OKAY SO what with the TWO new Hermits implied by the updated banner I will say that, though the Skizz truthers have me convinced, I now have room to do my own crazy red string monologue and throw my hat in for my choice

1) Mythical J. Sausage (the J is silent) is a multitalented S-tier builder that absolutely deserves to be shoulder to shoulder with the Hermits. The man does buildings, interiors, terraforming, custom trees, and he does them SO WELL.

2) The production values!!! Beautiful replay mod sequences with shifting camera perspectives, shaders, music that sets the tone for each segment that's different from series to series. He already has more than a million followers on YouTube and for good reason!!

3) He has been SO consistent lately. He started a hardcore world about three months ago (about the time you might expect the Hermits to finalize their s10 choices maybe...???) and already has 15 episodes and hasn't gotten involved in any other big content. (He did just start playing a little of the BCG server but from what I understand that's super casual /copium copium copium).

4) That hardcore world is conveniently about to reach a good "pause" point. He started his world on a cherry blossom biome island that he's filled with a medieval village and starter farms, he's said it's almost full and what's left is the castle. I'm guessing the new season will start the first week of February, so if Sausage puts out a video this week building out that Castle and finishing that island it will be MIGHTY CONVENIENT TIMING.

5) This man can GRIND. His Hardcore world hasn't even been going half a year and he's built... So much??? Magnificent! And when he was on the Hermitcraft server he did the Razorcrest for scar AND the player head baby yoda/stormtrooper merch AND the noteblock themesong AND still built in the xmas village and other "diamond of peace" and so many other shenanigans. Did the man even sleep? He can grind with the best of them.

6) He can do redstone, too! Maybe not unique designs, I honestly don't know, but he builds farms for build materials no problem.

7) The DRAMA this man loves his improv and his backstory and trauma lore! For every series he does! Can you imagine if he gets to interact with Ren for an extended period of time, what that would do to them, to us?? Give Martyn a run for his money!!

8) Which brings me to my next point, which is that Sausage is already One of The Gang, because he's been in series with so many of the Hermits already! Empires and the crossover, obviously, but also Pirates with Cleo and Origins with Scar, and he's even done MCC! Joel is the only other player with the same depth of different series but there are other people truthing him already.

9) The EPIC BROMANCE with Pearl. My god the devotion of this man to his sunflower goddess bestie. I would try to do ot justice but y'all have seen floweroflaurelins work, you already know.

10) He's already a PG streamer but with HILARIOUSLY PG-13 tendencies. Imagine him and Cleo cracking each other up at an HHH stream, *grips your shoulders* IMAGINE IT.

11) Sausage comes with his own mascot in the form of interdimensional dog extraordinaire Bubbles, but he's also just an animal lover on general. Mans drinks his "I love Jellie" juice and had her in his world even before the sad news of her loss.

12) Diversity win! No one should be hired just for their gender, race, sexuality etc etc unless it's truly necessary to the job, but we were all happy when more women got added to the server in s8 and I know a lot of people would be happy to see some ethnic diversity added, too.

The Overflowing Heart

I will tell you how I made this witch’s token, but you will have to find a way of your own. It is as Grandmother Wren told us,

“Remember always that some portion of magic is yours to wield, and that the world contains many, many truths.”

the recipe:

3/4 oz Kazuki gin

1 1/2 oz. Sake + tea mixture

1 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit

3/4 oz. Strega

shake over ice, and serve in your finest or favourite tea cup

garnish with dried rose petals

notes:

Sherringham Kazuki gin— a collaboration of one of my favourite distilleries and my favourite local tea shop, Westholme Tea Farm. Made from Japanese cherry blossoms, and locally grown tea leaves with notes of yuzu, grapefruit, and juniper. I first visited Sherringham in a trio of my own, on a day long adventure, visiting a beach someway up the island. Westholme is run by an old coworker of my Aunt’s, and his partner who makes gorgeous pottery. I could not put words to my excitement when I first heard whispers of their collaboration.

Sake + Tea Mixture— I can never fully recreate this just the same. There is magic in that, I think. I have little left. I made it by taking a sprinkling of the following teas from Westholme, and cold steeping them in a mason jar with a large ice cube, topped with sake and a splash of moon bathed witch water.

Blossom: (jasmine green, floral), for the cottage’s calendar

Bi Luo Chun: (green, delicate and earthy), for i thought it was grown here, over seven long years (I rolled a nat 1 on my perception check)

Pur-eh: (fermented, earthy), for its mushroominess and it’s connection therin

Dog: (black assam, vanilla and cardamon, from the Chinese Zodic series), the cardamom pod and a few leaves, for our beloved Fox

Witch Water: the witch water used in this potion was bathed in the Friday, October 13th New Moon (a day so witchy I thought for sure the class would be released that day!) in an empty kazuki gin vessel

Grapefruit— because it was pink and in season and a citrus I love dearly

Strega— the witch liqueur! According to legend, Giuseppe Alberti was given the recipe for this elixir after saving a witch falling out of the sacred walnut tree, under which witches would convene to dance and perform their rituals.

yay i finally created an au yayayyay it has been in my head ever since i started stanning akb48 and yeah i finally decided to make it public!! ik its kinda stupid but whatever

so uh basically the au is about mephone4 reaching out to aki-p himself and hes like "hey bro wanna collab?" then aki-p is like "ew no why would i collab with an iphone knock off" then mephone was like "cmon bro i have nothing else to do" and then aki-p finally agrees and there we go ins48 is formed wooo!!! ins48 stands for inanimate island 48 (the bold letters are the letters used in the name) (alr yall im gonna write in actual sentences n stuff now woo) unlike in ii where mephone creates everyone, he actually gets the members (the contestants) through auditions. 14 trainees are chosen as members, and those trainees are the first 14 contestants of season 1 of inanimate insanity, all chosen by mephone. 1. Favorite Color: (of all time)Mauve Pink and (currently) Acid Lime Green

Favorite Flower: Cactus Blossoms but uses, uh, Thistles as a signature flower. He likes them because it reminds him of him and Surge together (it's pink, green & spikey)

What they would take on a deserted island: A laptop & a classic romance novel (he's a sucker for the classics & old hollywood, he wildly misinterprets them, but he loves them)

Idea/Inspiration for them: based on a bumblekast question/description about a Glitch ver. Amy, but I liked the idea of Surge just having a rabid fanboy (different from Kit) and gave him a more eccentric flair. Design wise I wanted him to look like a punk version of a normal schoolboy, and tried to make his personality more feminine & extroverted (since Surge leans more masculine & Surge & Kit are both more introverted). I also pulled inspiration from few obsessive characters like Kish from Tokyo Mew Mew & Lum from Urusei Yatsura

Quake:

Favorite Color: Coral Red, but any jewel tones she think are very pretty

Favorite Flower: Shepherd's Purse, she likes it for it's medicinal values and also thinks it's cute and simple

What they would take on a deserted island: She would think it'd be a great time for meditating so probably a sketch diary to keep track of her thoughts/draw anything neat she finds

Idea/Inspiration for them: I like powerful ladies, I'm also plus sized so any plus sized rep in my favorite media is welcomed, and noticed that Blaze doesn't have a powerhouse lady companion (aside from herself) so I just kinda took it as a challenge to see if I could make it work and I think I found the right balance.

pre-creation & a little background info

a little backstory for why i began this acnl town. buckle the fuck up, its acnl trauma dumping time. (kinda /j but idk it's a lot of info and background on ME who you know nothing about sksksksks i'm also brand new to tumblr so. uhh oops. idk how this works)

on the 31st of october me and my friend were messing about with the new nintendo music app and were aghast that they didn't have the new leaf sound track (tbh the selection is abysmal. it's only really games that released on the switch.)

i started thinking about new leaf again and decided i'd start playing my childhood* town again, Hannah mayor of Dublin. i was walking around and i love that town to death and i'm working on 100% it (yeah.. getting ALL the badges.. all items.. :') ), but i couldn't really re-decorate my house or town since well.. it's pretty damn nice..

*childhood refers to my first proper playthrough, done when i was around 10. some of my files were from when i was 12 and stuff but because ✨trauma✨ i dont consider it my childhood past 11.

i'm making this blog to catalogue my playthrough, kind of like a journal. the style might be reminiscent of jvgs jeff's ac blogs, as thats one of my inspirations...

so i decided to start yet another town! i started and stopped a lot as a kid, as i acquired 3 copies of new leaf over 5 or so years.. some had very long standing saves, others reset on week 1.

i took a copy of the town occupying that cartridge with checkpoint and oh. i need to think. i need some guidelines..

for this town, I want to break out of my old new leaf habits and stuff. my towns end up kind of looking different each time, but feel the same if that makes sense?

now, my new leaf early game and general habits.. weeeeelll….

a convenience based layout that benefits the mayor and not the village, all pwp buildings like the roost end up with one wall either beside a cliff or river to close them in and separate them a bit.

i rush to set up all my flowers for maximised hybrid breeding, thus usually would have the majority of crossbred colours by the end of the first month of play. (not blue rose though. dear god no.)

i end up with the same flower decorated based town, with all of the colours, with a checkerboard pattern framing a 2 wide naturally formed animal tracks path.

i speedrun friendship and pics by sending daily 2 or 3 sentence keyword soup letters with their favourite items..

just generally min-maxing the fuck out of everything.

i want to play the way i played when i was younger, and didn't know how each feature worked intricately.

there will be no resetting for villagers, layout or fruit. i get what i get, and i gotta work with it.

there will be NO "ugly villager go, pretty villager stay" mindset, that i had for a few years, got from the friend who got me into this game. i've gotten out of that a while ago, and i just take my villagers as i go, what i did as a kid! it's so fun reading their dialogs and forming headcannons and from their interactions shipping villagers (in my last town, Glade.. knox and ken were the greatest enemies to lovers i swear.. knight chicken x ninja chicken yaoi goes hard)

i'll see as i play, but i might keep the first 8 who move in naturally or i might just let them leave as they please (potentially after i get their pic. i am slowly collecting them all :p) I want to actually plan this town out and make it look really pretty like those aesthetic ones people rave about and can wander in for hours- i want it to look good year round, not just looking nice during cherry blossom season, mid summer deep green or autumn orange, and to MAKE SENSE as a real town!! it will ideally be a heavily wooded forestland, full of nature and natural things.

i know the super pretty aesthetic towns probably are very min-maxy, like spend hours for the 1 pwp you need.. etc. but i'll just do it slow :3

Ground Rules

i want to play at a slower pace. no rushing to the island to get the max house funds on week 1.

other towns: no freebies from my other towns, but if i do want to get something from there, it's at quadruple the cost for furniture. only hybrid i can buy is the blue rose if it takes me a very long time to buy, and it will cost A LOT.

turnips: at the moment, no travelling to sell them. i am allowed to sell turnips in hawthorn through other files, but the money will not be given to hawthorn.

time travelling: this depends. i have chronic pain and stuffs so things dont always work out well for me, and i miss stuff. unless i'm feeling shit, tt is banned.

wisp & amiibo: i'm allowed to 'cheat' in the amiibo characters and amiibo card villagers i don't own. this will be done by save editing, but i forfeit the meow coupons the summoning gives me if it is done through save editing. regular amiibo i own are allowed. i'm not spending however much extortionate price JUST for pixel furniture. i have enough shit around, and i dont need another pile of cards.

perfect fruit: this feature is broken. you can make soo much money, especially with a re-tail bonus. i'm allowed to drop off my perfect fruit for hannah to sell, or for that character to sell perfect fruit in hawthorn. i'm working towards max bells on that save file, and you get a stupid amount of money. feng shui: fine to an extent. just don't let it take over my house.

hha showcase: streetpass and netpass are fine.

guides: no guides. no art guide, no villager preferred gift guide. i know enough of the art from playing so much new leaf, so it doesn't really matter.

March 1-3 : Yokosuka Japan

We spent our Leap Day in the air, landing in Tokyo on the afternoon of March 1.

Nathan's sister Crystal and her husband Dmitry have been living in Yokosuka for several years, and they were our expert tour guides for 2 perfect days in the area. We took the train straight down from the airport to meet them for a dinner.

As a Navy town, Yokosuka has a lot of English being spoken and a high proportion of people recognize Dmitry, including staff at the establishments where we tried delicious grilled meat & veggie skewers followed by chuhais - all I could handle before I was falling asleep on my feet.

The next morning we met up for a true breakfast of champions - Japanese strawberries, in the peak of their season and fresh off the vine! You pay a set price to pick all you can eat for half an hour, and you better believe I got full value out of that. 

We took the train to Komatsugaike Park, a popular Sakura (cherry blossom viewing) spot. In the first week of March, these trees were past their peak bloom but still very beautiful, and fun to be a part of this local seasonal event. There were food vendors where we got some small bites to balance out all that fruit. 

I had seen a glimpse of the beach from the train, and noticed the sea was full with windsurfers. I wanted to get a look at that, so we walked down to the Miura beach. It was way to frigid to consider touching that water even in a drysuit, but a good wind for the sport, just like home! 

After that we were pretty well frozen and ready for a nice hot lunch - ramen of course! 

We got back on a train out to Kotoku-in, where we got to see (and go inside) the giant Buddha. 

We walked from there to an incredible hillside temple complex, Hase-dera. It had some very different styles of Buddhas, a zen garden, a cave shrine, some incredible views, some distinctive koi and better example of peak cherry blossom beauty. This place is definitely worth the trip down from Tokyo to see! 

It was a pretty touristy area too, so as the temples closed down, so did every restaurant and shop. We walked through the pedestrian street to one more temple, where we happened upon a very traditional wedding.

This was a nice full day topped off with another good dinner and a bit better night’s sleep. Nothing beats jet lag like forcing yourself out into the sunlight from dawn til dark! Feeling very fortunate to have these couple days of weekend for a mini vacation before trying to start a work week.

The next morning C&D picked us up in their car for a trip out into more natural beauty - Jogashima Island. Turned out we couldn’t drive all the way as a marathon had closed down the streets, so we just parked on the mainland and walked over the bridge.

We explored beaches and tide pools, watched the giant seahawks swoop and saw another, less traditional, wedding couple’s photoshoot. it was a beautiful and relatively warm day - Mount Fuji even made a rare appearance from the beach!

This island seems to be all about tuna, and we got to try 5 or 6 different cuts and preparations at a seafood restaurant, as well as back at the large fish market where we parked and even alongside craft beers at a new brewery. 

Next stop, Kurihama Flower Park. In the right seasons it would feature colorful fields but even after dark, you can enjoy this highlight: Godzilla!

 

A second full day of walking and we had worked up an appetite for hibachi, lots more delicious grilled meats and veggies! Served by a robot, of course.

Today is March 4, and it was back to work, with breaks for a pastry and coffee breakfast, and to get up to Tokyo to catch the bullet train. Per tradition, we had bento boxes for the trip. Next stop, Hiroshima! 

I promise I won’t take a picture of EVERY meal. It has been amazing spending these first couple of days in vacation mode but I’m looking forward to getting on schedule and cooking our own meals again. We will start that at our first ever Home Exchange in Hiroshima!

i think its mainly bc it lasts so long! other seasonal things like cherry blossoms last only a few days, and the nice color autumn leafs only last a few days/weeks too..then bam snow for 3 whole months

overall thoughts: i think that the povs im going to keep watching in the future barring Interesting Events will be etho (i am legally obligated) cleo (daily dose of sarcasm) bigb (hole guy) and joel (his bloodthirsty swag has charmed me once again)

i think that the mechanic is interesting but also if they do a lore thing with it i WILL start killing. sorry.

i like the groups that've been established so far but i sort of think that they're a little sparcer than usual??? gem and her two scotts is a VERY fun dynamic but unfortunately i hate the way all of them edit their videos :pensive: i love the mounders and their stupid houses from what ive seen of them from other people's videos and cletho???? cletho???!?!?!? love island is also very good.
