Film Review #1: Suzume (2022)
Preface: Doing something new for fun- just posting my thoughts on films I've watched. Nothing too academic, purely for myself and to share my thoughts about them.
Warning: will probably spoil things. Soz.
Film: Suzume (Shinkai, 2022)

Watched Suzume a few weeks back on Netflix. I really enjoyed it, and loved the artsyle and the story. I watched the English dub, and the voice actors were amazing (although Joe Zieja caught me off guard- may or may not have yelled at the TV "is that f*cking Wriothesley?"). I loved the soundtrak, an the main musical motif just entranced me.
If I could make any changes to the story, I would age down the male lead. Personally just found the ~10 year age gap between the titular female protagonist and him weird and off-putting, and actually lowered my engagement. Since a part of the plot is the fact she is aminor and is on the run, and her aunt coming to look for her, it would be more logical to maintain that aspect as the aunt's charactersation personally resonated with me, it makes more sense to change the male lead's age as it would have minimal impact on the story (in my opinion).
Overall, really really enjoyed it, but would've personally just tweaked the male lead's age so it wasn't such a huge age gap (a man in his late 20's and a 17 year old high school student? Not an age gap I'm okay with as she is a minor in the film).

Glass onion script team really said "we've hidden the meaning of the film under several layers of plot, but yes. the message is just as obvious as the title indicates. all you really need to see is that powerful billionnaires don't deserve shit and CAN be taken down by force" and it's very direct action of them
