i dont even like the dream smp and im well aware that most of the members arent good people but like. when that mask song dropped some of you guys got WAY too comfortable being openly ableist towards him lmao
#ableism mention#brightts ramblings#like#yea the dsmp is cringe or problematic or whatever idk i dont keep up w it or the drama. im not a fan of it#but like. is it rlly that hard to not mock people for being disabled#like. invisible disabilities exist#criticize dream for the actually bad things he's done. not for sharing his experiences w adhd#even though the song wasnt good (i listened as a joke) it was surprisingly like.... really relatable tbh idk#obligatory comment that im not a dsmp fan because someone will def take this whole post in bad faith if i dont say that

a lot of former gifted kids would also straight up laugh at autistics and people w learning disabilities calling us retards and the like so I just dont feel bad for them
i feel like this is only half true in my experience and rlly dependent on the programs ur school offered but in mine there were definitely kids in both hs and middleschool who would mock other students with leaning disabilities but there were also students who never did that or tell their fellow classmates to stop but i feel like that mindset of “im special for being in these classes” is popular enough that a lot of students end up falling into hating or looking down on disabled students as a result, in my hs a majority of the gifted programs offered field trips better teachers better learning materials more resources etc while kids in struggling classes had virtually nothing and the process of getting an aid or tailored curriculum was frowned upon and hard to do, i was in gifted classes english and the difference between those classes and the regular ones were insane and completely unfair to the rest of the student body
