bahh i want to chat about learning french but its kind of difficult. like either its super uninteresting to most people or i feel like i can come off as pretentious or whatever if im not careful and noo im just excited to both play videogames and learn a language. im literally a nerdd. anyway im going to make a post on that
#idk ive come to realise that im lowkey boring lmao#problem is i tend to have these massive interests that last for either 6 months or a year before i completely move onto the next shiny thin#like a couple years ago it was guitar#a while back it was stage lighting#now its french#smaller ones have been rats fish woodworking balloon animals musicals 3d modelling urban planning ect ect ect#and theres a part of me that always worries that im going to do the same with french#i was learning spanish but i had to give it up for french#the few constant interests in my life have been m1n3craft and drawing#but im never really hyperfixated on drawing in fact my best improvement occurs when im not focused on it lmao#idk point is i dont want to loose hope on french because i know how long it takes to learn and because the feeling of working towards it is#the best#but when your interests change so much and so dramatically it can feel like those that are most important to you are slipping away from you#idk this wasnt what i was expecting to talk about#though i do know that my siblings also go through interest phases like this dramatically so its probably not just a me thing

what sort of music first comes to mind when someone says pop + how old are you?
#this is so vague but i suddenly realised something#bc i was thinking about the origins of Popular Music in like the 40s and 50s and how the sound of that is entirely different to modern pop#but then it's such a weird genre bc it is just. what's popular. like it has no defining sound#it's just a mixture of whatever genre's are popular#e.g. in the 2000s there was a lot of guitar bc like pop punk emo and indie were big then#whereas in the 90s i feel it had more r&b and soul kind of influences#obviously not all of it but i guess just bc those were big genres in those decades#wait not Soul soul for the 90s but ykwim like. very Vocals kind of music. if that makes sense. idek#anyway. but yeah so it's a genre that doesn't really describe it's sound#so when a song you've never heard gets called pop surely nothing should come to mind? bc pop could be anything#but then i realised i do have a thing in my head of what ''pop'' sounds like#and it's like a kesha katy perry one direction type of sound. bc i grew up in the late 00s/early 10s. so of course that's what it is#but i bet if i ask my parents what pop sounds like to them it'd be different#and that is so fascinating to me idk why. music evolution autism mode has been fully activated#so if you read this hello thank you and also please lmk what you think pop sounds like + your age or generation or whatever#ramble

why does everything i get really into always end up being so god damn niche. by the year 2035 i am going to be blogging exclusively about the interpersonal relationships between the pillbugs and snails hiding underneath the bricks lining the flowerbeds in my parent's garden.

#last night we were both a little sleepy.#a little wine-drunk.#i asked him to play me something on the guitar while i leaned on his shoulder.#he said he only knows a few songs. i said that's fine#whatever you want.#first song: like real people do by hozier#which has a very tender place in my heart because it's the last song i sang for a real performance (2015).#so i still know all the words.#and he didn't know that!#it just happened to be the song.#anyway it was 1230am. anyway my jacket smells like his apartment.#anyway early this morning i said i thought romance was built of small acts of devotion. like how every morning my dad makes my mom coffee#because she sleeps worse and takes longer to wake up and he wants her to not have to worry about another thing in the morning.#when she comes downstairs every day he has it ready for her to take to work.#he makes it separately because he drinks an entirely different coffee than she does. but he makes it because he wants her to have it.#it's one of many small repeated acts of love they do for each other. they're still in love with each other after 30 years.#anyway my boyfriend is a notorious instant coffee fiend.#it's easy and he likes the flavor.#but when we got up this morning he pulled out a bag of coffee beans and a hand-grinder and said: would you like me to make you coffee?

#only thing i want from it is a bass playthrough lol#the guitar playthrough lives rent free in my head and on my phone but i need the bass and also the drums ones#but yeah. the intro starting out ominous then the rest of the instruments coming in then the verse riff of all time#and jt starting the verse with 'blood starved machine in a feeding frenzy' then jesse with the clean chorus#then finishing the chrous and going back to playing the verse riff effortlessly live (its a hard riff he said it is himself)#and the tremolo riff and mini breakdown before second chorus which leads straight into a classic jesse cash guitar solo#then the bridge/buildup part with the buried distant cleans then the 'sleepless nights hearing voices... the dead are not dreaming-#-can't you hear them screaming?' and breakdown! then breakdown intensifies! the energy on stage is at its peak! and it ends. just like that.#but like. the screaming? brutal. the cleans? on point. the guitars? impossible as always. the bass? felt deep in the bones.#the drums? written better and better. the lyrics? metal as fuck. the ambience? suitably ominous. the band as a whole? immaculate.#its not even their best song or my favourite but it is metalcore song of all time and erra song of the moment#erra#metalcore#i am incredibly normal about their music as you can probably tell (i want jesse cash to teach me guitar)
