PPFFB nono that's fair like. my god. the level of media illiteracy and horrific racism this fanbase spouts sometimes is sm of the most ghoulish, most evil and cruel i have ever interacted with and that's putting it Light iit's Like. it's extremely disheartening and awful, and unfortunately, very very rampant.

HOWEVER!!! i must say that despite my (warranted) haterisms to parts of the iwtv fanbase, it's also one of the most intelligent and creative ones i've interacted with. the art is amazing, both written and drawn, the analysis (when not done by the morons in the previous paragraph) is deeply engaging and thought provoking work! i've legit lost track of time more than once just reading iwtv meta, and i'm more than happy to share the blogs of sm of the ppl who's posts have done that if anyone is interested :] i've for sure reblogged some of their posts here!

and for iwtv itself, it's a fantastic show! the music, the framing, i have like. v v few complaints about it. it's truly incredible idk how to even describe it in a way that does it justice. don't let let one wack ass fanbase bar you from such a great piece of media smile if you're interested i definitely recommend it!

i do mean it when i say 10 years in the future, the dsmp itself might have some case of lost media bc of a mix of the amt of streams we can't recover, biased recaps, and the purges of dsmp-related accounts both on twt and tumblr. it is already hard for me to find streams unrelated to ctommy or cwilbur, and it doesn't help that a good percent of the analysis essay posts we've archived in dsmpanalysis have been completely deleted.

of course any person can experience any piece of media at any time but truly, the dsmp was something else when experienced live because it was a testament to the importance of perspective and individual choices on which story you wanted to follow. if it weren't for archiving projects and dedicated fans, the dsmp would have been perceived in such a one-sided way.

20% of the archived essays i've been sifting through have already heen deleted. a good portion of the fics i've bookmarked have been orphaned or deleted. besides the slight upset i feel about the story and the progress of the dsmp being deleted, i think i'm more upset about the complete decimation of fan content. it's like, i get why they deleted their stuff— the dsmp has its fair share of controversy— but what made the dsmp fun and worthwhile was the fan creativity.

and now a good percentage of that is gone. i don't hope to doompost about anything because i don't rlly think the fandom is going anywhere. but it is definitely a shock to me how much history of the dsmp has completely disappeared just in the span of 2 years.

shipping genloss characters feels like just a facade to ship the irl ccs because like. ...... the characters are Basically just the irl ccs in a universe where they were kidnapped by showfall..... they don't have real personalities, they aren't even acting consciously they are puppeted the Entire time because Everything is Scripted. All of it. shipping characters feels to me like u just missed the moral implications of tse where fans treats ccs like their play things to entertain them 🤷‍♂️

You wouldn't say "you missed the moral implications of tse where fans treat ccs like their play things to entertain them" about literally any other aspect of fan content, be real.

Using that logic literally anything like writing gen fanfics or making headcanons or any amount of rp etc etc is also "missing the moral implications" because you're using the characters as play things for your entertainment with those too.

I get being personally uncomfortable with the shipping but do not claim that these people are using a "facade" to ship the real ccs and that they "missed the moral implications" of genloss for treating characters like the characters they are.

i went to a mcyt meetup at a con once, but by 'mcyt' it was entirely dsmp fans and dsmp cosplayers. which i expected and was fine with! but it was noteworthy because like an hour into the meet someone spotted a grian cosplayer on the other side of the convention space and IMMIDIATELY all these dsmp kids were cheering and waving this grian over to join them and get photos with them. and that was just rlly special and magical to me.
