so you wanna make plastic garbage into earrings, huh?

heres what youre gonna do. look though your recycling bin for LDPE or HDPE plastic (#2 or #4) and only those two types, ya got it? that's bottle caps, laundry detergent bottles, etc.

get a blender. blend. you can either do same color or multicolor, that's up to you. pick your colors, throw them in a blender you DO NOT eat out of, and blend.

now youre gonna wanna melt it. get yourself a panini press or an iron if you're feeling brave, and two pieces of parchment paper. lay the first one down, then lay our your plastic bits, and then the second paper. its not rocket science. start at low heat and WATCH.

when its flat, take it off and let it cool. be careful, its gonna be hot, so dumb be stupid about this. wait for it to cool down a bit, you can press it between some books if you're feeling fancy. get your metal cookie cutters and get to work. they wont punch through, so wait for it to cool all the way and get yourself an exact knife to finish the job.

now you're gonna smooth them out. if you're using an exacto knife, you'll wanna wear a glove or some thumb protection so you don't cut yourself. you could also use sandpaper, might take longer though, or a dremel. if you don't have a dremel, don't panic, it would just be the fastest and smoothest thing, that's all.

finally, youre gonna want take what you made and fashion them into earrings. you can make them into other things too, maybe a wall hanging or a sign, but our example is earrings, alright? now, get a drill bit that's the size you need for your jump ring, likely 2 or 3 mm. get a pair of needle nose or jewelry pliers, feed one ring through the hole and then a second one to connect the earring hook. if you wanna add more charms, top or bottom, drill more holes and repeat.

AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be

he’d gripe and groan about how long it takes you to get ready, leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom looking down at his watch ever so often as you sat on the counter finishing your makeup.

“the tornado won’t care if your eyeshadow or whatever looks perfect. can we go yet?”

he’d chew his gum and impatiently cross his arms while he waited on you in the dressing room, nodding along as you talked about the fabric and fit of whatever you were trying on next, taking mental note to just give you his card and get the little fashion show at home next time.

“just buy them both, yeah? if we don’t leave soon they’ll lock us in here.” he’s a sassy man! of course if you called him that to his face he’d give you a mean look and make you call him sir before doing anything else. like that wouldn’t prove your point.

he treated you like a princess most of the time, and now it was his turn.

“come on, scotty just try it!” you pouted, holding out the face mask package matching the one currently on your face.

“fine, but this is a one time thing, alright? don’t try to make this a habit ‘cause its not gonna happen.” he rolled his eyes and leaned back against the bathroom counter, letting you get closer without leaning down so you could actually reach him, forcing you to stand on your tip-toes as you put it on him.

you knew the fluffy headband was a stretch but his hair getting in the way and irritating him made it easier to pull off, leaving you with an unamused pretty princess of a boyfriend, mostly interested in keeping you tame while making up for all the time he had to spend away from you.
