Knowing that Phoenix is a big figure legally, I always liked to imagine the situation where Dhurke, pre-SoJ, got in contact with him to discuss very serious and professional legal matters.
I also imagine that, because Dhurke doesn't want to leave ANY sort of paper trail or anything leading to Apollo, he just never looked him up. And happened to never see anything about him. idk, he's just conveniently ignorant in this situation.
And this, then, culminates in the situation where Apollo arrives for work, only to be told by Trucy that "Daddy is talking to a real important person in his office!" and to not interrupt, which... whatever, that's a normal situation, Apollo thinks. Goes off to his own office or desk or whatever. Only to be called in by Wright because he wants to introduce his junior partners to this important guy.
Apollo walks in.
stops. locks eyes with Dhurke.
Apollo walks out.

there's never going to be a game made about apollo's work in khura'in but if there WAS
nahyuta: hey so we're not facing off in court anymore
apollo: huh, why not?
nahyuta: turns out like 70% of the prosecutors were corrupt so we're kind of short-staffed, and i have other duties too
apollo: i mean yeah, makes sense. you work too hard as it is. who am i facing instead though
nahyuta, pointedly ignoring apollo's remark: a prosecutor i met during my travels, who graciously agreed to serve in khura'in during this transition. i was impressed by her work ethic and her investigative skills.
apollo, getting a bad feeling: okay...
next day, court's in session, apollo looks at who's behind the prosecutor's bench.
it's franziska von karma.

i'm not often fond of the takes people who dislike Nahyuta have on his character (though i can certainly agree his writing is not Great. like objectively) but there was this one Nahyuta disliker on Reddit who was fuckin cookin when they said that Nahyuta should've been nicer/less cutthroat in the US trial segments.
(from u/Black_Griffin23)
i actually think that's a brilliant idea. he doesn't have to be /nice/, he can still be a dick, but i think it's interesting to have him be much less aggressive about "sins" and hating defense lawyers n stuff in the US, because it would add to the shock value of how cruel Khura'in is when you see him again in 6-3 and he's so fucking awful, way worse than he ever was in the first case you meet him, because that's what's expected of him out here. it would also be a decent way to show that things aren't quite what they seem with him, which you don't really get beyond some very basic "he and Apollo have some sort of background together" until 6-5.
also hot take i actually think 6-2 and 6-4 should switch places in the story. i know it'd be kinda rough to have Apollo only see Nahyuta again right before Turnabout Revolution but i also think it'd work with some tweaks. Nahyuta maybe expressing disappointment that Athena Cykes is the one defending Bucky in the new "6-2" because he was expecting someone else. you see the photo of Apollo and Nahyuta in 6-3 and it's like. ah. why is Apollo here? what's their history...? is this who Nahyuta was hoping to see? and then they FINALLY meet in the new "6-4", Apollo confronts Nahyuta at the end like he does in Magical Turnabout and Nahyuta expresses some discomfort, but is still coldly hostile otherwise, but it's clear he's hiding how he really feels. he can still basically tell Apollo to fuck off, but in a more "let it be, there's nothing either of us can do" type way.
sort of like how Edgeworth tells Phoenix to leave him tf alone after... what is it, 1-3? because he's making Edgeworth question a lot of his beliefs and it's becoming uncomfortable and unbearable. you could do that with Nahyuta since he's supposed to be a new take on Edgeworth anyways.
Nahyuta takes his time in international cases to properly hone his skills, but re-encountering Apollo (and dealing with Athena) starts to show him just how fucked his job in Khura'in really is, just how far he's strayed from the original vision, and now he's struggling to keep the guilt at bay. Apollo brings up all these old and unpleasant feelings he's kept hiding, and it's starting to unravel him bit by bit. them, you see him really struggle in 6-5 because of Dhurke, and it all unravels more, making the story and character development flow a bit better.
idk, i just think this would work a bit better and make his redemption at the end feel less last minute.
#psy's no punctuation posts#aa tag#headcanons tag#ace attorney#nahyuta sahdmadhi#i love Nahyuta and i do think he's a great character but i'll also openly state that they kinda fucked his writing up KRKF#his arc happens WAY too late. like his arc is much more fulfilling on a second playthrough after you have all the details#and tbh that's a sign they didn't do a good job with conveying what's supposed to be happening with his character#i love Nahyuta tho. but it's still nice to imagine a world where he had more developed writing. like if he's a great character already#with messy writing... he could be even more amazing with better writing!!#so yeah. this person had a great idea and i gotta give it to em

AA characters ranked based on whether I think I can beat them in a fight
Phoenix: Absolutely not. I don’t think he can or would throw a punch back, but his sheer endurance and invulnerability means that I can never achieve true victory. I’m not convinced he has a hitbox.
Apollo: He would actually fight back, which I can appreciate— however his punch in 4-1 didn’t manage to faze Phoenix whatsoever so I think I can endure long enough to verbally attack his insecurities until he gives up. Get ready for a verbal smack down, Justice, I am not afraid to make fun of your father issues.
Athena: I would get my ass handed to me in three seconds and we both know this, so I personally would just skip the fight and buy her a smoothie or something. No hurt feelings
Maya:
Pearl: I can and will throw hands with a nine-year old to make myself feel better about losing a fight to multiple attorneys. Whether or not it’s fair I count this as a win.
Trucy: She can throw knives I don’t fuck with that.
Edgeworth: According to one of the artists he’s shredded and has a six-pack, but someone has to humble him. Put up your dukes you stupid cunt, this is for Franziska’s honor
Franziska: No.
Godot: On one hand he’s a post-coma disabled man on the other hand he did stab someone to death I think I have a 50/50 chance here. If it’ll shut him up that’s a gamble I’m willing to take
Klavier: He may look strong but I see the definition around that collarbone, I know he’s dehydrated. I could take him. We can televise it. It’ll be great. Imagine the ad revenue
Simon: He would snap me like a toothpick but I think I’m ok with that
Nahyuta: Whether or not I can, I feel like I should. Meet me behind the courthouse for an ass-kicking, Sahdmadhi

No joke, my dream mainline AA final entry (whether that be AA7 or later) is not one that simply brings back all the beloved living characters from past entries who’ve disappeared (Gumshoe, Franziska, Kay, etc.) I want it to lean hard into the concept of spirit channeling in order to bring back all the former big bads (Dahlia, Manfred, Kristoph, Phantom, etc.) but also the lost loved ones (Gregory, Mia, Clay, Jove, Dhurke, Metis, etc.) for an all-out, true send-off to the mainline series.
It’s Ace Attorney! It can be ridiculous; the stakes get stupidly higher with each game anyway! Let’s say Maya senses there’s havoc being wrecked in the spirit world, and she channels Mia to discover that something has gone terribly awry with Judgment and now everyone who’s ever died in the series is stuck in purgatory, unable to move on into either Heaven or Hell (or whatever equivalent there is in the world of Ace Attorney).
Mia and some other spirits who dealt with justice systems in life (whom we later discover to be the likes of Gregory Edgeworth, Dhurke Sahdmadhi, and Godot) are trying to sort it out, but they simply can’t do it on their own—so Mia is reaching out to the world of the living for help. Now all the main living characters—Phoenix, Apollo, Athena, Maya, Ema, Miles, Gumshoe, Klavier, Simon, Nahyuta, Franziska, everyone—have to team up to help their loved ones find peace and ensure their enemies face justice in the Beyond.
Like, can you imagine what an amazing emotional mess this could be? Miles having to face his father after all the mistakes he made in his life, and them working together to send Manfred to literal hell (and just think about how Franny fits into this dynamic). Apollo and Phoenix needing to unlock Kristoph’s black psychelocks, digging up all the Gavin family skeletons, and requiring Klavier’s help to do it. Simon and Athena and Metis and the actual Bobby Fulbright having to unmask the Phantom for real. The list goes on.
It’s pipe dream, but I’m foaming at the mouth just thinking about it.

Ace attorney characters ranked based on how well I think they dance
Phoenix Wright: 6/10 he’s nothing to write home about but he took a musical theater class or two in college so he can keep a beat at least.
Mia Fey: 6/10 no real interest in dancing but she's not bad or anything. could keep up with Diego well enough
Apollo Justice: 4/10 he wouldn’t suck so bad if he could just loosen up.
Athena Cykes: 9/10 very fit. does cardio. has taken some dance classes for fun.
Maya Fey: 8/10 what she lacks in skill she makes up for in spirit
Pearl Fey: 6/10 has the physical abilities to dance but not the confidence. also has very little reference for how she could be dancing
Trucy Wright: 8/10 performer with good dexterity for sleight of hand. Music isn’t really her area of expertise but she does well enough. enjoys playing just dance with Athena
Miles Edgeworth: 3/10 he can do one dance and it’s the Steel Samurai season 4 ending credits dance and he does it flawlessly but nothing else. took ballroom dancing classes with the von Karmas but he wasn’t particularly adept.
Franziska von Karma: 4/10 she found the aforementioned ballroom dancing classes tedious but damn if she wasn’t going to perform in them perfectly. she can’t do anything else and refuses to try
Godot: 7/10 he can do a killer tango
Klavier Gavin: 2/10 despite being an internationally famous rockstar, when performing he usually has a guitar in his hands so he’s never needed to dance. he cannot dance. he doesn’t particularly want this info getting out
Simon Blackquill: 6/10 danced with Athena a fair bit growing up. knows several anime dances
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: 7/10 i haven't met this guy yet but my friend tells me they think he'd know a fair bit of traditional dances.
Winston Payne: 0/10 or 10/10 no in between. he's either literal garbage or so bad it loops back around to incredible. he had insane disco game in the 70s but now all the rookies laugh at him.
Larry Butz: 8/10 best dancer between him, Phoenix and Miles. he’s gotta be getting his girlfriends somehow
Dick Gumshoe: 5/10 a little too clumsy and can't keep a beat well but bonus points for his enthusiasm
Ema Skye: 1/10 doesn't even try
Kay Faraday: 10/10 incredible dexterity and physical ability. lots of whimsy and spirit.
Sebastian Debeste: 3/10 despite the baton, no real sense of rhythm
Manfred von Karma: 4/10 the one to sign Franziska and Miles up for ballroom dance lessons
Matt Engarde: 2/10 he got the jammin samurai killed so I don’t think he can jam
Dahlia Hawthorne: 8/10 she can boogie. gets down at clubs and parties. arguably the most normal about dancing
Sister Iris: 7/10 had to learn to boogie to properly emulate her sister but she isn’t quite as suited for it and has much less experience
Kristoph Gavin: 1/10 he likes watching but he doesn’t dance at all
Ryunosuke Naruhodo: 10/10 the most beautiful dance of deductions you've ever seen in your life
Susato Mikotoba: 10/10 while she's not particularly skilled with a koto, she learned to dance from the best
Herlock Sholmes: 10/10 THE dancer. THE ONE AND ONLY great detective known for his dance of deductions
Iris Wilson: 10/10 raised by the aforementioned one and only herlock sholmes
Yujin Mikotoba: 10/10 took to tap dancing incredibly well during his time in britain
Kazuma Asogi: 6/10 he's not particularly good but he somehow makes it look cool anyway
Barok Van Zieks: 7/10 used to be much better, before the professor kililngs he actually enjoyed dancing a fair bit. took classes growing up. retained a lot of the muscle memory
Gina Lestrade: 6/10 she doesn't have any training but if she did she'd do fairly well
Tobias Gregson: 2/10 he's the best investigator at scotland yard according to Sholmes, so you can imagine how bad the rest of the yard is at dancing
Maria Gorey: 8/10 she can dance just fine she just has no interest. the one time they got her to dance Herlock had very courteously offered his body up for dissection. "AFTER I'M DEAD, WOMAN!"
Albert Harebrayne: 1/10 he can't. he tries. Barok tried to teach him. he understands the theory! he knows the steps! he can't do it. he can't.
#thanks 2 @burstfoot for her invaluable contributions#og post#Ace Attorney#AA#The Great Ace Attorney#TGAA#i am NOT tagging all those freaks there are nearly more characters than i can tag on a single post#i put their full names they show up in the search its fine its whatever#look away spout

Dear Anonymous,
Why... That would be nothing short of a blessing directly from Her Holiness! From what I remember, the original series was both wholesome and entertaining for children and adults alike. To see it remade for today's television audience would make my day.
The question is, will today's audience be as receptive to it as they were to the original? One can only imagine, but I would certainly appreciate the courage of those willing to take such a risk.

(Alright, going to stop procrastinating and finally make this post.) After playing through the new trilogy in French to see what was different, here are some things about the French localisation of Spirit of Justice I thought you should know:
First of all, I usually like the French and English versions of the games equally. This marks the first time I've actually enjoyed the French version... more than the English one?? Especially Turnabout Revolution? Don't get me wrong, I already loved it in English, but I think the next time I replay it I'll actively choose French. Idk man it just hits different when a bunch of French people are talking about revolution and overthrowing the tyrannical regime etc
Oh yes, speaking of which, yes, the "Japanifornia" parts of the game take place in Paris, France, as usual. No, I have no idea how Kurain village can be next to the mountains and also the sea while also being in the vicinity of Paris. I also don't know why the entire population of a small country in the Himalayas are fluent in French and use it on a daily basis. But seriously, the main characters mention SO OFTEN that they're French and from France, like, all the fricking time. Remember the incredibly Japanese rakugo case? Imagine that taking place in France.
The Khura'inese pun names are hysterical in French. An example that English speakers can get too: the first culprit's name in French is Sterh'uey Tu'heiven. I'm not making this up. That's his name.
RAYFA'S FRENCH VOICE ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE A TEENAGER INSTEAD OF A 30 YEAR OLD, THANK THE HOLY MOTHER
Unfortunately the Holy Mother giveth, but she also taketh away, and they gave Nahyuta a crunchy old man voice that doesn't suit his ethereal appearance at all...
Athena has now added German and Italian to her random English and Spanish phrases from the prev game. I mean... it made sense before, since she was meant to have lived in the USA in this version, but now I guess she just does it for fun? Who knows
French Roger Retinz uses €50 notes (euros) to fan himself instead of dollar bills
Inga's full name is "Inga Karkhuul Kel Nomh Bowkhou Tro'lon Pohm'peu Eh'Duhr Apronh Ons'ai Khura'in III" ("quel nom beaucoup trop long, pompeux et dur à prononcer")
Nahyuta's nickname in French is just "Yuta"
Ema and Apollo now use informal pronouns for each other, so do Ema and Trucy now, Maya starts using informal pronouns for Apollo from almost the first moment she meets him (though he uses formal pronouns for her lmao), and yes Dhurke and Apollo use informal pronouns with each other the whole time, even when things are awkward at the start. Rayfa and her mother always use formal pronouns for each other, which is a little depressing.
AS FOR NAHYUTA AND APOLLO... HOHOHO. Obviously they're both using "vous" (formal) in court, but in the scene afterwards Apollo switches to "tu" (informal) when he asks Nahyuta if he remembers him. Later in Turnabout Revolution, Apollo has gone back to vous but he's at least saying "Nahyuta" rather than "Prosecutor Sahdmadhi" or whatever (I think that happened in the English version too). Then during the final trial, after that one insanely angsty scene, Apollo starts using tu again and even (internally) uses the nickname Yuta once! Nahyuta eventually starts referring to him as Apollo and starts using tu after finally openly acknowledging Apollo as his family aaauuuuuugh ;o;
(Listen Apollo usually always tries to be formal and professional in court so this is a big deal!!! It's a big deal to me at least!!!!!!!!!)
In the English version there were a few times our good ol' American Apollo had a sort of "haha I'm just a foreigner I don't know anything here" vibe which... no you're not lol. The French version didn't have that (or at least toned it down a lot) and made him feel less like a tourist and more like an immigrant returning to his old home country with complex feelings, which he is. It makes it more personal that he's the one to bring about the revolution imo -- he's not some random foreigner swooping in to save the day, this is his home and his family, he belongs here. (As an immigrant myself I find aspects of him relatable and will defend his Khura'inese backstory to the death DON'T TEST ME)
The "what's crack-a-lackin' homie" line in all its glory:
#WESH GROS. BIEN OU BIEN. i freaking love this guy#anyway uh sorry for going off on tangents in the middle of this one#(as if i didn't also do that in all the other posts...)#ace attorney#aa6 spoilers#spirit of justice#random stuff#i almost cried when nahyuta switched to tu#okay yeah there's still some parts that were better in english but overall french wins this round#i'm serious about apollo's backstory btw. it's very dear to me#i could write an essay about how it recontextualises his personality and reactions in the 4th and 5th games#and makes a lot of stuff about him make even more sense and even makes some old parts feel like foreshadowing#'oh he's unrelatable and different now--' skill issue.#my boy is perfect and i love him in ALL THREE games

Return to File- Event Masterlist
Recovery date: July 31st, 2020
Description: Nahyuta is dead, and Simon and Ema aren't quite sure how to deal.
Notes: Content warning for character death. An entry from my 2020 research project into the universe of Ace Attorney. This entry was recovered with aid from Eleanorr and Yujinx from research lab designation Ao3. You can find the first entry here.

Simon sits silently in front of his sister. There’s a bit of a glare on the glass, and it hides some of Simon’s face. Still, Aura can see his sadness from his body language. He’s slouching slightly, and playing with the feather between his lips. She knows what’s wrong, Athena told her when she sent Simon to her. Aura knows what Simon’s going through, the pain of losing someone you love. She just hopes she can keep Simon from the path she walked.
Eventually, she spoke up.
“The princess told me what happened,” Simon flinched slightly, “ I- I know I haven’t been the best sister, but if you want to talk, I’m here. And she’s there for you to. I’m sure Mr. Edgeworth will give you time off if you need it, the princess said the funeral is in a week, you should take time off until then I think.” What did Aura know about dealing with loss properly? There were probably plenty of other people more qualified, and yet Athena had sent him to her.
“We were on the phone when it happened,” Simon finally said. Aura’s expression turned to shock, before she felt like crying. Athena hadn’t told her that, she probably hadn’t known.
Athena had told Aura that Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, Simon’s boyfriend, was dead. She’d called Aura last night, saying Simon was flying back in from Khura’in. He’d been gone for almost a month, and Athena had stayed with him. At first, she’d followed him for moral support. He wasn’t even planning to tell her, he’d only returned to the apartment to grab a bag, and that’s when he woke Athena. Once in Khura’in he took on the investigation, and Athena stayed to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid. After his murderer was caught, they’d stayed for the funeral, and Simon told her he wouldn’t be going back to L.A with her. Athena convinced him he had to at least go back to pack a proper suitcase.
What Athena didn’t know was that they had been talking when the gunshot went off. Simon had been working late, and Nahyuta was telling him to go to bed, while he and Ema made their way to a crime scene. In the background, Ema could be heard complaining about snow. Nahyuta was in the middle of telling her to dress warmer when he was cut off, and Ema screamed. The smile on Simon’s face had dropped, and he could hear Ema screaming at Nahyuta and some others.
Simon kept calling her name, but he received no answer. All he heard was Ema yelling at Nahyuta to stay with her, and telling people to get help.
“I’m going back to Khura’in tomorrow. With-with him gone, they need more trustworthy prosecutors and… I want to help. Justice-dono has buried himself in cases, and her benevolence refuses to speak to anyone but her mother.”
“What about Ms. Skye, I can’t imagine it’s been easy on her.”
“Skye-dono has returned to the U.S temporarily. Her mercifulness insisted on it, I think she’d preferred I stay here longer as well.” Aura nodded.
“I’ll visit you, once my sentence is done. Until then, would it be too much to ask you to come by for christmas?” For the first time in the past month, Simon cracked a small smile.
“Not at all.”
____________________________________________________
Ema lays in bed, blanket wrapped tightly around her, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. She’s in Lana’s guest bedroom, while Lana’s out getting groceries. There are empty bags of snackoos all over the floor, and the lights are off with the curtains drawn. A glass of water, science textbook, and her phone sat on the bed side table.
She’d left Khura’in yesterday with Athena and Simon, Apollo hadn’t left, but she had a feeling queen Amara would make him come back. While the queen was just as distraught over losing her son, she made sure everyone else was okay. She was probably trying to calm Rayfa right now.
“Em?” A voice came from her window, making Ema jump. Looking up, she could see a silhouette against her curtains. “Ema?” The voice called again. This time, Kay stuck her head around the curtain.
“Kay, what ar-” Before she could finish, Kay was by her side and hugging her.
“Lana called me, and… Mr.Edgeworth told me what happened. I came to check on you,” Kay said, pulling far enough away to look Ema in the eye. Ema looked tired, and she was. She hadn’t gotten any sleep on the plane ride over. She’d been having nightmares since Nahyuta’s death, for some reason, it felt like she was to blame. “When was the last time you got proper sleep?” Kay asked, snapping Ema out of her thoughts.
“I don’t know. Lana asked me the same thing…”
“Here,” Kay said, shaking off her coat and pulling Ema to lay down with her. She pulled Ema into her chest and began to stroke her head, humming. “Get some sleep, I’ll be right here when you wake up.”
“I’m going back you know. Not now, but they still need me,” Ema mumbled, sleep slowly over taking her.
“Mhm, maybe they could use a detective,” Kay hummed, although she didn’t expect an answer.
“Maybe.”

Ace Attorney characters introduce themselves (cause I’m bored)
(Imagine before all these they were approached with “Hi. What’s your name?” Cause that’s what I based it off of)
Franziska von Karma: Oh. You- you don’t know who I am? I guess I’m maybe more well known in Germany. My name is Franziska von Karma. That ring a bell? I’m a prosecutor. You? What’s your name?
Apollo Justice: Hi. Uh, nice to meet you. I’m Apollo Justice. I run a law firm in Ku’in ro Tzhota*. What’s up? Do you need something?
Kristoph Gavin: Oh, hello. Pleased to make your acquaintance. My name is Kristoph Gavin. I’m a defense attorney here in Los Angeles. Can I help you with anything?
Klavier Gavin: Oh! Hi! My name is Klavier! What’s your name?
Simon Blackquill: Oh. Hi. My name is Simon Blackquill. It’s, uh, nice to meet you. What’s your name?
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: Ah. Nahyuta… Sahdmadhi. …Do you need something?
*that’s the name of Kura’in’s capital I decided. It basically means ‘Queen’s city’ in my conlang.
If you wanna see more characters cause you’re curious how I play them you can let me know. Or ask other questions. (:

Do ur boy nahyuta for the character game!!!
Send me a character and I’ll list:
YESSS >:] thank you!!!
Favorite thing about them: Everything isn't really an answer, is it LOL. Uh! I don't know, I just love his personality a lot. I like how conflicted he is, I like how resigned he is to his fate to the point of willing to sacrifice himself for a scrap of assurance that his family will be safe even if he's dead and gone, I like his stubbornness and how smug he is, I just like his complexity. I also love his animations, they're very fun and charming and I like how many pertain to him messing with his prayer beads-- validating when I like headcanoning that he has OCD and uses the prayer beads a lot in compulsions. Least favorite thing about them: Nothing. Except that he probably will not return in AA7 and I have to live with that knowledge. Favorite line: "In all this time, not once did I reflect on my own conduct-- for I had believed it was my fate. Lost in my resignation, I was unable to wake from my despair." Just, UGH. So good, dude. I love him realizing he's wasted all this time destroying himself and harming others without thinking there was any other way to live or to protect his family and finally recognizing that it's time to start fighting back again. Mannnn. He's the best. brOTP: Barring all his family (including Datz and Apollo) because I love his potential dynamic with Rayfa, I like a potential friendship with him and Simon. They still bully the fuck out of each other but they have an understanding of each other. I like imagining that they just weren't friends one day, then were the next and they never discussed what changed. They just got along and continue to chat every once in a while. I also had a fun idea for post-SOJ after Yuty gets all his old cases overturned or gone over, resigning and becoming a defense attorney, but asking Blackquill to help with the prosecutor's office because thyey still hadn't replaced all the people that resigned, went to jail, or fled the country. I think that's fun. They would have a great rivalry, don't you think? OTP: Ema and Nahyuta like Skyemadhi is IT for me. I love them. I think they have a great dynamic, and Nahyuta clearly really loves and respects her during SOJ. I can't help but think he's got a crush on her and doesn't know how to express it initially, or maybe doesn't even know that's what it is because God forbid he FEELS things. Ema helps him open up and he wants to be a better person because of her, and he'll give her fucking Anything in return. Mainly opportunities for her to expand her scientific knowledge or getting higher positions.
Also when they get married I think they probably sprung for a double-barrelled surname (so Skye-Sahdmadhi) which, since Yuta has been restored to the royal family and she's marrying into it, their full surname is probably like Skye-Sahdmadhi Khura'in, but for ease, people just started calling them Prosecutor or Detective Skyemadhi for short 😭 nOTP: I don't get Apollo/Nahyuta at all. I know in the Japanese version they aren't described as brothers at all, so it's kind of a weird thing because in English they're explicitly read as brothers, but not in the original text, but it's like. I mean, I think it's fine I guess. Regardless of it, to me they have no chemistry romantically. At all. Their dynamic is so extremely platonic that I couldn't read it any other way lol. And I still view them as family myself, even though they may not exactly do so themselves.
I also admit I become less fond of Blackquill and Nahyuta romantically as time goes on, but it's not bad. I just don't particularly like it. Random headcanon: I've talked about this one before, but I imagine that if things got so dangerous that Dhurke had to send Apollo away, that he eventually sent Nahyuta away too. Like I think he probably initially kept Yuty because he couldn't possibly put his blood son away, his only family in the whole wide world, but after Ga'ran steals Amara and Rayfa back a year or so after the Apollo thing, Dhurke finally caves and sends Nahyuta to live at a monastery for safety.
I like imagining that this was before Tahrust Inmee became the high priest, but he was still rebel sympathetic and allowed Nahyuta to stay safely at his little remote monastery. Then, around the time Nahyuta finished his ascetic training at 18, Inmee became high priest and had to move to the capital for his job, so Nahyuta was sent home because they didn't know if the next head monk would be so sympathetic to them, thus leading to Nahyuta pivoting and joining the Dragons for real and then starting his lawyer journey. Unpopular opinion: Not only is Nahyuta overhated, he is a great character. Apparently that's controversial among AA fans KRKFN but like, other than that? I dunno. I don't think he's boring at all, though he's a bit underwritten and doesn't talk enough during some of the trials. Song I associate with them: I made a whole playlist for him, but I should pick out one or two. I think Looking Glass by The Birthday Massacre and Empty Page by The Crane Wives are two great songs that reflect how he's bending himself to be whatever everyone else wants him to be, and that's nothing of him left, if there was any of him to begin with.
I also like What If by Emilie Autumn for the "escaping my abusive situation and changing" vibes for him.
I also like Abbey by Mitski for him.
I'll quit going on, you get the point KRKF Favorite picture of them: Every time he's on screen I lose my mind. How am I to pick KRKF
One of my faves is the one in my icon. I love his lil smiles, he's so gorgeous it kills meeee
Also not to be deranged but. Um. JBNSD I like how he looked when he had a gun to his head. I liked the expression.
I could list any pose or pic of him though and it would be my fave probably though, lol.

and there we have it! closing out this poll with a 0.5% lead, of 199 people polled, your funniest prosecutor as determined by one single vote is the original red rival and fancy lad, Miles Edgeworth!
it was a close battle throughout the entire voting period! during this past week, not a single option dominated; everyone in our top 4 enjoyed 1st place even for a short while, never leading by more than a few, easily overtake-able number of votes. Simon Blackquill started off a strong contender for 1st place before falling behind the other 3 some time around the middle and then being overtaken by Godot. Godot enjoyed his lead until the final 24 hours when i made another post because i like attention to boost sample size, in which the Klavier Gavin stans came out to engage the Godot fiends one-on-one in an even-sided battle that lasted half the day. Godot eventually succumbed making Klavier the new 1st place hopeful. meanwhile Edgeworth steadily crept up behind, and never too far behind in this week-long long con, to just barely beat Klavier by one measly vote. imagine not a fierce battle to the death, but Edgeworth sticking out his leg to trip Klavier as he rounds a corner on his way back from the bathroom.
our unfunniest prosecutor is none other than the sad monk himself, Nahyuta Sahdmadhi with a total of 2 whole votes, the 1st of which took him 6.5 of the 7 allotted days to collect. maybe he's not so funny himself, but i the poll taker was thoroughly amused at the situation.
i want to shout out the deadlocked battle between Barok van Zieks and the Payne family. neither of them were ever truly in consideration for the number 1 spot, but the way they consistently were catching up and tying with each other, neck-and-neck, i believe they've found a rival in each other. van Zieks has won this time by 1 lone percent, but in the future, who knows? maybe capcom will add a third Payne brother, or give winston or gaspen a son, and the family will be ever stronger to challenge van Zieks again.
thank you all for participating! this was a very informal, disorganized thing, and i obviously did not set it up like a tournament (because i don't think this topic or pool of characters is big enough to warrant one). i didn't make it a whole event or anything. the sample size nearly doubled in the final day of voting; this poll went from 108 voters over 6 days to 199 total. it could have benefited from simply having more eyes on it, and maybe we'd get some wider margins of victory. but in this one competition determining which of these fucked up lawyers is the funniest weird little freak (affectionate), i'm satisfied that there's no obvious favorite. the out-of-pocket rival prosecutor is a series staple, and many find it difficult to pick just one.
#now my personal notes as an aa fan: i did not care at all who won. but franziska losing by as much as she did hurt me#bottom 3 or 4 if you count 'other' as a real option. sad. the original teenage failgirl is so funny and none of you care 😔#ace attorney

I'm requesting a lot of things realized. (Sorry about that) Apollo, Phoenix, and Nahyuta reacting to a S/o being a mermaid(or merman, because idc about genders) reader the reader reacting to the guys being mers.
Merperson!Reader, heLL YES!!! Anyways, I’m going with H2O: Just Add Water rules for the hell of it (basically coming into contact with water after ten seconds = hello tail!). Enjoy! Phoenix and Nahyuta are below the cut.Feat. Merperson!Reader
You felt terrible about keeping such a big part of your identity a secret from him, for as long as you have. But it wasn’t exactly like normal humans believed that merpeople actually exist and that isn’t really a topic to broach lightly in conversation. ‘Oh yes, by the way, I’m actually a merperson!’ Of course, it’d be easy to prove by allowing yourself to come into contact with water…
…and you’d finally worked up enough courage to do just that. You needed to do it now that things were getting serious between the two of you. You’d invited him over under the pretense of having something important to tell him. It’s vague and anxiety-inducing, you know, but… what else could you really tell them?
You don’t beat around the bush, as soon as you show him in and get situated on the couch, you dip one of your fingers into the glass of water to activate your ability.
“I, um, didn’t know how to tell you this earlier but—” you grimace as the transformation occurs, a brief flash of light as you revert back into your true form. “—I’m a merperson.”
Apollo Justice.
Apollo simply stares at you. Well, to be more exact, your tail. It’s a blank stare until he begins his face journey, his bangs falling down into face as he goes through confusion, disbelief, doubt, consideration, and then acceptance.
“That’s fine. This is fine. Yup, that’s… fine!”
He brushes his hair back and takes a deep breath in and a deep breath out. You think that maybe he’s going to take this better than you anticipated before he begins to tap his finger against his skull, seemingly thinking about all the implications of ‘merpeople being real’ entails.
With your dry, webbed hand, you reach out and place it on his knee. “I…um, I know it’s a lot to take in, but I just… I really care about you and I wanted you to know before things got too serious between us. In case you, um, don’t want to be with me anymore?”
You go to pull your hand away, but he’s quick to stop you by catching your wrist.
“N-No! I—it, um… it doesn’t change anything, between us, I mean. I just need some time to process this… it’s just… a lot to take in.”
Relief flows through you as the tension in your shoulder seems to evaporate, just thankful that he was okay with this new crazy development in his life.
“That’s fine. And I’ll do my best to answer any and all questions you have to help.” You slide your wrist out of his grip in order to hold his hand and give it a squeeze. “It took me a bit to process the whole ‘perception’ ability of yours, too.”
“…I feel like this is a bit bigger than that, but that’s fair,” he says, but he smiles and you know that you’re truly going to be fine.
You dry your damp finger off and the transformation comes undone before you pull him into a tight hug and spend the rest of the evening doing your best to answer all of his questions.
Phoenix Wright.
Phoenix blinks rapidly, eyes darting between your face and your tail as he processes this news. It would normally be hard not to chuckle at how cute he looks, with his eyes all wide and mouth agape with disbelief. But you’re nervous and uncertain as to how he’s going to respond.
After a few moments of silence, he sits back upright and adjusts his waistcoat, looking back and put together, “Well, that certainly is… something.”
“It’s a tail with fins, to be exact.”
He snorts at your deadpan comment before rubbing. “Yeah, it’s quite fishy. But not the kind of fishy I was expecting from a ‘we need to talk,’ chat, especially since I knew you were keeping something about your identity locked up away from me.”
His easy acceptance surprises you and it’s your turn to gape at him. How did he know you were keeping a part of your identity a secret from him? But that wasn’t the foremost question on your mind, not at that moment, at least.
“Th-That’s it? Really!?”
“Yeah, well, I trust you,” he says, with a smile that makes your heart melt. “Plus, I’ve seen a lot of strange over the years, so this isn’t anything new, really.”
“That’s… cryptic.”
“I mean, you’re practically a cryptid, so I guess that makes us a pair.”
You playfully smack him on the shoulder, letting out a delighted little laugh that only makes his grin grow in response. Before you can think of anything else to say, he closes the distance between the two of you and captures your lips with his.
You gladly reciprocate it as you drape your arms around the back of his neck before quickly wiping your finger dry on his blazer. There’s another flash of light as you transform back, but neither of you break the kiss—glad for no more distractions.
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi.
Nahyuta’s long eyelashes flutter as he simply stares down at your elegant tail, one hand pulling his prayer beads taut as he thinks. There have been only a few times you’ve ever seen Nahyuta at a loss for words and this is most certainly one of them. His usual composure has cracked and each moment of silence is only making you grow more and more nervous.
“Yuta…?”
“It… would surely seem that you are, indeed.” He releases his necklace, his typical composure swiftly returning. “However, I did not see this foretold by the karmic threads.”
You shift slightly in your seat, uncertain of how to translate his neutral response. “Yes, I imagine you probably wouldn’t, given the nature of it and all…”
He nods, humming lightly under his breath as his hands fall into their customary meditative positions. It’s only a few moments that he ponders over something, but it feels like an eternity.
When he opens his eyes, you see a spark of curiosity light up his eyes as he reaches a hand out and gingerly touches your tail, like he’s uncertain as to whether or not it is real. It is. And as he runs his fingers along the subtle ridges of your scales he shifts to look at you with awe.
However, he still hasn’t said anything and you can’t help but feel unabashedly nervous still. Awe does not mean that he’ll still want to be with you, that this isn’t some sort of dealbreaker for him upon further meditation.
“…Before we became close and were occasionally at odds, I did not mean to call you a ‘witless flounder‘ so literally. You have my apologies,” he says, although there’s a hint of humor in his tone and the smile on his face.
He’s trying to set you at ease and it works, you can’t help but let out a laugh as you dry off your finger to undo your transformation in another burst of light. “Apology accepted.”
However, the humor melts away from his eyes as he gently takes your hands in his.
“Truly, you must be blessed by the Holy Mother to have such a wonderful ability… and I am glad that you trust me enough to share this secret with me. I understand all too well that such is not done lightly.”
You nod, feeling the threat of tears start singing your eyes before you pull your hands away from his grip in favor of throwing your arm around him in a tight hug—with enough force to almost knock him over on the sofa.
He slips his arms back around you and lets out an amused hum, just holding you as long as you need before he begins his flurry of questions.

i love how absolutely off the rails the prosecutor sideplots are in the latter half of the series. it's like capcom spun a roulette wheel and just went with whatever they got. musician? sure that's easy enough. prisoner? little hard to make them work in law enforcement but doable. the pointer landed right in between religious figure and royalty so the writers just said fuck it and did both. cannot wait for aa7 just to see if it's possible to make the new prosecutor any more ridiculous
