random post, but shoutout to 12 y/o me who got MW3 from her aunt one day and played it, expecting just to shoot stuff and not get into it… she didn’t know she had daddy issues even after clinging to every commanding officer in the game (sandman and pudovkin <3), and i didn’t know until years later that i clung to this stupid ass trio.

my boys. my idiots. my loyalist commanders. my war criminals. 2/3 are dead. 2/3 were ugly. yuri had no less than four missiles shot at his feet. nikolai’s face changed every single game. kamarov lived for drama and nothing else.

i loved them for no reason other than “teehee older man that i can substitute for my lack of father/older male figure.” yuri was silent 80% of the game. nikolai was perfect. kamarov appeared just to die. i didn’t even play MW2 or watch gameplay of MW1 until 2022, but i clung to this trio nonetheless 😭 soap, price, and team metal, as well (sandman my first love), but these three… special place in my heart.

listen. listen. this doesn’t matter to anyone but me. i know i chose the worst group to attach my daddy issues to. in my defense, i was 12 and didn’t even know i had ‘em. honestly, “daddy issues” makes it sound too cute, i was a kid when i started getting comfort from these guys… call it father problems or paternal predicaments 😭

i’m just. look. i know how i look to an outside audience. i know how my blog looks to someone who doesn’t know me well; but, i’m not just fawning over every russian character. these three specifically, *tapping glass that they’re encased in*, are special to me. if i attach to them and pretend like they’d love me (romantically or platonically), then i can feel the love that i’ve never gotten from a father or an older male figure.

this is just a nonsense ramble because i’m so sleep-deprived, but you don’t understand. my boys are back and better than ever. nikolai eats everyone up whenever he comes on-screen. yuri actually gets to have a full name and cutscenes outside of “dust to dust”. kamarov isn’t ugly (gene farber 🙏) and they’re all just AKEHDKRJWJDKFJE.

i love them. i love the comfort they give me. i know it’s odd for me to cling to this trio of all people, but i have. my boys. my dumbasses. the reboot did them right. now, i just need them all on-screen at the same time.

i want them to have a podcast. i’d listen to it.

I finished the design for werewolf!nikto, he looks small in the drawing but I imagine him to be 2x larger than the extinct dire wolf, so about 260ibs and standing at a terrifying 6'8 on his hind legs, He is LARGE, I'm just a bad artist. I thought up some hcs while drawing this:

TWs: hcs about torture/scars/injuries, transformation, translated german, Mentions of killing people brutally, and I think thats all enjoy!

- Will not kill Krueger, but he does deliver a nasty bite/nip to the austrian when he ticks him off (like when he refuses to give head pats, the fucking audacity...>:|)

- became a werewolf PRE-Nikto. Got attacked on a mission a few months before his capture by Victor Zakhaev. Its why they kept him alive as long as they did. once they found out about his... Condition. They sought to brainwash and use Nikto as a living weapon... You can tell how well that went...

- he was tortured in both his wolf and human form, usually collared and chained up. The damage to either form carries over. I think he gained his facial injuries in his human form, as well as the damage to his lips, removed fingernails, and torso, while his legs were injured in his wolf form, shaved, beaten, and set on fire. The scars still appear on his hands and legs in human form, the skin rough and textured. His tail was also cut off in this form, leaving him with a little nub :(

- the extra blood and cuts on his legs in the image are from whatever trouble I imagine he got into just before, probably from eating an entire small town, I think he gets injured a lot in this form. he’s usually completely feral, banging into anything and fighting everything in his path.

- he found protection under the alligence, where his status as a werewolf was kept hush hush, only Nikolai & Kamarov were supposed to know, but the guys in spetsnaz, and Krueger found out about it as well.

- nobody suspected anything for a long time, and Nikto had a schedule he'd follow to keep himself and everyne safe, but...nikto slipped up a few times, one of these times, he chased poor Nikodim through the halls in the dead of night, his girlish scream filling the halls, before getting chased all the way back by maxim with a rifle.

- he was basically forced to confessed after that night, with surprisingly calm reactions from his peers, they were a team after all, they needed Nikto. Rodion very calmly asked that Nikto never fucking chase him like that ever again, a rare moment of seriousness from the smaller man, who still had tears in his eyes and a pouty face from the traumatic event, that made Nikto nod with embarrassment. He was just hungry… can you really be that mad? (Yes)

- Krueger was also a slip up, but one that went entirely different. Nikto was having a few drinks, sharing stories with the insane man, when he felt a tingling, a prickling, all over his body. His body hair stood up, and started to thicken and spread under his clothes. He’d lost track of time. he looks out the window, realizing the moon was high in the air, it’s curse reaching out to claim him. His fists clenched and he shot up from his seat trembling, taking Krueger aback.

-Krueger tries to help the best he can, trying to put a hand on the other’s shoulder, to ask if he’s ok. But Nikto pulls away the second he makes contact, an unusual snarl emitting from his throat, telling Krueger to step back.

- he begged for Krueger to leave, to run. They were fucked in in the head, and loved to be rough with one another, and push each others limits, but Nikto always had control in those times. Here, he could not guarantee his control, his teeth sharping, with more pushing out of his gums, the feeling excruciatingly painful. His words turn into ragged growls and barking. His bones snapping and twisting as he takes on his alternate form. Krueger is stood in horror and twisted fascination. He was never a cowardly man, he would not run from his friend, no matter the form. Surely he could deal with this like any of Nikto’s other issues..

- but before long Nikto is snapping at him with jagged fangs and taking swings with his clawed paws, but Krueger is quick, dodging, while attempting to talk sense into his friend, Nikto, it’s me! Snap out of it!

- there’s a chase, and just as Krueger finds himself in a pinch, with Nikto just about ready to rip his face off, he reaches out a timid hand. His voice laced with hesitance as he decides his next words carefully. He chuckles nervously,

- “ohoho..be a good dog, ja? Clawing my eyes out would not be very good-“ Nikto suddenly lunges and he flinches, a hand moves to the top of the wolf’s head, pushing back against its forehead, stopping him from getting any closer.

-he can feel the monster tense under his touch, and a shivering, as if this monster is just as unsure as him now too. He peeks an eye open to see his hand buried in the fur on top of Nikto’s head. The monster looking at him with familiar blue eyes, there’s something… emotional in those eyes.. a realization? Perhaps his touch brought back a memory, a reminder of their bond?

“Nikto? Are you still in there?” He asks and the ears of the creature perk up at the sound of its own name, of course his friend is still there, he watched him transform into it, but.. after everything he wasn’t sure if this was just some sick game the creature was playing with his food before biting out his throat.

- the werewolf tilts his head in understanding, a whine eliciting from his maw. And Krueger let’s a small grin fall naturally back onto his face. That’s his (boy)friend right there. Just... different.

- Krueger's hand started to stroke the mangled fur, and was met with a suprsingly positive reaction, Nikto nuzzling into his hand. Letting out a relieved huff as dogs do.

- Krueger's always been a dog person, so loving Nikto as one came just as easy as loving him when he was human. That and he realized himself how useful nikto could be- except he wasn't forcing Nikto this time. He would utitlize his powers with Nikto willingly by his side, absolutely shredding enemies up in the dead of night.

-sicking Nikto on an enemy base and watching Nikto absorb bullets and bite enemies whole heads off >:3

- the rest periods after these are long and difficult, normal nikto is not as strong, the adrenaline no longer puming through him meaning the pain he indured but couldn't feel in that state was just hitting him now. Nikto definitely perfers doing missions in his human form instead.

- krueger giving him the biggest belly rubs known to man, "you're just a big puppy dog aren't you? Oh mein guter Junge.." he cooes

- Nikto won't talk about it in human form, he will punch krueger's shoulder if he teasingly asks if he can pet human Nikto's belly throughout the day, or wave a treat in his face. Its not funny. (Its just a little funny)

- overall he's a good boy, 10/10 would let him maul me and i'd still give him a treat :)

I need to complete these reports, it’s already afternoon? Need more free time for training… More training remember that you are weak, useless, the pen is out of fucking ink. Need a new one. More time for PT, it’s never enough. It will be a pain to run in this heat. Especially with the equipment. Tired, useless, Price? Any news about Price? Price, Price is dead. Maybe not? Is he? Kiss him, hold him, he was warm. We used to sneak out during smoke breaks. I always forget the lighter. Just so I can light mine from his. Why is it so hot in here?! More PT, God you are fucking useless be better! Price, where are you? What would you think of me? I think I did good with Roach and Ghost. Did Roach file that draft? I could use a smoke… Where can I find a damn pen? Price! Price is dead maybe not maybe yes shut up 

“Captain?”

“What?!” Soap snaps without really realising. He is sitting at his usual desk going through reports about their last deployment. The room is drowned in the soft light of the afternoon. Roach remains behind the door’s frame, not daring to move an inch. He doesn’t look scared though.

“Jesus, I am sorry…” He rubs his face with his palm, trying to regain his composure. “Didn’t really get enough sleep last night…”

“Do you ever, Captain?” Roach finally approaches the desk with a smirk. He is well attuned by now to his Captain’s outbursts. He holds out a folder. “More reports related to the Petropavlovsk gulag.” Soap opens it and scans the papers.

Petropasvlosk… no, petropavlosk… petro something. High value prisoners. Price? No, Price is dead. Printer must be broken, there are ink stains here. Makarov is eyeing a prisoner. We could be there first. An assault on Russian soil? Almost like the time we saved Nikolai. We shutted down the power. How’s Kamarov doing? Been a while. He outlived Gaz and Price. Price is alive though. Maybe. Shut up. Elevation 100 metres. Fuck it’s cold there.

“Maybe we will find him there…”

“Hmm?” Soap lifts his head from the files. He knows what Roach means. He asks nevertheless. “Who’s there?”

“Price.”

Soap folds the paper folder and throws it on the desk and resumes his previous task. Finding a working pen.

“That would be all, Roach. Dismissed.”

“Did I say something wrong?” He just wishes to be there for him.

Soap is finally victorious in his search and lifts the new pen. “Out of my office, sergeant! Now!” He doesn’t look Roach in the eyes.

“Yes sir.” Roach takes his leave but stops on his way to the door. “We will find him, Captain. If you ever need to talk to someone, we are here. I am here.”

Soap doesn’t answer. When the door closes, the cigar smoke starts rising and a teardrop falls on the papers, spreading the ink around.

How did the gang react to krueger and Nikto hitting the high road in a sence ? Was there a sence of betrayal or loss with them leaving? Do they think the pair will come back?

Within the Spetsnaz I think Kamarov would feel... Not exactly betrayed but upset/disappointed. Minotaur would be worried that they are going to turn on them. And Bale mostly is just concerned, but ultimately not surprised. As I mentioned in Harpoons (it's one sentence BUT it was important to me), I believe Rodion felt it before they left, because he's an observant man, is close w Nikto and reads him really well. He's probably the one who took it the worst because he cares about Nikto and we imagined with @modernghostfare that, bad timing obliges, Krueger and him went AWOL after Nikto and Rodion had an argument so he thinks it's his fault for a while. But I like to headcanon that they keep in touch via Krueger, by texting occasionally. Rodion is also the only one who's almost sure they'll come back, because he knows Nikto (and eventually, they do, because Nikto was getting increasingly worse with the lack of structure and regular medication)

In Chimera I think it's somehow a mix of shock and "well, not surprising". They all know of Krueger's past, but it's the suddenness that takes everyone by surprise. Even Syd, whom I hc to be close friends with Krueger, is taken aback and was absolutely not expecting it. Yegor is the first who understands within the first 48 hours that the two are gone, because the Spetsnaz, whom he hangs out with regularly, mention that Nikto hasn't shown up in a while - which isn't unusual per se, but both him and Krueger disappearing makes sense. He's convinced they won't come back. Syd is sad about it but refuses to draw conclusions. Farah is wary, but feels like it's not definitive because she's observant and although she doesn't know Nikto, she knows he probably can't live on the run forever (as opposed to Krueger). Nikolai is a bit aloof about it all bc he's aloof about everything. Tho he'll say "oh give them a few months or a year... and they'll be back". And he's right.

This is a second part I have been working on for ages of Setting Us Up for Failure:

Price allowed himself several long moment’s to observe the man who near constantly plagued his mind. Nikolai looked much like the last time that Price had seen him: Tall, broad, a bit of scruff on his face. He had changed quite a bit since the first time that they’d met. He looked older now, more mature and somehow more handsome to Price. Just the sight of him had a warmth blossoming in his chest and an underlying excitement for when they would finish this mission and take a few days to pretend that their circumstances were different. 

He’d been dreaming of it for days already, unable to stop thinking about sharing a space with the other man. He wanted to feel Nik’s hand in his own, to have their usual moments of stolen touches that they always excused as being used to guide the other. He wanted to hear Nik’s voice in his ear, explaining whatever project he was working on as they both stood just a touch too close for what they pretended they were. 

He wanted…well, the truth was that Price wanted more. He wanted Nikolai in every way that the man would allow him, but he refused to let himself have that. He couldn’t. Work came first, he’d already established that and the two were too far in to change their minds now. Price couldn’t change. He couldn’t go back on his word. Not when he’d already denied himself and Nikolai so much because of it. 

Guilt clawed at his chest at the thought, gnawing at his heart with a pain that had become all too familiar to him. It always inevitably came back to bite at him when he thought too long about what he really wanted. He forced himself to tear his gaze away from Nikolai and focus on Kamarov. The man had already started a quick run down of the situation for the team and Price should have been paying attention the entire time. He needed to keep himself focused.

genuinely don’t know if this is makarov or yuri (hear me out) at this point but i am frantically examining his tattoos and searching for meaning nonetheless– i’m so fucking normal about this. totally not coming up with a trailer theory as we speak :)

I’M JUST SAYING IF IT IS YURI THAN I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS ☝️

i think it would be so cool. so fucking rad. if the trailer started with this shot – yuri, after the reboot’s “no russian” event, hiding out and planning his revenge. makarov’s introduction is actually a series of flashbacks from yuri’s perspective. we as the player know that makarov is intimidating, but we lack in-universe information on him currently; all we know is that he hijacked a russian airliner and that price knows about him. this trailer would be the perfect opportunity to hype him up, to tell the audience that he’s still a force to be reckoned with, and to introduce his counterpart that’s hellbent on taking him down.

i’m also curious if he’s still working with nikolai in this universe. nikolai is leading his own PMC (chimera), so i wonder if they’ll be our loyalists this time around. yuri could’ve easily linked up with nik and his group after the betrayal, and it would make for an easy connection between him and the 141. if shit hits the fan as badly as the original, then i could even see kamarov joining the group – we could get our trio of loyalist leaders again, i miss them so dearly :')

or it’s just a makarov redesign and i’m going to be crushed. that’s probably it 💀
