I get why 98 decided to make Rem Christian. I really do.

However, manga Rem never exactly tells Vash to not kill other people. To not throw his life away? Yes. To not treat lives lightly? Yes. (I guess not killing other people is implied, but hey.)

When she has an issue, she leaps into action, and is not above lying or hacking official government databases. I fully believe if SEEDS tried the Tesla experimentation on the twins, she would have not have hesitated to protect them after making a promise that it wouldn't happen again. If protect means harm, yes.

I find it interesting, then, that manga Rem doesn't seem to really believe in or call in a god for help—even at her most desperate hour, she prays to Alex to give her strength.

And that's evocative of the philosophy she passes on to Vash: to protect and have faith in humanity.

I sometimes hear very religious people wondering how one decides to do "the right thing" without a specific creed. What is your moral compass, then? What guides you?

It's what we owe to each other. It's the people we love. It's getting to that tomorrow.

To be sure, putting your faith in a deity is as much as a toss-up as betting on human race. Rem has seen shit. Vash has seen shit. But they both put their lives on the line, every time, to save humanity because they believe it's worth saving.

i've thought abt the listeners dressed in ancient greek attire ! having them lean more to a pagan aspect.. I still consider Martyn to be agnostic tho, he doesn't join the listeners, just works for them.

i write/headcanon the watchers as catholics bc..

1: the angel statues and imagery, catholics love that shit, the paintings, the statues, the rosaries. Its much like the watchers leaving symbols and statues/buildings.

2: grian speaks abt/to them so casually, like hes praying to saints

3: the update stuff......... catholics like.... progress.... over time... depending on the catholic church/pope....... (reaching)

4: the watchers are big on rules and atoning when you've done wrong, (like grian being greedy and having his chests blocked.)

5: catholic guilt !! the watchers gave that boy catholic guilt (this is inspired by fanfictions tho)

6: i was raised vaguely catholic its the only religion i rly know well or feel comfortable writing lmao

So I was just on TvTropes and I saw that someone had pointed out that in the DiC cartoon continuity, Mario and Luigi aren't twins. Due to the live action bit called Dance showing Mario throwing a birthday party for Luigi and only Luigi. Guess that's something to add to the lore pile. (Would also add more context to that one born with a plunger joke.)

Ah yes, see not every Mario and Luigi are twins. Brothers still; but the pairs from the cartoons and the 1993 movie are not.

It's not stated in the new movie...but seeing as the characters and worlds are based on the games, and the Mario and Luigi from the games ARE twins (stated mostly in sports and party games but still counts!), it's fair to assume that movie Mario and Luigi are also twins.

I mean...come on, there's no way there's an age gap between these two babies!

I mean, when you think about it, back in the 80s and 90s, there was hardly any confirmation of the brother's age - hence Mario only celebrating Luigi's birthday in the Super Show.

And in the 1993 movie, the age gap of the actors was quite large - so that also contributed to them being different ages.

Polyamory is not about having multiple partners at the same time, it was never about that. Because each person can be different, we can be asexual, having only platonic love, having a relationship with only one people, or something casual, etc. It's about all kinds of love being valid, it's about True Love (literally spiritual love, beyond the body), healthy and respectful. Respecting the feelings of your partner, having your feelings validated and respected.

Freedom with conscience, where you both know, you can go and return with a soft heart, where nothing will change between you, because trust, love and respect will always prevail. No, because I'm not over processing "Now & Then" and freaking out about what a perfect epilogue it is for the Beatles, but also what a perfect homage it is to John & Paul's friendship. And how much it feels like destiny.

The words "Now & Then" have so many strange ties to these boys. Because:

-> John's last words to Paul (during a meeting that no one could expect was their last) were: "think about me every now & then old friend".

-> John was murdered in December 1980. In February of 1981 a friend of Paul's - fellow musician Carl Perkins spent a week with him, participating in a recording of a song for his album. To thank him and Linda for their hospitality during the time, the night before he was meant to leave, Carl sat down and spontaneously wrote them a song titled "My Old Friend". He played it to them the next morning and Paul started crying and had to leave to gather himself. Linda McCartney then assured Carl it was okay and thanked him for helping Paul, because he had problems facing his emotions about the attack before that. And then she stopped and asked him "but how did you know?" and Carl had no idea what she meant. She explained that the only people who knew what John's last words to Paul were was her and Paul himself. And then she revealed what those words were. Carl had no idea, but he ended up accidentally including them in that song.

The chorus of that song went as follows:

Paul then insisted on recording that song with Carl Perkins, which they did - and recalling that story later Carl said that Paul felt like that song was sent to him by John through Carl.

-> By now we all know the story of how this "new" Beatles song came to be - After John's death, Yoko found a demo tape of songs he never completed, that she then handed over to Paul so that him, George & Ringo could record the last new Beatles songs in 1995 as part of an anthology that was being released. (they wanted to record new material, but had promised never to do so without all the members included. So using these demos was the only way).

There's lots of places that claim the tape with the demos had "For Paul" written on it by John - but admittedly, I haven't actually seen a source quoted. Still - the fact that one of the songs on that last demo of new material they ever got from John was titled with some of the last words he ever said to his best friend? The lyrics of that song being what they are? Come on.

(It very much also just felt like a song for Paul to me. With how complex that relationship was - how intense all the emotions were - through love and diss tracks to still calling each other best friends while they weren't on good terms. Missing each other).

Then - destiny working the way it did, not allowing them to record that one track in 1995 because of the awful quality. Making it so that it was their actual last song in 2023. Because only now did the technology allow for seperating those vocals and fixing them up so that they can actually be used.

Like are you kidding me??? It was that one. The one that felt most special.

if you had to base a new riverdale season off three movies, which would you choose and why? they could be tonal choices or you can pluck entire elements of the movies and work them in.

ok i broke the rules bc i didn't stick to movies, i went novels and pop culture with it too. and i also kind of embroidered a few references together around each main riff in a way that i think COULD be riverdalian, but these are my 3 selections:

jt leroy (2018). trashy iffy-hot-take kristen stewart/laura dern movie about a very 2000s literary scandal/internet drama run Too Far into irl drama that i think riverdale would know better what to do with. two ideas (this is a jughead plot btw):

put jughead in the dissociated trauma-projecting controlling persona-having laura albert/jt leroy role and rope veronica and reggie and their monetary-business motivations into the scam angle. monica posh savannah knoop stuff and rattling veronica and jughead around in a jar together intensely in a campy way

or step lightly outside the bounds of this script into the real livejournal and myspace based drama of it all and jughead's sometimes-characterization as a guy who needs help unpacking metaphor even though he's swimming in it. make him into one of the many emo band boys (ryan ross?? ryan ross????) who related so so so so sosososo much to the writing of jeremiah terminator and then had a whole crisis when j.t. was unmasked as a middle-aged woman with a metaphorical literary persona.
