Nightbringer Predictions: Breaking Lucifer

So if I'm not mistaken, after this Belphie arc is done there's only one brother left to snap: Lucifer. I've been very curious about what's going to happen with him especially, so I'm looking forward to the coming lessons. It makes sense that they'd save him for last.

That said, I have a prediction for what might cause his spiral.

So far, each of the brothers' spirals had some kind of emotional trigger. For Mammon, it was coming to terms with how his greed hurts others, for Asmodeus it was coming to terms with being a demon, for Belphie it's grappling with MC's upcoming departure, etc.

I think for Lucifer, his breakdown is going to come in the form of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think he's going to snap because he realizes he's next.

Lucifer has watched every single one of his brothers spiral into their darkest depths, one by one. By now, everyone's come to the conclusion that it's going to happen to all of them, but I don't know if it's quite set in for Lucifer. He's the Avatar of Pride, after all- on some level, he views himself as above the others and above most situations that come his way. Satan made a very good point in S1 when he mentioned that Lucifer was very likely to consider himself immune to a banshee's warning- that's just how Lucifer is.

I think that's how he's going to turn out to be here, too. As the Avatar of Pride, I don't think he can truly comprehend his own vulnerability.

But after watching everyone but him snap, I think it might finally set in for Lucifer that this is actually happening and that it's going to happen to him. He'll realize that he's not above this, he's not above what's been happening around him. And as the Avatar of Pride, I don't think he can take that. I don't think he'll be able to bear the idea of breaking down and losing control, of having his deepest insecurities unearth themselves as he's unable to control himself. It would be his personal hell, the ultimate wound to his pride. And I think the anticipation of that fate will be what sends him over the edge, a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Just a Study

Content Warning: Spoilers for Lesson 40 of Nightbringer! Everything above the cut is spoiler-free!

The wise sorcerer watches his dear apprentice sleep peacefully, unaware of their close friend and mentor doing what he does best. Studying.

His eyes analyse the rise and fall of their chest, tracing his gaze over and across the parabolas that make up the shape of their sleeping form. The small chuckles that escape him when you snore and snort are sounds that you will never get to hear. The soft, unprecedented flushes of crimson across his cheeks when you nuzzle your forehead deeper into the crook of his neck is a sight you will never get to see. Yet your sounds, sights and touch… Solomon knows all of it. He knows the mean, median and mode of the number of hours you sleep at night; and he spends the midnight hours flipping through tomes dedicated to understanding love. To Solomon, this was all a study, really.

A study on how it would have been, if he had taken the time to know his fellow, human classmate from the get-go. How it would have been if he had taken you under his wing sooner - if he had won the race for your heart against the Seven Avatars of Sin. The data was there, in the form of the pact marks etched into your skin - placed there like perfect puzzle pieces. And no matter how much his brain wanted to process that data differently, the results and conclusion would remain unchanged.

To conduct a study, one must try to match the conditions of the experiment to the assumptions of the theory. Solomon knew this, and so he had strived to make Coctyus Hall your new House of Lamentation. He had lived with you - had eaten with you - had even slept beside you. He knew that you (more often that he liked) had shared a bed with each of the brothers before - so he had done that, too. He had taken your trip to the past as an opportunity to replicate the theory with ease, piecing together a domestic life with you that felt like bliss.

The perfect study.

It was meant to be the perfect study. For him and you.

So why?

Why did it hurt so bad, returning to the original timeline; and seeing how… easily, you fell back into your own life?

Why did it hurt, seeing you live, eat and sometimes even sleep alongside the brothers again?

Why did it hurt, sleeping beside you in your old room, when he had already shared a bed with you many times now? It hurt being with you, in this bed made for one, the pillows and blankets and your shifting form taking up room and pushing him out. Telling him that he didn’t belong next to you.

… The wise sorcerer watches his dear apprentice sleep; studying. He presses his lips gently to your temple and savours the familiar warmth that greets him, fondly. He selfishly, childishly, hooks an arm and a leg around you; entangling himself in you as you had done many times before with him. He easily finds your hand through touch alone under a blanket colder than the one you used to share; struggling to intertwine his fingers with yours properly. But he grips your hand like a lifeline when he manages to. He’s got the lines of your palm and the creases of the skin of your wrists memorised. With a small, shaky breath, Solomon uses his thumb to trace over them again, and again, and again. Studying.

It was just a study, right? A ‘what if’.

Just a study, with a simple title.

What if, for a while, he pretended you loved him?

A study compares the theoretical with the experimental. Compares the ideal with harsh, painful, hurtful reality.

You belonged with the brothers. They were your ideal.

… And his brief, domestic, blissful experiment with you was now over.

(i had started writing this before seeing that angest was ruling the poll, lol. but yayyyyyy i wanna start writing angst and romance with the characters i haven’t touched on yet, so have an angst solomon, set after lesson 40 of nightbringer)

Future Seasons Predictions

*Spoilers*

1. I don’t think Barbatos has been banned from using him powers by Diavolo yet. I think we will all see why he can no longer use them freely because of the events in Nightbringer

2. The devs hinted that Raphael, Mephistopheles, and Thirteen will eventually be dateable

3. The ending of season one hard mode implied Michael may want to attend RAD in the future so we may finally get a character reveal for him. If this does happen he may be included as a dateable as the same time as the others just to make things easier

4. We’ll be getting more plot revolving the founding of RAD

5. I imagine we’ll see a lot more fun nods to the OG game and see how other things turned out the way they did

6. Asmodeus is already popular but I believe we’ll see him fame skyrocket soon

7. The real Raphael will probably make an appearance soon to check things out for himself

8. There will be a lot of tense “family” drama between the brothers and their former angelic brothers

9. Hopefully some more comedic scenes between Mephistopheles and Thirteen

10. I believe at some point MC’s identity will be revealed and in order to connect the timelines everyone will probably have their memories erased until MC returns to the present timeline and then they will all remember just how big a part MC played in their lives and with the Devildom

The fact that his birthday is so shortly after Dia's paired with the fact that he was literally groomed to believe his only life purpose is to be beneficial to Diavolo + keeps reminding everyone of it is......not great tho

I know Nightbringer S1 isn’t over yet but I’m gonna go ahead and write out my prediction for the next season

Spoilers for Nightbringer below!

S1 of ObeyMe! Nightbringer ends on a Past!Solomon cliffhanger.

S2 of Nightbringer will have MC make pacts with a couple of the brothers

Past!Solomon shows up and creates chaos.

If S1 is the human reveal, S2 will be the time travel reveal.

This will also be the season where the side characters, specifically Mephistopheles, get introduced into the story.

Everyone will obviously be upset that MC and Solomon have lied but less so from the human reveal as Barbatos and Diavolo explain the dangers of time travel.

Present!Solomon will go away (probably to talk to Nightbringer) and that’s when Past!Solomon comes, he’ll kinda just go along with it at first but eventually break from the script

We’ll find out about why Barbatos hates Solomon, it’ll be something actually important and not silly like rats or bad cooking.

There will be more political drama with the other lords who oppose Diavolo

Mephistopheles and Diavolo will have their fallout and we can comfort them both.

MC will tell everyone about Nightbringer and they’ll know something we don’t.

Ok but it's safe to say that MC in Nightbringer was low-key giving Barbatos. They know what happened in the past, they know what happens in the future and they know things about the brothers that even they themselves don't.

Like imagine Lucifer talking to MC like:

Lucifer: "MC, do you have any good music recommendations?"

MC: "Oh, sure do!" Proceeds to recommend him a random symphony Lucifer rambled on about in OM that was supposedly written around the time of NB

Lucifer: having never heard of that one "You have my gratitude, MC. I'll make sure to check it out."

Or MC randomly slipping and saying something regarding TSL to Levi in NB:

MC: "Oh yeah! That character kinda reminds me of the Lord of Lechery."

Levi: "Of.. who?"

MC: "Uhm... The Lord of Lechery... The fifth lord from TSL.."

Levi: "TSL? What's that?"

Or even when Satan sees a cat on the street and asks MC about it:

Satan: Pointing at the cat "What's that?"

MC: "Uhm it's a cat, S-Satan." (Stuttering because they have to explain to the literal god of cats obsession what a cat is)

And just imagine MC giving Simeon the idea to write TSL in the first place:

MC: "Oh, you know you could write some interesting tales of the brothers but change their names up a bit."

Simeon: "You know, MC... That's actually not a bad idea!"

MC: "Yeah! You can call it "Tales of the seven lords" or "TSL" for short.

Like MC becomes the ultimate genie. The AU seer. The LEGEND.

And with some help from Solomon for past events MC hasn't attended they become an unbeatable god. Barbatos can literally suck it up

They be predicting everyone's lives like a second Barbatos was born.

And Barbatos himself would just stand there dumbfounded.

Just imagine the look, the SHOCK on Diavolo's face if MC even mentions the exchange program. His mind would be BLOWN AWAY.

Or they be talking to Simeon and be like:

MC: "Oh, you'll become a demon one day, you know?"

Simeon: "WHAT??"

Everybody: "WHAT?!?!?"

MC in Nightbringer literally owns the trend "She knows.. and I know she knows"

...MC in Nightbringer, you have my respect..

nightbringer lesson 60 prediction: mc gets hit by a bus and reincarnates as lilith in an alternate timeline version of the celestial realm

So if Mammon is such a bad cook and you're tired of eating his terrible cooking then obviously I should share cooking duty with him so that I can keep an eye on him and improve his food right? Right?

I have played all of the main story from start to finish. I read og the hard way. I kept up with Nightbringer. I still have to play catch up with og's chats unfortunately but otherwise I've just about caught up on everything.

Og was ridiculously mean to Mammon. It was terribly inconsistent about it too. First season seemed to want to convince you that Mammon really was the scumbag his brothers said he was. Second respun him into secretly nice guy. Third had him almost a perfect boyfriend. Then fourth turned his negative traits up to 11 and tested my patience repeatedly.

Chats in og seem to be like that too? Right now I'm deep in season 4 chats and it's stupidly predictable where these chats go. If anything good or nice happens to Mammon it's ruined in the next few chats. One nice chat followed by three or more mean ones. And you wonder why Mammon stans get so defensive about his treatment.

Nightbringer was a mess narratively speaking. But I did appreciate getting a break on the way Mammon was treated. Less constant verbal beatdowns. More just sibling antics. It was nice for what it was.

Seriously though. The devs really shouldn't be surprised that Mammon gets more fans with the way they wrote him. Westerners love an underdog and anyone with a mothering instinct would flock to him. Even players who's favorite characters weren't Mammon had a habit of favoring him. It's like they wrote him to be the star of the show then overlooked him. So weird. Doomed second male lead. It could have been the Mammon show!

Mammon will always be first in my book. I will not be getting over him any time soon.

I want to ask... pleasee... when do you think obm charas fell for mc? And how they realize about that kind of feeling. And i actually curious about seraph other than michael and raphael (relationship with lucy) thankyouuuuuu ✌(‘ω’)✌

When Did They Fall in Love?

Mammon fell almost right away. He already was leaving a toothbrush in MC’s room by chapter 4 so I’d say a little before then probably in chapter 3

Leviathan was very flustered around MC after agreeing to a pact and becoming closer friends. I believe this is around the time he started really falling for MC and seeing them as more than a friend. This is in chapter 4

I believe Beelzebub fell for MC after they saved his life. They were already becoming friends but after that Beel was pretty devoted to MC. This happens in chapter 6

Asmodeus became enamored with MC after experiencing their power. This is when he started looking at MC as more than just a human and housemate. The more he learned about MC the more devoted he became. This starts in chapter 8

I believe Satan fell for MC around the time they formed a pact. He had great respect for them and was a bit flustered about the situation. This happens in chapter 12

I believe Lucifer’s interest begins in chapter 12 but dissolves upon MC’s betrayal. However when the dust settles his feelings have returned by chapter 17

Belphegor immediately took an interest in MC in chapter 16 upon learning their heritage. However I believed he felt romantic interest in chapter 17 onwards when MC helped him repair his bond with his brothers and he saw how kind they were.

Solomon is hard to say. He doesn’t get a lot of time in season one and in season two he is mostly trying to figure them out. However in season two he is willing to kill Lucifer and destabilize the Devildom over letting MC die. To I’d say within season 2

Simeon also became more attached to MC in season 2 and was confessing and blushing by season 3. But I predict it was towards the end of season 2

Diavolo fell for MC probably towards the end of season 1. But during the chaos of season 2 and not knowing if MC would live or die he held his tongue. He tried confessing later in season 2 but was interrupted.

Barbatos was pretty confused about everyone’s attachment to MC. In season 3 MC kisses him and he is surprised to feel a warmth from it. But he officially falls for MC at the end of season 4. Barbatos takes a while because he’s been all throughout time and is very strict in his duties, so love didn’t cross his mind until he felt it for MC.

Thirteen is pretty attached to MC in Nightbringer almost immediately. But she begins calling herself an MC Stan before the end of NB season 1 and ropes Mephistopheles into it.

Mephistopheles hasn’t shown much romantic interest in MC in Nightbringer yet but as teased by Thirteen he believes MC looks good but just never says what he means. I believe he develops interest in season 2 but I don’t believe he’s fallen just yet.

Raphael has almost no time in Nightbringer and hasn’t had a chance to bond with MC. In the OG game he did get pretty close to MC as they helped him accept the reality Lucifer and his brothers wouldn’t return to the Celestial Realm. He’s also the first of the new three to get closer to them in OG. But I don’t believe he’s fallen for them yet, though interest is there.

Michael hasn’t fallen for MC but we know he cares about them and has been protecting them though he claims it’s for the brothers’ sake. He feels MC is trustworthy enough to rant to about his issues so he must care at least a little.

Other Seraphs and Lucifer

I believe it was in a daily chat, but Simeon has texted Lucifer that the other angels have been asking about him, especially Uriel. So we know that some of them still care about him or are at the very least curious—Not just the seraphim but all of the angels.

Do you have any theories how NB is going to end? I got a feeling that solmare wont do the simeon storyline in the OG

Season 2 better ends with MC returning to their own time, otherwise there will be Problemsᵀᴹ (I will be upset and probably also complain to some friends but otherwise won't do anything)

Before the game came out I was hoping that season 1 of NB would be about MC navigating the lie of being a demon, with the others finding out the truth in the season finale & that resulting in a huge conflict, and then season 2 would focus on figuring out Nightbringer's identity and finding a way home, but that's obviously not what we're getting

But honestly, no clue. I find it kind of hard to make proper predictions since we neither know who Nightbringer is nor what his motives are. The game is literally named after him, yet we hardly know anything about the guy + he kind of just vanished during the second half of the season

The one thing I am hoping for is that we actually get to return to our time instead of a future changed version of the NB timeline. I don't want to abandon the boys in yet another timeline cough og 16-A & 16-C cough

Plus if we stay in the NB timeline and it turns out that MC was catalyst of everyone turning into the demons we got to know in the og game, then that would just? Negate so much of everyone's character?? Like, Satan learning to control his wrath all by himself despite everything seemingly set up against him is really admirable, and learning that--nope, it was actually MC that helped him get tp where he is now!!--would be so disappointing. Like it would literally take away so much of his character and I don't want that

The only "resolution" I could think of other than sending MC back via the pacts is if it turns out that everything was just some kind of dream. They keep bringing up that characters have feelings about i.e. MC's room or the 'Purgatory Hall friendship' even though they should have no connection to that stuff yet, + it wouldn't be the first time MC traveled to the past in a dream. It would be kind of a lame conclusion though, so let's just hope that's not it
