Happy Asexual Awareness Week!

This is your friendly reminder from an Ace rper (Aphobes do not interact with this post and tbh unfollow):

RESPECT aspec Muns: 

This means NOT pressuring/forcing them to smut if they don’t want to or are on the fence about it. This means NOT pressuring to ship or EXPECTING a ship out of them. This means being okay with slow build/burn relationships between muses instead of pushing for muses to fall in love instantly, or skip the beginning steps of a ship if the mun stresses they want things to progress naturally. If they DO write smut, this means not pressuring them to do it more than they would like/are comfortable with. (How do you find this out? Communication! Ask what the mun is comfortable with!) 

This also means if a muse is Aromantic, NOT pushing to mun to romantically ship that muse anyway. This means not deeming it “sad” or “such a shame” and etc. for any muse that is not meant to be shipped romantically.

This means if you tag things, not being condescending and berating with your tags for n.fw images, writing, etc. This includes tagging content of that nature as things such as “babies don’t look”, “how dare you have fun here” “innocents don’t look”, “people who hate fun don’t look” – Do what you need to not get shadowbanned, but there’s plenty of people who don’t want to see things of a sexual nature, or people who are on their work’s wifi or such, etc. and can’t risk that stuff showing up on their feed.

RESPECT aspec Muses:

This means accepting that some muses will not be as into sex as non-asexual muses. This means remembering sex does not always = intimacy. This means NOT treating sex as the only testament of how “strong” or “trusting” a ship is. This means NOT pushing ideals that “ALL people/teenagers/men/etc. HAVE to be horny for other people at some time or another  because that’s what makes us human” and that its wrong for the mun to “rob” their muses of these feelings or that they’re just trying to make them “pure”. This means NOT infantizing the muse and taking “asexual” to instantly and always mean “uwu pure christian child who’s so innocent and doesn’t know what sex is”. This means respecting that the character is a part of the asexual spectrum, and that it is important to their character.*

*This doesn’t mean there can’t be pre-plotted conflict between muses, because not everyone is compatible and that’s sometimes how it is. Sometimes people want different things out of a relationship and that’s okay. Again, COMMUNICATE to know what is okay!

 BUT, treating asexuality like its some character flaw, something broken, something needing to be fixed (when really there’s nothing wrong with being Ace!), something inhibiting someone from personhood and pushing those ideals OOC or IC* can be very damaging and upsetting to Muns if their Muses are treated this way.

Communicate. Be kind. Happy Ace Week. 💜

not that I deliberately start rp'ing with people for the purposes of shipping, but if there’s chemistry, if there’s interesting interaction, then yeah, I probably ship it

you don’t have to ship it too; it’s fun to torture the muse with unrequited feelings okay

if you feel like i’m pressuring you, let me know and i’ll do my best to rectify the behavior

if you want to ship a thing, pitch it to me. the answer is probably yes.

that said, don’t assume it without at least mentioning it to me ooc first.

Yaivai - Mirror | Quick Drabble

Yaivai had removed the mirror from the captain's quarters long ago. It was her room, she had told herself, who cares what she changes? 

But it wasn't exactly her room.  Her ship, her crew, all stolen from her husband.  The Brinedevil was his ship, she was just his wife, just his weather mage.  And when he cut her hair and scarred her skin, she still faced that mirror every morning to look nice for him, just hoping it was good enough to please him this time. 

When the ship became hers, that mirror was the first thing she changed.  She shattered it and threw the pieces into the sea. 

Many times she considered getting a new mirror, but each time she felt terrible and couldn't.  She hasn't recognized the face looking back at her in years, and sees no reason to get to know her now.
