the concept of orochimaru and sakumo having been a thing is so funny to me, especially from kakashi's perspective. imagine your government-assigned babysitting charge runs away to go live with an evil scientist war criminal. who is also your stepmom. you speak of this to no one
#naruto#naruto shippuden#hatake sakumo#hatake kakashi#orochimaru#sakuoro#orosaku#within three years you're the president and both you and your stepmom have died and come back#and also your stepmom resurrected the first four presidents. also like 80% of the world's known corpse population has been resurrected. but#sakura: lord hokage are we planning on doing something about orochimaru#kakashi: ok so. hm. i may have a slight conflict of interest here#sakura: well yeah i mean sasuke-kun-#kakashi: orochimaru is legally my mom#sakura: excuse me.#kakashi: you're excuse. also i'm putting sasuke in jail for hurting my feelings#naruto: sensei that's an abuse of power#kakashi: hurry up and become hokage then i don't even want to be here

MODERN NARUTO HCS!!
I dont wanna make too many, so heres a few!! None of these personalities are canon, these are all just made up. If you dont like when people put totally different personalities on characters, I recommend you dont read this! 🫶
-Sasukes family is full of police, and they run a police station
-The Uchiha family is also some kind of mafia shit
-Yes they abuse their police power
-The Hyuugas are also mafia, and are rivals to the Uchihas!
-Sasuke and Neji were forced ‘rivals’, because they were the same age
-Sasuke almost killed Neji
-Later became friends, now repeatedly visits Neji in the hospital because he got in a coma
-Naruto is Sasukes real rival, but only in academics, girls and strenght (from Naruto’s pov)
-Sasuke sees Naruto as a rival, somehow
-Minato and Kushina are alive, very chaotic but happy couple
-Minato is the mayor, and Kushina is a judge
-This is how Sasuke sees a rival in Naruto, because Naruto is on the ‘good’ side and hes on ‘bad’ side
-They were rlly good friends in childhood tho
-They made out as practise hehe
-Knew they weren’t attracted to men after that
-Naruto wasn’t exactly hated when growing up, but he accidentally murdered someone in his teens so lots of people hated him after that
-Wasn’t actually the murderer
-He got away with it anyway because of his parents :)
-Seen as ‘weird kid’ in school
-Trained his body from a very young age, and does martial arts!!
-Really powerful
-He had a crush on Sakura until he found out from his parents that she was included in some sketchy shit
-Sakura is very smart
-Like very
-She knows the Uchiha are mafia, because of a certain happening
-Popular in school
-Became really strong after she started dating Sasuke, because Sasuke trained her really well so she’d be able to protect herself!
-Hinata is a shy cutie, but when you get to know her shes kind manipulative with her shyness, and clingyness
-Didn’t know she was manipulative though, because she just picked up behaviours from her mom
-The hyuugas are not a happy family/household
-Didn’t wanna be involved with mafia, since it included being more ‘close’ to her family
-She only likes Neji and Hanabi in her family
-Became stronger so she could protect Hanabi
-Dislikes Sasuke for what he did to Neji.
-Ino is a whore
-That sounded bad mb
-She doesn’t like it, but her family is poor so she sells herself
-Is trying to use Sakura for money
-Thats why theyre friends
-Shikamaru is smart, but ignorant
-He ignores everything that goes on around him, because its too ‘bothersome’
-Choji follows what Shikamaru does, not hesitant. Theyre best friends, right? Shikamaru wouldn’t do anything to hurt him, right?
-Kiba has a fake personality, and is only himself around his dog
-He doesn’t wanna be involved in anything, but ends up being involved anyway
-Nobody notices Shino. He does that want to be noticed, anyway. Or?
-TenTen clings on to Sakura and Ino like a leech, she just wants friends.
-Lee is super sporty! Too bad he got a really bad injury that made him unable to do what he loves.. Hope this doesn’t make him *too* depressed!
-Does Gaara spare his siblings? We dont know. Will Naruto be able to save Gaara in this timeline? We dont know.
-‘Sensei’s like Kakashi are teachers or workers in shops
-Itachi does his best to keep Sasuke out of the spotlight. He likes when the attention is on him.

If you insist…
Why is nart so shitty with it's female characters?
Because 9/10 they don't do anything.
Not only do we have such a weird gap between the female characters and the male ones, were even the teams have two - three and the girls are nearly always stuck at one, to the point that the senseis have literally one woman who got benched before actually doing anything, but those female characters don't get nearly the amount of time or energy to their stories.
Sakura has the best given that she's on the main team, but compared to Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi? Even Yamato? She is given the brunt end of the stick constantly, with her achievements either ignored overshadowed, her story so often revolving around loving Sasuke or pushing up Naruto, and the ending completely omitting her from recieving any reincanation powerup or even the final fucking fight.
Hinata is the same as Sakura, where most of her character and her story is revolving around how much she loves Naruto, whereas the more interesting parts like her inheritence being passed over to Hinabi, or her being the target of Neji's trauma and anger towards how their clan runs and what her father did. All of that is barely given anything in Part 1, and practically nothing in Shippuden.
Ino and Tenten are the worst in the Konoha 11, but poor Tenten doesn't even have a last name. She had a chance to actually get something during the War arc with the powerful weapons being something she is literally a master in, but then nothing happens of it.
Outside of that, we had Temari, who at least got the screentime and one of the better written romances with Shikamaru, but again it's devolving another female character's whole thing to romance. We don't even get her and Kankuro dealing with their abusive dad in the War arc.
She had some good moments, don't get me wrong, but that's not enough to what others get.
And Ino's just there. Really the Hidan and Kakuzu arc was mainly centred around Shikamaru, as both Choji and Ino got pushed into the background for it, but Ino didn't even do anything in the final fight. At least Choji and Kakashi got more, she just fucking stood around.
There's others but I also wanna mention that the only female Hokage we got was Tsunade, who's main jokes are how big her boobs are, her skill as a medic, and that she makes herself younger when most of the women in Naruto aren't allowed to actually look their age or even have less "pretty" features like the guys do.
TLDR: The girls are reduced down to love interests, mothers, who just are in the background with very little to do compared to their male counterparts.

can i get uhhh no3 and a no10 for the nart questions pls? (hi thymus!!)
Hiiii, Ard! thanks for being interested in my opinion xD I'll start with THE question hehe
10. OTP Who could that be...? 🤔😅 I'm going to use this opportunity to finally make a verbal statement about why i love my otp so much. I started watching Naruto as an experiment in 2022 (at the ripe age of 28) and the land of waves arc got to me: Haku's death (and the way Zabuza used him -yes, i have beef with that guy) got my empathy involved, and Kakashi-sensei charmed me by being incredibly cool AND mysterious. The mysterious part about the origin of his sharingan intrigued me the most: what do you mean "a friend gave it to him"??? who is this friend? where is he? are they still friends? All those questions needed answers. So i learned about Obito Uchiha (mostly through fanart). Then i cried my eyes out watching Kakashi Gaiden and stalled the war arc as long as i could because i knew what was going to happen, and by then i’d already fallen in love with them beyond reason.
Before anything else, this ship is so powerful because separately Kakashi and Obito are incredibly well-written characters. Yes, they complete each other and share their arc till the end, but nevertheless, each of them is autonomous, believable, complex, and deep. They are both the main dish. So the dynamic, the bond they establish between them feels true and natural. One has this sunshine personality, is kind, caring, tenderhearted, and fun; the other has too much to deal with for his age: being a genius will mess with your pride and sense of worth, but not with your tiny, pure, brave heart. Kid Obito and kid Kakashi are so precious, you wanna shield them from everything that is wrong with the world. And then tragedy №1 and tragedy №2 happen that push these two boys to realize they were supposed to be each other’s lifeline. Obito got a head start over Kakashi though. When Kakashi finally sees Obito for who he really is, the sacrifice is already made, leaving Kakashi attached to his lifeline that goes nowhere.
Tragedy №3 crushes their souls one more time and marks the beginning of the horrendous paths they take: Kakashi drowning himself in guilt and the violence of ANBU missions; Obito being groomed, brainwashed and manipulated into a gruesome conspiracy that perverted his ideals. And despite everything that happens next, they still hold on to their lifeline (the shared sharingan serving as the visualization). They are loyal to each other in their own ways. Kakashi lets his memory of Obito guide him and help him live, while Obito never seeks vengeance or takes the eye back. He even goes beyond imaginable and saves Kakashi’s life one last time.
They were written to be tragic, but they were also meant to be special. If only Kishimoto had more sympathy and allowed Obito another chance. Those two precious boys could start all over. And this time, post war, their respect, longing, sorrow, adoration, grief, regrets, hopes would be shared, and the love that had struggled to grow for so long would finally be in full blossom.
(and they’re both hot af)
3. Favorite villain
(No worries, sweet anon, i don’t consider Obito a villain xD) The key villains like Madara or Danzo remind me of middle-aged men who get hung up on conspiracy theories and start believing that they have the world figured out. So they are more annoying than scary to me. And a villain should be frightening, i think. In the ninja world this would be Orochimaru. He’s an egomaniac, a sensible madman, who is deceitful, merciless, and cruel. We were shown such atrocities, so much abuse, torture, and physical pain inflicted on innocent people. And for what? I’m not sure i fully understand his motives: was it out of fear of death? Or is this just him doing what he loves? He IS the worst, and yet, by the end of shippuden he turns into a comedy bit?! Seriously?! This is all kinds of wrong xD But the facts remain, he is a good villain, creepy and scary.
To lighten up the mood i'll attach this scene from Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals that shows the funniest wtf-ish way to defeat Orochimaru xD (now i wonder what else Kakashi can do with his water jutsu ..)
the nart questions
#i tried my best to give a concise answer concerning obkk#they rlly mean the world to me#i hope this came across#thanks for playing the game with me xD#obkk#orochimaru#asks

Do you remember when Kakashi was assigned his team? He entered Naruto House to see how he lived ? Imagine he did the same only to be surprised to see where he lives and someway every single person on the red light district its glaring at him and he can't even go to Naruto room/House because he is blocked by Naruto family
Kakashi and the Hokage get to the building but before they can let themselves in they see a beautiful man sitting in the sill among the beds of poisonous plants and flowers toying with a too sharp hair pin with a glittering star on the end.
“It is bad form for Shinobi to break into homes without permission, no? An abuse of power one might say.”
Kakashi doesn’t tense like the Hokage does, only leans back against the opposite wall and eye smiles at the man. “Standard procedure. It is necessary that a Jonin sensei knows that his students are safe in their homes. Particularly those that live alone.”
The man flips the pin in his hand again, for a second looking like he was going to send it straight for Kakashi’s good eye, then he beams.“The kit isn’t alone, and he would be upset to know someone was in his space without permission. His flowers can be delicate after all.”
He tips his head to the side, a beacon in the morning light. A second later the pin embeds itself into the stone at Kakashi’s feet so deep that it stands straight up. A warning. A promise. “Come back when he’s home if you’re so concerned Jonin-san. Dinner is at seven. You will behave yourself or you’ll find the matching pin somewhere far more,” His eyes drag down Kakashi’s body, settling between his legs “important.”
Kakashi nods and turns back to the street. Away from the red lanterns. Away from the eyes that watch them from every window and alley. The Hokage follows in shock.
He will be back. He needs to know more.
#the elf talks#naruto#red lights and fox fire au#Aki casually threatening a former ANBU and the Hokage himself is such a vibe tbh

Art by Nox on Facebook Name: Uchiha Karasu
Aliases/Nicknames: Little Crow
Age: Part I (1) Part II (3), Blank Period (4-17), Boruto (18)
Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Unsure
Kekkai Genkai (if any): Sharingan
Chakra Natures: Fire, Lightning
Nationality: Land of Medicine, Land of Fire
Rank: Kage
Relationships: Karasu is very close to her senseis and uncle. She has several children with different people, never bearing them but having Orochimaru create them through combing hers and others' DNA.
Personality: Karasu is quiet, aware of her father’s and family’s legacy and afraid to be too out there. Training with Naruto, Sasuke, Killer B, and her other teammates has allowed for her to come out of her shell. She grows into a strong and confident shinobi, a trusted and feared Kage, and a perfect Jinchuriki. Karasu is a powerful force that stays quiet until she's needed to speak.
History: Karasu was a surprise to both her mother and Itachi. She was raised adjacent to the Akatsuki until after the Fourth Great Ninja War when her mother sought refuge with the Hidden Leaf village. With her Uchiha bloodline, Karasu was sought after by many when she was young, eventually being stolen away when she was five. Akatsuki loyalists placed Matatabi, the Two Tails, into her in order to control both the Biju and the young Uchiha. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke rescued her and brought her home. She trains under Naruto and Kurma to learn how to be a Jinchuriki and spends time with Sakura taking care of baby Sadara.
Her seal is extremely complicated, levels upon levels of genjutsu, fail safes, traps, a psychological maze to keep Karasu and Matatabi from sharing Chakra easily. It's a long and arduous process to break and undo all of the seal's levels. Once the genjutsu that caused Matatabi to be abusive towards Karasu is broken, it alerts the group who stole the two in the first place.
After passing her chunin exams, Karasu approaches Orochimaru for training, much like her uncle did before her. In order to bypass the maze, Karasu is branded with a curse mark. This allows for her and Matatabi to transfer chakra freely between each other while it's activated. During this time, the group who sealed Matatabi in Karasu reappears, trying to take their weapon back. Through her own skills and allies, they're able to be defeated.
After she becomes a jonin , the seal is finally completely undone and broken, allowing for Karasu and Matatabi to become a perfect Jinchuriki.
For a few years, Karasu takes to wandering the nations, wanting to truly understand who she is.
Karasu reforms the Akatsuki, turning them into a group for protection and peace, not war and peace. They act as Team Zero for the Allied Shinobi World.
Later on, after years of leading the Akatsuki, Karasu creates her own Hidden Village, transforming the Mountain's Graveyard. The Village Hidden in the Bones within the Land of Ghosts. She stands as the Yūreikage.
Abilities: Through numerous experiments with the help of Orochimaru, Karasu is able to awaken the Rinnegan, giving her access to an enormous amount of power. She creates several of her own jutsus, combing her own abilities with Matatabi’s to create two new nature styles: Radiation and Sun. As a Kage, she is the strongest in her village of outcasts.

Kakashi and Sakura together?
I just wanted to say a few words regarding the coupling of KakaSaku and why it should have really happened.
First of all yes, Kakashi was her sensei and 14 yrs older but "WHO CARES!" Age dose not matter once your an adult!
Kakashi is an exceptionally good man who has given everything to his country and the people he loves. He is the last man that deserves to be unhappy. Yet he has suffered so much tragedy and pain and has been alone his whole life.
Sakura is so strong and also very exeptional. She didn't have any natural abilities when she first started. Unlike her comrades she only had her heart and iron will to get her through things. She had to work extra hard to become what she is, an extraordinarily strong and powerful woman.
(And to those who keep saying that she dose not have anything special or powerful like the other characters you must have been watching a totally different show than I did. I mean she took on Sasori, one of the most powerful villins in the show, and even through the old lady was helping with her chakra strings in the beginning, she was the one who finished him off strong without any help in the end. She also mastered the strength of a hundred seals by 16yrs old, younger than Tsunade. She can crumble buildings and split the ground in half with just her fists for hell sakes! Not powerful really? Just because she is not part god dose not mean she's not powerful!)
Anyways, I could keep adding to the list and ramble on about that for a while but back to the subject. She is also an amazingly good woman, a healer who is extremely loyal and giving but has had nothing but heartache from Saskue. I know that she ended up with Sauske in the cartoon and I'm so glad his character changed, everyone wanted to see that happen, mainly because of Sakura and her undying love. But I have a hard time overlooking his abuse towards her including, neglect and trying to kill her a couple of times. Sorry folks she dose deserve better!
Kakashi on the other hand has risked his life on numerous occasions to save her. He has shown nothing but love and kindness towards her non-stop the entire time without any questions. Even though Sakura is strong and dose not ask for help, in the back of her mind she knows if Kakashi is there she will always be protected! Unlike Sauske who only showed kindness or love after having a out of body near death experience with Naruto and wondering around for years. She never had to cry, pine and run after Kakashi for him to touch her gently and try and make her feel better.
She deserves to have someone who has and always will be there for her and Kakashi deserves to be with someone who is loyal and loves him enough to catch him if he falls.
In short neither of them should ever have to be lonely! Such a good man and woman deserve to have a loving marrige where they never have to worry about each other being there or having each others backs. Feeling nothing but joy and warmth with and in each others embrace. Being able to make love (bomb ass love!) and not worry about how long before they see each other again. They both deserve to know the joy of having a happy family where the children never have to question Sakura as to why there father is never around because he always would be. They deserve to be with the most worthy of people, each other!
I know that's a little bit on the fluff side of things, but it's just how I feel.
I love the cartoon and all it's character's, but these two are by far my favorites for these reasons plus some!
I hope this sheds a little bit of light as to why I love KakaSaku.
Thanks for reading.

I hope this doesn't sound offensive, but can you list everything you hate about Boruto both the character himself and the series??(I wanted to ask you since I wanted to get as much information as possible to imagine a re-write or arc to fix the problems)
The way the original cast is drawn as adults. Naruto, Sasuke, Gaara, Mizukage Mei, Kiba, Hinata, Anko, Yamato, etc. They were made sooo ugly! Ugh!
How they completely ruined Hinata and NaruHina. Because, all Hinata does is act like those abusive wives who were all sweet and nice when they were dating. But, after they get married? They turn into horrible women with their husbands.
How Sasuke is so lame, docile and OOC as hell! It’s just like Vegeta from Dragon Ball Super. I prefer the original ones that I saw at the beginning.
Boruto is just so dislikable. He’s crap! He’s so annoying. He’s just like Sailor Mini Moon. They think they’re so much stronger and cooler than their parents. But, they’re not. They think they’re so perfect, powerful and mature. They’re not!
How Boruto was basically, befriending and changing his enemies like Naruto used to in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. That’s blasphemy!!! I HATE BORUTO! That kid isn’t his dad! He’s not charismatic at all and I don’t believe he’s able to change people. I don’t buy it. The stupid creator (whose name I wrote down in my Death Note) of Boruto just did it. Because, Boruto is the main character.
How they made ALL of Naruto’s Semes/Tops completely forget about the love and how gay they were for him.
How they brainwashed Sai and erased ALL of his memories of Naruto and him. Then, they replaced them with fake ones of Ino.
Okay, the whole Mitsuki x Boruto ship. I ABHOR IT! Mitsuki was forced to love Boruto! It’s something that was implanted into his brain since he was born. The only sun & moon ship i acknowledge is, SasuNaru.
How they nerfed Sasuke and Naruto.
How they made Orochimaru all young and pretty. But, made Yamato old and ugly.
How Kakashi’s infatuation with Minato-sensei is completely gone. SERIOUSLY! What the hell?! Even Homophobic guys liked how much he idolized Minato in Shippuden.
How they took away all of Naruto‘a cool moves. Wind Shuriken? He doesn’t know it. How many thousands of shadow clones he could make? Nope. He can only make 7 or 8 now.
How some episodes are just cheap and crappy remakes of ones that we’ve already seen in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.
They made Tsunade flat-chested. Why? That was her trait.
They cured Konohamaru of his Narutosexuality by, making him fall in love with a 99¢ store version of Tsunade in a freaking filler arc!!!
Naruto!!! Poor Naruto is no longer the cheerful boy he once was. Before anyone says something stupid about how he’s an adult now and HAD to change. That is BS! I’m 32 years old and I’ve had the exact same personality since the day I was born. My Dad too!! And like, what about Minato and Kushina? They kept the exact same personality they had as children! I mean, I understand that a person’s personality SOME TIMES changes with time or from childhood > adolescence > adulthood. OR if they had a traumatic experience. Which is what I think could be the case here. Naruto was forced to marry and have children with Hinata. Who he didn’t feel anything towards! He HAD to have an entire movie made so that he would be forced to love her. Please!!! Give me a freaking break!!! You wanna know what Naruto and Sasuke (including their American Voice Actors) wanted? They wanted to be together! Naruto wanted to “restore” Sasuke’s clan. If Sasuke would’ve asked? Well, Naruto would have transformed into Naruko/Sexy Jutsu to have children or something. They both would’ve been so happy together.
I’m probably leaving out a lot of other issues. But, I’m busy right now. I’m playing Dragon Age Inquisition on my PS5. I’m leveling up and talking to characters in the game to grind points. Bye.

Headcanons on Tobirama and why I write him the way I do:
Allow me to first and foremost emphasize the word headcanon(s), before proceeding. I’ve written this out to essentially explain how I personally view Tobirama, why I write him the way I do for a series of fanfics I recently posted to AO3, and may potentially continue to write :3
With that being said~
When he was younger I feel that he had to put on a strong face for his brothers. He felt the need to protect and shield them from his father’s hard training and abuse. He observed the world around him and approached everything matter of factually not just for them, but for himself, to accept the reality that they were stuck in, as a way of coping.
As he grows into a teen-young adult, he becomes even more serious with training and his curiosity heightens for learning new techniques to further his skills. He does so to keep his only remaining brother safe and to keep their mutual dream alive. I headcanon that he trains with Hashirama often so that they both can keep their skills at their peak. When he can’t train with Hashirama because he’s training elsewhere (sage training for example), he dives into reading and studying, he trains himself harder in suiton, he trains with other clan members, or this is where the -insert fanfic opportunity- to visit a potential S/O comes in.
No, I don’t think all of his time is spent training. Him and Hashirama have other duties to attend to too- mainly politics and chores; providing resources for meals (Tobirama would excel at fishing and enjoy it), shopping at local populated towns or areas for other groceries and supplies, attending meetings with other clans regarding anything from illnesses the Senju could help with- to escorting clans, people with power, notable figures, or others, etc. Later on this knowledge and experience would provide handy for them in the founding of Konohagakure and bringing clans together, imo.
Around age 24, the time of Izuna’s death, he’s visibly shown in a clan battle scene fighting for his life. You can see the expression written clearly on his face that he’s irritated of this clan war; he wants it to be over with. The peaceful future his brother and he desires for, can never become a reality as long as this clan war continues.
Around 25-26 Konohagakure is founded.
Around 31 he creates the Ninja Training Institution that later becomes known as the Ninja Academy.
Around 34 he becomes his team’s Sensei.
Around 40 he becomes Nidaime Hokage, creates the Konoha Police, and later that year- is killed by the Kinkaku Force.
^ 24-40 age bracket are more fact-type timeline things than they are headcanons, but they’re relevant.
Time/Type:
Frankly the timeline is probably the only solid information here, as my headcanons are simply that- headcanons. Sorry admirers; he’s probably not looking for any potential love interests until after the clan war with the Uchiha is over- that’s my personal headcanon and that’s one of the reasons why I wrote my fanfics with my Original Character the way that I did. I insert as much freedom into this man’s life as I could for an S/O, but his life is overwhelming and chaotic. Not saying don’t do it or don’t try it. ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ This man is 100% worth it.
I imagine this man as Demi- he’s not going to fall for you unless he knows you on a deeply personal level. He needs to trust you, and that’s something that requires building.
For his Persona:
It’s fanon- (I doubt it’s established canon, because manually who’s counting this?) that we’ve seen over 5,000 jutsu in the combined Naruto/Shippuden series, and Tobirama is responsible for inventing more than 3,500 of those.
To create so many in such a small lifespan, you’ve got to spend all of your time solely dedicated to the cause. But he has a clan to defend, eventually has Konohagakure to help establish, has missions to run, he has a team to mentor, he eventually becomes Nidaime Hokage. And without a doubt it helps that he develops shadow clones (kage bunshin no jutsu) to help with this later down the line.
The man likely uses all of his spare time pouring into the task, and forces himself to sleep. But when he finally lays his head down to rest- his mind is still left brainstorming and racing through copious amounts of information. That’s where I headcanon him the way that I do.
When he’s first introduced during the chūnin exams, he’s not exactly thrilled with the situation but he’s shown smiling quite a bit. You can tell he enjoys battle to some extent. In my view it’s also a level of coping (or denial). Being so used to something negative, or painful, to such a degree that you let it wash over you, shrug everything off, and smile or laugh about it. I see it a lot irl. A lot of successful functioning adults carry on with this attitude.
Towards the end he tells Sarutobi that he’s sorry for causing him trouble- those words in itself hold a lot of gravity, imo. He’s taking in accountability for the forbidden technique (kinjutsu: edo tensei) and the domino effect that it has caused his former student.
In a filler episode he’s shown again helping the ‘Eternal Genin’, Kosuke Maruboshi. This time his attitude is a little more serious, but it’s still helpful and reaching. He desires to teach Kosuke skills to defend himself. ‘Give a man fish, it feeds him for a day. Teach a man to fish, it feeds him for a lifetime.’
In the Fourth Shinobi War Arc, he appears again- this time he appears a bit more aged than the first time he was summoned via Edo Tensei, and this time his mannerisms and persona seem more mature. It’s stated that he was summoned differently from the first time, so it only makes sense. Orochimaru also doesn’t blank out his personality this time around. He has more freedom to function and operate- to be himself.
What’s notable to me is how he interacts with everyone around him. He still interacts with his Brother as was shown in the flashbacks. He interacts with Minato and Naruto in a somewhat easy-going and friendly manner. I.e. they mesh well and can read each other’s abilities without having been acquainted long, and Naruto slowly frustrates him with a shadow clone jutsu explanation, lol.
He listens to Sasuke and his team to receive the full details of the situation, though desiring to make haste to the battlefield. He doesn’t have much choice and his brother makes a final call. Another +point to the ‘respects his brother’ tally card.
To me these scenes tell me that his morals are high, his need to set things ‘right’ are high. That he holds high respect for his brother, and that he has the capacity to evaluate the details of a situation and explain at length to others information they require.
Later there are several other scenes where we catch sight of him, and he’s again: smiling, or he has a grin, in most.
I’d describe him as sassy, he’s got that in spades. He’ll be the first one to call you out on any mistakes, or make a blunt assessment of the situation. Meaning he’s vocal. One of the opposite traits of ‘stoic’ (I’m tired of seeing this word being used to describe him). I’d also describe him as observant, and takes the situation for the seriousness it deserves.
When it comes to battle, sparring, or anything competitive like, he is seen to have moments of pleasure on the battlefield- he is caught with those smiles or grins. Be them from amusement, contentment, out of sass, feeling confident- they are most certainly there. And that is where I choose to write him. I will take that leap and write him playful and smiley any day of the week.
And don’t let that handsome smile fool you. He’s still cunningly brilliant, and quick, with shadow clones! He’ll catch you when you least expect it- now that’s canon. Madara said it himself in the anime.
Welcome to my Naruto-verse. And my Tobirama Headcanons \o/
Extra tidbit of Into:
In a databook it’s mentioned that his favourite words were "Mind, technique, body" (心・技・体, Shin - gi - tai).
>>>
I want to delve into this a smidge. More headcanons btw. He may have picked this up over time after studying through so much information, or maybe it was inspired by his Brother and the sage training he went through- perhaps it’s an accumulation of both. The fact that he aligned the three to begin-with signifies awareness, imo.
He’s aware when his body doesn’t have the right nutrients or isn’t properly fed- that he’s going to be subpar on the battlefield (applies to everyday activities as well).
He’s aware if he doesn’t have the right amount of sleep, when something has his head space distracted- that his thoughts are going to drift elsewhere and he’s going to be subpar on the battlefield (applies to everyday activities as well).
He’s aware if his abilities, skill, or knowledge in an area is mediocre or weak, that he’s going to be subpar or not as effective as he could be on the battlefield, potentially even a risk. And in a political environment, it could lose the trust and cooperation of peers or others.
I think he attempts his best to take care of himself to maintain that order of ‘mind, technique, body’, and to be as effective as he can for the sake of those around him; he just may fail at it sometimes with his lifestyle.

Anime (personal perception); I created a collage of screenshot some time back specifically for this (and then completely forgot to add an important scene and omitted several similar-in appearance scenes). I’m going to add that collage again (with minor edits). This collage helps to display the foundation of my thought process for Tobirama's behavior and mannerisms:
Extra Nonsense:
Repeating myself a bit; I’m not trying to start a war or begin a debate with all this *gestures to all of the above*. I just wanted to explain why I wrote Tobirama the way that I did in my Tobirama x OC fanfics before I was piled with a bunch of questions regarding it. Not that I dislike questions! This is just easier- to explain it all, in its entirety, all at once. Honestly I don’t think anyone will care enough to read the fanfics in the first place, lol. Regardless, here~ have my Tobirama headcanons~! x3
And I don’t know if it’s obvious, but I’ve been trying to repeat and emphasize the word ‘headcanon’ a dozen times. 95% of this, if not more, are headcanonssssss~
#tobirama#Tobirama Senju#Senju Tobirama#tobirama headcanons#hey~ something in here looks familiar right~? /winkwink#it's been a while! \o/#please do NOT ignore the extra nonsense section- for the love of Gods#it explains why I wrote this entire thing v_v#I don't wanna tag this man's name more than I have to... only doing this for fanfic purposes as it is...#also- I didn't add this into the body of the post but I DO picture Tobi as protective towards an S/O partner (borderline overprotective)?#I also picture him as warm and gentle- but often times his mind is elsewhere (with work and missions etc)#I add those into tags because they too are headcanons and this post was meant to be an attachment to my fanfic (not a standalone post)#However it's fine to be taken either way x3

The day Umino Iruka walked into the clinic seeking therapy was the day Rikona changed her plans to fit her new narrative. Sure, she’d been next and available to take patients, standing right at the check-in desk as he filled out his paperwork; and normally, there was a day or two in-between registration and the first session, just so the team of psychiatrists and therapists could best review the potential case and match the best team with the patient. But none of that mattered. She was going to take Umino Iruka, and as soon as he finished filing his intake forms, she took the thin folder right out of Aiko’s hands.
“Right this way, Umino-sensei.”
“I prefer to be addressed with my given name,” he said on the walk to her office.
“Of course, Iruka-sensei. I’m Rikona.”
It’s so simple to establish a baseline with Umino. He wants to tell someone about his story, he wants to get better, but he doesn’t have the words for it and he doesn't know how to get there. She gently prompts him along, learning his past and keeping him from dissociating—she finds out in the first session that good is not a word Iruka can hear in certain contexts. She discovers trauma hidden in every corner of his life, coloring every interaction he’s had since he was eleven. She hears about Naruto and how Iruka’s as good as adopted him, even if the village won’t let it be official; and about Kakashi, the partner who suggested Iruka seek out counseling, yet forgoes his own mental health.
Really, it’s not hard to understand him.
So they have a couple of sessions and it’s working well. She’s getting to know him, while at the same time getting him to trust her and tell her more about his story.
But after only a few sessions, he is captured and tortured and she has to make a hospital visit when he's inevitably brought home—by none other than Hatake Kakashi. And of course, Hatake doesn’t leave his side throughout the hospital stay except for required psychiatric consults. Umino comes out the other side of his captivity with minor injuries and almost no backslide on his mental health progress.
Rikona gives herself much of the credit for that. To Hatake, she initially gives a modicum of a nod; he’s certainly present.
~
Iruka trips for the third time in almost as many minutes, and puts a palm to his temple. “Rikona-sensei, is there somewhere I can sit down for a moment?”
She looks back at him, brows raised. “Another dizzy spell?”
He nods.
Rikona leads him to a bench and lets him sit, guiding his head to rest in his palms, his elbows braced on his thighs. She had said that they were going to go straight to the Hokage Tower, but the hospital never felt this far away before. It feels like he’s been walking for over an hour.
“How much longer to the Tower?” he asks.
“Not too much,” she says. “Ten minutes.”
That. That doesn't sound right. The hospital is only a fifteen minute walk from the Tower. Why have they been walking for so long?
He lifts his head and looks around, but the wooded park they’re in looks like any other in Konoha. “Rikona-sensei, why are we in a park?”
“You asked for a little time to make sure the medication I gave you is in full effect before speaking to Tsunade-sama,” Rikona answers quickly. “Do you not remember?”
The world is still spinning. He carefully shakes his head before putting his head back down. “Are these dizzy spells also a side-effect?”
“Unfortunately, yes. You may have to just power through them.”
Iruka groans. “Okay, let’s keep going, then.”
Rikona offers her hand to help him stand, and her elbow to keep him steady as they walk.
The trees go by.
The sounds of the village fade away.
~
And then they find out that the Sato event traumatized Hatake. And honestly? She kept her cool in the meeting, but that night when she’s home, she has herself a good laugh. The man went and got himself traumatized over someone who he’s been manipulating for months, if not years? She’s not heard of a successful Reverse Stockholm syndrome; it’s hilarious.
But she also harbors a deep-set anger because it was under Hatake’s watch that Umino went and took that mission—he’s not an active field agent, shouldn’t be in the field, it should have never happened. It was under Hatake’s watch that the Sato incident occurred.
And then Umino talks about moving. And Rikona knows. This is the time. He’s asking for her advice, blushing as he talks about someday asking Hatake to move in together. But Hatake’s influence has been nothing positive and she knows exactly who Umino should be seeing instead.
She knows because she’s been covering for his usual therapist for over seven months and she’s a professional. She knows how to recognize abusers, manipulators. She can form an emotional connection with a carrot if it needs therapy—she’s good.
So when Mizuki tells her about his old boyfriend, this wonderful man he misses so dearly, who has never once visited him in prison; Rikona resolves to be the one to help this man, her patient, receive closure at the least—or reunite long lost lovers at best.
She knows she’s making the right decision. She knows Mizuki is good for Iruka. She knows because when she told him about what happened to Umino, she could hear his heart break.
“That’s why I never let Iruka take missions without me, see? Because I knew things like this could happen, and I care about him—Rikona, I care so very much—I could never have forgiven myself if something like this had happened to him while we were together.”
And no one can fake that tone, those heart-wrenching sobs, the tears, oh gods the tears.
Together they make a plan. And she’s so happy to help him, so happy that she’s essential to his reunion with Umino. Mizuki says it himself; without her, the plan could never be implemented. She even lets him write the first letter, so Umino can hear his words straight from his own hand.
And on her way out of the prison that day, she grabs a few forms, and some extra envelopes, and if one happens to be a request for a conjugal visit, well… Mizuki’s been alone for so long. The least Umino can do is reconsider.
...
(She didn’t know what that first letter said until Iruka-sensei brought it to her office, feeling like he could dissociate at any moment and experiencing a moderate anxiety attack. When she read it, she felt a sting of doubt, like maybe Mizuki wasn’t how she’d diagnosed him. But then she remembers Hatake, and how Mizuki says he changes things to fit his stories; and she realizes that this note must have been tampered with before it reached Iruka-sensei.)
~
The prison break for one goes like this.
It starts seven months prior, with the head psychiatrist for the hospital getting swamped with paperwork and a sudden flood of new patients, and it’s only her, Rikona, and one other therapist working the clinic lately. Tomi-sensei asks—practically begs—Rikona to take her prison shift on Fridays, that they’ll shut down the clinic except for emergencies. It’s only until further notice, only until Tomi-sensei can hire another psychiatrist, or at least another therapist.
When Rikona gets to the prison, the guard is wary at first—she'd already been there that week—but after a quick explanation he waves her through. She's been treating inmates in the East Wing for months prior, so she knows her way through security. But Tomi-sensei treats inmates in the West Wing. Three inmates, specifically.
The first she sees for an hour and a half. The first half hour is talk therapy, the last hour she oversees his electroconvulsive therapy. The second receives a cocktail of anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers, a tranquilizer, and extra medicine to help with the side-effects of all these. Then, Rikona sits with them and talks for an hour. After that, she breaks for lunch. Finally, the third inmate of the West Wing; who receives one large dose of a mood stabilizer, and two hours of therapy.
Two hours a week, for seven months. Sometimes she stays later if the story he’s telling is particularly riveting, and she thinks that his telling of the story will help him.
But at the end of the day, she signs off on all three patients, carefully writing Tomi-sensei’s name in place of her own. Tomi trusts her judgement, and her conscience is clear. All three patients are steadily improving, some at slower paces, but improvement nonetheless. Rikona bills the hours in her own name, though; Tomi can take the credit for their health, but she needs to pay her mortgage.
So it’s easy to check out one of the East Wing prisoners for electroconvulsive therapy that Monday when she heads in. And she’s been working in the prison for years, so security knows her, and the East Wing prisoners are minimum security risks anyway—Rikona, thin and small as she is, picks an old woman to lead to therapy. And if the room for electroconvulsive therapy is in the West Wing, well security knows that Rikona knows her way around there, too.
The old woman is feeble, slow, gentle. The prison system broke her years ago. The poor thing doesn’t need to be shocked into submission. That’s not why Rikona brought her along.
There’s a seal she knows—the only advanced bit of chakra use she ever learned, before she determined that the shinobi way wasn’t her way—which can render a person invisible for a short time. She knows that the loss of his ability to mold chakra is very hard on Mizuki, and so when she leads the old woman into his cell and gives him the premade seal, she returns the grin he gives her.
“It’s time,” she says.
“You have him?”
“He’s all yours, Mizuki. You just have to promise to be careful. Whatever’s been done, he’s—”
“Rikona-sensei, I could never hurt him.” She presses the tag to his chest and he disappears.
She closes the door to the cell, leaving the woman in there alone, and walks away.
Confidently, she strides through the halls of the prison. She waves to the security personnel she knows. And then she gets back to the woman’s cell, and pushes another tag onto it—one to keep the door locked for good. They won’t be realizing that she’s gone for hours, if not days. They only use the flap at the bottom of the door to push her meals inside, and the tag leaves that part alone, she makes sure of it.
She toes it, just a little, just to be sure. It sways.
Rikona walks out the front doors, Mizuki a silent, invisible presence behind her.
~
Does she feel bad for lying to her client?
Gods, yes.
But it’s for his own good.
Hatake is a terrible, manipulative elitist. He doesn’t deserve someone like Iruka-sensei.
They’re five minutes from her home, a wooden cabin she maintains deep in the forests outside of the village. It’s there that the medication takes full effect and Iruka-sensei collapses. She’s so much smaller than him, and he’s heavier than he looks, but she pulls him onto her back and drags his feet along the ground and up the stone steps and into the house.
She’s careful, laying him down on the rug in front of the fireplace. It’s warm, so she doesn’t feel the need to start a fire. He’ll stay unconscious for a few hours, just until after sunset. She puts a blanket within reach, just in case he wakes up before they get back.
And then she leaves to collect Mizuki.
~
Kakashi doesn’t know how to explain it.
But something’s wrong.
There’s an odd scent in the air.
He had been heading to Iruka’s house, but he sighs and turns around to head back to the Tower. He’s still not going to take that mission, but he needs to talk to Tsunade.
~
Rikona watches as Mizuki strokes Iruka’s face tenderly. She’s making dinner in the kitchen and they’re laying side-by-side on the rug in front of the fireplace, now lit and warming the cabin. Her heart swells to see them together again after all this time, and she hopes that Hatake hasn’t poisoned Iruka-sensei’s memories so much that he can’t remember the good times he had with Mizuki.
They look good together.
Iruka-sensei hasn’t woken up yet, but she checked his vitals when they came back and he’s coming back to himself. They had pulled his vest and weapons off of him and set them on the couch once they got back, so he could lay more comfortably. He should wake any minute.
~
“A bad feeling?”
“A bad scent.”
“Like an intruder?”
“I don’t know. Very likely.”
Tsunade steeples her fingers. “Track it. Do not engage. Report back.”
Kakashi nods and turns to leave.
“It could be Akatsuki,” she warns. “Be careful.”
Kakashi is gone as soon as she finishes her sentence.
~
This isn’t what she wanted. She didn’t want to be a part of this. This isn’t love.
Rikona can’t believe she was so thoroughly duped.
~
The pack at large doesn’t know the scent he’s trying to convey to them. All he can say to describe it is wrong and bad and that can describe any fucker who hits their partner or child, or any stall vendor who deliberately raises their prices for a certain kind of person, or—
“The ripe, rancid one?” Pakkun asks, growling.
And those are the words he’s been searching for, yes. The rest of the pack catches that same scent and readies themselves.
“That’s the one. What is it?”
“That’s the prisoner Iruka-Boss fought a while back, when the prison had that major breakout.”
Kakashi’s stomach flips and his spine chills.
Mizuki.
~
“You’re awake.”
Mizuki puts his hand over Iruka’s mouth to keep him from crying out, leans over and whispers in his ear, “You could never get away from me, don’t start trying now.” The tears glistening in the corners of his eyes shimmer in the firelight and he looks beautiful when he cries. Mizuki dips his head and kisses Iruka’s neck, relishing the whimper he receives.
He removes his hand, knowing he has Iruka’s obedience.
“You’re not real,” he mutters. “This isn’t real. It’s-It’s a side-effect. Of the m-medication.”
“Oh, baby, this isn’t a dream,” Mizuki lifts himself to hover over Iruka, pressing the length of his body along the tan one on the floor. “I’m here. I’m here to stay.” He shoves his knees in-between Iruka’s thighs and rolls his hips. “Hmm, missed this. Missed you. Did you miss me, too, baby?”
“Get off,” Iruka hisses.
Mizuki grins and presses his teeth to Iruka’s neck. “Don’t mind if I do.”
~
Kakashi sends half of the pack to find Iruka, and the rest follow Mizuki’s scent.
He goes to the prison; he needs to check himself. He needs Pakkun to be wrong.
The security personnel confirm that prisoner 834-769 is in his cell. Been there all morning. There’s no log of him being taken out. Kakashi doesn’t growl, but asks if someone can go down to the cell and give him visual confirmation.
“Chakra confirmation is sufficient when there’s no cause for alarm,” he’s told.
Chakra confirmation???
“The fucker has no ability to mold chakra! And there is cause for alarm,” he grits through his teeth. “My pack caught his scent outside. I need visual confirmation of his presence in his cell now.”
Security at least pretends to take him seriously. They send a team down to the West Wing and Kakashi considers following them.
And then a bone-chilling howl echoes outside, and Kakashi doesn’t care about visual confirmation. Because the howl is the one that says scent lost and it’s coming from Bull’s half of the pack, the half that’s supposed to find Iruka—
And if they lost his scent—
Kakashi bolts.
~
Rikona leaves them to reacquaint in the living room. She steps outside. The stew will be alright on its low heat, and the rice still has plenty of time left to steam.
The stars are nice. The moon is waning from full, and she pulls a throw blanket tighter around her shoulders. In the distance, she can hear wolves howling and smiles softly.
It’s such a nice night.
~
He can’t explain it. He doesn’t stop to try, to tell an ANBU patrol what he’s doing, or to find Gai or anyone else.
The look on the security guard’s face was enough. No one will believe him if he tells them that Mizuki has something to do with Iruka’s disappearance. Hell, no one will likely believe him if he tells them that Iruka’s missing. After the Sato incident—and his reaction afterwards; he can admit that he was being a little overprotective—no one will take him seriously.
Kakashi has to do this by instinct. He has the pack flanking him, leading him along the ripe, rancid scent. They understand without him explaining, thank the gods.
Iruka is pack. This knowledge is as an intrinsic part of him as his family name, as chidori, as his loyalty to Konoha. More than this, the deeper part of him recognizes Iruka as his and recognizes the reciprocal possession Iruka holds on his very being.
Whether he knows it or not, Iruka owns him.
Boss’s Boss, indeed.
~
Mizuki hears the door shut behind Rikona as she leaves. He puts his mouth over Iruka’s, and when his lips won’t part he pulls on Iruka’s hair knowing that it will force a gasp as well as remind Iruka whose he is. He pushes his tongue into Iruka’s mouth when it opens and rolls his hips faster. With his other hand—the one not busy with the hair—he reaches to his crotch and pulls down the front of his prison pants and frees his dick. He fights with Iruka’s pants, and then lowers those too and eventually grabs both of them together in his fist.
Iruka’s limp. That’s fine. He’s used to working with that.
Iruka winces into their kiss, muttering, “Stop.”
“None of that. You know better.”
Iruka turns away. “I said, stop.”
Mizuki lets go of his own dick and pinches Iruka’s, watching him wince and hold back tears and bite his bottom lip.
“You know I don’t like that word. You don’t get to tell me to stop.” He grabs them both and strokes. “There, isn’t that better?”
“No, please—I can’t—I don’t want—”
Mizuki pulls his hair harder, twists his fist in the strands, and Iruka relaxes and his eyes turn glassy and there he goes. Mizuki grins, bites at Iruka’s mouth, and says, “Beg me to touch you.”
The response comes like the last two and a half years never happened. “Touch me,” Iruka murmurs.
“Tell me you missed me.”
“Missed you, ‘Zuki.”
“Aww, baby. Don’t worry. I’ll make you feel good.”
~
Kakashi runs through the forest behind the hospital and another sinking feeling hits his belly.
Rikona-sensei was supposed to be in charge of Iruka’s care.
But if Iruka’s missing.
Where’s Rikona-sensei?
“Pakkun.”
“Boss.”
“You know Iruka’s therapist?”
“Yeah. She went this way, too.”
Mizuki took them both. Fuck.
~
“Want to suck my cock, baby?”
Iruka comes back, just for a moment, just long enough to get the n sound of his answer. Mizuki tugs his hair again—training Iruka to become his personal little slut at the pull of his hair was the most brilliant idea Mizuki had ever had; he pats his own back every day he remembers the time he spent on it. And, damn it took time. Iruka never liked having his hair pulled, so the pain and the sex and his never-ending desire to please Mizuki combined together to make a perfect storm. And it still took months, almost a year, of hair-pulling and ordering Iruka around to condition him into the perfect whore.
And now, thanks to Rikona, he’s got that back.
He pulls himself up to the couch and sits, slides his pants to his thighs, and guides Iruka into position over his cock. There’s still tears on his lashes, and that’s just fucking perfect.
Mizuki’s been using his hand for over a year, and Tsubaki’s cunt before that.
Nothing compares to Iruka’s throat.
“Oh, good boy,” he groans as Iruka slides down over him. It’s tight, hot, wet—perfect—he put so much work into training this slut to take him and blow him right and two years isn’t enough time for Iruka to forget it seems, because he gets to slurping and tonguing and bobbing his head like he never left Mizuki’s legs.
~
Rikona stops in the doorway, blinking.
Iruka-sensei has dissociated. Mizuki seems to be aware of this, yet isn’t trying to get him to come back. In fact, he’s using Iruka-sensei’s mouth as-as—
She turns and goes back outside, closing the door quietly behind her.
She looks up at the night sky and suddenly the stars don’t feel so relaxing.
~
“My sweet, good boy, sucking me soo good. Look at you. Right where you belong.”
He remembers what he’s heard about Hatake from Rikona. What a joke. “As if blowing someone else could ever change who owns you.”
Iruka whimpers. Gods that sound fucking drives him crazy.
“Who owns you, baby?”
Iruka pulls off of him, just enough. “You, Mizuki.”
“Fuck, missed this.” He pushes Iruka back down, hits the back of his throat and keeps going. He takes Iruka’s hair in both hands and moves his head for him; Iruka isn’t going fast enough to get him off. This way, though, “You’re mine, baby. So good. Mine, mine, mine—FUCK!”
He shoots down Iruka’s throat.
The first time they did this, Iruka had spat it out. Mizuki made sure he never did that again. He knows that Iruka throws up later, once he comes back to himself; but whatever. Right now, he’s swallowing down Mizuki’s come, his throat working his pulsing cock and it feels great. He pulls back near the end of his orgasm, and lets the last pulses of come splash on Iruka’s lips and chin, watching it drip down his neck.
The tears are falling freely, but Iruka will stay on his knees until Mizuki tells him to get up. Fucking beautiful.
~
Why would Mizuki take both of them?
It doesn’t make sense.
Iruka, obviously. Mizuki’s had it out for Iruka since they were twelve, if not younger.
But why Rikona-sensei? If nothing else, he should have killed her. They should have found a body.
They still haven’t picked up on Iruka’s scent. There’s a third scent, but it’s muddled and weird and Kakashi can’t place it.
“Boss.”
“Akino.”
“Smoke, up ahead.”
“That’s where they are.”
He knows it in his bones. In his soul. He’d bet his life on it.
… He’s also betting Iruka’s life on it. The pack is already at top speed, but for this last sprint they all push just a little more.
~
Rikona walks off the porch and down the path. She’s reviewing the last four months of therapy sessions with Iruka-sensei in her head, and the last seven months with Mizuki, wondering where she went wrong. She hugs her arms tight to her body and watches her feet.
Hatake-san is an elitist. A genius, gifted child who advanced through the ranks too quickly and thinks too highly of himself. He’s Friend-Killer Kakashi, known for leaving a teammate for dead, for putting his own fist through the girl who loved him for the sake of a mission. He’s manipulative, and known for reading porn in public, and tampers with his partner’s mail, and-and-and—
She’s reaching.
She knows she’s reaching.
Oh gods, what has she done.
~
Kakashi watches Rikona stop on the path and begin to shake. He slides out of the tree silently beside her, and says, “Yo, Rikona-sensei.”
She gasps, startled. “Hatake—”
“Where’s Iruka?”
She points to the cabin behind her. “Please, I didn’t know. He lied to me.”
“Hmm?”
“He told me you were bad for him. He told me that he missed Iruka-sensei. He cried when I told him about Sato.” Rikona bites her lip. “How did he fake that? Did he fake that?”
“I’ll deal with you later.”
“I’ll turn myself in.”
“That’s not what I meant,” Kakashi says. He glares at her, exposing the sharingan for full threat. “If he’s hurt, you get hurt.”
~
“We should go to Water Country,” Mizuki sighs, slipping his dick back into Iruka’s mouth. “They’ve got good clubs out there. I could make a lot of coin selling the use of your throat.”
Iruka’s so far gone, so far down, he doesn’t even react.
“And with the ocean and all, your vomiting won’t be so off-putting each night.”
The door breaks open and a pack of mutts crash through the windows around him. Mizuki pulls out of Iruka’s mouth, reaches in Iruka’s weapon pouch beside him for a kunai. He may not have the ability to mold chakra anymore, but that doesn’t change how well a blade can slice through the delicate life beating in a person’s neck. Mizuki pulls Iruka to his lap and has him cover his body, pressing the kunai under his jaw.
“I wouldn’t,” he warns. Hatake stalks into view, coming around the couch. “I promise, I’ll kill him faster than you or your mutts can get to me.”
One hand on the kunai, the other around Iruka’s waist. He doesn’t even need to keep a hand in his hair now. Iruka’s his.
He put in the time.
He put in the effort.
He built Iruka.
He sneers at Hatake. “You and your mutts can leave.”
“Not without him.”
“Iruka? Tell Hatake to leave.”
“Please leave, Hatake-san.”
Oh, that was good. Like he was slapped, Hatake flinches; just barely, but Mizuki catches it. That was nice. Worth a reward.
“Good boy, baby,” Mizuki purrs. He bites Iruka’s shoulder, relishing the soft whimper.
~
He’s under. He’s so far under and Kakashi has to be careful or he won’t get Iruka back.
This wasn’t a warning Rikona gave him; that came from Tomi-sensei a few weeks back, when she heard about one of the dissociation episodes he’d experienced during the Sato incident. He can’t trust anything Rikona has ever told him now, but Tomi-sensei never had a hand in Iruka’s care and so is objective.
He motions for the pack to stand down.
“Actually, I changed my mind,” Mizuki says. “Don’t leave. Just stay still.”
He takes the kunai away from Iruka’s neck and aims it at Kakashi.
He won’t hit him; Kakashi’s faster than anything he can throw. This is perfect. This is his chance.
He just has to be careful.
Iruka could still not come back if he’s not careful.
~
The bite of a blade against his neck is odd, but familiar. The slosh of come in his stomach is uncomfortable, but familiar. The taste of musk and come on his tongue is gross, but familiar.
Mizuki’s rumble against his back is nice and familiar.
Slipping into following Mizuki’s orders is simple. It’s easy.
The pain of his hair being pulled. The claustrophobic sensation of being boxed in as Mizuki hovers over him. Their bodies pressed together. His dick—pain—being stroked alongside Mizuki’s own length. It’s all familiar.
Falling is easy.
He can’t. He can’t handle being there anymore.
And then—
“Don’t move. Just stay still.”
The blade leaves his neck, and Iruka tracks it as Mizuki levels it at—
At—
Kakashi—
“Just sleep, dearest.”
“Please, Iruka, I wanna touch you please.”
“I like asking.”
“Please kiss me.”
“Hello, Love.”
“What do you need?”
“I will always come for you.”
“I will be wherever you want me to be.”
“Hello, Love.”
“Can I use the g-word tonight?”
“Hello, Love.”
“Hello, Love.”
“Hello, Love.”
And Iruka wakes up.
He reaches for the kunai out in front of him, disarms Mizuki and stands up out of his lap. He fights the vertigo, fights the chills chasing each other down his back and his arms.
He remembers the day he came home to Mizuki and Naruto, and how he put two kunai in him before kicking him out. He remembers the rage, seeing Naruto pull away from Mizuki like hot coals, remembers sending Naruto to hide in his own room because they had been in Naruto’s room; there was still a small blood stain on the floor of that apartment when he left, one he couldn’t clean up in time.
Mizuki can fuck with him all he’d like.
But he can’t fuck with Iruka’s family.
And maybe Mizuki couldn’t hit Kakashi with a kunai if he were point-blank. Maybe a thousand kunai couldn’t hit Kakashi if Mizuki were the one throwing them. It doesn’t matter.
Iruka’s been teaching Anatomy of a Kill and running disarming practicals for years. They can call him soft, and say his humanity is a weakness or a strength. He preaches the Will of Fire and he burns with it; he will protect that which is precious to him.
Naruto.
His own sanity.
Kakashi.
Whether or not it needs protecting, Iruka will be the shield.
He plunges the kunai into Mizuki’s chest, drags it through heart and liver, snapping ribs and muscle tissue as he goes, and settles the blade in Mizuki’s intestines. He stands over Mizuki as the life leaves his chest, gushing red and bloodying Iruka’s hands and clothes.
Mizuki’s eyes are dark with betrayal.
He whispers, “I will always own you.”
And then… and then he’s gone.
And Iruka breathes.
Gods.
I’m… I’m free.

«Sakura-chaaaan!»
Naruto’s annoying voice just outside her apartment door woke her up.
Turning around a little bit she glanced at the alarm clock that she kept on the bedside table next to her bed: it was only 7 o’clock in the morning and Sakura felt inside her the irrepressible desire to kill her friend.
For a moment she contemplated the idea of not getting up and waiting for Naruto to go away and leave her alone. Then she remembered who she was talking about and with a grunt came out from under the sheets.
Naruto was on the landing, his one arm raised to knock on the door for the umpteenth time.
«Oh, Sakura-chan, I was afraid you weren’t at home».
«If so why did you keep knocking and screaming early in the morning, you giant idiot».
«Uuh. Sakura-chan, don’t be so hard on me», he whimpered, pouting. «I felt alone at home… And my arm hurts».
The young woman sighed and stepped aside, inviting her friend to come in with a gesture of her head, then made him sit on her slightly battered sofa and placed a hand on the stump of his right arm infusing it with her healing chakra to relieve the pain. At the same time Sakura analysed the scar to make sure there were no active infections. Fortunately, everything was as it should be so the young woman sensed that Naruto had still abused his limb during training and gave him a good earful reminding him for what was probably the millionth time the indications they had given him to obtain the best chances that Hashirama-sama’s cells would take root when the prosthetic arm would be ready.
«Hey Sakura-chan, why do you still live in a chūnin apartment if you’re a jōnin?» her friend suddenly asked.
«Mmm». In fact, Tsunade-sama had offered her a new accommodation when Sakura was formally promoted to jōnin but she hadn’t thought about it too much and she had refused. «Maybe because this was the first home I could truly call my own».
«Uhh? What are you sayin’, you lived with your parents before you moved here».
«Mmm mmm».
In fact, come to think of it, exactly three years had passed since that day…
-------------------------------
Tuesday, 28th February 1677
Sakura had always hated ultimatums.
That’s why she found herself wandering the streets of Konoha as if she no longer had a home. Because in fact Sakura no longer had a home.
She thought she had finally found her way, her place in the ninja world: she excelled in the medical arts thanks to the guidance of Tsunade-shishō, she had reached an excellent level in taijutsu thanks also to the help of Rock Lee, she felt useful and necessary in the hospital where she helped both shinobi and civilians too. She felt she was getting closer and closer to her goal: to bring Sasuke home. And she were happy.
Yet there she was, walking like a zombie in the rain. She sometimes hated her parents; they had never supported her desire to become a kunoichi and in fact they had often even done what they could to get in her way. She remembered as if it were yesterday how much they had fought to not sign the forms for the admission to the Academy. In those days at the Haruno compound there had been screams, tears and slamming doors. Kizashi and Mebuki had believed they could discourage her with their denials and their constant postponement; it was evident that they did not know her at all.
Some times she could still hear their words in her ears. “You are still too young”, they told her, “you will fail and then you will come and cry to us”; or, when they tried to change her mind using logic, they used arguments like “we are not ninja, the Harunos never were. Trying to be what you are not will only make you feel worse”. Sometimes instead they decided to use the sense of guilt: “and if something happened to you what would become of us? Don’t you think about your poor parents? We didn’t educate you to be so selfish”. But in the end she had won and enrolled in the Academy even if almost a year late. She had hoped that her parents would accept her choice but that had not happened. Whenever she found herself having some difficulty in an exercise, or a test didn’t go more than perfect, her father looked at her with disappointment and with an expression on his face that said he expected her to fail while her mother pointed out that they had told her that this was not her way, that she had to live as a civilian like they did. During that time Sakura had fallen asleep crying many times.
Years had passed and she thought that by now her parents had hurt her in every possible way. She was wrong; how wrong she was.
Her father had told her at dinner that evening that they would be moving to Hana no Kuni soon and that she would go with them.
Sakura had vehemently protested telling them that in Konoha she had a life, friends, a career and that she didn’t want to leave everything to move to the other side of the world. “You’re a Haruno”, her father had yelled as he slammed his fist on the table, “and it’s time for you to act like one. You will come with us, you will forget all this nonsense and you will get married with the nephew of the Daimyō! Everything has already been decided”.
So Sakura had ran out and slammed the door, ignoring the fact that it was pouring with rain outside and that her light civilian clothes were not suitable for a walk in the rain.
It was now more than an hour and Sakura knew she had to go home and talk to her parents, reason with them and make them understand that she really couldn’t leave the Village, even if they were asking her, and sure as hell she had no intention of accepting an arranged marriage. Because inside her she knew she would slowly wither away if she gave up kunoichi’s career. Yet, even knowing this, even the idea of setting foot in that house again made her nauseous and no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t find within herself the resolve to go back there.
Eventually in her wandering she found herself at the edge of the forest where a large black tombstone stood proud in the rain. Sakura knew that place well and she knew what that stone represented and she was not too surprised to notice that a tall and slightly curved figure stood in front of it.
«Kakashi-sensei», she greeted him as she slowly approached the cenotaph.
«Hey, Sakura-chan, we haven’t seen each other for a while», he greeted her with a small smile, which can only be guessed from the fold of the one visible eye.
In fact, he was right. After Naruto had left with Jiraiya-sama for his training, all that was left in Konoha of the Team 7 were Kakashi-sensei and herself, who had begun to educate herself under Tsunade-sama’s guidance, so their team had been temporarily dissolved. Sakura knew that Kakashi was constantly engaged in A-rank or even S-rank missions and it didn’t surprise her at all: after all, her ex sensei was probably the most powerful jōnin in the Village and since Suna and Oto had launched the attack that had led to the death of the Sandaime and many other brave shinobi, those who remained were forced to face one mission after another, both to prove that despite everything Konoha was still strong, and to bring some money into the coffers of the Village. Kakashi in particular, perhaps also because of his fame, was tremendously in demand and in the last year and a half he had spent more time on mission than inside the walls. In fact, Sakura knew that Tsunade had given him a three-week rest period after he returned home for the umpteenth time with the chakra reserve at a minimum for the abuse of his sharingan.
(Sakura had once witnessed one of their squabbles because Tsunade had wanted to teach her how to heal people with exhausted chakra. It had been both fun and embarrassing to see her ex-sensei being scolded and treated as if he were a five-year-old kid).
«How is your enforced rest going?»
«Maa, maa, I feel like they’re holding me in a glass dome. I think I have reread Icha Icha Paradise at least a dozen times», the man complained, shrugging and pulling out the orange book long enough to show it to her before putting it back away from the rain.
«Honestly, sensei, I really don’t know what you see in those books. They are not even anatomically correct».
«You say so, Sakura-chan».
«No, the human body says so».
«I will not discuss about Icha Icha with you… And about the fact that you have read a book forbidden to minors under eighteen», he teased her, the light tone of one trying to pull a smile out of someone. «What would your parents say if they knew?»
Ouch. This hurt.
Instantly Sakura felt that weight that she had forgotten during the last minutes of conversation with her sensei return to her heart. Maybe Kakashi noticed her eyes darken as he turned to her just enough to look her straight in the face. The young woman could not hold up that dark eye that scrutinized her and lowered her face.
«Sakura, why are you here in the rain?» She didn’t answer, her throat tightened in a vice. She hated it when she felt this way and someone was nice to her because she felt like she could explode at any moment. The fact that it was Kakashi was even worse. «Sakura». This time Kakashi’s tone was harsher, the tone of voice that he would have used on a mission to get his companions to obey and Sakura found herself unwittingly straightening her back and getting to attention. «Look at me». She obeyed as if she couldn’t do anything else but she felt her throat tighten in a knot. «What happened? Has someone hurt you?»
She couldn’t help but shake her head. She wouldn’t cry, she absolutely wouldn’t cry. She was a kunoichi from Konoha, she was an adult, and she wouldn’t cry just because her parents were selfish.
«Did something happen to your parents?» Kakashi-sensei insisted and Sakura was surprised when she felt one of his hands resting on her shoulder, a reassuring anchor in that storm of emotions. «Come on, let’s go. I’ll take you home».
Sakura wanted to protest but lowered her head and followed him out of the field into the streets of Konoha. She didn’t even look where they were going, her eyes fixed on the jōnin’s feet, blindly trusting that he wouldn’t allow her to crash anywhere. Inside her she was already ready for the second part of that skirmish and she was trying to harden her heart just enough to allow her not to give in under the emotional blackmail of her family. But she actually didn’t know how she could do it. After all, she was not yet fifteen, and although genin far younger than her had been living alone from years, she was not an orphan and as an only child she was expected to follow the wishes of her parents.
Half an hour later Kakashi stopped and in a cheerful tone said: «Here we are».
Sakura looked ahead and realized that they were not in front of her parents’ garden but the door she had in front of her was the somewhat ruined one of Tsunade-shishō’s apartment.
«Oh».
She wanted to say something, ask Kakashi-sensei why he brought her there and not the house where she was born and raised, but he was already knocking on the door and a few seconds later it opened on Shizune.
«Yo», Kakashi greeted her, raising a hand. «I found a lost kitten in the rain and I thought it was yours».
«Sakura! What have you done? You’re completely soaked», her senpai scolded her before grabbing her wrist and dragging her into the house. «Hurry in Kakashi or you’ll let all the heat go out».
The girl did not turn to check but she heard the door close and light footsteps following them along the narrow and dark corridor, a sign that in fact Kakashi-sensei had obeyed the order.
The Hokage’s apartment was pretty damn small, certainly more than one would expect from the most important person in Konoha. It was completely unusual and against tradition and the Elders and the Council had tried to force Tsunade to move to the Senju neighbourhood or at least to accept one of the countless houses that had been offered to her and which, they said, were more appropriate to her role. Naturally, the Godaime had firmly refused, asserting that her small, damp and bare apartment was more than enough for her and Shizune, considering that she spent most of her life in her office at the palace.
Tsunade was sitting on the sofa in the living room, a small ceramic glass in her hand and an open bottle of sake on the low coffee table. In the other hand she was holding a large tome of medicine but when she saw them enter the room she closed the book and her blond eyebrows arch, creating a wrinkle between them.
«What’s the matter with you girl? You’re socked to the bone».
Sakura would have liked to reassure her and say that everything was fine, that there was nothing to worry about, lying and claiming that she had simply forgotten her umbrella on leaving the house. But maybe it was Shizune’s warm hand on her back, or the feeling of Kakashi’s eye on the back of her neck because Sakura couldn’t find the strength to lie.
«My parents have decided to move to Hana no Kuni next month and they want me to go with them», she let out in one breath, her voice low but calmer than she expected.
Her revelation was greeted by a moment of stunned silence, then Shizune blurted out: «What the hell does that mean?»
Sakura blinked like an old owl, amazed, because this was probably the first time she’d heard her senpai swear.
«They said I have to leave my life as a kunoichi and start acting like a Haruno», she continued in that cold and detached tone, as if explaining which procedure she would choose to undergo a certain operation on a patient. «They said it’s time I got to know the activities of the clan and bring honour to the family by finding a husband who can broaden the circle of our acquaintances».
As she spoke, Sakura couldn’t look her shishō in the eyes. As she repeated the words of her parents she felt her nausea and anger grow within her; how was it possible that they expected this from her? How was it possible that they did not understand her feelings in the least even though they were her parents, blood of her blood?
Sakura felt her eyes sting but never, never would she cry, not for that.
«Very well, let them go where the hell they like», Tsunade suddenly snapped, forcing her to finally raise her eyes. Her shishō was gripping the arm of the sofa so tightly that cracks were already starting to form in the wood and for a moment Sakura felt her heart break because she really hoped she would protest and fight to get her parents to stay. But after all, they were her blood family and Sakura was nothing more than an apprentice to her, so why should she protest? «But you won’t move from here», the Sannin added suddenly, the tone of her voice angry, while the wood gave up under her fingers. It was evident from her livid face that what she was about to say was the word of the Hokage and that she would not take no for an answer. «I didn’t waste the last year of my life teaching you everything I know to allow two ordinary people to drag you to the other side of the world to marry you to some preppy rich idiot».
«Tsunade-sama…»
«Don’t “Tsunade-sama” and “Tsunade-sama” me, Shizune», growled the Hokage. «I’m tired of those two. Not once did they give her the support she deserved so I don’t see why she should support them now».
Sakura would have lied if she said she didn’t fully agree with the woman, and hearing those words come out of her mouth took away some of the weight that oppressed her chest.
«And tonight you’re going to sleep here», Tsunade added. «In the morning I will take you to them and communicate my decision to Kizashi and Mebuki».
«Shishō, I can’t…» she tried to protest. Because, as touched as she was by Godaime’s feelings, the truth was that her sense of duty prevented her from considering that solution. And she knew that leveraging her good heart would do no good, not while she was in such an altered state, so she tried to use some logic even though all she wanted was to accept the invitation, lie down on the sofa and sleep until the following morning. «I don’t have my clothes or uniform or something to sleep with me…»
«Kakashi…»
«I’ll drop by and get what you need, Sakura-chan, don’t worry about that», came the prompt reply of her ex sensei who in a flurry of leaves disappeared from the living room, evidently headed for her bedroom in her house.
«You are my apprentice, Sakura», Tsunade continued, as if she had not just silently asked one of her jōnin to break through a window into the home of a member of one of the most powerful civilian families not only in Tsuchi but also in other Countries of the continent, including the Land of Fire. «Before being a Haruno you are my apprentice and I don’t intend to let you go like this». Suddenly the expression on her face softened and, after getting up and going to meet her, she placed her hand on her cheek with more tenderness than she had ever seen. «Don’t worry, little girl, I won’t let anyone take you away without your consent. This I can swear to you ».
Sakura nodded and allowed herself to lean on that rough hand as Shizune approached and placed a hand on her back. And for the first time since she was just a little girl dreaming of becoming a kunoichi, Sakura felt like she really had a family.

Things we deserved to get from the Naruto manga and anime that we never got -
• JONIN NARUTO -
We followed him around as the lovable Genin knucklehead. Now it goes without saying that him being a Jonin is just a rank and honestly doesnt mean much. Rescuing Gaara, going after Kakuzo, Mount Miyaboku were all A & S-rank missions.
But I would liked to have seen him doing missions post war in a slightly more mature yet typically knuckleheaded manner instead of the passing phrase he made tonShikamaru about being too busy doing missions for the next 6 months.
We grew up with Naruto and now that he's older and stronger we dont get to see him in action.
• A Happily Married Kakashi & Shizune-
Hatake Kakashi has led a deeply traumatic life. His mother died when he was very young, his father committed suicide when he was 6 causing him to distance himself from everyone around him. The first person he opened up to and formed a bond with died moments later protecting him, the girl he deeply cared for and probably harbored feelings for which he was too afraid to confront died at his hands as he desperately tried to protect her, a year later his sensei died protecting the village. When he became a sensei to Team 7 he felt he was on a path to finding inner peace by ensuring these children avoid his traumas but his prized pupil went rogue shattering that hope. After all this I’d hoped he would’ve finally found a happy ending.
Why Shizune? Well I considered him and Kurenai getting together and him helping raise Mirai but Shizune has always felt like the only Kunoichi in Konoha who has her shit together. She is perfectly at peace with where she is in life. She is incredibly mature and level headed as she helps run the village with Tsunade. Someone who is at peace with herself and her aspirations is the perfect anchor for a man with a whirpool of trauma brewing in him.
Alas it seems like the showrunners have no intention of a romantic arc for Kakashi and the Hatake name will die with Kakashi.
• The Uzumaki Clan
Within a span of 3 months Naruto meets 3 Uzumaki clan members. Nagato, Karin and his own mother. While speaking with Kushina he finds out about the dark fate of the Uzumaki clan. How they were blessed with unimaginably high chakra reserves and were gifted in Sealing Jutsus, longevity and how it led to them being targeted by those who feared them leading to their village being wiped out and scattered across the shinobi world.
Instead of turning the Naruto saga into the Uchiha Chronicles Id have preferred a deep dive into the Uzumaki clan. Maybe even have a Sasuke-like venegeful figure who wants Konoha to suffer because they failed to provide aid to the village they called their strong allies in their greatest hour of need.
Like Sasuke this villain would’ve witnessed his fellow clansmen cut down, unlike Sasuke however he wouldn’t have had the likes of Naruto, Itachi or Kakashi to anchor him in the light leaving room for redemption.
This could have been the one villain that was so far gone in his pain and hatred that no amount of 'talk no jutsu' could have changed his mind and would've pushed Naruto to the very brink until he finally had to choose between killing his clansman or protecting his village.
Naruto would make the ultimate sacrifice for Konoha and this would all the more set his resolve to pulling Sasuke back from the darkness or dying with him.
An Uzumaki villain gifted in Fuijutsu and the use of the Uzumaki Kekkei Genkai, the Adamantine Chains along with massive chakra reserves would be the perfect power scaled villain for Post Pain Arc Naruto.
Instead we got Uchiha chronicles where everyone did whatever the fuck they thought of doing and chakra limits were all but history. This one really disappointed me. Which brings me to my next disappointment.
• Naruto Killing a Villain
Now I know it seems like an odd hang up. Naruto? Kill? But he is so fixated on redemption. That is exactly why I wanted this to happen. The series has gone out of its way to make sure Naruto hasn’t killed a character. The worst of it was against Kakuzu. The kind of attack unleashed upon Kakuzu SHOULD by all means have killed him. Yet somehow he was left in a ‘dying state’ and Kakashi was the one who did the deed.
Naruto being forced to kill a villain as a last resort and making a choice between saving someone dear to him or tainting his hands with blood was the ultimate moral conundrum for a shinobi whose biggest goal was rescuing his best friend from the dark. It would take him back to Itachi’s words where he asked Naruto what he would if Sasuke decided to destroy the village.
Instead we saw Rasen Shuriken and Rasengan getting scaled down to a point where they always injure and opponent but not kill him. For an S-rank jutsu, Rasen Shuriken happens to be quite lenient.
• Neji beoming the head of the Hyuuga Clan
This pisses me off the most. Neji was supposed to be to the Hyuuga was Naruto was to Konoha. I always expected Neji to overcome all the obstacles and get recognized by Hiashin who would then redeem himself and disband the branch system once and for all. Hiashin as a character was never redeemed. Here was a man who let his brother get executed to avoid punishment (albeit he was against it but it did happen), constantly abused his kind daughter and belittled her for being too soft and put her down to a point her personality was underdeveloped and she had deep seethed confidence issues.
Disbanding the branch system and making Neji the leader would redeem him in the eyes of the readers/ viewers and would clean up the Hyuuga clan.
Instead Neji was scrapped aside to give Naruto and Hinata a bonding moment. They had a bonding moment, it was when she almost died saving his life. Neji didn’t have to die for them to get together ffs. What a wasted potential.
• NaruSaku
Now I’m not a fanatic shipper. In fact when I read and watched the original series I absolutely HATED Sakura. My hatred for her reached it’s peak during the Zabuza arc when Naruto ran at the S-rank villain, got kicked away and got up to show he went in for his forehead protector. “What do you think you’re doing Naruto? Even Sasuke-kun wasn’t a match for him.” I just wanted Naruto to turn around and tell her to stfu in that moment. As the series approached the time skip I was well and truly content with NaruHina.
But Shippuden changed things. The hints towards Sakura’s changed feelings were sprinkled all over the series. One moment that stands out for me was the Clone Training arc where Sai tests her by abusing Naruto and she goes on a rage rant about how great he is. Let’s not forget that in her darkest hour, as she saw a ruined and destroyed village the only person she thought of and cried out to was Naruto. Not because she felt he could save the village (she was as shocked as Shikamaru as she found out he was facing pain alone) but because when things when bad for her the only person who she felt comfort around was indeed Naruto and that is indisputable.
She goes as far as ruining her friendship with Naruto, a bond she truly cherished as it was all she had left after Sasuke abandoned the village, and confessed her feelings to manipulate him. Yes manipulative, scheming and downright a bitch of a thing to do. But it was all she could think of to make Naruto stop chasing after Sasuke. She, more than anyone wanted to see Naruto become a Hokage and realize his dreams and dying while rescuing Sasuke was a risk she couldn’t take and she decided she’d have him hate her than die. Wrong yes. But oddly noble.
This combined with all the blatant attempts to establish her being like Kushina and Kushina saying she wants Naruto to find someone like her changed my mind from NaruHina. I still adore Hinata. She is a wonderful character. But organic plot progression is far more important to me than my ships being canon.
A Naruto-Sakura family would’ve been incredibly entertaining and the dynamics would be perfect. We’d see a Minato-Kushina couple on screen for the next series. Which brings me to my next disappointment.
•HinaShino
I don’t know if that’s the official name for the pairing but I always felt these 2 would make a great couple. They are both people of a few words and are both incredibly intuitive and understanding individuals. Shino would accept Hinata for who she was and vice versa. Being with someone who was happy with the person they were would go miles in helping them come out of their shells.
Altho this isn’t a massive disappointment for me. I’m happy that Hinata ended up with Naruto. But like I said organic plot progression matters to me and if Naruto ended up with Sakura I’d prefer Hinata to end up with Shino.
•Hiraishin No Jutsu
Sadly as the series progressed Naruto had become so OP that not letting him master his father’s improved version of Tobirama’s jutsu was a great decision. It would’ve just made him senselessly OP.
However instead of giving him all those God Tier power ups which he just gains in single training sessions I’d have preferred him working hard to master the Hirashin. Instead of sending him off to an island and treating him like a fucking idiot and asking him to survey animals I’d have preferred if Tsunade gave him an impossible task.
“You can’t fight in the battle. But I will only allow it if you can master your father’s jutsu.”
It was a period of 6 months between Danzo’s death and the start of the shinobi war. Ample time to show him training hard to learn a jutsu that for once required him to study. Hiraishin deals not just in physical acts of speed but also mastering seals. Seeing his friends go off to fight in the war as he was left behind would have only added to his frustration and motivated him more.
Showing Naruto training hard like they showed him training for Rasen Shuriken would’ve only made us cheer all the more harder when he’d make a badass entry on the battle field as Tobi came close to killing Kakashi and a three pronged Kunai swished between the two, an orange flash appeared and Naruto kicked Tobi away.
Sadly this was swapped for Pokemon evolutions where arc after arc Naruto levels up just like that. The show’s entire premise was based on hard work and guts.
Sasuke was the genius who gained his power through natural ability. Sure he trained hard but his strength came to him with ease. Naruto had to slog. He manged to make the Rasengan after nearly 15 episodes of training and even then he had to get stabbed to be able to use it. It wasn’t until another 10 episodes that he properly used it. His training for the Rasenshuriken took an entire season to yield results and even then he didn’t learn to throw it until he trained for another 3 seasons till the Pain arc.
Post pain all this is tossed aside. He sits at the waterfall twice and beats the darkness. He sits in the room once and tames Kurama. Later Kakashi and Guy are in trouble, he has an inner dialogue with Kurama and suddenly he mastered the two man team with no prior training. Rikkodu Sennin touches him once and suddenly he’s learnt how to grow eyes, stop death and fly just like that.
The series stopped being the Naruto series we grew up with post Danzo and it saddens me.
• Naruto Sensei -
And finally my last and greatest disappointment of all. Not seeing Naruto as a sensei. We’ve seen glimpses of his nurturing side in his interactions with Konohamaru but I’d have loved to have seen 40-50 episodes of him leading his own squad of genins. A perfect combination of Kakashi and Guy as he’d wow them with his brilliance and equally embarrass them in day to day interactions with his goofy tomfoolery. His genins would be in awe of him. Naruto Sensei - the hero of the war.
His students could have an arrogant son/daughter of a feudal lord who insisted he be trained by the war hero, Naruto and Kakashi had to cave in for diplomatic reasons. Naruto refuses to take anyone who doesn’t work hard to get where they are but after the bell test sees potential in the child. A child with no ninja background. His parents were farmers outside of Konoha who were very poor. His sole aim is to be a ninja so strong that he’s always assigned big missions that will help him ease his family’s financial burdens. A genin from the Inuzuka clan (or any other clan, maybe even Hanabi if the show wanted to push more Naruto-Hinata interactions) who thinks he’s better than the other 2 because of his family background but is taught humility by Naruto.
Sadly another development in Naruto’s life we were denied.
Well that’s my rant essay. I know a lot of people won’t agree with what I had to say but I wanted to get it off my best anyway. Why?
Because I wanted to dattebayo!

Like your fics! Question i came for joker and wonder why sakura? i dont get the buzz for her. shes a obsessed sasuke fangirl so she wouldnt chose joker of him right? and i watched ns and she's not at all that. idt he would go for her either. there's harley that fits better. please dont take this offensively im just curious
This has been sitting in my ask box for a bit (I’m lazy... sorry!) and wasn’t sure how to answer it. So, first... Thank you for liking my stories! Second... @radita328 reminded me of all the reasons I like Sakura so much and chose her as my lead female character in all my stories. I try not to take anything offensively and have been asked this multiple times since I started writing for this ship.
This might be a good way to explain it... And if I get questions like this again (which I undoubtedly will), it’s already been thoroughly answered.
Sakura was quite insecure as a child, and the other brats often bullied her. For a while, she silently endured it and tried to ignore the comments on her appearance. It wasn’t until her friendship with Ino and crush on Sasuke that she really started to bloom and find her confidence. Sometimes we need an outside source to see ourselves in a different light or find what’s inside. I’ve debated whether it’s okay for a person to try improving for themselves or someone else. To me, it doesn’t matter. The results and finding that inner-strength is important. Sometimes it takes an outside influence or another perspective to bring out the best version of a person, and that’s the case with Sakura and myself. Those with a self-deprecating mindset rarely see what others do.
Sakura’s infatuation with Sasuke temporarily ruined her relationship with Ino (we all make mistakes) and she became obsessed with perfecting her appearance based on rumors of what girls think he likes. Extreme dieting (even at the expense of her training), growing her hair out, fussing with everything. This is something many do in hopes of attracting their crush, especially teenage girls. During the Chunin Exams, she realized that spending so much time on her looks instead of training was a waste The boy she wanted to impress couldn’t care less about it and she put her teammates in danger by not focusing on what’s important. This arc shows the beginning of her character development. To save Naruto and Sasuke, she used her body as a shield and cut off her ‘beloved’ hair. After being beaten to a pulp, she still refused to give up, knowing it might end in death.
Later on, Team 7 is split up as her teammates are taken to be trained, leaving her behind. Kakashi took Sasuke and Jiraiya with Naruto. Her own sensei and everyone else walked away, despite being in charge of helping her improve. Sakura took it on herself to go up to one of the Legendary Sannin and most feared woman to ask for training. She spent years studying, being pummeled by Tsunade, and honing her skill-set to the point of eventually surpassing her shishou, which is not an easy feat. The Strength of a Hundred Seal that took her three years of storing up chakra to create is a Jutsu very few are able to complete.
Sakura went from a small girl that was extremely self-conscious, to a top kunoichi within a few years. People doubted, overlooked, and underestimated her from the beginning, using gender and appearance as an excuse. She smashed through all those barriers (literally). People often despise her for the loyalty she’s shown to Sasuke, who doesn’t deserve it—whatsoever—and blame everything going wrong on her. There are so many instances that plenty of characters (especially in the war) would’ve died without her power, it’s not even funny, yet those facts get tossed aside carelessly. She’s had amazing character development, overcame diversity and bullying, improved herself as a person, and became one of the strongest shinobi through sheer determination.
As a woman who’s been teased for her appearance and underestimated, I resonate with her the most. Being half-Asian in a predominately white area as a teenager when my family moved came with its own trials and tribulations. Seeing a minority character grow and develop into a strong woman is very inspiring and why I chose her. I don’t blame Sakura for what the male creator of the series decided to do with her after building up so much potential.
Canonically, Joker and Sakura would probably kill each other, but that’s one of the points that I enjoy. He thinks everyone’s beneath him and has zero empathy, while she has an enormous heart and tries to improve to feel worthy of standing beside her comrades. They’re very different, but their strange appearance, penchant for violence (in various forms), and fanatical drive towards their goals is where they meet halfway. I’m a fan of the whole ‘enemies to lovers’ and ‘bad guy/small woman’ trope. Canon relationships are irrelevant in AU’s and fiction, in general. That’s the entire point of fanfiction, crack pairings and crossovers.
Harley Quinn makes appearances throughout most of my stories, but we’ve all seen how her relationship with Joker plays out. It revolves around abuse, manipulation, and abandonment. Not that my ship doesn’t at all, I’m just saying... They’re unhealthy relationship goals if that’s what you’re looking for. Personally, I like Harley better with Poison Ivy compared to J. Pam has been a big part of the healing process after Harley had enough of his shit. Saying she fits better includes keeping a woman in a toxic environment where she’s never respected or appreciated and constantly hurt without a single care.
I like to think that J has a good-eye for talent and would see that Sakura is brimming with it, even if it’s to use her as a weapon. He’s intelligent, cunning, resourceful, with ingenuity in spades. The freedom from the restraints that society puts on everyone that comes with J is very liberating, and I enjoy putting Sakura in that kind of atmosphere where she has no limits holding her back, like the Narutoverse does. Her appearance, race, gender... None of that matters in Gotham where it’s all about survival and playing the game. Him pushing Sakura beyond her limits and rattling the cage is what I’m totally living for.
Thanks for the ask and hopefully my incessant rambling answers this question now and moving forward. I get it often and not really sure why, considering all the crack pairings I’ve seen over the years, especially with Sakura.
