February... happened. I unfortunately had Covid for most of it. Valentine's Day hit me hard emotionally. And I've been feeling the need for expression and release. This has led to some writing, but also a lot of crying and self-reflection. These favorites helped to get me through.
Palia: Palia is a great game to play while deliriously sick. But also, I've gotten so attached to this world and these characters. Little things like: Nai'o spending time with his brother, Ashura talking about his tragic past, Chayne talking about memories with his dads, and Reth's reaction when I gave him a heartdrop lily. 🥲 You could easily miss some of the sweet moments if you skip though dialogue too quickly or neglect to read your letters, but if you invest a bit of yourself, there's depth to be found. And though it may sound cheesy, I actually feel welcomed in this little community in ways I've never felt in real life.
Persona 3 Reload: I never quite finished the original Persona 3. Well, P3 FES, which I was playing just before Persona 5 came out. And I ended up switching to that. Which I also didn't finish because then Final Fantasy XV came out. Yes, I have a bad habit of not finishing games. 😅 Anyhow, I am loving this visual upgrade to the game and the updates to the gameplay systems. Everything about the game is sleek and stylish. And I'm loving being back!
Sims: When I've felt up to being on the computer, my attention has been consumed by Sims again. I've been playing a lot. Posting to the Simblr. (Well, queueing to the Simblr.) And just really enjoying everything to do with the game again.
Dance Academy: I love this show so much. I've mentioned it a few times over the last year or so, and don't know if I have more to say than that. But yeah. One of my favorites, for sure. And I'm currently re-healing the heartbreak of the last few episodes of season 2. 💔
Music Favs: Beloved (Say Lou Lou), What If I Love You (Gatlin), Goodbye (Calica), Ceilings (Lizzy McAlpine), The Creationist (Kerli), Tell Me Where It Hurts (Garbage), Broken Open (Adam Lambert), Siren (CLAVVS), Deep Blue Sea (Melanie Horsnell).

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME - PERCY/NICO AU HIGH SCHOOL - CHAPTER XXIII
Hi, how are you? Things are going well, aren't they? I've decided to set a day for posting this story, (at least for the next few weeks) starting on Tuesdays from next week. Sometimes I don't have much energy at the beginning of the week, so just to be sure, we'll meet on Tuesdays. Oh, and if you can, give me a helping hand on:
Tapas - (Original version) and on AO3 for a cleaner version.
Good reading!
CHAPTER I / CHAPTER II / CHAPTER III / CHAPTER IV / CHAPTER V / CHAPTER VI / CHAPTER VII / CHAPTER VIII / CHAPTER IX / CHAPTER X / CHAPTER XI / CHAPTER XII / CHAPTER XIII / CHAPTER XIV / CHAPTER XV / CHAPTER XVI / CHAPTER XVII / CHAPTER XVIII / CHAPTER XIX / CHAPTER XX / CHAPTER XXI / CHAPTER XXII
Percy felt like a criminal. He was fully aware that he shouldn't have gone to see Apollo and Vanessa without his parents' permission. After all, technically, he was still 17 and wouldn't be considered an adult for another two months. His only option was to sneak around the house. He hid in the servants' entrance and only moved when he saw no one around. He passed through the kitchen and then ran upstairs, hearing his mother's voice and Nico's in the living room. It was a shame. If Nico was still asleep, he could finally do what he had to do before his mother convinced him against it.
Honestly? Sally was right. They shouldn't mess around with certain things, especially since they were too young and because, according to the law, they wouldn't be responsible if something went wrong. But... if Nico had already practiced this kind of dynamic with other people and he too was up to his neck in it, what was wrong with rushing things? Just a little? It would be just enough to reassure Nico who was determined to drive him crazy.
Really, Percy had no choice. It was the worst kind of feeling to see Nico begging for attention as if Percy was ignoring him on purpose; and if that was what Nico wanted, at least Percy would do it the right way. Like, he had already given Nico a journal and they had the safe words too, even if Nico hadn't realized what they really were. So maybe it was the best alternative. That way, they could finally clear things up once and for all.
Giving up, Percy walked to his room, placed the box on the bed and left the room quickly. Percy didn't want Nico to think he had abandoned him just as they had reconciled. It was his own fault, of course. How could Percy give Nico what he wanted when Percy knew the responsibility of dominating someone? Most of the time it wouldn't just be obedience and fun. It was the expectation behind the word, of what it really meant to dominate someone's life. The care, the concern, making sure that Nico would be safe and happy even in the midst of pain and frustration. It was the real responsibility of having someone's complete surrender and the trust, to the point that Nico would take every word or order to the letter. And from what Percy had seen, some submissives expected the dominant to make all the decisions for them, and in that, Percy didn't know if he would be able to consent. That was the real reason he was so hesitant, if only it were just Nico's fantasies, the expectation would always be heavier than anything they could do.
"Percy? I thought I saw you come in. I think we need to have a talk."
The worst he feared happened, someone had really caught him off guard. It was his mother, furious and with her arms crossed. Percy didn't even have time to go downstairs, at least he had closed the bedroom door, preventing her from seeing the logo on the box's packaging.
"Look, it's not what you think."
"I know everything. Nico told me."
"Everything?" What would that all be?”
“Don't try to fool me.”
Percy paused for a moment, realizing that his mother was bluffing. If she knew anything, Sally would already be raging in a much more specific way. At most, she must have seen something on Nico's shoulders or neck. But... should he hide these things from his mother? It was always better to have a backup plan in case he messed up.
“Fine. We had sex, okay?” Percy raised his hand before Sally could continue, seeing her face deepen in fury, like a mother lioness defending her cub. “I know I promised, I tried to do it your way and look what happened! Nico thought I didn't want to be with him. I found out that he…”
“He what?”
“You know…”
“No, I don't.’
“Nico thinks I'm rejecting him if I don't... touch him.”
“Oh.” Sally sighed and leaned against the wall, looking defeated.
“I'm going to do things the right way this time.”
“Percy, what are you saying? Nico isn't like that. He's kind and calm and…”
“Super obedient? Likes to please everyone around him?”
“Percy, I forbid you to--”
“He's a submissive, Mom. What do you want me to do? Why do you think I've distanced myself from him? Is that what you want?”
“I decide what happens in this house and that's not going to happen.”
“It's too late, don't you see? I didn't start this.”
“What?”
“That's right. Nico has been having fun without me in Italy. And if I found a place and was welcomed, I'm sure he did too.”
That finally put an end to the argument. Sally looked devastated to a point Percy hadn't seen before, not even when she found out Percy was suicidal.
“What could have happened to make Nico want these things? He must have learned it from someone.”
It was a good question. For a little boy who avoided even the mention of sex to become a submissive, it was a big step.
“Maybe what he told us about Hades is worse than we thought?”
“Percy! I don’t want to think about that possibility.” Sally put her hand to her face, refusing to believe that Hades would be capable of sexually abusing such a defenseless little boy. When she looked back at Percy, Sally had a strange glint in her eyes. “It seems like we have more work to do.”
“Mom, no! Nico didn’t say anything about it. I don’t want him to feel pressured.”
“Honey, of course he didn’t say anything about it. Would you? That’s what abusers do. They manipulate people who are more fragile than they are and make them believe that no one will believe them. Nico needs a little push in the right direction.”
“I don’t know. We’ll talk to him, if that’s the case—”
“Leave it to me.” Hades Di Ângelo doesn't know who he's messed with!
***
Percy's life was a big ball of tiredness, because that's how he felt. A small thing that seemed unimportant, from one moment to the next, grew and grew, and before he knew it, the small signs of danger became a whirlwind of problems. He wasn't complaining, it was better to know what was going on than to be caught off guard later. The first of them was his mother always getting involved in things she shouldn't. They went down the stairs and he knew right away; as soon as they got downstairs, he saw Sally straighten her spine, as if she was getting ready to go to war.
Luckily, the three people present hadn't noticed their presence. Nico was sitting in front of the dining table, looking irritated by something Tyson was saying to him, while Grover just laughed, stretched out in the chair where he sat. Then, before anything could happen, Percy grabbed her shoulder, smiled and leaned down towards his mother, whispering:
“Mom, we talked about this.”
“I need to--”
“No, I'll talk to him when the time is right.”
“Per--”
“Promise me. I'm serious.”
“Perseus Jackson!”
That finally caught Nico's attention. Percy ignored his mother's glare at him and walked towards Nico. Sally could get all annoyed, today was not the right day to discuss these things; today, he would put Nico on a pretty leash and do things the right way.
That is, Percy would do that if Nico would let him. Because that was his second problem of the day. It was even funny if Percy was honest with himself. Nico glanced in his direction for a brief moment and, just like that, ignored him. Nico went back to looking at the plate in front of him, moving the food with his fork from side to side, not seeming interested in eating.
“Looks like someone didn't have a very good night.” Tyson continued, chewing as he spoke. It was kind of disgusting. What could Percy do? When his brother was in this kind of mood, nothing could stop him. Except when Nico was in an even worse mood.
In slow motion, Percy saw Nico pick up a still-warm bagel, stare at it for a moment and then Nico threw the bagel in Tyson's face, ending his brother's laughter, but making Grover laugh out loud, who almost fell backwards from laughing so hard.
“Now, who's not having a good day? Hm?” A victorious smile appeared on Nico's face and in the greatest display of childishness, Tyson stuck his tongue out at Nico, picking up the roll that had fallen on his plate and taking a big bite of it.
“Thrown food tastes even better. Let's see who wins?”
It was clear that immaturity had won this round. Percy saw no other alternative but to play the adult. Just as Nico was about to throw another piece of bread, Percy stopped beside Nico and touched the back of his neck. He didn't even hold him, just placed his hand on Nico's neck. The effect was immediate. Nico stopped with his hand raised and looked up, his face a mischievous boyish expression.
"Behave yourself." Those words seemed to have an even more powerful effect.
Slowly, Nico lowered his arm, put the bread on his own plate and looked down, all embarrassed. Percy hadn't even scolded him or told him to stop, but it was as if he had. It was... intoxicating. If Percy gave Nico any order, would he obey?
"Eat," Percy said and waited to see what would happen. For a moment, no one moved. Nico remained huddled against the seat of the chair, fidgeting uncomfortably. Not even the sound of his mother's heels approaching seemed to wake Nico from his bubble of shame. Nico remained like that for a few more moments and finally picked up the fork again, this time cutting a piece of the pancake and bringing it to his lips, looking like he was going to burst into tears at any moment.
“Good boy.” Percy said once more, testing to see what Nico would do.
He stroked the hair there and felt Nico immediately relax, chewing slowly under his attentive gaze and blushing discreetly. The real question was whether things had always been like this or if it was something new.
Percy looked at his family who now seemed as well-behaved as Nico, although he saw how Tyson and Grover looked at him with a strange smile on their faces or how his mother disapproved of him, still with her arms crossed, now sitting in her chair. The important thing here was that no one had found the scene strange. It was true that sometimes he had to break up arguments like this, without importance. The question there was, had Nico always reacted to him this way? Percy hated what his brain did to him, erasing this type of information and then making him question if it was real or if it was just his fertile imagination inventing fantasy scenarios.
“Where did you…” Nico began to say, still looking at his own plate. “You weren't in bed when I woke up... did something happen?”
“I had to leave really fast. It's a surprise.”
“Surprise? I’m gonna like this?”
What Percy heard was a "will it be fun?"
“I promise you will.”
“I just... don't like waking up alone.”
Hm. Percy understood, he really did. But since Nico wanted to go down that path, Percy had an obligation to be responsible.
“This won't happen again. I had a good reason.”
“And that is...?”
“You'll find out. Soon.”
Percy had spoken with a tone of finality that he usually didn't like to use. See, he was the dominant one here, right? So, he would act like one. And Nico seemed to be aware of that, even if they hadn't had a serious and definitive conversation. Percy knew this because Nico looked away from his own plate and looked at him curiously, and instead of arguing, Nico pouted, going back to eating, taking a forkful of scrambled eggs.
“Do you want some?” Nico took another bite and offered it to Percy, who accepted it only to see a smile appear on Nico's face.
Well, what could he do? Percy pulled a chair closer and let Nico feed him in intervals, where things returned to normal; his family resumed talking and Nico remained quiet, accepting whatever Percy put on his plate.
***
Nico picked up his bag from the floor and accepted it when Percy offered him his hand, hearing the bell ring. It was Friday and that was usually Nico's favorite day, a day with few classes and the whole weekend to rest. Or so it used to be. Since he had come back, every day had been full of ups and downs, little moments that Nico treasured, hoping they would last the rest of his life. He just... he just didn't expect that after so many misunderstandings, things would become so easy. Unpredictable? Yes. But never forced, even when something happened that made his head spin.
Fortunately, this was one of the good times. Since he had woken up that morning, his head had been... empty. Nico couldn't worry about his problems, like the upcoming exams or Annabeth who kept hovering over them. Not even when Percy scolded him at breakfast, taking control of the situation, like he hadn't seen anyone do in a long time, not when it came to him, the "innocent and delicate Nico". Things just seemed to be in the right place again, as if he had never left, however, they seemed to be even better, feeling like they had taken an important step towards the future he had always dreamed of.
“Baby? Are you okay?”
“Hm. Just tired.”
“We're almost there.”
“Okay.”
They really were. Nico had barely noticed the moment they had gotten into Percy's car, he didn't remember putting on his seatbelt or when they had arrived in the neighborhood where they lived. Nico stared out the window, not registering anything, letting his mind wander, empty, Nico feeling so calm and at peace like he had never felt before. Had it been the sex last night? Or was it just Percy's presence? And where did all this peace of mind come from? It didn't matter, he got out of the car when Percy opened the door for him, accepted the hand Percy offered him once again and went upstairs while Percy guided him. Hm... maybe that was it. Things had always been like that for him, hadn't they? The absence of duties and obligations? Not always and not everything, just a little bit. It was okay if Nico allowed himself to not make any decisions for a few hours, right?
"Beautiful. Lift your leg."
"Oh." He did, lifting one leg and then the other, allowing Percy to take off his sneakers, socks and pants.
When had they entered the house and gone to Percy's room?
"Arms."
Nico lifted them too, Percy exchanging his shirt for a comfortable t-shirt.
"Better? Some water?"
Nico didn't hesitate, took the glass of water from Percy's hand and drank it in one breath, feeling better immediately.
Could something have happened during the day to make him feel this way?
"Good boy." Percy said and kissed his face, holding him by the back of the neck, practically cradling him in his lap.
Something ignited in his brain, pleasure radiating through his body for no reason.
Oh, so that was it? That must be the reason he was feeling so light and content. It shouldn't be normal to feel like that for so long, right? He had woken up in a bad mood, but soon that feeling of doing the right thing and being in the right place filled him, making him forget that he should be mad at Percy.
“I... don't talk to me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like that... with that voice... touching me like that…”
“I've always done that. What’s changed now?”
“I…” Nico was starting to not care if Percy did that on purpose. Was it normal to hear someone's voice and immediately feel all those things?
Nico heard Percy laugh and a shiver ran down his spine. It was a low, deep sound near his ear, making him realize that Percy was, in fact, doing that on purpose. Maybe he had groaned and clung to Percy's neck, Percy nibbling on his shoulder, moving up until he found his earlobe once more.
"Okay, I admit it," Percy murmured. "You've been very susceptible to... suggestions. Is it me or is it something general?"
"Just you," Nico found himself saying, realizing it was the truth. "I think... I trust you."
"I feel honored," Percy said without any irony, his low, velvety tone giving way to something more normal. "I was afraid this would happen. I will never abuse the trust you put on me."
"I know that. I’ve never doubted that."
"That's why I have to talk to you about something."
Oh, no. Was he in trouble?
Thank you for joining me on this journey. See you next time.

TITLE: Until Darkness Descends
PAIRING: Ardyn Izunia x reader
RATING: Explicit
FANDOM: Final Fantasy XV
TW: Dubcon
CHAPTER: 14
"Ooh fuck!" You sobbed, your hands searched the plush surface of your blanket, desperate to find something to hold onto.
Ardyn gave you one more hard suck on your clit and your hands flew into his hair instantly. You couldn't think, you couldn't breath, you couldn't even remember why you didn't want this in the first place. You're hurling closer and closer to the finish line at a startling rate. All you could do was hold on and await the inevitable.
You were whimpering and gasping and tightening around his invading digits. As you got closer and closer to the knife's edge, your speech began to slur as though you were intoxicated. It felt like you were. Dopamine and endorphins replaced the blood in your veins, an impenetrable fog pillaged the thoughts from your brain, and you were surfing the wave of a dangerous high that doused your entire body in euphoria.
"Ooh! Ooh fuck, yes! Please, please, please!" You cried, hands tightening upon his auburn tresses. Ardyn chuckled against your sex and only made you grind against his face even more. Your legs trembled around his head as a litany of moans filled the air. "Right fucking there! Yes! Just like that, please!"
So close, your body quivered. A light sheen of sweat covered every inch of your body and your slurred words devolved into a jumbled incoherent mess. Ardyn spread you wider, his fingers curled faster, harder, squelching against your aching insides. The mounting tension deep inside of you collapsed. The full force of your release punched the air right out of your lungs.
Your mouth fell open in a silent scream as a flash of white consumed your sight. Ardyn worked you through your orgasm, rubbing your clit with his thumb and devouring your release with his tongue. You were floating, weightless in a sea of ecstasy. A parade of colors danced behind your eyelids, your senses sung a pleasant melody. You wanted to remain in that heavenly void forever, but you were soon dropped back down to earth.
What felt beautiful and all consuming a moment before now felt disgusting and vile. Ardyn climbed up your body, your taut muscles jolted with the dregs of your release. Before you could even blink he claimed your lips. A shiver climbed down the back of your neck the moment you tasted yourself, the unmistakable musky sweet tang of a woman's ecstasy. "Good girl, so sweet for your dear uncle Ardyn." He said in between kisses. "I think you deserve a reward."
Climbing off of you, he went to work removing his clothes. His hat was first, then his scarf, he shoved his long heavy coat down his arms and it rustled as it hit your cherry wood floors. His yellow eyes were locked onto you as you sat up on the bed. His eyes were heavy with lust but something much darker lurked under the surface, a challenge. There was no need for a verbal warning when you could read it so clearly on his face.
Even so, your eyes flitted towards the open bedroom door. The urge to flee was palpable. You flirted with the idea, imagined leaping off the bed and running towards your freedom. But you knew it would be a wasted effort. Ardyn would catch you, his arms would wrap around your waist and hurl you onto the bed. His punishing grip would bite into your skin and he would make you regret ever attempting to escape.
Grabbing your towel, you tossed it over your nakedness and hid from his hungry gaze. You balled your hand into a fist to keep it from trembling. You knew what was going to happen next. Ardyn would fully disrobe and climb on top of you, then proceed to take the very thing you gave to him over and over again in your head for years. But the real life scenario was a nightmarish contrast to what you thought would be a beautiful and loving experience.
The bed dipped and you were snapped out of your thoughts. A mischievous grin was on his lips as he climbed on top of you, you held the towel closer to your body, your heart slamming against your ribs. Dread churned in your stomach when Ardyn grabbed the towel and wrestled it from your tenuous grip. Once it was tossed onto the floor, you pressed your hand against his toned chest. "Ardyn…y-you don't have to do this. You could leave and we could pretend like this never happened." You said.
"I’m afraid that won’t do. We’ve come this far, might as well see the night through." He said and your heart sunk to the darkest pit of your stomach.
         "B-but…I've…I've…never-".
"Are you afraid?" Ardyn asked. You bit your bottom lip as tears flooded your eyes.
"Yes." You croaked, a single tear slid down your face. "Please don't do this." More tears cascaded down your cheeks. You didn't fight Ardyn when he pulled you into a gentle embrace. His hand rubbed soothing circles against your back, his other hand cradled your head against his shoulder, and he kissed your forehead. Your muscles relaxed in response. It was foolish, after all the horrible things he did to you tonight you still craved comfort from him. He was the one making your heart ache and yet it felt so light in this tiny fraction of time.
A part of you hoped he would change his mind. He would put his clothes back on and spend the rest of the night comforting you and apologizing and promising never to hurt you again. You were willing to forgive him, you just wanted this nightmare to end.
The older man gently shushed you and wiped your tears away with his thumb. "Shhh, shhh, now, now, dearest, I won’t hurt you." He promised, he sealed the saccharine sweet promise with another kiss on your forehead. "You can do this one thing for your dear uncle Ardyn, can't you? After everything I have done for you, at least."
You crane your neck to look up at him. "But-"
"Haven’t I kept you safe all these years? Lent you an ear when you needed it most? Did all in my power to keep you happy?" He listed, grasping your chin with his hand. "All without asking for anything in return. Certainly you could find it in yourself to fulfill this one meager request."
Have you really been selfish for all these years? You looked away from Ardyn and dug through your memories, certainly you've done him a kind gesture before or showed your gratitude with a gift or fulfilled a request of his. The more you searched the more you started to realize that Ardyn was right. All you did was take and take and take from him for as long as you knew him. And Ardyn never complained, he continued to look out for you and take care of you despite you never doing the same for him.
Ardyn deserved something in return, something he wanted, but could you truly go through with this? You were dating another man and even if Gladiolus wasn't in the picture, you never imagined your first time with Ardyn going like this. You always imagined a few kisses being exchanged first. He would sweep you off your feet with gifts and thoughtful dates, and he would confess his undying love for you before claiming you as his own. You twiddle your thumbs in your lap.
But you supposed Ardyn did do some of those things, he always showered you with gifts and would frequently take you out. Before it was to the circus but now it's to other towns, to restaurants and tourist attractions you've never seen before. He kissed you on the lips many times tonight, and if you count the last four years, he has kissed you on your forehead more times than you could count. The only requirement left unfulfilled was the admission of love, but the other two had been fulfilled a long time ago. After everything he did for you over the years, it would be unfair for you to deny him the only request he had ever given you.
Despite knowing this, you still weren't ready. Will Ardyn hurt you if you deny him? He seemed to be in an amicable mood right now, perhaps he would be receptive to a hint of your apprehension and not an outright refusal. Maybe he would choose to postpone this night and give you time to think. With a heavy sigh, you looked up into his yellow eyes. You were still in his embrace, his strong toned arms felt warm and safe wrapped around you. "It'll hurt." You whispered.
"A moment of pain in exchange for a night of bliss." Ardyn responded. He shifted your weight so you would lay against the bed. You tried to calm your beating heart when he laid on top of you, his hips between your legs. His member was hot and hard and pressed against your naked sex.
He rocked his hips against yours, his shaft parted your slick folds and nudged your clit as it ground against you. You could hear the wet click of skin against skin as he teased the both of you. Your heart was slowly climbing up your throat but you tried to breath through the sudden wave of panic.
Ardyn must've seen the fear in your eyes since he gave you a soft lingering kiss and brushed his knuckles against your cheek. "Just relax. Haven’t I always known best?"

Chapter 1: Meeting Ardyn || Bound By Destiny (Ardyn Izunia x Reader)
Summary:
You may have read stories of girls (and boys) being teleported into gaming worlds such as Final Fantasy XV, but have you ever imagined that one of them gets teleported into our world? Y/N is a 25-year-old young woman who just escaped from an abusive relationship. One night, an unexpected thing happened while Y/N was about to sleep. A canon character got transported into her world. Chancellor Ardyn Izunia is known as a tragic man with a devastating past. The Gods from his world decided to punish him by cursing him that he'd never find love and sending him into a new world called Earth.
What would happen when Ardyn meets Y/N? Will he love her?
------------------------------------------
All Y/N wanted was to sleep peacefully. It was currently night in her hometown and most people were asleep, even in the apartment where Y/N lived. She was a middle-class woman who was a beauty. She thought she would have an ordinary life such as going to school, working, finding love, and starting a family. Yes, she finished school and has a job but she just escaped an abusive relationship. She was struggling to decide if she should ever try another relationship or not. She did want a family of her own. But there were so many people that she didn't know how to find her love.
Y/N had S/C skin, H/C hair, and E/C eyes. She wasn't rich but she was in the middle. She earns enough money by working. It may sound lame with this but she worked as a cleaner in a rich old lady's house. Her window was open and she wore night clothing. A shirt and shorts. She walked up to her balcony and opened the glass doors. She stepped and leaned into the railing. She sighed as she felt fresh air and a soft wind going through her hair. She decided to stay for a few minutes and enjoy the air. But then, something on the street caught her eye. It was glowing. Y/N decided to check it out. What was that? She quickly went back inside and put on her shoes before going outside. She went as fast as she could going down through the stairs. Yes, there was even a lift but she lived only like 2 stores high.
Y/N reached outside and went towards the glowing thing. She stopped a few feet away from the glowing and that's when finally, a laying figure could be made out. The glowing thing disappeared and Y/N can finally make the figure out completely. It was a man who seemed to be around his 30s. He wore... special clothing for a man and his fedora hat was next to him on the ground. He seemed unconscious.
Y/N looked so worried that she walked up to the figure and kneeled. He was pretty handsome for a man. His hair was red-violet for example that was reached his chin. Y/N remembered her training in school on how to check if someone was alive. She was nervous as this time it was a real situation. She checked his pulse and he was breathing, which caused Y/N to sigh in relief. She decided to try and get him into her apartment. She used his arm and wrapped it around her neck. She took the fedora hat in her other hand and began slowly dragging the man to her apartment. She mumbled some words under her breath and once they were inside, Y/N dragged herself and the man towards the lift. For some reason, he looked very familiar to her... Who is he?
Y/N clicked on the button and the lift opened. She dragged herself and the man inside and clicked on the button again to her floor. She waited patiently as the lift went up until it reached her floor. Y/N felt herself getting tired, even her muscles were aching. It must be because of helping the man. She went a bit faster and finally, she reached the door. She opened it and went inside. Y/N went to her bedroom and gently laid the man down on the bed. She sighed softly and helped the man more comfortable on her bed. She was a kind person with a good heart. She decided to take a good look at the man again. Once again, he seemed oddly familiar. Y/N thought for a moment before her mind clicked. It was a gaming character! She decided to look up on the internet about his features. She went to her computer desk that was in her bedroom and sat on the chair. She began searching up and typed everything in. Once the results came, her eyes went wide.
Ardyn Izunia.
No wonder he was familiar! Y/N should've known that he was Ardyn! What was he doing here? The glowing thing that Y/N saw... She knew it was real. It was like a wish came true for a big fan of Ardyn. Y/N decided to take care of him. Ardyn. She went carefully to him and tried taking his black trench coat off gently. He was still unconscious, wasn't he?
"Come on. Come on," Y/N mumbled softly under her breath.
Y/N succeeded in taking the coat off and she blushed. He still looked handsome without his trench coat. He looked peaceful while unconscious or 'sleeping'. She placed the trench coat on the chair and looked at the fedora hat for a while. She couldn't believe it. Ardyn was here. How? How is this possible? While Y/N had questions, a familiar voice suddenly spoke out, and Y/N was startled. "Enjoying looking at my hat, my dear?"

Hello! Thanks for reading. This is part of a collection of head-canon postings I wanted to make regarding my current fanfic’s universe and lore. The fanfic takes place in an altered omen!verse, along with bits and bobs from the alternate ending of Episode Ignis, as well as when FFXV was still Verses XIII. I’ve always been super fascinated by the Omen trailer, and what would have to occur for said trailer to end up happening. Also, I deserve to be self-indulgent. This is a VERY personal, non-factual imagining of my own headworld regarding FFXV and is really not meant to be taken as a legit theory. Please don’t come for me I’m just a nerd.
——
The origins of the Six, as gods of the Cosmogony are murky at best given the lore we’re exposed to within the game, only giving us bits and pieces through Noctis’ eyes. However, a theory I’ve always liked and enjoyed is the idea that the Six are not innate protectors of only Eos, but have traveled to and fro from various worlds and planets, where they deem themselves needed, or perhaps out of necessity.
It’s been stated I believe, by a few producers and directors, that FFXV, FFX, and FFVII all take place within the same universe. (FFXIII is probably in here too, but I’m not done playing the series lol)  It’s never really been truly elaborated too much about what this means, or in what way. A popular speculation is that all of these games are within the same universe but, different planets. We see, in the only opportunity we really have in the ruined Insomnia that both Spira, and Shinra are mentioned. It could of course, be written off that these are just winks for final fantasy fans, and implications, I however like the idea that FFX, and FFVII are different instances of the same planet, different time periods.
I present to you this idea FFVII’s Midgar, is in fact XV’s ancient city of Solheim.
I don’t particularly have any hard evidence for this, mind you, just a collection of loose brain worms that have been clunking around in my mind since XV’s release.
For my fanfic, the first human, upon whom Ifrit bestowed his gift of fire to, was a longstanding predecessor of Rufus Shinra, and that it is remnants of Shinra’s technology, that form the civilization of Solheim.
And thus, this introduces us to the real meat of our head-canon/theory, where the six come into play. We see the Six deities, Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Bahamut, Ramuh, and Titan appear as materia summons in Final Fantasy VII initially. The timeline for FFXV calls the period of Solheim, the Cosmogony, the Age of Myth, so let’s start there.
Tumblr media
THE AGE OF MYTH
I’ve always been a big fan of the idea that the scourge was something infecting the planet, perhaps due to the gods themselves. A lot of people posit that the gods traveled from world to world, and while I like this idea, I imagine gods spend quite a long time on their particular world, and that civilizations don’t particularly seem all that long to them. Shiva and Bahamut in the 2nd FFXV Comic Anthology compare humans to flowers, and state that they’ll only grow if cultivated correctly like particularly grouchy botanists.
Tumblr media
I believe the Six and their messengers and minor deities arrived in a similar fashion to Jenova (I have another head-canon post planned bearing the similarities between the Goddess Eos from Verses, and Jenova and think that they MAY be one and the same)
Tumblr media
they both got lil weird wings. lol The gods are quite eldritch and almost unfathomable in their states in XV, which is one of the things I really like about the series, and I like the idea that the parts of them we see, are in fact their true forms. The summons in VII are more minor forms of the Six that we know and love, perhaps like the way grecian gods interacted with the world around them in their own myths.
It’s loosely possible, that this was the the beginning of the starscourge, and that even directly interacting with minor forms of the Six could transmit the parasite known  as Plasmodium that causes the scourge. We’re shown in XV that even interacting with the gods for long periods of time had detrimental effects on Luna’s health, and that was her whole bloodline’s purpose. Who’s to say ancient Midgar/Solheim stood a chance.
However, as Shinra became more more corrupted, and post advent children the more these magical crystals or Materia were used for humankind’s own ends. Ifrit believed this to be a betrayal of mankind, and was a denial of the sacred bond between humans and their deities, thus igniting the war that struck FFVII’s world to ruin, the gods warred over this, and eventually slept to allow themselves a clean slate. Jenova, or Eos, was then imprisoned in what we know as Pitioss.
Afterwards, the gods then slept, awakening next to bestow the ring upon the Lucis Caelum line some centuries later.

I'll be updating this with a part 2 soon!

So... I was thinking about it the other day, and I think I might be somewhat (not too seriously, but maybe partly. I don't know. I don't know if I'm really big on KH theorizing anymore) back on my "Yozora is the Master of Masters" theory train again.
Why? Well, because I do think it's suspicious that we've never seen the two of them together at the same time. Even the KHIII secret ending that featured the both of them in Quadratum showed them separately. (I also find it weird--that even though we don't know much about KHIV now, and perhaps that's the explanation--it's seeming like there might be a possibility now that we might not be getting both the MoM and Yozora in the same game now. If that does happen, maybe it's just because it would be too much to juggle. Or because Nomura's waiting to do the Yozora stuff until the Verum Rex game, but hmm...)
But that's not what got me thinking again. If anything, that may just still be in support of the theory, perhaps.
A lot of people think that the Master of Masters' real name is "Light" based on the scene where he tells Xehanort his name, but you don't hear it, but there's a shock of light over his face/the screen. And I do think people are right to theorize this/that there might be something there.
How does this tie to Yozora, you ask? Who is Yozora a remake of? Nomura's character that he lost: Noctis Lucis Caelum, whose name meant: Night Light Sky (I feel like they fudged the Latin, and it was probably supposed to be "Light of the Night Sky", but that's neither here nor there).
But the point is the "Lucis"/"Light" part of Noctis' name. Now he's made the character Yozora to live out all that he wanted to with Noctis, since that character was essentially stolen away from him. Yozora's name means "Night Sky" in Japanese, like Noctis Caelum did in Latin. But though this hasn't been confirmed yet, I would not be surprised if Yozora has more to his name that we don't know of yet--a last name, perhaps--to give him the "Light" part of it he's missing (and make him more 1:1 Noctis, like Nomura clearly wants him to be), and fit this idea about the Master of Master's name being "Light," or perhaps part of his name being that.
Furthermore, what does Yozora say when Sora meets him in Re:Mind that's had people scratching their heads for so long? "This isn't what I normally look like. How would you recognize me as Yozora?" I think he's either saying here that he usually looks like the Master of Masters. Or people who have theorized that eventually Nomura is literally going to make Yozora look like Noctis, and thus Yozora's saying his Yozora appearance is "wrong" because he's supposed to look like "Noctis," are right... Which would be just too fitting in the same game where Nameless Star was saying her name and everything was taken from her. *cough* when Nomura got kicked off of Final Fantasy Versus XIII/Final Fantasy XV, and Tabata changed the story some, and now Nomura has to put some of his ideas from it into KH to reach his vision at all. *cough* Either way, you want to look at why he said what he did, Yozora could still be the Master of Masters with these explanations.
Also, there's that whole thing with the Master of Master's gazing eye, that's in "No Name" and allows it to see the future--and don't forget there was stuff with Noctis' eyes in Versus XIII: like how his one eye would be red at times, while the other would remain its natural blue.
The real kicker if all of this is true, is that Ray Chase--the English version of Noctis--voicing the Master of Masters seems like it's just a coincidence. o_0 As Noctis' VA doesn't voice him in any other version of the game, I don't think. Unless Square Enix NA knew that was where the story was going--if it is--and decided to just go ahead and cast Ray Chase as the Master of Masters partially for that added bonus. LOL

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFV)
5 :)))))))
V is my second favorite FF, I care so much about this game. It brings me a lot of emotion despite being one of the goofier, less serious entries (I will stand by the fact that FFV and One Piece have similar vibes in setting and story), and the music absolutely helps. I appreciate a lot more of the non battle themes in this game than I usually do (of course since this is a top 5 list (top V list?) that doesn't really show but just take my word for it) and I will admit to tearing up at things cause it just does that to me. Love this game. Let's do it. 5. Legend of the Deep Forest Apparently this is also known as "As I Feel, You Feel"? I love how somber this is. Again, as we all know, I'm bad at words, I do not know what the main instrument is called, but I absolutely love it. I also feel like it has like, a dual meaning based on where you are in the dungeon. When you enter, it feels like a great forest where the main villain has come from, a place of evil. When it burns down, it gives you that sense of loss from an event of senseless evil.
4. To The North Mountain Why does this bang? It has no right. I just think this is a fun, adventurous song. I love all the instruments in it, the guitar, the horn, the... banjo? the organ, it's all very fun, very unique, and very stand-out for what it is and where it plays. It sticks out to me.
3. The Decisive Battle One word. The Drums. That's two words. Whatever. This is SUCH a good Exdeath theme. Taking his main motif, and turning it into a battle with THE DRUMS (THE DRUMSSSSS), not to mention the part where it starts glitching out and getting chaotic, then going hard into the main melody again, holy shit this song is hype. It sounds super cool, it has amazing drums (I'm sorry I'll stop), and it plays multiple times so you get to hear it over and over. Not to mention, one of those times is during one of the absolute best moments in the entire game. o7
2. Battle on the Big Bridge The song. The man. The big man on the big bridge, the big song for the big man. Uematsu was absolutely cooking when he made this song, and I am so glad it continues to appear over and over again in future entries, it literally does not miss once at all. Special shoutouts to the PR, XII, XIII-2, XIV, and XV versions, and anti-shoutouts to the Theatrhythm All Star Carnival version cause it's mean and hurts my fingies. I don't even really know what to say cause like, everyone knows this song is fucking outstanding??? If you are reading this you know this song, it's hype, it's exciting, it's catchy, it's just, Amazing. 1. PIANO LESSON 1 BABYYY THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG IN ANY GAME EVER PIANO LESSON 1 ALL THE WAY
I'm sorry this joke sucks
ok the actual real #1 is...
1. Main Theme of Final Fantasy V I was struggling between picking this or Battle on the Big Bridge as the #1. But I think in this specific list when I'm trying to focus on V songs, this song just hits my emotions a little harder, and it is like, a summary of why I love FFV in general. It's lighthearted, it's fun, it feels like an adventure, however, right at the end of the song before it loops, this is the part that really makes me tear up, because it slows down, it feels emotional but in different ways depending on the context, like you're looking back happily at your journey or feeling sadness over the loss and tragedy that does happen in this game. One of my absolute favorite versions of this song is the one from DIstant Worlds IV. It works so well in an orchestrated form, feeling triumphant and happy, but again! That one part before the loop! It slows down and brings a completely different level to the emotions. Especially at the end of the song when you just have a slow trumpet solo.... then the whole orchestra comes in, and a big triumphant finale. It's a happy song that is deeper than it seems out the outside. Just like the game it's meant for.

Ships ask- 1, 21, 27, 34, and 44, with the ship of your choice, if you could please?
I am always on some shit so you've got three ships! I've also realized I still answer questions by restating the questions sometimes so that's an old academic habit still hanging on.
The Ships
Claire Redfield x Nico Bright (Brightfield) from Resident Evil
Pre Vizsla x Solus Ve'tra (PreSolus) from Star Wars
Libertus Ostium x Feronia "Fe" Cataegis (Liberfe) from Final Fantasy XV
-
1. Describe their first date.
Brightfield: It was really cute and at an arcade bar. Claire’s obviously been on many dates but Nico really hasn’t. Yes, she had a relationship with Javi in high school that looked traditional romantic but was queer-platonic instead. This is her first big Official Romantic Date. It doesn’t matter that she knows Claire because this is Different. So, the location is somewhere they can keep moving around but also provides time to talk. Yes, Nico wins Claire a stuffed animal because she’s a gentleman like that. Yes, Claire helped Nico, age 19, get a very real Fake ID (one of many) so she could buy drinks on her own.
PreSolus: They actually don’t have a first date as much as they had a many, many things happen. It was also a little bit
What happened was they met because Solus was his temporary bodyguard during a mission to figure out why Death Watch attacked a Republic Cruiser. There was a hypothetical one night stand because everyone was still buying each other's covers. He’s a reformed Governor of Concordia, she’s a devout Jedi Padawan, and this fantastic, highly compatible hooking up is happening once. Then they had a wonderful fight near the mines on Concordia where they very much tried to kill each other (and came away with trophies). He sent assassins to Coruscant after Satine, she sent back a single living one and killed the rest, and also taunted him through the comm borrowed from a dead assassin. Then she tosses away her status as a Padawan and citizen of the Republic, fucks over some Jedi information networks on Nar Shadaa, and then joins Death Watch because being a True Mandalorian got her fucked over during the Civil War.
LiberFe: In terms of first dates, it was overall pretty standard. They got dinner at a Galahdian place then went to some little glorified art house theater to see a movie. The only reason for the movie was it was in Galahdian and they love hearing their native tongue. Afterward, there was probably drinks because Nyx is demanding they meet up. They’ve already known each other a while but both put out on the first date anyway. He has a small one bedroom apartment they end up crashing at.
21. Do they enjoy domestic life?
Brightfield: They’ve both lived hard, even if rewarding, lives so the little domestic things are still magical to them. Grocery shopping, washing the cars, folding laundry, etc. together means so much because it means they’re both in the same space, at the same time, and healthy. Claire’s even learning to cook out of it because she can’t but Nico can. In return, Nico gets to watch Claire be the Sexy Mechanic while working on their motorcycles.
PreSolus: They honestly do, which feels like it's the opposite of how they carry themselves. He’s this badass Manda’lor, heads Death Watch, and is focused on reclaiming Mandalore. She’s a savvy politician, assassin, and otherwise swiss army knife of a Nite Owl. But, they both really enjoy the simple things and spending time with each other doing the little things. When they have their children (twins Tarre and Jila) they share the responsibility of caring for them, while carrying on their duties to Death Watch, and adore it. Honestly, one of Solus' biggest dreams has always been to be a mother. She wants that Domestic Life.
Liberfe: They really do but it becomes most readily apparent after the Dawn. They move back to Galahd with the other half of their polycule (Nyx and Lunafreya) to live wonderfully simple lives. Getting to take in all of the little things each day with partners tastes so much sweeter with returned sunlight. Hanging clothes out to line dry, walking through real forests, and even cooking is stunning now. They all work in Their Bar but Fe and Lunafreya still work part time as medics.
27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?
Brightfield: There’s tons and tons of little ways. Claire makes Nico a cup of coffee, checks her for injuries when she gets back from jobs, and takes care of her hair; her hair is 3A curls so there’s a Routine. While Nico helps Claire touch up the color to her roots, baked her brownies with extra walnuts and lets her have more of the edge pieces, and makes her wind down tea in her favorite mug. It’s taking each other to doctor’s appointments when injured or showing up with favorite foods for comfort. Sharing clothes so they’re always together in some way. Even listening to each other talk about their passions at length. Nico almost cried when Claire was eagerly listening to her talk about plants instead of getting bored.
PreSolus: She always makes sure she checks over his kom’rk, even if there’s other mechanics. It’s something she has to be sure of because she needs him back. He got her a strill to protect her and keep her company while he’s gone. She tends to his injuries both traditional ways and with her knowledge of Force Healing. He found two kyber crystals for her to forge her new lightsabers. Then it’s making cups of caf or soundboarding ideas or any number of little things that’s always “I love you” in subtle words.
Liberfe: Fe suffered a traumatic brain injury as a toddler (she nearly drowned) and it crops up in a couple of different ways; along with whatever her biological family had going on. One of the ways it shows up is selective mutism. He learned to sign for her and made sure their Final Home had an open concept so everyone could see each other and communicate with her. She also tends to decompress from sensory overloads by watching light projectors on the ceiling be it fish, galaxies, etc. He kept one at his apartment in Insomnia for her and they have a real fish tank in Galahd to supplement. She knows he loves cooking so she collects fresh herbs and spices for him. It's something she’s learned to handle for her folk medicines but still a part is reserved for him. She’ll also sort, prep, and label them for him. If he’s had a hard day she draws a bath that’s peak luxury with bath salts, candles, etc. so he can fully unwind. When he wants to think out loud she's always there to listen even if it may not seem like she's listening to an outsider.
34. Do they have any inside jokes?
Brightfield: They’re full of inside jokes that range from known to their friends group/polycule (it’s almost a circle) to just the two of them. Claire’s cooking mishaps or Nico’s plant excursions rank toward the top.
PreSolus: Yes. Solus doesn’t drop that she never got a first date. Nor will she ever let it go that his ancestor outsourced Darksaber to her through the Force because Clan and House Vizsla was such a Hot Mess. She’s a morosexual and he repeatedly reminds her of it.
Liberfe: They’re not really inside jokes as much as a lot of Insomnians just can’t understand them. Someone says something in Galahdian or she’ll sign something rude/funny/etc. that he playfully refuses to translate. Their group of friends know what’s happening though.
44. Do they cuddle often? Why or why not?
Brightfield: They cuddle all of the time. Claire’s very physically affectionate person and Nico spent one and half decades extraordinarily touch starved. It worked out so, so well that they love being clued to each other.
PreSolus: I do think they cuddle fairly frequently due to how friendly Mandalorians are with their own clans/groups/etc along with their personalities. Pre doesn’t strike me as someone who’s really dated beyond Bo-Katan (who gets folded into this relationship as their third) so having the chance to just hold someone romantically is nice. Meanwhile, Solus is an only child but spends large swaths of her time surrounded by others, be it fellow Mandalorians or her friends in the Order. She seeks out physical comfort. They also just don’t get to spend as much time together because their jobs pull them in separate ways.
Liberfe: Life is too short, especially for a Kingsglaive, to not spend a lot of time together. She’s perpetually chilly due to her Messenger of Shiva Status so cuddling her is a free cool down. It’s also really nice to drift off and wake up with each other in sight and arms length. That way everything is still real. Also, she just sleeps half on top of people so it was just gonna happen.

Thoughts on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [1 out of 2]
Just my raw thoughts, not a review or anything
I really loved Final Fantasy VII Remake when it came out during the early pandemic, it along with Animal Crossing: New Horizons kept me going during the difficult times before we started getting used to the isolation of the lockdown. Years later when I got a PS5 the first thing I wanted to play before I even Spider-Man: Miles Morales (the first game I got) or Astro’s Playroom was the PS5 exclusive (at the time) DLC chapter for Remake Episode Intermission which I also really loved since Yuffie has always been in my main party back when I played FF VII for the first time with that janky ass original PC port only available in Square Enix’s website.
All this is to say that Rebirth for me was a long time coming love at first sight, in a way similar to Remake I was disappointed by the previous main series entry be it XV or in this case XVI and then suddenly got my life completely taken over by Avalanche and their adventures, I was completely enthralled by it in a way few games have done and I was having a great time overall. So now that I’m done with the main story unlike my other posts I’m gonna talk a little liberally about the plot (I’ll mark Rebirth only spoilers with []) and bring in my own theories about the story.
So the game begins with you playing as Zack in a different version of the Sector 7 drop in a small sequence where Avalanche got crushed this in itself is strange as the timeframe from the death of Zack which he now survives in the ending of Remake which now somehow happens at the same time as an event that in the original timeline would have happened at around a month after his death, after he rescues Aerith we cut to the Nibelheim flashback which starts with a small section where we play as Sephiroth which I found really strange early on because it’s also the only time you play as him (until you finish the game) and finally after a bit you get to play as Cloud and do the rest of the flashback as it went in the original with the exception of a few more hints like Cloud’s VA also playing him as a faceless Shinra soldier clueing you in early on if you know where to look. Afterwards you do the rest of the story in a very similar way for a while, The Grasslands are fun starting area to explore and have plenty to do for what they are but aren’t too remarkable story wise except for the beginning of the Queen’s Blood side game that I will talk about later on, the real kickoff is the next area Junon which has you infiltrate Shinra’s main military facility and do a parade dance with the Honey Bee Inn minigame from Remake. Junon also introduces either the abundance of minigames that like the Playstation OG this game is completely filled with and unlike the original introduces Yuffie after the events of Intermission as a frankly impressively competent assassin [crazy that if not for Barrett she would have killed Rufus that early on] and teases her joining of the party later on rather than her antagonistic optional side quest in the original. The region started setting the mood that Rebirth would have but that got kicked into overdrive with Costa del Sol just doing its thing and completely upping the comedy and the drama of the story and it along with the rest of the Corel region being the main hub that introduces an absurd amount of minigames in Rebirth which depending on your tastes and thoughts on the original it’s either the most faithful aspect of the game or the one outdated thing they should have cut, which segues will into Gongaga because it sucks ass (I don't mind the minigames but I wanted the transition) yes it is home a to one of the coolest sections of the game [the girls rushing to the reactor to save the boys] but the open world aspect of Gongaga is bad and that seems to be the overall sentiment of the internet so I won’t dwell in it too much as it’s followed by Cosmo Canyon which is a great region with that weird FF trend that we have since XV of doing a small little horror section in all of them and soon after we head to Nibel and which again does a fantastic job with the story [except for the Cait Sith section that wasn’t all that] and finally we head to the ending zone and that I will save for the ending discussion in a bit.

Final Fantasy XV- Fate & Destiny
Chapter Fourteen, Part Two
notes: smut/sex/mild language mature 18+
I took a step back, hitting the foldout bed with the back of my knees. “But… it’s daytime! And everyone’s right outside the door!”
“It’ll be quick. I just need to know that you want me, Deni.” He took me by the shoulders, “I need a little assurance that you’re still considering me.”
I stepped to my right, putting a few inches between us, not bothering to hide the venom in my words, “And a quickie now is the way to prove that?”
He sighed, realizing the error of his ways. “No. You’re right.”
But I don’t think he was completely wrong. My mind tells me I did the right thing, but my body was just as ready as his to make this happen. I reached out and clutched his belt buckle as he began to turn away. He paused, glancing back at me.
My heartbeat pulsed hard throughout my body as I whispered, “We’ve got about five minutes before they get suspicious.”
The first minute went by with fevered kissing and insults that our boots couldn’t come off faster. Boots, pants and underwear scattered across the floor. We didn’t waste time removing our tops.
Minute two. Kissing and getting a real look at each other in the daylight. He was at full attention when I touched him, and from between my legs, his fingers came away wet.
Minute three. I was standing facing him, pressed against the bathroom door when he entered me. It was amazing, and as he pumped at me, groaning with effort and pleasure, I clasped his shoulders tight. Breathing hard, I began to think maybe I could spend my life with him.
Minute four. My trembling knees made standing awkward, so he carried me to the bed he and Ignis had occupied just a few hours before. We had to lay length-ways, and he grabbed my hips, pumping faster. I feared we were rocking the camper and everyone would know what we were doing, but it felt too good to stop.
Minute five. Gladio slid the pillow from the pillowcase and muttered that he was ready. I had no idea what that meant until he pulled out, ejecting into the pillowcase instead of me. He lay beside me, panting, and he smiled. “I love you, Deni.”
Minute six. I sat up on my elbow to lean over and peck his lips. At that moment, I was ready to say those words. “I love you, Gladio.”
He sighed in relief that I had finally admitted it and took me into his arms, pulling me onto his chest. “Let’s take today off and lay here until tomorrow morning.”
The door handle jiggled, and someone knocked. “Come on, how long does it take to wash your hands? Your breakfast is getting cold.”
I pulled away in fear that we would be found half-naked like this, and I reached for the blanket.
“Noct,” Gladio deduced. He ran a finger down my side before sitting up. “Well, duty calls. Need any help?”
I shook my head as he got up, walking bare-assed to find his clothes and wash up. I got up after, wiping myself down with a wet washcloth and then dressing. Catching my reflection in the bathroom mirror, I saw my cheeks were still bright red with exertion and my legs felt like limp noodles. I shooed him toward the door.
“Go on,” I told him, “It’s been too long already. I’ll stay in here, and wash this pillowcase too.”
With a nod, he followed my suggestion and stepped out.
I stayed in the bathroom, washing my face, washing dirty clothes, wondering if I wasn’t doing something terrible. It felt so right when we were together, but I always had doubts afterward.
“Here, babe!” Gladio called out. When I opened the door, he was gone, but there was a breakfast plate on the table. I hung up the wet clothes over the shower curtain to dry, fixed my hair, and sat down to eat, a smile on my face from hearing him call me ‘babe.’ Not a minute went by before the door opened and Ignis joined me at the table.
“Really?” was all he said, a stern, disappointed expression on his face.
My expression didn’t falter, thinking of Gladio’s smile as he said he loved me.
“You do realize your mother was outside.”
The pancakes were good, but the eggs were especially fluffy. I really did miss my mom’s cooking. I purposely replied with my mouth full, “She approves.”
“Excuse me?”
“Have you talked to Gladio? Because he’ll tell you the same thing. She likes him. Have you ever spoken to him about his future? Or do you just lecture people until they give in to you?”
“Actually, most people respect what I have to say.”
“Fine,” I took another delicious bite, “Go talk to them.”
Ignis shifted in his seat uncomfortably, but he continued, “Ardenia, this... business with Gladio… you understand he’s not serious, right? I’ve known him a lot longer than you have, and I… I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
I set my fork down, suddenly losing my appetite. Perhaps I was correct to have doubts about him. “Why would you say that? Are you implying that he’s lying to me, just to...” I couldn’t say the words; I didn’t want to admit out loud that we were messing around. Luckily, we heard Prompto’s voice outside.
“Hey guys! It’s Umbra! Umbra’s here!”
Ignis stood and I followed suit, but he paused at the door, turning to me. “I will not lie to you. And I will not lie for them. I think he has the best of intentions, but don’t expect results.” With that, Ignis stepped outside.
Drawing a deep breath, I tried to steady my nerves and my shaking legs. Now was not the time to wonder if Gladio was using me or not. Following Ignis out, I saw Noctis leaning over a gray dog with white markings on his eyebrows.
“Hey boy,” Noctis greeted, taking a small red notebook from the dog’s collar. He flipped through a few pages before writing a message inside, slipping the book back into place before any of us could see what he sent.
“Where’d the dog come from?” I asked quietly.
Despite the awkward lecture a moment ago, Ignis answered amiably, “Umbra is a messenger between Noctis and Lady Lunafreya. He allows them to communicate although they haven’t seen each other since they were children.”
“They haven’t? But they’re getting married?”
“Some people have a deeper calling than basic desires.”
I frowned, taking offense.
Noct stood as Umbra ran forward a few feet, then paused, looking back. Noct smiled, “Guess he wants us to follow him.”
Without time to gather our belongings, we rushed after Noct and Umbra past the Chocobo Post, past the truck trading weapons, to a small, quiet clearing.
There ahead, Noct was speaking to a fair-skinned woman with silken black hair that reached her slim waist. She seemed to appear out of nowhere, as no one saw her approach. Her dress was finely tailored in black and white. She spoke in riddles, but only Noct and Ignis seemed to understand the meaning. She never opened her eyes while she spoke, and I wondered if she was blind.
I stepped closer to Ignis to whisper, “Who is she?”
“You can see her?”
“Why wouldn’t I? That’s a strange question.”
“She is a link between the Six and the Oracle, making the Gods’ Wills known to her alone. Her name is Gentiana.”
I was too far back to hear all that was said between this person- deity?- and Noct, but the storm clouds threatening earlier began to produce purple lightning, and I heard her say something about Noct finding power in three locations. We had only turned for a moment to talk and witness that strange lightning, but both Umbra and Gentiana had vanished by the time we blinked.
“Noct,” Ignis adjusted his glasses, “I suggest we make this our top priority.”
“Yeah,” Gladio agreed, “Deities over Royal Tombs.”
The prince nodded and we headed back to camp to pack up. I really didn’t want to face my mother after what had just happened in the camper, so I busied myself helping one of Wiz’s few employees saddle up the Chocobos. Noct procured us a few more bounties from Wiz, and Prompto got to fulfill one of his lifelong dreams by renting a team of Chocobos for a day.
The birds were quite docile now and easy to control. I never realized it while I was training them, but now with five of us together, it was hard to ignore the caws Chocobos made with every single jump. There was no way we were going anywhere stealthily while we rode the birds. I did inform the guys along the way that once your Chocobo trusts you, it will begin to learn new things and become a faithful ride, even respond to a new name. Needless to say, but Prompto was excited and began to ramble off a dozen name options. My favorite was how happy he sounded calling his, “Little Buddy.”
Our path wasn’t hard to follow; rain was coming down in buckets, and we were getting drenched tracking the singular bolt of purple lightning. It led us back toward the behemoth’s lair, and the birds were too frightened to continue inside. We had to go on foot. While the others rushed ahead, I was paranoid about fighting Voretooths in the rain again, or heading back to the quarry so soon, but the lightning led us on a different path. Noct’s destination was in an alcove, where a single leafless, petrified tree stood, embedded in rock. It was covered in a thick, hard substance that reminded me of the crystallized pillars around the Disc. We were about twenty feet back when Noctis placed his hand upon the tree. Lightning struck it, sending a current of energy throughout the prince’s body. He stepped back, and as he turned to us, doubled over in pain, one hand pressed against his temple. I was afraid he had been electrocuted, but he didn’t appear hurt except for his headache. He’d had so many of them lately that I wished I could absorb the pain for him.
Ignis stated, “A small price to pay for communing with Gods and Deities.”
Noct forced himself upright, his lip curled, “Let’s just get to the next one.”

Games of 2022 For most of 2022, the video game industry was defined more by its controversies than its future. Microsoft desperately trying to acquire Activision Blizzard, a gaming company with its own set of controversies that involve sexual misconduct, and abuse towards its developers and employees, ultimately creating a toxic workplace; This also includes Ubisoft, is just One of the many things that stick out like a sore thumb when discussing anything involving the video games industry.
Although Some studios have unionized to combat crunch and toxic cultures, There were still various things that made this past year in the world of video games end with a bad taste in your mouth.
The google Stadia being Dead on arrival along with Babylon’s Fall, The controversy involving bayonetta 3 and its voice actress, Electronic arts and various other companies constantly pushing loot box gambling in video games, to the inclusion of NFTs into video games by square Enix just just a tip of the iceberg.
But that’s not what I am here for.
As much as negative this world can get, there are still some signs of hope and people who are out there creating ambitious, satisfying sequels of already established franchises to even creating engrossing, refreshing original titles that have been gracing our console of choice the minute we hit the start button.
Even with what is happening, the Nostalgia Roadtrip Network is dedicated to bringing you the best that we can do to bring a smile to your face by spotlighting these talented artist, composers, and musicians that have elevated our gaming experiences since we first learned to pick up a controller, hit a button on a keyboard or swiped across our phones.

I think the other reason is that, to be incredibly blunt about it, Monty Oum died.
Or -- okay, so in the Final Fantasy fandom, there is a group of people who can charitably be called ‘Versus XIII Truthers.’
Once upon a time, there was a game announced, Final Fantasy Versus XIII -- it was never made, it never really existed, but there were trailers for it and depending on who you ask, there may have been a very rough story outline for it (maybe. The story outline sometimes circulated around the web originates from a Reddit ‘leak,’ and has no source other than that).
Anyway, Versus XIII was announced in 2006, had a few trailers and ‘gameplay videos’ (which weren’t real gameplay videos, just Things Made To Look Like Gameplay) over the next eight years, and then was eventually rebranded to be Final Fantasy XV, under a new director (switching from often fan beloved Tetsuya Nomura to Hajime Tabata). ‘Rebranded’ is used somewhat loosely here, since we know from dev diaries that actually it was made basically from scratch -- principle photography for the game’s landscapes wasn’t even done by the time directors changed and production pivoted to XV instead of Versus XIII.
But among people who didn’t like XV, for whatever reason, Versus XIII became a potent myth. Since it never existed beyond trailers and tech demos, and never would exist, it could be all things to all people. If you had a vision of How You Wanted Final Fantasy XV to be, Versus XIII could be that vision -- you would never be proven wrong, since the game wouldn’t ever be released and Nomura was unlikely to alienate his parent company by talking about what he had planned (assuming he even had plans at all -- as late as 2012, devs were reporting that he came into the office wanting to overhaul the entire thing into a musical). You could say “I would’ve loved Versus XIII, that’s the game I wanted, but XV stole it from me.” We saw the same thing with the Justice League movie. It changed directors, and people who were unsatisfied with it immediately latched onto the idea of a Snyder Cut, an ephemeral, fictional version of the movie that would’ve been the one they wanted. And while a Snyder Cut did eventually materialise -- it materialised long after the movie was released, and with extensive brand new material, because it wasn’t a movie that had actually existed beforehand, it was a movie that was created in response to fan criticisms. And -- Monty Oum died. The creative team working on RWBY now are still basically the same creative team as before (or at least they were before Rooster Teeth fired half of them recently), but Monty Oum was the big name that people had latched onto, and without him around, it’s very easy to go “Well, the version of RWBY that exists in my head is the true version of RWBY. It’s the version we would have had if Oum was still alive.” He’s dead, after all. If you don’t like RWBY, and you choose to believe that the fanfic you made up in your head is definitely what he would’ve done, he can’t disagree with you or prove you wrong. You get to proclaim that whatever it was you thought could happen is the True Version, and everything else is an aberration.
People really latch onto imagined versions of characters and then get mad when the story doesn't follow them huh?
Yep.

Until Darkness Descends
FANDOM: Final Fantasy XV
PAIRING: Ardyn x Aera/reader (you are Aera, loosely based off of Aera Mirus Fleuret)
RATING: Teen
SERIES: The Fall Part 1 of 4
CHAPTER: 5
You leaned against the balcony railing in your guest room and stared at the view. The sleepless city was illuminated by a myriad of colorful lights, flickering and glowing like tiny stars. Meanwhile the night sky remained empty and void. It was as though the celestial beacons were dragged down to Eos, leaving the heavens shrouded in darkness. Only the moon remained. It stood sentinel over the busy city and painted your otherwise dark room in pale milky light.
The duffle bag you brought with you was on the bed, still stuffed full with the clothing you had no intention of unpacking. You weren’t going to stay here for long anyway. In fact, you planned to leave tonight. Your duffle bag was ready and you still had the clothes on your back from earlier today. The only thing you needed was a way out. As you stared down at the long stretch of space between your balcony and the ground below, you knew climbing or jumping down was out of the question.
Before you could wrack your brain for more ideas, you felt the air shift. “Leaving so soon?” Came a familiar mellifluous voice from behind you.
“Uncle Ardyn? What are you doing here?” You asked.
“Visiting a dear friend, of course.” He answered. “As well as to congratulate you on your new position”
You frowned. “How do you know about that?” How did he even know you would be in Insomnia? You haven't seen the older man in a few weeks, let alone earlier today. There was no logical explanation for him knowing about the invitation as well as the proposal.
“I have my ways.” Ardyn answered cryptically. Now that you thought about it, he always knew where to find you and he would always appear at the most opportune moments, usually whenever you needed him or anyone else to talk to. A nagging sense of dread forced the hair at the back of your neck to stand. You trusted uncle Ardyn but something felt off about all of these encounters that you’ve never considered before. But before that nagging feeling could take root, you took a deep breath and forced yourself to relax. This was uncle Ardyn. You have known him since you were five years old. You love him and trust him, sure he is a bit strange and would always appear out of nowhere, but that didn’t mean anything malevolent. Perhaps his magic makes him more intune to your emotions, allowing him to come to your aid whenever you need him. But that still didn’t explain away how he would know where to find you.  “Now, I may not be one to stand on ceremony but such an occasion as this calls for a celebration, don’t you agree?”
“No…I don’t want to be here.” You answered truthfully.
His amber eyes softened. “It's your home you yearn for, isn’t it?”
You nodded your head when an idea came to you. “Do you think you could take me there?”
Ardyn hummed at the request. Perhaps this could be an alternative to his original plan. He truly had no real desire to kill you. You were sweet and kind and full of so much life, he wanted to bask in your light for a little while longer. Stealing you away just might be the next best option. He could take you to the heart of the empire, somewhere far away from the chosen king. But what of the gods? Surely they wouldn’t allow you to part from Noctis for long if your presence was truly needed to fulfill the prophecy.
He sighed wearily. It was probably inevitable that you would find your way back to Insomnia, back to prince Noctis’ side. The only way to keep that scenario from happening is to kill you.  Ardyn suddenly found his mouth to be too dry. “Of course, my dear.” He said before giving you a smile, one he hoped felt real enough to assuage your inquiring mind as well as silence the doubts within his own. “But before we depart, it would be such a shame to allow this cider to go to waste.”
        “Cider?”
With a wave of his hand a bottle of apple cider appeared in his grasp, accompanied by two empty golden goblets. “Sparkling apple juice. It is to your liking, yes?”
You answered yes and Ardyn handed you a cup. The amber liquid bubbled and fizzed as he filled your cup before doing the same to his. He clanked his cup against yours with a gentle, “cheers”, and brought the goblet to his lips. He watched as you mimicked his movements, bringing the cup to your lips. To grant you a peaceful death didn’t take much thought on his part. After finding out your purpose, he plucked a bulb of nightshade from Verstael Besithia’s garden back in Gralea and laced the cider with it. The poison from the plant works swiftly as well as painlessly, easing its victim into a dreamless sleep before gradually killing them in a matter of minutes.
You tilted the cup but before Ardyn could witness you consume the poison, he was suddenly plucked out of reality. First there was darkness, impenetrable and all consuming before a deluge of light burst through the dark and bathed his new surroundings in color.  Shades of blue light illuminated the void. There was a smattering of stars here and there where the light didn’t reach and Ardyn knew where he was instantly. How could he possibly forget this wretched place? His eyes scanned the empty space before they fell upon the being whose very presence ignited a raging fire in his core.
Ardyn gritted his teeth so hard he thought they would crack. “What is it now?” He hissed.
“You know why thou hast been summoned.” The god said, the thunderous boom of his voice echoed across the void. “The child has been chosen to serve an important role in what has been ordained, a role thou is not permitted to disturb.”
Ardyn scoffed, “I wonder what role that may be. Could it be you’ve misjudged the capabilities of your chosen champion, so much so that you must rely on the aid of a new contender?”
“To aid the chosen king in his quest is not her true calling. Her purpose is to thee. She will serve as the catalysis to bring forth your salvation.” Bahamut revealed.
“My salvation?” Ardyn asked. This felt eerily reminiscent of his previous encounter with the apathetic god. So much so that he could already feel the god's inequitable decree in his bones before the words were even uttered. Just like last time, Ardyn knew Bahamut's words would be life altering, soul crushing, and final. And just like last time Ardyn was prepared to rebel, even if that meant getting tortured by Aera's likeness all over again.
“Amidst the darkest hour, she shall serve as a beacon of light and drive away the darkness that distorted thy heart.” Bahamut explained. “Once the girl revives the part of thee that remains unmarred by the dark, thou shalt finally be free of the scourge’s influence and power, in time for thy departure from this world. That shall be your salvation.”
That flame in Ardyn's core burst into a full blown forest fire, incinerating all rational thought until all he could see was red. He could kill him. His fingernails stabbed into the flesh of his palm with the need to tear into the god until Bahamut was nothing but a bloody disfigured heap of flesh. Ardyn gritted his teeth and this time he was sure they were bleeding. He could honestly laugh at the absurdity of his circumstances, stripped of his calling and condemned to two millennia of suffering, only to be made a sacrificial pawn and ordained to be weakened by a cheap copy of his late wife, all to make the duty of slaying him easier on the chosen king. And Bahamut had the audacity to call this salvation.
His eyes narrowed into slits. An inferno resided in his veins, scorching him from the inside out but his anger never wavered. “I have no use for your salva-” His center of gravity collapsed and he was falling through the void. With a violent jolt, he opened his eyes to find himself back inside your guest room. You were still holding the goblet to your lips mid-sip, frozen in time for only a fraction of a second before time resumed and he watched as you gulped down the liquid. You finished with a satisfied "ah" and looked up at him.
“That was really good.” You said, wiping your mouth with your sleeve. “Are you ready to go now?” Ardyn observed you. Your eyes were sharp with crystal clarity, your hands weren’t clammy or shaking, and you didn’t appear seconds away from collapsing. You were completely fine, as though you didn’t just consume Eos’ most dangerous poison.
Ardyn hummed. It seemed you were truly under the gods’ veil of protection. They won’t let any life threatening harm befall you, at least not until the day of reckoning, but no matter. Ardyn knew from experience how easy it is to fall out of the gods’ favor. You won’t be any different, he will make sure of that.
“I’m afraid not, my dear.” Ardyn said.
Your face instantly fell. “B-but you said you would take me!” You whined.
“That I did, at least during a moment of forgetfulness. The roads are quite perilous after dark. It wouldn’t be wise to spirit you away just yet, not with all daemons prowling about at this late hour.” He said and that seemed to appease you a bit. Your shoulders drooped forward and you fiddled with the empty goblet in your hands but you didn’t complain.
You were a sensible girl despite being so young. His Aera was like that too, she was far more reasonable than he was when they were children, much like how you are now. Ardyn had to look away from you. The uncanny similarities between you and her made his heart ache, but those similarities weren't real. You weren’t real. You were just a doppelganger, fashioned by the gods’ with his Aera’s likeness, for the intended purpose of aiding in his destruction.
He refused to let those heartless bastards win. Ardyn didn’t care what he must do, he will make you lose the god’s protection even if that means destroying you.
“Okay…” You said suddenly, turning towards him with your pinkie finger extended. “But pinkie promise you’ll take me there in the morning.”
“How about this,” Ardyn started, curling his hand around yours and lowering your pinkie, “give your stay another few days before you make a final decision. If the royal court is not to your liking, then I will personally escort you back to your beloved home.” He promised when the idea came to him. That is exactly what Ardyn should do, must do, destroy you. Break you, turn you into a shell of your former self. The gods’ have no use for a broken tool and will discard you the same as they did to him.
You wrinkled your nose before shimmying your hand out of his grasp. “Hmm…promise?” You asked, extending your pinkie once more.
Ardyn cracked a smile despite himself and curled his pinkie around yours. “Cross my heart and hope to die, or so they say.” But perhaps he doesn’t have to set his plans for you into motion just yet. There will be time in the future after the fall of Insomnia for that. After all, Ardyn doesn’t want the gods to catch wind of his plan and put a stop to it before it could begin. He could use these years to fool the gods, cultivate your trust and adoration for him and make the gods think their plans are unfolding the way they intended for them to. Once the time comes, he will destroy that illusion and show the gods he cannot be so easily manipulated by a mere copy of his late wife. Once you are thoroughly broken and without the gods’ protection, he will kill you.
