thinking about mafia shen family au. the system is fucking around with shen qingqius life again and is like yk what if ur not gonna tell your husband anything about yourself then ill force you to. have fun! :D

sqq doesn’t even have the time to think 'wtfff??' before Everything Happens. shen yuan’s soul gets shoved back into his original body just moments before he dies. in this version of the au he was choking on food, so he gets the lovely experience of having his airflow blocked again! lucky for him, the system dragged binghe along for the ride so he is saved before he dies again.

this route for mafia au means that the shen family never had to grieve shen yuan. im not sure how the Family reacts to their a-yuan suddenly having a very strong and intimidating significant other (boyfriend? husband?!??? wdym he got married without telling us!?!?) all of a sudden. does shen yuan come out to his family?? no, but also yes, but also not really. they knew he wasn't straight this entire time, so its more like they are coming out to him instead of the other way around. god knows they have bigger skeletons in their closets, they don't care if a twink is in there too.

there is less angst here, and it mostly centers around the comedic factor of shen yuan showing binghe around his house only for them to "stumble upon" an entire closet filled with guns..!?! shen yuan is just standing there in complete horror as binghe grabs a whole ass ar-15!?!?? hes looking at him with the most innocent eyes asking him what this strange metal object is. jesus fucking christ. his white lotus is holding a gun and now he has to explain gun control policies while his brain is leaking out of his ears. he opens his mouth right before an alarm starts blaring everywhere. he’s saved by the bell! except not really, because now six members of his Family are surrounding them and pointing several guns at binghe!!!!! what the actual fuck is going on here!!!!!! this is not how the 'meet the parents' arc is supposed to go!!

Never getting over Fulcrum being a project manager...

Idk why, but something about that is so funny to me. Not just because the title of "project manager" is inherently kinda funny for a Decepticon, but also because-

1. It's vague sounding and hard to explain irl because it technically exists in multiple fields, like healthcare or manufacturing, which surely translates into canon in some way.

2. In canon, it's simultaneously a really mundane, innocuous sounding job, yet it's also a super morally awful position to reside over depending on the context. (*cough* forced colonization and cyberforming *cough*)

And 3. It solidifies the fact that behind all the surface level militaristic work we get with both the Decepticons and Autobots, there's also Cons and Bots with "normal" jobs in both factions.

Like, sure yeah we get scientists and doctors, engineers and programmers, but usually in big important or warfront positions. (For plot reasons, understandably.) But it's also really funny and interesting to think of those that worked background positions, or minor jobs.

Like an Autobot working in their equivalent of an HR department, or a Decepticon who runs one of their outpost's or starship's kitchens.

Just all the pre-war jobs that didn't just disappear with the war, but instead evolved to exist within the factions.

It's particularly funny with the Decepticons though, because it could be a super mundane job or situation, but because it's them, it has to have an air of ~e v i l~ to it, either legitimately and/or merely for the vibes, like Tarn's "performance reviews".

Winter Warmers Day 5: Fireworks (...very loosely.) Maxiel. About 900 words.

Max is laying on the floor when Daniel calls him.

"Hello?"

He wasn't expecting Daniel to call him. He had already talked to his mom, his dad and his sister, and everyone else had just texted. But Daniel calls.

"Maxy! Happy new year!"

It sounds like Daniel is outside, maybe at a party. Max is not sure of where he is, if he's still in America, or back home in Australia, or maybe somewhere in Europe, so he isn't sure if it's the new year for him already or not.

"Happy new year Daniel," he says anyway.

There's more fireworks going off, further down the harbor, and Max turns his attention back to Jimmy and Sassy, hiding under the couch.

"Having a fun night?" Daniel asks, the swell of music in the background almost swallowing his words.

Max isn't sure why Daniel is trying to make conversation now or why he called at all.

"I am on the floor," he tells him, partially because it's the truth and partially because he can perfectly picture Daniel's puzzled expression.

"Are you...okay?" Daniel asks, confused and a bit hesitant. It makes Max want to laugh, but also cry, for some stupid reason. He wishes he didn't still know Daniel like this.

"The cats are of course very scared, so I am keeping them company," he explains, reaching a hand under the couch, leaving it there for Sassy to sniff. "It's been midnight, and they're still doing fireworks."

"Oh!" Daniel explains, sounding a bit relieved. Max wonders if he was thinking about sending someone to check on Max already. "So no parties for you?"

"No, no parties."

He doesn't offer any explanation for it. He doesn't owe it to him, to tell him about the invitations he had turned down, about the ring that had been in his dresser, useless now. He's not heartbroken, not really, but he didn't feel like facing the world, freshly broken up, on the night he had been planning to propose.

He doesn't even know if Daniel knows about his breakup yet, if he's seen the posts on Instagram, the ones he didn't even write, just pressed post on.

"Okay, well I hope you're having fun anyway."

Daniel's voice is weird again, and the fireworks going off outside his windows are maybe rattling Max a bit too, which is stupid, because he's seen fireworks a hundred times.

He kind of wants to go to bed.

"Why are you calling, Daniel?" he asks, instead of saying goodbye like a sensible person would have.

Daniel lets out a startled sound, like he wasn't expecting the question, and Max almost wants to shake him, ask him do you think I have forgotten? Do you think I don't know you anymore?

"Uhm, I..."

Max can almost see it, the way Daniel is deciding if he wants to be truthful or to put on his mask again. Can almost feel it, when he chooses in the sigh he lets out.

"Listen, I wanted to ask if you were okay. Martin said you have been hiding away, and that he's worried about you."

Max bristles a little at that. He hasn't been hiding! Sure, maybe he has turned down a few more invites than usual, replying to texts a little slower, but he's allowed to want his peace and quiet, since he's always busy during the season.

By the end, he wasn't even sure either of them loved each other anymore, so he's not even heartbroken. He just. Needs space. He's allowed to want his space.

Apparently though, Daniel still knows him too, because he interrupts before Max can get his angry reply out.

"Hey, don't shoot the messenger! I'm just checking on you, Maxy."

Max sighs, feeling himself deflate, and closes his eyes.

"I'm fine. You don't have to worry."

He doesn't know if Daniel is worried about him, he just said Martin was worried, but it's nice to pretend. Max is a little drunk and a little lonely, he's allowed to fool himself for a minute.

"What about a compromise?" Daniel suggests, making Max open his eyes again.

"What kind?"

"I tell Martin you're fine and to not worry about you," Daniel starts, clearly knowing he's gotten Max's attention, the smile audible in his voice, "and you let me personally check on you when I am in Monaco next week."

"Deal."

It's maybe embarrassing to agree this quickly, but the double win of getting Martin off his ass and the opportunity of seeing Daniel soon is just too tempting.

It makes Daniel laugh, sound washing over Max, drowning out the fireworks.

"Great! I'll text you then," he says. It sounds like he's getting closer to the party again, maybe walking back. For a moment, Max wishes he was there instead of here, but Sassy's whiskers against his fingers immediately change his mind.

"Happy new year, Maxy. I'll see you next week!"

If Max was more foolish, he'd think Daniel doesn't want say goodbye. It seems like Max is pretty foolish tonight.

"Happy new year."

There's a moment of silence, in which Max would think Daniel just hung up if it wasn't for the background noise, then Daniel speaks again, rushed and a little nervous.

"It's a date!"

Before Max can even think about a reply, the call disconnects, and he's left on the carpet, with two scared cats, the sound of fireworks, and a thumping heart.

It's my OCs' first birthday today, yippie!! They're enjoying their birthday with some tiny company and a horribly baked cake. But it's the thought that counts!

These are Pai, Aurelio, and Lizzie. They are a couple and run a diner together in the low suburbs of Halcandra. Their shop also serves as a safe space and shelter for other Star Borns just like them.

They also tend to take in the more little ones of their kind, soon after they've first formed. They look after them and teach them stuff, before letting them go to live independently. But they're always welcome back in their house! Be it for shelter, or a nice cup of coffee.

More about them under the cut. Be warned it gets kinda long.

Pai's ability is Cook. When he was little, he used to use his ability to make food to share with his whole neighborhood as a way of uniting everyone.

Since then he's been steadily building towards a goal, to open his very own Diner. He wanted to create a space for his community to thrive in, though he was severely disadvantaged in such a large city.

He's not one to give up and he always looks on the positive side of things. He tends to spoil the kids they look after with treats, and has a hard time saying no, so he often takes on more than he can handle.

He is the one that looks after the well-being of the kids, and generally, things that require a bit more... Tact. He looks after them when they're sick or injured, which is how he ends up meeting future GSA founders Arthur, Erebus, and Anansi.

Aurelio grew up in a scrapyard with 6 others of their kind, being kept there as guard dogs for the paranoid old man who owned the place. They were encouraged to fight each other for fun, which is how they got the scar across their face.

When they got too big and troublesome, most of them were kicked out of their home and left to fend for themselves.

Aurelio's Spear ability eventually landed them a job as a Knight for Halcandra's elites, where they worked alongside a few of their friends. Their job was to guard the meeting room and defend their assignment from threats.

A few years into this job, they and other soldiers were given a mission. A pair of dragons were nesting at the bottom of the Haldera Volcano, they had to get them out. Dragons are calm if not provoked, so relocation shouldn't be difficult...

As it turns out, the dragons were a mated pair. A male and a female, and they were viciously protecting their egg clutch.

In the battle against the dragons, Aurelio was injured and burned by fire, but their natural fire immunity allowed them to be one of the few survivors. Nevertheless, the Knights were successful in their mission and managed to drive the dragons out.

The 4 eggs that weren't crushed during the battle were passed off to the Ancients for research. They became the Guardian Angel Landia later on.

She was forced to retire from Knighthood at age 31. Due to the lasting effects of their injuries, Aurelio is the one who spends most of the time with the children. For better and for worse.

Because of their childhood, they have very skewed ideas of how to treat children. She'll often put them in dangerous situations unintentionally since she has no frame of reference to tell her that taking kids out to the Gator Pond isn't a very good idea.

Aurelio teaches the rougher life lessons. They've been through quite a bit, so they want the kids to learn how to defend themselves, and to be careful and not have others take advantage of them.

She does most of the disciplining and the one that gives timeouts and other such punishments. She is of the opinion that sometimes rough love is necessary to set someone straight. She's calm and loving, but a bit stuck in the old way of doing things.

Lizzie, real name Angeliz, is a 2-time college dropout who grew up upper class despite her species' disadvantage. She never had many friends growing up, since other kids didn't really like her, and resigned herself to being what her parents wanted her to be.

She tried to study medicine but quit after 2 years. Not wanting to further disappoint her parents, she went into law. Which she also hated but tried to commit to finishing despite how miserable it made her.

Meeting Pai and Aurelio helped her get through the year, but after Aurelio was injured, she quit law and started living with them. She helped Pai balance his business with taking care of Aurelio and eventually used some of the money she still had left to give Pai's Diner the little push forward it needed.

Despite the many etiquette classes she took as a child, Lizzie completely lacks social skills. She's a total disaster, especially when talking to someone she likes. Once she gets comfortable, her true personality starts to shine through.

She's a huge slob and kind of vulgar despite her cute appearance. She's easily angered and does not like to be teased, which makes putting up with bratty kids more difficult for her.

She tends to treat kids as little adults instead, which causes her to not be very mindful of their sensitivities. Even when in a good mood, trying to do her best, she always ends up saying the wrong thing and makes everything worse.

She handles the business aspect of their Diner, crunching numbers and reading over legal documents. She's really smart and knowledgeable, so she's the one who tends to teach kids reading, writing, and math.

Her ability is Bubble. She never used to like it, it was silly and useless to her, so she kept it hidden for years. After meeting her partners and becoming happy, she's started blowing bubbles more frequently. The kids love them.
