Ghirahim for 1, 2, and 20!

(1) First Impression:

“WOW is that a look! I want his cape. How is his hair so perfectly smooth??? What an absolutely dead-eyed stare. Damn what a drama queen. HOLY SHIT TONGUE‼️ DID HE JUST GRAB MY FUCKING SWORD HOLY SHIT”

(2) When I Really Started to Like Them:

From the moment he was on screen tbh. I saw the sparkles and the little diamond cutouts on his not-really-shoes and thought “woah who is that they seem cool” and I was right. Further encounters only served to cement my decision that this guy is Very Cool™️.

(20) A Weird Headcanon:

Contrary to popular characterization, I really think Ghirahim is asexual. His whole tongue thing in Link’s face seems a lot more like an intimidation tactic than him trying to be flirty or anything else. The excessive cutouts in his clothing are an aesthetic choice that mirrors his sword form. He’s also a sword spirit and therefor, I headcanon that he is not only asexual, but entirely sexless as well. He chose his title of “Lord” because that’s what felt right to him.

That was more just unpopular than “weird,” huh? Okay here’s an actually weird one (that I half stole from a fic I read and can’t remember the name of): Demise cut off Ghirahim’s left ear as a form of punishment because he knows how proud Ghirahim is. Ghira would never admit what really happened, though, so he lies and [says that he made his ear that way so it doesn’t get in the way of his hair.] The part in brackets is from the fic. If this was from one of my writer mutuals, feel free to call yourself out in the comments :)

writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.

advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love

(8) Favorite Outfit:

I gotta go with his second fight form when the black metal cracks through on his arms and face. Top tier design and he looks so unhinged like that.💜 (honorable mention to his cape because it is SO COOL and I would steal it if I could.)

(16) Childhood Headcanon:

He, like Fi, never really had a “childhood.” When they were formed by their respective Masters, they appeared as the forms we see in game and do not mature. They began “life” with adult bodies and the maturity of young adults. Ghirahim was much more emotional than Fi, however, because demon blacksmiths couldn’t copy Fi perfectly. He was punished by Demise or the blacksmiths for his emotional outbursts in an attempt to make him more coldly calculating like Fi.

(26) When Were They Most Themselves:

It’s gotta be his monologue before the second fight about how excited he is about succeeding in finding evidence of a second Gate of Time (“fills my heart with rainbows”). This is the peak of his dramatic flair and he seems so genuinely happy and proud of his success. Then of course there’s his iconic “red thread of fate” line in there and it’s just perfect. He’s being so open about the connection he feels with Link and how good it feels to fight with him. It’s great. I love this bit. :)
