On the fourth day of Aro Week, I’m here for my fellow loveless aros: a collection post of my short stories with either loveless aromantic protagonists or protagonists whose experiences of attraction, closeness or connection aren’t contextualised with that overly-used four-letter word.
Because I am a loveless allo-aro, many stories contain allo-aro protagonists. Likewise, as a loveless allo-aro who generally considers myself non-partnering, many stories depict the experiences of non-partnering aromantics.
(“Non-partnering” and “loveless” are, of course, no more synonymous than “loveless” and “never experiences any shape of attraction”. I’ve just been writing the stories I want to read!)
Please check the content info section for more information about advisories, references and language use.
I have more themed fiction collection posts, including:
Aromantic-focused
Allo-aro protagonists
Autistic aromantic protagonists
Transgender and non-binary aromantic protagonists

Coining post!
So before I say the new terms I coined, I want to bring attention to a previously coined term, loveless apl.
Tumblr media
[Image description: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. Towards the center, the stripes are dark blue-gray, medium blue-gray, light blue-gray, grass green, and cream.]
Look at it. It’s amazing. It’s beautiful. It’s so awesome. But just like not all aros are represented by the term loveless aro, this term doesn’t represent all apls. Which brings me to the new terms I coined.
Loving Apl/Apllovic
Tumblr media
[Image description: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. Towards the center, the stripes are pinkish-purple, purple, lavender, grass green, and cream.] This term represents aplatonics who identify as experiencing love and find love to be important to their identity. I based this flag off the loving aro/arolovic flag, but I hue-shifted the pinks towards blue because the grays in the loveless apl flag are hue-shifted blue from the grays in the loveless aro flag. The shift in color also represents how aplatonics view love differently than alloplatonics, and our love may or may not include other’s love.
Paradox Apl/Apllovedox
Tumblr media
[Image description: A flag with nine horizontal stripes. The stripes are pinkish-purple, purple, lavender, grass green, cream, light blue-gray, medium blue-gray, and dark blue-gray.]
This term represents those who identify as both a loveless apl and a loving apl. This can include experiencing love but feeling disconnected from it, having fluctuating feelings about love, only experiencing certain kinds of love, or not fully understanding love. To create the flag I just merged the loveless apl and loving apl flags.

[Image ID: Two nine stripe flags, the first with the symbol of a hazard triangle with a figure falling off a ledge, the second blank. The colors go form a gradient from slightly dark green to black, then reverse colors. /End ID]
Name: Falling (in) loveless
A flag for falling loveless beings: loveless beings who are connected to falling, beings who are loveless in a falling way, etc. A play on the saying "falling in love".
Colors from the loveless aro flag + black from the concept of a pit/void, but not necessarily aro, it looks like the flag by accident. Hazard sign is Drop/Fall Hazard (IS5079-).

A @coinfight revenge on @noxwithoutstars for 13 points (5 + 6th revenge + 2 nongender term).

✧。:*▹ Loveless Amor Aro
PT/ Loveless Amor Aro /PT end

✧ Loveless Amor Aro is a term for being a loveless aro who experiences attraction that is entirely removed from the notion of love.
✧ Requested by anon // @mogai-sunflowers
✧ let me nerd out about the name now lol. Amor refers to Venus' son and the god of desire etc. Roman poets (and Cato minor) talked about Amor and Eros as different personifications, the former being associated with more affectionate feelings and the latter with desire and lust (and even greed).

Lovequeer + Loveless Combo Flag.
plain text: Lovequeer + Loveless Combo Flag.
— A combination flag of the loveless aro flag and this lovequeer flag. We haven't seen any combination flags of the two yet and want to try our hands at one so here you go.
— The colors here are more muted to match the gray tones in the loveless flag, while still remaining colored in the lovequeer flag we used. The greens in the middle are inspired off of the loveless flag as well.

Today we’re highlighting the Loveless identity - this is less of an orientation label and more of general identity signifier, like voidpunk or sex favorable. “Loveless” is an insult or value judgement sometimes aimed at aromantics, and some people have reclaimed it.
[ID: “Loveless. Someone who does not feel love, doesn't understand or feels disconnected from love as a concept or descriptor, or rejects love or the social construct of it. This identity originated in the aromantic community. Some loveless people feel hatred towards the social construct of love or are repulsed by the idea of love, while others simply feel disconnected from it personally.” Pictured is the Loveless Aro flag, which is nine stripes of varying shades of gray and green. End ID.]

The second flag has matching numbers of stripes, but in yellow, orange, dark grey, pink, gold, pink, dark grey, orange, and yellow.

Aro Arrow Cross Stitch Patterns - Part One
A couple of years ago, I posted a tutorial for making pride-themed arrow cross-stitch patches. Unfortunately, the template I used back then made it difficult for me to post patterns covering flag style and stripe variants. This isn't the case with my current template, so for Aro Week I thought I'd update my arrow patterns to cover a greater selection of aromantic flags ... starting with designs for flags with three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten horizontal stripes! Plus modifications for depicting two or three different flags on the same arrow!
Image descriptions beneath keep reading:
[Photo one: four cross stitch patches sitting on a blue microfibre blanket. Two of them are arrows stitched on a single-colour rectangular background, edged with buttonhole stitch; two of them are arrows with the buttonhole edging shaped around the arrow itself. All arrows have a tan and light tan shaft, grey arrowhead and fletching in the colours of various horizontal-striped pride flags. From top to bottom: rectangle allo-aro arrow on light green background with green edging, shaped allo-aro arrow with white edging, loveless aromantic arrow on dark green background with yellow/green multicoloured edging, and shaped quoiromantic arrow with mint edging.
Pattern one: A cross stitch pattern for an arrow design with an elongated triangle arrowhead in grey, a tan shaft, idemromantic pride flag fletching, idemromantic binding where shaft meets arrowhead, and a pale green background. Outline stitching in a dark grey frames the arrowhead, with lighter grey lines of back stitching running down the head; the tan shaft is framed in a darker tan; and green stitches outline the fletching and binding.
Pattern two: A cross stitch pattern for an arrow design with an elongated triangle arrowhead in grey, a tan shaft, loveless aromantic pride flag fletching, and a dark pine green background. Outline stitching in a dark grey frames the arrowhead, with lighter grey lines of back stitching running down the head; the tan shaft is framed in a darker tan; and green stitches outline the fletching and binding.]
