how against this bill she was. And JKR has outright said that she takes the continued monetary support of Harry Potter as support and agreement to her ideals and she uses that money to donate to organizations and back lawmakers and fund legislative decisions such as this.
Anti-trans sentiment is at an all time high in the UK. Shortly after the game came out there was an article about a trans girl who was murdered by two of her classmates for being trans. These were highschoolers. The rhetoric that is being spread in the UK right now is literally life or death for trans people.
I get that people have an attachment to this series from before it was clear what a horrible person the creator is. I get that some of those people struggle with their mental health or are trans or Jewish themselves. But it’s not about them being comfortable with letting it slide. It’s specifically about the trans people fighting for their lives in the UK.
It doesn’t matter how many trans people from outside the UK say they’re fine with playing the game and giving JKR money. They aren’t the ones being directly harmed by this. It’s only up to those in the UK that JKR is legally fighting against to determine where the line is drawn. And an overwhelming majority have begged people not to buy this game. To not play and promote it on social media for others to see and decide to buy.
There are so many other incredible series out there to discover and fall in love with. And even if you decide you wont do the work to separate yourself from this series, there are plenty of ways to indulge without giving money to its creator. Read or write fanfiction, draw art, start a roleplaying blog, whatever! This game is in no way a need, even for those who feel they rely on the series for their mental health. It is purely a want and buying the game is a decision that your want is more important than the fight for trans rights in the UK. If that’s your prerogative then that’s your decision to make. And while you shouldn’t be harassed for it you should know that it’s the choice your making and people have a right to lose respect for you or cut you out for it.
#mod noodle#suicide baiting mention tw#suicide mention#harassment mention#transphobia mention#death mention#murder mention#hp legacy#asks#wow this thing got hella long#love that I’ve been a ghost for the longest time and I pop in for this#noodle is always here for discourse it seems

Hi I’m curious what exactly do you mean by bingmei being extremely good at communication? I haven’t read sv in quite some time and don’t remember many of his interactions with anyone other than sqq
Oh goody, I have validation to discuss this! First and foremost, I am studying western communication so I will be doing more general explanations when discussing theories. Second, the translated work I will be discussing is the Scum Villain Self Saving System; Seven Seas Entertainment translation. This is for clarification purposes on examples I will be using to explain what I mean. As for person being studied, I will only be discussing Lou Binghe's (Bingmei for the majority) communication style.
Alright, first off we will be discussing how Lou Binghe speaks to others. This is important because not all communication is *verbal* communication. Going in a chronological order for LBH's communication towards SQQ we see a very specific communication verbal style. LBH uses I-messages (or owned messages) to specifically state how he feels and how he hopes to fix or continue this in the future. Not unusual for students to use towards their teachers, as this is polite to do. However we can see that this continues even as LBH get's angrier with SQQ.
In the very first meeting, SQQ asks how LBH is doing with his cultivation and LBH says, "This disciple is stupid and still...failed to understand." (pg. 30, book 1) which is a perfect example of the I-message set up LBH has. "This disciple" is a statement of possession in his wording, what he is saying is that this statement is true of his own knowledge. "is stupid" is the modifier of this statement and "failed to understand" is the content. Essentially he is purposefully giving a statement that is non aggressive in communication theory of interpersonal relationships. Later, during the carriage incident before the Skinner Demon arc LBH also gives a non-aggressive statement towards Ming Fan "I wouldn't dare" (pg. 53, Book 1). This being another I-statement (added as it is known that SQQ is watching).
"Ning Yingying-shijie went with me to the city's market earlier today, Luo Binghe said. "Once evening fell, I urged Shijie to return, but she refused--then somehow she suddenly vanished. This disciple...searched the entire street once but couldn't find her, and he could only come to plead with Shizun for help."
This is another good example of said I-message use, LBH (even panicked) starts this by explaining the I-message owners (the people who know this info) and says "Ning Yingying-shijie" and "me" in a non aggressive statement opener. By then continuing to explain the situation and modified the information by his own feelings on the matter. By stating that evening fell and that she vanished, he is giving information (content) to SQQ but modifies it by stating that LBH "urged Shijie to return" and "searched" and "plead" he is modifying the information to suggest that he did his best and needs help in a non threatening manner. Another example of this is during the Skinner incident aftermath, where LBH asks SQQ if he may know the reason SQQ used him as bait. Upon given the promise that he would not die, he states, "If this disciple could give up his life for Shizun, it would be an honor." Once again this is a modified statement meant to be nonthreatening in communication theory. Now that we have gone over this era of LBH, lets jump to Meng Mo to explore the Dream sequence verbal communication.
A slight variation from the previous Communication! This era of LBH has made an assumption over SQQ's past actions and now is a tad looser than previous communication events. Instead of being timid with his questions, LBH specifically asks every single question he can to SQQ to verify whats happening and to gather more information. He continues, however to use the same I-mesage format for most sentences towards SQQ. Any and all variation of these statements are towards enemies (Sha Hauling's Demons, and Meng Mo) and when SQQ is harmed. LBH will give more aggressive statements that *demand* information, but rarely does he insult or do anything more aggressive than that in speech. The only times he has done so at this point are in defense of SQQ's life, as at that point he had been under the assumption he was dying. Skipping waaay ahead lets discuss verbal communication in the Abyss scene, as everything up to this point is very similar and does not have an emotional charge to it that would suggest a change in speech.
Noticeably, his speech pattern doesn't change but we get a new message type in this! A you-message are usually aggressive in communication style as you are stating something about someone else that might not be true, however in this instance it is a true statement. Probably implying that LBH would not have stated such a thing if he was not sure of what he was saying about SQQ. He states, "But Shizun, you said before that just as people can be good or bad, demons can be good or evil" which is a you-message with the content being people and demons with modifier being good, bad, and evil. Hes basically using past words to clarify an assumption in this instance, which isn't necessarily a wrong thing to do but there are better ways to ask this. He even continues this by saying, "But you said..." at a later part. Ending this scene he says, "Shizun, do you really want to kill me?" all around this scene is a rather good example of what I mean by LBH being a good communicator! Hes sticking to asking clarifying statements, and using I-messages to explain whats going on. Not only that, but hes not in the wrong for this scene and doesnt know that SQQ is agreeing with him in his mind. (pp. 248-249, book 1).
Lets skip to the next book and discuss the Jinlan City incident. Which I can say with immediate disdain, is when Xin Mo comes out to play in LBHs speech patterns. Before the abyss, LBH used a lot of I-messages and only stated things he knew to be true about himself (what he felt) and what he knew about others (information shared or told to him by said individual). Afterwards, due to both Xin Mo and trauma, we have an individual who uses a lot more you-messages and makes a lot more assumptions about individuals around him. He still asks a lot of clarifying questions/statements however, and even makes some of his more aggressive you statements tilted in such a way that SQQ could deny it.
Examples of what I just said appear in the chase scene: "No, I should say, a relentless hatred towards me." (pg. 54, book 2). and "Does Shizun honestly think that I would kill, burn, massacre cities, and inevitably topple countries just because of that half of my lineage?" (pg. 55, Book 2)
Its also the first time we get something new new from LBH, he starts insulting people in book 2! Towards SQQ he says, "Utter hypocrisy!" which is a major first for a lot of LBHs speech patterns. If he did insult people before this, he did so in a polite conventional way (email style lmao). Speeding up to get to the prison scene, there are more notable moments in the accusation stage where LBH continues to use more you messages to state what he does know about SQQ. This reads more along the lines as a defense, and a way to subtly imply that he wants to make sure he wasn't misunderstanding SQQ previously. As all you message statements he uses tend to be more questioning in nature (unless about how LBH was treated or taught by SQQ specifically).
In the prison scene, LBH states direct facts to LPM (its in a month, what are you doing, etc.) while towards SQQ he asks more clarifying questions about why he did what he did and what he wants. Its only after being refused answers that he reverts back to using more I-messages. "I knew the answer, but I still asked Shizun. I'm so stupid." (pg. 100, book 2) (Again with the stupid comment, it would appear to be a theme).
In the confrontation on rooftop scene, a tad too long for me to quote if we wish to get to emotional bids and nonverbal communication in this post, LBH is spitting mad and Xin Mo is active to an absurd degree because of backlash. This also has an affect on LBH! (something I will continue to point out because I am losing my mind over fanfic after fanfic acting like LBH is always yandere girlfriend mode 24/7. Hes not!!! Its literally Xin mo!!) He states his feelings over his past, and what he felt towards SQQ at that moment in mostly aggressive style communication. This being a lot of yous and a lot of accusation speech. This leads to the explosion and Xin Mo being cleared from LBH. He almost immediately starts using only I-messages again and clearly goes into shock, but he does revert back from you messages at this point.
Ironically, I found that when LBH is talking to himself (presumably) he only uses you messages because he thinks hes talking out what he knows to himself. As such, he does not worry about being polite at all before he kisses SQQ in his dreams. Its only after that he uses an I-message towards SQQ, and its more or a clarification statement. At around this point in the novel we get a healthy does of what a stable Xin Mo carrying LBH, and its someone who uses equal amount of you and I messages.
Going to book 3, we'll just go over his ending monologue/breakdown because. Listen, we're a few pages into this and I highly doubt anyones going to read this far. I feel like Peerless Cucumber absolutely wailing about PIDW latest chapter, this is an absurd post.
Anyway, towards absolute desolation, we will start discussing this segment with "Is that so? But I don't trust Shizun anymore." (pg. 287, book 3). Almost every line in this segment is a picture perfect communication breakdown on what and why LBH feels the way he does in an interpresonal relationship. He specifically states how he feels about SQQ, how this happened, why this feeling specifically, and what this means for them now. He then states how he feels about himself, and why! This is very important, because this is the basis of solid verbal communication. LBH even states how they can continue and how all this can be fixed. Of course, none of this is healthy but hey! It's theoretical good communication, not healthy communication (the major issue I see in this fandom is differentiating the two). It's after this last breakdown that he defaults to I-messages for the majority of the Ridge arc. It becomes more childish as time goes on, I will admit, but Xin Mo is full influence on LBH at this moment in time. It's after the papapa to save the world that we see something interesting, LBH goes back almost fully to just I-message speech pattern. This is notable because this is after everything intense happened and he has had time to think it over. Before now, when left to his own devices and forced to reckon with SQQ almost dying he would revert to you-message centric speech patterns but this is after Xin Mo. Since this is no longer a factor, LBH has taken to falling back towards his disciple era speech patterns. Basically, LBH has begun to take on a healthier and theoretical amazing communication technique because this is forcing SQQ (and others) to acknowledge the scenario and feelings of the matter.
Now getting onto Emotional bids! This is something LBH does almost the entire three books, any and all times LBH has stated "Shizun" by itself was an emotional bid. (emotional bids being an act or word usage to get your relationship pattern to acknowledge you or to showcase that they care about you). It's important to note that LBH's main way of emotional bids is verbal, he almost never goes the physical route for emotional bids. Yes, he does use physical means to make SQQ pay attention to him but this is more along the lines of staying in the conversation than acknowledging LBH specifically as someone SQQ cares for. Its only during the hand holding time that LBH uses an emotional bid in such a way, its also why it hurt LBH a lot more when SQQ seemingly turned away from it. Of LBH and SQQ, LBH uses the most emotional bids and lets SQQ respond to them in anyway. SQQ is, however, an idiot and doesn't notice most of them or actively misreads them. Its actually funny how many times I can count an emotional bid that SQQ ignores in a chapter (more than 10).
Nonverbal communication, ah how I hate thee in this instance, it covers 60-90% of human communication. LBH is more of a verbal communicator but also does use haptics and proxemics to communicate. Touch and distance, he uses these to insinuate different scenes and feelings on SQQ as a whole. Basically, LBH uses verbal communication to clarify but uses touch and distance to set tone for this communication exchange.
Now, what does LBH do wrong in communication? Strangley enough he does one thing very wrong despite the fact that he asks for clarification communication a lot. He mind reads (the act of assuming what someone is thinking) a lot because of the mixed signals he gets from SQQ. SQQ lacks the ability to verbally communicate certain things because of the system, this makes LBH have to decode a lot of nonverbal communication in hopes of understanding things. He fails. A lot. This is fair to him, but this is the main problem that facilitates the miscommunication of the entire series. Both LBH and SQQ think they know the other better than they do, and thus lead to problems when they actually do try to communicate with the other. Frustrating! I know!
TLDR; LBH as a whole is a theoretical good communicator with a slight assumption problem, but I didn't say that its healthy communication :3
#svsss#scum villian self saving system#lou binghe#luo bingmei#Sweet potato binghe#Im so sorry how long this got I was very excited and only could discuss LBHs communication :(((#Give me time and I could also do SQQ whos AWFUL at communicating to an absurd degree#one of his main problems is that he uses I messages to lie about himself its wild#Anyway I hope this explained what I was thinking??? Fair warning I tried to explain what certain things meant but if it doesnt make sense#this is something that can be looked up online as long as you end the item with communication#because I-messages communication will pop up with description if needed#also this focuses on interpersonal relationship communication I didnt even touch media communication#hehehe I like it when silly guys are good at communicating its wild#answered ask#ah fuck forgot to mention this has no extras in it because I havent read them yet forgive me
