Happy belated birthday, Mingjue!

This year i wanted to draw the birthday boy on his special day over the years, surrounded by the people he loves, but I also wanted a little angst, because he barely got to celebrate thirty of those...

But I'm weak, so they get the happy ending too:

They might not know exactly what age Mingjue should be turning after he comes back, but it's alright as long as they're together.

Damn. I think in total I spent like. 80 hours on this piece. I saw Gustav Klimt’s piece ‘Medecine’ (1900-07) and loved it. Which of course means I had to map it to MDZS. 80 hours and a sore elbow later, and it’s done, the biggest piece I’ve ever worked on. I hope you like it.

My thought is that if there's an underground market for Nie Mingjue's fanarts in MDZS (which, ofc there is, the man is 7th on the best-looking young masters list, as well as being a talented, bachelor clan leader), Nie Huaisang is definitely contributing to the supply on the market if not completely monopolize it.

See, having a share in this market is his way of keeping control of what's actually ON the market, not to mention making a little side money.

You want a drawing of NMJ being all serious and scary in official clan leader garb? You got it. NMJ accidentally broke a chair as he sat down angrily and fell on his ass? Absolutely have to be publicized, that's what you get for breaking my chair da-ge. NMJ being shirtless on the training ground? Sure, that will get probably da-ge some suitors. NMJ training with his saber? Yeah let's put some good action posters out there. NO not that saber you creep, any merchant who circulate illicit explicit content better WATCH IT!

Like, he has his principles you know, that's still his beloved da-ge, making sure no actual nude is circulating, just making some pocket money by supplying the fans with some cool behind-the-angry-face silly fanarts. Peak younger sibling behavior.

MDZS Nie Brothers HC that Nie Huaisang doesn’t really like kids. He’s never wanted kids for himself and so he certainly doesn’t like dealing with other people’s kids. People certainly don’t know that about him because he won’t openly tell anyone to keep kids away from him, but in his head he feels himself getting annoyed whenever kids are around him.

Nie Mingjue, on the other hand? He loves kids. It’s a crazy juxtaposition between the brothers since one would think that Nie Huaisang would like kids more than his grumpy brother, but no it’s the other way around. If Nie Mingjue weren’t so dedicated to his responsibilities he would have liked to spend more time looking for someone to settle down with and have a couple of kids.
